How can I parse String to Int in an Angular expression?

Another option would be:

$scope.parseInt = parseInt;

Then you could do this like you wanted:

{{parseInt(num_str)-1}}

This is because angular expressions don't have access to the window, only to scope.

Also, with the number filter, wrapping your expression in parentheses works:

{{(num_str-1) | number}}

How to give a Blob uploaded as FormData a file name?

Haven't tested it, but that should alert the blobs data url:

var blob = event.clipboardData.items[0].getAsFile(),
    form = new FormData(),
    request = new XMLHttpRequest();

var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function(event) {
  alert(event.target.result); // <-- data url
};
reader.readAsDataURL(blob);

How to use HTTP GET in PowerShell?

In PowerShell v3, have a look at the Invoke-WebRequest and Invoke-RestMethod e.g.:

$encmsg = [System.Web.HttpUtility]::UrlEncode($msg)
Invoke-WebRequest -Uri "http://smsserver/SNSManager/msgSend.jsp?uid&to=smartsms:*+001XXXXXX&msg=$encmsg&encoding=windows-1255"

How to pass boolean parameter value in pipeline to downstream jobs?

How to read and write into file using JavaScript?

From a ReactJS test, the following code successfully writes a file:

import writeJsonFile from 'write-json-file';

const ans = 42;
writeJsonFile('answer.txt', ans);

const json = {"answer": ans};
writeJsonFile('answer_json.txt', json);

The file is written to the directory containing the tests, so writing to an actual JSON file '*.json' creates a loop!

extracting days from a numpy.timedelta64 value

Suppose you have a timedelta series:

import pandas as pd
from datetime import datetime
z = pd.DataFrame({'a':[datetime.strptime('20150101', '%Y%m%d')],'b':[datetime.strptime('20140601', '%Y%m%d')]})

td_series = (z['a'] - z['b'])

One way to convert this timedelta column or series is to cast it to a Timedelta object (pandas 0.15.0+) and then extract the days from the object:

td_series.astype(pd.Timedelta).apply(lambda l: l.days)

Another way is to cast the series as a timedelta64 in days, and then cast it as an int:

td_series.astype('timedelta64[D]').astype(int)

Read input from a JOptionPane.showInputDialog box

Your problem is that, if the user clicks cancel, operationType is null and thus throws a NullPointerException. I would suggest that you move

if (operationType.equalsIgnoreCase("Q"))

to the beginning of the group of if statements, and then change it to

if(operationType==null||operationType.equalsIgnoreCase("Q")).

This will make the program exit just as if the user had selected the quit option when the cancel button is pushed.

Then, change all the rest of the ifs to else ifs. This way, once the program sees whether or not the input is null, it doesn't try to call anything else on operationType. This has the added benefit of making it more efficient - once the program sees that the input is one of the options, it won't bother checking it against the rest of them.

How do I clear the std::queue efficiently?

Using a unique_ptr might be OK.
You then reset it to obtain an empty queue and release the memory of the first queue. As to the complexity? I'm not sure - but guess it's O(1).

Possible code:

typedef queue<int> quint;

unique_ptr<quint> p(new quint);

// ...

p.reset(new quint); // the old queue has been destroyed and you start afresh with an empty queue

Insert multiple rows WITHOUT repeating the "INSERT INTO ..." part of the statement?

    SELECT 124, 'Jonny'
    UNION ALL
    SELECT 125, 'Sally'
) AS X (ID, Name)

semaphore implementation

Your Fundamentals are wrong, the program won't work, so go through the basics and rewrite the program.

Some of the corrections you must make are:

1) You must make a variable of semaphore type

sem_t semvar;

2) The functions sem_wait(), sem_post() require the semaphore variable but you are passing the semaphore id, which makes no sense.

sem_wait(&semvar);
   //your critical section code
sem_post(&semvar);

3) You are passing the semaphore to sem_wait() and sem_post() without initializing it. You must initialize it to 1 (in your case) before using it, or you will have a deadlock.

ret = semctl( semid, 1, SETVAL, sem);
if (ret == 1)
     perror("Semaphore failed to initialize");

Study the semaphore API's from the man page and go through this example.

jquery : focus to div is not working

a <div> can be focused if it has a tabindex attribute. (the value can be set to -1)

For example:

$("#focus_point").attr("tabindex",-1).focus();

In addition, consider setting outline: none !important; so it displayed without a focus rectangle.

var element = $("#focus_point");
element.css('outline', 'none !important')
       .attr("tabindex", -1)
       .focus();

How do I convert array of Objects into one Object in JavaScript?

Tiny ES6 solution can look like:

_x000D_
_x000D_
var arr = [{key:"11", value:"1100"},{key:"22", value:"2200"}];
var object = arr.reduce(
  (obj, item) => Object.assign(obj, { [item.key]: item.value }), {});

console.log(object)
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

Also, if you use object spread, than it can look like:

var object = arr.reduce((obj, item) => ({...obj, [item.key]: item.value}) ,{});

One more solution that is 99% faster is(tested on jsperf):

var object = arr.reduce((obj, item) => (obj[item.key] = item.value, obj) ,{});

Here we benefit from comma operator, it evaluates all expression before comma and returns a last one(after last comma). So we don't copy obj each time, rather assigning new property to it.

appcompat-v7:21.0.0': No resource found that matches the given name: attr 'android:actionModeShareDrawable'

This is likely because you haven't set your compileSdkVersion to 21 in your build.gradle file. You also probably want to change your targetSdkVersion to 21.

android {
    //...
    compileSdkVersion 21

    defaultConfig {
        targetSdkVersion 21
    }
    //...
}

This requires you to have downloaded the latest SDK updates to begin with.

Android Studio SDK Manager

Once you've downloaded all the updates (don't forget to also update the Android Support Library/Repository, too!) and updated your compileSdkVersion, re-sync your Gradle project.

How can I set a cookie in react?

By default, when you fetch your URL, React native sets the cookie.

To see cookies and make sure that you can use the https://www.npmjs.com/package/react-native-cookie package. I used to be very satisfied with it.

Of course, Fetch does this when it does

credentials: "include",// or "some-origin"

Well, but how to use it

--- after installation this package ----

to get cookies:

import Cookie from 'react-native-cookie';

Cookie.get('url').then((cookie) => {
   console.log(cookie);
});

to set cookies:

Cookie.set('url', 'name of cookies', 'value  of cookies');

only this

But if you want a few, you can do it

1- as nested:

Cookie.set('url', 'name of cookies 1', 'value of cookies 1')
        .then(() => {
            Cookie.set('url', 'name of cookies 2', 'value of cookies 2')
            .then(() => {
                ...
            })
        })

2- as back together

Cookie.set('url', 'name of cookies 1', 'value  of cookies 1');
Cookie.set('url', 'name of cookies 2', 'value  of cookies 2');
Cookie.set('url', 'name of cookies 3', 'value  of cookies 3');
....

Now, if you want to make sure the cookies are set up, you can get it again to make sure.

Cookie.get('url').then((cookie) => {
  console.log(cookie);
});

Get generic type of java.util.List

Short answer: no.

This is probably a duplicate, can't find an appropriate one right now.

Java uses something called type erasure, which means at runtime both objects are equivalent. The compiler knows the lists contain integers or strings, and as such can maintain a type safe environment. This information is lost (on an object instance basis) at runtime, and the list only contain 'Objects'.

You CAN find out a little about the class, what types it might be parametrized by, but normally this is just anything that extends "Object", i.e. anything. If you define a type as

class <A extends MyClass> AClass {....}

AClass.class will only contain the fact that the parameter A is bounded by MyClass, but more than that, there's no way to tell.

Returning first x items from array

Where does the iPhone Simulator store its data?

If the Simulator is running you can get the path to any app's container:

xcrun simctl get_app_container booted <app bundle identifier>

Example output:

$ xcrun simctl get_app_container booted com.example.app
/Users/jappleseed/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices/7FB6CB8F-63CB-4F27-BDAB-884814DA6FE0/data/Containers/Bundle/Application/466AE987-76BC-47CF-A207-266E65E7DE0A/example.app

"booted" can be substituted to most simctl commands anywhere a device UDID is expected.

You can see the list of devices with xcrun simctl list and get help on specific commands with xcrun simctl help.

Update: By popular request in Xcode 8.3 you can now specify the kind of container you want by appending "app", "data", "groups", or an app group identifier.

To get the data container:

$ xcrun simctl get_app_container booted com.example.app data

How do I run .sh or .bat files from Terminal?

The .sh is for *nix systems and .bat should be for Windows. Since your example shows a bash error and you mention Terminal, I'm assuming it's OS X you're using.

In this case you should go to the folder and type:

./startup.sh

./ just means that you should call the script located in the current directory. (Alternatively, just type the full path of the startup.sh). If it doesn't work then, check if startup.sh has execute permissions.

How can I open multiple files using "with open" in Python?

For opening many files at once or for long file paths, it may be useful to break things up over multiple lines. From the Python Style Guide as suggested by @Sven Marnach in comments to another answer:

     open('/path/to/OutFile.ext', 'w') as file_2:
    file_2.write(file_1.read())

If you need derectory tree for your files, it will also works (assets supports sub-dirs):

URL r = aClass.getResource("/assets/images/base/2.png");

Matching special characters and letters in regex

Add them to the allowed characters, but you'll need to escape some of them, such as -]/\

var pattern = /^[a-zA-Z0-9!@#$%^&*()_+\-=\[\]{};':"\\|,.<>\/?]*$/

That way you can remove any individual character you want to disallow.

Also, you want to include the start and end of string placemarkers ^ and $

Update:

As elclanrs understood (and the rest of us didn't, initially), the only special characters needing to be allowed in the pattern are &-._

/^[\w&.\-]+$/

[\w] is the same as [a-zA-Z0-9_]

Though the dash doesn't need escaping when it's at the start or end of the list, I prefer to do it in case other characters are added. Additionally, the + means you need at least one of the listed characters. If zero is ok (ie an empty value), then replace it with a * instead:

/^[\w&.\-]*$/

How to find index of list item in Swift?

Any of this solution works for me

This the solution i have for Swift 4 :

let monday = Day(name: "M")
let tuesday = Day(name: "T")
let friday = Day(name: "F")

let days = [monday, tuesday, friday]

let index = days.index(where: {
            //important to test with === to be sure it's the same object reference
            $0 === tuesday
        })

Appending to an existing string

you can also use the following:

s.concat("world")

Where does one get the "sys/socket.h" header/source file?

Given that Windows has no sys/socket.h, you might consider just doing something like this:

#ifdef __WIN32__
# include <winsock2.h>
#else
# include <sys/socket.h>
#endif

I know you indicated that you won't use WinSock, but since WinSock is how TCP networking is done under Windows, I don't see that you have any alternative. Even if you use a cross-platform networking library, that library will be calling WinSock internally. Most of the standard BSD sockets API calls are implemented in WinSock, so with a bit of futzing around, you can make the same sockets-based program compile under both Windows and other OS's. Just don't forget to do a

#ifdef __WIN32__
   WORD versionWanted = MAKEWORD(1, 1);
   WSADATA wsaData;
   WSAStartup(versionWanted, &wsaData);
#endif

at the top of main()... otherwise all of your socket calls will fail under Windows, because the WSA subsystem wasn't initialized for your process.

Insertion Sort vs. Selection Sort

The logic for both algorithms is quite similar. They both have a partially sorted sub-array in the beginning of the array. The only difference is how they search for the next element to be put in the sorted array.

  • Insertion sort: inserts the next element at the correct position;

  • Selection sort: selects the smallest element and exchange it with the current item;

Also, Insertion Sort is stable, as opposed to Selection Sort.

I implemented both in python, and it's worth noting how similar they are:

def insertion(data):
    data_size = len(data)
    current = 1
    while current < data_size:
        for i in range(current):
            if data[current] < data[i]:
                temp = data[i]
                data[i] = data[current]
                data[current] = temp

        current += 1

    return data

With a small change it is possible to make the Selection Sort algorithm.

def selection(data):
    data_size = len(data)
    current = 0
    while current < data_size:
        for i in range(current, data_size):
            if data[i] < data[current]:
                temp = data[i]
                data[i] = data[current]
                data[current] = temp

        current += 1

    return data

Comparing Strings

Swift provides three ways to compare String values: string equality, prefix equality, and suffix equality.

String Equality

Two String values are considered equal if they contain exactly the same characters in the same order:

let quotation = "We're a lot alike, you and I."
let sameQuotation = "We're a lot alike, you and I."
if quotation == sameQuotation {
    println("These two strings are considered equal")
}
// prints "These two strings are considered equal"
.
.
.

Works with http(s), ports etc.

var url = new URL('/path/to/websocket', window.location.href);

url.protocol = url.protocol.replace('http', 'ws');

url.href // => ws://www.example.com:9999/path/to/websocket

SQLAlchemy default DateTime

DateTime doesn't have a default key as an input. The default key should be an input to the Column function. Try this:

import datetime
from sqlalchemy import Column, Integer, DateTime
from sqlalchemy.ext.declarative import declarative_base

Base = declarative_base()

class Test(Base):
    __tablename__ = 'test'

    id = Column(Integer, primary_key=True)
    created_date = Column(DateTime, default=datetime.datetime.utcnow)

Convert python long/int to fixed size byte array

Everyone has overcomplicated this answer:

some_int = <256 bit integer>
some_bytes = some_int.to_bytes(32, sys.byteorder)
my_bytearray = bytearray(some_bytes)

You just need to know the number of bytes that you are trying to convert. In my use cases, normally I only use this large of numbers for crypto, and at that point I have to worry about modulus and what-not, so I don't think this is a big problem to be required to know the max number of bytes to return.

Since you are doing it as 768-bit math, then instead of 32 as the argument it would be 96.

Map HTML to JSON

I got few links sometime back while reading on ExtJS full framework in itself is JSON.

http://www.thomasfrank.se/xml_to_json.html

http://camel.apache.org/xmljson.html

online XML to JSON converter : http://jsontoxml.utilities-online.info/

UPDATE BTW, To get JSON as added in question, HTML need to have type & content tags in it too like this or you need to use some xslt transformation to add these elements while doing JSON conversion

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<type>div</type>
<content>
    <type>span</type>
    <content>Text2</content>
</content>
<content>Text2</content>

What is the difference between C and embedded C?

1: C is a type of computer programming language. While embedded C is a set of language extensions for the C Programming language.

2: C has a free-format program source code, in a desktop computer. while embedded C has different format based on embedded processor (micro- controllers/microprocessors).

3: C have normal optimization, in programming. while embedded C high level optimization in programming.

4: C programming must have required operating system. while embedded C may or may not be required operating system.

5: C can use resources from OS, memory, etc, i.e all resources from desktop computer can be used by C. while embedded C can use limited resources, like RAM, ROM, and I/Os on an embedded processor.

How to add smooth scrolling to Bootstrap's scroll spy function

What onetrickpony posted is okay, but if you want to have a more general solution, you can just use the code below.

Instead of selecting just the id of the anchor, you can make it bit more standard-like and just selecting the attribute name of the <a>-Tag. This will save you from writing an extra id tag. Just add the smoothscroll class to the navbar element.

What changed

1) $('#nav ul li a[href^="#"]') to $('#nav.smoothscroll ul li a[href^="#"]')

2) $(this.hash) to $('a[name="' + this.hash.replace('#', '') + '"]')

Final Code

/* Enable smooth scrolling on all links with anchors */
$('#nav.smoothscroll ul li a[href^="#"]').on('click', function(e) {

  // prevent default anchor click behavior
  e.preventDefault();

  // store hash
  var hash = this.hash;

  // animate
  $('html, body').animate({
    scrollTop: $('a[name="' + this.hash.replace('#', '') + '"]').offset().top
  }, 300, function(){

    // when done, add hash to url
    // (default click behaviour)
    window.location.hash = hash;

  });
});

How does the Java 'for each' loop work?

The for-each loop in Java uses the underlying iterator mechanism. So it's identical to the following:

Iterator<String> iterator = someList.iterator();

while (iterator.hasNext()) {
  String item = iterator.next();
  System.out.println(item);
}

Is it safe to use Project Lombok?

I know I'm late, but I can't resist the temptation: anybody liking Lombok should also have a look at Scala. Many good ideas that you find in Lombok are part of the Scala language.

On your question: it's definitely easier to get your developers trying Lombok than Scala. Give it a try and if they like it, try Scala.

Just as a disclaimer: I like Java, too!

Adding delay between execution of two following lines

Like @Sunkas wrote, performSelector:withObject:afterDelay: is the pendant to the dispatch_after just that it is shorter and you have the normal objective-c syntax. If you need to pass arguments to the block you want to delay, you can just pass them through the parameter withObject and you will receive it in the selector you call:

[self performSelector:@selector(testStringMethod:)
           withObject:@"Test Test"
           afterDelay:0.5];

- (void)testStringMethod:(NSString *)string{
    NSLog(@"string  >>> %@", string);
}

If you still want to choose yourself if you execute it on the main thread or on the current thread, there are specific methods which allow you to specify this. Apples Documentation tells this:

If you want the message to be dequeued when the run loop is in a mode other than the default mode, use the performSelector:withObject:afterDelay:inModes: method instead. If you are not sure whether the current thread is the main thread, you can use the performSelectorOnMainThread:withObject:waitUntilDone: or performSelectorOnMainThread:withObject:waitUntilDone:modes: method to guarantee that your selector executes on the main thread. To cancel a queued message, use the cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget: or cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:selector:object: method.

SpringApplication.run main method

You need to run Application.run() because this method starts whole Spring Framework. Code below integrates your main() with Spring Boot.

Application.java

@SpringBootApplication
public class Application {

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        SpringApplication.run(Application.class, args);
    }
}

ReconTool.java

@Component
public class ReconTool implements CommandLineRunner {

    @Override
    public void run(String... args) throws Exception {
        main(args);
    }

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        // Recon Logic
    }
}

Why not SpringApplication.run(ReconTool.class, args)

Because this way spring is not fully configured (no component scan etc.). Only bean defined in run() is created (ReconTool).

Example project: https://github.com/mariuszs/spring-run-magic

sql ORDER BY multiple values in specific order?

Since i don't have enough reputation to write as a comment, added this as a new answer.

You can add asc or desc to order by clause.

ORDER BY x_field='A' ASC, x_field='I' DESC, x_field='P' DESC, x_field='F' ASC

which makes I first, P second and A as last one and F before the last.

I would use Winamp to do this. Create a playlist of files you want to merge into one, select Disk Writer output plugin, choose filename and you're done. The file you will get will be correct MP3 file and you can set bitrate etc.

Is there a printf converter to print in binary format?

What is the inclusive range of float and double in Java?

Binary floating-point numbers have interesting precision characteristics, since the value is stored as a binary integer raised to a binary power. When dealing with sub-integer values (that is, values between 0 and 1), negative powers of two "round off" very differently than negative powers of ten.

For example, the number 0.1 can be represented by 1 x 10-1, but there is no combination of base-2 exponent and mantissa that can precisely represent 0.1 -- the closest you get is 0.10000000000000001.

So if you have an application where you are working with values like 0.1 or 0.01 a great deal, but where small (less than 0.000000000000001%) errors cannot be tolerated, then binary floating-point numbers are not for you.

Conversely, if powers of ten are not "special" to your application (powers of ten are important in currency calculations, but not in, say, most applications of physics), then you are actually better off using binary floating-point, since it's usually at least an order of magnitude faster, and it is much more memory efficient.

The article from the Python documentation on floating point issues and limitations does an excellent job of explaining this issue in an easy to understand form. Wikipedia also has a good article on floating point that explains the math behind the representation.

What's the difference between fill_parent and wrap_content?

Either attribute can be applied to View's (visual control) horizontal or vertical size. It's used to set a View or Layouts size based on either it's contents or the size of it's parent layout rather than explicitly specifying a dimension.

fill_parent (deprecated and renamed MATCH_PARENT in API Level 8 and higher)

Setting the layout of a widget to fill_parent will force it to expand to take up as much space as is available within the layout element it's been placed in. It's roughly equivalent of setting the dockstyle of a Windows Form Control to Fill.

Setting a top level layout or control to fill_parent will force it to take up the whole screen.

wrap_content

Setting a View's size to wrap_content will force it to expand only far enough to contain the values (or child controls) it contains. For controls -- like text boxes (TextView) or images (ImageView) -- this will wrap the text or image being shown. For layout elements it will resize the layout to fit the controls / layouts added as its children.

It's roughly the equivalent of setting a Windows Form Control's Autosize property to True.

How do I make calls to a REST API using C#?

I did it in this simple way, with Web API 2.0. You can remove UseDefaultCredentials. I used it for my own use cases.

List<YourObject> listObjects = new List<YourObject>();

string response = "";
using (var client = new WebClient() { UseDefaultCredentials = true })
{
     response = client.DownloadString(apiUrl);
}

listObjects = JsonConvert.DeserializeObject<List<YourObject>>(response);
return listObjects;

selenium - chromedriver executable needs to be in PATH

Another way is download and unzip chromedriver and put 'chromedriver.exe' in C:\Python27\Scripts and then you need not to provide the path of driver, just

driver= webdriver.Chrome()

will work

Can testify that this also works for Python3.7.

How do I measure time elapsed in Java?

Java provides the static method System.currentTimeMillis(). And that's returning a long value, so it's a good reference. A lot of other classes accept a 'timeInMillis' parameter which is long as well.

And a lot of people find it easier to use the Joda Time library to do calculations on dates and times.

HSL to RGB color conversion

Here's a fast, super-simple, branchless version in GLSL:

vec3 hsl2rgb( vec3 c ) {
    vec3 rgb = clamp(abs(mod(c.x*6.0 + vec3(0.0, 4.0, 2.0), 6.0)-3.0)-1.0, 0.0, 1.0);
    return c.z + c.y * (rgb-0.5)*(1.0-abs(2.0*c.z-1.0));
}

Doesn't get much shorter than that ~

Looping through list items with jquery

Try this code. By using the parent>child selector "#productList li" it should find all li elements. Then, you can iterate through the result object using the each() method which will only alter li elements that have been found.

listItems = $("#productList li").each(function(){

        var product = $(this);
        var productid = product.children(".productId").val();
        var productPrice = product.find(".productPrice").val();

        totalItemsHidden.val(parseInt(totalItemsHidden.val(), 10) + 1);
        subtotalHidden.val(parseFloat(subtotalHidden.val()) + parseFloat(productMSRP));
        savingsHidden.val(parseFloat(savingsHidden.val()) + parseFloat(productMSRP - productPrice));
        totalHidden.val(parseFloat(totalHidden.val()) + parseFloat(productPrice));

change figure size and figure format in matplotlib

If you need to change the figure size after you have created it, use the methods

fig = plt.figure()
fig.set_figheight(value_height)
fig.set_figwidth(value_width)

where value_height and value_width are in inches. For me this is the most practical way.

Convert string to hex-string in C#

First you'll need to get it into a byte[], so do this:

byte[] ba = Encoding.Default.GetBytes("sample");

and then you can get the string:

var hexString = BitConverter.ToString(ba);

now, that's going to return a string with dashes (-) in it so you can then simply use this:

hexString = hexString.Replace("-", "");

to get rid of those if you want.

NOTE: you could use a different Encoding if you needed to.

I assume you stop execution if something goes wrong.

How can I see all the "special" characters permissible in a varchar or char field in SQL Server?

i think that special characters are # and @ only... query will list both.

DECLARE  @str VARCHAR(50)
SET @str = '[azAB09ram#reddy@wer45' + CHAR(5) + 'a~b$'
SELECT DISTINCT poschar
FROM   MASTER..spt_values S
       CROSS APPLY (SELECT SUBSTRING(@str,NUMBER,1) AS poschar) t
WHERE  NUMBER > 0
       AND NUMBER <= LEN(@str)
       AND NOT (ASCII(t.poschar) BETWEEN 65 AND 90
                 OR ASCII(t.poschar) BETWEEN 97 AND 122
                 OR ASCII(t.poschar) BETWEEN 48 AND 57)

PHP/MySQL: How to create a comment section in your website

Normalization is your best friend in comment/rank/vote system. Learn it. A lot of sites are now moving to PDO ... learn that as well.

there are no right , right-er, or wrong (well there is) ways of doing it, you need to know the basic concepts and take them from there. IF you don't feel like learning, then perhaps invest in a framework like cakephp or zend framework, or a ready made system like wordpress or joomla.

I'd also recommend the book wicked cool php scripts as it has a comment system example in it.

Manifest merger failed : uses-sdk:minSdkVersion 14

The best way is to let the Android Studio fix the issue.

I did the below, and it worked fine.

  1. Open your project in Android Studio, errors will be popup, if there is a link given to fix it click on it.

  2. Re-open your project in Android Studio, errors will be popup, there will be a link this time if it's not given in the Step 1, click on the given link to fix it.

Note that both operations took several minutes of time, but fixed all issues.

Angular 2: Passing Data to Routes?

You can do this:

app-routing-modules.ts:

import { NgModule                  }    from '@angular/core';
import { RouterModule, Routes      }    from '@angular/router';
import { PowerBoosterComponent     }    from './component/power-booster.component';

export const routes: Routes = [
  { path:  'pipeexamples',component: PowerBoosterComponent,
data:{  name:'shubham' } },
    ];
    @NgModule({
      imports: [ RouterModule.forRoot(routes) ],
      exports: [ RouterModule ]
    })
    export class AppRoutingModule {}

In this above route, I want to send data via a pipeexamples path to PowerBoosterComponent.So now I can receive this data in PowerBoosterComponent like this:

power-booster-component.ts

import { Component, OnInit } from '@angular/core';
import { Router, ActivatedRoute, Params, Data } from '@angular/router';

@Component({
  selector: 'power-booster',
  template: `
    <h2>Power Booster</h2>`
})

export class PowerBoosterComponent implements OnInit {
  constructor(
    private route: ActivatedRoute,
    private router: Router

  ) { }
  ngOnInit() {
    //this.route.snapshot.data['name']
    console.log("Data via params: ",this.route.snapshot.data['name']);
  }
}

So you can get the data by this.route.snapshot.data['name'].

LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'D:\...\MyProj.exe'

You probably had a stray build process that was locking the executable, and it (the stray process) didn't get cleaned up. In that case, shut down visual studio, open up process explorer, and nuke every process you can find that is related to visual studio. Then open up visual studio again and try rebuilding your project.

How to set gradle home while importing existing project in Android studio

Mac OSX / Linux

Step 1: Open terminal :)
Step 2: Open .bash_profile in vim to edit:
        > vi ~/.bash_profile
Step 3: Add line:
        > export GRADLE_HOME=/usr/local/opt/gradle
        (for me it was this location, it can be different for u)
Step 4: Add line:
        > export PATH="$PATH:$GRADLE_HOME/bin"
        (to export bin directory of gradle)
Step 5: Verify by reopening the terminal or new tab, and check by echoing:
        > echo $GRADLE_HOME

Horizontal list items

Here you can find a working example, with some more suggestions about dynamic resizing of the list.

I've used display:inline-block and a percentage padding so that the parent list can dynamically change size:

display:inline-block;
padding:10px 1%;
width: 30%

plus two more rules to remove padding for the first and last items.

ul#menuItems li:first-child{padding-left:0;}
ul#menuItems li:last-child{padding-right:0;}

How to amend a commit without changing commit message (reusing the previous one)?

just to add some clarity, you need to stage changes with git add, then amend last commit:

git add /path/to/modified/files
git commit --amend --no-edit

This is especially useful for if you forgot to add some changes in last commit or when you want to add more changes without creating new commits by reusing the last commit.

How do I programmatically click a link with javascript?

iOS Swift - Get the Current Local Time and Date Timestamp

First I would recommend you to store your timestamp as a NSNumber in your Firebase Database, instead of storing it as a String.

Another thing worth mentioning here, is that if you want to manipulate dates with Swift, you'd better use Date instead of NSDate, except if you're interacting with some Obj-C code in your app.

You can of course use both, but the Documentation states:

Date bridges to the NSDate class. You can use these interchangeably in code that interacts with Objective-C APIs.

Now to answer your question, I think the problem here is because of the timezone.

For example if you print(Date()), as for now, you would get:

2017-09-23 06:59:34 +0000

This is the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

So depending on where you are located (or where your users are located) you need to adjust the timezone before (or after, when you try to access the data for example) storing your Date:

    let now = Date()

    let formatter = DateFormatter()

    formatter.timeZone = TimeZone.current

    formatter.dateFormat = "yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm"

    let dateString = formatter.string(from: now)

Then you have your properly formatted String, reflecting the current time at your location, and you're free to do whatever you want with it :) (convert it to a Date / NSNumber, or store it directly as a String in the database..)

Add custom buttons on Slick Carousel

This worked for me when a lot of these other items did not:

}

               {1500; "Between 1500 and 2000"}}}))}}, 2)),)), )

EU syntax:

Set content of HTML <span> with Javascript

To do it without using a JavaScript library such as jQuery, you'd do it like this:

var span = document.getElementById("myspan"),
    text = document.createTextNode(''+intValue);
span.innerHTML = ''; // clear existing
span.appendChild(text);

If you do want to use jQuery, it's just this:

$("#myspan").text(''+intValue);

Swift's guard keyword

With using guard our intension is clear. we do not want to execute rest of the code if that particular condition is not satisfied. here we are able to extending chain too, please have a look at below code:

guard let value1 = number1, let value2 = number2 else { return }
 // do stuff here

PHP, get file name without file extension

Another approach is by using regular expressions.

$fileName = basename($filePath);
$fileNameNoExtension = preg_replace("/\.[^.]+$/", "", $fileName);

This removes from the last period . up until the end of the string.

AngularJS Directive Restrict A vs E

According to the documentation:

When should I use an attribute versus an element? Use an element when you are creating a component that is in control of the template. The common case for this is when you are creating a Domain-Specific Language for parts of your template. Use an attribute when you are decorating an existing element with new functionality.

Edit following comment on pitfalls for a complete answer:

Assuming you're building an app that should run on Internet Explorer <= 8, whom support has been dropped by AngularJS team from AngularJS 1.3, you have to follow the following instructions in order to make it working: https://docs.angularjs.org/guide/ie

Properly Handling Errors in VBA (Excel)

I keep things simple:
At the module level I define two variables and set one to the name of the module itself.

    Private Const ThisModuleName As String = "mod_Custom_Functions"
    Public sLocalErrorMsg                   As String

Within each Sub/Function of the module I define a local variable

    Dim ThisRoutineName                     As String

I set ThisRoutineName to the name of the sub or function

' Housekeeping
    On Error Goto ERR_RTN
    ThisRoutineName = "CopyWorksheet"

I then send all errors to an ERR_RTN: when they occur, but I first set the sLocalErrorMsg to define what the error actually is and provide some debugging info.

    If Len(Trim(FromWorksheetName)) < 1 Then
        sLocalErrorMsg = "Parameter 'FromWorksheetName' Is Missing."
        GoTo ERR_RTN
    End If

At the bottom of each sub/function, I direct the logic flow as follows

    '
    ' The "normal" logic goes here for what the routine does
    '
    GoTo EXIT_RTN

    ERR_RTN:

        On Error Resume Next

    ' Call error handler if we went this far.
        ErrorHandler ThisModuleName, ThisRoutineName, sLocalErrorMsg, Err.Description, Err.Number, False

    EXIT_RTN:

        On Error Resume Next
     '
     ' Some closing logic
     '
    End If

I then have a seperate module I put in all projects called "mod_Error_Handler".

    '
    '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''
    ' Subroutine Name:     ErrorHandler                                                     '
    '                                                                                       '
    ' Description:                                                                          '
    ' This module will handle the common error alerts. '
    '                                                                                       '
    ' Inputs:                                                                               '
    ' ModuleName String 'The name of the module error is in. '
    ' RoutineName String 'The name of the routine error in in. '
    ' LocalErrorMsg String 'A local message to assist with troubleshooting.'
    ' ERRDescription String 'The Windows Error Description. '
    ' ERRCode Long 'The Windows Error Code. '
    ' Terminate Boolean 'End program if error encountered? '

    End Sub

The end result is a pop-up error message teling me in what module, what soubroutine, and what the error message specifically was. In addition, it also will insert the Windows error message and code.

Getting rid of all the rounded corners in Twitter Bootstrap

Or you could add this to the html of the element you want to remove the border radius from (this way you wouldn't be removing it from all buttons / elements):

Big-O summary for Java Collections Framework implementations?

The guy above gave comparison for HashMap / HashSet vs. TreeMap / TreeSet.

I will talk about ArrayList vs. LinkedList:

ArrayList:

  • O(1) get()
  • amortized O(1) add()
  • if you insert or delete an element in the middle using ListIterator.add() or Iterator.remove(), it will be O(n) to shift all the following elements

LinkedList:

  • O(n) get()
  • O(1) add()
  • if you insert or delete an element in the middle using ListIterator.add() or Iterator.remove(), it will be O(1)

How to restore the permissions of files and directories within git if they have been modified?

Git doesn't store file permissions other than executable scripts. Consider using something like git-cache-meta to save file ownership and permissions.

Git can only store two types of modes: 755 (executable) and 644 (not executable). If your file was 444 git would store it has 644.

@echo off
setlocal enableextensions enabledelayedexpansion
set chkfile=drivechk.tmp
if "%1" == "" goto :usage
set drive=%1
set drive=%drive:\=%
set drive=%drive::=%
dir %drive%:>nul 2>%chkfile%
for %%? in (%chkfile%) do (
  set chksize=%%~z?
)
if %chksize% neq 0 (
  more %chkfile%
  del %chkfile%
  goto :eof
)
del %chkfile%
for /f "tokens=3" %%a in ('dir %drive%:\') do (
  set bytesfree=%%a
)
set bytesfree=%bytesfree:,=%
echo %bytesfree% byte(s) free on volume %drive%:
endlocal

goto :eof
:usage
  echo.
  echo usage: freedisk ^<driveletter^> (eg.: freedisk c)

note1: you may type simple letter (eg. x) or may use x: or x:\ format as drive letter in the argument

note2: script will display stderr from %chkfile% only if the size bigger than 0

note3: I saved this script as freedisk.cmd (see usage)

How do I Search/Find and Replace in a standard string?

The easiest way (offering something near what you wrote) is to use Boost.Regex, specifically regex_replace.

std::string has built in find() and replace() methods, but they are more cumbersome to work with as they require dealing with indices and string lengths.

How to convert char* to wchar_t*?

I did something like this. The first 2 zeros are because I don't know what kind of ascii type things this command wants from me. The general feeling I had was to create a temp char array. pass in the wide char array. boom. it works. The +1 ensures that the null terminating character is in the right place.

char tempFilePath[MAX_PATH] = "I want to convert this to wide chars";

int len = strlen(tempFilePath);

Abstract methods in Java

If you use the java keyword abstract you cannot provide an implementation.

Sometimes this idea comes from having a background in C++ and mistaking the virtual keyword in C++ as being "almost the same" as the abstract keyword in Java.

In C++ virtual indicates that a method can be overridden and polymorphism will follow, but abstract in Java is not the same thing. In Java abstract is more like a pure virtual method, or one where the implementation must be provided by a subclass. Since Java supports polymorphism without the need to declare it, all methods are virtual from a C++ point of view. So if you want to provide a method that might be overridden, just write it as a "normal" method.

Now to protect a method from being overridden, Java uses the keyword final in coordination with the method declaration to indicate that subclasses cannot override the method.

How to run a .jar in mac?

You don't need JDK to run Java based programs. JDK is for development which stands for Java Development Kit.

You need JRE which should be there in Mac.

Try: java -jar Myjar_file.jar

EDIT: According to this article, for Mac OS 10

The Java runtime is no longer installed automatically as part of the OS installation.

Then, you need to install JRE to your machine.

What is the difference between origin and upstream on GitHub?

after cloning a fork you have to explicitly add a remote upstream, with git add remote "the original repo you forked from". This becomes your upstream, you mostly fetch and merge from your upstream. Any other business such as pushing from your local to upstream should be done using pull request.

PHP convert XML to JSON

If you would like to only convert a specific part of the XML to JSON, you can use XPath to retrieve this and convert that to JSON.

<?php
$file = @file_get_contents($xml_File, FILE_TEXT);
$xml = new SimpleXMLElement($file);
$xml_Excerpt = @$xml->xpath('/states/state[@id="AL"]')[0]; // [0] gets the node
echo json_encode($xml_Excerpt);
?>

Please note that if you Xpath is incorrect, this will die with an error. So if you're debugging this through AJAX calls I recommend you log the response bodies as well.

How to edit HTML input value colour?

Maybe something like this (just add your style):

<input type="text"
       size="35"
       value="Job Title e.g. Assistant Manager"
       style="background-color:white;
              border: solid 1px #6E6E6E;
              height: 30px;
              font-size:18px;
              vertical-align:9px;color:#bbb"
        onfocus="if(this.value == 'Job Title e.g. Assistant Manager') {
                    this.value = '';
                    this.style.color='#000';
                 }" />

<input type="text"
       name="searchterm" size="35"
       style="background-color:white;
              border: solid 1px #6E6E6E;
              height: 30px;
              font-size:18px;
              vertical-align:9px" />

UPDATE: Since placeholder attribute is very well supported on all major browsers, there is no need to do anything manually. Its possible to achieve the same thing with this:

<input type="text"
       size="35"
       placeholder="Job Title e.g. Assistant Manager" />

How to convert currentTimeMillis to a date in Java?

I do it like this:

static String formatDate(long dateInMillis) {
    Date date = new Date(dateInMillis);
    return DateFormat.getDateInstance().format(date);
}

You can also use getDateInstance(int style) with following parameters:

DateFormat.SHORT

DateFormat.MEDIUM

DateFormat.LONG

DateFormat.FULL

DateFormat.DEFAULT

Generating random integer from a range

int RandU(int nMin, int nMax)
{
    return nMin + (int)((double)rand() / (RAND_MAX+1) * (nMax-nMin+1));
}

This is a mapping of 32768 integers to (nMax-nMin+1) integers. The mapping will be quite good if (nMax-nMin+1) is small (as in your requirement). Note however that if (nMax-nMin+1) is large, the mapping won't work (For example - you can't map 32768 values to 30000 values with equal probability). If such ranges are needed - you should use a 32-bit or 64-bit random source, instead of the 15-bit rand(), or ignore rand() results which are out-of-range.

Can enums be subclassed to add new elements?

Having had this same problem myself I'd like to post my perspective. I think that there are a couple motivating factors for doing something like this:

  • You want to have some related enum codes, but in different classes. In my case I had a base class with several codes defined in an associated enum. At some later date (today!) I wanted to provide some new functionality to the base class, which also meant new codes for the enum.
  • The derived class would support both the base classes' enum as well as its own. No duplicate enum values! So: how to have an enum for the subclass that includes the enum's of its parent along with its new values.

Using an interface doesn't really cut it: you can accidentally get duplicate enum values. Not desirable.

I ended up just combining the enums: this ensures that there cannot be any duplicate values, at the expense of being less tightly tied to its associated class. But, I figured the duplicate issue was my main concern...

Call a function after previous function is complete

If you're using jQuery 1.5 you can use the new Deferreds pattern:

$('a.button').click(function(){
    if(condition == 'true'){
        $.when(function1()).then(function2());
    }
    else {
        doThis(someVariable);
    }
});

Edit: Updated blog link:

Rebecca Murphy had a great write-up on this here: http://rmurphey.com/blog/2010/12/25/deferreds-coming-to-jquery/

Deep cloning objects

The reason not to use ICloneable is not because it doesn't have a generic interface. The reason not to use it is because it's vague. It doesn't make clear whether you're getting a shallow or a deep copy; that's up to the implementer.

Yes, MemberwiseClone makes a shallow copy, but the opposite of MemberwiseClone isn't Clone; it would be, perhaps, DeepClone, which doesn't exist. When you use an object through its ICloneable interface, you can't know which kind of cloning the underlying object performs. (And XML comments won't make it clear, because you'll get the interface comments rather than the ones on the object's Clone method.)

What I usually do is simply make a Copy method that does exactly what I want.

Fastest way to count number of occurrences in a Python list

By the use of Counter dictionary counting the occurrences of all element as well as most common element in python list with its occurrence value in most efficient way.

If our python list is:-

l=['1', '1', '1', '1', '1', '1', '2', '2', '2', '2', '7', '7', '7', '10', '10']

To find occurrence of every items in the python list use following:-

\>>from collections import Counter

\>>c=Counter(l)

\>>print c

Counter({'1': 6, '2': 4, '7': 3, '10': 2})

To find most/highest occurrence of items in the python list:-

\>>k=c.most_common()

\>>k

[('1', 6), ('2', 4), ('7', 3), ('10', 2)]

For Highest one:-

\>>k[0][1]

6

For the item just use k[0][0]

\>>k[0][0]

'1'

For nth highest item and its no of occurrence in the list use follow:-

**for n=2 **

\>>print k[n-1][0] # For item

2

\>>print k[n-1][1] # For value

Can .NET load and parse a properties file equivalent to Java Properties class?

C# generally uses xml-based config files rather than the *.ini-style file like you said, so there's nothing built-in to handle this. However, google returns a number of promising results.

SQLSTATE[HY000] [1698] Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'

MySQL makes a difference between "localhost" and "127.0.0.1".

It might be possible that 'root'@'localhost' is not allowed because there is an entry in the user table that will only allow root login from 127.0.0.1.

This could also explain why some application on your server can connect to the database and some not because there are different ways of connecting to the database. And you currently do not allow it through "localhost".

round() doesn't seem to be rounding properly

You get '5.6' if you do str(round(n, 1)) instead of just round(n, 1).

Auto height of div

div's will naturally resize in accordance with their content.

If you set no height on your div, it will expand to contain its conent.

An exception to this rule is when the div contains floating elements. If this is the case you'll need to do a bit extra to ensure that the containing div (wrapper) clears the floats.

Here's some ways to do this:

#wrapper{
overflow:hidden;
}

Or

#wrapper:after
{
content:".";
display:block;
clear:both;
visibility:hidden;
}

How do I set/unset a cookie with jQuery?

I thought Vignesh Pichamani's answer was the simplest and cleanest. Just adding to his the ability to set the number of days before expiration:

EDIT: also added 'never expires' option if no day number is set

        function setCookie(key, value, days) {
            var expires = new Date();
            if (days) {
                expires.setTime(expires.getTime() + (days * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000));
                document.cookie = key + '=' + value + ';expires=' + expires.toUTCString();
            } else {
                document.cookie = key + '=' + value + ';expires=Fri, 30 Dec 9999 23:59:59 GMT;';
            }
        }

        function getCookie(key) {
            var keyValue = document.cookie.match('(^|;) ?' + key + '=([^;]*)(;|$)');
            return keyValue ? keyValue[2] : null;
        }

Set the cookie:

       //In case you need to force of modifing the Element-Reference value on-focus of input:
       var eventStrToReplace = eventStr.replace(/[^0-9,eE\.\+]+/g, "");
       if (eventStr != eventStrToReplace) {
           eRef.value = eventStrToReplace;
       }

      return this.getNumberOnChange(eventStr);

    }

The idea here:

  1. Letting the (ngModelChange) method to do the Setter job:

    (ngModelChange)="range=saverange($event, points)

  2. Enabling direct access to the native Dom element using this call:

    eRef.value = eventStrToReplace;

Changing the default icon in a Windows Forms application

I added the .ico file to my project, setting the Build Action to Embedded Resource. I specified the path to that file as the project's icon in the project settings, and then I used the code below in the form's constructor to share it. This way, I don't need to maintain a resources file anywhere with copies of the icon. All I need to do to update it is to replace the file.

var exe = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly();
var iconStream = exe.GetManifestResourceStream("Namespace.IconName.ico");
if (iconStream != null) Icon = new Icon(iconStream);

Automatic date update in a cell when another cell's value changes (as calculated by a formula)

You could fill the dependend cell (D2) by a User Defined Function (VBA Macro Function) that takes the value of the C2-Cell as input parameter, returning the current date as ouput.

Having C2 as input parameter for the UDF in D2 tells Excel that it needs to reevaluate D2 everytime C2 changes (that is if auto-calculation of formulas is turned on for the workbook).

EDIT:

Here is some code:

For the UDF:

    Public Function UDF_Date(ByVal data) As Date

        UDF_Date = Now()

    End Function

As Formula in D2:

=UDF_Date(C2)

You will have to give the D2-Cell a Date-Time Format, or it will show a numeric representation of the date-value.

And you can expand the formula over the desired range by draging it if you keep the C2 reference in the D2-formula relative.

Note: This still might not be the ideal solution because every time Excel recalculates the workbook the date in D2 will be reset to the current value. To make D2 only reflect the last time C2 was changed there would have to be some kind of tracking of the past value(s) of C2. This could for example be implemented in the UDF by providing also the address alonside the value of the input parameter, storing the input parameters in a hidden sheet, and comparing them with the previous values everytime the UDF gets called.

Addendum:

Here is a sample implementation of an UDF that tracks the changes of the cell values and returns the date-time when the last changes was detected. When using it, please be aware that:

  • The usage of the UDF is the same as described above.

  • The UDF works only for single cell input ranges.

  • The cell values are tracked by storing the last value of cell and the date-time when the change was detected in the document properties of the workbook. If the formula is used over large datasets the size of the file might increase considerably as for every cell that is tracked by the formula the storage requirements increase (last value of cell + date of last change.) Also, maybe Excel is not capable of handling very large amounts of document properties and the code might brake at a certain point.

  • If the name of a worksheet is changed all the tracking information of the therein contained cells is lost.

  • The code might brake for cell-values for which conversion to string is non-deterministic.

  • The code below is not tested and should be regarded only as proof of concept. Use it at your own risk.

    Public Function UDF_Date(ByVal inData As Range) As Date

        Dim wb As Workbook
        Dim dProps As DocumentProperties
        Dim pValue As DocumentProperty
        Dim pDate As DocumentProperty
        Dim sName As String
        Dim sNameDate As String

        Dim bDate As Boolean
        Dim bValue As Boolean
        Dim bChanged As Boolean

        bDate = True
        bValue = True

        bChanged = False

        Dim sVal As String
        Dim dDate As Date

        sName = inData.Address & "_" & inData.Worksheet.Name
        sNameDate = sName & "_dat"

        sVal = CStr(inData.Value)
        dDate = Now()

        Set wb = inData.Worksheet.Parent

        Set dProps = wb.CustomDocumentProperties

    On Error Resume Next

        Set pValue = dProps.Item(sName)

        If Err.Number <> 0 Then
            bValue = False
            Err.Clear
        End If

    On Error GoTo 0

        If Not bValue Then
            bChanged = True
            Set pValue = dProps.Add(sName, False, msoPropertyTypeString, sVal)
        Else
            bChanged = pValue.Value <> sVal
            If bChanged Then
                pValue.Value = sVal
            End If
        End If

    On Error Resume Next

        Set pDate = dProps.Item(sNameDate)

        If Err.Number <> 0 Then
            bDate = False
            Err.Clear
        End If

    On Error GoTo 0

        If Not bDate Then
            Set pDate = dProps.Add(sNameDate, False, msoPropertyTypeDate, dDate)
        End If

        If bChanged Then
            pDate.Value = dDate
        Else
            dDate = pDate.Value
        End If

        UDF_Date = dDate
     End Function

Make the insertion of the date conditional upon the range.

This has an advantage of not changing the dates unless the content of the cell is changed, and it is in the range C2:C2, even if the sheet is closed and saved, it doesn't recalculate unless the adjacent cell changes.

How to configure multi-module Maven + Sonar + JaCoCo to give merged coverage report?

As Sonars sonar.jacoco.reportPath, sonar.jacoco.itReportPath and sonar.jacoco.reportPaths have all been deprecated, you should use sonar.coverage.jacoco.xmlReportPaths now. This also has some impact if you want to configure a multi module maven project with Sonar and Jacoco.

As @Lonzak pointed out, since Sonar 0.7.7, you can use Sonars report aggragation goal. Just put in you parent pom the following dependency:

<plugin>
    <groupId>org.jacoco</groupId>
    <artifactId>jacoco-maven-plugin</artifactId>
    <version>0.8.5</version>
    <executions>
        <execution>
            <id>report</id>
            <goals>
                <goal>report-aggregate</goal>
            </goals>
            <phase>verify</phase>
        </execution>
    </executions>
</plugin>

As current versions of the jacoco-maven-plugin are compatible with the xml-reports, this will create for every module in it's own target folder a site/jacoco-aggregate folder containing a jacoco.xml file.

To let Sonar combine all the modules, use following command:

mvn -Dsonar.coverage.jacoco.xmlReportPaths=full-path-to-module1/target/site/jacoco-aggregate/jacoco.xml,module2...,module3... clean verify sonar:sonar

To keep my answer short and precise, I did not mention the maven-surefire-plugin and maven-failsafe-plugin dependencies. You can just add them without any other configuration:

<plugin>
    <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
    <artifactId>maven-surefire-plugin</artifactId>
    <version>2.22.2</version>
</plugin>
<plugin>
    <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
    <artifactId>maven-failsafe-plugin</artifactId>
    <version>2.22.2</version>
    <executions>
        <execution>
        <id>integration-test</id>
            <goals>
                <goal>integration-test</goal>
            </goals>
        </execution>
    </executions>
</plugin>

How to launch an application from a browser?

The correct method is to register your custom URL Protocol in windows registry as follows:

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\customurl]
@="Description here"
"URL Protocol"=""

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\customurl\shell]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\customurl\shell\open]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\customurl\shell\open\command]
@="\"C:\\Path To Your EXE\\ExeName.exe\" \"%1\""

Once the above keys and values are added, from the web page, just call "customurl:\\parameter1=xxx&parameter2=xxx" . You will receive the entire url as the argument in exe, which you need to process inside your exe. Change 'customurl' with the text of your choice.

How to make a ssh connection with python?

Notice that this doesn't work in Windows.
The module pxssh does exactly what you want:
For example, to run 'ls -l' and to print the output, you need to do something like that :

from pexpect import pxssh
s = pxssh.pxssh()
if not s.login ('localhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword'):
    print "SSH session failed on login."
    print str(s)
else:
    print "SSH session login successful"
    s.sendline ('ls -l')
    s.prompt()         # match the prompt
    print s.before # print everything before the prompt.
    s.logout()

Python nonlocal statement

Quote from the Python 3 Reference:

The nonlocal statement causes the listed identifiers to refer to previously bound variables in the nearest enclosing scope excluding globals.

As said in the reference, in case of several nested functions only variable in the nearest enclosing function is modified:

def outer():
    def inner():
        def innermost():
            nonlocal x
            x = 3

        x = 2
        innermost()
        if x == 3: print('Inner x has been modified')

    x = 1
    inner()
    if x == 3: print('Outer x has been modified')

x = 0
outer()
if x == 3: print('Global x has been modified')

# Inner x has been modified

The "nearest" variable can be several levels away:

def outer():
    def inner():
        def innermost():
            nonlocal x
            x = 3

        innermost()

    x = 1
    inner()
    if x == 3: print('Outer x has been modified')

x = 0
outer()
if x == 3: print('Global x has been modified')

# Outer x has been modified

But it cannot be a global variable:

def outer():
    def inner():
        def innermost():
            nonlocal x
            x = 3

        innermost()

    inner()

x = 0
outer()
if x == 3: print('Global x has been modified')

# SyntaxError: no binding for nonlocal 'x' found

How would I stop a while loop after n amount of time?

Petr Krampl's answer is the best in my opinion, but more needs to be said about the nature of loops and how to optimize the use of the system. Beginners who happen upon this thread may be further confused by the logical and algorithmic errors in the question and existing answers.

First, let's look at what your code does as you originally wrote it:

while True:
    test = 0
    if test == 5:
        break
    test = test - 1

If you say while True in a loop context, normally your intention is to stay in the loop forever. If that's not your intention, you should consider other options for the structure of the loop. Petr Krampl showed you a perfectly reasonable way to handle this that's much more clear to someone else who may read your code. In addition, it will be more clear to you several months later should you need to revisit your code to add or fix something. Well-written code is part of your documentation. There are usually multiple ways to do things, but that doesn't make all of the ways equally valid in all contexts. while true is a good example of this especially in this context.

Next, we will look at the algorithmic error in your original code. The very first thing you do in the loop is assign 0 to test. The very next thing you do is to check if the value of test is 5, which will never be the case unless you have multiple threads modifying the same memory location. Threading is not in scope for this discussion, but it's worth noting that the code could technically work, but even with multiple threads a lot would be missing, e.g. semaphores. Anyway, you will sit in this loop forever regardless of the fact that the sentinel is forcing an infinite loop.

The statement test = test - 1 is useless regardless of what it does because the variable is reset at the beginning of the next iteration of the loop. Even if you changed it to be test = 5, the loop would still be infinite because the value is reset each time. If you move the initialization statement outside the loop, then it will at least have a chance to exit. What you may have intended was something like this:

test = 0
while True:
    test = test - 1
    if test == 5:
        break

The order of the statements in the loop depends on the logic of your program. It will work in either order, though, which is the main point.

The next issue is the potential and probable logical error of starting at 0, continually subtracting 1, and then comparing with a positive number. Yes, there are occasions where this may actually be what you intend to do as long as you understand the implications, but this is most likely not what you intended. Newer versions of python will not wrap around when you reach the 'bottom' of the range of an integer like C and various other languages. It will let you continue to subtract 1 until you've filled the available memory on your system or at least what's allocated to your process. Look at the following script and the results:

test = 0

while True:
    test  -= 1

    if test % 100 == 0:
        print "Test = %d" % test

    if test == 5:
        print "Test = 5"
        break

which produces this:

Test = -100
Test = -200
Test = -300
Test = -400
...
Test = -21559000
Test = -21559100
Test = -21559200
Test = -21559300
...

The value of test will never be 5, so this loop will never exit.

To add to Petr Krampl's answer, here's a version that's probably closer to what you actually intended in addition to exiting the loop after a certain period of time:

import time

test = 0
timeout = 300   # [seconds]

timeout_start = time.time()

while time.time() < timeout_start + timeout:
    if test == 5:
        break
    test -= 1

It still won't break based on the value of test, but this is a perfectly valid loop with a reasonable initial condition. Further boundary checking could help you to avoid execution of a very long loop for no reason, e.g. check if the value of test is less than 5 upon loop entry, which would immediately break the loop.

One other thing should be mentioned that no other answer has addressed. Sometimes when you loop like this, you may not want to consume the CPU for the entire allotted time. For example, say you are checking the value of something that changes every second. If you don't introduce some kind of delay, you would use every available CPU cycle allotted to your process. That's fine if it's necessary, but good design will allow a lot of programs to run in parallel on your system without overburdening the available resources. A simple sleep statement will free up the vast majority of the CPU cycles allotted to your process so other programs can do work.

The following example isn't very useful, but it does demonstrate the concept. Let's say you want to print something every second. One way to do it would be like this:

import time

tCurrent = time.time()

while True:
    if time.time() >= tCurrent + 1:
        print "Time = %d" % time.time()
        tCurrent = time.time()

The output would be this:

Time = 1498226796
Time = 1498226797
Time = 1498226798
Time = 1498226799

And the process CPU usage would look like this:

enter image description here

That's a huge amount of CPU usage for doing basically no work. This code is much nicer to the rest of the system:

import time

tCurrent = time.time()

while True:
    time.sleep(0.25) # sleep for 250 milliseconds
    if time.time() >= tCurrent + 1:
        print "Time = %d" % time.time()
        tCurrent = time.time()

The output is the same:

Time = 1498226796
Time = 1498226797
Time = 1498226798
Time = 1498226799

and the CPU usage is way, way lower:

enter image description here

Using ZXing to create an Android barcode scanning app

Using Zxing this way requires a user to also install the barcode scanner app, which isn't ideal. What you probably want is to bundle Zxing into your app directly.

I highly recommend using this library: https://github.com/dm77/barcodescanner

It takes all the crazy build issues you're going to run into trying to integrate Xzing or Zbar directly. It uses those libraries under the covers, but wraps them in a very simple to use API.

How to solve Permission denied (publickey) error when using Git?

I was getting the same error. My problem was mixing in sudo.

I couldn't create the directory I was cloning into automatically without prefixing the git clone command with sudo. When I did that, however, my ssh keys where not being properly referenced.

To fix it, I set permissions via chmod on the parent directory I wanted to contain my clone so I could write to it. Then I ran git clone WITHOUT a sudo prefix. It then worked! I changed the permissions back after that. Done.

Length of the String without using length() method

  • str.toCharArray().length should work.

  • Or how about:

    str.lastIndexOf("")

    Probably even runs in constant time :)

  • Another one

    Matcher m = Pattern.compile("$").matcher(str);
    m.find();
    int length = m.end();

  • One of the dumbest solutions: str.split("").length - 1

  • Is this cheating: new StringBuilder(str).length()? :-)

I'm assuming you want to still see STDERR and STDOUT on the terminal. You could go for Josh Kelley's answer, but I find keeping a tail around in the background which outputs your log file very hackish and cludgy. Notice how you need to keep an exra FD and do cleanup afterward by killing it and technically should be doing that in a trap '...' EXIT.

There is a better way to do this, and you've already discovered it: tee.

Only, instead of just using it for your stdout, have a tee for stdout and one for stderr. How will you accomplish this? Process substitution and file redirection:

command > >(tee -a stdout.log) 2> >(tee -a stderr.log >&2)

Let's split it up and explain:

> >(..)

>(...) (process substitution) creates a FIFO and lets tee listen on it. Then, it uses > (file redirection) to redirect the STDOUT of command to the FIFO that your first tee is listening on.

Same thing for the second:

2> >(tee -a stderr.log >&2)

We use process substitution again to make a tee process that reads from STDIN and dumps it into stderr.log. tee outputs its input back on STDOUT, but since its input is our STDERR, we want to redirect tee's STDOUT to our STDERR again. Then we use file redirection to redirect command's STDERR to the FIFO's input (tee's STDIN).

See http://mywiki.wooledge.org/BashGuide/InputAndOutput

Process substitution is one of those really lovely things you get as a bonus of choosing bash as your shell as opposed to sh (POSIX or Bourne).

In sh, you'd have to do things manually:

out="${TMPDIR:-/tmp}/out.$$" err="${TMPDIR:-/tmp}/err.$$"
mkfifo "$out" "$err"
trap 'rm "$out" "$err"' EXIT
tee -a stdout.log < "$out" &
tee -a stderr.log < "$err" >&2 &
command >"$out" 2>"$err"

Convert row names into first column

How to list the properties of a JavaScript object?

Could do it with jQuery as follows:

var objectKeys = $.map(object, function(value, key) {
  return key;
});

WordPress - Check if user is logged in

Try following code that worked fine for me

global $current_user;
get_currentuserinfo();

Then, use following code to check whether user has logged in or not.

if ($current_user->ID == '') {
    //show nothing to user
}
else {
    //write code to show menu here
}

jQuery class within class selector

is just going to look for a div with class="outer inner", is that correct?

No, '.outer .inner' will look for all elements with the .inner class that also have an element with the .outer class as an ancestor. '.outer.inner' (no space) would give the results you're thinking of.

'.outer > .inner' will look for immediate children of an element with the .outer class for elements with the .inner class.

Both '.outer .inner' and '.outer > .inner' should work for your example, although the selectors are fundamentally different and you should be wary of this.

How to find available directory objects on Oracle 11g system?

The ALL_DIRECTORIES data dictionary view will have information about all the directories that you have access to. That includes the operating system path

SELECT owner, directory_name, directory_path
  FROM all_directories

Switch case with conditions

This should work with this :

var cnt = $("#div1 p").length;

            switch (true) {
                case (cnt >= 10 && cnt <= 20):
                    alert('10');
                    break;
                case (cnt >= 21 && cnt <= 30):
                   alert('21');
                    break;
                case (cnt >= 31 && cnt <= 40):
                    break;
                default:
                    alert('>41');
            }

Different between parseInt() and valueOf() in java?

Because you might be using jdk1.5+ and there it is auto converting to int. So in your code its first returning Integer and then auto converted to int.

your code is same as

int abc = new Integer(123);

Convert StreamReader to byte[]

You can also use CopyTo:

var ms = new MemoryStream();
yourStreamReader.BaseStream.CopyTo(ms); // blocking call till the end of the stream
ms.GetBuffer().CopyTo(yourArray, ms.Length);

or

var ms = new MemoryStream();
var ct = yourStreamReader.BaseStream.CopyToAsync(ms);
await ct;
ms.GetBuffer().CopyTo(yourArray, ms.Length);

Server.MapPath - Physical path given, virtual path expected

var files = Directory.GetFiles(@"E:\ftproot\sales");

Counting repeated characters in a string in Python

this will show a dict of characters with occurrence count

str = 'aabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz'
mydict = {}
for char in str:
    mydict[char]=mydict.get(char,0)+1
 print mydict

JavaFX: How to get stage from controller during initialization?

You can get the instance of the controller from the FXMLLoader after initialization via getController(), but you need to instantiate an FXMLLoader instead of using the static methods then.

I'd pass the stage after calling load() directly to the controller afterwards:

FXMLLoader loader = new FXMLLoader(getClass().getResource("MyGui.fxml"));
Parent root = (Parent)loader.load();
MyController controller = (MyController)loader.getController();
controller.setStageAndSetupListeners(stage); // or what you want to do

JavaScript: How to pass object by value?

As a consideration to jQuery users, there is also a way to do this in a simple way using the framework. Just another way jQuery makes our lives a little easier.

var oShallowCopy = jQuery.extend({}, o);
var oDeepCopy    = jQuery.extend(true, {}, o);

Conditionally displaying JSF components

Yes, use the rendered attribute.

<h:form rendered="#{some boolean condition}">

You usually tie it to the model rather than letting the model grab the component and manipulate it.

E.g.

<h:form rendered="#{bean.booleanValue}" />
<h:form rendered="#{bean.intValue gt 10}" />
<h:form rendered="#{bean.objectValue eq null}" />
<h:form rendered="#{bean.stringValue ne 'someValue'}" />
<h:form rendered="#{not empty bean.collectionValue}" />
<h:form rendered="#{not bean.booleanValue and bean.intValue ne 0}" />
<h:form rendered="#{bean.enumValue eq 'ONE' or bean.enumValue eq 'TWO'}" />

Note the importance of keyword based EL operators such as gt, ge, le and lt instead of >, >=, <= and < as angle brackets < and > are reserved characters in XML. See also this related Q&A: Error parsing XHTML: The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup.

As to your specific use case, let's assume that the link is passing a parameter like below:

<a href="page.xhtml?form=1">link</a>

You can then show the form as below:

<h:form rendered="#{param.form eq '1'}">

(the #{param} is an implicit EL object referring to a Map representing the request parameters)

How to colorize diff on the command line?

Actually there seems to be yet another option (which I only noticed recently, when running into the problem described above):

git diff --no-index <file1> <file2>
# output to console instead of opening a pager
git --no-pager diff --no-index <file1> <file2>

If you have Git around (which you already might be using anyway), then you will be able to use it for comparison, even if the files themselves are not under version control. If not enabled for you by default, then enabling color support here seems to be considerably easier than some of the previously mentioned workarounds.

How do you make an array of structs in C?

I think you could write it that way too. I am also a student so I understand your struggle. A bit late response but ok .

#include<stdio.h>
#define n 3

struct {
    double p[3];//position
    double v[3];//velocity
    double a[3];//acceleration
    double radius;
    double mass;
}bodies[n];

Mocking a class: Mock() or patch()?

I've got a YouTube video on this.

Short answer: Use mock when you're passing in the thing that you want mocked, and patch if you're not. Of the two, mock is strongly preferred because it means you're writing code with proper dependency injection.

Silly example:

# Use a mock to test this.
my_custom_tweeter(twitter_api, sentence):
    sentence.replace('cks','x')   # We're cool and hip.
    twitter_api.send(sentence)

# Use a patch to mock out twitter_api. You have to patch the Twitter() module/class
# and have it return a mock. Much uglier, but sometimes necessary.
my_badly_written_tweeter(sentence):
    twitter_api = Twitter(user="XXX", password="YYY")
    sentence.replace('cks','x')
    twitter_api.send(sentence)

How can I put a database under git (version control)?

That's how I do it:

Since your have free choise about DB type use a filebased DB like e.g. firebird.

Create a template DB which has the schema that fits your actual branch and store it in your repository.

When executing your application programmatically create a copy of your template DB, store it somewhere else and just work with that copy.

This way you can put your DB schema under version control without the data. And if you change your schema you just have to change the template DB

Resetting MySQL Root Password with XAMPP on Localhost

For me much better way is to do it using terminal rather then PhpMyAdmin UI.

The answer is copied from "https://gist.github.com/susanBuck/39d1a384779f3d596afb19fcad6b598c" which I have tried and it works always, try it out..

  • Open C:\xampp\mysql\bin\my.ini (MySQL config file)
  • Find the line [mysqld] and right below it add skip-grant-tables. Example:

    [mysqld] skip-grant-tables port= 3306 socket = "C:/xampp/mysql/mysql.sock" basedir = "C:/xampp/mysql" tmpdir = "C:/xampp/tmp" [...etc...]

  • This should allow you to access MySQL if you don't know your password.

  • Stop and start MySQL from XAMPP to make this change take effect.
  • Next, in command line, connect to MySQL:

C:\xampp\mysql\bin\mysql.exe --user=root

  • Once in MySQL command line "select" the mysql database:

USE mysql;

  • Then, the following command will list all your MySQL users:

SELECT * FROM user \G;

  • You can scan through the rows to see what the root user's password is set to. There will be a few root users listed, with different hosts.
  • To set root user's to have a password of your choice, run this command:

UPDATE user SET password = PASSWORD('secret_pass') WHERE user = 'root';

  • -OR- To set all root user's to have a blank password, run this command:

UPDATE user SET password = '' WHERE user = 'root';

When you're done, run exit; to exit the MySQL command line.

Next, re-enable password checking by removing skip-grant-tables from C:\xampp\mysql\bin\my.ini.

Save changes, restart MySQL from XAMPP.

Detecting endianness programmatically in a C++ program

How about this?

#include <cstdio>

int main()
{
    unsigned int n = 1;
    char *p = 0;

    p = (char*)&n;
    if (*p == 1)
        std::printf("Little Endian\n");
    else
        if (*(p + sizeof(int) - 1) == 1)
            std::printf("Big Endian\n");
        else
            std::printf("What the crap?\n");
    return 0;
}
