How to pass ArrayList<CustomeObject> from one activity to another?
You can pass an ArrayList<E>
the same way, if the E
type is Serializable
.
You would call the putExtra (String name, Serializable value)
of Intent
to store, and getSerializableExtra (String name)
for retrieval.
Example:
ArrayList<String> myList = new ArrayList<String>();
intent.putExtra("mylist", myList);
In the other Activity:
ArrayList<String> myList = (ArrayList<String>) getIntent().getSerializableExtra("mylist");
What is the difference between Serializable and Externalizable in Java?
https://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/platform/serialization/spec/serialTOC.html
Default serialization is somewhat verbose, and assumes the widest possible usage scenario of the serialized object, and accordingly the default format (Serializable) annotates the resultant stream with information about the class of the serialized object.
Externalization give the producer of the object stream complete control over the precise class meta-data (if any) beyond the minimal required identification of the class (e.g. its name). This is clearly desirable in certain situations, such as closed environments, where producer of the object stream and its consumer (which reifies the object from the stream) are matched, and additional metadata about the class serves no purpose and degrades performance.
Additionally (as Uri point out) externalization also provides for complete control over the encoding of the data in the stream corresponding to Java types. For (a contrived) example, you may wish to record boolean true as 'Y' and false as 'N'. Externalization allows you to do that.
What does it mean: The serializable class does not declare a static final serialVersionUID field?
Any class that can be serialized (i.e. implements Serializable
) should declare that UID and it must be changed whenever anything changes that affects the serialization (additional fields, removed fields, change of field order, ...). The field's value is checked during deserialization and if the value of the serialized object does not equal the value of the class in the current VM, an exception is thrown.
Note that this value is special in that it is serialized with the object even though it is static, for the reasons described above.
Android: Difference between Parcelable and Serializable?
I am late in answer, but posting with hope that it will help others.
In terms of Speed, Parcelable > Serializable
. But, Custom Serializable is exception. It is almost in range of Parcelable or even more faster.
Reference : https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/customized-serialization-and-deserialization-in-java/
Example :
Custom Class to be serialized
class MySerialized implements Serializable {
String deviceAddress = "MyAndroid-04";
transient String token = "AABCDS"; // sensitive information which I do not want to serialize
private void writeObject(ObjectOutputStream oos) throws Exception {
oos.defaultWriteObject();
oos.writeObject("111111" + token); // Encrypted token to be serialized
}
private void readObject(ObjectInputStream ois) throws Exception {
ois.defaultReadObject();
token = ((String) ois.readObject()).subString(6); // Decrypting token
}
}
What is a JavaBean exactly?
Regarding the second part of your question, serialization is a persistence mechanism used to store objects as a sequence of signed bytes. Put less formally, it stores the state of an object so you can retrieve it later, by deserialization.
Stacked Tabs in Bootstrap 3
Left, Right and Below tabs were removed from Bootstrap 3, but you can add custom CSS to achieve this..
.tabs-below > .nav-tabs,
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs,
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs {
border-bottom: 0;
}
.tab-content > .tab-pane,
.pill-content > .pill-pane {
display: none;
}
.tab-content > .active,
.pill-content > .active {
display: block;
}
.tabs-below > .nav-tabs {
border-top: 1px solid #ddd;
}
.tabs-below > .nav-tabs > li {
margin-top: -1px;
margin-bottom: 0;
}
.tabs-below > .nav-tabs > li > a {
-webkit-border-radius: 0 0 4px 4px;
-moz-border-radius: 0 0 4px 4px;
border-radius: 0 0 4px 4px;
}
.tabs-below > .nav-tabs > li > a:hover,
.tabs-below > .nav-tabs > li > a:focus {
border-top-color: #ddd;
border-bottom-color: transparent;
}
.tabs-below > .nav-tabs > .active > a,
.tabs-below > .nav-tabs > .active > a:hover,
.tabs-below > .nav-tabs > .active > a:focus {
border-color: transparent #ddd #ddd #ddd;
}
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs > li,
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs > li {
float: none;
}
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs > li > a,
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs > li > a {
min-width: 74px;
margin-right: 0;
margin-bottom: 3px;
}
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs {
float: left;
margin-right: 19px;
border-right: 1px solid #ddd;
}
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs > li > a {
margin-right: -1px;
-webkit-border-radius: 4px 0 0 4px;
-moz-border-radius: 4px 0 0 4px;
border-radius: 4px 0 0 4px;
}
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs > li > a:hover,
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs > li > a:focus {
border-color: #eeeeee #dddddd #eeeeee #eeeeee;
}
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs .active > a,
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs .active > a:hover,
.tabs-left > .nav-tabs .active > a:focus {
border-color: #ddd transparent #ddd #ddd;
*border-right-color: #ffffff;
}
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs {
float: right;
margin-left: 19px;
border-left: 1px solid #ddd;
}
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs > li > a {
margin-left: -1px;
-webkit-border-radius: 0 4px 4px 0;
-moz-border-radius: 0 4px 4px 0;
border-radius: 0 4px 4px 0;
}
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs > li > a:hover,
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs > li > a:focus {
border-color: #eeeeee #eeeeee #eeeeee #dddddd;
}
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs .active > a,
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs .active > a:hover,
.tabs-right > .nav-tabs .active > a:focus {
border-color: #ddd #ddd #ddd transparent;
*border-left-color: #ffffff;
}

UPDATE
If you don't need the exact look of a tab (bordered appropriately on the left or right as each tab is activated), you can simple use nav-stacked
, along with Bootstrap col-*
to float the tabs to the left or right...
nav-stacked
demo: http://codeply.com/go/rv3Cvr0lZ4
<ul class="nav nav-pills nav-stacked col-md-3">
<li><a href="#a" data-toggle="tab">1</a></li>
<li><a href="#b" data-toggle="tab">2</a></li>
<li><a href="#c" data-toggle="tab">3</a></li>
</ul>
Spring RestTemplate - how to enable full debugging/logging of requests/responses?
None of these answers actually solve 100% of the problem. mjj1409 gets most of it, but conveniently avoids the issue of logging the response, which takes a bit more work. Paul Sabou provides a solution that seems realistic, but doesn't provide enough details to actually implement (and it didn't work at all for me). Sofiene got the logging but with a critical problem: the response is no longer readable because the input stream has already been consumed!
I recommend using a BufferingClientHttpResponseWrapper to wrap the response object to allow reading the response body multiple times:
public class LoggingRequestInterceptor implements ClientHttpRequestInterceptor {
private static final Logger logger = LoggerFactory.getLogger(LoggingRequestInterceptor.class);
@Override
public ClientHttpResponse intercept(final HttpRequest request, final byte[] body,
final ClientHttpRequestExecution execution) throws IOException {
ClientHttpResponse response = execution.execute(request, body);
response = log(request, body, response);
return response;
}
private ClientHttpResponse log(final HttpRequest request, final byte[] body, final ClientHttpResponse response) {
final ClientHttpResponse responseCopy = new BufferingClientHttpResponseWrapper(response);
logger.debug("Method: ", request.getMethod().toString());
logger.debug("URI: ", , request.getURI().toString());
logger.debug("Request Body: " + new String(body));
logger.debug("Response body: " + IOUtils.toString(responseCopy.getBody()));
return responseCopy;
}
}
This will not consume the InputStream because the response body is loaded into memory and can be read multiple times. If you do not have the BufferingClientHttpResponseWrapper on your classpath, you can find the simple implementation here:
https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-android/blob/master/spring-android-rest-template/src/main/java/org/springframework/http/client/BufferingClientHttpResponseWrapper.java
For setting up the RestTemplate:
LoggingRequestInterceptor loggingInterceptor = new LoggingRequestInterceptor();
restTemplate.getInterceptors().add(loggingInterceptor);
git checkout all the files
Other way which I found useful is:
git checkout <wildcard>
Example:
git checkout *.html
More generally:
git checkout <branch> <filename/wildcard>
%i or %d to print integer in C using printf()?
both %d
and %i
can be used to print an integer
%d stands for "decimal", and %i for "integer." You can use %x to print in hexadecimal, and %o to print in octal.
You can use %i as a synonym for %d, if you prefer to indicate "integer" instead of "decimal."
On input, using scanf(), you can use use both %i and %d as well. %i means parse it as an integer in any base (octal, hexadecimal, or decimal, as indicated by a 0 or 0x prefix), while %d means parse it as a decimal integer.
check here for more explanation
why does %d stand for Integer?
Python xticks in subplots
There are two ways:
- Use the axes methods of the subplot object (e.g.
ax.set_xticks
and ax.set_xticklabels
) or
- Use
plt.sca
to set the current axes for the pyplot state machine (i.e. the plt
interface).
As an example (this also illustrates using setp
to change the properties of all of the subplots):
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
fig, axes = plt.subplots(nrows=3, ncols=4)
# Set the ticks and ticklabels for all axes
plt.setp(axes, xticks=[0.1, 0.5, 0.9], xticklabels=['a', 'b', 'c'],
yticks=[1, 2, 3])
# Use the pyplot interface to change just one subplot...
plt.sca(axes[1, 1])
plt.xticks(range(3), ['A', 'Big', 'Cat'], color='red')
fig.tight_layout()
plt.show()
Find row in datatable with specific id
Make a string criteria to search for, like this:
string searchExpression = "ID = 5"
Then use the .Select()
method of the DataTable
object, like this:
DataRow[] foundRows = YourDataTable.Select(searchExpression);
Now you can loop through the results, like this:
int numberOfCalls;
bool result;
foreach(DataRow dr in foundRows)
{
// Get value of Calls here
result = Int32.TryParse(dr["Calls"], out numberOfCalls);
// Optionally, you can check the result of the attempted try parse here
// and do something if you wish
if(result)
{
// Try parse to 32-bit integer worked
}
else
{
// Try parse to 32-bit integer failed
}
}
Lumen: get URL parameter in a Blade view
As per official documentation 8.x
We use the helper request
The request function returns the current request instance or obtains
an input field's value from the current request:
$request = request();
$value = request('key', $default);
the value of request is an array you can simply retrieve your input using the input key as follow
$id = request()->id; //for http://locahost:8000/example?id=10
indexOf and lastIndexOf in PHP?
You need the following functions to do this in PHP:
strpos
Find the position of the first occurrence of a substring in a string
strrpos
Find the position of the last occurrence of a substring in a string
substr
Return part of a string
Here's the signature of the substr
function:
string substr ( string $string , int $start [, int $length ] )
The signature of the substring
function (Java) looks a bit different:
string substring( int beginIndex, int endIndex )
substring
(Java) expects the end-index as the last parameter, but substr
(PHP) expects a length.
It's not hard, to get the desired length by the end-index in PHP:
$sub = substr($str, $start, $end - $start);
Here is the working code
$start = strpos($message, '-') + 1;
if ($req_type === 'RMT') {
$pt_password = substr($message, $start);
}
else {
$end = strrpos($message, '-');
$pt_password = substr($message, $start, $end - $start);
}
Should I use <i> tag for icons instead of <span>?
I also found this to be useful when i wanted to place an icon with absolute positioning inside a link <a>
tag.
I thought about the <img>
tag first, but default styling of those tags inside links typically have border styling and/or shadow effects. Plus, it feels wrong to use an <img>
tag without defining an "src" attribute whereas i'm using a background-image style sheet declaration so that the image doesn't ghost and drag.
At this point you're thinking of tags like <span>
or <i>
- in which case <i>
makes so much sense as this type of icon.
All in all i think its benefit besides being intuitive is that it requires minimal style sheet adjustments to make this tag work as an icon.
How to prevent going back to the previous activity?
There are two solutions for your case, activity A starts activity B, but you do not want to back to activity A in activity B.
1. Removed previous activity A from back stack.
Intent intent = new Intent(activityA.this, activityB.class);
startActivity(intent);
finish(); // Destroy activity A and not exist in Back stack
2. Disabled go back button action in activity B.
There are two ways to prevent go back event as below,
1) Recommend approach
@Override
public void onBackPressed() {
}
2)Override onKeyDown method
@Override
public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) {
if(keyCode==KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK) {
return false;
}
return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event);
}
Hope that it is useful, but still depends on your situations.
Calling a javascript function recursively
I know this is an old question, but I thought I'd present one more solution that could be used if you'd like to avoid using named function expressions. (Not saying you should or should not avoid them, just presenting another solution)
var fn = (function() {
var innerFn = function(counter) {
console.log(counter);
if(counter > 0) {
innerFn(counter-1);
}
};
return innerFn;
})();
console.log("running fn");
fn(3);
var copyFn = fn;
console.log("running copyFn");
copyFn(3);
fn = function() { console.log("done"); };
console.log("fn after reassignment");
fn(3);
console.log("copyFn after reassignment of fn");
copyFn(3);
Pseudo-terminal will not be allocated because stdin is not a terminal
I don't know where the hang comes from, but redirecting (or piping) commands into an interactive ssh is in general a recipe for problems. It is more robust to use the command-to-run-as-a-last-argument style and pass the script on the ssh command line:
ssh user@server 'DEP_ROOT="/home/matthewr/releases"
datestamp=$(date +%Y%m%d%H%M%S)
REL_DIR=$DEP_ROOT"/"$datestamp
if [ ! -d "$DEP_ROOT" ]; then
echo "creating the root directory"
mkdir $DEP_ROOT
fi
mkdir $REL_DIR'
(All in one giant '
-delimited multiline command-line argument).
The pseudo-terminal message is because of your -t
which asks ssh to try to make the environment it runs on the remote machine look like an actual terminal to the programs that run there. Your ssh client is refusing to do that because its own standard input is not a terminal, so it has no way to pass the special terminal APIs onwards from the remote machine to your actual terminal at the local end.
What were you trying to achieve with -t
anyway?
How do I display a ratio in Excel in the format A:B?
Below is the formula I use. I had a problem using GCD, because I use fairly large numbers to calculate the ratios from, and I found ratios such as "209:1024" to be less useful than simply rounding so it displays either "1:" or ":1". I also prefer not to use macros, if at all possible. Below is the result.
=IF(A1>B1,((ROUND(A1/B1,0))&":"&(B1/B1)),((A1/A1)&":"&(ROUND(B1/A1,0))))
Some of the formula is unnecessary (e.g., "A1/A1"), but I included it to show the logic behind it. Also, you can toggle how much rounding occurs by playing with the setting on each ROUND function.
Define preprocessor macro through CMake?
To do this for a specific target, you can do the following:
target_compile_definitions(my_target PRIVATE FOO=1 BAR=1)
You should do this if you have more than one target that you're building and you don't want them all to use the same flags. Also see the official documentation on target_compile_definitions.
Logical XOR operator in C++?
There is another way to do XOR:
bool XOR(bool a, bool b)
{
return (a + b) % 2;
}
Which obviously can be demonstrated to work via:
#include <iostream>
bool XOR(bool a, bool b)
{
return (a + b) % 2;
}
int main()
{
using namespace std;
cout << "XOR(true, true):\t" << XOR(true, true) << endl
<< "XOR(true, false):\t" << XOR(true, false) << endl
<< "XOR(false, true):\t" << XOR(false, true) << endl
<< "XOR(false, false):\t" << XOR(false, false) << endl
<< "XOR(0, 0):\t\t" << XOR(0, 0) << endl
<< "XOR(1, 0):\t\t" << XOR(1, 0) << endl
<< "XOR(5, 0):\t\t" << XOR(5, 0) << endl
<< "XOR(20, 0):\t\t" << XOR(20, 0) << endl
<< "XOR(6, 6):\t\t" << XOR(5, 5) << endl
<< "XOR(5, 6):\t\t" << XOR(5, 6) << endl
<< "XOR(1, 1):\t\t" << XOR(1, 1) << endl;
return 0;
}
Update all objects in a collection using LINQ
I assume you want to change values inside a query so you could write a function for it
void DoStuff()
{
Func<string, Foo, bool> test = (y, x) => { x.Bar = y; return true; };
List<Foo> mylist = new List<Foo>();
var v = from x in mylist
where test("value", x)
select x;
}
class Foo
{
string Bar { get; set; }
}
But not shure if this is what you mean.
Detailed 500 error message, ASP + IIS 7.5
TLDR:First determine where in the pipeline you're getting the error from (scroll looking for screenshots of something that resembles your error), make changes to get something new, repeat.
First determine what error message you are actually seeing.
If you are seeing the file located here...
%SystemDrive%\inetpub\custerr\\500.htm
...which generally looks like this:
...then you know you are seeing the currently configured error page in **IIS ** and you do NOT need to change the ASP.net customErrors setting, asp error detail setting, or "show friendly http errors" browser setting.
You may want to look at the above referenced path instead of trusting my screenshot just in case somebody changed it.
"Yes, I see the above described error..."
In this case, you are seeing the setting of <httpErrors> or in IIS Manager it's Error Pages --> Edit Feature Settings. The default for this is errorMode=DetailedLocalOnly at the server node level (as opposed to the site level) which means that while you will see this configured error page while remote, you should be able to log on locally to the server and see the full error which should look something like this:
You should have everything that you need at that point to fix the current error.
"But I don't see the detailed error even browsing on the server"
That leaves a couple of possibilities.
- The browser you are using on the server is configured to use a proxy
in its connection settings so it is not being seen as "local".
- You're not actually browsing to the site you think you are browsing to - this commonly happens when there's a load balancer involved. Do a ping check to see if dns gives you an IP on the server or somewhere else.
- You're site's httpErrors settings is set for "Custom" only. Change it to "DetailedLocalOnly". However, if you have a configuration error, this may not work since the site level httpErrors is also a configuration item. In that case proceed to #4
- The default for httpErrors for all sites is set for "Custom". In this case you need to click on the top level server node in IIS Manager (and not a particular site) and change the httpErrors settings there to DetailedLocalOnly. If this is an internal server and you're not worried about divulging sensitive information, you could also set it to "Detailed" which will allow you to see the error from clients other than the server.
- You're missing a module on the server like UrlRewrite (this one bites me a lot, and it often gives the generic message regardless of the httpErrors settings).
"Logging on to the server is not an option for me"
Change your site's httpErrors to "Detailed" so you can see it remotely. But if it doesn't work your error might already be a config error, see #3 immediately above. So you might be stuck with #4 or #5 and you're going to need somebody from your server team.
"I'm not seeing the error page described above. I'm seeing something different"
If you see this...
...and you expect to see something like this...
...then you need to change "Send errors to browser" to true in IIS Manager, under Site --> IIS --> ASP --> Debugging Properties
If you see this...
or this...
...you need to disable friendly errors in your browser or use fiddler's webview to look at the actual response vs what your browser chooses to show you.
If you see this...
...then custom errors is working but you don't have a custom error page (of course at this point were talking about .net and not classic asp). You need to change your customErrors tag in your web.config to RemoteOnly to view on the server, or Off to view remotely.
If you see something that is styled like your site, then custom errors is likely On or RemoteOnly and it's displaying the custom page (Views->Shared->Error.cshtml in MVC for example). That said, it is unlikely but possible that somebody changed the pages in IIS for httpErrors so see the first section on that.
Putting a password to a user in PhpMyAdmin in Wamp
There is a file called config.inc.php in the phpmyadmin folder.
The file path is C:\wamp\apps\phpmyadmin4.0.4
Edit The auth_type 'cookie' to 'config' or 'http'
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'cookie';
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'config';
or
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'http';
When you go to the phpmyadmin site then you will be asked for the username and password. This also secure external people from accessing your phpmyadmin application if you happen to have your web server exposed to outside connections.
CSS transition effect makes image blurry / moves image 1px, in Chrome?
I had a similar problem with blurry text but only the succeeding div was affected. For some reason the next div after the one that I was doing the transform in was blurry.
I tried everything that is recommended in this thread but nothing worked.
For me rearranging my divs worked. I moved the div that blurres the following div to the end of parents div.
If someone know why just let me know.
#before
<header class="container">
<div class="transformed div">
<span class="transform wrapper">
<span class="transformed"></span>
<span class="transformed"></span>
</span>
</div>
<div class="affected div">
</div>
</header>
#after
<header class="container">
<div class="affected div">
</div>
<div class="transformed div">
<span class="transform wrapper">
<span class="transformed"></span>
<span class="transformed"></span>
</span>
</div>
</header>
Angular2 Material Dialog css, dialog size
I think you need to use /deep/
, because your CSS may not see your modal class. For example, if you want to customize .modal-dialog
/deep/.modal-dialog {
width: 75% !important;
}
But this code will modify all your modal-windows, better solution will be
:host {
/deep/.modal-dialog {
width: 75% !important;
}
}
Converting a vector<int> to string
Here is an alternative which uses a custom output iterator. This example behaves correctly for the case of an empty list. This example demonstrates how to create a custom output iterator, similar to std::ostream_iterator
.
#include <iterator>
#include <vector>
#include <iostream>
#include <sstream>
struct CommaIterator
:
public std::iterator<std::output_iterator_tag, void, void, void, void>
{
std::ostream *os;
std::string comma;
bool first;
CommaIterator(std::ostream& os, const std::string& comma)
:
os(&os), comma(comma), first(true)
{
}
CommaIterator& operator++() { return *this; }
CommaIterator& operator++(int) { return *this; }
CommaIterator& operator*() { return *this; }
template <class T>
CommaIterator& operator=(const T& t) {
if(first)
first = false;
else
*os << comma;
*os << t;
return *this;
}
};
int main () {
// The vector to convert
std::vector<int> v(3,3);
// Convert vector to string
std::ostringstream oss;
std::copy(v.begin(), v.end(), CommaIterator(oss, ","));
std::string result = oss.str();
const char *c_result = result.c_str();
// Display the result;
std::cout << c_result << "\n";
}
Bootstrap fixed header and footer with scrolling body-content area in fluid-container
Another option would be using flexbox.
While it's not supported by IE8 and IE9, you could consider:
- Not minding about those old IE versions
- Providing a fallback
- Using a polyfill
Despite some additional browser-specific style prefixing would be necessary for full cross-browser support, you can see the basic usage either on this fiddle and on the following snippet:

return (this.length > max ? this.substring(0,max)+add : this);
};
Usage:
str = "testing with some string see console output";
//By prototype:
console.log( str.truncString(15,'...') );
//By function call:
console.log( truncString(str,15,'...') );
ComboBox: Adding Text and Value to an Item (no Binding Source)
This is how Visual Studio 2013 does it:
Single item:
comboBox1->Items->AddRange(gcnew cli::array< System::Object^ >(1) { L"Combo Item 1" });
Multiple Items:
comboBox1->Items->AddRange(gcnew cli::array< System::Object^ >(3)
{
L"Combo Item 1",
L"Combo Item 2",
L"Combo Item 3"
});
No need to do class overrides or include anything else. And yes the comboBox1->SelectedItem
and comboBox1->SelectedIndex
calls still work.
What does ||= (or-equals) mean in Ruby?
As a common misconception, a ||= b
is not equivalent to a = a || b
, but it behaves like a || a = b
.
But here comes a tricky case. If a
is not defined, a || a = 42
raises NameError
, while a ||= 42
returns 42
. So, they don't seem to be equivalent expressions.
Convert javascript array to string
jQuery.each
is just looping over the array, it doesn't do anything with the return value?. You are looking for jQuery.map
(I also think that get()
is unnecessary as you are not dealing with jQuery objects):
var blkstr = $.map(value, function(val,index) {
var str = index + ":" + val;
return str;
}).join(", ");
DEMO
But why use jQuery at all in this case? map
only introduces an unnecessary function call per element.
var values = [];
for(var i = 0, l = value.length; i < l; i++) {
values.push(i + ':' + value[i]);
}
// or if you actually have an object:
for(var id in value) {
if(value.hasOwnProperty(id)) {
values.push(id + ':' + value[id]);
}
}
var blkstr = values.join(', ');
?: It only uses the return value whether it should continue to loop over the elements or not. Returning a "falsy" value will stop the loop.
How do you change Background for a Button MouseOver in WPF?
All of the answers so far involve completely replacing the default button behavior with something else. However, IMHO it is useful and important to understand that it's possible to change just the part you care about, by editing the existing, default template for a XAML element.
In the case of dealing with the hover effect on a WPF button, the change in appearance in a WPF Button
element is caused by a Trigger
in the default style for the Button
, which is based on the IsMouseOver
property and sets the Background
and BorderBrush
properties of the top-level Border
element in the control template. The Button
element's background is underneath the Border
element's background, so changing the Button.Background
property doesn't prevent the hover effect from being seen.
With some effort, you could override this behavior with your own setter, but because the element you need to affect is in the template and not directly accessible in your own XAML, that approach would be difficult and IMHO overly complex.
Another option would be to make use the graphic as the Content
for the Button
rather than the Background
. If you need additional content over the graphic, you can combine them with a Grid
as the top-level object in the content.
However, if you literally just want to disable the hover effect entirely (rather than just hiding it), you can use the Visual Studio XAML Designer:
- While editing your XAML, select the "Design" tab.
- In the "Design" tab, find the button for which you want to disable the effect.
- Right-click that button, and choose "Edit Template/Edit a Copy...". Select in the prompt you get where you want the new template resource to be placed. This will appear to do nothing, but in fact the Designer will have added new resources where you told it, and changed your button element to reference the style that uses those resources as the button template.
- Now, you can go edit that style. The easiest thing is to delete or comment-out (e.g. Ctrl+E, C) the
<Trigger Property="IsMouseOver" Value="true">...</Trigger>
element. Of course, you can make any change to the template you want at that point.
When you're done, the button style will look something like this:
<p:Style x:Key="FocusVisual">
<Setter Property="Control.Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate>
<Rectangle Margin="2" SnapsToDevicePixels="true" Stroke="{DynamicResource {x:Static SystemColors.ControlTextBrushKey}}" StrokeThickness="1" StrokeDashArray="1 2"/>

XML namespace qualifications in the actual code…I provide them here only because the Stack Overflow XML code formatter gets confused by <Style/>
elements that don't have a fully-qualified name with XML namespace.)
If you want to apply the same style to other buttons, you can just right-click them and choose "Edit Template/Apply Resource" and select the style you just added for the first button. You can even make that style the default style for all buttons, using the normal techniques for applying a default style to elements in XAML.

Execute an action when an item on the combobox is selected
The simple solution would be to use a ItemListener
. When the state changes, you would simply check the currently selected item and set the text accordingly
import java.awt.BorderLayout;
import java.awt.EventQueue;
import java.awt.event.ItemEvent;
import java.awt.event.ItemListener;
import javax.swing.JComboBox;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JPanel;
import javax.swing.JTextField;
import javax.swing.UIManager;
import javax.swing.UnsupportedLookAndFeelException;
public class TestComboBox06 {
public static void main(String[] args) {
new TestComboBox06();
}
public TestComboBox06() {
EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
@Override
public void run() {
try {
UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
} catch (ClassNotFoundException ex) {
} catch (InstantiationException ex) {
} catch (IllegalAccessException ex) {
} catch (UnsupportedLookAndFeelException ex) {
}
JFrame frame = new JFrame("Test");
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
frame.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
frame.add(new TestPane());
frame.pack();
frame.setLocationRelativeTo(null);
frame.setVisible(true);
}
});
}
public class TestPane extends JPanel {
private JComboBox cb;
private JTextField field;
public TestPane() {
cb = new JComboBox(new String[]{"Item 1", "Item 2"});
field = new JTextField(12);
add(cb);
add(field);
cb.setSelectedItem(null);
cb.addItemListener(new ItemListener() {
@Override
public void itemStateChanged(ItemEvent e) {
Object item = cb.getSelectedItem();
if ("Item 1".equals(item)) {
field.setText("20");
} else if ("Item 2".equals(item)) {
field.setText("30");
}
}
});
}
}
}
A better solution would be to create a custom object that represents the value to be displayed and the value associated with it...

Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1 Incorrect syntax near ' '
For the OP's command:
select compid,2, convert(datetime, '01/01/' + CONVERT(char(4),cal_yr) ,101) ,0, Update_dt, th1, th2, th3_pc , Update_id, Update_dt,1
from #tmp_CTF**
I get this error:
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 2
Incorrect syntax near '*'.
when debugging something like this split the long line up so you'll get a better row number:
select compid
,2
, convert(datetime
, '01/01/'
+ CONVERT(char(4)
,cal_yr)
,101)
,0
, Update_dt
, th1
, th2
, th3_pc
, Update_id
, Update_dt
,1
from #tmp_CTF**
this now results in:
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 16
Incorrect syntax near '*'.
which is probably just from the OP not putting the entire command in the question, or use [ ] braces to signify the table name:
from [#tmp_CTF**]
if that is the table name.
How can I pretty-print JSON using Go?
For better memory usage, I guess this is better:

enc.SetIndent("", " ")
if err := enc.Encode(data); err != nil {
panic(err)
}
C++ - Decimal to binary converting
std::bitset
has a .to_string()
method that returns a std::string
holding a text representation in binary, with leading-zero padding.
Choose the width of the bitset as needed for your data, e.g. std::bitset<32>
to get 32-character strings from 32-bit integers.
#include <iostream>
#include <bitset>
int main()
{
std::string binary = std::bitset<8>(128).to_string(); //to binary
std::cout<<binary<<"\n";
unsigned long decimal = std::bitset<8>(binary).to_ulong();
std::cout<<decimal<<"\n";
return 0;
}
EDIT: Please do not edit my answer for Octal and Hexadecimal. The OP specifically asked for Decimal To Binary.
How to select all checkboxes with jQuery?
Top answer will not work in Jquery 1.9+ because of attr() method. Use prop() instead:
$(function() {
$('#select_all').change(function(){
var checkboxes = $(this).closest('form').find(':checkbox');
if($(this).prop('checked')) {
checkboxes.prop('checked', true);
} else {
checkboxes.prop('checked', false);
}
});
});
CSS transition fade in
I always prefer to use mixins for small CSS classes like fade in / out incase you want to use them in more than one class.
@mixin fade-in {
opacity: 1;
animation-name: fadeInOpacity;
animation-iteration-count: 1;
animation-timing-function: ease-in;
animation-duration: 2s;
}
@keyframes fadeInOpacity {
0% {
opacity: 0;
}
100% {
opacity: 1;
}
}
and if you don't want to use mixins, you can create a normal class .fade-in.
What are the uses of the exec command in shell scripts?
Just to augment the accepted answer with a brief newbie-friendly short answer, you probably don't need exec
.
If you're still here, the following discussion should hopefully reveal why. When you run, say,
sh -c 'command'
you run a sh
instance, then start command
as a child of that sh
instance. When command
finishes, the sh
instance also finishes.
sh -c 'exec command'
runs a sh
instance, then replaces that sh
instance with the command
binary, and runs that instead.
Of course, both of these are useless in this limited context; you simply want
command
There are some fringe situations where you want the shell to read its configuration file or somehow otherwise set up the environment as a preparation for running command
. This is pretty much the sole situation where exec command
is useful.
#!/bin/sh
ENVIRONMENT=$(some complex task)
exec command
This does some stuff to prepare the environment so that it contains what is needed. Once that's done, the sh
instance is no longer necessary, and so it's a (minor) optimization to simply replace the sh
instance with the command
process, rather than have sh
run it as a child process and wait for it, then exit as soon as it finishes.
Similarly, if you want to free up as much resources as possible for a heavyish command at the end of a shell script, you might want to exec
that command as an optimization.
If something forces you to run sh
but you really wanted to run something else, exec something else
is of course a workaround to replace the undesired sh
instance (like for example if you really wanted to run your own spiffy gosh
instead of sh
but yours isn't listed in /etc/shells
so you can't specify it as your login shell).
The second use of exec
to manipulate file descriptors is a separate topic. The accepted answer covers that nicely; to keep this self-contained, I'll just defer to the manual for anything where exec
is followed by a redirect instead of a command name.
Spring,Request method 'POST' not supported
I had csrf enabled in my sprint security xml file, so I just added one line in the form:

Looping each row in datagridview
Best aproach for me was:
private void grid_receptie_CellFormatting(object sender, DataGridViewCellFormattingEventArgs e)

int X = 1;
foreach(DataGridViewRow row in grid_receptie.Rows)
{
row.Cells["NR_CRT"].Value = X;
X++;
}
}

How to add comments into a Xaml file in WPF?
Found a nice solution by Laurent Bugnion, it can look something like this:
<UserControl xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006"
xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008"
xmlns:comment="Tag to add comments"
mc:Ignorable="d comment" d:DesignHeight="300" d:DesignWidth="300">
<Grid>
<Button Width="100"
comment:Width="example comment on Width, will be ignored......">
</Button>
</Grid>
</UserControl>
Here's the link:
http://blog.galasoft.ch/posts/2010/02/quick-tip-commenting-out-properties-in-xaml/
A commenter on the link provided extra characters for the ignore prefix in lieu of highlighting:
mc:Ignorable=”ØignoreØ”
How to use jQuery with Angular?
A simple way:

How to use multiple conditions (With AND) in IIF expressions in ssrs
You don't need an IIF() at all here. The comparisons return true or false anyway.
Also, since this row visibility is on a group row, make sure you use the same aggregate function on the fields as you use in the fields in the row. So if your group row shows sums, then you'd put this in the Hidden property.
=Sum(Fields!OpeningStock.Value) = 0 And
Sum(Fields!GrossDispatched.Value) = 0 And
Sum(Fields!TransferOutToMW.Value) = 0 And
Sum(Fields!TransferOutToDW.Value) = 0 And
Sum(Fields!TransferOutToOW.Value) = 0 And
Sum(Fields!NetDispatched.Value) = 0 And
Sum(Fields!QtySold.Value) = 0 And
Sum(Fields!StockAdjustment.Value) = 0 And
Sum(Fields!ClosingStock.Value) = 0
But with the above version, if one record has value 1 and one has value -1 and all others are zero then sum is also zero and the row could be hidden. If that's not what you want you could write a more complex expression:
=Sum(
IIF(
Fields!OpeningStock.Value=0 AND
Fields!GrossDispatched.Value=0 AND
Fields!TransferOutToMW.Value=0 AND
Fields!TransferOutToDW.Value=0 AND
Fields!TransferOutToOW.Value=0 AND
Fields!NetDispatched.Value=0 AND
Fields!QtySold.Value=0 AND
Fields!StockAdjustment.Value=0 AND
Fields!ClosingStock.Value=0,
0,
1
)
) = 0
This is essentially a fancy way of counting the number of rows in which any field is not zero. If every field is zero for every row in the group then the expression returns true and the row is hidden.
C++ inheritance - inaccessible base?
You have to do this:
class Bar : public Foo
{
// ...
}
The default inheritance type of a class
in C++ is private
, so any public
and protected
members from the base class are limited to private
. struct
inheritance on the other hand is public
by default.
How to make canvas responsive
You can have a responsive canvas in 3 short and simple steps:
Remove the width
and height
attributes from your <canvas>
.
<canvas id="responsive-canvas"></canvas>
Using CSS, set the width
of your canvas to 100%
.
#responsive-canvas {
width: 100%;
}
Using JavaScript, set the height to some ratio of the width.
var canvas = document.getElementById('responsive-canvas');
var heightRatio = 1.5;
canvas.height = canvas.width * heightRatio;
How can I get the length of text entered in a textbox using jQuery?
If your textbox has an id attribute of "mytextbox", then you can get the length like this:
var myLength = $("#mytextbox").val().length;
$("#mytextbox")
finds the textbox by its id.
.val()
gets the value of the input element entered by the user, which is a string.
.length
gets the number of characters in the string.
How to append one file to another in Linux from the shell?
Another solution:
cat file1 | tee -a file2
tee
has the benefit that you can append to as many files as you like, for example:
cat file1 | tee -a file2 file3 file3
will append the contents of file1
to file2
, file3
and file4
.
From the man page:
-a, --append
append to the given FILEs, do not overwrite

Read a text file line by line in Qt
Here's the example from my code. So I will read a text from 1st line to 3rd line using readLine() and then store to array variable and print into textfield using for-loop :

if(!file.open(QIODevice::ReadOnly | QIODevice::Text))
return;
QTextStream in(&file);
QString line[3] = in.readLine();
for(int i=0; i<3; i++)

AWS Lambda functions
Use mysql.createPool() with connection.destroy()
This way, new invocations use the established pool, but don't keep the function running. Even though you don't get the full benefit of pooling (each new connection uses a new connection instead of an existing one), it makes it so that a second invocation can establish a new connection without the previous one having to be closed first.
Regarding connection.end()
This can cause a subsequent invocation to throw an error. The invocation will still retry later and work, but with a delay.
Regarding mysql.createPool()
with connection.release()
The Lambda function will keep running until the scheduled timeout, as there is still an open connection.
Code example
const mysql = require('mysql');
const pool = mysql.createPool({
connectionLimit: 100,
host: process.env.DATABASE_HOST,
user: process.env.DATABASE_USER,
password: process.env.DATABASE_PASSWORD,
});
exports.handler = (event) => {
pool.getConnection((error, connection) => {
if (error) throw error;
connection.query(`
INSERT INTO table_name (event) VALUES ('${event}')
`, function(error, results, fields) {
if (error) throw error;
connection.destroy();
});
});
};
Get generic type of class at runtime
Here is working solution!!!
@SuppressWarnings("unchecked")
private Class<T> getGenericTypeClass() {
try {
String className = ((ParameterizedType) getClass().getGenericSuperclass()).getActualTypeArguments()[0].getTypeName();
Class<?> clazz = Class.forName(className);
return (Class<T>) clazz;
} catch (Exception e) {
throw new IllegalStateException("Class is not parametrized with generic type!!! Please use extends <> ");
}
}
NOTES:
Can be used only as superclass
1. Has to be extended with typed class (Child extends Generic<Integer>
)
OR
2. Has to be created as anonymous implementation (new Generic<Integer>() {};
)
Declaring multiple variables in JavaScript
Maybe like this
var variable1 = "Hello, World!"

, variable4 = 42;
Except when changing the first or last variable, it is easy to maintain and read.

In Sublime Text, after you select multiple regions of text, a click is considered a way to exit the multi-select mode. Move the cursor with the keyboard keys (arrows, Ctrl+arrows, etc.) instead, and you'll be fine
What does the term "Tuple" Mean in Relational Databases?
As I understand it a table has a set K of keys and a typing function T with domain K. A row, or "tuple", of the table is a function r with domain K such that r(k) is an element of T(k) for each key k. So the terminology is misleading in that a "tuple" is really more like an associative array.
EF LINQ include multiple and nested entities
One may write an extension method like this:
/// <summary>
/// Includes an array of navigation properties for the specified query
/// </summary>
/// <typeparam name="T">The type of the entity</typeparam>
/// <param name="query">The query to include navigation properties for that</param>
/// <param name="navProperties">The array of navigation properties to include</param>
/// <returns></returns>
public static IQueryable<T> Include<T>(this IQueryable<T> query, params string[] navProperties)
where T : class
{
foreach (var navProperty in navProperties)
query = query.Include(navProperty);
return query;
}
And use it like this even in a generic implementation:
string[] includedNavigationProperties = new string[] { "NavProp1.SubNavProp", "NavProp2" };
var query = context.Set<T>()
.Include(includedNavigationProperties);
For div to extend full height
This might be of some help: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum83/200.htm
A relevant quote:
Most attempts to accomplish this were made by assigning the property and value:
div{height:100%} - this alone will not work. The reason is that without a parent defined
height, the div{height:100%;} has nothing to factor 100% percent of, and will default to a
value of div{height:auto;} - auto is an "as needed value" which is governed by the actual
content, so that the div{height:100%} will a=only extend as far as the content demands.
The solution to the problem is found by assigning a height value to the parent container,
in this case, the body element. Writing your body stlye to include height 100% supplies
the needed value.
html, body {
margin:0;
padding:0;
height:100%;
}

Difference between window.location.href and top.location.href
The first one adds an item to your history in that you can (or should be able to) click "Back" and go back to the current page.
The second replaces the current history item so you can't go back to it.
See window.location
:
assign(url)
: Load the document at the provided URL.
replace(url)
: Replace the current document with the one at the provided URL. The difference from the assign()
method is that after using replace()
the current page will not be saved in session history, meaning the user won't be able to use the Back button to navigate to it.
window.location.href = url;
is favoured over:
window.location = url;
Can't create project on Netbeans 8.2
Faced same issue with jdk 10. While installing netbeans prompted for jdk default location was taken as jdk 10. This was the issue, it should be jdk8 (1.8).
- Close Netbeans
- Open below file
C:\Program Files\NetBeans 8.2\etc\netbeans.conf
- Comment jdkhome line jdk9 or jdk10 with # sign:
# netbeans_jdkhome="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk-10.0.1"
- Add new jdkhome line for jdk8:
netbeans_jdkhome="C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_171"
- Start Netbeans
Note: If the above .conf file is not editable, then use Administrator mode. I use Notepad++, it prompted for restarting Notepad++ in Administrator mode, then save worked fine.
access key and value of object using *ngFor
Update
In 6.1.0-beta.1 KeyValuePipe was introduced https://github.com/angular/angular/pull/24319
<div *ngFor="let item of {'b': 1, 'a': 1} | keyvalue">
{{ item.key }} - {{ item.value }}
</div>
Plunker Example
Previous version
Another approach is to create NgForIn
directive that will be used like:
<div *ngFor="let key in obj">
<b>{{ key }}</b>: {{ obj[key] }}
</div>
Plunker Example
ngforin.directive.ts
@Directive({
selector: '[ngFor][ngForIn]'
})
export class NgForIn<T> extends NgForOf<T> implements OnChanges {
@Input() ngForIn: any;
ngOnChanges(changes: NgForInChanges): void {
if (changes.ngForIn) {
this.ngForOf = Object.keys(this.ngForIn) as Array<any>;
const change = changes.ngForIn;
const currentValue = Object.keys(change.currentValue);
const previousValue = change.previousValue ? Object.keys(change.previousValue) : undefined;
changes.ngForOf = new SimpleChange(previousValue, currentValue, change.firstChange);
super.ngOnChanges(changes);
}
}
}
Printing pointers in C
"s" is not a "char*", it's a "char[4]". And so, "&s" is not a "char**", but actually "a pointer to an array of 4 characater". Your compiler may treat "&s" as if you had written "&s[0]", which is roughly the same thing, but is a "char*".
When you write "char** p = &s;" you are trying to say "I want p to be set to the address of the thing which currently points to "asd". But currently there is nothing which points to "asd". There is just an array which holds "asd";
char s[] = "asd";
char *p = &s[0]; // alternately you could use the shorthand char*p = s;
char **pp = &p;

What does 'URI has an authority component' mean?
I found out that the URL of the application conflicted with a module in the Sun GlassFish.
So, in the file sun-web.xml
I renamed the <context-root>/servlets-samples</context-root>.
It is now working.
What's the difference between passing by reference vs. passing by value?
Pass by value sends a COPY of the data stored in the variable you specify, pass by reference sends a direct link to the variable itself. So if you pass a variable by reference and then change the variable inside the block you passed it into, the original variable will be changed. If you simply pass by value, the original variable will not be able to be changed by the block you passed it into but you will get a copy of whatever it contained at the time of the call.
Android: Vertical alignment for multi line EditText (Text area)
This is similar to CommonsWare answer but with a minor tweak: android:gravity="top|start"
. Complete code example:
<EditText
android:id="@+id/EditText02"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:lines="5"
android:gravity="top|start"
android:inputType="textMultiLine"
android:scrollHorizontally="false"
/>
Named placeholders in string formatting
This is an old thread, but just for the record, you could also use Java 8 style, like this:
public static String replaceParams(Map<String, String> hashMap, String template) {
return hashMap.entrySet().stream().reduce(template, (s, e) -> s.replace("%(" + e.getKey() + ")", e.getValue()),
(s, s2) -> s);
}
Usage:
public static void main(String[] args) {
final HashMap<String, String> hashMap = new HashMap<String, String>() {
{
put("foo", "foo1");
put("bar", "bar1");
put("car", "BMW");
put("truck", "MAN");
}
};
String res = replaceParams(hashMap, "This is '%(foo)' and '%(foo)', but also '%(bar)' '%(bar)' indeed.");
System.out.println(res);
System.out.println(replaceParams(hashMap, "This is '%(car)' and '%(foo)', but also '%(bar)' '%(bar)' indeed."));
System.out.println(replaceParams(hashMap, "This is '%(car)' and '%(truck)', but also '%(foo)' '%(bar)' + '%(truck)' indeed."));
}
The output will be:
This is 'foo1' and 'foo1', but also 'bar1' 'bar1' indeed.
This is 'BMW' and 'foo1', but also 'bar1' 'bar1' indeed.
This is 'BMW' and 'MAN', but also 'foo1' 'bar1' + 'MAN' indeed.
Python: Assign print output to a variable
The print
statement in Python converts its arguments to strings, and outputs those strings to stdout. To save the string to a variable instead, only convert it to a string:
a = str(tag.getArtist())
SQL statement to get column type
Another option for MS SQL is to replace the select
query here with the query you want the types for:
declare @sql varchar(4000);
set @sql = 'select ''hi'' as greeting';
select * from master.sys.dm_exec_describe_first_result_set (@sql, Null, 0);
'str' object does not support item assignment in Python
Python strings are immutable so what you are trying to do in C will be simply impossible in python. You will have to create a new string.
I would like to read some characters from a string and put it into
other string.
Then use a string slice:
>>> s1 = 'Hello world!!'
>>> s2 = s1[6:12]
>>> print s2
world!
Streaming a video file to an html5 video player with Node.js so that the video controls continue to work?
The Accept Ranges
header (the bit in writeHead()
) is required for the HTML5 video controls to work.
I think instead of just blindly send the full file, you should first check the Accept Ranges
header in the REQUEST, then read in and send just that bit. fs.createReadStream
support start
, and end
option for that.
So I tried an example and it works. The code is not pretty but it is easy to understand. First we process the range header to get the start/end position. Then we use fs.stat
to get the size of the file without reading the whole file into memory. Finally, use fs.createReadStream
to send the requested part to the client.
var fs = require("fs"),
http = require("http"),
url = require("url"),
path = require("path");
http.createServer(function (req, res) {
if (req.url != "/movie.mp4") {
res.writeHead(200, { "Content-Type": "text/html" });
res.end('<video src="http://localhost:8888/movie.mp4" controls></video>');
} else {
var file = path.resolve(__dirname,"movie.mp4");
fs.stat(file, function(err, stats) {
if (err) {
if (err.code === 'ENOENT') {
// 404 Error if file not found
return res.sendStatus(404);
}
res.end(err);
}
var range = req.headers.range;
if (!range) {
// 416 Wrong range
return res.sendStatus(416);
}
var positions = range.replace(/bytes=/, "").split("-");
var start = parseInt(positions[0], 10);
var total = stats.size;
var end = positions[1] ? parseInt(positions[1], 10) : total - 1;
var chunksize = (end - start) + 1;
res.writeHead(206, {
"Content-Range": "bytes " + start + "-" + end + "/" + total,
"Accept-Ranges": "bytes",
"Content-Length": chunksize,
"Content-Type": "video/mp4"
});
var stream = fs.createReadStream(file, { start: start, end: end })
.on("open", function() {
stream.pipe(res);
}).on("error", function(err) {
res.end(err);
});
});
}
}).listen(8888);
Make a VStack fill the width of the screen in SwiftUI
There is a better way!
To make the VStack
fill the width of it's parent you can use a GeometryReader
and set the frame. (.relativeWidth(1.0)
should work but apparently doesn't right now)
struct ContentView : View {
var body: some View {
GeometryReader { geometry in
VStack {
Text("test")
}
.frame(width: geometry.size.width,
height: nil,
alignment: .topLeading)
}
}
}
To make the VStack
the width of the actual screen you can use UIScreen.main.bounds.width
when setting the frame instead of using a GeometryReader
, but I imagine you likely wanted the width of the parent view.
Also, this way has the added benefit of not adding spacing in your VStack
which might happen (if you have spacing) if you added an HStack
with a Spacer()
as it's content to the VStack
.
UPDATE - THERE IS NOT A BETTER WAY!
After checking out the accepted answer, I realized that the accepted answer doesn't actually work! It appears to work at first glance, but if you update the VStack
to have a green background you'll notice the VStack
is still the same width.
struct ContentView : View {
var body: some View {
NavigationView {
VStack(alignment: .leading) {
Text("Hello World")
.font(.title)
Text("Another")
.font(.body)
Spacer()
}
.background(Color.green)
.frame(minWidth: 0, maxWidth: .infinity, minHeight: 0, maxHeight: .infinity, alignment: .topLeading)
.background(Color.red)
}
}
}
This is because .frame(...)
is actually adding another view to the view hierarchy and that view ends up filling the screen. However, the VStack
still does not.
This issue also seems to be the same in my answer as well and can be checked using the same approach as above (putting different background colors before and after the .frame(...)
. The only way that appears to actually widen the VStack
is to use spacers:
struct ContentView : View {
var body: some View {
VStack(alignment: .leading) {
HStack{
Text("Title")
.font(.title)
Spacer()
}
Text("Content")
.lineLimit(nil)
.font(.body)
Spacer()
}
.background(Color.green)
}
}
File input 'accept' attribute - is it useful?
Yes, it is extremely useful in browsers that support it, but the "limiting" is as a convenience to users (so they are not overwhelmed with irrelevant files) rather than as a way to prevent them from uploading things you don't want them uploading.
It is supported in
- Chrome 16 +
- Safari 6 +
- Firefox 9 +
- IE 10 +
- Opera 11 +

How do you split and unsplit a window/view in Eclipse IDE?
This is possible with the menu items Window>Editor>Toggle Split Editor.
Current shortcut for splitting is:
Azerty keyboard:
- Ctrl + _ for split horizontally, and
- Ctrl + { for split vertically.
Qwerty US keyboard:
- Ctrl + Shift + - (accessing _) for split horizontally, and
- Ctrl + Shift + [ (accessing {) for split vertically.
MacOS - Qwerty US keyboard:
- ⌘ + Shift + - (accessing _) for split horizontally, and
- ⌘ + Shift + [ (accessing {) for split vertically.
On any other keyboard if a required key is unavailable (like { on a german Qwertz keyboard), the following generic approach may work:
- Alt + ASCII code + Ctrl then release Alt
Example: ASCII for '{' = 123, so press 'Alt', '1', '2', '3', 'Ctrl' and release 'Alt', effectively typing '{' while 'Ctrl' is pressed, to split vertically.
Example of vertical split:
PS:
- The menu items Window>Editor>Toggle Split Editor were added with Eclipse Luna 4.4 M4, as mentioned by Lars Vogel in "Split editor implemented in Eclipse M4 Luna"
- The split editor is one of the oldest and most upvoted Eclipse bug! Bug 8009
- The split editor functionality has been developed in Bug 378298, and will be available as of Eclipse Luna M4. The Note & Newsworthy of Eclipse Luna M4 will contain the announcement.
How to connect to a secure website using SSL in Java with a pkcs12 file?
It appears that you are extracting you certificate from the PKCS #12 key store and creating a new Java key store (with type "JKS"). You don't strictly have to provide a trust store password (although using one allows you to test the integrity of your root certificates).
So, try your program with only the following SSL properties set. The list shown in your question is over-specified and may be causing problems.
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore", "myTrustStore");
System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword", "changeit");
Also, using the PKCS #12 file directly as the trust store should work, as long as the CA certificate is detected as a "trusted" entry. But in that case, you'll have to specify the javax.net.ssl.trustStoreType
property as "PKCS12"
too.
Try with these properties only. If you get the same error, I suspect your problem is not the key store. If it still occurs, post more of the stack trace in your question to narrow the problem down.
The new error, "the trustAnchors parameter must be non-empty," could be due to setting the javax.net.ssl.trustStore
property to a file that doesn't exist; if the file cannot be opened, an empty key store created, which would lead to this error.
How to open spss data files in excel?
You can use online converter, developed by me at N'counter.
This is the easiest way to open SPSS file in Excel.
1) You just have to upload your file to SPSS coN'verter at https://secure.ncounter.de/SpssConverter
2) Select some options
3) And your converted Excel file will be downloaded
No information about your file contents is retained on our server. The file travels to our server, is converted in-memory, and is immediately discarded: We don't peer into your data at any time!
Looking for a 'cmake clean' command to clear up CMake output
To simplify cleaning when using "out of source" build (i.e. you build in the build
directory), I use the following script:
$ cat ~/bin/cmake-clean-build
#!/bin/bash
if [ -d ../build ]; then
cd ..
rm -rf build
mkdir build
cd build
else
echo "build directory DOES NOT exist"
fi
Every time you need to clean up, you should source this script from the build
directory:
. cmake-clean-build
How to instantiate a javascript class in another js file?

How to get the squared symbol (²) to display in a string
Not sure what kind of text box you are refering to. However, I'm not sure if you can do this in a text box on a user form.
A text box on a sheet you can though.
Sheets("Sheet1").Shapes("TextBox 1").TextFrame2.TextRange.Text = "R2=" & variable
Sheets("Sheet1").Shapes("TextBox 1").TextFrame2.TextRange.Characters(2, 1).Font.Superscript = msoTrue
And same thing for an excel cell
Sheets("Sheet1").Range("A1").Characters(2, 1).Font.Superscript = True
If this isn't what you're after you will need to provide more information in your question.

How can I mix LaTeX in with Markdown?
Have you tried with Pandoc?
EDIT:
Although the documentation has become a bit complex, pandoc has supported inline LaTeX and LaTeX templates for 10 years.
Documents like the following one can be written in Markdown:

\usepackage{tikz,pgfplots}
\usepackage{fancyhdr}
\pagestyle{fancy}
\fancyhead[CO,CE]{This is fancy}
\fancyfoot[CO,CE]{So is this}

This could be a good example or inlined \LaTeX:

\end{axis}
\end{tikzpicture}
%Here ends the furst plot

\begin{tikzpicture}
\begin{axis}
\addplot3[

Which can be converted to LaTeX using commands like this: pandoc -s -i Hello.md -o Hello.tex
Following is an image of the converted Hello.md
to Hello.pdf
file using MiKTeX as LaTeX processor with the command: pandoc -s -i Hello.md -o Hello.pdf
Finally, there are some open source LaTeX templates like this one: https://github.com/Wandmalfarbe/pandoc-latex-template, that can be used for better formatting.
As always, the reader should dig deeper if he has less trivial use cases than presented here.
date format yyyy-MM-ddTHH:mm:ssZ
It works fine with Salesforce REST API query datetime formats
DateTime now = DateTime.UtcNow;
string startDate = now.AddDays(-5).ToString("yyyy-MM-ddTHH\\:mm\\:ssZ");
string endDate = now.ToString("yyyy-MM-ddTHH\\:mm\\:ssZ");
//REST service Query
string salesforceUrl= https://csxx.salesforce.com//services/data/v33.0/sobjects/Account/updated/?start=" + startDate + "&end=" + endDate;
// https://csxx.salesforce.com/services/data/v33.0/sobjects/Account/updated/?start=2015-03-10T15:15:57Z&end=2015-03-15T15:15:57Z
It returns the results from Salesforce without any issues.
What is log4j's default log file dumping path
By default, Log4j
logs to standard output and that means you should be able to see log messages on your Eclipse's console view. To log to a file you need to use a FileAppender
explicitly by defining it in a log4j.properties
file in your classpath.
Create the following log4j.properties
file in your classpath. This allows you to log your message to both a file as well as your console.
log4j.rootLogger=debug, stdout, file
log4j.appender.stdout=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender
log4j.appender.stdout.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
# Pattern to output the caller's file name and line number.
log4j.appender.stdout.layout.ConversionPattern=%5p [%t] (%F:%L) - %m%n
log4j.appender.file=org.apache.log4j.FileAppender
log4j.appender.file.File=example.log
log4j.appender.file.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.file.layout.ConversionPattern=%p %t %c - %m%n
Note: The above creates an example.log in your current working directory (i.e. Eclipse's project directory) so that the same log4j.properties could work with different projects without overwriting each other's logs.

Bootstrap 3 - Set Container Width to 940px Maximum for Desktops?
In the first place consider the Small grid, see: http://getbootstrap.com/css/#grid-options. A max container width of 750 px will maybe to small for you (also read: Why does Bootstrap 3 force the container width to certain sizes?)
When using the Small grid use media queries to set the max-container width:
@media (min-width: 768px) {
.container {
max-width: 750px;
}
}
Second also read this question: Bootstrap 3 - 940px width grid?, possible duplicate?
12 x 60 = 720px for the columns and 11 x 20 = 220px
there will also a gutter of 20px on both sides of the grid so 220 + 720 + 40 makes 980px
there is 'no' @ColumnWidth
You colums width will be calculated dynamically based on your settings in variables.less.
you could set @grid-columns
and @grid-gutter-width
. The width of a column will be set as a percentage via grid.less in mixins.less:
.calc-grid(@index, @class, @type) when (@type = width) {
.col-@{class}-@{index} {
width: percentage((@index / @grid-columns));
}
}
update
Set @grid-gutter-width to 20px;, @container-desktop: 940px;, @container-large-desktop: @container-desktop and recompile bootstrap.
Basic Apache commands for a local Windows machine
For frequent uses of this command I found it easy to add the location of C:\xampp\apache\bin
to the PATH
. Use whatever directory you have this installed in.
Then you can run from any directory in command line:
httpd -k restart
The answer above that suggests httpd -k -restart is actually a typo. You can see the commands by running httpd /?
how can get index & count in vuejs
this might be a dirty code but i think it can suffice
<div v-for="(counter in counters">
{{ counter }}) {{ userlist[counter-1].name }}
</div>
on your script add this one
data(){return {userlist: [],user_id: '',counters: 0,edit: false,}},
Get index of current item in a PowerShell loop
.NET has some handy utility methods for this sort of thing in System.Array:
PS> $a = 'a','b','c'
PS> [array]::IndexOf($a, 'b')
1
PS> [array]::IndexOf($a, 'c')
2
Good points on the above approach in the comments. Besides "just" finding an index of an item in an array, given the context of the problem, this is probably more suitable:
$letters = { 'A', 'B', 'C' }
$letters | % {$i=0} {"Value:$_ Index:$i"; $i++}
Foreach (%) can have a Begin sciptblock that executes once. We set an index variable there and then we can reference it in the process scripblock where it gets incremented before exiting the scriptblock.
How to align td elements in center
I personally didn't find any of these answers helpful. What worked in my case was giving the element float:none
and position:relative
. After that the element centered itself in the <td>
.
Delaying a jquery script until everything else has loaded
Multiple $(document).ready()
will fire in order top down on the page. The last $(document).ready()
will fire last on the page. Inside the last $(document).ready()
, you can trigger a new custom event to fire after all the others..
Wrap your code in an event handler for the new custom event.
<html>
<head>
<script>
$(document).on("my-event-afterLastDocumentReady", function () {
// Fires LAST
});
$(document).ready(function() {
// Fires FIRST
});
$(document).ready(function() {
// Fires SECOND
});
$(document).ready(function() {
// Fires THIRD
});
</script>
<body>
... other code, scripts, etc....
</body>
</html>
<script>
$(document).ready(function() {
// Fires FOURTH
// This event will fire after all the other $(document).ready() functions have completed.
// Usefull when your script is at the top of the page, but you need it run last
$(document).trigger("my-event-afterLastDocumentReady");
});
</script>
Rails 3 check if attribute changed
Above answers are better but yet for knowledge we have another approch as well,
Lets 'catagory' column value changed for an object (@design),
@design.changes.has_key?('catagory')
The .changes will return a hash with key as column's name and values as a array with two values [old_value, new_value] for each columns. For example catagory for above is changed from 'ABC' to 'XYZ' of @design,
@design.changes # => {}
@design.catagory = 'XYZ'
@design.changes # => { 'catagory' => ['ABC', 'XYZ'] }

How do you use https / SSL on localhost?
This question is really old, but I came across this page when I was looking for the easiest and quickest way to do this. Using Webpack is much simpler:
install webpack-dev-server
npm i -g webpack-dev-server
start webpack-dev-server with https
webpack-dev-server --https
Anaconda export Environment file
The easiest way to save the packages from an environment to be installed in another computer is:
$ conda list -e > req.txt
then you can install the environment using
$ conda create -n <environment-name> --file req.txt
if you use pip
, please use the following commands: reference https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/reference/pip_freeze/
$ env1/bin/pip freeze > requirements.txt
$ env2/bin/pip install -r requirements.txt
Set cookies for cross origin requests
In order for the client to be able to read cookies from cross-origin requests, you need to have:
All responses from the server need to have the following in their header:
Access-Control-Allow-Credentials: true
The client needs to send all requests with withCredentials: true
option
In my implementation with Angular 7 and Spring Boot, I achieved that with the following:
Server-side:
@CrossOrigin(origins = "http://my-cross-origin-url.com", allowCredentials = "true")
@Controller
@RequestMapping(path = "/something")
public class SomethingController {
...
}
The origins = "http://my-cross-origin-url.com"
part will add Access-Control-Allow-Origin: http://my-cross-origin-url.com
to every server's response header
The allowCredentials = "true"
part will add Access-Control-Allow-Credentials: true
to every server's response header, which is what we need in order for the client to read the cookies
Client-side:
import { HttpInterceptor, HttpXsrfTokenExtractor, HttpRequest, HttpHandler, HttpEvent } from "@angular/common/http";
import { Injectable } from "@angular/core";
import { Observable } from 'rxjs';
@Injectable()
export class CustomHttpInterceptor implements HttpInterceptor {
constructor(private tokenExtractor: HttpXsrfTokenExtractor) {
}
intercept(req: HttpRequest<any>, next: HttpHandler): Observable<HttpEvent<any>> {
// send request with credential options in order to be able to read cross-origin cookies
req = req.clone({ withCredentials: true });
// return XSRF-TOKEN in each request's header (anti-CSRF security)
const headerName = 'X-XSRF-TOKEN';
let token = this.tokenExtractor.getToken() as string;
if (token !== null && !req.headers.has(headerName)) {
req = req.clone({ headers: req.headers.set(headerName, token) });
}
return next.handle(req);
}
}
With this class you actually inject additional stuff to all your request.
The first part req = req.clone({ withCredentials: true });
, is what you need in order to send each request with withCredentials: true
option. This practically means that an OPTION request will be send first, so that you get your cookies and the authorization token among them, before sending the actual POST/PUT/DELETE requests, which need this token attached to them (in the header), in order for the server to verify and execute the request.
The second part is the one that specifically handles an anti-CSRF token for all requests. Reads it from the cookie when needed and writes it in the header of every request.
The desired result is something like this:
Why split the <script> tag when writing it with document.write()?
The </script>
inside the Javascript string litteral is interpreted by the HTML parser as a closing tag, causing unexpected behaviour (see example on JSFiddle).
To avoid this, you can place your javascript between comments (this style of coding was common practice, back when Javascript was poorly supported among browsers). This would work (see example in JSFiddle):
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
if (jQuery === undefined) {
document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="http://z-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/javascripts/lib/jquery/jquery-1.2.6.pack._V265113567_.js"></script>');
}
// -->
</script>
...but to be honest, using document.write
is not something I would consider best practice. Why not manipulating the DOM directly?
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
if (jQuery === undefined) {
var script = document.createElement('script');
script.setAttribute('type', 'text/javascript');
script.setAttribute('src', 'http://z-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/javascripts/lib/jquery/jquery-1.2.6.pack._V265113567_.js');
document.body.appendChild(script);
}
// -->
</script>
scp with port number specified
Unlike ssh, scp uses the uppercase P switch to set the port instead of the lowercase p:
scp -P 80 ... # Use port 80 to bypass the firewall, instead of the scp default
The lowercase p switch is used with scp for the preservation of times and modes.
Here is an excerpt from scp's man page with all of the details concerning the two switches, as well as an explanation of why uppercase P was chosen for scp:
-P port Specifies the port to connect to on the remote host. Note that this option is written with a capital 'P', because -p is already
reserved for preserving the times and modes of the file in rcp(1).
-p Preserves modification times, access times, and modes from the original file.
Update and aside to address one of the (heavily upvoted) comments:
With regard to Abdull's comment about scp
option order, what he suggests:
scp -P80 -r some_directory -P 80 ...
..., intersperses options and parameters. getopt(1)
clearly defines that parameters must come after options and not be interspersed with them:
The parameters getopt is called with can be divided into two parts: options which modify the way getopt will do the parsing (the options and the optstring in the SYNOPSIS), and the parameters which are to be parsed (parameters in the SYNOPSIS). The second part will start at
the first non-option parameter that is not an option argument, or after the first occurrence of '--'. If no '-o' or '--options' option is found in the first part, the first parameter of the second part is used as the short options string.
Since the -r
command line option takes no further arguments, some_directory
is "the first non-option parameter that is not an option argument." Therefore, as clearly spelled out in the getopt(1)
man page, all succeeding command line arguments that follow it (i.e., -P 80 ...
) are assumed to be non-options (and non-option arguments).
So, in effect, this is how getopt(1)
sees the example presented with the end of the options and the beginning of the parameters demarcated by succeeding text bing in gray:
scp -P80 -r some_directory -P 80 ...
This has nothing to do with scp
behavior and everything to do with how POSIX standard applications parse command line options using the getopt(3)
set of C functions.
For more details with regard to command line ordering and processing, please read the getopt(1)
manpage using:
man 1 getopt
How can I convert a string to a number in Perl?
$var += 0
probably what you want. Be warned however, if $var is string could not be converted to numeric, you'll get the error, and $var will be reset to 0:
my $var = 'abc123';
print "var = $var\n";
$var += 0;
print "var = $var\n";

var = abc123
Argument "abc123" isn't numeric in addition (+) at test.pl line 7.

How to sort with lambda in Python
Use
a = sorted(a, key=lambda x: x.modified, reverse=True)
# ^^^^
On Python 2.x, the sorted
function takes its arguments in this order:
sorted(iterable, cmp=None, key=None, reverse=False)
so without the key=
, the function you pass in will be considered a cmp
function which takes 2 arguments.

How do you make Vim unhighlight what you searched for?
*:noh* *:nohlsearch*
:noh[lsearch] Stop the highlighting for the 'hlsearch' option. It
is automatically turned back on when using a search
command, or setting the 'hlsearch' option.
This command doesn't work in an autocommand, because
the highlighting state is saved and restored when
executing autocommands |autocmd-searchpat|.
Same thing for when invoking a user function.
I found it just under :help #
, which I keep hitting all the time, and which highlights all the words on the current page like the current one.
jQuery Date Picker - disable past dates

when you initialize the datepickers
<label for="from">From</label> <input type="text" id="from" name="from"/> <label for="to">to</label> <input type="text" id="to" name="to"/>
var dateToday = new Date();
var dates = $("#from, #to").datepicker({
defaultDate: "+1w",
changeMonth: true,
numberOfMonths: 3,
minDate: dateToday,
onSelect: function(selectedDate) {
var option = this.id == "from" ? "minDate" : "maxDate",
instance = $(this).data("datepicker"),
date = $.datepicker.parseDate(instance.settings.dateFormat || $.datepicker._defaults.dateFormat, selectedDate, instance.settings);
dates.not(this).datepicker("option", option, date);

Edit - from your comment now it works as expected http://jsfiddle.net/nicolapeluchetti/dAyzq/1/
Copying files from server to local computer using SSH
Your question is a bit confusing, but I am assuming - you are first doing 'ssh' to find out which files or rather specifically directories are there and then again on your local computer, you are trying to scp 'all' files in that directory to local path. you should simply do scp -r
.
So here in your case it'd be something like
local> scp -r [email protected]:/path/to/dir local/path
If youare using some other executable that provides 'scp like functionality', refer to it's manual for recursively copying files.
Finding first blank row, then writing to it
very old thread but .. i was lookin for an "easier"... a smaller code
i honestly dont understand any of the answers above :D
- i´m a noob
but this should do the job. (for smaller sheets)
Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
objExcel.Workbooks.Add
reads every cell in col 1 from bottom up and stops at first empty cell
intRow = 1
Do until objExcel.Cells(intRow, 1).Value = ""
intRow = intRow + 1
Loop
then you can write your info like this
objExcel.Cells(intRow, 1).Value = "first emtpy row, col 1"
objExcel.Cells(intRow, 2).Value = "first emtpy row, col 2"
etc...
and then i recognize its an vba thread ... lol

How to set default value to all keys of a dict object in python?
You can replace your old dictionary with a defaultdict
:
>>> from collections import defaultdict
>>> d = {'foo': 123, 'bar': 456}
>>> d['baz']
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
KeyError: 'baz'
>>> d = defaultdict(lambda: -1, d)
>>> d['baz']
-1
The "trick" here is that a defaultdict
can be initialized with another dict
. This means
that you preserve the existing values in your normal dict
:
>>> d['foo']
123
How can we dynamically allocate and grow an array
you can not increase array size dynamically better you copy into new array
. Use System.arrayCopy
for that, it better than copying each element into new array. For reference
Why is System.arraycopy native in Java?.
private static Object resizeArray (Object oldArray, int newSize) {
int oldSize = java.lang.reflect.Array.getLength(oldArray);
Class elementType = oldArray.getClass().getComponentType();
Object newArray = java.lang.reflect.Array.newInstance(
elementType, newSize);
int preserveLength = Math.min(oldSize, newSize);
if (preserveLength > 0)
System.arraycopy(oldArray, 0, newArray, 0, preserveLength);
return newArray;
}

s are immutable. Once they are created, you can't change them. This means replace

The difference between replaceAll
and replace
is that replaceAll will search for a regex, replace doesn't.

How to change Android usb connect mode to charge only?
I have been searching for this for ages on my CM 11 android phone, running kitkat.
Well.. finally I found it. It's hidden in a totally unintuitive location:
- Go to settings
- Go to storage
- Open the menu and choose USB computer connection
Here you can choose between Media Device (MTP), Camera (PTP) and Mass storage (UMS). Turn them all off to get it to charge only.
Sadly, if the option is not there, it is not supported by the phone. This seems to be the case for my HTC One (M7).

How to get the request parameters in Symfony 2?
Your options:
- Simple:
$request->request->get('param')
($_POST['param']
) or
$request->query->get('param')
($_GET['param']
)
- Good Symfony forms with all validation, value transormation and form rendering with errors and many other features:
- Something in between (see example below)

How to add a filter class in Spring Boot?
There are three ways to add your filter,
- Annotate your filter with one of the Spring stereotypes such as
@Component
- Register a
@Bean
with Filter
type in Spring @Configuration
- Register a
@Bean
with FilterRegistrationBean
type in Spring @Configuration
Either #1 or #2 will do if you want your filter applies to all requests without customization, use #3 otherwise. You don't need to specify component scan for #1 to work as long as you place your filter class in the same or sub-package of your SpringApplication
class. For #3, use along with #2 is only necessary when you want Spring to manage your filter class such as have it auto wired dependencies. It works just fine for me to new my filter which doesn't need any dependency autowiring/injection.
Although combining #2 and #3 works fine, I was surprised it doesn't end up with two filters applying twice. My guess is that Spring combines the two beans as one when it calls the same method to create both of them. In case you want to use #3 alone with authowiring, you can AutowireCapableBeanFactory
. The following is an example,
private @Autowired AutowireCapableBeanFactory beanFactory;
@Bean
public FilterRegistrationBean myFilter() {
FilterRegistrationBean registration = new FilterRegistrationBean();
Filter myFilter = new MyFilter();
beanFactory.autowireBean(myFilter);
registration.setFilter(myFilter);
registration.addUrlPatterns("/myfilterpath/*");
return registration;
}
Two dimensional array list
Here's how to make and print a 2D Multi-Dimensional Array using the ArrayList Object.
import java.util.ArrayList;
public class TwoD_ArrayListExample {
static public ArrayList<ArrayList<String>> gameBoard = new ArrayList<ArrayList<String>>();
public static void main(String[] args) {
insertObjects();
printTable(gameBoard);
}
public static void insertObjects() {
for (int rowNum = 0; rowNum != 8; rowNum++) {
ArrayList<String> oneRow = new ArrayList<String>();
gameBoard.add(rowNum, oneRow);
for (int columnNum = 0; columnNum != 8; columnNum++) {
String description= "Description of Objects: row= "+ rowNum + ", column= "+ columnNum;
oneRow.add(columnNum, description);
}
}
}
// The printTable method prints the table to the console
private static void printTable(ArrayList<ArrayList<String>> table) {
for (int row = 0; row != 8; row++) {
for (int col = 0; col != 8; col++) {
System.out.println("Printing: row= "+ row+ ", column= "+ col);
System.out.println(table.get(row).get(col).toString());
}
}
System.out.println("\n");
}
}
Web scraping with Python
Here is a simple web crawler, i used BeautifulSoup and we will search for all the links(anchors) who's class name is _3NFO0d. I used Flipkar.com, it is an online retailing store.
import requests
from bs4 import BeautifulSoup
def crawl_flipkart():
url = 'https://www.flipkart.com/'
source_code = requests.get(url)
plain_text = source_code.text
soup = BeautifulSoup(plain_text, "lxml")
for link in soup.findAll('a', {'class': '_3NFO0d'}):
href = link.get('href')
print(href)
crawl_flipkart()
Query to get all rows from previous month
WHERE created_date >= DATE_ADD(LAST_DAY(DATE_SUB(NOW(), INTERVAL 2 MONTH)), INTERVAL 1 DAY)
AND created_date <= DATE_ADD(LAST_DAY(DATE_SUB(NOW(), INTERVAL 1 MONTH)), INTERVAL 0 DAY)
This worked for me (Selects all records created from last month, regardless of the day you run the query this month)
OpenVPN failed connection / All TAP-Win32 adapters on this system are currently in use
I found a solution to this. It's bloody witchcraft, but it works.
When you install the client, open Control Panel > Network Connections.
You'll see a disabled network connection that was added by the TAP installer (Local Area Connection 3 or some such).
Right Click it, click Enable.
The device will not reset itself to enabled, but that's ok; try connecting w/ the client again. It'll work.
Removing character in list of strings
A faster way is to join the list, replace 8 and split the new string:
mylist = [("aaaa8"),("bb8"),("ccc8"),("dddddd8")]
mylist = ' '.join(mylist).replace('8','').split()
print mylist
Replace Div Content onclick
EDIT: This answer was submitted before the OP's jsFiddle example was posted in question. See second answer for response to that jsFiddle.
Here is an example of how it could work:
Working jsFiddle Demo
HTML:
<div id="someDiv">
Once upon a midnight dreary
<br>While I pondered weak and weary
<br>Over many a quaint and curious
<br>Volume of forgotten lore.
</div>
Type new text here:<br>
<input type="text" id="replacementtext" />
<input type="button" id="mybutt" value="Swap" />
<input type="hidden" id="vault" />
javascript/jQuery:
//Declare persistent vars outside function
var savText, newText, myState = 0;
$('#mybutt').click(function(){
if (myState==0){
savText = $('#someDiv').html(); //save poem data from DIV
newText = $('#replacementtext').val(); //save data from input field
$('#replacementtext').val(''); //clear input field
$('#someDiv').html( newText ); //replace poem with insert field data
myState = 1; //remember swap has been done once
} else {
$('#someDiv').html(savText);
$('#replacementtext').val(newText); //replace contents
myState = 0;
}
});
Can't load AMD 64-bit .dll on a IA 32-bit platform
Try this:
- Download and install a 32-bit JDK.
- Go to eclipse click on your project (Run As ? Run Configurations...) under Java Application branch.
- Go to the JRE tab and select Alternate JRE. Click on Installed JRE button, add your 32-bit JRE and select.
Delete the last two characters of the String
You may use the following method to remove last n
character -
public String removeLast(String s, int n) {
if (null != s && !s.isEmpty()) {
s = s.substring(0, s.length()-n);
}
return s;
}
How do I get values from a SQL database into textboxes using C#?
If you want to display single value access from database into textbox, please refer to the code below:
SqlConnection con=new SqlConnection("connection string");
SqlCommand cmd=new SqlConnection(SqlQuery,Con);
Con.Open();
TextBox1.Text=cmd.ExecuteScalar();
Con.Close();
or
SqlConnection con=new SqlConnection("connection string");
SqlCommand cmd=new SqlConnection(SqlQuery,Con);
Con.Open();
SqlDataReader dr=new SqlDataReadr();
dr=cmd.Executereader();
if(dr.read())
{
TextBox1.Text=dr.GetValue(0).Tostring();
}
Con.Close();
How to convert byte array to string and vice versa?
Even though
new String(bytes, "UTF-8")
is correct it throws a UnsupportedEncodingException
which forces you to deal with a checked exception. You can use as an alternative another constructor since Java 1.6 to convert a byte array into a String
:
new String(bytes, StandardCharsets.UTF_8)
This one does not throw any exception.
Converting back should be also done with StandardCharsets.UTF_8
:
"test".getBytes(StandardCharsets.UTF_8)
Again you avoid having to deal with checked exceptions.
Technically what is the main difference between Oracle JDK and OpenJDK?
Technical differences are a consequence of the goal of each one (OpenJDK is meant to be the reference implementation, open to the community, while Oracle is meant to be a commercial one)
They both have "almost" the same code of the classes in the Java API; but the code for the virtual machine itself is actually different, and when it comes to libraries, OpenJDK tends to use open libraries while Oracle tends to use closed ones; for instance, the font library.
TypeScript error: Type 'void' is not assignable to type 'boolean'
It means that the callback function you passed to this.dataStore.data.find
should return a boolean and have 3 parameters, two of which can be optional:
- value: Conversations
- index: number
- obj: Conversation[]
However, your callback function does not return anything (returns void). You should pass a callback function with the correct return value:
this.dataStore.data.find((element, index, obj) => {
// ...
return true; // or false
});
or:
this.dataStore.data.find(element => {
// ...
return true; // or false
});
Reason why it's this way: the function you pass to the find
method is called a predicate. The predicate here defines a boolean outcome based on conditions defined in the function itself, so that the find
method can determine which value to find.
In practice, this means that the predicate is called for each item in data
, and the first item in data
for which your predicate returns true
is the value returned by find
.
How to verify CuDNN installation?
I have cuDNN 8.0 and none of the suggestions above worked for me. The desired information was in /usr/include/cudnn_version.h
, so
cat /usr/include/cudnn_version.h | grep CUDNN_MAJOR -A 2
did the trick.
How to write a multiline Jinja statement
According to the documentation: https://jinja.palletsprojects.com/en/2.10.x/templates/#line-statements you may use multi-line statements as long as the code has parens/brackets around it. Example:
{% if ( (foo == 'foo' or bar == 'bar') and
(fooo == 'fooo' or baar == 'baar') ) %}
<li>some text</li>
{% endif %}
Edit: Using line_statement_prefix = '#'
* the code would look like this:
# if ( (foo == 'foo' or bar == 'bar') and
(fooo == 'fooo' or baar == 'baar') )
<li>some text</li>
# endif
*Here's an example of how you'd specify the line_statement_prefix
in the Environment
:
from jinja2 import Environment, PackageLoader, select_autoescape
env = Environment(
loader=PackageLoader('yourapplication', 'templates'),
autoescape=select_autoescape(['html', 'xml']),
line_statement_prefix='#'
)
Or using Flask:
from flask import Flask
app = Flask(__name__, instance_relative_config=True, static_folder='static')
app.jinja_env.filters['zip'] = zip
app.jinja_env.line_statement_prefix = '#'
Apache2: 'AH01630: client denied by server configuration'
This drove me absolutely nuts for a day and a half but I found a solution if all other solutions have been tried unsuccessfully.
This is for macOS.
- Go to activity Monitor (spotlight search for: activity)
- In activity monitor search for httpd which is the Apache service
- Select the one that belongs to root and click X on the top left to close it.
At that point I immediately stopped getting 403 errors and everything started working as expected. Weird thing is i didn't even have to restart apache it just worked, i guess it restarted itself when i went to my localhost, I honestly don't know but I guess the problem is Apache not actually restarting when using apachectl restart, or stop or start. Hope this helps someone.
How to get an object's methods?
for me, the only reliable way to get the methods of the final extending class, was to do like this:
function getMethodsOf(obj){
const methods = {}
Object.getOwnPropertyNames( Object.getPrototypeOf(obj) ).forEach(methodName => {
methods[methodName] = obj[methodName]
})
return methods
}
Deleting Elements in an Array if Element is a Certain value VBA
I'm pretty new to vba & excel - only been doing this for about 3 months -
I thought I'd share my array de-duplication method here as this post seems relevant to it:
This code if part of a bigger application that analyses pipe data-
Pipes are listed in a sheet with number in xxxx.1, xxxx.2, yyyy.1, yyyy.2 .... format. so thats why all the string manipulation exists.
basically it only collects the pipe number once only, and not the .2 or .1 part.
With wbPreviousSummary.Sheets(1)
' here, we will write the edited pipe numbers to a collection - then pass the collection to an array
Dim PipeDict As New Dictionary
Dim TempArray As Variant
TempArray = .Range(.Cells(3, 2), .Cells(3, 2).End(xlDown)).Value
For ele = LBound(TempArray, 1) To UBound(TempArray, 1)
If Not PipeDict.Exists(Left(TempArray(ele, 1), Len(TempArray(ele, 1) - 2))) Then
PipeDict.Add Key:=Left(TempArray(ele, 1), Len(TempArray(ele, 1) - 2)), _
Item:=Left(TempArray(ele, 1), Len(TempArray(ele, 1) - 2))
End If
Next ele
TempArray = PipeDict.Items
For ele = LBound(TempArray) To UBound(TempArray)
MsgBox TempArray(ele)
Next ele
End With
wbPreviousSummary.Close SaveChanges:=False
Set wbPreviousSummary = Nothing 'done early so we dont have the information loaded in memory
Using a heap of message boxes for debugging atm - im sure you'll change it to suit your own work.
I hope people find this useful,

Why is Python running my module when I import it, and how do I stop it?
Unfortunately, you don't. That is part of how the import syntax works and it is important that it does so -- remember def
is actually something executed, if Python did not execute the import, you'd be, well, stuck without functions.
Since you probably have access to the file, though, you might be able to look and see what causes the error. It might be possible to modify your environment to prevent the error from happening.
matplotlib set yaxis label size
If you are using the 'pylab' for interactive plotting you can set the labelsize at creation time with pylab.ylabel('Example', fontsize=40)
.
If you use pyplot
programmatically you can either set the fontsize on creation with ax.set_ylabel('Example', fontsize=40)
or afterwards with ax.yaxis.label.set_size(40)
.
Cross-platform way of getting temp directory in Python
The simplest way, based on @nosklo's comment and answer:
import tempfile
tmp = tempfile.mkdtemp()
But if you want to manually control the creation of the directories:
import os
from tempfile import gettempdir
tmp = os.path.join(gettempdir(), '.{}'.format(hash(os.times())))
os.makedirs(tmp)
That way you can easily clean up after yourself when you are done (for privacy, resources, security, whatever) with:
from shutil import rmtree
rmtree(tmp, ignore_errors=True)
This is similar to what applications like Google Chrome and Linux systemd
do. They just use a shorter hex hash and an app-specific prefix to "advertise" their presence.
Explanation of the UML arrows
The accepted answer being said, It is missing some explanations.
For example, what is the difference between a uni-directional and a bi-directional association? In the provided example, both do exist. ( Both '5's in the arrows)
If looking for a more complete answer and have more time, here is a thorough explanation.
HTTP Request in Kotlin
Maybe the simplest GET
For everybody stuck with NetworkOnMainThreadException for the other solutions: use AsyncTask or, even shorter, (yet still experimental) Coroutines:
launch {
val jsonStr = URL("url").readText()
}
If you need to test with plain http don't forget to add to your manifest:
android:usesCleartextTraffic="true"
For the experimental Coroutines you have to add to build.gradle as of 10/10/2018:
kotlin {
experimental {
coroutines 'enable'
}
}
dependencies {
implementation "org.jetbrains.kotlinx:kotlinx-coroutines-core:0.24.0"
implementation "org.jetbrains.kotlinx:kotlinx-coroutines-android:0.24.0"

Having a UITextField in a UITableViewCell
Try this one. It can handle scrolling as well and you can reuse the cells without the hassle of removing subviews you added before.
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)table numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section{
return 10;
}
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)table cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
UITableViewCell *cell = [table dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"Cell"];
if( cell == nil)
cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:@"Cell"] autorelease];
cell.textLabel.text = [[NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"First",@"Second",@"Third",@"Forth",@"Fifth",@"Sixth",@"Seventh",@"Eighth",@"Nineth",@"Tenth",nil]
objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
if (indexPath.row % 2) {
UITextField *textField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 200, 21)];
textField.placeholder = @"Enter Text";
textField.text = [inputTexts objectAtIndex:indexPath.row/2];
textField.tag = indexPath.row/2;
textField.delegate = self;
cell.accessoryView = textField;
[textField release];
} else
cell.accessoryView = nil;
cell.selectionStyle = UITableViewCellSelectionStyleNone;
return cell;
}
- (BOOL)textFieldShouldEndEditing:(UITextField *)textField {
[inputTexts replaceObjectAtIndex:textField.tag withObject:textField.text];
return YES;
}
- (void)viewDidLoad {
inputTexts = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithObjects:@"",@"",@"",@"",@"",nil];
[super viewDidLoad];
}
