Programs & Examples On #Code translation

Is there an effective tool to convert C# code to Java code?

Well the syntax is almost the same but they rely on different frameworks so the only way to convert is by getting someone who knows both languages and convert the code :) the answer to your question is no there is no "effective" tool to convert c# to java

How to convert C++ Code to C

There is indeed such a tool, Comeau's C++ compiler. . It will generate C code which you can't manually maintain, but that's no problem. You'll maintain the C++ code, and just convert to C on the fly.

Automated Python to Java translation

to clarify your question:

From Python Source code to Java source code? (I don't think so)

.. or from Python source code to Java Bytecode? (Jython does this under the hood)

Mysql where id is in array

$string="1,2,3,4,5";
$array=array_map('intval', explode(',', $string));
$array = implode("','",$array);
$query=mysqli_query($conn, "SELECT name FROM users WHERE id IN ('".$array."')");

NB: the syntax is:

SELECT * FROM table WHERE column IN('value1','value2','value3')

Number of regex matches

I know this is a little old, but this but here is a concise function for counting regex patterns.

The model backing the <Database> context has changed since the database was created

It's weird, but all answers here were useless for me. For me worked initializer

MigrateDatabaseToLatestVersion

Here's my solution (I know, it can be much simplier, but it's how I use it):

class MyDbMigrateToLatest : MigrateDatabaseToLatestVersion<MyDbContext, Configuration>
{
}

public class MyDbContext: DbContext
{
    public MyDbContext() : base("DbName")
    {
        SetInitializer();
    }

    public MyDbContext(string connString) : base(connString)
    {
        SetInitializer();
    }

    private static void SetInitializer()
    {
        if (ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["RebuildDatabaseOnStart"] == "true")
            Database.SetInitializer(new MyDbInitializerForTesting());
        else
            Database.SetInitializer(new MyDbMigrateToLatest());
    }
}

public sealed class Configuration : DbMigrationsConfiguration<MyDbContext>
{
    public Configuration()
    {
        AutomaticMigrationsEnabled = true;
    }

    protected override void Seed(MyDbContext context)
    {
        // Whatever
    }
}

MyDbInitializerForTesting just inherits from DropCreateDatabaseAlways so in some specific case (testing), whole database is rebuilded. Otherwise it's migrated to latest version.

C char array initialization

I'm not sure but I commonly initialize an array to "" in that case I don't need worry about the null end of the string.

main() {
    void something(char[]);
    char s[100] = "";

    something(s);
    printf("%s", s);
}

void something(char s[]) {
    // ... do something, pass the output to s
    // no need to add s[i] = '\0'; because all unused slot is already set to '\0'
}

Change background color for selected ListBox item

<UserControl.Resources>
    <Style x:Key="myLBStyle" TargetType="{x:Type ListBoxItem}">
        <Style.Resources>
            <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}"
                             Color="Transparent"/>
        </Style.Resources>
    </Style>
</UserControl.Resources>

and

<ListBox ItemsSource="{Binding Path=FirstNames}"
         ItemContainerStyle="{StaticResource myLBStyle}">

You just override the style of the listboxitem (see the: TargetType is ListBoxItem)

WCF named pipe minimal example

Check out my highly simplified Echo example: It is designed to use basic HTTP communication, but it can easily be modified to use named pipes by editing the app.config files for the client and server. Make the following changes:

Edit the server's app.config file, removing or commenting out the http baseAddress entry and adding a new baseAddress entry for the named pipe (called net.pipe). Also, if you don't intend on using HTTP for a communication protocol, make sure the serviceMetadata and serviceDebug is either commented out or deleted:

<configuration>
    <system.serviceModel>
        <services>
            <service name="com.aschneider.examples.wcf.services.EchoService">
                <host>
                    <baseAddresses>
                        <add baseAddress="net.pipe://localhost/EchoService"/>
                    </baseAddresses>
                </host>
            </service>
        </services>
        <behaviors>
            <serviceBehaviors></serviceBehaviors>
        </behaviors>
    </system.serviceModel>
</configuration>

Edit the client's app.config file so that the basicHttpBinding is either commented out or deleted and a netNamedPipeBinding entry is added. You will also need to change the endpoint entry to use the pipe:

<configuration>
    <system.serviceModel>
        <bindings>
            <netNamedPipeBinding>
                <binding name="NetNamedPipeBinding_IEchoService"/>
            </netNamedPipeBinding>
        </bindings>
        <client>
            <endpoint address              = "net.pipe://localhost/EchoService"
                      binding              = "netNamedPipeBinding"
                      bindingConfiguration = "NetNamedPipeBinding_IEchoService"
                      contract             = "EchoServiceReference.IEchoService"
                      name                 = "NetNamedPipeBinding_IEchoService"/>
        </client>
    </system.serviceModel>
</configuration>

The above example will only run with named pipes, but nothing is stopping you from using multiple protocols to run your service. AFAIK, you should be able to have a server run a service using both named pipes and HTTP (as well as other protocols).

Also, the binding in the client's app.config file is highly simplified. There are many different parameters you can adjust, aside from just specifying the baseAddress...

How/when to use ng-click to call a route?

Routes monitor the $location service and respond to changes in URL (typically through the hash). To "activate" a route, you simply change the URL. The easiest way to do that is with anchor tags.

<a href="#/home">Go Home</a>
<a href="#/about">Go to About</a>

Nothing more complicated is needed. If, however, you must do this from code, the proper way is by using the $location service:

$scope.go = function ( path ) {
  $location.path( path );
};

Which, for example, a button could trigger:

<button ng-click="go('/home')"></button>

Does static constexpr variable inside a function make sense?

The short answer is that not only is static useful, it is pretty well always going to be desired.

First, note that static and constexpr are completely independent of each other. static defines the object's lifetime during execution; constexpr specifies that the object should be available during compilation. Compilation and execution are disjoint and discontiguous, both in time and space. So once the program is compiled, constexpr is no longer relevant.

Every variable declared constexpr is implicitly const but const and static are almost orthogonal (except for the interaction with static const integers.)

The C++ object model (§1.9) requires that all objects other than bit-fields occupy at least one byte of memory and have addresses; furthermore all such objects observable in a program at a given moment must have distinct addresses (paragraph 6). This does not quite require the compiler to create a new array on the stack for every invocation of a function with a local non-static const array, because the compiler could take refuge in the as-if principle provided it can prove that no other such object can be observed.

That's not going to be easy to prove, unfortunately, unless the function is trivial (for example, it does not call any other function whose body is not visible within the translation unit) because arrays, more or less by definition, are addresses. So in most cases, the non-static const(expr) array will have to be recreated on the stack at every invocation, which defeats the point of being able to compute it at compile time.

On the other hand, a local static const object is shared by all observers, and furthermore may be initialized even if the function it is defined in is never called. So none of the above applies, and a compiler is free not only to generate only a single instance of it; it is free to generate a single instance of it in read-only storage.

So you should definitely use static constexpr in your example.

However, there is one case where you wouldn't want to use static constexpr. Unless a constexpr declared object is either ODR-used or declared static, the compiler is free to not include it at all. That's pretty useful, because it allows the use of compile-time temporary constexpr arrays without polluting the compiled program with unnecessary bytes. In that case, you would clearly not want to use static, since static is likely to force the object to exist at runtime.

Mvn install or Mvn package

If you're not using a remote repository (like artifactory), use plain old: mvn clean install

Pretty old topic but AFAIK, if you run your own repository (eg: with artifactory) to share jar among your team(s), you might want to use

mvn clean deploy

instead.

This way, your continuous integration server can be sure that all dependencies are correctly pushed into your remote repository. If you missed one, mvn will not be able to find it into your CI local m2 repository.

Calling Oracle stored procedure from C#?

Connecting to Oracle is ugly. Here is some cleaner code with a using statement. A lot of the other samples don't call the IDisposable Methods on the objects they create.

using (OracleConnection connection = new OracleConnection("ConnectionString"))
    using (OracleCommand command = new OracleCommand("ProcName", connection))
    {
          command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
          command.Parameters.Add("ParameterName", OracleDbType.Varchar2).Value = "Your Data Here";
          command.Parameters.Add("SomeOutVar", OracleDbType.Varchar2, 120);
          command.Parameters["return_out"].Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
          command.Parameters.Add("SomeOutVar1", OracleDbType.Varchar2, 120);
          command.Parameters["return_out2"].Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;
          connection.Open();
          command.ExecuteNonQuery();
          string SomeOutVar = command.Parameters["SomeOutVar"].Value.ToString();
          string SomeOutVar1 = command.Parameters["SomeOutVar1"].Value.ToString();
    }

Twitter bootstrap float div right

This does the trick, without the need to add an inline style

<div class="row-fluid">
    <div class="span6">
        <p>text left</p>
    </div>
    <div class="span6">
        <div class="pull-right">
            <p>text right</p>
        </div>
    </div>
</div>

The answer is in nesting another <div> with the "pull-right" class. Combining the two classes won't work.

center aligning a fixed position div

<div class="container-div">
  <div class="center-div">

  </div>
</div>

.container-div {position:fixed; left: 0; bottom: 0; width: 100%; margin: 0;}
.center-div {width: 200px; margin: 0 auto;}

This should do the same.

How to generate Javadoc from command line

D:\>javadoc *.java

If you want to create dock file of lang package then path should be same where your lang package is currently. For example, I created a folder name javaapi and unzipped the src zip file, then used the command below.

C:\Users\Techsupport1\Desktop\javaapi\java\lang> javadoc *.java

I'm getting Key error in python

I received this error when I was parsing dict with nested for:

cats = {'Tom': {'color': 'white', 'weight': 8}, 'Klakier': {'color': 'black', 'weight': 10}}
cat_attr = {}
for cat in cats:
    for attr in cat:
        print(cats[cat][attr])

Traceback:

Traceback (most recent call last):
      File "<input>", line 3, in <module>
    KeyError: 'K'

Because in second loop should be cats[cat] instead just cat (what is just a key)

So:

cats = {'Tom': {'color': 'white', 'weight': 8}, 'Klakier': {'color': 'black', 'weight': 10}}
cat_attr = {}
for cat in cats:
    for attr in cats[cat]:
        print(cats[cat][attr])

Gives

black
10
white
8

Byte Array to Image object

According to the Java docs, it looks like you need to use the MemoryImageSource Class to put your byte array into an object in memory, and then use Component.createImage(ImageProducer) next (passing in your MemoryImageSource, which implements ImageProducer).

How can I know if a process is running?

This is the simplest way I found after using reflector. I created an extension method for that:

public static class ProcessExtensions
{
    public static bool IsRunning(this Process process)
    {
        if (process == null)
            throw new ArgumentNullException("process");

        try
        {
            Process.GetProcessById(process.Id);
        }
        catch (ArgumentException)
        {
            return false;
        }
        return true;
    }
}

The Process.GetProcessById(processId) method calls the ProcessManager.IsProcessRunning(processId) method and throws ArgumentException in case the process does not exist. For some reason the ProcessManager class is internal...

How to initialize a nested struct?

Well, any specific reason to not make Proxy its own struct?

Anyway you have 2 options:

The proper way, simply move proxy to its own struct, for example:

type Configuration struct {
    Val string
    Proxy Proxy
}

type Proxy struct {
    Address string
    Port    string
}

func main() {

    c := &Configuration{
        Val: "test",
        Proxy: Proxy{
            Address: "addr",
            Port:    "port",
        },
    }
    fmt.Println(c)
    fmt.Println(c.Proxy.Address)
}

The less proper and ugly way but still works:

c := &Configuration{
    Val: "test",
    Proxy: struct {
        Address string
        Port    string
    }{
        Address: "addr",
        Port:    "80",
    },
}

Provide schema while reading csv file as a dataframe

schema definition as simple string

Just in case if some one is interested in schema definition as simple string with date and time stamp

data file creation from Terminal or shell

echo "
2019-07-02 22:11:11.000999, 01/01/2019, Suresh, abc
2019-01-02 22:11:11.000001, 01/01/2020, Aadi, xyz
" > data.csv

Defining the schema as String

    user_schema = 'timesta TIMESTAMP,date DATE,first_name STRING , last_name STRING'

reading the data

    df = spark.read.csv(path='data.csv', schema = user_schema, sep=',', dateFormat='MM/dd/yyyy',timestampFormat='yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss.SSSSSS')

    df.show(10, False)

    +-----------------------+----------+----------+---------+
    |timesta                |date      |first_name|last_name|
    +-----------------------+----------+----------+---------+
    |2019-07-02 22:11:11.999|2019-01-01| Suresh   | abc     |
    |2019-01-02 22:11:11.001|2020-01-01| Aadi     | xyz     |
    +-----------------------+----------+----------+---------+

Please note defining the schema explicitly instead of letting spark infer the schema also improves the spark read performance.

In Git, how do I figure out what my current revision is?

What do you mean by "version number"? It is quite common to tag a commit with a version number and then use

$ git describe --tags

to identify the current HEAD w.r.t. any tags. If you mean you want to know the hash of the current HEAD, you probably want:

$ git rev-parse HEAD

or for the short revision hash:

$ git rev-parse --short HEAD

It is often sufficient to do:

$ cat .git/refs/heads/${branch-master}

but this is not reliable as the ref may be packed.

How can I fill a div with an image while keeping it proportional?

An old question but deserves an update as now there is a way.

The correct CSS based answer is to use object-fit: cover, which works like background-size: cover. Positioning would be taken care of by object-position attribute, which defaults to centering.

But there is no support for it in any IE / Edge browsers, or Android < 4.4.4. Also, object-position is not supported by Safari, iOS or OSX. Polyfills do exist, object-fit-images seems to give best support.

For more details on how the property works, see CSS Tricks article on object-fit for explanation and demo.

Android WebView style background-color:transparent ignored on android 2.2

At the bottom of this earlier mentioned issue there is an solution. It's a combination of 2 solutions.

webView.setBackgroundColor(Color.TRANSPARENT);
webView.setLayerType(WebView.LAYER_TYPE_SOFTWARE, null);

When adding this code to the WebViewer after loading the url, it works (API 11+).

It even works when hardeware acceleration is ON

delete all from table

You can also use truncate.

truncate table table_name;

How to refresh or show immediately in datagridview after inserting?

You can set the datagridview DataSource to null and rebind it again.

private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    myAccesscon.ConnectionString = connectionString;

    dataGridView.DataSource = null;
    dataGridView.Update();
    dataGridView.Refresh();
    OleDbCommand cmd = new OleDbCommand(sql, myAccesscon);
    myAccesscon.Open();
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
    OleDbDataAdapter da = new OleDbDataAdapter(cmd);
    DataTable bookings = new DataTable();
    da.Fill(bookings);
    dataGridView.DataSource = bookings;
    myAccesscon.Close();
}

Boolean.parseBoolean("1") = false...?

It accepts only a string value of "true" to represent boolean true. Best what you can do is

boolean uses_votes = "1".equals(o.get("uses_votes"));

Or if the Map actually represents an "entitiy", I think a Javabean is way much better. Or if it represents configuration settings, you may want to take a look into Apache Commons Configuration.

How do I edit an incorrect commit message in git ( that I've pushed )?

At our shop, I introduced the convention of adding recognizably named annotated tags to commits with incorrect messages, and using the annotation as the replacement.

Even though this doesn't help folks who run casual "git log" commands, it does provide us with a way to fix incorrect bug tracker references in the comments, and all my build and release tools understand the convention.

This is obviously not a generic answer, but it might be something folks can adopt within specific communities. I'm sure if this is used on a larger scale, some sort of porcelain support for it may crop up, eventually...

How can I make a link from a <td> table cell

I would recommend using an actual anchor element, and set it as block.

<div class="divBox">
    <a href="#">Link</a>
</div>

.divBox
{
    width: 300px;
    height: 100px;
}
.divBox a
{
    width: 100%;
    height: 100%;
    display: block;
}

This will set the anchor to the same dimensions of the parent div.

Visual Studio: Relative Assembly References Paths

To expand upon Pavel Minaev's original comment - The GUI for Visual Studio supports relative references with the assumption that your .sln is the root of the relative reference. So if you have a solution C:\myProj\myProj.sln, any references you add in subfolders of C:\myProj\ are automatically added as relative references.

To add a relative reference in a separate directory, such as C:/myReferences/myDLL.dll, do the following:

  1. Add the reference in Visual Studio GUI by right-clicking the project in Solution Explorer and selecting Add Reference...
  2. Find the *.csproj where this reference exist and open it in a text editor
  3. Edit the < HintPath > to be equal to

    <HintPath>..\..\myReferences\myDLL.dll</HintPath>

This now references C:\myReferences\myDLL.dll.

Hope this helps.

Change Input to Upper Case

<input id="name" data-upper type="text"/>
<input id="middle" data-upper type="text"/>
<input id="sur" data-upper type="text"/>

Upper the text on dynamically created element which has attribute upper and when keyup action happens

$(document.body).on('keyup', '[data-upper]', function toUpper() {
  this.value = this.value.toUpperCase();
});

Swift - How to detect orientation changes

You can use viewWillTransition(to:with:) and tap into animate(alongsideTransition:completion:) to get the interface orientation AFTER the transition is complete. You just have to define and implement a protocol similar to this in order to tap into the event. Note that this code was used for a SpriteKit game and your specific implementation may differ.

protocol CanReceiveTransitionEvents {
    func viewWillTransition(to size: CGSize)
    func interfaceOrientationChanged(to orientation: UIInterfaceOrientation)
}
override func viewWillTransition(to size: CGSize, with coordinator: UIViewControllerTransitionCoordinator) {
        super.viewWillTransition(to: size, with: coordinator)

        guard
            let skView = self.view as? SKView,
            let canReceiveRotationEvents = skView.scene as? CanReceiveTransitionEvents else { return }

        coordinator.animate(alongsideTransition: nil) { _ in
            if let interfaceOrientation = UIApplication.shared.windows.first?.windowScene?.interfaceOrientation {
                canReceiveRotationEvents.interfaceOrientationChanged(to: interfaceOrientation)
            }
        }

        canReceiveRotationEvents.viewWillTransition(to: size)
    }

You can set breakpoints in these functions and observe that interfaceOrientationChanged(to orientation: UIInterfaceOrientation) is always called after viewWillTransition(to size: CGSize) with the updated orientation.

Serving static web resources in Spring Boot & Spring Security application

If you are using webjars. You need to add this in your configure method: http.authorizeRequests().antMatchers("/webjars/**").permitAll();

Make sure this is the first statement. For example:

@Configuration
@EnableWebSecurity
public class WebSecurityConfig extends WebSecurityConfigurerAdapter {
    @Override
    protected void configure(HttpSecurity http) throws Exception {
        http.authorizeRequests().antMatchers("/webjars/**").permitAll();
        http.authorizeRequests().anyRequest().authenticated();
         http.formLogin()
         .loginPage("/login")
         .failureUrl("/login?error")
         .usernameParameter("email")
         .permitAll()
         .and()
         .logout()
         .logoutUrl("/logout")

    }

You will also need to have this in order to have webjars enabled:

@Configuration
    public class MvcConfig extends WebMvcConfigurerAdapter {
        ...
        @Override
        public void addResourceHandlers(ResourceHandlerRegistry registry) {
                registry.addResourceHandler("/webjars/**").addResourceLocations("classpath:/META-INF/resources/webjars/");
        }
        ...
    }

How to split the filename from a full path in batch?

@echo off
Set filename=C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\Dostips.cmd
For %%A in ("%filename%") do (
    Set Folder=%%~dpA
    Set Name=%%~nxA
)
echo.Folder is: %Folder%
echo.Name is: %Name%

But I can't take credit for this; Google found this at http://www.dostips.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=409

Recursion in Python? RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded while calling a Python object

The error is a stack overflow. That should ring a bell on this site, right? It occurs because a call to poruszanie results in another call to poruszanie, incrementing the recursion depth by 1. The second call results in another call to the same function. That happens over and over again, each time incrementing the recursion depth.

Now, the usable resources of a program are limited. Each function call takes a certain amount of space on top of what is called the stack. If the maximum stack height is reached, you get a stack overflow error.

Change bootstrap navbar background color and font color

No need for the specificity .navbar-default in your CSS. Background color requires background-color:#cc333333 (or just background:#cc3333). Finally, probably best to consolidate all your customizations into a single class, as below:

.navbar-custom {
    color: #FFFFFF;
    background-color: #CC3333;
}

..

<div id="menu" class="navbar navbar-default navbar-custom">

Certificate is trusted by PC but not by Android

Make sure you also use your intermediate crt (.crt file with a bundle.. some providers also call it bundle or ca certificate). then in your ssl.conf,

SSLCertificateFile </path/for/actual/certificate>

SSLCACertificateFile </path/for/actual/intermediate_certificate>

then restart your webserver :ex for apache use :

sudo service httpd restart

CSS override rules and specificity

To give the second rule higher specificity you can always use parts of the first rule. In this case I would add table.rule1 trfrom rule one and add it to rule two.

table.rule1 tr td {
    background-color: #ff0000;
}

table.rule1 tr td.rule2 {
    background-color: #ffff00;
}

After a while I find this gets natural, but I know some people disagree. For those people I would suggest looking into LESS or SASS.

Cropping images in the browser BEFORE the upload

If you will still use JCrop, you will need only this php functions to crop the file:

$img_src = imagecreatefromjpeg($src);
$img_dest = imagecreatetruecolor($new_w,$new_h);
imagecopyresampled($img_dest,$img_src,0,0,$x,$y,$new_w,$new_h,$w,$h);
imagejpeg($img_dest,$dest);

client side:

jQuery(function($){

    $('#target').Jcrop({
    onChange:   showCoords,
    onSelect:   showCoords,
    onRelease:  clearCoords
    });

});

var x,y,w,h; //these variables are necessary to crop
function showCoords(c)
{
    x = c.x;
    y = c.y;
    w = c.w;
    h = c.h;
};
function clearCoords()
{
    x=y=w=h=0;
}

Placing/Overlapping(z-index) a view above another view in android

If you are adding the View programmatically, you can use yourLayout.addView(view, 1);

where 1 is the index.

Convert any object to a byte[]

public static class SerializerDeserializerExtensions
{
    public static byte[] Serializer(this object _object)
    {
        byte[] bytes;
        using (var _MemoryStream = new MemoryStream())
        {
            IFormatter _BinaryFormatter = new BinaryFormatter();
            _BinaryFormatter.Serialize(_MemoryStream, _object);
            bytes = _MemoryStream.ToArray();
        }
        return bytes;
    }

    public static T Deserializer<T>(this byte[] _byteArray)
    {
        T ReturnValue;
        using (var _MemoryStream = new MemoryStream(_byteArray))
        {
            IFormatter _BinaryFormatter = new BinaryFormatter();
            ReturnValue = (T)_BinaryFormatter.Deserialize(_MemoryStream);
        }
        return ReturnValue;
    }
}

You can use it like below code.

DataTable _DataTable = new DataTable();
_DataTable.Columns.Add(new DataColumn("Col1"));
_DataTable.Columns.Add(new DataColumn("Col2"));
_DataTable.Columns.Add(new DataColumn("Col3"));

for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
    DataRow _DataRow = _DataTable.NewRow();
    _DataRow["Col1"] = (i + 1) + "Column 1";
    _DataRow["Col2"] = (i + 1) + "Column 2";
    _DataRow["Col3"] = (i + 1) + "Column 3";
    _DataTable.Rows.Add(_DataRow);
}

byte[] ByteArrayTest =  _DataTable.Serializer();
DataTable dt = ByteArrayTest.Deserializer<DataTable>();

Calling C/C++ from Python?

Cython is definitely the way to go, unless you anticipate writing Java wrappers, in which case SWIG may be preferable.

I recommend using the runcython command line utility, it makes the process of using Cython extremely easy. If you need to pass structured data to C++, take a look at Google's protobuf library, it's very convenient.

Here is a minimal examples I made that uses both tools:

https://github.com/nicodjimenez/python2cpp

Hope it can be a useful starting point.

HTML table headers always visible at top of window when viewing a large table

It's frustrating that what works great in one browser doesn't work in others. The following works in Firefox, but not in Chrome or IE:

<table width="80%">

 <thead>

 <tr>
  <th>Column 1</th>
  <th>Column 2</th>
  <th>Column 3</th>
 </tr>

 </thead>

 <tbody style="height:50px; overflow:auto">

  <tr>
    <td>Cell A1</td>
    <td>Cell B1</td>
    <td>Cell C1</td>
  </tr>

  <tr>
    <td>Cell A2</td>
    <td>Cell B2</td>
    <td>Cell C2</td>
  </tr>

  <tr>
    <td>Cell A3</td>
    <td>Cell B3</td>
    <td>Cell C3</td>
  </tr>

 </tbody>

</table>

Verify a method call using Moq

You're checking the wrong method. Moq requires that you Setup (and then optionally Verify) the method in the dependency class.

You should be doing something more like this:

class MyClassTest
{
    [TestMethod]
    public void MyMethodTest()
    {
        string action = "test";
        Mock<SomeClass> mockSomeClass = new Mock<SomeClass>();

        mockSomeClass.Setup(mock => mock.DoSomething());

        MyClass myClass = new MyClass(mockSomeClass.Object);
        myClass.MyMethod(action);

        // Explicitly verify each expectation...
        mockSomeClass.Verify(mock => mock.DoSomething(), Times.Once());

        // ...or verify everything.
        // mockSomeClass.VerifyAll();
    }
}

In other words, you are verifying that calling MyClass#MyMethod, your class will definitely call SomeClass#DoSomething once in that process. Note that you don't need the Times argument; I was just demonstrating its value.

How can I retrieve a table from stored procedure to a datatable?

string connString = "<your connection string>";
string sql = "name of your sp";

using(SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(connString))
{
    try
    {
        using(SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter())
        {
            da.SelectCommand = new SqlCommand(sql, conn);
            da.SelectCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;

            DataSet ds = new DataSet();
            da.Fill(ds, "result_name");

            DataTable dt = ds.Tables["result_name"];

            foreach (DataRow row in dt.Rows) {
                //manipulate your data
            }
        }
    }
    catch(SQLException ex)

How to Import Excel file into mysql Database from PHP

For >= 2nd row values insert into table-

$file = fopen($filename, "r");
//$sql_data = "SELECT * FROM prod_list_1 ";

$count = 0;                                         // add this line
while (($emapData = fgetcsv($file, 10000, ",")) !== FALSE)
{
    //print_r($emapData);
    //exit();
    $count++;                                      // add this line

    if($count>1){                                  // add this line
      $sql = "INSERT into prod_list_1(p_bench,p_name,p_price,p_reason) values ('$emapData[0]','$emapData[1]','$emapData[2]','$emapData[3]')";
      mysql_query($sql);

How to do "If Clicked Else .."

The way to do it would be with a boolean at a higher scope:

var hasBeenClicked = false;
jQuery('#id').click(function () {
    hasBeenClicked = true;
});

if (hasBeenClicked) {
    // The link has been clicked.
} else {
    // The link has not been clicked.
}

How to fit a smooth curve to my data in R?

LOESS is a very good approach, as Dirk said.

Another option is using Bezier splines, which may in some cases work better than LOESS if you don't have many data points.

Here you'll find an example: http://rosettacode.org/wiki/Cubic_bezier_curves#R

# x, y: the x and y coordinates of the hull points
# n: the number of points in the curve.
bezierCurve <- function(x, y, n=10)
    {
    outx <- NULL
    outy <- NULL

    i <- 1
    for (t in seq(0, 1, length.out=n))
        {
        b <- bez(x, y, t)
        outx[i] <- b$x
        outy[i] <- b$y

        i <- i+1
        }

    return (list(x=outx, y=outy))
    }

bez <- function(x, y, t)
    {
    outx <- 0
    outy <- 0
    n <- length(x)-1
    for (i in 0:n)
        {
        outx <- outx + choose(n, i)*((1-t)^(n-i))*t^i*x[i+1]
        outy <- outy + choose(n, i)*((1-t)^(n-i))*t^i*y[i+1]
        }

    return (list(x=outx, y=outy))
    }

# Example usage
x <- c(4,6,4,5,6,7)
y <- 1:6
plot(x, y, "o", pch=20)
points(bezierCurve(x,y,20), type="l", col="red")

Download a file with Android, and showing the progress in a ProgressDialog

I have modified AsyncTask class to handle creation of progressDialog at the same context .I think following code will be more reusable. (it can be called from any activity just pass context,target File,dialog message)

public static class DownloadTask extends AsyncTask<String, Integer, String> {
    private ProgressDialog mPDialog;
    private Context mContext;
    private PowerManager.WakeLock mWakeLock;
    private File mTargetFile;
    //Constructor parameters :
    // @context (current Activity)
    // @targetFile (File object to write,it will be overwritten if exist)
    // @dialogMessage (message of the ProgresDialog)
    public DownloadTask(Context context,File targetFile,String dialogMessage) {
        this.mContext = context;
        this.mTargetFile = targetFile;
        mPDialog = new ProgressDialog(context);

        mPDialog.setMessage(dialogMessage);
        mPDialog.setIndeterminate(true);
        mPDialog.setProgressStyle(ProgressDialog.STYLE_HORIZONTAL);
        mPDialog.setCancelable(true);

How to configure Docker port mapping to use Nginx as an upstream proxy?

AJB's "Option B" can be made to work by using the base Ubuntu image and setting up nginx on your own. (It didn't work when I used the Nginx image from Docker Hub.)

Here is the Docker file I used:

FROM ubuntu
RUN apt-get update && apt-get install -y nginx
RUN ln -sf /dev/stdout /var/log/nginx/access.log
RUN ln -sf /dev/stderr /var/log/nginx/error.log
RUN rm -rf /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default
EXPOSE 80 443
COPY conf/mysite.com /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/mysite.com
CMD ["nginx", "-g", "daemon off;"]

My nginx config (aka: conf/mysite.com):

server {
    listen 80 default;
    server_name mysite.com;

    location / {
        proxy_pass http://website;
    }
}

upstream website {
    server website:3000;
}

And finally, how I start my containers:

$ docker run -dP --name website website
$ docker run -dP --name nginx --link website:website nginx

This got me up and running so my nginx pointed the upstream to the second docker container which exposed port 3000.

How to create a GUID / UUID

Necromancing.

Effectively, a Guid, or UUID as it is called in non-microsoft-circles, is just a 128-Bit cryptographic random number, with the uuid version number (1-5) being at a fixed location byte.

So when you just generate a bunch of random numbers betwween 0 and 65535 and hex-encode them, like this:

function guid()
{
    function s4()
    {
        return Math.floor(Math.random() * 65536).toString(16).padStart(4, '0')
    } // End Function s4

    return s4() + s4() + '-' + s4() + '-' + "4" + s4().substr(1) + '-' + s4() + '-' + s4() + s4() + s4();
} // End Function guid

you get a valid GUID, but due to the random-implementation, it's not cryptographically secure.

To generate a cryptographically secure GUID, you need to use window.crypto (or window.msCrypto for Internet Exploder).

That goes like this:

function cryptGuid()
{
    var array = new Uint16Array(8);
    (window.crypto || window.msCrypto).getRandomValues(array);
    var dataView = new DataView(array.buffer);

    var parts = [];

    for(var i = 0; i < array.length; ++i)
    {
        // 0&1,2,3,4,5-7 dataView.getUint16(0-7)
        if(i>1 && i<6) parts.push("-");
        parts.push(dataView.getUint16(i).toString(16).padStart(4, '0'));
    }

    parts[5] = "4" + parts[5].substr(1);
    // console.log(parts);
    return parts.join('').toUpperCase();// .toLowerCase();
}

cryptGuid();

Plus you have to decide, if you return the number as lower-or upper-case character string. Certain software require lowercase characters (e.g. Reporting Service), while others generate uppercase characters (SQL-Server).

Use URI builder in Android or create URL with variables

You can do that with lambda expressions;

    private static final String BASE_URL = "http://api.example.org/data/2.5/forecast/daily";

    private String getBaseUrl(Map<String, String> params) {
        final Uri.Builder builder = Uri.parse(BASE_URL).buildUpon();
        params.entrySet().forEach(entry -> builder.appendQueryParameter(entry.getKey(), entry.getValue()));
        return builder.build().toString();
    }

and you can create params like that;

    Map<String, String> params = new HashMap<String, String>();
    params.put("zip", "94043,us");
    params.put("units", "metric");

Btw. If you will face any issue like “lambda expressions not supported at this language level”, please check this URL;

Save current directory in variable using Bash?

for a relative answer, use .

test with:

$ myDir=.
$ ls $myDir
$ cd /
$ ls $myDir

The first ls will show you everything in the current directory, the second will show you everything in the root directory (/).

SCCM 2012 application install "Failed" in client Software Center

I'm assuming you figured this out already but:

Technical Reference for Log Files in Configuration Manager

That's a list of client-side logs and what they do. They are located in Windows\CCM\Logs

AppEnforce.log will show you the actual command-line executed and the resulting exit code for each Deployment Type (only for the new style ConfigMgr Applications)

This is my go-to for troubleshooting apps. Haven't really found any other logs that are exceedingly useful.

How do you serialize a model instance in Django?

To serialize and deserialze, use the following:

from django.core import serializers

serial = serializers.serialize("json", [obj])
...
# .next() pulls the first object out of the generator
# .object retrieves django object the object from the DeserializedObject
obj = next(serializers.deserialize("json", serial)).object

How to import a module given the full path?

Do you mean load or import?

You can manipulate the sys.path list specify the path to your module, then import your module. For example, given a module at:

/foo/bar.py

You could do:

import sys
sys.path[0:0] = ['/foo'] # puts the /foo directory at the start of your path
import bar

What's the difference between "2*2" and "2**2" in Python?

Power has more precedence than multiply, so:

2**2*3 = (2^2)*3
2*2*3 = 2*2*3

Pass user defined environment variable to tomcat

For Unix & Mac systems, Go to /bin/setenv.sh inside tomcat folder

Add the below line

export JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -DAPP_MASTER_PASSWORD=mypass"

Now System.getProperty("APP_MASTER_PASSWORD") will return "mypass"

Regular Expression for matching parentheses

The solution consists in a regex pattern matching open and closing parenthesis

String str = "Your(String)";
// parameter inside split method is the pattern that matches opened and closed parenthesis,
// that means all characters inside "[ ]" escaping parenthesis with "\\" -> "[\\(\\)]"
String[] parts = str.split("[\\(\\)]");
for (String part : parts) {
   // I print first "Your", in the second round trip "String"
   System.out.println(part);
}

Writing in Java 8's style, this can be solved in this way:

Arrays.asList("Your(String)".split("[\\(\\)]"))
    .forEach(System.out::println);

I hope it is clear.

Why is width: 100% not working on div {display: table-cell}?

Just add min-height:100% and min-width:100% and it will work. I had the same problem. You don't need a 3th wrapper

Using media breakpoints in Bootstrap 4-alpha

I answered a similar question here

As @Syden said, the mixins will work. Another option is using SASS map-get like this..

@media (min-width: map-get($grid-breakpoints, sm)){
  .something {
    padding: 10px;
   }
}

@media (min-width: map-get($grid-breakpoints, md)){
  .something {
    padding: 20px;
   }
}

Looking at the Latin-1 unicode table, I see the character code 00E9 "LATIN SMALL LETTER E WITH ACUTE". This is the accented character in your sample data. A simple test in Python shows that UTF-8 encoding for this character is different from the unicode (almost UTF-16) encoding.

>>> u'\u00e9'
u'\xe9'
>>> u'\u00e9'.encode('utf-8')
'\xc3\xa9'
>>>

I suggest you try to encode("UTF-8") the unicode data before calling the special unicode_csv_reader(). Simply reading the data from a file might hide the encoding, so check the actual character values.

DateDiff to output hours and minutes

Very simply:

CONVERT(TIME,Date2 - Date1)

For example:

Declare @Date2 DATETIME = '2016-01-01 10:01:10.022'
Declare @Date1 DATETIME = '2016-01-01 10:00:00.000'
Select CONVERT(TIME,@Date2 - @Date1) as ElapsedTime

Yelds:

ElapsedTime
----------------
00:01:10.0233333

(1 row(s) affected)

What is a Python equivalent of PHP's var_dump()?

So I have taken the answers from this question and another question and came up below. I suspect this is not pythonic enough for most people, but I really wanted something that let me get a deep representation of the values some unknown variable has. I would appreciate any suggestions about how I can improve this or achieve the same behavior easier.

def dump(obj):
  '''return a printable representation of an object for debugging'''
  newobj=obj
  if '__dict__' in dir(obj):
    newobj=obj.__dict__
    if ' object at ' in str(obj) and not newobj.has_key('__type__'):
      newobj['__type__']=str(obj)
    for attr in newobj:
      newobj[attr]=dump(newobj[attr])
  return newobj

Here is the usage

class stdClass(object): pass
obj=stdClass()
obj.int=1
obj.tup=(1,2,3,4)
obj.dict={'a':1,'b':2, 'c':3, 'more':{'z':26,'y':25}}
obj.list=[1,2,3,'a','b','c',[1,2,3,4]]
obj.subObj=stdClass()
obj.subObj.value='foobar'

from pprint import pprint
pprint(dump(obj))

and the results.

{'__type__': '<__main__.stdClass object at 0x2b126000b890>',
 'dict': {'a': 1, 'c': 3, 'b': 2, 'more': {'y': 25, 'z': 26}},
 'int': 1,
 'list': [1, 2, 3, 'a', 'b', 'c', [1, 2, 3, 4]],
 'subObj': {'__type__': '<__main__.stdClass object at 0x2b126000b8d0>',
            'value': 'foobar'},
 'tup': (1, 2, 3, 4)}

What does 'stale file handle' in Linux mean?

When the directory is deleted, the inode for that directory (and the inodes for its contents) are recycled. The pointer your shell has to that directory's inode (and its contents's inodes) are now no longer valid. When the directory is restored from backup, the old inodes are not (necessarily) reused; the directory and its contents are stored on random inodes. The only thing that stays the same is that the parent directory reuses the same name for the restored directory (because you told it to).

Now if you attempt to access the contents of the directory that your original shell is still pointing to, it communicates that request to the file system as a request for the original inode, which has since been recycled (and may even be in use for something entirely different now). So you get a stale file handle message because you asked for some nonexistent data.

When you perform a cd operation, the shell reevaluates the inode location of whatever destination you give it. Now that your shell knows the new inode for the directory (and the new inodes for its contents), future requests for its contents will be valid.

Why do people say that Ruby is slow?

People say that Ruby is slow because they compare Ruby programs to programs written in other languages. Maybe the programs you write don't need to be faster. Maybe for the programs you write Ruby isn't the bottleneck that's slowing things down.

Returning an empty array

In Zend Studio, array[MyClass] or array[int] or even array[array[MyClass]] work great.

GROUP BY having MAX date

Putting the subquery in the WHERE clause and restricting it to n.control_number means it runs the subquery many times. This is called a correlated subquery, and it's often a performance killer.

It's better to run the subquery once, in the FROM clause, to get the max date per control number.

SELECT n.*
FROM tblpm n
INNER JOIN (
  SELECT control_number, MAX(date_updated) AS date_updated
  FROM tblpm GROUP BY control_number
) AS max USING (control_number, date_updated);

What is duck typing?

Simple Explanation (without code)

Discussion of the semantics of the question is fairly nuanced (and very academic), but here's the general idea:

Duck Typing

(“If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it is a duck.”) - YES! but what does that mean??! This is best illustrated by example:

Examples of Duck Typing functionality:

Imagine I have a magic wand. It has special powers. If I wave the wand and say "Drive!" to a car, well then, it drives!

Does it work on other things? Not sure: so I try it on a truck. Wow - it drives too! I then try it on planes, trains and 1 Woods (they are a type of golf club which people use to 'drive' a golf ball). They all drive!

But would it work on say, a teacup? Error: KAAAA-BOOOOOOM! that didn't work out so good. ====> Teacups can't drive!! duh!?

This is basically the concept of duck typing. It's a try-before-you-buy system. If it works, all is well. But if it fails, like a grenade still in your hand, it's gonna blow up in your face.

In other words, we are interested in what the object can do, rather than with what the object is.

Example: statically typed languages

If we were concerned with what the object actually was, then our magic trick will work only on pre-set, authorised types - in this case cars, but will fail on other objects which can drive: trucks, mopeds, tuk-tuks etc. It won't work on trucks because our magic wand is expecting it to only work on cars.

In other words, in this scenario, the magic wand looks very closely at what the object is (is it a car?) rather than what the object can do (e.g. whether cars, trucks etc. can drive).

The only way you can get a truck to drive is if you can somehow get the magic wand to expect both trucks and cars (perhaps by "implementing a common interface"). If you don't know what that means then just ignore it for the moment.

Summary: Key take-out

What's important in duck typing is what the object can actually do, rather than what the object is.

Here is a working demo that I have prepared about it. http://jsfiddle.net/Hss5g/2/

using stored procedure in entity framework

Mindless passenger has a project that allows you to call a stored proc from entity frame work like this....

using (testentities te = new testentities())
{
    //-------------------------------------------------------------
    // Simple stored proc
    //-------------------------------------------------------------
    var parms1 = new testone() { inparm = "abcd" };
    var results1 = te.CallStoredProc<testone>(te.testoneproc, parms1);
    var r1 = results1.ToList<TestOneResultSet>();
}

... and I am working on a stored procedure framework (here) which you can call like in one of my test methods shown below...

[TestClass]
public class TenantDataBasedTests : BaseIntegrationTest
{
    [TestMethod]
    public void GetTenantForName_ReturnsOneRecord()
    {
        // ARRANGE
        const int expectedCount = 1;
        const string expectedName = "Me";

        // Build the paraemeters object
        var parameters = new GetTenantForTenantNameParameters
        {
            TenantName = expectedName
        };

        // get an instance of the stored procedure passing the parameters
        var procedure = new GetTenantForTenantNameProcedure(parameters);

        // Initialise the procedure name and schema from procedure attributes
        procedure.InitializeFromAttributes();

        // Add some tenants to context so we have something for the procedure to return!
        AddTenentsToContext(Context);

        // ACT
        // Get the results by calling the stored procedure from the context extention method
        var results = Context.ExecuteStoredProcedure(procedure);

        // ASSERT
        Assert.AreEqual(expectedCount, results.Count);
    }
}

internal class GetTenantForTenantNameParameters
{
    [Name("TenantName")]
    [Size(100)]
    [ParameterDbType(SqlDbType.VarChar)]
    public string TenantName { get; set; }
}

[Schema("app")]
[Name("Tenant_GetForTenantName")]
internal class GetTenantForTenantNameProcedure
    : StoredProcedureBase<TenantResultRow, GetTenantForTenantNameParameters>
{
    public GetTenantForTenantNameProcedure(
        GetTenantForTenantNameParameters parameters)
        : base(parameters)
    {
    }
}

If either of those two approaches are any good?

SQL server stored procedure return a table

I do this frequently using Table Types to ensure more consistency and simplify code. You can't technically return "a table", but you can return a result set and using INSERT INTO .. EXEC ... syntax, you can clearly call a PROC and store the results into a table type. In the following example I'm actually passing a table into a PROC along with another param I need to add logic, then I'm effectively "returning a table" and can then work with that as a table variable.

/****** Check if my table type and/or proc exists and drop them ******/
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.objects WHERE type = 'P' AND name = 'returnTableTypeData')
DROP PROCEDURE returnTableTypeData
GO
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.types WHERE is_table_type = 1 AND name = 'myTableType')
DROP TYPE myTableType
GO

/****** Create the type that I'll pass into the proc and return from it ******/
CREATE TYPE [dbo].[myTableType] AS TABLE(
    [someInt] [int] NULL,
    [somenVarChar] [nvarchar](100) NULL
)
GO

CREATE PROC returnTableTypeData
    @someInputInt INT,
    @myInputTable myTableType READONLY --Must be readonly because
AS
BEGIN

    --Return the subset of data consistent with the type
    SELECT
        *
    FROM
        @myInputTable
    WHERE
        someInt < @someInputInt

END
GO

DECLARE @myInputTableOrig myTableType
DECLARE @myUpdatedTable myTableType

INSERT INTO @myInputTableOrig ( someInt,somenVarChar )
VALUES ( 0, N'Value 0' ), ( 1, N'Value 1' ), ( 2, N'Value 2' )

INSERT INTO @myUpdatedTable EXEC returnTableTypeData @someInputInt=1, @myInputTable=@myInputTableOrig

SELECT * FROM @myUpdatedTable

DROP PROCEDURE returnTableTypeData
GO
DROP TYPE myTableType
GO

Creating a 3D sphere in Opengl using Visual C++

It doesn't seem like anyone so far has addressed the actual problem with your original code, so I thought I would do that even though the question is quite old at this point.

The problem originally had to do with the projection in relation to the radius and position of the sphere. I think you'll find that the problem isn't too complicated. The program actually works correctly, it's just that what is being drawn is very hard to see.

First, an orthogonal projection was created using the call

gluOrtho2D(0.0, 499.0, 0.0, 499.0);

which "is equivalent to calling glOrtho with near = -1 and far = 1." This means that the viewing frustum has a depth of 2. So a sphere with a radius of anything greater than 1 (diameter = 2) will not fit entirely within the viewing frustum.

Then the calls

glLoadIdentity();
glutSolidSphere(5.0, 20.0, 20.0);

are used, which loads the identity matrix of the model-view matrix and then "[r]enders a sphere centered at the modeling coordinates origin of the specified radius." Meaning, the sphere is rendered at the origin, (x, y, z) = (0, 0, 0), and with a radius of 5.

Now, the issue is three-fold:

  1. Since the window is 500x500 pixels and the width and height of the viewing frustum is almost 500 (499.0), the small radius of the sphere (5.0) makes its projected area only slightly over one fiftieth (2*5/499) of the size of the window in each dimension. This means that the apparent size of the sphere would be roughly 1/2,500th (actually pi*5^2/499^2, which is closer to about 1/3170th) of the entire window, so it might be difficult to see. This is assuming the entire circle is drawn within the area of the window. It is not, however, as we will see in point 2.
  2. Since the viewing frustum has it's left plane at x = 0 and bottom plane at y = 0, the sphere will be rendered with its geometric center in the very bottom left corner of the window so that only one quadrant of the projected sphere will be visible! This means that what would be seen is even smaller, about 1/10,000th (actually pi*5^2/(4*499^2), which is closer to 1/12,682nd) of the window size. This would make it even more difficult to see. Especially since the sphere is rendered so close to the edges/corner of the screen where you might not think to look.
  3. Since the depth of the viewing frustum is significantly smaller than the diameter of the sphere (less than half), only a sliver of the sphere will be within the viewing frustum, rendering only that part. So you will get more like a hollow circle on the screen than a solid sphere/circle. As it happens, the thickness of that sliver might represent less than 1 pixel on the screen which means we might even see nothing on the screen, even if part of the sphere is indeed within the viewing frustum.

The solution is simply to change the viewing frustum and radius of the sphere. For instance,

gluOrtho2D(-5.0, 5.0, -5.0, 5.0);
glutSolidSphere(5.0, 20, 20);

renders the following image.

r = 5.0

As you can see, only a small part is visible around the "equator", of the sphere with a radius of 5. (I changed the projection to fill the window with the sphere.) Another example,

gluOrtho2D(-1.1, 1.1, -1.1, 1.1);
glutSolidSphere(1.1, 20, 20);

renders the following image.

r = 1.1

The image above shows more of the sphere inside of the viewing frustum, but still the sphere is 0.2 depth units larger than the viewing frustum. As you can see, the "ice caps" of the sphere are missing, both the north and the south. So, if we want the entire sphere to fit within the viewing frustum which has depth 2, we must make the radius less than or equal to 1.

gluOrtho2D(-1.0, 1.0, -1.0, 1.0);
glutSolidSphere(1.0, 20, 20);

renders the following image.

r = 1.0

I hope this has helped someone. Take care!

How can I create an utility class?

For a completely stateless utility class in Java, I suggest the class be declared public and final, and have a private constructor to prevent instantiation. The final keyword prevents sub-classing and can improve efficiency at runtime.

The class should contain all static methods and should not be declared abstract (as that would imply the class is not concrete and has to be implemented in some way).

The class should be given a name that corresponds to its set of provided utilities (or "Util" if the class is to provide a wide range of uncategorized utilities).

The class should not contain a nested class unless the nested class is to be a utility class as well (though this practice is potentially complex and hurts readability).

Methods in the class should have appropriate names.

Methods only used by the class itself should be private.

The class should not have any non-final/non-static class fields.

The class can also be statically imported by other classes to improve code readability (this depends on the complexity of the project however).

Example:

public final class ExampleUtilities {
    // Example Utility method
    public static int foo(int i, int j) {
        int val;

        //Do stuff

        return val;
    }

    // Example Utility method overloaded
    public static float foo(float i, float j) {
        float val;

        //Do stuff

        return val;
    }

    // Example Utility method calling private method
    public static long bar(int p) {
        return hid(p) * hid(p);
    }

    // Example private method
    private static long hid(int i) {
        return i * 2 + 1;
    }
}

Perhaps most importantly of all, the documentation for each method should be precise and descriptive. Chances are methods from this class will be used very often and its good to have high quality documentation to complement the code.

How can I load Partial view inside the view?

Small tweek to the above

@Ajax.ActionLink(
    "Click Here to Load the Partial View",

Set Memory Limit in htaccess

In your .htaccess you can add:

PHP 5.x

<IfModule mod_php5.c>
    php_value memory_limit 64M
</IfModule>

PHP 7.x

<IfModule mod_php7.c>
    php_value memory_limit 64M
</IfModule>

If page breaks again, then you are using PHP as mod_php in apache, but error is due to something else.

If page does not break, then you are using PHP as CGI module and therefore cannot use php values - in the link I've provided might be solution but I'm not sure you will be able to apply it.

What does "res.render" do, and what does the html file look like?

What does res.render do and what does the html file look like?

res.render() function compiles your template (please don't use ejs), inserts locals there, and creates html output out of those two things.

Answering Edit 2 part.

// here you set that all templates are located in `/views` directory
app.set('views', __dirname + '/views');

// here you set that you're using `ejs` template engine, and the
// default extension is `ejs`
app.set('view engine', 'ejs');

// here you render `orders` template
response.render("orders", {orders: orders_json});

So, the template path is views/ (first part) + orders (second part) + .ejs (third part) === views/orders.ejs

Anyway, express.js documentation is good for what it does. It is API reference, not a "how to use node.js" book.

Python JSON dump / append to .txt with each variable on new line

Your question is a little unclear. If you're generating hostDict in a loop:

with open('data.txt', 'a') as outfile:
    for hostDict in ....:
        json.dump(hostDict, outfile)
        outfile.write('\n')

If you mean you want each variable within hostDict to be on a new line:

with open('data.txt', 'a') as outfile:
    json.dump(hostDict, outfile, indent=2)

When the indent keyword argument is set it automatically adds newlines.

Force LF eol in git repo and working copy

Starting with git 2.10 (released 2016-09-03), it is not necessary to enumerate each text file separately. Git 2.10 fixed the behavior of text=auto together with eol=lf. Source.

.gitattributes file in the root of your git repository:

* text=auto eol=lf

Add and commit it.

Afterwards, you can do following to steps and all files are normalized now:

git rm --cached -r . # Remove every file from git's index.
git reset --hard # Rewrite git's index to pick up all the new line endings.

Create a temporary table in MySQL with an index from a select

I wrestled quite a while with the proper syntax for CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE SELECT. Having figured out a few things, I wanted to share the answers with the rest of the community.

Basic information about the statement is available at the following MySQL links:

CREATE TABLE SELECT and CREATE TABLE.

At times it can be daunting to interpret the spec. Since most people learn best from examples, I will share how I have created a working statement, and how you can modify it to work for you.

  1. Add multiple indexes

    This statement shows how to add multiple indexes (note that index names - in lower case - are optional):

    CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE core.my_tmp_table
    (INDEX my_index_name (tag, time), UNIQUE my_unique_index_name (order_number))
    SELECT * FROM core.my_big_table
    WHERE my_val = 1

  2. Add a new primary key:

    CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE core.my_tmp_table
    (PRIMARY KEY my_pkey (order_number),
    INDEX cmpd_key (user_id, time))
    SELECT * FROM core.my_big_table

  3. Create additional columns

    You can create a new table with more columns than are specified in the SELECT statement. Specify the additional column in the table definition. Columns specified in the table definition and not found in select will be first columns in the new table, followed by the columns inserted by the SELECT statement.

    CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE core.my_tmp_table
    (my_new_id BIGINT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
    PRIMARY KEY my_pkey (my_new_id), INDEX my_unique_index_name (invoice_number))
    SELECT * FROM core.my_big_table

  4. Redefining data types for the columns from SELECT

    You can redefine the data type of a column being SELECTed. In the example below, column tag is a MEDIUMINT in core.my_big_table and I am redefining it to a BIGINT in core.my_tmp_table.

    CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE core.my_tmp_table
    (tag BIGINT,
    my_time DATETIME,
    INDEX my_unique_index_name (tag) )
    SELECT * FROM core.my_big_table

  5. Advanced field definitions during create

    All the usual column definitions are available as when you create a normal table. Example:

    CREATE TEMPORARY TABLE core.my_tmp_table
    (id INT UNSIGNED NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY,
    value BIGINT UNSIGNED NOT NULL DEFAULT 0 UNIQUE,
    location VARCHAR(20) DEFAULT "NEEDS TO BE SET",
    country CHAR(2) DEFAULT "XX" COMMENT "Two-letter country code",
    INDEX my_index_name (location))
    ENGINE=MyISAM
    SELECT * FROM core.my_big_table

Construct a manual legend for a complicated plot

In case you were struggling to change linetypes, the following answer should be helpful. (This is an addition to the solution by Andy W.)

We will try to extend the learned pattern:

cols <- c("LINE1"="#f04546","LINE2"="#3591d1","BAR"="#62c76b")
line_types <- c("LINE1"=1,"LINE2"=3)
ggplot(data=data,aes(x=a)) +
  geom_bar(stat="identity", aes(y=h,fill = "BAR"))+ #green
  geom_line(aes(y=b,group=1, colour="LINE1", linetype="LINE1"),size=0.5) +   #red
  geom_point(aes(y=b, colour="LINE1", fill="LINE1"),size=2) +           #red
  geom_line(aes(y=c,group=1,colour="LINE2", linetype="LINE2"),size=0.5) +   #blue
  geom_point(aes(y=c,colour="LINE2", fill="LINE2"),size=2) +           #blue
  scale_colour_manual(name="Error Bars",values=cols,
                  guide = guide_legend(override.aes=aes(fill=NA))) +
  scale_linetype_manual(values=line_types)+
  scale_fill_manual(name="Bar",values=cols, guide="none") +
  ylab("Symptom severity") + xlab("PHQ-9 symptoms") +
  ylim(0,1.6) +
  theme_bw() +
  theme(axis.title.x = element_text(size = 15, vjust=-.2)) +
  theme(axis.title.y = element_text(size = 15, vjust=0.3))

However, what we get is the following result: manual without name

The problem is that the linetype is not merged in the main legend. Note that we did not give any name to the method scale_linetype_manual. The trick which works here is to give it the same name as what you used for naming scale_colour_manual. More specifically, if we change the corresponding line to the following we get the desired result:

scale_linetype_manual(name="Error Bars",values=line_types)

manual with the same name

Now, it is easy to change the size of the line with the same idea.

Note that the geom_bar has not colour property anymore. (I did not try to fix this issue.) Also, adding geom_errorbar with colour attribute spoils the result. It would be great if somebody can come up with a better solution which resolves these two issues as well.

Call js-function using JQuery timer

Might want to check out jQuery Timer to manage one or multiple timers.

http://code.google.com/p/jquery-timer/

var timer = $.timer(yourfunction, 10000);

function yourfunction() { alert('test'); }

Then you can control it with:

timer.play();
timer.pause();
timer.toggle();
timer.once();
etc...

Android button onClickListener

This task can be accomplished using one of the android's main building block named as Intents and One of the methods public void startActivity (Intent intent) which belongs to your Activity class.

An intent is an abstract description of an operation to be performed. It can be used with startActivity to launch an Activity, broadcastIntent to send it to any interested BroadcastReceiver components, and startService(Intent) or bindService(Intent, ServiceConnection, int) to communicate with a background Service.

An Intent provides a facility for performing late runtime binding between the code in different applications. Its most significant use is in the launching of activities, where it can be thought of as the glue between activities. It is basically a passive data structure holding an abstract description of an action to be performed.

Refer the official docs -- http://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/Intent.html

public void startActivity (Intent intent) -- Used to launch a new activity.

So suppose you have two Activity class --

  1. PresentActivity -- This is your current activity from which you want to go the second activity.

  2. NextActivity -- This is your next Activity on which you want to move.

So the Intent would be like this

Intent(PresentActivity.this, NextActivity.class)

Finally this will be the complete code

public class PresentActivity extends Activity {
  protected void onCreate(Bundle icicle) {
    super.onCreate(icicle);

    setContentView(R.layout.content_layout_id);

    final Button button = (Button) findViewById(R.id.button_id);
    button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
            public void onClick(View v) {
              // Perform action on click
              Intent activityChangeIntent = new Intent(PresentActivity.this, NextActivity.class);

              // currentContext.startActivity(activityChangeIntent);

              PresentActivity.this.startActivity(activityChangeIntent);
            }
          });
  }
}

Case statement in MySQL

IF(action_type='Income',action_amount,0) as Income,
IF(action_type='Expense',action_amount,0) as Expense

Random row selection in Pandas dataframe

sample

As of v0.20.0, you can use pd.DataFrame.sample, which can be used to return a random sample of a fixed number rows, or a percentage of rows:

df = df.sample(n=k)     # k rows
df = df.sample(frac=k)  # int(len(df.index) * k) rows

For reproducibility, you can specify an integer random_state, equivalent to using np.ramdom.seed. So, instead of setting, for example, np.random.seed = 0, you can:

df = df.sample(n=k, random_state=0)

What is the difference between Trap and Interrupt?

Traps and interrupts are closely related. Traps are a type of exception, and exceptions are similar to interrupts.

Intel x86 defines two overlapping categories, vectored events (interrupts vs exceptions), and exception classes (faults vs traps vs aborts).

All of the quotes in this post are from the April 2016 version of the Intel Software Developer Manual. For the (definitive and complex) x86 perspective, I recommend reading the SDM's chapter on Interrupt and Exception handling.

Vectored Events

Vectored Events (interrupts and exceptions) cause the processor to jump into an interrupt handler after saving much of the processor's state (enough such that execution can continue from that point later).

Exceptions and interrupts have an ID, called a vector, that determines which interrupt handler the processor jumps to. Interrupt handlers are described within the Interrupt Descriptor Table.

Interrupts

Interrupts occur at random times during the execution of a program, in response to signals from hardware. System hardware uses interrupts to handle events external to the processor, such as requests to service peripheral devices. Software can also generate interrupts by executing the INT n instruction.

Exceptions

Exceptions occur when the processor detects an error condition while executing an instruction, such as division by zero. The processor detects a variety of error conditions including protection violations, page faults, and internal machine faults.

Exception Classifications

Exceptions are classified as faults, traps, or aborts depending on the way they are reported and whether the instruction that caused the exception can be restarted without loss of program or task continuity.

Summary: traps increment the instruction pointer, faults do not, and aborts 'explode'.

Trap

A trap is an exception that is reported immediately following the execution of the trapping instruction. Traps allow execution of a program or task to be continued without loss of program continuity. The return address for the trap handler points to the instruction to be executed after the trapping instruction.

Fault

A fault is an exception that can generally be corrected and that, once corrected, allows the program to be restarted with no loss of continuity. When a fault is reported, the processor restores the machine state to the state prior to the beginning of execution of the faulting instruction. The return address (saved contents of the CS and EIP registers) for the fault handler points to the faulting instruction, rather than to the instruction following the faulting instruction.

Example: A page fault is often recoverable. A piece of an application's address space may have been swapped out to disk from ram. The application will trigger a page fault when it tries to access memory that was swapped out. The kernel can pull that memory from disk to ram, and hand control back to the application. The application will continue where it left off (at the faulting instruction that was accessing swapped out memory), but this time the memory access should succeed without faulting.

An illegal-instruction fault handler that emulates floating-point or other missing instructions would have to manually increment the return address to get the trap-like behaviour it needs, after seeing if the faulting instruction was one it could handle. x86 #UD is a "fault", not a "trap". (The handler would need a pointer to the faulting instruction to figure out which instruction it was.)

Abort

An abort is an exception that does not always report the precise location of the instruction causing the exception and does not allow a restart of the program or task that caused the exception. Aborts are used to report severe errors, such as hardware errors and inconsistent or illegal values in system tables.

Edge Cases

Software invoked interrupts (triggered by the INT instruction) behave in a trap-like manner. The instruction completes before the processor saves its state and jumps to the interrupt handler.

GUI-based or Web-based JSON editor that works like property explorer

Generally when I want to create a JSON or YAML string, I start out by building the Perl data structure, and then running a simple conversion on it. You could put a UI in front of the Perl data structure generation, e.g. a web form.

Converting a structure to JSON is very straightforward:

use strict;
use warnings;
use JSON::Any;

my $data = { arbitrary structure in here };
my $json_handler = JSON::Any->new(utf8=>1);
my $json_string = $json_handler->objToJson($data);

How to see the changes between two commits without commits in-between?

Let me introduce easy GUI/idiot proof approach that you can take in these situations.

  1. Clone another copy of your repo to new folder, for example myRepo_temp
  2. Checkout the commit/branch that you would like to compare with commit in your original repo (myRepo_original).
  3. Now you can use diff tools, (like Beyond Compare etc.) with these two folders (myRepo_temp and myRepo_original)

This is useful for example if you want partially reverse some changes as you can copy stuff from one to another folder.

How can I pass request headers with jQuery's getJSON() method?

I agree with sunetos that you'll have to use the $.ajax function in order to pass request headers. In order to do that, you'll have to write a function for the beforeSend event handler, which is one of the $.ajax() options. Here's a quick sample on how to do that:

<html>
  <head>
    <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
      $(document).ready(function() {
        $.ajax({
          url: 'service.svc/Request',
          type: 'GET',
          dataType: 'json',
          success: function() { alert('hello!'); },
          error: function() { alert('boo!'); },
          beforeSend: setHeader
        });
      });

      function setHeader(xhr) {
        xhr.setRequestHeader('securityCode', 'Foo');
        xhr.setRequestHeader('passkey', 'Bar');
      }
    </script>
  </head>
  <body>
    <h1>Some Text</h1>
  </body>
</html>

If you run the code above and watch the traffic in a tool like Fiddler, you'll see two requests headers passed in:

  • securityCode with a value of Foo
  • passkey with a value of Bar

The setHeader function could also be inline in the $.ajax options, but I wanted to call it out.

Hope this helps!

When the system shows or hides the keyboard, it posts several keyboard notifications. These notifications contain information about the keyboard, including its size, which you can use for calculations that involve moving views. Registering for these notifications is the only way to get some types of information about the keyboard. The system delivers the following notifications for keyboard-related events:

* UIKeyboardWillShowNotification
* UIKeyboardDidShowNotification
* UIKeyboardWillHideNotification
* UIKeyboardDidHideNotification

For more information about these notifications, see their descriptions in UIWindow Class Reference. For information about how to show and hide the keyboard, see Text and Web.

String method cannot be found in a main class method

It seem like your Resort method doesn't declare a compareTo method. This method typically belongs to the Comparable interface. Make sure your class implements it.

Additionally, the compareTo method is typically implemented as accepting an argument of the same type as the object the method gets invoked on. As such, you shouldn't be passing a String argument, but rather a Resort.

Alternatively, you can compare the names of the resorts. For example

if (resortList[mid].getResortName().compareTo(resortName)>0)

jQuery UI Dialog with ASP.NET button postback

Be aware that there is an additional setting in jQuery UI v1.10. There is an appendTo setting that has been added, to address the ASP.NET workaround you're using to re-add the element to the form.

Try:

$("#dialog").dialog({
     autoOpen: false,
     height: 280,
     width: 440,
     modal: true,
     **appendTo**:"form"
});

Close application and launch home screen on Android

I use this:

1) The parent activity call the secondary activity with the method "startActivityForResult"

2) In the secondary activity when is closing:

int exitCode = 1; // Select the number you want
setResult(exitCode);
finish();

3) And in the parent activity override the method "onActivityResult":

public void onActivityResult(int requestCode, int resultCode, Intent data) {
    super.onActivityResult(requestCode, resultCode, data);
    int exitCode = 1;
    if(resultCode == exitCode) {
        super.setResult(exitCode); // use this if you have more than 2 activities
        finish();
    }
}

This works fine for me.

How to Display Selected Item in Bootstrap Button Dropdown Title

Here is my version of this which I hope can save some of your time :)

enter image description here jQuery PART:

$(".dropdown-menu").on('click', 'li a', function(){
  var selText = $(this).children("h4").html();

 $(this).parent('li').siblings().removeClass('active');
    $('#vl').val($(this).attr('data-value'));
  $(this).parents('.btn-group').find('.selection').html(selText);
  $(this).parents('li').addClass("active");
});

HTML PART:

<div class="container">
  <div class="btn-group">
    <a class="btn btn-default dropdown-toggle btn-blog " data-toggle="dropdown" href="#" id="dropdownMenu1" style="width:200px;"><span class="selection pull-left">Select an option </span>

Convert string to Python class object?

Using importlib worked the best for me.

import importlib

importlib.import_module('accounting.views')

This uses string dot notation for the python module that you want to import.

How to use shell commands in Makefile

With:

FILES = $(shell ls)

indented underneath all like that, it's a build command. So this expands $(shell ls), then tries to run the command FILES ....

If FILES is supposed to be a make variable, these variables need to be assigned outside the recipe portion, e.g.:

FILES = $(shell ls)
all:
        echo $(FILES)

Of course, that means that FILES will be set to "output from ls" before running any of the commands that create the .tgz files. (Though as Kaz notes the variable is re-expanded each time, so eventually it will include the .tgz files; some make variants have FILES := ... to avoid this, for efficiency and/or correctness.1)

If FILES is supposed to be a shell variable, you can set it but you need to do it in shell-ese, with no spaces, and quoted:

all:
        FILES="$(shell ls)"

However, each line is run by a separate shell, so this variable will not survive to the next line, so you must then use it immediately:

        FILES="$(shell ls)"; echo $$FILES

This is all a bit silly since the shell will expand * (and other shell glob expressions) for you in the first place, so you can just:

        echo *

as your shell command.

Finally, as a general rule (not really applicable to this example): as esperanto notes in comments, using the output from ls is not completely reliable (some details depend on file names and sometimes even the version of ls; some versions of ls attempt to sanitize output in some cases). Thus, as l0b0 and idelic note, if you're using GNU make you can use $(wildcard) and $(subst ...) to accomplish everything inside make itself (avoiding any "weird characters in file name" issues). (In sh scripts, including the recipe portion of makefiles, another method is to use find ... -print0 | xargs -0 to avoid tripping over blanks, newlines, control characters, and so on.)

1The GNU Make documentation notes further that POSIX make added ::= assignment in 2012. I have not found a quick reference link to a POSIX document for this, nor do I know off-hand which make variants support ::= assignment, although GNU make does today, with the same meaning as :=, i.e., do the assignment right now with expansion.

Note that VAR := $(shell command args...) can also be spelled VAR != command args... in several make variants, including all modern GNU and BSD variants as far as I know. These other variants do not have $(shell) so using VAR != command args... is superior in both being shorter and working in more variants.

How to rename a pane in tmux?

The easiest option for me was to rename the title of the terminal instead. Please see: https://superuser.com/questions/362227/how-to-change-the-title-of-the-mintty-window

In this answer, they mention to modify the PS1 variable. Note: my situation was particular to cygwin.

TL;DR Put this in your .bashrc file:

function settitle() {
      export PS1="\[\e[32m\]\u@\h \[\e[33m\]\w\[\e[0m\]\n$ "
      echo -ne "\e]0;$1\a"
}

Put this in your .tmux.conf file, or similar formatting:

set -g pane-border-status bottom
set -g pane-border-format "#P #T #{pane_current_command}"

Then you can change the title of the pane by typing this in the console:

settitle titlename

Import one schema into another new schema - Oracle

The issue was with the dmp file itself. I had to re-export the file and the command works fine. Thank you @Justin Cave

What does <> mean in excel?

It means "not equal to" (as in, the values in cells E37-N37 are not equal to "", or in other words, they are not empty.)

Undefined reference to sqrt (or other mathematical functions)

You may find that you have to link with the math libraries on whatever system you're using, something like:

gcc -o myprog myprog.c -L/path/to/libs -lm
                                       ^^^ - this bit here.

Including headers lets a compiler know about function declarations but it does not necessarily automatically link to the code required to perform that function.

Failing that, you'll need to show us your code, your compile command and the platform you're running on (operating system, compiler, etc).

The following code compiles and links fine:

#include <math.h>
int main (void) {
    int max = sqrt (9);
    return 0;
}

Just be aware that some compilation systems depend on the order in which libraries are given on the command line. By that, I mean they may process the libraries in sequence and only use them to satisfy unresolved symbols at that point in the sequence.

So, for example, given the commands:

gcc -o plugh plugh.o -lxyzzy
gcc -o plugh -lxyzzy plugh.o

and plugh.o requires something from the xyzzy library, the second may not work as you expect. At the point where you list the library, there are no unresolved symbols to satisfy.

And when the unresolved symbols from plugh.o do appear, it's too late.

Delimiter must not be alphanumeric or backslash and preg_match

The pattern must have delimiters. Delimiters can be a forward slash (/) or any non alphanumeric characters(#,$,*,...). Examples

$pattern = "/My name is '(.*)' and im fine/";
$pattern = "#My name is '(.*)' and im fine#";
$pattern = "@My name is '(.*)' and im fine@";

jQuery animate margin top

$(this).find('.info').animate({'margin-top': '-50px', opacity: 0.5 }, 1000);

Not MarginTop. It works

I do not want to inherit the child opacity from the parent in CSS

If you have to use an image as the transparent background, you might be able to work around it using a pseudo element:

html

<div class="wrap">
   <p>I have 100% opacity</p>
</div>

css

.wrap, .wrap > * {
  position: relative;
}
.wrap:before {
  content: " ";
  opacity: 0.2;
  background: url("http://placehold.it/100x100/FF0000") repeat;
  position: absolute;
  width: 100%;
  height: 100%;
}

label or @html.Label ASP.net MVC 4

If you want to just display some text in your .cshtml page, I do not recommend @Html.Label and also not to use the html label as well. The element represents a caption in a user interface. and you'll see that in the case of @Html.Label, a for attribute is added, referring to the id of a, possibly non-existent, element. The value of this attribute is the value of the model field, in which non-alphanumerics are replaced by underscores. You should use @Html.Display or @Html.DisplayFor, possibly wrapped in some plain html elements line span or p.

How to perform mouseover function in Selenium WebDriver using Java?

Based on this blog post I was able to trigger hovering using the following code with Selenium 2 Webdriver:

String javaScript = "var evObj = document.createEvent('MouseEvents');" +
                    "evObj.initMouseEvent(\"mouseover\",true, false, window, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, false, false, false, false, 0, null);" +
                    "arguments[0].dispatchEvent(evObj);";

How to get Database Name from Connection String using SqlConnectionStringBuilder

See MSDN documentation for InitialCatalog Property:

Gets or sets the name of the database associated with the connection...

This property corresponds to the "Initial Catalog" and "database" keys within the connection string...

Registry key Error: Java version has value '1.8', but '1.7' is required

The error is explicit ...

Error: Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment'\CurrentVersion' has value '1.8', but '1.7' is required.

Error: could not find java.dll

Error: Could not find Java SE Runtime Environment.

... you are attempting to use the java.exe 1.7 executable while the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment > CurrentVersion registry key has the value 1.8.

The recurring theme to proposed solutions is that the error is a configuration error. The error can be solved in various different manners (e.g. reconfiguration of the users environment or removal of java executables with fingers-crossed and hope that there exists another fallback java.exe in the users %PATH% and that the fallback java.exe is the correct executable).

The correct solution depends on what you're trying to achieve: "are you trying to downgrade from jdk-8 to jdk-7? Are trying to upgrade to jdk-8? ..."

Reproduction steps

  1. install jdk-7u80-windows-x64.exe

notes:

  • the java.exe executable available in the users %PATH% is installed in C:\Windows\System32
  • the installation does not update the users %PATH%
  • the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment > CurrentVersion string registry entry is created (among others) with the value 1.7
  1. install jdk-8u191-windows-x64.exe

notes:

  • the users %PATH% is updated to include C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Oracle\Java\javapath as the first entry
  • the the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment > CurrentVersion string registry entries value is updated to 1.8
  1. update the users %PATH% environment variable, remove C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Oracle\Java\javapath

  2. in a new command prompt java -version

Error: Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment'\CurrentVersion' has value '1.8', but '1.7' is required.

Error: could not find java.dll

Error: Could not find Java SE Runtime Environment.

Solution(s)

  1. OP's solution https://stackoverflow.com/a/29769311/1423507 is a "fingers-crossed and hope that there exists a fallback java.exe in the users %PATH% and that the fallback executable is correct" approach to the error. Given the reproduction steps, removing the java.exe, javaw.exe and javaws.exe executables from C:\Windows\System32 (only in my case) will result in no longer having any java.exe present in the users %PATH% resulting in the error 'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. which is not so much of a solution.

  2. answers https://stackoverflow.com/a/35775493/1423507 and https://stackoverflow.com/a/36516620/1423507 work however you're reverting to using java.exe 1.7 (e.g. update the CurrentVersion registry key's value to match the java.exe version found in the users %PATH%).

  3. make surejava.exe 1.8 is the first found in the users %PATH% (how you do that is irrelevant) i.e.:

    • update the users %PATH% to include C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Oracle\Java\javapath first (ensure that the executables in that directory are correct)
    • update the users %PATH% to include the absolute path of your java binaries first (set PATH="C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_191\bin;%PATH%")
    • set java specific environment variables and update the users %PATH% with them (set JAVA_HOME="C:\Program Files\Java"; set JRE_HOME=%JAVA_HOME%\jre1.8.0_191; set PATH=%JRE_HOME%\bin;%PATH%)

Python list directory, subdirectory, and files

Here is a one-liner:

import os

[val for sublist in [[os.path.join(i[0], j) for j in i[2]] for i in os.walk('./')] for val in sublist]
# Meta comment to ease selecting text

The outer most val for sublist in ... loop flattens the list to be one dimensional. The j loop collects a list of every file basename and joins it to the current path. Finally, the i loop iterates over all directories and sub directories.

This example uses the hard-coded path ./ in the os.walk(...) call, you can supplement any path string you like.

Note: os.path.expanduser and/or os.path.expandvars can be used for paths strings like ~/

Extending this example:

Its easy to add in file basename tests and directoryname tests.

For Example, testing for *.jpg files:

... for j in i[2] if j.endswith('.jpg')] ...

Additionally, excluding the .git directory:

... for i in os.walk('./') if '.git' not in i[0].split('/')]

How to convert a Kotlin source file to a Java source file

Java and Kotlin runs on Java Virtual Machine (JVM).

Converting a Kotlin file to Java file involves two steps i.e. compiling the Kotlin code to the JVM bytecode and then decompile the bytecode to the Java code.

Steps to convert your Kotlin source file to Java source file:

  1. Open your Kotlin project in the Android Studio.
  2. Then navigate to Tools -> Kotlin -> Show Kotlin Bytecode.

  1. You will get the bytecode of your Kotin file.
  2. Now click on the Decompile button to get your Java code from the bytecode

Neither of these does anything useful. Use isalpha() or isdigit() from the standard library. They're in <ctype.h>.

Apply CSS style attribute dynamically in Angular JS

On a generic note, you can use a combination of ng-if and ng-style incorporate conditional changes with change in background image.

<span ng-if="selectedItem==item.id"
      ng-style="{'background-image':'url(../images/'+'{{item.id}}'+'_active.png)',
                'background-size':'52px 57px',
                'padding-top':'70px',
                'background-repeat':'no-repeat',
                'background-position': 'center'}">
 </span>
 <span ng-if="selectedItem!=item.id"
       ng-style="{'background-image':'url(../images/'+'{{item.id}}'+'_deactivated.png)',
                'background-size':'52px 57px',
                'padding-top':'70px',
                'background-repeat':'no-repeat',
                'background-position': 'center'}">

Easiest way to make lua script wait/pause/sleep/block for a few seconds?

It doesn't get easier than this. Sleep might be implemented in your FLTK or whatever, but this covers all the best ways to do standard sort of system sleeps without special event interrupts. Behold:

-- we "pcall" (try/catch) the "ex", which had better include os.sleep
-- it may be a part of the standard library in future Lua versions (past 5.2)
local ok,ex = pcall(require,"ex")
if ok then
   -- print("Ex")
   -- we need a hack now too? ex.install(), you say? okay
   pcall(ex.install)
   -- let's try something else. why not?
   if ex.sleep and not os.sleep then os.sleep = ex.sleep end
end

if not os.sleep then
   -- we make os.sleep
   -- first by trying ffi, which is part of LuaJIT, which lets us write C code
   local ok,ffi = pcall(require,"ffi")
   if ok then
      -- print("FFI")
      -- we can use FFI
      -- let's just check one more time to make sure we still don't have os.sleep
      if not os.sleep then
         -- okay, here is our custom C sleep code:
         ffi.cdef[[
            void Sleep(int ms);
            int poll(struct pollfd *fds,unsigned long nfds,int timeout);
         ]]
         if ffi.os == "Windows" then
            os.sleep = function(sec)
               ffi.C.Sleep(sec*1000)
            end
         else
            os.sleep = function(sec)
               ffi.C.poll(nil,0,sec*1000)
            end
         end
      end
   else
      -- if we can't use FFI, we try LuaSocket, which is just called "socket"
      -- I'm 99.99999999% sure of that
      local ok,socket = pcall(require,"socket")
      -- ...but I'm not 100% sure of that
      if not ok then local ok,socket = pcall(require,"luasocket") end
      -- so if we're really using socket...
      if ok then
         -- print("Socket")
         -- we might as well confirm there still is no os.sleep
         if not os.sleep then
            -- our custom socket.select to os.sleep code:
            os.sleep = function(sec)
               socket.select(nil,nil,sec)
            end
         end
      else
         -- now we're going to test "alien"
         local ok,alien = pcall(require,"alien")
         if ok then
         -- print("Alien")
         -- beam me up...
            if not os.sleep then
               -- if we still don't have os.sleep, that is
               -- now, I don't know what the hell the following code does
               if alien.platform == "windows" then
                  kernel32 = alien.load("kernel32.dll")
                  local slep = kernel32.Sleep
                  slep:types{ret="void",abi="stdcall","uint"}
                  os.sleep = function(sec)
                     slep(sec*1000)
                  end
               else
                  local pol = alien.default.poll
                  pol:types('struct', 'unsigned long', 'int')
                  os.sleep = function(sec)
                     pol(nil,0,sec*1000)
                  end
               end
            end
         elseif package.config:match("^\\") then
            -- print("busywait")
            -- if the computer is politically opposed to NIXon, we do the busywait
            -- and shake it all about
            os.sleep = function(sec)
               local timr = os.time()
               repeat until os.time() > timr + sec
            end
         else
            -- print("NIX")
            -- or we get NIXed
            os.sleep = function(sec)
               os.execute("sleep " .. sec)
            end
         end
      end
   end
end

What is a method group in C#?

The first result in your MSDN search said:

The method group identifies the one method to invoke or the set of overloaded methods from which to choose a specific method to invoke

my understanding is that basically because when you just write someInteger.ToString, it may refer to:

Int32.ToString(IFormatProvider)

or it can refer to:

Int32.ToString()

so it is called a method group.

Importing modules from parent folder

I found the following way works for importing a package from the script's parent directory. In the example, I would like to import functions in env.py from app.db package.

.
+-- my_application
    +-- alembic
        +-- env.py
    +-- app
        +-- __init__.py
        +-- db
import os
import sys
currentdir = os.path.dirname(os.path.realpath(__file__))
parentdir = os.path.dirname(currentdir)
sys.path.append(parentdir)

How to call a .NET Webservice from Android using KSOAP2?

It's very simple. You are getting the result into an Object which is a primitive one.

Your code:

Object result = (Object)envelope.getResponse();

Correct code:

SoapObject result=(SoapObject)envelope.getResponse();

//To get the data.
String resultData=result.getProperty(0).toString();
// 0 is the first object of data.

I think this should definitely work.

How can moment.js be imported with typescript?

I've just noticed that the answer that I upvoted and commented on is ambiguous. So the following is exactly what worked for me. I'm currently on Moment 2.26.0 and TS 3.8.3:

In code:

import moment from 'moment';

In TS config:

{
  "compilerOptions": {
    "esModuleInterop": true,
    ...
  }
}

I am building for both CommonJS and EMS so this config is imported into other config files.

The insight comes from this answer which relates to using Express. I figured it was worth adding here though, to help anyone who searches in relation to Moment.js, rather than something more general.

Find child element in AngularJS directive

jQlite (angular's "jQuery" port) doesn't support lookup by classes.

One solution would be to include jQuery in your app.

Another is using QuerySelector or QuerySelectorAll:

link: function(scope, element, attrs) {
   console.log(element[0].querySelector('.list-scrollable'))
}

We use the first item in the element array, which is the HTML element. element.eq(0) would yield the same.

How to set opacity to the background color of a div?

CSS 3 introduces rgba colour, and you can combine it with graphics for a backwards compatible solution.

Bootstrap 4 datapicker.js not included

You can use this and then you can add just a class form from bootstrap. (does not matter which version)

How to use multiprocessing queue in Python?

Just made a simple and general example for demonstrating passing a message over a Queue between 2 standalone programs. It doesn't directly answer the OP's question but should be clear enough indicating the concept.

Server:

multiprocessing-queue-manager-server.py

import asyncio
import concurrent.futures

How to read response headers in angularjs?

Additionally to Eugene Retunsky's answer, quoting from $http documentation regarding the response:

The response object has these properties:

  • data{string|Object} – The response body transformed with the transform functions.

  • status{number} – HTTP status code of the response.

  • headers{function([headerName])} – Header getter function.

  • config{Object} – The configuration object that was used to generate the request.

  • statusText{string} – HTTP status text of the response.

Please note that the argument callback order for $resource (v1.6) is not the same as above:

Success callback is called with (value (Object|Array), responseHeaders (Function), status (number), statusText (string)) arguments, where the value is the populated resource instance or collection object. The error callback is called with (httpResponse) argument.

Elevating process privilege programmatically?

You can indicate the new process should be started with elevated permissions by setting the Verb property of your startInfo object to 'runas', as follows:

startInfo.Verb = "runas";

This will cause Windows to behave as if the process has been started from Explorer with the "Run as Administrator" menu command.

This does mean the UAC prompt will come up and will need to be acknowledged by the user: if this is undesirable (for example because it would happen in the middle of a lengthy process), you'll need to run your entire host process with elevated permissions by Create and Embed an Application Manifest (UAC) to require the 'highestAvailable' execution level: this will cause the UAC prompt to appear as soon as your app is started, and cause all child processes to run with elevated permissions without additional prompting.

Edit: I see you just edited your question to state that "runas" didn't work for you. That's really strange, as it should (and does for me in several production apps). Requiring the parent process to run with elevated rights by embedding the manifest should definitely work, though.

raw vs. html_safe vs. h to unescape html

The difference is between Rails’ html_safe() and raw(). There is an excellent post by Yehuda Katz on this, and it really boils down to this:

def raw(stringish)

  stringish.to_s.html_safe

end

Yes, raw() is a wrapper around html_safe() that forces the input to String and then calls html_safe() on it. It’s also the case that raw() is a helper in a module whereas html_safe() is a method on the String class which makes a new ActiveSupport::SafeBuffer instance — that has a @dirty flag in it.

Refer to "Rails’ html_safe vs. raw".

Should MySQL have its timezone set to UTC?

How about making your app agnostic of the server's timezone?

Owing to any of these possible scenarios:

  • You might not have control over the web/database server's timezone settings
  • You might mess up and set the settings incorrectly
  • There are so many settings as described in the other answers, and so many things to keep track of, that you might miss something
  • An update on the server, or a software reset, or another admin, might unknowing reset the servers' timezone to the default - thus breaking your application

All of the above scenarios give rise to breaking of your application's time calculations. Thus it appears that the better approach is to make your application work independent of the server's timezone.

The idea is simply to always create dates in UTC before storing them into the database, and always re-create them from the stored values in UTC as well. This way, the time calculations won't ever be incorrect, because they're always in UTC. This can be achieved by explicity stating the DateTimeZone parameter when creating a PHP DateTime object.

On the other hand, the client side functionality can be configured to convert all dates/times received from the server to the client's timezone. Libraries like moment.js make this super easy to do.

For example, when storing a date in the database, instead of using the NOW() function of MySQL, create the timestamp string in UTC as follows:

// Storing dates
$date = new DateTime('now', new DateTimeZone('UTC'));
$sql = 'insert into table_name (date_column) values ("' . $date . '")';

// Retreiving dates
$sql = 'select date_column from table_name where condition';
$dateInUTC = new DateTime($date_string_from_db, new DateTimeZone('UTC'));

You can set the default timezone in PHP for all dates created, thus eliminating the need to initialize the DateTimeZone class every time you want to create a date.

Passing variable number of arguments around

Variadic Functions can be dangerous. Here's a safer trick:

   void func(type* values) {
        while(*values) {
            x = *values++;
            /* do whatever with x */
        }
    }

func((type[]){val1,val2,val3,val4,0});

What is a elegant way in Ruby to tell if a variable is a Hash or an Array?

First of all, the best answer for the literal question is

Hash === @some_var

But the question really should have been answered by showing how to do duck-typing here. That depends a bit on what kind of duck you need.

@some_var.respond_to?(:each_pair)

or

@some_var.respond_to?(:has_key?)

or even

@some_var.respond_to?(:to_hash)

may be right depending on the application.

What is the difference between const int*, const int * const, and int const *?

There are many other subtle points surrounding const correctness in C++. I suppose the question here has simply been about C, but I'll give some related examples since the tag is C++ :

  • You often pass large arguments like strings as TYPE const & which prevents the object from being either modified or copied. Example :

    TYPE& TYPE::operator=(const TYPE &rhs) { ... return *this; }

    But TYPE & const is meaningless because references are always const.

  • You should always label class methods that do not modify the class as const, otherwise you cannot call the method from a TYPE const & reference. Example :

    bool TYPE::operator==(const TYPE &rhs) const { ... }

  • There are common situations where both the return value and the method should be const. Example :

    const TYPE TYPE::operator+(const TYPE &rhs) const { ... }

    In fact, const methods must not return internal class data as a reference-to-non-const.

  • As a result, one must often create both a const and a non-const method using const overloading. For example, if you define T const& operator[] (unsigned i) const;, then you'll probably also want the non-const version given by :

    inline T& operator[] (unsigned i) { return const_cast<char&>( static_cast<const TYPE&>(*this)[](i) ); }

Afaik, there are no const functions in C, non-member functions cannot themselves be const in C++, const methods might have side effects, and the compiler cannot use const functions to avoid duplicate function calls. In fact, even a simple int const & reference might witness the value to which it refers be changed elsewhere.

How can I get browser to prompt to save password?

You may attach the dialog to the form, so all those inputs are in a form. The other thing is make the password text field right after the username text field.

Transparent background in JPEG image

Just wanted to add that GIF "transparency" is more like missing pixels. If you use GIF then you will see jagged edges where the background and the rest of the image meet. Using PNG, you can smoothly "composite" images together, which is what you really want. Plus PNG supports highly quality images.

Don't use "Paint". There are many high quality art applications for doing art work. I think even the cell phone apps (Pixlr is pretty good and free!) and web-based image editting apps are better. I use Gimp - free for all platforms.

While a JPEG can't be made transparent in and of itself, if your goal is to reduce the size of very large image areas for the web that need to contain transparent image areas, then there is a solution. It's a bit too complicated to post details, but Google it. Basically, you create your image with transparency and then split out the alpha channel (Gimp can do this easily) as a simple 8-bit greyscale PNG. Then you export the color data as a JPG. Now your web page uses a CANVAS tag to load the JPG as image data and applies the 8-bit greyscale PNG as the Canvas's alpha channel. The browser's Canvas does the work of making the image transparent. The JPEG stores the color info (better compressed than PNG) and the PNG is reduced to 8-bit alpha so its considerably smaller. I've saved a few hundred K per image using this technique. A few people have proposed file formats that embed PNG transparency info into a JPEG's extended information fields, but these proposal's don't have wide support as of yet.

SQL Server Script to create a new user

This past week I installed Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition on my dev box, and immediately ran into a problem I had never seen before.

I’ve installed various versions of SQL Server countless times, and it is usually a painless procedure. Install the server, run the Management Console, it’s that simple. However, after completing this installation, when I tried to log in to the server using SSMS, I got an error like the one below:

SQL Server login error 18456 “Login failed for user… (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18456)” I’m used to seeing this error if I typed the wrong password when logging in – but that’s only if I’m using mixed mode (Windows and SQL Authentication). In this case, the server was set up with Windows Authentication only, and the user account was my own. I’m still not sure why it didn’t add my user to the SYSADMIN role during setup; perhaps I missed a step and forgot to add it. At any rate, not all hope was lost.

The way to fix this, if you cannot log on with any other account to SQL Server, is to add your network login through a command line interface. For this to work, you need to be an Administrator on Windows for the PC that you’re logged onto.

Stop the MSSQL service. Open a Command Prompt using Run As Administrator. Change to the folder that holds the SQL Server EXE file; the default for SQL Server 2014 is “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Binn”. Run the following command: “sqlservr.exe –m”. This will start SQL Server in single-user mode. While leaving this Command Prompt open, open another one, repeating steps 2 and 3. In the second Command Prompt window, run “SQLCMD –S Server_Name\Instance_Name” In this window, run the following lines, pressing Enter after each one: 1

CREATE LOGIN [domainName\loginName] FROM WINDOWS 2 GO 3 SP_ADDSRVROLEMEMBER 'LOGIN_NAME','SYSADMIN' 4 GO Use CTRL+C to end both processes in the Command Prompt windows; you will be prompted to press Y to end the SQL Server process.

Restart the MSSQL service. That’s it! You should now be able to log in using your network login.

Is there a download function in jsFiddle?

No, JSFiddle doesn't have a download feature. However, it's not very difficult to get around that and save the contents of a fiddle anyway.

Since the time the accepted answer was posted, JSFiddle has made some recent UI and backend changes that affect the way a fiddle should be downloaded. Note the updated procedures below.

Simple Commandline Method

This method only downloads the fiddle's HTML, JavaScript, and CSS as a single file. The fiddle's external resources are not saved.

In the commandline shown below, fiddle_id refers to the ID number of the fiddle. For a fiddle with the URL "http://jsfiddle.net/<fiddle_user>/<fiddle_id>" or "http://jsfiddle.net/<fiddle_id>", only the fiddle_id is needed. The fiddle_user is unimportant.

At a shell prompt, enter the single commandline:

fiddleId=fiddle_id; curl "http://fiddle.jshell.net/${fiddleId}/show/" -H "Referer: http://fiddle.jshell.net/${fiddleId}/" --output "${fiddleId}.html"

The fiddle will be saved to a file named "fiddle_id.html".

Longer Browser Method

This method downloads the fiddle as well as its external resources. The steps given are based on using Google Chrome. Using other web browsers should work as well, but they may use different filenames.

  1. Select the "Share/Embed" menu/link at the top of the JSFiddle edit page. In the dialog box that appears, copy the URL shown in the "Share full screen result" field. It will be of the form "http://jsfiddle.net/<fiddle_user>/<fiddle_id>/embedded/result/" or "http://jsfiddle.net/<fiddle_id>/embedded/result/".
  2. Open a new browser window and paste in the URL copied in the previous step. Load that page.
  3. Use your browser's save feature to save the page and all of its resources to your local computer. To save all the resources using Google Chrome, for example, be sure to select "Webpage, Complete" in the "Format" menu. Be sure to specify a name for the page. Let's say it's named "fiddle.html" for this example.
  4. After the page is saved to your computer, you will have the "fiddle.html" file and a directory named "fiddle_files". The file "fiddle.html" is the wrapper page that JSFiddle uses to display a header with a "Result" title and other links. It will load your fiddle in an iframe element. For the most part, this file can be ignored or even deleted. Your fiddle's HTML, JavaScript, and CSS content will all be saved in the "fiddle_files" directory as a single file named "saved_resource.html".
  5. Copy "fiddle_files/saved_resource.html" to wherever you'd like to use it. If your fiddle included items under "External Resources", those will also appear in the "fiddle_files" directory. Be sure to copy those files to the same place to which you copied "saved_resource.html", because the HTML file will refer to those resources using relative URLs.

As mentioned earlier, other browsers may name the files differently when they are saved. For example, Firefox names the combined HTML/JS/CSS file "fiddle_files/a.html".

"Eliminate render-blocking CSS in above-the-fold content"

How I got a 99/100 on Google Page Speed (for mobile)

TLDR: Compress and embed your entire css script between your <style></style> tags.

I've been chasing down that elusive 100/100 score for about a week now. Like you, the last remaining item was was eliminating "render-blocking css for above the fold content."

Surely there is an easy solve?? Nope. I tried out Filament group's loadCSS solution. Too much .js for my liking.

What about async attributes for css (like js)? They don't exist.

I was ready to give up. Then it dawned on me. If linking the script was blocking the render, what if I instead embedded my entire css in the head instead. That way there was nothing to block.

It seemed absolutely WRONG to embed 1263 lines of CSS in my style tag. But I gave it a whirl. I compressed it (and prefixed it) first using:

postcss -u autoprefixer --autoprefixer.browsers 'last 2 versions' -u cssnano --cssnano.autoprefixer false *.css -d min/ See the NPM postcss package.

Now it was just one LONG line of space-less css. I plopped the css in <style>your;great-wall-of-china-long;css;here</style> tags on my home page. Then I re-analyzed with page speed insights.

I went from 90/100 to 99/100 on mobile!!!

This goes against everything in me (and probably you). But it SOLVED the problem. I'm just using it on my home page for now and including the compressed css programmatically via a PHP include.

YMMV (your mileage may vary) pending on the length of your css. Google may ding you for too much above the fold content. But don't assume; test!

Notes

  1. I'm only doing this on my home page for now so people get a FAST render on my most important page.

  2. Your css won't get cached. I'm not too worried though. The second they hit another page on my site, the .css will get cached (see Note 1).

How do I push to GitHub under a different username?

As mentioned before, you can use

git config user.name her_username
git config user.email her_email

to manually set username and email for single repo, but you have to add this command:

git commit --amend --reset-author

if you have already tried to push before the change. Otherwise the changes doesn't appear in config file.

How to convert an int value to string in Go?

ok,most of them have shown you something good. Let'me give you this:

// ToString Change arg to string
func ToString(arg interface{}, timeFormat ...string) string {
    if len(timeFormat) > 1 {
        log.SetFlags(log.Llongfile | log.LstdFlags)
        log.Println(errors.New(fmt.Sprintf("timeFormat's length should be one")))
    }
    var tmp = reflect.Indirect(reflect.ValueOf(arg)).Interface()
    switch v := tmp.(type) {
    case int:
        return strconv.Itoa(v)
    case int8:
        return strconv.FormatInt(int64(v), 10)
    case int16:
        return strconv.FormatInt(int64(v), 10)
    case int32:
        return strconv.FormatInt(int64(v), 10)
    case int64:
        return strconv.FormatInt(v, 10)
    case string:
        return v
    case float32:
        return strconv.FormatFloat(float64(v), 'f', -1, 32)
    case float64:
        return strconv.FormatFloat(v, 'f', -1, 64)
    case time.Time:
        if len(timeFormat) == 1 {
            return v.Format(timeFormat[0])
        }
        return v.Format("2006-01-02 15:04:05")
    case jsoncrack.Time:
        if len(timeFormat) == 1 {
            return v.Time().Format(timeFormat[0])
        }
        return v.Time().Format("2006-01-02 15:04:05")
    case fmt.Stringer:
        return v.String()
    case reflect.Value:
        return ToString(v.Interface(), timeFormat...)
    default:
        return ""
    }

Class type check in TypeScript

4.19.4 The instanceof operator

The instanceof operator requires the left operand to be of type Any, an object type, or a type parameter type, and the right operand to be of type Any or a subtype of the 'Function' interface type. The result is always of the Boolean primitive type.

So you could use

mySprite instanceof Sprite;

Note that this operator is also in ActionScript but it shouldn't be used there anymore:

The is operator, which is new for ActionScript 3.0, allows you to test whether a variable or expression is a member of a given data type. In previous versions of ActionScript, the instanceof operator provided this functionality, but in ActionScript 3.0 the instanceof operator should not be used to test for data type membership. The is operator should be used instead of the instanceof operator for manual type checking, because the expression x instanceof y merely checks the prototype chain of x for the existence of y (and in ActionScript 3.0, the prototype chain does not provide a complete picture of the inheritance hierarchy).

TypeScript's instanceof shares the same problems. As it is a language which is still in its development I recommend you to state a proposal of such facility.

How do you remove a Cookie in a Java Servlet

The proper way to remove a cookie is to set the max age to 0 and add the cookie back to the HttpServletResponse object.

Most people don't realize or forget to add the cookie back onto the response object. By doing that it will expire and remove the cookie immediately.

...retrieve cookie from HttpServletRequest
cookie.setMaxAge(0);
response.addCookie(cookie);

update to python 3.7 using anaconda

This can be installed via conda with the command conda install -c anaconda python=3.7 as per https://anaconda.org/anaconda/python.

Though not all packages support 3.7 yet, running conda update --all may resolve some dependency failures.

How do I check if an object has a specific property in JavaScript?

You can also use the ES6 Reflect object:

x = {'key': 1};
Reflect.has( x, 'key'); // returns true

Documentation on MDN for Reflect.has can be found here.

The static Reflect.has() method works like the in operator as a function.

Getting Integer value from a String using javascript/jquery

Insert Data Into Temp Table with Query

SQL Server R2 2008 needs the AS clause as follows:

SELECT *
INTO #temp
FROM (
    SELECT col1, col2
    FROM table1
) AS x

The query failed without the AS x at the end.

EDIT

It's also needed when using SS2016, had to add as t to the end.

 Select * into #result from (SELECT * FROM  #temp where [id] = @id) as t //<-- as t
