How to get the Display Name Attribute of an Enum member via MVC Razor code?

2020 Update: An updated version of the function provided by many in this thread but now for C# 7.3 onwards:

Now you can restrict generic methods to enums types so you can write a single method extension to use it with all your enums like this:

The generic extension method:

public static string ATexto<T>(this T enumeración) where T : struct, Enum {
    var tipo = enumeración.GetType();
    return tipo.GetMember(enumeración.ToString())
    .Where(x => x.MemberType == MemberTypes.Field && ((FieldInfo)x).FieldType == tipo).First()
    .GetCustomAttribute<DisplayAttribute>()?.Name ?? enumeración.ToString();
}

The enum:

public enum TipoImpuesto {
IVA, INC, [Display(Name = "IVA e INC")]IVAeINC, [Display(Name = "No aplica")]NoAplica };

How to use it:

var tipoImpuesto = TipoImpuesto.IVAeINC;
var textoTipoImpuesto = tipoImpuesto.ATexto(); // Prints "IVA e INC".

Bonus, Enums with Flags: If you are dealing with normal enums the function above is enough, but if any of your enums can take multiple values with the use of flags then you will need to modify it like this (This code uses C#8 features):

    public static string ATexto<T>(this T enumeración) where T : struct, Enum {

        var tipo = enumeración.GetType();
        var textoDirecto = enumeración.ToString();

        string obtenerTexto(string textoDirecto) => tipo.GetMember(textoDirecto)
            .Where(x => x.MemberType == MemberTypes.Field && ((FieldInfo)x).FieldType == tipo)
            .First().GetCustomAttribute<DisplayAttribute>()?.Name ?? textoDirecto;

        if (textoDirecto.Contains(", ")) {

            var texto = new StringBuilder();
            foreach (var textoDirectoAux in textoDirecto.Split(", ")) {
                texto.Append($"{obtenerTexto(textoDirectoAux)}, ");
            }
            return texto.ToString()[0..^2];

        } else {
            return obtenerTexto(textoDirecto);
        }

    }

The enum with flags:

[Flags] public enum TipoContribuyente {
    [Display(Name = "Común")] Común = 1,
    [Display(Name = "Gran Contribuyente")] GranContribuyente = 2,
    Autorretenedor = 4,
    [Display(Name = "Retenedor de IVA")] RetenedorIVA = 8,
    [Display(Name = "Régimen Simple")] RégimenSimple = 16 }

How to use it:

var tipoContribuyente = TipoContribuyente.RetenedorIVA | TipoContribuyente.GranContribuyente;
var textoAux = tipoContribuyente.ATexto(); // Prints "Gran Contribuyente, Retenedor de IVA".

Why does comparing strings using either '==' or 'is' sometimes produce a different result?

I believe that this is known as "interned" strings. Python does this, so does Java, and so do C and C++ when compiling in optimized modes.

If you use two identical strings, instead of wasting memory by creating two string objects, all interned strings with the same contents point to the same memory.

This results in the Python "is" operator returning True because two strings with the same contents are pointing at the same string object. This will also happen in Java and in C.

This is only useful for memory savings though. You cannot rely on it to test for string equality, because the various interpreters and compilers and JIT engines cannot always do it.

Mongoose delete array element in document and save

You can also do the update directly in MongoDB without having to load the document and modify it using code. Use the $pull or $pullAll operators to remove the item from the array :

Favorite.updateOne( {cn: req.params.name}, { $pullAll: {uid: [req.params.deleteUid] } } )

(you can also use updateMany for multiple documents)

http://docs.mongodb.org/manual/reference/operator/update/pullAll/

Can I update a component's props in React.js?

Props can change when a component's parent renders the component again with different properties. I think this is mostly an optimization so that no new component needs to be instantiated.

Update all objects in a collection using LINQ

I actually found an extension method that will do what I want nicely

public static IEnumerable<T> ForEach<T>(
    this IEnumerable<T> source,
    Action<T> act)
{
    foreach (T element in source) act(element);
    return source;
}

Where Is Machine.Config?

  1. Open Windows Run command. Shortcut=> windows key + r
  2. Type "microsoft.net" - MS .Net folder opens up
  3. Open "Framework"/"Framework64" folder(based on your processor).
  4. Select specific FW version folder e.g. "v4.0.30319"
  5. Open config folder
  6. Machine.config will be available there. Cheers.

Run a .bat file using python code

This has already been answered in detail on SO. Check out this thread, It should answer all your questions: Executing a subprocess fails

I've tried it myself with this code:

batchtest.py

from subprocess import Popen
p = Popen("batch.bat", cwd=r"C:\Path\to\batchfolder")
stdout, stderr = p.communicate()

batch.bat

echo Hello World!
pause

I've got the batchtest.py example from the aforementioned thread.

How to lock specific cells but allow filtering and sorting

There are a number of people with this difficulty. The prevailing answer is that you can't protect content from editing while allowing unhindered sorting. Your options are:

1) Allow editing and sorting :(

2) Apply protection and create buttons with code to sort using VBA. There are other posts explaining how to do this. I think there are two methods, either (1) get the code to unprotect the sheet, apply the sort, then re-protect the sheet, or (2) have the sheet protected using UserInterfaceOnly:=True.

3) Lorie's answer which does not allow users to select cells (https://stackoverflow.com/a/15390698/269953)

4) One solution that I haven't seen discussed is using VBA to provide some basic protection. For example, detect and revert changes using Worksheet_Change. It's far from an ideal solution however.

5) You could keep the sheet protected when the user is selecting the data and unprotected when the user has the header is selected. This leaves countless ways the users could mess up the data while also causing some usability issues, but at least reduces the odds of pesky co-workers thoughtlessly making unwanted changes.

Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
    If (Target.row = HEADER_ROW) Then
        wsMainTable.Unprotect Password:=PROTECTION_PASSWORD
    Else
        wsMainTable.Protect Password:=PROTECTION_PASSWORD, UserInterfaceOnly:=True
    End If
End Sub

Windows git "warning: LF will be replaced by CRLF", is that warning tail backward?

warning: LF will be replaced by CRLF.

Depending on the editor you are using, a text file with LF wouldn't necessary be saved with CRLF: recent editors can preserve eol style. But that git config setting insists on changing those...

Simply make sure that (as I recommend here):

git config --global core.autocrlf false

That way, you avoid any automatic transformation, and can still specify them through a .gitattributes file and core.eol directives.

windows git "LF will be replaced by CRLF"
Is this warning tail backward?

No: you are on Windows, and the git config help page does mention

Use this setting if you want to have CRLF line endings in your working directory even though the repository does not have normalized line endings.

As described in "git replacing LF with CRLF", it should only occur on checkout (not commit), with core.autocrlf=true.

       repo
    /        \
crlf->lf    lf->crlf
 /              \

As mentioned in XiaoPeng's answer, that warning is the same as:

warning: (If you check it out/or clone to another folder with your current core.autocrlf configuration,) LF will be replaced by CRLF
The file will have its original line endings in your (current) working directory.

As mentioned in git-for-windows/git issue 1242:

I still feel this message is confusing, the message could be extended to include a better explanation of the issue, for example: "LF will be replaced by CRLF in file.json after removing the file and checking it out again".

Note: Git 2.19 (Sept 2018), when using core.autocrlf, the bogus "LF will be replaced by CRLF" warning is now suppressed.

As quaylar rightly comments, if there is a conversion on commit, it is to LF only.

That specific warning "LF will be replaced by CRLF" comes from convert.c#check_safe_crlf():

if (checksafe == SAFE_CRLF_WARN)
  warning("LF will be replaced by CRLF in %s.
           The file will have its original line endings
           in your working directory.", path);
else /* i.e. SAFE_CRLF_FAIL */
  die("LF would be replaced by CRLF in %s", path);

It is called by convert.c#crlf_to_git(), itself called by convert.c#convert_to_git(), itself called by convert.c#renormalize_buffer().

And that last renormalize_buffer() is only called by merge-recursive.c#blob_unchanged().

So I suspect this conversion happens on a git commit only if said commit is part of a merge process.

Note: with Git 2.17 (Q2 2018), a code cleanup adds some explanation.

See commit 8462ff4 (13 Jan 2018) by Torsten Bögershausen (tboegi).
(Merged by Junio C Hamano -- gitster -- in commit 9bc89b1, 13 Feb 2018)

convert_to_git(): safe_crlf/checksafe becomes int conv_flags

When calling convert_to_git(), the checksafe parameter defined what should happen if the EOL conversion (CRLF --> LF --> CRLF) does not roundtrip cleanly.
In addition, it also defined if line endings should be renormalized (CRLF --> LF) or kept as they are.

checksafe was an safe_crlf enum with these values:

SAFE_CRLF_FALSE: do nothing in case of EOL roundtrip errors
SAFE_CRLF_FAIL: die in case of EOL roundtrip errors
SAFE_CRLF_WARN: print a warning in case of EOL roundtrip errors
SAFE_CRLF_RENORMALIZE: change CRLF to LF
SAFE_CRLF_KEEP_CRLF: keep all line endings as they are

Note that a regression introduced in 8462ff4 ("convert_to_git(): safe_crlf/checksafe becomes int conv_flags", 2018-01-13, Git 2.17.0) back in Git 2.17 cycle caused autocrlf rewrites to produce a warning message despite setting safecrlf=false.

See commit 6cb0912 (04 Jun 2018) by Anthony Sottile (asottile).

How to deep watch an array in angularjs?

$watchCollection accomplishes what you want to do. Below is an example copied from angularjs website http://docs.angularjs.org/api/ng/type/$rootScope.Scope While it's convenient, the performance needs to be taken into consideration especially when you watch a large collection.

  $scope.names = ['igor', 'matias', 'misko', 'james'];
  $scope.dataCount = 4;

  $scope.$watchCollection('names', function(newNames, oldNames) {
     $scope.dataCount = newNames.length;
  });

  expect($scope.dataCount).toEqual(4);
  $scope.$digest();

  //still at 4 ... no changes
  expect($scope.dataCount).toEqual(4);

  $scope.names.pop();
  $scope.$digest();

  //now there's been a change
  expect($scope.dataCount).toEqual(3);

adb command not found in linux environment

adb is in android-sdks/tools directory. You simply type this command: adb logcat.

If you want to your stack traces in a text file use this command: adb logcat > trace.txt. Now your traces are copied into that file.

If it is not working then go to android-sdks/platform-tools then put this command: ./adb logcat > trace.txt. Hope it will helps to you.

VS 2012: Scroll Solution Explorer to current file

There are many ways to do this:

Go to current File once:

  • Visual Studio 2013

    VS 13 has it's own shortcut to do this: Ctrl+\, S (Press Ctrl + \, Release both keys, Press the S key)

    You can edit this default shortcut, if you are searching for SolutionExplorer.SyncWithActiveDocument in your Keyboard Settings (Tools->Options->Enviornment->Keyboard)

    In addition there is also a new icon in the Solution Explorer, more about this here.

    Sync with Active Document Button in VS2013 - Solution Explorer

  • Visual Studio 2012

    If you use VS 2012, there is a great plugin to add this new functionality from VS2013 to VS2012: . The default shortcut is strg + alt + ü. I think this one is the best, as navigating to the solution explorer is mapped to strg + ü.

  • Resharper

    If you use Resharper try Shift+Alt+L

    This is a nice mapping as you can use Strg+Alt+L for navigating to the solution explorer

Track current file all the time:

  • Visual Studio >= 2012:

    If you like to track your current file in the solution explorer all the time, you can use the solution from the accepted answer (Tools->Options->Projects and Solutions->Track Active Item in Solution Explorer), but I think this can get very annoying in large projects.

How to increase number of threads in tomcat thread pool?

You would have to tune it according to your environment.

Sometimes it's more useful to increase the size of the backlog (acceptCount) instead of the maximum number of threads.

Say, instead of

<Connector ... maxThreads="500" acceptCount="50"

you use

<Connector ... maxThreads="300" acceptCount="150"

you can get much better performance in some cases, cause there would be less threads disputing the resources and the backlog queue would be consumed faster.

In any case, though, you have to do some benchmarks to really know what is best.

Bootstrap NavBar with left, center or right aligned items

The simplest solution:

Just divide the navbar into columns: for instance, if you have 24 columns over all, 12 are going to be empty and 12 are going to contrain the navbar:

<nav class="navbar navbar-default">
    <div class="row">
       <div class="col-sm-4"></div>
       <div class="col-sm-4"></div>
       <div class="col-sm-4"></div>

       <div class="col-sm-12">
           <ul class="nav navbar-nav" align="center">
              <li><a href="#">Home</a></li>
              <li><a href="#">First Link</a></li>
              <li><a href="#">Second Link</a></li>
              <li><a href="#">Third Link</a></li>
              <li><a href="#">Fourth Link</a></li>
           </ul>
       </div>
    </div>
</nav>

jQuery Determine if a matched class has a given id

Just to say I eventually solved this using index().

NOTHING else seemed to work.

So for sibling elements this is a good work around if you are first selecting by a common class and then want to modify something differently for each specific one.

EDIT: for those who don't know (like me) index() gives an index value for each element that matches the selector, counting from 0, depending on their order in the DOM. As long as you know how many elements there are with class="foo" you don't need an id.

Obviously this won't always help, but someone might find it useful.

MySQL show status - active or total connections?

According to the docs, it means the total number throughout history:

Connections

The number of connection attempts (successful or not) to the MySQL server.

You can see the number of active connections either through the Threads_connected status variable:

Threads_connected

The number of currently open connections.

mysql> show status where `variable_name` = 'Threads_connected';
+-------------------+-------+
| Variable_name     | Value |
+-------------------+-------+
| Threads_connected | 4     |
+-------------------+-------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

... or through the show processlist command:

mysql> show processlist;

How to mkdir only if a directory does not already exist?

Referring to man page man mkdir for option -p

   -p, --parents
          no error if existing, make parent directories as needed

which will create all directories in a given path, if exists throws no error otherwise it creates all directories from left to right in the given path. Try the below command. the directories newdir and anotherdir doesn't exists before issuing this command

Correct Usage

mkdir -p /tmp/newdir/anotherdir

After executing the command you can see newdir and anotherdir created under /tmp. You can issue this command as many times you want, the command always have exit(0). Due to this reason most people use this command in shell scripts before using those actual paths.

What is the difference between ApplicationContext and WebApplicationContext in Spring MVC?

Web application context, specified by the WebApplicationContext interface, is a Spring application context for a web applications. It has all the properties of a regular Spring application context, given that the WebApplicationContext interface extends the ApplicationContext interface, and add a method for retrieving the standard Servlet API ServletContext for the web application.

In addition to the standard Spring bean scopes singleton and prototype, there are three additional scopes available in a web application context:

  • request - scopes a single bean definition to the lifecycle of a single HTTP request; that is, each HTTP request has its own instance of a bean created off the back of a single bean definition
  • session - scopes a single bean definition to the lifecycle of an HTTP Session
  • application - scopes a single bean definition to the lifecycle of a ServletContext

Create a Date with a set timezone without using a string representation

This may help someone, put UTC at the end of what you pass in to the new constructor

At least in chrome you can say var date = new Date("2014-01-01 11:00:00 UTC")

How to change the default GCC compiler in Ubuntu?

This is the great description and step-by-step instruction how to create and manage master and slave (gcc and g++) alternatives.

Shortly it's:

sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-4.6 60 --slave /usr/bin/g++ g++ /usr/bin/g++-4.6
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-4.7 40 --slave /usr/bin/g++ g++ /usr/bin/g++-4.7
sudo update-alternatives --config gcc

What is a callback?

callback work steps:

1) we have to implement ICallbackEventHandler Interface

2) Register the client script :

 String cbReference = Page.ClientScript.GetCallbackEventReference(this, "arg", "ReceiveServerData", "context");
    String callbackScript = "function UseCallBack(arg, context)" + "{ " + cbReference + ";}";
    Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this.GetType(), "UseCallBack", callbackScript, true);

1) from UI call Onclient click call javascript function for EX:- builpopup(p1,p2,p3...)

var finalfield= p1,p2,p3; UseCallBack(finalfield, ""); data from the client passed to server side by using UseCallBack

2) public void RaiseCallbackEvent(string eventArgument) In eventArgument we get the passed data //do some server side operation and passed to "callbackResult"

3) GetCallbackResult() // using this method data will be passed to client(ReceiveServerData() function) side

callbackResult

4) Get the data at client side: ReceiveServerData(text) , in text server response , we wil get.

VS 2017 Metadata file '.dll could not be found

For me cleaning and building didn't work. Unloading the project didn't work. Restarting Visual Studio or even the pc didn't work. This is what did work:

Go to each of the projects that are throwing the error, and in References, delete the reference to the problematic project and add it again. That solves the issue.

The problem seems to be related to moving a project around (Move it inside a folder for example), then a different project that references it, have its path wrong and can't find it.

How to get the selected index of a RadioGroup in Android

You can simply

-declare the radio group and a radio button out of onCreate method

private RadioGroup GrupName;
private RadioButton NameButton;

-set the view id in the onCreate method

GrupName = (RadioGroup) findViewById(R.id.radioGroupid);

-take the radiobutton id selected using

int id = GroupName.getCheckedRadioButtonId();

-use the id to match the buttonselected view

NameButton = (RadioButton) findViewById(id);

-finally get the value of the radio button

String valueExpected = NameButton.getText().toString();

--- PS: IF YOU WANT AN INT VALUE, THEN YOU CAN CAST IT

int valueExpectedIn = Integer.parseInt(valueExpected);

Custom Listview Adapter with filter Android

If you want to achieve filtering with custom model class in kotlin then you can implement below code.

Step 1: Add SearchView in your xml file and then in your activity or fragment implement SearchView.OnQueryTextListener

class SearchActivity : AppCompatActivity(),SearchView.OnQueryTextListener {

    lateinit var sectionModelArrayList: ArrayList<CategorySectionModel>
    lateinit var filteredArrayList: ArrayList<CategorySectionModel>

    override fun onCreate(savedInstanceState: Bundle?) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState)
        setContentView(R.layout.activity_category_updated)
        searchView.setOnQueryTextListener(this)
    }

    //Called this method with you own data to populate the recycler view.
    private fun parseJson() {
        rv_category_list.layoutManager = LinearLayoutManager(this, RecyclerView.VERTICAL, false)
        adapter = CategoryLabelAdapter(sectionModelArrayList, this)
        rv_category_list.adapter = adapter
    }

    override fun onQueryTextSubmit(query: String?): Boolean {
        return false
    }

    override fun onQueryTextChange(newText: String?): Boolean {
        adapter.filter!!.filter(newText.toString())
        return false
    }

My model class CategorySectionModel looks like

class CategorySectionModel(val categoryLabel: String, val categoryItemList: ArrayList<CategoryItem>)

Now we have to work on adapter class and there you need to implement Filterable interface and override getFilter() method like below

class CategoryLabelAdapter(internal var data: ArrayList<CategorySectionModel>?, internal var activity: Context) : RecyclerView.Adapter<CategoryLabelAdapter.ViewHolder>(), Filterable {
    val originalList = data
    override fun onCreateViewHolder(parent: ViewGroup, viewType: Int): ViewHolder {
        val v = LayoutInflater.from(parent.context).inflate(R.layout.item_category_name, parent, false)
        return ViewHolder(v)
    }

    override fun getItemCount(): Int {
        return data!!.size
    }

    override fun onBindViewHolder(holder: ViewHolder, position: Int) {
        data?.get(position)?.let { holder.bindItem(it) }
    }

    class ViewHolder(itemView: View) : RecyclerView.ViewHolder(itemView) {
        @SuppressLint("SetTextI18n")
        fun bindItem(data: CategorySectionModel) {
            itemView.tv_category_name.text = data.categoryLabel
        }
    }

    override fun getFilter(): Filter? {
        return object : Filter() {
            override fun performFiltering(constraint: CharSequence): FilterResults {
                val results = FilterResults()
                if (constraint.isEmpty()) {
                    //no filter implemented we return full list
                    results.values = data
                    results.count = data!!.size
                } else {
                    //Here we perform filtering operation
                    val list: ArrayList<CategorySectionModel> = ArrayList()
                    for (p in data!!) {
                        if (p.categoryLabel.toUpperCase().startsWith(constraint.toString().toUpperCase())) list.add(p)
                    }
                    results.values = list
                    results.count = list.size
                }
                return results
            }

            override fun publishResults(constraint: CharSequence, results: FilterResults) {
                // Now we have to inform the adapter about the new list filtered
                if (results.count == 0 || constraint == "") {
                    data = originalList
                    notifyDataSetChanged()
                } else {
                    data = results.values as ArrayList<CategorySectionModel>?
                    notifyDataSetChanged()
                }

How to convert column with string type to int form in pyspark data frame?

from pyspark.sql.types import IntegerType
data_df = data_df.withColumn("Plays", data_df["Plays"].cast(IntegerType()))
data_df = data_df.withColumn("drafts", data_df["drafts"].cast(IntegerType()))

You can run loop for each column but this is the simplest way to convert string column into integer.

mongodb: insert if not exists

In general, using update is better in MongoDB as it will just create the document if it doesn't exist yet, though I'm not sure how to work that with your python adapter.

Second, if you only need to know whether or not that document exists, count() which returns only a number will be a better option than find_one which supposedly transfer the whole document from your MongoDB causing unnecessary traffic.

How can I hide the Android keyboard using JavaScript?

Giving soft keyboard some time to close works for me.

$('#ButtonCancel').click(function () {

Find length of 2D array Python

You can use numpy.shape.

import numpy as np
x = np.array([[1, 2],[3, 4],[5, 6]])

Result:

>>> x
array([[1, 2],
       [3, 4],
       [5, 6]])
>>> np.shape(x)
(3, 2)

First value in the tuple is number rows = 3; second value in the tuple is number of columns = 2.

Move a view up only when the keyboard covers an input field

"I forgot to mention that I am new to Swift :( What would be the correct syntax to check this? (how do I get the field name in this function?) "

Ok . First confirm to the UITextFieldDelegate protocol

class YourClass:UITextFieldDelegate

Then implement the function

func textFieldDidBeginEditing(textField: UITextField!) {

    if textField == txtOne
    {
        println("TextOne")
    }
    if textField == txtTwo
    {
        println("TextTwo")
    }
}

You should note that the proper approach is to use a scrollview and place the view that should be shifted up/down inside the scroll view and handle keyboard events accordingly

How do you validate a URL with a regular expression in Python?

Nowadays, in 90% of case if you working with URL in Python you probably use python-requests. Hence the question here - why not reuse URL validation from requests?

UIScrollView Scrollable Content Size Ambiguity

I solved this kind of problem for my view by using "Resolve auto layout issues" > "Add missing constraints" for Selected View enter image description here

The following two constraints solve my problem:

trailing = Stack View.trailing - 10
bottom = Stack View.bottom + 76

in which: trailing, bottom are the trailing, bottom of UIScrollView

Convert string to decimal, keeping fractions

Python if not == vs if !=

In the first one Python has to execute one more operations than necessary(instead of just checking not equal to it has to check if it is not true that it is equal, thus one more operation). It would be impossible to tell the difference from one execution, but if run many times, the second would be more efficient. Overall I would use the second one, but mathematically they are the same

C++ [Error] no matching function for call to

to add to John's answer:

what you want to pass to the shuffle function is a deck of cards from the class deckOfCards that you've declared in main; however, the deck of cards or vector<Card> deck that you've declared in your class is private, so not accessible from outside the class. this means you'd want a getter function, something like this:

class deckOfCards
{
    private:
        vector<Card> deck;

    public:
        deckOfCards();
        static int count;
        static int next;
        void shuffle(vector<Card>& deck);
        Card dealCard();
        bool moreCards();
        vector<Card>& getDeck() {   //GETTER
            return deck;
        }
};

this will in turn allow you to call your shuffle function from main like this:

deckOfCards cardDeck; // create DeckOfCards object
cardDeck.shuffle(cardDeck.getDeck()); // shuffle the cards in the deck

however, you have more problems, specifically when calling cout. first, you're calling the dealCard function wrongly; as dealCard is a memeber function of a class, you should be calling it like this cardDeck.dealCard(); instead of this dealCard(cardDeck);.

now, we come to your second problem - print to standard output. you're trying to print your deal card, which is an object of type Card by using the following instruction:

cout << cardDeck.dealCard();// deal the cards in the deck

yet, the cout doesn't know how to print it, as it's not a standard type. this means you should overload your << operator to print whatever you want it to print when calling with a Card type.

Where does Git store files?

I also couldn't find my git repository. I am using Windows 8 and created my repository (by mistake) under C:\Program Files (x86)\Git. I could see the repository folder in bash but not in cmd or Windows Explorer.

Then I remembered about Windows's "Virtual Store" feature. My repository folder was actually created under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Git\<myrepo> and in there was my .git folder!

numpy matrix vector multiplication

Simplest solution

Use numpy.dot or a.dot(b). See the documentation here.

>>> a = np.array([[ 5, 1 ,3],
                  [ 1, 1 ,1],
                  [ 1, 2 ,1]])
>>> b = np.array([1, 2, 3])
>>> print a.dot(b)
array([16, 6, 8])

This occurs because numpy arrays are not matrices, and the standard operations *, +, -, / work element-wise on arrays. Instead, you could try using numpy.matrix, and * will be treated like matrix multiplication.

Other Solutions

Also know there are other options:

  • As noted below, if using python3.5+ the @ operator works as you'd expect:

    >>> print(a @ b)
    array([16, 6, 8])

  • If you want overkill, you can use numpy.einsum. The documentation will give you a flavor for how it works, but honestly, I didn't fully understand how to use it until reading this answer and just playing around with it on my own.

    >>> np.einsum('ji,i->j', a, b)
    array([16, 6, 8])

  • As of mid 2016 (numpy 1.10.1), you can try the experimental numpy.matmul, which works like numpy.dot with two major exceptions: no scalar multiplication but it works with stacks of matrices.

    >>> np.matmul(a, b)
    array([16, 6, 8])

  • numpy.inner functions the same way as numpy.dot for matrix-vector multiplication but behaves differently for matrix-matrix and tensor multiplication (see Wikipedia regarding the differences between the inner product and dot product in general or see this SO answer regarding numpy's implementations).

    >>> np.inner(a, b)
    array([16, 6, 8])

    # Beware using for matrix-matrix multiplication though!
    >>> b = a.T
    >>> np.dot(a, b)
    array([[35,  9, 10],
           [ 9,  3,  4],
           [10,  4,  6]])
    >>> np.inner(a, b)
    array([[29, 12, 19],
           [ 7,  4,  5],
           [ 8,  5,  6]])

Rarer options for edge cases

  • If you have tensors (arrays of dimension greater than or equal to one), you can use numpy.tensordot with the optional argument axes=1:

    >>> np.tensordot(a, b, axes=1)
    array([16,  6,  8])

  • Don't use numpy.vdot if you have a matrix of complex numbers, as the matrix will be flattened to a 1D array, then it will try to find the complex conjugate dot product between your flattened matrix and vector (which will fail due to a size mismatch n*m vs n).

how to use DEXtoJar

  1. old link

  2. dex2jar syntax

  3. want dex to jar

    • if you have dex file (eg. using FDex2 dump from a running android apk/app), then you can:

How to save RecyclerView's scroll position using RecyclerView.State?

I wanted to save Recycler View's scroll position when navigating away from my list activity and then clicking the back button to navigate back. Many of the solutions provided for this problem were either much more complicated than needed or didn't work for my configuration, so I thought I'd share my solution.

First save your instance state in onPause as many have shown. I think it's worth emphasizing here that this version of onSaveInstanceState is a method from the RecyclerView.LayoutManager class.

private LinearLayoutManager mLayoutManager;
Parcelable state;

        @Override
        public void onPause() {
            super.onPause();
            state = mLayoutManager.onSaveInstanceState();
        }

The key to getting this to work properly is to make sure you call onRestoreInstanceState after you attach your adapter, as some have indicated in other threads. However the actual method call is much simpler than many have indicated.

private void someMethod() {
    mVenueRecyclerView.setAdapter(mVenueAdapter);
    mLayoutManager.onRestoreInstanceState(state);
}

Selecting multiple columns in a Pandas dataframe

The different approaches discussed in the previous answers are based on the assumption that either the user knows column indices to drop or subset on, or the user wishes to subset a dataframe using a range of columns (for instance between 'C' : 'E').

pandas.DataFrame.drop() is certainly an option to subset data based on a list of columns defined by user (though you have to be cautious that you always use copy of dataframe and inplace parameters should not be set to True!!)

Another option is to use pandas.columns.difference(), which does a set difference on column names, and returns an index type of array containing desired columns. Following is the solution:

df = pd.DataFrame([[2,3,4], [3,4,5]], columns=['a','b','c'], index=[1,2])
columns_for_differencing = ['a']
df1 = df.copy()[df.columns.difference(columns_for_differencing)]
print(df1)

The output would be:

    b   c
1   3   4
2   4   5

How to change the status bar color in Android?

this is very easy way to do this without any Library: if the OS version is not supported - under kitkat - so nothing happend. i do this steps:

  1. in my xml i added to the top this View:
<View
        android:id="@+id/statusBarBackground"
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content" />

then i made this method:

 public void setStatusBarColor(View statusBar,int color){
    if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.KITKAT) {
           Window w = getWindow();
           w.setFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_TRANSLUCENT_STATUS,WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_TRANSLUCENT_STATUS);
           //status bar height
           int actionBarHeight = getActionBarHeight();
           int statusBarHeight = getStatusBarHeight();
           //action bar height
           statusBar.getLayoutParams().height = actionBarHeight + statusBarHeight;
           statusBar.setBackgroundColor(color);
     }
}

also you need those both methods to get action Bar & status bar height:

public int getActionBarHeight() {
    int actionBarHeight = 0;
    TypedValue tv = new TypedValue();
    if (getTheme().resolveAttribute(android.R.attr.actionBarSize, tv, true))
    {
       actionBarHeight = TypedValue.complexToDimensionPixelSize(tv.data,getResources().getDisplayMetrics());
    }
    return actionBarHeight;
}

public int getStatusBarHeight() {
    int result = 0;
    int resourceId = getResources().getIdentifier("status_bar_height", "dimen", "android");
    if (resourceId > 0) {
        result = getResources().getDimensionPixelSize(resourceId);
    }
    return result;
}

then the only thing you need is this line to set status bar color:

setStatusBarColor(findViewById(R.id.statusBarBackground),getResources().getColor(android.R.color.white));

How to grep with a list of words

Java - sending HTTP parameters via POST method easily

For those having trouble receiving the request on a php page using $_POST because you expect key-value pairs:

While all the answers where very helpful, I lacked some basic understanding on which string actually to post, since in the old apache HttpClient I used

new UrlEncodedFormEntity(nameValuePairs); (Java)

and then could use $_POST in php do get the key-value pairs.

To my understanding now one has build that string manually before posting. So the string needs to look like

val data = "key1=val1&key2=val2"

but instead just adding it to the url it is posted (in the header).

The alternative would be to use a json-string instead:

val data = "{\"key1\":\"val1\",\"key2\":\"val2\"}" // {"key1":"val1","key2":"val2"}

and pull it in php without $_POST:

$json_params = file_get_contents('php://input');
// echo_p("Data: $json_params");
$data = json_decode($json_params, true);

Here you find a sample code in Kotlin:

class TaskDownloadTest : AsyncTask<Void, Void, Void>() {
    override fun doInBackground(vararg params: Void): Void? {
        var urlConnection: HttpURLConnection? = null

        try {

            val postData = JsonObject()
            postData.addProperty("key1", "val1")
            postData.addProperty("key2", "val2")

            // reformat json to key1=value1&key2=value2
            // keeping json because I may change the php part to interpret json requests, could be a HashMap instead
            val keys = postData.keySet()
            var request = ""
            keys.forEach { key ->
                // Log.i("data", key)
                request += "$key=${postData.get(key)}&"
            }
            request = request.replace("\"", "").removeSuffix("&")
            val requestLength = request.toByteArray().size
            // Warning in Android 9 you need to add a line in the application part of the manifest: android:usesCleartextTraffic="true"
            // https://stackoverflow.com/questions/45940861/android-8-cleartext-http-traffic-not-permitted

            // urlConnection.setRequestProperty("Content-Type", "application/json")
            // urlConnection.setRequestProperty("Key","Value")
            urlConnection.readTimeout = 5000
            urlConnection.connectTimeout = 5000
            urlConnection.requestMethod = "POST"
            urlConnection.doOutput = true
            // urlConnection.doInput = true
            urlConnection.useCaches = false
            urlConnection.setFixedLengthStreamingMode(requestLength)
            // urlConnection.setChunkedStreamingMode(0) // if you do not want to handle request length which is fine for small requests

            val out = urlConnection.outputStream
            val writer = BufferedWriter(
                OutputStreamWriter(

            writer.write(request)
            // writer.write("{\"key1\":\"val1\",\"key2\":\"val2\"}") // {"key1":"val1","key2":"val2"} JsonFormat or just postData.toString() for $json_params=file_get_contents('php://input'); json_decode($json_params, true); in php
            // writer.write("key1=val1&key2=val2") // key=value format for $_POST in php

What is ".NET Core"?

Microsoft recognized the future web open source paradigm and decided to open .NET to other operating systems. .NET Core is a .NET Framework for Mac and Linux. It is a “lightweight” .NET Framework, so some features/libraries are missing.

On Windows, I would still run .NET Framework and Visual Studio 2015. .NET Core is more friendly with the open source world like Node.js, npm, Yeoman, Docker, etc.

You can develop full-fledged web sites and RESTful APIs on Mac or Linux with Visual Studio Code + .NET Core which wasn't possible before. So if you love Mac or Ubuntu and you are a .NET developer then go ahead and set it up.

For Mono vs. .NET Core, Mono was developed as a .NET Framework for Linux which is now acquired by Microsoft (company called Xamarin) and used in mobile development. Eventually, Microsoft may merge/migrate Mono to .NET Core. I would not worry about Mono right now.

How to change a dataframe column from String type to Double type in PySpark?

Given answers are enough to deal with the problem but I want to share another way which may be introduced the new version of Spark (I am not sure about it) so given answer didn't catch it.

We can reach the column in spark statement with col("colum_name") keyword:

jQuery.parseJSON throws “Invalid JSON” error due to escaped single quote in JSON

Striking a similar issue using CakePHP to output a JavaScript script-block using PHP's native json_encode. $contractorCompanies contains values that have single quotation marks and as explained above and expected json_encode($contractorCompanies) doesn't escape them because its valid JSON.

<?php $this->Html->scriptBlock("var contractorCompanies = jQuery.parseJSON( '".(json_encode($contractorCompanies)."' );"); ?>

By adding addslashes() around the JSON encoded string you then escape the quotation marks allowing Cake / PHP to echo the correct javascript to the browser. JS errors disappear.

<?php $this->Html->scriptBlock("var contractorCompanies = jQuery.parseJSON( '".addslashes(json_encode($contractorCompanies))."' );"); ?>

How to use if statements in LESS

I wrote a mixin for some syntactic sugar ;)
Maybe someone likes this way of writing if-then-else better than using guards

depends on Less 1.7.0

https://github.com/pixelass/more-or-less/blob/master/less/fn/_if.less

Usage:

.if(isnumber(2), {
    .-then(){
        log {
            isnumber: true;
        }
    }
    .-else(){
        log {
            isnumber: false;
        }
    }
});

.if(lightness(#fff) gt (20% * 2), {
    .-then(){
        log {
            is-light: true;
        }
    }
});

using on example from above

.if(@debug, {
    .-then(){
        header {
            background-color: yellow;
            #title {
                background-color: orange;
            }
        }
        article {
            background-color: red;
        }
    }
});

Guid is all 0's (zeros)?

Lessons to learn from this:

1) Guid is a value type, not a reference type.

2) Calling the default constructor new S() on any value type always gives you back the all-zero form of that value type, whatever it is. It is logically the same as default(S).

How to tell CRAN to install package dependencies automatically?

On your own system, try

install.packages("foo", dependencies=...)

with the dependencies= argument is documented as

dependencies: logical indicating to also install uninstalled packages
      which these packages depend on/link to/import/suggest (and so
      on recursively). Not used if ‘repos = NULL’. Can also be a
      character vector, a subset of ‘c("Depends", "Imports",
      "LinkingTo", "Suggests", "Enhances")’.

      Only supported if ‘lib’ is of length one (or missing), so it
      is unambiguous where to install the dependent packages. If
      this is not the case it is ignored, with a warning.

      The default, ‘NA’, means ‘c("Depends", "Imports",
      "LinkingTo")’.

      ‘TRUE’ means (as from R 2.15.0) to use ‘c("Depends",
      "Imports", "LinkingTo", "Suggests")’ for ‘pkgs’ and
      ‘c("Depends", "Imports", "LinkingTo")’ for added
      dependencies: this installs all the packages needed to run
      ‘pkgs’, their examples, tests and vignettes (if the package
      author specified them correctly).

so you probably want a value TRUE.

In your package, list what is needed in Depends:, see the Writing R Extensions manual which is pretty clear on this.

Replace a value if null or undefined in JavaScript

?? should be preferred to || because it checks only for nulls and undefined.

All The expressions below are true:

(null || 'x') === 'x' ;
(undefined || 'x') === 'x' ;
//Most of the times you don't want the result below
('' || 'x') === 'x'  ;
(0 || 'x') === 'x' ;
(false || 'x') === 'x' ;
//-----

//Using ?? is preferred
(null ?? 'x') === 'x' ;
(undefined ?? 'x') === 'x' ;
//?? works only for null and undefined, which is in general safer
('' ?? 'x') === '' ;
(0 ?? 'x') === 0 ;
(false ?? 'x') === false ;

Bottom line:

int j=i ?? 10; is perfectly fine to use in javascript also. Just replace int with let.

Asterisk: Check browser compatibility and if you really need to support these other browsers use babel.

How to handle change text of span

IIS_IUSRS and IUSR permissions in IIS8

I hate to post my own answer, but some answers recently have ignored the solution I posted in my own question, suggesting approaches that are nothing short of foolhardy.

In short - you do not need to edit any Windows user account privileges at all. Doing so only introduces risk. The process is entirely managed in IIS using inherited privileges.

Applying Modify/Write Permissions to the Correct User Account

  1. Right-click the domain when it appears under the Sites list, and choose Edit Permissions

    enter image description here

    Under the Security tab, you will see MACHINE_NAME\IIS_IUSRS is listed. This means that IIS automatically has read-only permission on the directory (e.g. to run ASP.Net in the site). You do not need to edit this entry.

    enter image description here

  2. Click the Edit button, then Add...

  3. In the text box, type IIS AppPool\MyApplicationPoolName, substituting MyApplicationPoolName with your domain name or whatever application pool is accessing your site, e.g. IIS AppPool\mydomain.com

    enter image description here

  4. Press the Check Names button. The text you typed will transform (notice the underline):

    enter image description here

  5. Press OK to add the user

  6. With the new user (your domain) selected, now you can safely provide any Modify or Write permissions

    enter image description here

Make hibernate ignore class variables that are not mapped

JPA will use all properties of the class, unless you specifically mark them with @Transient:

@Transient
private String agencyName;

The @Column annotation is purely optional, and is there to let you override the auto-generated column name. Furthermore, the length attribute of @Column is only used when auto-generating table definitions, it has no effect on the runtime.

How can I get an object's absolute position on the page in Javascript?

var cumulativeOffset = function(element) {
    var top = 0, left = 0;
    do {
        top += element.offsetTop  || 0;
        left += element.offsetLeft || 0;
        element = element.offsetParent;
    } while(element);

    return {
        top: top,
        left: left
    };
};

Java Convert GMT/UTC to Local time doesn't work as expected

tl;dr

Instant.now() // Capture the current moment in UTC.
.atZone( ZoneId.systemDefault() ) // Adjust into the JVM's current default time zone. Same moment, different wall-clock time. Produces a `ZonedDateTime` object.
.toInstant() // Extract a `Instant` (always in UTC) object from the `ZonedDateTime` object.
.atZone( ZoneId.of( "Europe/Paris" ) )  // Adjust the `Instant` into a specific time zone. Renders a `ZonedDateTime` object. Same moment, different wall-clock time.
.toInstant() // And back to UTC again.

java.time

The modern approach uses the java.time classes that supplanted the troublesome old legacy date-time classes (Date, Calendar, etc.).

Your use of the word "local" contradicts the usage in the java.time class. In java.time, "local" means any locality or all localities, but not any one particular locality. The java.time classes with names starting with "Local…" all lack any concept of time zone or offset-from-UTC. So they do not represent a specific moment, they are not a point on the timeline, whereas your Question is all about moments, points on the timeline viewed through various wall-clock times.

Get the current system time (local time)

If you want to capture the current moment in UTC, use Instant. The Instant class represents a moment on the timeline in UTC with a resolution of nanoseconds (up to nine (9) digits of a decimal fraction).

Instant instant = Instant.now() ; // Capture the current moment in UTC.

Adjust into a time zone by applying a ZoneId to get a ZonedDateTime. Same moment, same point on the timeline, different wall-clock time.

Specify a proper time zone name in the format of continent/region, such as America/Montreal, Africa/Casablanca, or Pacific/Auckland. Never use the 3-4 letter abbreviation such as EST or IST as they are not true time zones, not standardized, and not even unique(!).

ZoneId z = ZoneId.of( "America/Montreal" ) ;
ZonedDateTime zdt = instant.atZone( z ) ;  // Same moment, different wall-clock time.

As a shortcut, you can skip the usage of Instant to get a ZonedDateTime.

ZoneId z = ZoneId.of( "America/Montreal" ) ;
ZonedDateTime zdt = ZonedDateTime.now( z ) ;

Convert Local time to UTC // Works Fine Till here

You can adjust from the zoned date-time to UTC by extracting an Instant from a ZonedDateTime.

ZoneId z = ZoneId.of( "America/Montreal" ) ;
ZonedDateTime zdt = ZonedDateTime.now( z ) ;
Instant instant = zdt.toInstant() ;

Reverse the UTC time, back to local time.

As shown above, apply a ZoneId to adjust the same moment into another wall-clock time used by the people of a certain region (a time zone).

Instant instant = Instant.now() ; // Capture current moment in UTC.

ZoneId zDefault = ZoneId.systemDefault() ;  // The JVM's current default time zone.
ZonedDateTime zdtDefault = instant.atZone( zDefault ) ;

ZoneId zTunis = ZoneId.of( "Africa/Tunis" ) ;  // The JVM's current default time zone.
ZonedDateTime zdtTunis = instant.atZone( zTunis ) ;

ZoneId zAuckland = ZoneId.of( "Pacific/Auckland" ) ;  // The JVM's current default time zone.
ZonedDateTime zdtAuckland = instant.atZone( zAuckland ) ;

Going back to UTC from a zoned date-time, call ZonedDateTime::toInstant. Think of it conceptually as: ZonedDateTime = Instant + ZoneId.

Instant instant = zdtAuckland.toInstant() ;

All of these objects, the Instant and the three ZonedDateTime objects all represent the very same simultaneous moment, the same point in history.

Followed 3 different approaches (listed below) but all the 3 approaches retains the time in UTC only.

Forget about trying to fix code using those awful Date, Calendar, and GregorianCalendar classes. They are a wretched mess of bad design and flaws. You need never touch them again. If you must interface with old code not yet updated to java.time, you can convert back-and-forth via new conversion methods added to the old classes.

About java.time

The java.time framework is built into Java 8 and later. These classes supplant the troublesome old legacy date-time classes such as java.util.Date, Calendar, & SimpleDateFormat.

The Joda-Time project, now in maintenance mode, advises migration to the java.time classes.

To learn more, see the Oracle Tutorial. And search Stack Overflow for many examples and explanations. Specification is JSR 310.

You may exchange java.time objects directly with your database. Use a JDBC driver compliant with JDBC 4.2 or later. No need for strings, no need for java.sql.* classes.

Where to obtain the java.time classes?

The ThreeTen-Extra project extends java.time with additional classes. This project is a proving ground for possible future additions to java.time. You may find some useful classes here such as Interval, YearWeek, YearQuarter, and more.

how to setup ssh keys for jenkins to publish via ssh

For Windows:

  1. Install the necessary plugins for the repository (ex: GitHub install GitHub and GitHub Authentication plugins) in Jenkins.
  2. You can generate a key with Putty key generator, or by running the following command in git bash: $ ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 4096 -C [email protected]
  3. Private key must be OpenSSH. You can convert your private key to OpenSSH in putty key generator
  4. SSH keys come in pairs, public and private. Public keys are inserted in the repository to be cloned. Private keys are saved as credentials in Jenkins
  5. You need to copy the SSH URL not the HTTPS to work with ssh keys.

Best way to store time (hh:mm) in a database

If you are using MySQL use a field type of TIME and the associated functionality that comes with TIME.

00:00:00 is standard unix time format.

If you ever have to look back and review the tables by hand, integers can be more confusing than an actual time stamp.

Why does Google prepend while(1); to their JSON responses?

As this is a High traffic post i hope to provide here an answer slightly more undetermined to the original question and thus to provide further background on a JSON Hijacking attack and its consequences

JSON Hijacking as the name suggests is an attack similar to Cross-Site Request Forgery where an attacker can access cross-domain sensitive JSON data from applications that return sensitive data as array literals to GET requests. An example of a JSON call returning an array literal is shown below:

[{"id":"1001","ccnum":"4111111111111111","balance":"2345.15"},
{"id":"1002","ccnum":"5555555555554444","balance":"10345.00"},
{"id":"1003","ccnum":"5105105105105100","balance":"6250.50"}]

This attack can be achieved in 3 major steps:

Step 1: Get an authenticated user to visit a malicious page. Step 2: The malicious page will try and access sensitive data from the application that the user is logged into.This can be done by embedding a script tag in an HTML page since the same-origin policy does not apply to script tags.

<script src="http://<jsonsite>/json_server.php"></script>

The browser will make a GET request to json_server.php and any authentication cookies of the user will be sent along with the request. Step 3: At this point while the malicious site has executed the script it does not have access to any sensitive data. Getting access to the data can be achieved by using an object prototype setter. In the code below an object prototypes property is being bound to the defined function when an attempt is being made to set the "ccnum" property.

Object.prototype.__defineSetter__('ccnum',function(obj){

secrets =secrets.concat(" ", obj);

});

At this point the malicious site has successfully hijacked the sensitive financial data (ccnum) returned byjson_server.php JSON

It should be noted that not all browsers support this method; the proof of concept was done on Firefox 3.x.This method has now been deprecated and replaced by the useObject.defineProperty There is also a variation of this attack that should work on all browsers where full named JavaScript (e.g. pi=3.14159) is returned instead of a JSON array.

There are several ways in which JSON Hijacking can be prevented:

  • Since SCRIPT tags can only generate HTTP GET requests, only return JSON objects to POST requests.

  • Prevent the web browser from interpreting the JSON object as valid JavaScript code.

  • Implement Cross-Site Request Forgery protection by requiring that a predefined random value be required for all JSON requests.

so as you can see While(1) comes under the last option. In the most simple terms, while(1) is an infinite loop which will run till a break statement is issued explicitly. And thus what would be described as a lock for the key to be applied (google break statement). Therefore a JSON hijacking, in which the Hacker has no key will be consistently dismissed.Alas, If you read the JSON block with a parser, the while(1) loop is ignored.

So in conclusion, the while(1) loop can more easily visualised as a simple break statement cipher that google can use to control flow of data.

However the key word in that statement is the word 'simple'. The usage of authenticated infinite loops has been thankfully removed from basic practice in the years since 2010 due to its absolute decimation of CPU usage when isolated (and the fact the internet has moved away from forcing through crude 'quick-fixes'). Today instead the codebase has preventative measures embedded and the system is not crucial nor effective anymore. (part of this is the move away from JSON Hijacking to more fruitful datafarming techniques that i wont go into at present)

Click event on select option element in chrome

Maybe one of the new jquery versions supports the click event on options. It worked for me:

$(document).on("click","select option",function() {
  console.log("nice to meet you, console ;-)");
});

UPDATE: A possible usecase could be the following: A user sends a html form and the values are inserted into a database. However one or more values are set by default and you flag this automated entries. You also show the user that his entry is generated automatically, but if he confirm the entry by clicking on the already selected option you change the flag in the database. A rare sue case, but possible...

Excel: How to check if a cell is empty with VBA?

You could use IsEmpty() function like this:

...
Set rRng = Sheet1.Range("A10")
If IsEmpty(rRng.Value) Then ...

you could also use following:

If ActiveCell.Value = vbNullString Then ...

Colspan all columns

According to the specification colspan="0" should result in a table width td.

However, this is only true if your table has a width! A table may contain rows of different widths. So, the only case that the renderer knows the width of the table if you define a colgroup! Otherwise, result of colspan="0" is indeterminable...

http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/tables.html#adef-colspan

I cannot test it on older browsers, but this is part of specification since 4.0...

Well,

Just worked it out. While having both installations we have two ORACLE_HOME directories and both have SQAORA32.dll files. While looking up for ORACLE_HOMe my app was getting confused..I just removed the Client oracle home entry as oracle client is by default present in oracle DB Now its working...Thanks!!

How to set the authorization header using curl

Just adding so you don't have to click-through:

Renaming Column Names in Pandas Groupby function

For the first question I think answer would be:

<your DataFrame>.rename(columns={'count':'Total_Numbers'})

or

<your DataFrame>.columns = ['ID', 'Region', 'Total_Numbers']

As for second one I'd say the answer would be no. It's possible to use it like 'df.ID' because of python datamodel:

Attribute references are translated to lookups in this dictionary, e.g., m.x is equivalent to m.dict["x"]

Keep placeholder text in UITextField on input in IOS

Instead of using the placeholder text, you'll want to set the actual text property of the field to MM/YYYY, set the delegate of the text field and listen for this method:

- (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string {     // update the text of the label }

Inside that method, you can figure out what the user has typed as they type, which will allow you to update the label accordingly.

Create table (structure) from existing table

I needed to copy a table from one database another database. For anyone using a GUI like Sequel Ace you can right click table and click 'copy create table syntax' and run that query (you can edit the query, e.g. change table name, remove foreign keys, add/remove columns if desired)

Register 32 bit COM DLL to 64 bit Windows 7

I believe, things have changed now. On My Win 2008 R2 Box, I was able to register a 32 bit dll with a 64 bit regsvr32 as the 64 bit version can detect the target bitness and spawn a new 32 bit regsvr32 from %SYSWOW% folder.

How can I see what I am about to push with git?

Try git diff origin/master..master (assuming that origin/master is your upstream). Unlike git push --dry-run, this still works even if you don't have write permission to the upstream.

Pull is not possible because you have unmerged files, git stash doesn't work. Don't want to commit

I've had the same error and I solve it with: git merge -s recursive -X theirs origin/master

jQuery Popup Bubble/Tooltip

Sounds to me you dn't want the mouse over events: you want the jQuery hover() event.

And what you seem to want is a "rich" tooltip, in which case I suggest jQuery tooltip. With the bodyHandler option you can put arbitrary HTML in.

SQL Server Error : String or binary data would be truncated

this type of error generally occurs when you have to put characters or values more than that you have specified in Database table like in this case: you specify transaction_status varchar(10) but you actually trying to store
_transaction_status which contain 19 characters. that's why you faced this type of error in this code..

Adding attributes to an XML node

If you serialize the object that you have, you can do something like this by using "System.Xml.Serialization.XmlAttributeAttribute" on every property that you want to be specified as an attribute in your model, which in my opinion is a lot easier:

[System.Xml.Serialization.XmlTypeAttribute(AnonymousType = true)]
public class UserNode
{
    [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlAttributeAttribute()]
    public string userName { get; set; }

    [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlAttributeAttribute()]
    public string passWord { get; set; }

    public int Age { get; set; }
    public string Name { get; set; }
 }

 public class LoginNode
 {
    public UserNode id { get; set; }
 }

Then you just serialize to XML an instance of LoginNode called "Login", and that's it!

Here you have a few examples to serialize and object to XML, but I would suggest to create an extension method in order to be reusable for other objects.

Get index of clicked element in collection with jQuery

if you are using .bind(this), try this:

let index = Array.from(evt.target.parentElement.children).indexOf(evt.target);

$(this.pagination).find("a").on('click', function(evt) {
        let index = Array.from(evt.target.parentElement.children).indexOf(evt.target);

        this.goTo(index);
    }.bind(this))

Select all DIV text with single mouse click

For content editable stuff (not regular inputs, you need to use selectNodeContents (rather than just selectNode).

NOTE: All the references to "document.selection" and "createTextRange()" are for IE 8 and lower... You'll not likely need to support that monster if you're attempting to do tricky stuff like this.

function selectElemText(elem) {

    //Create a range (a range is a like the selection but invisible)
    var range = document.createRange();

    // Select the entire contents of the element
    range.selectNodeContents(elem);

    // Don't select, just positioning caret:
    // In front
    // range.collapse();
    // Behind:
    // range.collapse(false);

    // Get the selection object
    var selection = window.getSelection();

    // Remove any current selections
    selection.removeAllRanges();

    // Make the range you have just created the visible selection
    selection.addRange(range);

}

Count occurrences of a char in a string using Bash

awk works well if you your server has it

var="text,text,text,text"
num=$(echo "${var}" | awk -F, '{print NF-1}')
echo "${num}"

Count number of 1's in binary representation

Two ways::

/* Method-1 */
int count1s(long num)
{
    int tempCount = 0;

    while(num)
    {
        tempCount += (num & 1); //inc, based on right most bit checked
        num = num >> 1;         //right shift bit by 1
    }

    return tempCount;
}

/* Method-2 */
int count1s_(int num)
{
    int tempCount = 0;

    std::string strNum = std::bitset< 16 >( num ).to_string(); // string conversion
    cout << "strNum=" << strNum << endl;
    for(int i=0; i<strNum.size(); i++)
    {
        if('1' == strNum[i])
        {
            tempCount++;
        }
    }

    return tempCount;
}

/* Method-3 (algorithmically - boost string split could be used) */
1) split the binary string over '1'.
2) count = vector (containing splits) size - 1

Usage::

    int count = 0;

    count = count1s(0b00110011);
    cout << "count(0b00110011) = " << count << endl; //4

    count = count1s(0b01110110);
    cout << "count(0b01110110) = " << count << endl;  //5

    count = count1s(0b00000000);
    cout << "count(0b00000000) = " << count << endl;  //0

    count = count1s(0b11111111);
    cout << "count(0b11111111) = " << count << endl;  //8

    count = count1s_(0b1100);
    cout << "count(0b1100) = " << count << endl;  //2

    count = count1s_(0b11111111);
    cout << "count(0b11111111) = " << count << endl;  //8

    count = count1s_(0b0);
    cout << "count(0b0) = " << count << endl;  //0

Selenium C# WebDriver: Wait until element is present

If you get the same problem, restart your Visual Studio and ensure that all the exceptions are handled properly.

python pip - install from local dir

All you need to do is run

pip install /opt/mypackage

and pip will search /opt/mypackage for a setup.py, build a wheel, then install it.

The problem with using the -e flag for pip install as suggested in the comments and this answer is that this requires that the original source directory stay in place for as long as you want to use the module. It's great if you're a developer working on the source, but if you're just trying to install a package, it's the wrong choice.

Alternatively, you don't even need to download the repo from Github at all. pip supports installing directly from git repos using a variety of protocols including HTTP, HTTPS, and SSH, among others. See the docs I linked to for examples.

'workbooks.worksheets.activate' works, but '.select' does not

You can't select a sheet in a non-active workbook.

You must first activate the workbook, then you can select the sheet.

workbooks("A").activate
workbooks("A").worksheets("B").select

When you use Activate it automatically activates the workbook.

Note you can select >1 sheet in a workbook:

activeworkbook.sheets(array("sheet1","sheet3")).select

but only one sheet can be Active, and if you activate a sheet which is not part of a multi-sheet selection then those other sheets will become un-selected.

What are the differences between NP, NP-Complete and NP-Hard?

I think we can answer it much more succinctly. I answered a related question, and copying my answer from there

But first, an NP-hard problem is a problem for which we cannot prove that a polynomial time solution exists. NP-hardness of some "problem-P" is usually proven by converting an already proven NP-hard problem to the "problem-P" in polynomial time.

To answer the rest of question, you first need to understand which NP-hard problems are also NP-complete. If an NP-hard problem belongs to set NP, then it is NP-complete. To belong to set NP, a problem needs to be

(i) a decision problem,
(ii) the number of solutions to the problem should be finite and each solution should be of polynomial length, and
(iii) given a polynomial length solution, we should be able to say whether the answer to the problem is yes/no

Now, it is easy to see that there could be many NP-hard problems that do not belong to set NP and are harder to solve. As an intuitive example, the optimization-version of traveling salesman where we need to find an actual schedule is harder than the decision-version of traveling salesman where we just need to determine whether a schedule with length <= k exists or not.

How to get response as String using retrofit without using GSON or any other library in android

** Update ** A scalars converter has been added to retrofit that allows for a String response with less ceremony than my original answer below.

Example interface --

public interface GitHubService {
    @GET("/users/{user}")
    Call<String> listRepos(@Path("user") String user);
}

Add the ScalarsConverterFactory to your retrofit builder. Note: If using ScalarsConverterFactory and another factory, add the scalars factory first.

Retrofit retrofit = new Retrofit.Builder()
    .baseUrl(BASE_URL)
    .addConverterFactory(ScalarsConverterFactory.create())
    // add other factories here, if needed.
    .build();

You will also need to include the scalars converter in your gradle file --

implementation 'com.squareup.retrofit2:converter-scalars:2.1.0'

--- Original Answer (still works, just more code) ---

I agree with @CommonsWare that it seems a bit odd that you want to intercept the request to process the JSON yourself. Most of the time the POJO has all the data you need, so no need to mess around in JSONObject land. I suspect your specific problem might be better solved using a custom gson TypeAdapter or a retrofit Converter if you need to manipulate the JSON. However, retrofit provides more the just JSON parsing via Gson. It also manages a lot of the other tedious tasks involved in REST requests. Just because you don't want to use one of the features, doesn't mean you have to throw the whole thing out. There are times you just want to get the raw stream, so here is how to do it -

First, if you are using Retrofit 2, you should start using the Call API. Instead of sending an object to convert as the type parameter, use ResponseBody from okhttp --

public interface GitHubService {
    @GET("/users/{user}")
    Call<ResponseBody> listRepos(@Path("user") String user);
}

then you can create and execute your call --

GitHubService service = retrofit.create(GitHubService.class);
Call<ResponseBody> result = service.listRepos(username);
result.enqueue(new Callback<ResponseBody>() {
    @Override
    public void onResponse(Response<ResponseBody> response) {
        try {
            System.out.println(response.body().string());
        } catch (IOException e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }
    }

    @Override
    public void onFailure(Throwable t) {
        e.printStackTrace();
    }
});

Note The code above calls string() on the response object, which reads the entire response into a String. If you are passing the body off to something that can ingest streams, you can call charStream() instead. See the ResponseBody docs.

Google maps Marker Label with multiple characters

For anyone trying to

...in 2019, it's worth noting some of the code referenced here no longer exists (officially). Google discontinued support for the "MarkerWithLabel" project a long time ago. It was originally hosted on Google code here, now it's unofficially hosted on Github here.

But there is another project Google maintained until 2016, called "MapLabel"s. That approach is different (and arguably better). You create a separate map label object with the same origin as the marker instead of adding a mapLabel option to the marker itself. You can make a marker with label with multiple characters using js-marker-label.

Python - Convert a bytes array into JSON format

How can I make a program wait for a variable change in javascript?

The question was posted long time ago, many answers pool the target periodically and produces unnecessary waste of resources if the target is unchanged. In addition, most answers do not block the program while waiting for changes as required by the original post.

We can now apply a solution that is purely event-driven.

The solution uses onClick event to deliver event triggered by value change.

The solution can be run on modern browsers that support Promise and async/await. If you are using Node.js, consider EventEmitter as a better solution.

Finding multiple occurrences of a string within a string in Python

The following function finds all the occurrences of a string inside another while informing the position where each occurrence is found.

You can call the function using the test cases in the table below. You can try with words, spaces and numbers all mixed up.

The function works well with overlaping characteres.

|         theString          | aString |
| -------------------------- | ------- |
| "661444444423666455678966" |  "55"   |
| "661444444423666455678966" |  "44"   |
| "6123666455678966"         |  "666"  |
| "66123666455678966"        |  "66"   |

Calling examples:
1. print("Number of occurrences: ", find_all("123666455556785555966", "5555"))

How to validate numeric values which may contain dots or commas?

\d means a digit in most languages. You can also use [0-9] in all languages. For the "period or comma" use [\.,]. Depending on your language you may need more backslashes based on how you quote the expression. Ultimately, the regular expression engine needs to see a single backslash.

* means "zero-or-more", so \d* and [0-9]* mean "zero or more numbers". ? means "zero-or-one". Neither of those qualifiers means exactly one. Most languages also let you use {m,n} to mean "between m and n" (ie: {1,2} means "between 1 and 2")

Since the dot or comma and additional numbers are optional, you can put them in a group and use the ? quantifier to mean "zero-or-one" of that group.

Putting that all together you can use:

\d{1,2}([\.,][\d{1,2}])?

Meaning, one or two digits \d{1,2}, followed by zero-or-one of a group (...)? consisting of a dot or comma followed by one or two digits [\.,]\d{1,2}

Can we instantiate an abstract class directly?

According to others said, you cannot instantiate from abstract class. but it exist 2 way to use it. 1. make another non-abstact class that extends from abstract class. So you can instantiate from new class and use the attributes and methods in abstract class.

    public class MyCustomClass extends YourAbstractClass {

/// attributes, methods ,...
}
  1. work with interfaces.

Display a view from another controller in ASP.NET MVC

How can I extract audio from video with ffmpeg?

To encode mp3 audio ffmpeg.org shows the following example:

ffmpeg -i input.wav -codec:a libmp3lame -qscale:a 2 output.mp3

I extracted the audio from a video just by replacing input.wav with the video filename. The 2 means 190 kb/sec. You can see the other quality levels at my link above.

Find in Files: Search all code in Team Foundation Server

Okay,

  1. TFS2008 Power Tools do not have a find-in-files function. "The Find in Source Control tools provide the ability to locate files and folders in source control by the item’s status or with a wildcard expression."

  2. There is a Windows program with this functionality posted on CodePlex. I just installed and tested this and it works well.

Using a SELECT statement within a WHERE clause

It's called correlated subquery. It has it's uses.

select * from proposal where prop_start_dt = &PROPp_START_DT

How to find Port number of IP address?

Port numbers are defined by convention. HTTP servers generally listen on port 80, ssh servers listen on 22. But there are no requirements that they do.

Python: fastest way to create a list of n lists

The probably only way which is marginally faster than

d = [[] for x in xrange(n)]

is

from itertools import repeat
d = [[] for i in repeat(None, n)]

It does not have to create a new int object in every iteration and is about 15 % faster on my machine.

Edit: Using NumPy, you can avoid the Python loop using

d = numpy.empty((n, 0)).tolist()

but this is actually 2.5 times slower than the list comprehension.

Test process.env with Jest

You can use the setupFiles feature of the Jest configuration. As the documentation said that,

A list of paths to modules that run some code to configure or set up the testing environment. Each setupFile will be run once per test file. Since every test runs in its own environment, these scripts will be executed in the testing environment immediately before executing the test code itself.

  1. npm install dotenv dotenv that uses to access environment variable.

  2. Create your .env file to the root directory of your application and add this line into it:

    #.env
    APP_PORT=8080

  3. Create your custom module file as its name being someModuleForTest.js and add this line into it:

    // someModuleForTest.js
    require("dotenv").config()

  4. Update your jest.config.js file like this:

    module.exports = {
      setupFiles: ["./someModuleForTest"]
    }

  5. You can access an environment variable within all test blocks.

    test("Some test name", () => {
      expect(process.env.APP_PORT).toBe("8080")
    })

MySQL - Trigger for updating same table after insert

This is how I update a row in the same table on insert

activationCode and email are rows in the table USER. On insert I don't specify a value for activationCode, it will be created on the fly by MySQL.

Change username with your MySQL username and db_name with your db name.

How to re-sign the ipa file?

Fastlane's sigh provides a fairly robust solution for resigning IPAs.

From their README:

Resign

If you generated your ipa file but want to apply a different code signing onto the ipa file, you can use sigh resign:

fastlane sigh resign

sigh will find the ipa file and the provisioning profile for you if they are located in the current folder.

You can pass more information using the command line:

fastlane sigh resign ./path/app.ipa --signing_identity "iPhone Distribution: Felix Krause" -p "my.mobileprovision"

It will even handle provisioning profiles for nested applications (eg. if you have watchkit apps)

Enabling CORS in Cloud Functions for Firebase

I have a little addition to @Andreys answer to his own question.

It seems that you do not have to call the callback in the cors(req, res, cb) function, so you can just call the cors module at the top of your function, without embedding all your code in the callback. This is much quicker if you want to implement cors afterwards.

exports.exampleFunction = functions.https.onRequest((request, response) => {
    cors(request, response, () => {});
    return response.send("Hello from Firebase!");
});

Do not forget to init cors as mentioned in the opening post:

const cors = require('cors')({origin: true});

Word wrap for a label in Windows Forms

The simple answer for this problem is to change the DOCK property of the Label. It is "NONE" by default.

React-Router External link

I was able to achieve a redirect in react-router-dom using the following

<Route exact path="/" component={() => <Redirect to={{ pathname: '/YourRoute' }} />} />

For my case, I was looking for a way to redirect users whenever they visit the root URL http://myapp.com to somewhere else within the app http://myapp.com/newplace. so the above helped.

Angular redirect to login page

Please, do not override Router Outlet! It's a nightmare with latest router release (3.0 beta).

Instead use the interfaces CanActivate and CanDeactivate and set the class as canActivate / canDeactivate in your route definition.

Like that:

{ path: '', component: Component, canActivate: [AuthGuard] },

Class:

@Injectable()
export class AuthGuard implements CanActivate {

    constructor(protected router: Router, protected authService: AuthService)
    {

    }

    canActivate(route: ActivatedRouteSnapshot, state: RouterStateSnapshot): Observable<boolean> | boolean {

        if (state.url !== '/login' && !this.authService.isAuthenticated()) {
            this.router.navigate(['/login']);
            return false;
        }

        return true;
    }
}

What's the difference between Instant and LocalDateTime?

One main difference is the Local part of LocalDateTime. If you live in Germany and create a LocalDateTime instance and someone else lives in USA and creates another instance at the very same moment (provided the clocks are properly set) - the value of those objects would actually be different. This does not apply to Instant, which is calculated independently from time zone.

LocalDateTime stores date and time without timezone, but it's initial value is timezone dependent. Instant's is not.

Moreover, LocalDateTime provides methods for manipulating date components like days, hours, months. An Instant does not.

apart from the nanosecond precision advantage of Instant and the time-zone part of LocalDateTime

Both classes have the same precision. LocalDateTime does not store timezone. Read javadocs thoroughly, because you may make a big mistake with such invalid assumptions: Instant and LocalDateTime.

Setting device orientation in Swift iOS

enter image description here

Go to your pList and add or remove the following as per your requirement:

"Supported Interface Orientations" - Array
"Portrait (bottom home button)" - String
"Portrait (top home button)" - String
"Supported Interface Orientations (iPad)" - Array
"Portrait (bottom home button)" - String
"Portrait (top home button)" - String
"Landscape (left home button)" - String
"Landscape (right home button)" - String

Note: This method allows rotation for a entire app.

How do I get the current date and time in PHP?

Since PHP 5.2.0 you can use the DateTime() class:

use \Datetime;

$now = new DateTime();
echo $now->format('Y-m-d H:i:s');    // MySQL datetime format
echo $now->getTimestamp();           // Unix Timestamp -- Since PHP 5.3

And to specify the timezone:

$now = new DateTime(null, new DateTimeZone('America/New_York'));
$now->setTimezone(new DateTimeZone('Europe/London'));    // Another way
echo $now->getTimezone();

Applying Comic Sans Ms font style

The httpd dæmon on OpenBSD uses the following stylesheet for all of its error messages, which presumably covers all the Comic Sans variations on non-Windows systems:

http://openbsd.su/src/usr.sbin/httpd/server_http.c#server_abort_http

810    style = "body { background-color: white; color: black; font-family: "
811 "'Comic Sans MS', 'Chalkboard SE', 'Comic Neue', sans-serif; }\n"
812        "hr { border: 0; border-bottom: 1px dashed; }\n";

E.g., try this:

font-family: 'Comic Sans MS', 'Chalkboard SE', 'Comic Neue', sans-serif;

Get the item doubleclick event of listview

Either use the MouseDoubleClick event, and also, all the MouseClick events have a click count in the eventargs variable 'e'. So if e.ClickCount == 2, then doubleclicked.

How to enable MySQL Query Log?

I use this method for logging when I want to quickly optimize different page loads. It's a little tip...

Logging to a TABLE

SET global general_log = 1;
SET global log_output = 'table';

You can then select from my mysql.general_log table to retrieve recent queries.

I can then do something similar to tail -f on the mysql.log, but with more refinements...

select * from mysql.general_log
where  event_time  > (now() - INTERVAL 8 SECOND) and thread_id not in(9 , 628)
and argument <> "SELECT 1" and argument <> ""
and argument <> "SET NAMES 'UTF8'" and argument <> "SHOW STATUS"
and command_type = "Query"  and argument <> "SET PROFILING=1"

This makes it easy to see my queries that I can try and cut back. I use 8 seconds interval to only fetch queries executed within the last 8 seconds.

Show / hide div on click with CSS

This can be achieved by attaching a "tabindex" to an element. This will make that element "clickable". You can then use :focus to select your hidden div as follows...

_x000D_
_x000D_
.clicker {_x000D_
width:100px;_x000D_
height:100px;_x000D_
background-color:blue;_x000D_
outline:none;_x000D_
cursor:pointer;_x000D_
}_x000D_
_x000D_
.hiddendiv{_x000D_
display:none;_x000D_
height:200px;_x000D_
background-color:green;_x000D_
}_x000D_
_x000D_
.clicker:focus + .hiddendiv{_x000D_
display:block;_x000D_
}
_x000D_
<html>_x000D_
<head>_x000D_
</head>_x000D_
<body>_x000D_
_x000D_
<div>_x000D_
<div class="clicker" tabindex="1">Click me</div>_x000D_
<div class="hiddendiv"></div>_x000D_
</div>_x000D_
_x000D_
</body>_x000D_
_x000D_
</html>
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

The + selector will select the nearest element AFTER the "clicker" div. You can use other selectors but I believe there is no current way to select an element that is not a sibling or child.

Make text wrap in a cell with FPDF?

Text Wrap:

The MultiCell is used for print text with multiple lines. It has the same atributes of Cell except for ln and link.

$pdf->MultiCell( 200, 40, $reportSubtitle, 1);

Line Height:

What multiCell does is to spread the given text into multiple cells, this means that the second parameter defines the height of each line (individual cell) and not the height of all cells (collectively).

MultiCell(float w, float h, string txt [, mixed border [, string align [, boolean fill]]])

You can read the full documentation here.

How to disable RecyclerView scrolling?

Here is how I did it with data binding:

            <android.support.v7.widget.RecyclerView
                android:id="@+id/recycler_view"
                android:layout_width="match_parent"
                android:layout_height="match_parent"
                android:clipChildren="false"
                android:onTouch="@{(v,e) -> true}"/>

In place of the "true" I used a boolean variable that changed based on a condition so that the recycler view would switch between being disabled and enabled.

jQuery UI Dialog individual CSS styling

This issue turned up for me when I was trying to find a similar answer. Consider:

    $('.ui-dialog').wrap('<div class="abc" />');
    $('.ui-widget-overlay').wrap('<div class="abc" />');

Where abc is the name of your 'CSS wrapper' - see Stack Overflow question Custom CSS scope and jQuery UI dialog themes where I found the answer from Evgeni Nabokov. For more information on the CSS wrapper in use with a jQuery UI dialog box - see the following (but note they do NOT really solve the issue of the CSS wrapper with the dialog box - you need the above comments to help there, Using Multiple jQuery UI Themes on a Single Page (Filament blog).

map vs. hash_map in C++

Some of the key differences are in the complexity requirements.

  • A map requires O(log(N)) time for inserts and finds operations, as it's implemented as a Red-Black Tree data structure.

  • An unordered_map requires an 'average' time of O(1) for inserts and finds, but is allowed to have a worst-case time of O(N). This is because it's implemented using Hash Table data structure.

So, usually, unordered_map will be faster, but depending on the keys and the hash function you store, can become much worse.

Show and hide divs at a specific time interval using jQuery

Loop through divs every 10 seconds.

$(function () {

    var counter = 0,
        divs = $('#div1, #div2, #div3');

    function showDiv () {
        divs.hide() // hide all divs
            .filter(function (index) { return index == counter % 3; }) // figure out correct div to show
            .show('fast'); // and show it

        counter++;
    }; // function to loop through divs and show correct div

    showDiv(); // show first div

    setInterval(function () {
        showDiv(); // show next div
    }, 10 * 1000); // do this every 10 seconds

});

Copy output of a JavaScript variable to the clipboard

Very useful. I modified it to copy a JavaScript variable value to clipboard:

function copyToClipboard(val){
    var dummy = document.createElement("input");
    dummy.style.display = 'none';
    document.body.appendChild(dummy);

    dummy.setAttribute("id", "dummy_id");
    document.getElementById("dummy_id").value=val;
    dummy.select();
    document.execCommand("copy");
    document.body.removeChild(dummy);
}

Representing Directory & File Structure in Markdown Syntax

There is an NPM module for this:

npm dree

It allows you to have a representation of a directory tree as a string or an object. Using it with the command line will allow you to save the representation in a txt file.

Example:

$ npm dree parse myDirectory --dest ./generated --name tree

Create a new object from type parameter in generic class

All type information is erased in JavaScript side and therefore you can't new up T just like @Sohnee states, but I would prefer having typed parameter passed in to constructor:

class A {
}

class B<T> {
    Prop: T;
    constructor(TCreator: { new (): T; }) {
        this.Prop = new TCreator();
    }
}

var test = new B<A>(A);

Rails 3 execute custom sql query without a model

How about this :

@client = TinyTds::Client.new(
      :adapter => 'mysql2',
      :host => 'host',
      :database => 'siteconfig_development',
      :username => 'username',
      :password => 'password'

sql = "SELECT * FROM users"

result = @client.execute(sql)

results.each do |row|
puts row[0]
end

You need to have TinyTds gem installed, since you didn't specify it in your question I didn't use Active Record

Enzyme - How to access and set <input> value?

I use Wrapper's setValue[https://vue-test-utils.vuejs.org/api/wrapper/#setvalue-value] method to set value.

inputA = wrapper.findAll('input').at(0)
inputA.setValue('123456')

How to implement a Map with multiple keys?

Sounds like a Python tuple. Following in that spirit, you can create an immutable class of your own devising that implements Comparable and you'll have it.

How to apply style classes to td classes?

Give the table a class name and then you target the td's with the following:

table.classname td {
    font-size: 90%;
}

How can I safely create a nested directory?

You can use os.listdir for this:

if 'dirName' in os.listdir('parentFolderPath')
    print('Directory Exists')

Can't install Scipy through pip

Microsoft Windows users of 64 bit Python installations will need to download the 64 bit .whl of Scipy from here, then simply cd into the folder you've downloaded the .whl file and run:

pip install scipy-0.16.1-cp27-none-win_amd64.whl

Linux shell sort file according to the second column?

FWIW, here is a sort method for showing which processes are using the most virt memory.

memstat | sort -k 1 -t':' -g -r | less

Sort options are set to first column, using : as column seperator, numeric sort and sort in reverse.

How can I convert a .jar to an .exe?

Despite this being against the general SO policy on these matters, this seems to be what the OP genuinely wants:

http://www.google.com/search?btnG=1&pws=0&q=java+executable+wrapper

If you'd like, you could also try creating the appropriate batch or script file containing the single line:

java -jar MyJar.jar

Or in many cases on windows just double clicking the executable jar.

BigDecimal to string

// Convert BigDecimal number To String by using below method //

public static String RemoveTrailingZeros(BigDecimal tempDecimal)
{
    tempDecimal = tempDecimal.stripTrailingZeros();
    String tempString = tempDecimal.toPlainString();
    return tempString;
}

// Recall RemoveTrailingZeros
BigDecimal output = new BigDecimal(0);
String str = RemoveTrailingZeros(output);

Python Matplotlib figure title overlaps axes label when using twiny

I was having an issue with the x-label overlapping a subplot title; this worked for me:

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
fig, ax = plt.subplots(2, 1)
ax[0].scatter(...)
ax[1].scatter(...)
plt.tight_layout()
.

.
plt.show()

RESTful Authentication via Spring

You might consider Digest Access Authentication. Essentially the protocol is as follows:

  1. Request is made from client
  2. Server responds with a unique nonce string
  3. Client supplies a username and password (and some other values) md5 hashed with the nonce; this hash is known as HA1
  4. Server is then able to verify client's identity and serve up the requested materials
  5. Communication with the nonce can continue until the server supplies a new nonce (a counter is used to eliminate replay attacks)

All of this communication is made through headers, which, as jmort253 points out, is generally more secure than communicating sensitive material in the url parameters.

Digest Access Authentication is supported by Spring Security. Notice that, although the docs say that you must have access to your client's plain-text password, you can successfully authenticate if you have the HA1 hash for your client.

Trigger change event <select> using jquery

If you want to do some checks then use this way

 <select size="1" name="links" onchange="functionToTriggerClick(this.value)">
    <option value="">Select a Search Engine</option>
    <option value="http://www.google.com">Google</option>
    <option value="http://www.yahoo.com">Yahoo</option>
</select>

<script>

   function functionToTriggerClick(link) {

     if(link != ''){
        window.location.href=link;
        }
    }

</script>

Are Git forks actually Git clones?

Apart from the fact that cloning is from server to your machine and forking is making a copy on the server itself, an important difference is that when we clone, we actually get all the branches, labels, etc.

But when we fork, we actually only get the current files in the master branch, nothing other than that. This means we don't get the other branches, etc.

Hence if you have to merge something back to the original repository, it is a inter-repository merge and will definitely need higher privileges.

Fork is not a command in Git; it is just a concept which GitHub implements. Remember Git was designed to work in peer-to-peer environment without the need to synchronize stuff with any master copy. The server is just another peer, but we look at it as a master copy.

Interesting 'takes exactly 1 argument (2 given)' Python error

The call

e.extractAll("th")

for a regular method extractAll() is indeed equivalent to

Extractor.extractAll(e, "th")

These two calls are treated the same in all regards, including the error messages you get.

If you don't need to pass the instance to a method, you can use a staticmethod:

@staticmethod
def extractAll(tag):
    ...

which can be called as e.extractAll("th"). But I wonder why this is a method on a class at all if you don't need to access any instance.

A potentially dangerous Request.Path value was detected from the client (*)

For me, I am working on .net 4.5.2 with web api 2.0, I have the same error, i set it just by adding requestPathInvalidCharacters="" in the requestPathInvalidCharacters you have to set not allowed characters else you have to remove characters that cause this problem.

<system.web>
     <httpRuntime targetFramework="4.5.2" requestPathInvalidCharacters="" />
     <pages  >
      <namespaces>
     ....
 </namespaces>
    </pages>
  </system.web>

**Note that it is not a good practice, may be a post with this parameter as attribute of an object is better or try to encode the special character. -- After searching on best practice for designing rest api, i found that in search, sort and paginnation, we have to handle the query parameter like this

/companies?search=Digital%26Mckinsey

and this solve the problem when we encode & and remplace it on the url by %26 any way, on the server we receive the correct parameter Digital&Mckinsey

How to persist a property of type List<String> in JPA?

According to Java Persistence with Hibernate

mapping collections of value types with annotations [...]. At the time of writing it isn't part of the Java Persistence standard

If you were using Hibernate, you could do something like:

@org.hibernate.annotations.CollectionOfElements(
    targetElement = java.lang.String.class
)
@JoinTable(
    name = "foo",
    joinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "foo_id")
)
@org.hibernate.annotations.IndexColumn(
    name = "POSITION", base = 1
)
@Column(name = "baz", nullable = false)
private List<String> arguments = new ArrayList<String>();

Update: Note, this is now available in JPA2.

How can I write data in YAML format in a file?

Link to the PyYAML documentation showing the difference for the default_flow_style parameter. To write it to a file in block mode (often more readable):

d = {'A':'a', 'B':{'C':'c', 'D':'d', 'E':'e'}}
with open('result.yml', 'w') as yaml_file:
    yaml.dump(d, yaml_file, default_flow_style=False)

produces:

A: a
B:
  C: c
  D: d
  E: e

C# HttpWebRequest of type "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" - how to send '&' character in content body?

Since your content-type is application/x-www-form-urlencoded you'll need to encode the POST body, especially if it contains characters like & which have special meaning in a form.

Try passing your string through HttpUtility.UrlEncode before writing it to the request stream.

Here are a couple links for reference.

How to get the last N rows of a pandas DataFrame?

How to get the last N rows of a pandas DataFrame?

If you are slicing by position, __getitem__ (i.e., slicing with[]) works well, and is the most succinct solution I've found for this problem.

pd.__version__
# '0.24.2'

df = pd.DataFrame({'A': list('aaabbbbc'), 'B': np.arange(1, 9)})
df

   A  B
0  a  1
1  a  2
2  a  3
3  b  4
4  b  5
5  b  6
6  b  7
7  c  8

df[-3:]

   A  B
5  b  6
6  b  7
7  c  8

This is the same as calling df.iloc[-3:], for instance (iloc internally delegates to __getitem__).

As an aside, if you want to find the last N rows for each group, use groupby and GroupBy.tail:

df.groupby('A').tail(2)

   A  B
1  a  2
2  a  3
5  b  6
6  b  7
7  c  8

What exactly is the meaning of an API?

1) What is an API?

API is a contract. A promise to perform described services when asked in specific ways.

2) How is it used?

According to the rules specified in the contract. The whole point of an API is to define how it's used.

3) When and where is it used?

It's used when 2 or more separate systems need to work together to achieve something they can't do alone.

Razor Views not seeing System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper

You need to copy Views/Web.config to /Shared. This will tell Razor to use the MVC base type & parser. You can read more here: http://blog.slaks.net/2011/02/dissecting-razor-part-3-razor-and-mvc.html

What is the difference between os.path.basename() and os.path.dirname()?

To summarize what was mentioned by Breno above

Say you have a variable with a path to a file

path = '/home/User/Desktop/myfile.py'

os.path.basename(path) returns the string 'myfile.py'

and

os.path.dirname(path) returns the string '/home/User/Desktop' (without a trailing slash '/')

These functions are used when you have to get the filename/directory name given a full path name.

In case the file path is just the file name (e.g. instead of path = '/home/User/Desktop/myfile.py' you just have myfile.py), os.path.dirname(path) returns an empty string.

Setting environment variable in react-native?

In my opinion the best option is to use react-native-config. It supports 12 factor.

I found this package extremely useful. You can set multiple environments, e.g. development, staging, production.

In case of Android, variables are available also in Java classes, gradle, AndroidManifest.xml etc. In case of iOS, variables are available also in Obj-C classes, Info.plist.

You just create files like

  • .env.development
  • .env.staging
  • .env.production

You fill these files with key, values like

API_URL=https://myapi.com
GOOGLE_MAPS_API_KEY=abcdefgh

and then just use it:

import Config from 'react-native-config'

Config.API_URL  // 'https://myapi.com'
Config.GOOGLE_MAPS_API_KEY  // 'abcdefgh'

If you want to use different environments, you basically set ENVFILE variable like this:

ENVFILE=.env.staging react-native run-android

or for assembling app for production (android in my case):

cd android && ENVFILE=.env.production ./gradlew assembleRelease

How to prevent a click on a '#' link from jumping to top of page?

If the element doesn't have a meaningful href value, then it isn't really a link, so why not use some other element instead?

As suggested by Neothor, a span is just as appropriate and, if styled correctly, will be visibly obvious as an item that can be clicked on. You could even attach an hover event, to make the elemnt 'light up' as the user's mouse moves over it.

However, having said this, you may want to rethink the design of your site so that it functions without javascript, but is enhanced by javascript when it is available.

Does Visual Studio have code coverage for unit tests?

As already mentioned you can use Fine Code Coverage that visualize coverlet output. If you create a xunit test project (dotnet new xunit) you'll find coverlet reference already present in csproj file because Coverlet is the default coverage tool for every .NET Core and >= .NET 5 applications.

Microsoft has an example using ReportGenerator that converts coverage reports generated by coverlet, OpenCover, dotCover, Visual Studio, NCover, Cobertura, JaCoCo, Clover, gcov or lcov into human readable reports in various formats.

Example report:

enter image description here

While the article focuses on C# and xUnit as the test framework, both MSTest and NUnit would also work.

Guide:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/testing/unit-testing-code-coverage?tabs=windows#generate-reports

If you want code coverage in .xml files you can run any of these commands:

dotnet test --collect:"XPlat Code Coverage"

dotnet test /p:CollectCoverage=true /p:CoverletOutputFormat=cobertura

Select2 doesn't work when embedded in a bootstrap modal

i had this problem before , i am using yii2 and i solved it this way

$.fn.modal.Constructor.prototype.enforceFocus = $.noop;

Uploading file using POST request in Node.js

You can also use the "custom options" support from the request library. This format allows you to create a multi-part form upload, but with a combined entry for both the file and extra form information, like filename or content-type. I have found that some libraries expect to receive file uploads using this format, specifically libraries like multer.

This approach is officially documented in the forms section of the request docs - https://github.com/request/request#forms

//toUpload is the name of the input file: <input type="file" name="toUpload">

let fileToUpload = req.file;

let formData = {
    toUpload: {
      value: fs.createReadStream(path.join(__dirname, '..', '..','upload', fileToUpload.filename)),
      options: {
        filename: fileToUpload.originalname,
        contentType: fileToUpload.mimeType
      }
    }
  };
let options = {
    url: url,
    method: 'POST',
    formData: formData
  }
request(options, function (err, resp, body) {
    if (err)
      cb(err);

    if (!err && resp.statusCode == 200) {
      cb(null, body);
    }
  });

How to get the version of ionic framework?

You can find the library version accessing the file package.json. Under dependencies, check the property ionic-angular. You can also check the Ionic CLI version typing ionic info in the terminal from your project's folder.

How to find out client ID of component for ajax update/render? Cannot find component with expression "foo" referenced from "bar"

I know this already has a great answer by BalusC but here is a little trick I use to get the container to tell me the correct clientId.

  1. Remove the update on your component that is not working
  2. Put a temporary component with a bogus update within the component you were trying to update
  3. hit the page, the servlet exception error will tell you the correct client Id you need to reference.
  4. Remove bogus component and put correct clientId in the original update

Here is code example as my words may not describe it best.

<p:tabView id="tabs">
    <p:tab id="search" title="Search">
        <h:form id="insTable">
            <p:dataTable id="table" var="lndInstrument" value="#{instrumentBean.instruments}">
                <p:column>
                    <p:commandLink id="select"

Remove the failing update within this component

 oncomplete="dlg.show()">
                        <f:setPropertyActionListener value="#{lndInstrument}"
                                        target="#{instrumentBean.selectedInstrument}" />
                        <h:outputText value="#{lndInstrument.name}" />
                    </p:commandLink>
                </p:column>
            </p:dataTable>
            <p:dialog id="dlg" modal="true" widgetVar="dlg">
                <h:panelGrid id="display">

Add a component within the component of the id you are trying to update using an update that will fail

   <p:commandButton id="BogusButton" update="BogusUpdate"></p:commandButton>

                    <h:outputText value="Name:" />
                    <h:outputText value="#{instrumentBean.selectedInstrument.name}" />
                </h:panelGrid>
            </p:dialog>
        </h:form>
    </p:tab>
</p:tabView>

Hit this page and view the error. The error is: javax.servlet.ServletException: Cannot find component for expression "BogusUpdate" referenced from tabs:insTable: BogusButton

So the correct clientId to use would then be the bold plus the id of the target container (display in this case)

tabs:insTable:display

Remove all line breaks from a long string of text

Another option is regex:
