Copy data from one column to other column (which is in a different table)

Now it's more easy with management studio 2016.

Using SQL Server Management Studio

To copy data from one table to another

1.Open the table with columns you want to copy and the one you want to copy into by right-clicking the tables, and then clicking Design.

2.Click the tab for the table with the columns you want to copy and select those columns.

3.From the Edit menu, click Copy.

4.Open a new Query Editor window.

5.Right-click the Query Editor, and then click Design Query in Editor.

6.In the Add Table dialog box, select the source and destination table, click Add, and then close the Add Table dialog box.

7.Right-click an open area of the the Query Editor, point to Change Type, and then click Insert Results.

8.In the Choose Target Table for Insert Results dialog box, select the destination table.

9.In the upper portion of the Query Designer, click the source column in the source table.

10.The Query Designer has now created an INSERT query. Click OK to place the query into the original Query Editor window.

11.Execute the query to insert the data from the source table to the destination table.

Default SecurityProtocol in .NET 4.5

There are two possible scenario,

  1. If you application run on .net framework 4.5 or less than that and you can easily deploy new code to the production then you can use of below solution.

    You can add below line of code before making api call,

    ServicePointManager.SecurityProtocol = SecurityProtocolType.Tls12; // .NET 4.5

  2. If you cannot deploy new code and you want to resolve with the same code which is present in the production, then you have two options.

Option 1 :

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319]
"SchUseStrongCrypto"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319]
"SchUseStrongCrypto"=dword:00000001

then create a file with extension .reg and install.

Note : This setting will apply at registry level and is applicable to all application present on that machine and if you want to restrict to only single application then you can use Option 2

Option 2 : This can be done by changing some configuration setting in config file. You can add either of one in your config file.

<runtime>
    <AppContextSwitchOverrides value="Switch.System.Net.DontEnableSchUseStrongCrypto=false"/>
  </runtime>

or

<runtime>
  <AppContextSwitchOverrides value="Switch.System.Net.DontEnableSystemDefaultTlsVersions=false"
</runtime>

COALESCE with Hive SQL

Hive supports bigint literal since 0.8 version. So, additional "L" is enough:

How do I order my SQLITE database in descending order, for an android app?

About efficient method. You can use CursorLoader. For example I included my action. And you must implement ContentProvider for your data base. https://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/ContentProvider.html

If you implement this, you will call you data base very efficient.

public class LoadEntitiesActionImp implements LoaderManager.LoaderCallbacks<Cursor> {

   public interface OnLoadEntities {
       void onSuccessLoadEntities(List<Entities> entitiesList);
   }

    private OnLoadEntities onLoadEntities;

    private final Context context;

    private final LoaderManager loaderManager;

    public LoadEntitiesActionImp(Context context, LoaderManager loaderManager) {
        this.context = context;
        this.loaderManager = loaderManager;
    }

    public void setCallback(OnLoadEntities onLoadEntities) {
        this.onLoadEntities = onLoadEntities;
    }

    public void loadEntities() {
        loaderManager.initLoader(LOADER_ID, null, this);
    }

    @Override
    public Loader<Cursor> onCreateLoader(int id, Bundle args) {
        return new CursorLoader(context, YOUR_URI, null, YOUR_SELECTION, YOUR_ARGUMENTS_FOR_SELECTION, YOUR_SORT_ORDER);
    }

    @Override
    public void onLoadFinished(Loader<Cursor> loader, Cursor cursor) {
    }

    @Override
    public void onLoaderReset(Loader<Cursor> loader) {
    }

Remove item from list based on condition

Using linq:

prods.Remove( prods.Single( s => s.ID == 1 ) );

Maybe you even want to use SingleOrDefault() and check if the element exists at all ...

EDIT:
Since stuff is a struct, SingleOrDefault() will not return null. But it will return default( stuff ), which will have an ID of 0. When you don't have an ID of 0 for your normal stuff-objects you can query for this ID:

var stuffToRemove = prods.SingleOrDefault( s => s.ID == 1 )
if( stuffToRemove.ID != 0 )
{
    prods.Remove( stuffToRemove );
}

Non-recursive depth first search algorithm

DFS:

list nodes_to_visit = {root};
while( nodes_to_visit isn't empty ) {
  currentnode = nodes_to_visit.take_first();
  nodes_to_visit.prepend( currentnode.children );
  //do something
}

BFS:

list nodes_to_visit = {root};
while( nodes_to_visit isn't empty ) {
  currentnode = nodes_to_visit.take_first();
  nodes_to_visit.append( currentnode.children );
  //do something
}

The symmetry of the two is quite cool.

Update: As pointed out, take_first() removes and returns the first element in the list.

How do I set default value of select box in angularjs

You can simple use ng-init like this

<select ng-init="somethingHere = options[0]" ng-model="somethingHere" ng-options="option.name for option in options"></select>

jQuery Event : Detect changes to the html/text of a div

Adding some content to a div, whether through jQuery or via de DOM-API directly, defaults to the .appendChild() function. What you can do is to override the .appendChild() function of the current object and implement an observer in it. Now having overridden our .appendChild() function, we need to borrow that function from an other object to be able to append the content. Therefor we call the .appendChild() of an other div to finally append the content. Ofcourse, this counts also for the .removeChild().

var obj = document.getElementById("mydiv");
    obj.appendChild = function(node) {
        alert("changed!");

        // call the .appendChild() function of some other div
        // and pass the current (this) to let the function affect it.
        document.createElement("div").appendChild.call(this, node);
        }
    };

Here you can find a naïf example. You can extend it by yourself I guess. http://jsfiddle.net/RKLmA/31/

By the way: this shows JavaScript complies the OpenClosed priciple. :)

How to set my default shell on Mac?

the chsh program will let you change your default shell. It will want the full path to the executable, so if your shell is fish then it will want you to provide the output given when you type which fish.

You'll see a line starting with "Shell:". If you've never edited it, it most likely says "Shell: /bin/bash". Replace that /bin/bash path with the path to your desired shell.

How can I solve the error 'TS2532: Object is possibly 'undefined'?

With the release of TypeScript 3.7, optional chaining (the ? operator) is now officially available.

As such, you can simplify your expression to the following:

const data = change?.after?.data();

You may read more about it from that version's release notes, which cover other interesting features released on that version.

Run the following to install the latest stable release of TypeScript.

npm install typescript

That being said, Optional Chaining can be used alongside Nullish Coalescing to provide a fallback value when dealing with null or undefined values

const data = change?.after?.data() ?? someOtherData();

How do I add an existing Solution to GitHub from Visual Studio 2013

None of the answers were specific to my problem, so here's how I did it.

This is for Visual Studio 2015 and I had already made a repository on Github.com

If you already have your repository URL copy it and then in visual studio:

  • Go to Team Explorer
  • Click the "Sync" button
  • It should have 3 options listed with "get started" links.
  • I chose the "get started" link against "publish to remote repository", which it the bottom one
  • A yellow box will appear asking for the URL. Just paste the URL there and click publish.

Reading a column from CSV file using JAVA

Splitting by comma doesn't work all the time for instance if you have csv file like

"Name" , "Job" , "Address"
"Pratiyush, Singh" , "Teacher" , "Berlin, Germany"

So, I would recommend using the Apache Commons CSV API:

    Reader in = new FileReader("input1.csv");
    Iterable<CSVRecord> records = CSVFormat.EXCEL.parse(in);
    for (CSVRecord record : records) {
      System.out.println(record.get(0));
    }

Convert array of strings into a string in Java

public static void main(String[] args) { String[] strArray = new String[]{"Java", "PHP", ".NET", "PERL", "C", "COBOL"};

        String newString = Arrays.toString(strArray);

        newString = newString.substring(1, newString.length()-1);

        System.out.println("New New String: " + newString);
    }
}

Codeigniter $this->input->post() empty while $_POST is working correctly

There's a few things you can look for help solve this.

  1. Has anything changed or been extended in the core CodeIgniter files. Check that system/core/Input.php is an original copy and the contents of application/library and application/core for additional files

  2. Do the other input methods work? What is the result of this when run beside your print_r call?

    echo $this->input->user_agent();

  3. What data is output from print_r? Look in application/config/config.php for the line $config['global_xss_filtering']. Is this set to TRUE or FALSE? If TRUE maybe the cross site scripting filter has a problem with the data you're posting (this is unlikely I think)

Send data from javascript to a mysql database

JavaScript, as defined in your question, can't directly work with MySql. This is because it isn't running on the same computer.

JavaScript runs on the client side (in the browser), and databases usually exist on the server side. You'll probably need to use an intermediate server-side language (like PHP, Java, .Net, or a server-side JavaScript stack like Node.js) to do the query.

Here's a tutorial on how to write some code that would bind PHP, JavaScript, and MySql together, with code running both in the browser, and on a server:

http://www.w3schools.com/php/php_ajax_database.asp

And here's the code from that page. It doesn't exactly match your scenario (it does a query, and doesn't store data in the DB), but it might help you start to understand the types of interactions you'll need in order to make this work.

In particular, pay attention to these bits of code from that article.

Bits of Javascript:

xmlhttp.open("GET","getuser.php?q="+str,true);
xmlhttp.send();

Bits of PHP code:

mysql_select_db("ajax_demo", $con);
$result = mysql_query($sql);
// ...
$row = mysql_fetch_array($result)
mysql_close($con);

Also, after you get a handle on how this sort of code works, I suggest you use the jQuery JavaScript library to do your AJAX calls. It is much cleaner and easier to deal with than the built-in AJAX support, and you won't have to write browser-specific code, as jQuery has cross-browser support built in. Here's the page for the jQuery AJAX API documentation.

The code from the article

HTML/Javascript code:

<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
function showUser(str)
{
if (str=="")
  {
  document.getElementById("txtHint").innerHTML="";
  return;
  }
if (window.XMLHttpRequest)
  {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari
  xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest();
  }
else
  {// code for IE6, IE5
  xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
  }
xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function()
  {
  if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 && xmlhttp.status==200)
    {
    document.getElementById("txtHint").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText;
    }
  }
xmlhttp.open("GET","getuser.php?q="+str,true);
xmlhttp.send();
}
</script>
</head>
<body>

<form>
<select name="users" onchange="showUser(this.value)">
<option value="">Select a person:</option>
<option value="1">Peter Griffin</option>
<option value="2">Lois Griffin</option>
<option value="3">Glenn Quagmire</option>
<option value="4">Joseph Swanson</option>
</select>
</form>
<br />
<div id="txtHint"><b>Person info will be listed here.</b></div>

</body>
</html>

PHP code:

<?php
$q=$_GET["q"];

$con = mysql_connect('localhost', 'peter', 'abc123');
if (!$con)
  {
  die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
  }

mysql_select_db("ajax_demo", $con);

$sql="SELECT * FROM user WHERE id = '".$q."'";

$result = mysql_query($sql);

echo "<table border='1'>
<tr>
<th>Firstname</th>
<th>Lastname</th>
<th>Age</th>
<th>Hometown</th>
<th>Job</th>
</tr>";

while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result))
  {
  echo "<tr>";
  echo "<td>" . $row['FirstName'] . "</td>";
  echo "<td>" . $row['LastName'] . "</td>";
  echo "<td>" . $row['Age'] . "</td>";
  echo "<td>" . $row['Hometown'] . "</td>";
  echo "<td>" . $row['Job'] . "</td>";
  echo "</tr>";
  }
echo "</table>";

mysql_close($con);
?>

PHP date yesterday

date() itself is only for formatting, but it accepts a second parameter.

date("F j, Y", time() - 60 * 60 * 24);

To keep it simple I just subtract 24 hours from the unix timestamp.

A modern oop-approach is using DateTime

$date = new DateTime();
$date->sub(new DateInterval('P1D'));
echo $date->format('F j, Y') . "\n";

Or in your case (more readable/obvious)

$date = new DateTime();
$date->add(DateInterval::createFromDateString('yesterday'));
echo $date->format('F j, Y') . "\n";

(Because DateInterval is negative here, we must add() it here)

What is the difference between .py and .pyc files?

Python compiles the .py and saves files as .pyc so it can reference them in subsequent invocations.

There's no harm in deleting them, but they will save compilation time if you're doing lots of processing.

LaTeX Optional Arguments

All of the above show hard it can be to make a nice, flexible (or forbid an overloaded) function in LaTeX!!! (that TeX code looks like greek to me)

well, just to add my recent (albeit not as flexible) development, here's what I've recently used in my thesis doc, with

\usepackage{ifthen}  % provides conditonals...

Start the command, with the "optional" command set blank by default:

\newcommand {\figHoriz} [4] []  {

I then have the macro set a temporary variable, \temp{}, differently depending on whether or not the optional argument is blank. This could be extended to any passed argument.

\ifthenelse { \equal {#1} {} }  %if short caption not specified, use long caption (no slant)
    { \def\temp {\caption[#4]{\textsl{#4}}} }   % if #1 == blank
    { \def\temp {\caption[#1]{\textsl{#4}}} }   % else (not blank)

Then I run the macro using the \temp{} variable for the two cases. (Here it just sets the short-caption to equal the long caption if it wasn't specified by the user).

\begin{figure}[!]
    \begin{center}
        \includegraphics[width=350 pt]{#3}
        \temp %see above for caption etc.
        \label{#2}
    \end{center}
\end{figure}
}

In this case I only check for the single, "optional" argument that \newcommand{} provides. If you were to set it up for, say, 3 "optional" args, you'd still have to send the 3 blank args... eg.

\MyCommand {first arg} {} {} {}

which is pretty silly, I know, but that's about as far as I'm going to go with LaTeX - it's just not that sensical once I start looking at TeX code... I do like Mr. Robertson's xparse method though, perhaps I'll try it...

In Python, how do I split a string and keep the separators?

I found this generator based approach more satisfying:

def split_keep(string, sep):
    """Usage:
    >>> list(split_keep("a.b.c.d", "."))
    ['a.', 'b.', 'c.', 'd']
    """
    start = 0
    while True:
        end = string.find(sep, start) + 1
        if end == 0:
            break
        yield string[start:end]
        start = end
    yield string[start:]

It avoids the need to figure out the correct regex, while in theory should be fairly cheap. It doesn't create new string objects and, delegates most of the iteration work to the efficient find method.

... and in Python 3.8 it can be as short as:

def split_keep(string, sep):
    start = 0
    while (end := string.find(sep, start) + 1) > 0:
        yield string[start:end]
        start = end
    yield string[start:]

how can I enable PHP Extension intl?

jQuery: read text file from file system

If you include a file input box you can access the file as a base64 encoded string by using the FileReader object. If it's a text file a simple base64 decode will work to get the text.

Assuming the following HTML:

<input type="file" id="myfile" />

You can access using the following JQuery JS:

var file = $('#myfile').get(0).files[0];
var reader = new FileReader();
reader.onload = function (e) {
    //get the file result, split by comma to remove the prefix, then base64 decode the contents
    var decodedText = atob(e.target.result.split(',')[1]);
    //show the file contents
    alert(decoded);
};
reader.readAsDataURL(file);

If condition inside of map() React

You're mixing if statement with a ternary expression, that's why you're having a syntax error. It might be easier for you to understand what's going on if you extract mapping function outside of your render method:

renderItem = (id) => {
    // just standard if statement
    if (this.props.schema.collectionName.length < 0) {
        return (
            <Expandable>
                <ObjectDisplay
                    key={id}
                    parentDocumentId={id}
                    schema={schema[this.props.schema.collectionName]}
                    value={this.props.collection.documents[id]}
                />
            </Expandable>
        );
    }
    return (
        <h1>hejsan</h1>
    );
}

Then just call it when mapping:

render() {
    return (
        <div>
            <div className="box">
                {
                    this.props.collection.ids
                        .filter(
                            id =>
                            // note: this is only passed when in top level of document
                            this.props.collection.documents[id][
                                this.props.schema.foreignKey
                            ] === this.props.parentDocumentId
                        )
                        .map(this.renderItem)
                }
            </div>
        </div>
    )
}

Of course, you could have used the ternary expression as well, it's a matter of preference. What you use, however, affects the readability, so make sure to check different ways and tips to properly do conditional rendering in react and react native.

Eclipse won't compile/run java file

  • Make a project to put the files in.
    • File -> New -> Java Project
    • Make note of where that project was created (where your "workspace" is)
  • Move your java files into the src folder which is immediately inside the project's folder.
    • Find the project INSIDE Eclipse's Package Explorer (Window -> Show View -> Package Explorer)
    • Double-click on the project, then double-click on the 'src' folder, and finally double-click on one of the java files inside the 'src' folder (they should look familiar!)
  • Now you can run the files as expected.

Note the hollow 'J' in the image. That indicates that the file is not part of a project.

Hollow J means it is not part of a project

Sorting Characters Of A C++ String

There is a sorting algorithm in the standard library, in the header <algorithm>. It sorts inplace, so if you do the following, your original word will become sorted.

std::sort(word.begin(), word.end());

If you don't want to lose the original, make a copy first.

std::string sortedWord = word;
std::sort(sortedWord.begin(), sortedWord.end());

How can I bring my application window to the front?

Before stumbling onto this post, I came up with this solution - to toggle the TopMost property:

this.TopMost = true;
this.TopMost = false;

I have this code in my form's constructor, eg:

public MyForm()
{
    //...

    // Brint-to-front hack
    this.TopMost = true;
    this.TopMost = false;

    //...
}

delete all record from table in mysql

It’s because you tried to update a table without a WHERE that uses a KEY column.

The quick fix is to add SET SQL_SAFE_UPDATES=0; before your query :

SET SQL_SAFE_UPDATES=0;

Or

close the safe update mode. Edit -> Preferences -> SQL Editor -> SQL Editor remove Forbid UPDATE and DELETE statements without a WHERE clause (safe updates) .

BTW you can use TRUNCATE TABLE tablename; to delete all the records .

How to install 2 Anacondas (Python 2 and 3) on Mac OS

There is no need to install Anaconda again. Conda, the package manager for Anaconda, fully supports separated environments. The easiest way to create an environment for Python 2.7 is to do

conda create -n python2 python=2.7 anaconda

This will create an environment named python2 that contains the Python 2.7 version of Anaconda. You can activate this environment with

source activate python2

This will put that environment (typically ~/anaconda/envs/python2) in front in your PATH, so that when you type python at the terminal it will load the Python from that environment.

If you don't want all of Anaconda, you can replace anaconda in the command above with whatever packages you want. You can use conda to install packages in that environment later, either by using the -n python2 flag to conda, or by activating the environment.

How to use custom packages

For a project hosted on GitHub, here's what people usually do:

github.com/
  laike9m/
    myproject/
      mylib/
        mylib.go
        ...
      main.go

mylib.go

package mylib

...

main.go

import "github.com/laike9m/myproject/mylib"

how to prevent css inherit

Using the wildcard * selector in CSS to override inheritance for all attributes of an element (by setting these back to their initial state).

An example of its use:

}

Python conversion between coordinates

You can use the cmath module.

If the number is converted to a complex format, then it becomes easier to just call the polar method on the number.

import cmath
input_num = complex(1, 2) # stored as 1+2j
r, phi = cmath.polar(input_num)

Unix tail equivalent command in Windows Powershell

PowerShell Community Extensions (PSCX) provides the Get-FileTail cmdlet. It looks like a suitable solution for the task. Note: I did not try it with extremely large files but the description says it efficiently tails the contents and it is designed for large log files.

NAME
    Get-FileTail

SYNOPSIS
    PSCX Cmdlet: Tails the contents of a file - optionally waiting on new content.

SYNTAX
    Get-FileTail [-Path] <String[]> [-Count <Int32>] [-Encoding <EncodingParameter>] [-LineTerminator <String>] [-Wait] [<CommonParameters>]

    Get-FileTail [-LiteralPath] <String[]> [-Count <Int32>] [-Encoding <EncodingParameter>] [-LineTerminator <String>] [-Wait] [<CommonParameters>]

DESCRIPTION
    This implentation efficiently tails the cotents of a file by reading lines from the end rather then processing the entire file. This behavior is crucial for ef
    ficiently tailing large log files and large log files over a network. You can also specify the Wait parameter to have the cmdlet wait and display new content
    as it is written to the file. Use Ctrl+C to break out of the wait loop. Note that if an encoding is not specified, the cmdlet will attempt to auto-detect the
     encoding by reading the first character from the file. If no character haven't been written to the file yet, the cmdlet will default to using Unicode encoding
    . You can override this behavior by explicitly specifying the encoding via the Encoding parameter.

#pragma once vs include guards?

If you're positive that you will never use this code in a compiler that doesn't support it (Windows/VS, GCC, and Clang are examples of compilers that do support it), then you can certainly use #pragma once without worries.

You can also just use both (see example below), so that you get portability and compilation speedup on compatible systems

#pragma once
#ifndef _HEADER_H_
#define _HEADER_H_

...

#endif

Getting unique items from a list

In .Net 2.0 I`m pretty sure about this solution:

public IEnumerable<T> Distinct<T>(IEnumerable<T> source)
{
     List<T> uniques = new List<T>();
     foreach (T item in source)
     {
         if (!uniques.Contains(item)) uniques.Add(item);
     }
     return uniques;
}

Summarizing multiple columns with dplyr?

You can simply pass more arguments to summarise:

df %>% group_by(grp) %>% summarise(mean(a), mean(b), mean(c), mean(d))

Source: local data frame [3 x 5]

  grp  mean(a)  mean(b)  mean(c) mean(d)
1   1 2.500000 3.500000 2.000000     3.0
2   2 3.800000 3.200000 3.200000     2.8
3   3 3.666667 3.333333 2.333333     3.0

Change marker size in Google maps V3

The size arguments are in pixels. So, to double your example's marker size the fifth argument to the MarkerImage constructor would be:

new google.maps.Size(42,68)

I find it easiest to let the map API figure out the other arguments, unless I need something other than the bottom/center of the image as the anchor. In your case you could do:

var pinIcon = new google.maps.MarkerImage(
    "http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?chst=d_map_pin_letter&chld=%E2%80%A2|" + pinColor,
    null, /* size is determined at runtime */
    null, /* origin is 0,0 */
    null, /* anchor is bottom center of the scaled image */
    new google.maps.Size(42, 68)
);

How to replace a character from a String in SQL?

UPDATE databaseName.tableName
SET columnName = replace(columnName, '?', '''')
WHERE columnName LIKE '%?%'

Eclipse: "'Periodic workspace save.' has encountered a pro?blem."

I encountered the same problem , my resolution was to rename the the folder name under the workspace folder. i.e. com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.alertmanager.embedded was renamed to com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.alertmanager.2embeddedxx and rebuilt my project.

What is Node.js' Connect, Express and "middleware"?

[Update: As of its 4.0 release, Express no longer uses Connect. However, Express is still compatible with middleware written for Connect. My original answer is below.]

I'm glad you asked about this, because it's definitely a common point of confusion for folks looking at Node.js. Here's my best shot at explaining it:

  • Node.js itself offers an http module, whose createServer method returns an object that you can use to respond to HTTP requests. That object inherits the http.Server prototype.

  • Connect also offers a createServer method, which returns an object that inherits an extended version of http.Server. Connect's extensions are mainly there to make it easy to plug in middleware. That's why Connect describes itself as a "middleware framework," and is often analogized to Ruby's Rack.

  • Express does to Connect what Connect does to the http module: It offers a createServer method that extends Connect's Server prototype. So all of the functionality of Connect is there, plus view rendering and a handy DSL for describing routes. Ruby's Sinatra is a good analogy.

  • Then there are other frameworks that go even further and extend Express! Zappa, for instance, which integrates support for CoffeeScript, server-side jQuery, and testing.

Here's a concrete example of what's meant by "middleware": Out of the box, none of the above serves static files for you. But just throw in connect.static (a middleware that comes with Connect), configured to point to a directory, and your server will provide access to the files in that directory. Note that Express provides Connect's middlewares also; express.static is the same as connect.static. (Both were known as staticProvider until recently.)

My impression is that most "real" Node.js apps are being developed with Express these days; the features it adds are extremely useful, and all of the lower-level functionality is still there if you want it.

Can Mysql Split a column?

Here is another variant I posted on related question. The REGEX check to see if you are out of bounds is useful, so for a table column you would put it in the where clause.

SET @Array = 'one,two,three,four';
SET @ArrayIndex = 2;
SELECT CASE
    WHEN @Array REGEXP CONCAT('((,).*){',@ArrayIndex,'}')
    THEN SUBSTRING_INDEX(SUBSTRING_INDEX(@Array,',',@ArrayIndex+1),',',-1)
    ELSE NULL
END AS Result;
  • SUBSTRING_INDEX(string, delim, n) returns the first n
  • SUBSTRING_INDEX(string, delim, -1) returns the last only
  • REGEXP '((delim).*){n}' checks if there are n delimiters (i.e. you are in bounds)

@Directive vs @Component in Angular

In a programming context, directives provide guidance to the compiler to alter how it would otherwise process input, i.e change some behaviour.

“Directives allow you to attach behavior to elements in the DOM.”

directives are split into the 3 categories:

  • Attribute
  • Structural
  • Component

Yes, in Angular 2, Components are a type of Directive. According to the Doc,

“Angular components are a subset of directives. Unlike directives, components always have a template and only one component can be instantiated per an element in a template.”

Angular 2 Components are an implementation of the Web Component concept. Web Components consists of several separate technologies. You can think of Web Components as reusable user interface widgets that are created using open Web technology.

  • So in summary directives The mechanism by which we attach behavior to elements in the DOM, consisting of Structural, Attribute and Component types.
  • Components are the specific type of directive that allows us to utilize web component functionality AKA reusability - encapsulated, reusable elements available throughout our application.

Installing OpenCV 2.4.3 in Visual C++ 2010 Express

1. Installing OpenCV 2.4.3

First, get OpenCV 2.4.3 from sourceforge.net. Its a self-extracting so just double click to start the installation. Install it in a directory, say C:\.

OpenCV self-extractor

Wait until all files get extracted. It will create a new directory C:\opencv which contains OpenCV header files, libraries, code samples, etc.

Now you need to add the directory C:\opencv\build\x86\vc10\bin to your system PATH. This directory contains OpenCV DLLs required for running your code.

Open Control PanelSystemAdvanced system settingsAdvanced Tab → Environment variables...

enter image description here

On the System Variables section, select Path (1), Edit (2), and type C:\opencv\build\x86\vc10\bin; (3), then click Ok.

On some computers, you may need to restart your computer for the system to recognize the environment path variables.

This will completes the OpenCV 2.4.3 installation on your computer.

2. Create a new project and set up Visual C++

Open Visual C++ and select FileNewProject...Visual C++Empty Project. Give a name for your project (e.g: cvtest) and set the project location (e.g: c:\projects).

New project dialog

Click Ok. Visual C++ will create an empty project.

VC++ empty project

Make sure that "Debug" is selected in the solution configuration combobox. Right-click cvtest and select PropertiesVC++ Directories.

Project property dialog

Select Include Directories to add a new entry and type C:\opencv\build\include.

Include directories dialog

Click Ok to close the dialog.

Back to the Property dialog, select Library Directories to add a new entry and type C:\opencv\build\x86\vc10\lib.

Library directories dialog

Click Ok to close the dialog.

Back to the property dialog, select LinkerInputAdditional Dependencies to add new entries. On the popup dialog, type the files below:

opencv_calib3d243d.lib
opencv_contrib243d.lib
opencv_core243d.lib
opencv_features2d243d.lib
opencv_flann243d.lib
opencv_gpu243d.lib
opencv_haartraining_engined.lib
opencv_highgui243d.lib
opencv_imgproc243d.lib
opencv_legacy243d.lib
opencv_ml243d.lib
opencv_nonfree243d.lib
opencv_objdetect243d.lib
opencv_photo243d.lib
opencv_stitching243d.lib
opencv_ts243d.lib
opencv_video243d.lib
opencv_videostab243d.lib

Note that the filenames end with "d" (for "debug"). Also note that if you have installed another version of OpenCV (say 2.4.9) these filenames will end with 249d instead of 243d (opencv_core249d.lib..etc).

enter image description here

Click Ok to close the dialog. Click Ok on the project properties dialog to save all settings.

NOTE:

These steps will configure Visual C++ for the "Debug" solution. For "Release" solution (optional), you need to repeat adding the OpenCV directories and in Additional Dependencies section, use:

opencv_core243.lib
opencv_imgproc243.lib
...

instead of:

opencv_core243d.lib
opencv_imgproc243d.lib
...

You've done setting up Visual C++, now is the time to write the real code. Right click your project and select AddNew Item...Visual C++C++ File.

Add new source file

Name your file (e.g: loadimg.cpp) and click Ok. Type the code below in the editor:

#include <opencv2/highgui/highgui.hpp>
#include <iostream>

using namespace cv;
using namespace std;

int main()
{
    Mat im = imread("c:/full/path/to/lena.jpg");
    if (im.empty())
    {
        cout << "Cannot load image!" << endl;
        return -1;
    }
    imshow("Image", im);
    waitKey(0);
}

The code above will load c:\full\path\to\lena.jpg and display the image. You can use any image you like, just make sure the path to the image is correct.

Type F5 to compile the code, and it will display the image in a nice window.

First OpenCV program

And that is your first OpenCV program!

3. Where to go from here?

Now that your OpenCV environment is ready, what's next?

  1. Go to the samples dir → c:\opencv\samples\cpp.
  2. Read and compile some code.
  3. Write your own code.

Gradle - Move a folder from ABC to XYZ

Your task declaration is incorrectly combining the Copy task type and project.copy method, resulting in a task that has nothing to copy and thus never runs. Besides, Copy isn't the right choice for renaming a directory. There is no Gradle API for renaming, but a bit of Groovy code (leveraging Java's File API) will do. Assuming Project1 is the project directory:

task renABCToXYZ {     doLast {         file("ABC").renameTo(file("XYZ"))     } }

Looking at the bigger picture, it's probably better to add the renaming logic (i.e. the doLast task action) to the task that produces ABC.

Git command to show which specific files are ignored by .gitignore

Notes:

Also interesting (mentioned in qwertymk's answer), you can also use the git check-ignore -v command, at least on Unix (doesn't work in a CMD Windows session)

git check-ignore *
git check-ignore -v *

The second one displays the actual rule of the .gitignore which makes a file to be ignored in your git repo.
On Unix, using "What expands to all files in current directory recursively?" and a bash4+:

git check-ignore **/*

(or a find -exec command)

Note: https://stackoverflow.com/users/351947/Rafi B. suggests in the comments to avoid the (risky) globstar:

git check-ignore -v $(find . -type f -print)

Make sure to exclude the files from the .git/ subfolder though.

Original answer 42009)

git ls-files -i

should work, except its source code indicates:

if (show_ignored && !exc_given) {
                fprintf(stderr, "%s: --ignored needs some exclude pattern\n",
                        argv[0]);

exc_given ?

It turns out it need one more parameter after the -i to actually list anything:

Try:

git ls-files -i --exclude-from=[Path_To_Your_Global].gitignore

(but that would only list your cached (non-ignored) object, with a filter, so that is not quite what you want)

Example:

$ cat .git/ignore
# ignore objects and archives, anywhere in the tree.
*.[oa]
$ cat Documentation/.gitignore
# ignore generated html files,
*.html
# except foo.html which is maintained by hand
!foo.html
$ git ls-files --ignored \
    --exclude='Documentation/*.[0-9]' \
    --exclude-from=.git/ignore \
    --exclude-per-directory=.gitignore

Actually, in my 'gitignore' file (called 'exclude'), I find a command line that could help you:

F:\prog\git\test\.git\info>type exclude
# git ls-files --others --exclude-from=.git/info/exclude
# Lines that start with '#' are comments.
# For a project mostly in C, the following would be a good set of
# exclude patterns (uncomment them if you want to use them):
# *.[oa]
# *~

So....

git ls-files --ignored --exclude-from=.git/info/exclude
git ls-files -i --exclude-from=.git/info/exclude

git ls-files --others --ignored --exclude-standard
git ls-files -o -i --exclude-standard

should do the trick.

(Thanks to honzajde pointing out in the comments that git ls-files -o -i --exclude-from... does not include cached files: only git ls-files -i --exclude-from... (without -o) does.)

As mentioned in the ls-files man page, --others is the important part, in order to show you non-cached, non-committed, normally-ignored files.

--exclude_standard is not just a shortcut, but a way to include all standard "ignored patterns" settings.

exclude-standard
Add the standard git exclusions: .git/info/exclude, .gitignore in each directory, and the user's global exclusion file.

jQuery, get ID of each element in a class using .each?

patrick dw's answer is right on.

For kicks and giggles I thought I would post a simple way to return an array of all the IDs.

var arrayOfIds = $.map($(".myClassName"), function(n, i){
  return n.id;
});
alert(arrayOfIds);

I don't know why

cfg_name_unique NOT LIKE '%categories%'

still returns those two values, but maybe exclude them explicit:

    WHERE developer_configurations_cms.cat_id = '1'
    AND developer_configurations_cms.cfg_variables LIKE '%parent_id=2%'
    AND developer_configurations_cms.cfg_name_unique NOT LIKE '%categories%'
    AND developer_configurations_cms.cfg_name_unique NOT IN ('categories_posts', 'categories_news')

Converting .NET DateTime to JSON

You can try a 3rd party library like json.net There's documention on the project site. It does say it requires .net 3.5.

Otherwise there's another one called Nii.json which i believe is a port from java. I found a link to it on this blog

MySql Proccesslist filled with "Sleep" Entries leading to "Too many Connections"?

Before increasing the max_connections variable, you have to check how many non-interactive connection you have by running show processlist command.

If you have many sleep connection, you have to decrease the value of the "wait_timeout" variable to close non-interactive connection after waiting some times.

  • To show the wait_timeout value:

SHOW SESSION VARIABLES LIKE 'wait_timeout';

+---------------+-------+

| Variable_name | Value |

+---------------+-------+

| wait_timeout | 28800 |

+---------------+-------+

the value is in second, it means that non-interactive connection still up to 8 hours.

  • To change the value of "wait_timeout" variable:

SET session wait_timeout=600; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)

After 10 minutes if the sleep connection still sleeping the mysql or MariaDB drop that connection.

Extracting text OpenCV

        Imgcodecs.imwrite("abc1.png", img1);

Java 8 forEach with index

Since you are iterating over an indexable collection (lists, etc.), I presume that you can then just iterate with the indices of the elements:

IntStream.range(0, params.size())
  .forEach(idx ->
    query.bind(
      idx,
      params.get(idx)
    )
  )
;

The resulting code is similar to iterating a list with the classic i++-style for loop, except with easier parallelizability (assuming, of course, that concurrent read-only access to params is safe).

Should methods in a Java interface be declared with or without a public access modifier?

It's totally subjective. I omit the redundant public modifier as it seems like clutter. As mentioned by others - consistency is the key to this decision.

It's interesting to note that the C# language designers decided to enforce this. Declaring an interface method as public in C# is actually a compile error. Consistency is probably not important across languages though, so I guess this is not really directly relevant to Java.

How to add link to flash banner

If you have a flash FLA file that shows the FLV movie you can add a button inside the FLA file. This button can be given an action to load the URL.

on (release) {
  getURL("http://someurl/");
}

To make the button transparent you can place a square inside it that is moved to the hit-area frame of the button.

I think it would go too far to explain into depth with pictures how to go about in stackoverflow.

How to open a specific port such as 9090 in Google Compute Engine

I had the same problem as you do and I could solve it by following @CarlosRojas instructions with a little difference. Instead of create a new firewall rule I edited the default-allow-internal one to accept traffic from anywhere since creating new rules didn't make any difference.

Value Change Listener to JTextField

I know this relates to a really old problem, however, it caused me some problems too. As kleopatra responded in a comment above, I solved the problem with a JFormattedTextField. However, the solution requires a bit more work, but is neater.

The JFormattedTextField doesn't by default trigger a property change after every text changes in the field. The default constructor of JFormattedTextField does not create a formatter.

However, to do what the OP suggested, you need to use a formatter which will invoke the commitEdit() method after each valid edit of the field. The commitEdit() method is what triggers the property change from what I can see and without the formatter, this is triggered by default on a focus change or when the enter key is pressed.

See http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/components/formattedtextfield.html#value for more details.

Create a default formatter (DefaultFormatter) object to be passed to the JFormattedTextField either via its constructor or a setter method. One method of the default formatter is setCommitsOnValidEdit(boolean commit), which sets the formatter to trigger the commitEdit() method every time the text is changed. This can then be picked up using a PropertyChangeListener and the propertyChange() method.

Why can't C# interfaces contain fields?

Though many of the other answers are correct at the semantic level, I find it interesting to also approach these sorts of questions from the implementation details level.

An interface can be thought of as a collection of slots, which contain methods. When a class implements an interface, the class is required to tell the runtime how to fill in all the required slots. When you say

interface IFoo { void M(); }
class Foo : IFoo { public void M() { ... } }

the class says "when you create an instance of me, stuff a reference to Foo.M in the slot for IFoo.M.

Then when you do a call:

IFoo ifoo = new Foo();
ifoo.M();

the compiler generates code that says "ask the object what method is in the slot for IFoo.M, and call that method.

If an interface is a collection of slots that contain methods, then some of those slots can also contain the get and set methods of a property, the get and set methods of an indexer, and the add and remove methods of an event. But a field is not a method. There's no "slot" associated with a field that you can then "fill in" with a reference to the field location. And therefore, interfaces can define methods, properties, indexers and events, but not fields.

What does Docker add to lxc-tools (the userspace LXC tools)?

Dockers use images which are build in layers. This adds a lot in terms of portability, sharing, versioning and other features. These images are very easy to port or transfer and since they are in layers, changes in subsequent versions are added in form of layers over previous layers. So, while porting many a times you don't need to port the base layers. Dockers have containers which run these images with execution environment contained, they add changes as new layers providing easy version control.

Apart from that Docker Hub is a good registry with thousands of public images, where you can find images which have OS and other softwares installed. So, you can get a pretty good head start for your application.

How do I calculate the MD5 checksum of a file in Python?

In regards to your error and what's missing in your code. m is a name which is not defined for getmd5() function.

No offence, I know you are a beginner, but your code is all over the place. Let's look at your issues one by one :)

First, you are not using hashlib.md5.hexdigest() method correctly. Please refer explanation on hashlib functions in Python Doc Library. The correct way to return MD5 for provided string is to do something like this:

>>> import hashlib
>>> hashlib.md5("filename.exe").hexdigest()
'2a53375ff139d9837e93a38a279d63e5'

However, you have a bigger problem here. You are calculating MD5 on a file name string, where in reality MD5 is calculated based on file contents. You will need to basically read file contents and pipe it though MD5. My next example is not very efficient, but something like this:

>>> import hashlib
>>> hashlib.md5(open('filename.exe','rb').read()).hexdigest()
'd41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e'

As you can clearly see second MD5 hash is totally different from the first one. The reason for that is that we are pushing contents of the file through, not just file name.

A simple solution could be something like that:

# Import hashlib library (md5 method is part of it)
import hashlib

# File to check
file_name = 'filename.exe'

# Correct original md5 goes here
original_md5 = '5d41402abc4b2a76b9719d911017c592'

# Open,close, read file and calculate MD5 on its contents
with open(file_name) as file_to_check:
    # read contents of the file
    data = file_to_check.read()
    # pipe contents of the file through
    md5_returned = hashlib.md5(data).hexdigest()

# Finally compare original MD5 with freshly calculated
if original_md5 == md5_returned:
    print "MD5 verified."
else:
    print "MD5 verification failed!."

Please look at the post Python: Generating a MD5 checksum of a file. It explains in detail a couple of ways how it can be achieved efficiently.

Best of luck.

Use URI builder in Android or create URL with variables

Let's say that I want to create the following URL:

https://www.myawesomesite.com/turtles/types?type=1&sort=relevance#section-name

To build this with the Uri.Builder I would do the following.

Uri.Builder builder = new Uri.Builder();
builder.scheme("https")
    .authority("www.myawesomesite.com")
    .appendPath("turtles")
    .appendPath("types")
    .appendQueryParameter("type", "1")
    .appendQueryParameter("sort", "relevance")
    .fragment("section-name");
String myUrl = builder.build().toString();

Solving Quadratic Equation

give input through your keyboard

a=float(input("enter the 1st number : "))
b=float(input("enter the 2nd number : "))
c=float(input("enter the 3rd number : "))

calculate the discriminant

d = (b**2) - (4*a*c)

possible solution are

sol_1 = (-b-(0.5**d))/(2*a)
sol_2 = (-b+(0.5**d))/(2*a)

print the result

print('The solution are  %0.f,%0.f'%(sol_1,sol_2))

What is DOM element?

As per W3C: DOM permits programs and scripts to dynamically access and update the content, structure and style of XML or HTML documents.

DOM is composed of:

  • set of objects/elements
  • a structure of how these objects/elements can be combined
  • and an interface to access and modify them

Can you recommend a free light-weight MySQL GUI for Linux?

i suggest using phpmyadmin

it’s definitely the best free tool out there and it works on every system with php+mysql

Is there an SQLite equivalent to MySQL's DESCRIBE [table]?

To prevent that people are mislead by some of the comments to the other answers:

  1. If .schema or query from sqlite_master not gives any output, it indicates a non-existent tablename, e.g. this may also be caused by a ; semicolon at the end for .schema, .tables, ... Or just because the table really not exists. That .schema just doesn't work is very unlikely and then a bug report should be filed at the sqlite project.

... .schema can only be used from a command line; the above commands > can be run as a query through a library (Python, C#, etc.). – Mark Rushakoff Jul 25 '10 at 21:09

  1. 'can only be used from a command line' may mislead people. Almost any (likely every?) programming language can call other programs/commands. Therefore the quoted comment is unlucky as calling another program, in this case sqlite, is more likely to be supported than that the language provides a wrapper/library for every program (which not only is prone to incompleteness by the very nature of the masses of programs out there, but also is counter acting single-source principle, complicating maintenance, furthering the chaos of data in the world).

How to set time delay in javascript

I'll give my input because it helps me understand what im doing.

To make an auto scrolling slide show that has a 3 second wait I did the following:

var isPlaying = true;

function autoPlay(playing){
   var delayTime = 3000;
   var timeIncrement = 3000;

   if(playing){
        for(var i=0; i<6; i++){//I have 6 images
            setTimeout(nextImage, delayTime);
            delayTime += timeIncrement;
        }
        isPlaying = false;

   }else{
       alert("auto play off");
   }
}

autoPlay(isPlaying);

Remember that when executing setTimeout() like this; it will execute all time out functions as if they where executed at the same time assuming that in setTimeout(nextImage, delayTime);delay time is a static 3000 milliseconds.

What I did to account for this was add an extra 3000 milli/s after each for loop incrementation via delayTime += timeIncrement;.

For those who care here is what my nextImage() looks like:

function nextImage(){
    if(currentImg === 1){//change to img 2
        for(var i=0; i<6; i++){
            images[i].style.zIndex = "0";
        }
        images[1].style.zIndex = "1";
        imgNumber.innerHTML = imageNumber_Text[1];
        imgDescription.innerHTML = imgDescText[1];

        currentImg = 2;
    }
    else if(currentImg === 2){//change to img 3
        for(var i=0; i<6; i++){
            images[i].style.zIndex = "0";
        }
        images[2].style.zIndex = "1";
        imgNumber.innerHTML = imageNumber_Text[2];
        imgDescription.innerHTML = imgDescText[2];

        currentImg = 3;
    }
    else if(currentImg === 3){//change to img 4
        for(var i=0; i<6; i++){
            images[i].style.zIndex = "0";
        }
        images[3].style.zIndex = "1";
        imgNumber.innerHTML = imageNumber_Text[3];
        imgDescription.innerHTML = imgDescText[3];

        currentImg = 4;
    }
    else if(currentImg === 4){//change to img 5
        for(var i=0; i<6; i++){
            images[i].style.zIndex = "0";
        }
        images[4].style.zIndex = "1";
        imgNumber.innerHTML = imageNumber_Text[4];
        imgDescription.innerHTML = imgDescText[4];

        currentImg = 5;
    }
    else if(currentImg === 5){//change to img 6
    for(var i=0; i<6; i++){
            images[i].style.zIndex = "0";
        }
        images[5].style.zIndex = "1";
        imgNumber.innerHTML = imageNumber_Text[5];
        imgDescription.innerHTML = imgDescText[5];

        currentImg = 6;
    }
    else if(currentImg === 6){//change to img 1
        for(var i=0; i<6; i++){
            images[i].style.zIndex = "0";
        }
        images[0].style.zIndex = "1";
        imgNumber.innerHTML = imageNumber_Text[0];
        imgDescription.innerHTML = imgDescText[0];

        currentImg = 1;

Font.createFont(..) set color and size (java.awt.Font)

Font's don't have a color; only when using the font you can set the color of the component. For example, when using a JTextArea:

JTextArea txt = new JTextArea();
Font font = new Font("Verdana", Font.BOLD, 12);
txt.setFont(font);
txt.setForeground(Color.BLUE);

According to this link, the createFont() method creates a new Font object with a point size of 1 and style PLAIN. So, if you want to increase the size of the Font, you need to do this:

 Font font = Font.createFont(Font.TRUETYPE_FONT, new File("A.ttf"));
 return font.deriveFont(12f);

Excel doesn't update value unless I hit Enter

I Encounter this problem before. I suspect that is some of ur cells are link towards other sheet, which the other sheets is returning #NAME? which ends up the current sheets is not working on calculation.

MySQL selecting yesterday's date

While the chosen answer is correct and more concise, I'd argue for the structure noted in other answers:

SELECT * FROM your_table
WHERE UNIX_TIMESTAMP(DateVisited) >= UNIX_TIMESTAMP(CAST(NOW() - INTERVAL 1 DAY AS DATE))
  AND UNIX_TIMESTAMP(DateVisited) <= UNIX_TIMESTAMP(CAST(NOW() AS DATE));

If you just need a bare date without timestamp you could also write it as the following:

SELECT * FROM your_table
WHERE DateVisited >= CAST(NOW() - INTERVAL 1 DAY AS DATE)
  AND DateVisited <= CAST(NOW() AS DATE);

The reason for using CAST versus SUBDATE is CAST is ANSI SQL syntax. SUBDATE is a MySQL specific implementation of the date arithmetic component of CAST. Getting into the habit of using ANSI syntax can reduce headaches should you ever have to migrate to a different database. It's also good to be in the habit as a professional practice as you'll almost certainly work with other DBMS' in the future.

None of the major DBMS systems are fully ANSI compliant, but most of them implement the broad set of ANSI syntax whereas nearly none of them outside of MySQL and its descendants (MariaDB, Percona, etc) will implement MySQL-specific syntax.

Why are C# 4 optional parameters defined on interface not enforced on implementing class?

Optional parameters are kind of like a macro substitution from what I understand. They are not really optional from the method's point of view. An artifact of that is the behavior you see where you get different results if you cast to an interface.

How to upload file using Selenium WebDriver in Java

If you have a text box to type the file path, just use sendkeys to input the file path and click on submit button. If there is no text box to type the file path and only able to click on browse button and to select the file from windows popup, you can use AutoIt tool, see the step below to use AutoIt for the same,

  1. Download and Install Autoit tool from http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/

  2. Open Programs -> Autoit tool -> SciTE Script Editor.

  3. Paste the following code in Autoit editor and save it as “filename.exe “(eg: new.exe)

    Then compile and build the file to make it exe. (Tools ? Compile)

Autoit Code:

WinWaitActive("File Upload"); Name of the file upload window (Windows Popup Name: File Upload)
Send("logo.jpg"); File name
Send("{ENTER}")

Then Compile and Build from Tools menu of the Autoit tool -> SciTE Script Editor.

Paste the below Java code in Eclipse editor and save

Java Code:

driver.findElement(By.id("uploadbutton")).click; // open the Upload window using selenium
Thread.sleep("20000"); // wait for page load
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler " + "C:\\Documents and Settings\\new.exe"); // Give  path where the exe is saved.

SQL server 2008 backup error - Operating system error 5(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105)

I've got the same error. I have been trying to fixing this by setting higher permission to account running SQL Client service, however it didnt help. The problem was that I run MS Sql Management studio just within my account. So, next time... assure that you are running it as Run as Administrator, if using Win7 with UAC enabled.

Understanding checked vs unchecked exceptions in Java

If anybody cares for yet another proof to dislike checked exceptions, see the first few paragraphs of the popular JSON library:

"Although this is a checked exception, it is rarely recoverable. Most callers should simply wrap this exception in an unchecked exception and rethrow: "

So why in the world would anyone make developers keep checking the exception, if we should "simply wrap it" instead? lol

Parsing GET request parameters in a URL that contains another URL

The correct php way is to use parse_url()

http://php.net/manual/en/function.parse-url.php

(from php manual)

This function parses a URL and returns an associative array containing any of the various components of the URL that are present.

This function is not meant to validate the given URL, it only breaks it up into the above listed parts. Partial URLs are also accepted, parse_url() tries its best to parse them correctly.

Using FileUtils in eclipse

I have come accross the above issue. I have solved it as below. Its working fine for me.

  1. Download the 'org.apache.commons.io.jar' file on navigating to [org.apache.commons.io.FileUtils] [ http://www.java2s.com/Code/Jar/o/Downloadorgapachecommonsiojar.htm ]

  2. Extract the downloaded zip file to a specified folder.

  3. Update the project properties by using below navigation Right click on project>Select Properties>Select Java Build Path> Click Libraries tab>Click Add External Class Folder button>Select the folder where zip file is extracted for org.apache.commons.io.FileUtils.zip file.

  4. Now access the File Utils.

How to make node.js require absolute? (instead of relative)

i created a node module called "rekiure"

it allows you to require without the use of relative paths

https://npmjs.org/package/rekuire

it is super easy to use

How might I schedule a C# Windows Service to perform a task daily?

I would suggest that you use a timer, but set it to check every 45 seconds, not minute. Otherwise you can run into situations where with heavy load, the check for a particular minute is missed, because between the time the timer triggers and the time your code runs and checks the current time, you might have missed the target minute.

Changing a specific column name in pandas DataFrame

Pandas 0.21 now has an axis parameter

The rename method has gained an axis parameter to match most of the rest of the pandas API.

So, in addition to this:

df.rename(columns = {'two':'new_name'})

You can do:

df.rename({'two':'new_name'}, axis=1)

or

df.rename({'two':'new_name'}, axis='columns')

Trim Whitespaces (New Line and Tab space) in a String in Oracle

You could use both LTRIM and RTRIM.

select rtrim(ltrim('abcdab','ab'),'ab') from dual;

If you want to trim CHR(13) only when it comes with a CHR(10) it gets more complicated. Firstly, translated the combined string to a single character. Then LTRIM/RTRIM that character, then replace the single character back to the combined string.

select replace(rtrim(ltrim(replace('abccccabcccaab','ab','#'),'#'),'#'),'#','ab') from dual;

Where does Java's String constant pool live, the heap or the stack?

To the great answers that already included here I want to add something that missing in my perspective - an illustration.

As you already JVM divides the allocated memory to a Java program into two parts. one is stack and another one is heap. Stack is used for execution purpose and heap is used for storage purpose. In that heap memory, JVM allocates some memory specially meant for string literals. This part of the heap memory is called string constants pool.

So for example, if you init the following objects:

String s1 = "abc";
String s2 = "123";
String obj1 = new String("abc");
String obj2 = new String("def");
String obj3 = new String("456);

String literals s1 and s2 will go to string constant pool, objects obj1, obj2, obj3 to the heap. All of them, will be referenced from the Stack.

Also, please note that "abc" will appear in heap and in string constant pool. Why is String s1 = "abc" and String obj1 = new String("abc") will be created this way? It's because String obj1 = new String("abc") explicitly creates a new and referentially distinct instance of a String object and String s1 = "abc" may reuse an instance from the string constant pool if one is available. Best way to specify whitespace in a String.Split operation

According to the documentation :

If the separator parameter is null or contains no characters, white-space characters are assumed to be the delimiters. White-space characters are defined by the Unicode standard and return true if they are passed to the Char.IsWhiteSpace method.

So just call myStr.Split(); There's no need to pass in anything because separator is a params array.

How to send parameters from a notification-click to an activity?

If you use

android:taskAffinity="myApp.widget.notify.activity"
android:excludeFromRecents="true"

in your AndroidManifest.xml file for the Activity to launch, you have to use the following in your intent:

Intent notificationClick = new Intent(context, NotifyActivity.class);
    Bundle bdl = new Bundle();
    bdl.putSerializable(NotifyActivity.Bundle_myItem, myItem);
    notificationClick.putExtras(bdl);
    notificationClick.setData(Uri.parse(notificationClick.toUri(Intent.URI_INTENT_SCHEME) + myItem.getId()));
    notificationClick.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TASK | Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); // schließt tasks der app und startet einen seperaten neuen

    TaskStackBuilder stackBuilder = TaskStackBuilder.create(context);
    stackBuilder.addParentStack(NotifyActivity.class);
    stackBuilder.addNextIntent(notificationClick);

    PendingIntent notificationPendingIntent = stackBuilder.getPendingIntent(0, PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT);
    mBuilder.setContentIntent(notificationPendingIntent);

Important is to set unique data e.g. using an unique id like:

notificationClick.setData(Uri.parse(notificationClick.toUri(Intent.URI_INTENT_SCHEME) + myItem.getId()));

How to edit the legend entry of a chart in Excel?

Left Click on chart. «PivotTable Field List» will appear on right. On the right down quarter of PivotTable Field List (S Values), you see the names of the legends. Left Click on the legend name. Left Click on the «Value field settings». At the top there is «Source Name». You can’t change it. Below there is «Custom Name». Change the Custom Name as you wish. Now the legend name on the chart has the new name you gave.

How do I convert an interval into a number of hours with postgres?

Probably the easiest way is:

SELECT EXTRACT(epoch FROM my_interval)/3600

Row count where data exists

lastrow = Sheet1.Range("A#").End(xlDown).Row

This is more easy to determine the row count.
Make sure you declare the right variable when it comes to larger rows.
By the way the '#' sign must be a number where you want to start the row count.

How can I pad an int with leading zeros when using cout << operator?

cout.fill('*');
cout << -12345 << endl; // print default value with no field width
cout << setw(10) << -12345 << endl; // print default with field width
cout << setw(10) << left << -12345 << endl; // print left justified
cout << setw(10) << right << -12345 << endl; // print right justified
cout << setw(10) << internal << -12345 << endl; // print internally justified

This produces the output:

-12345
****-12345
-12345****
****-12345
-****12345

Arguments to main in C

Had made just a small change to @anthony code so we can get nicely formatted output with argument numbers and values. Somehow easier to read on output when you have multiple arguments:

#include <stdio.h>

int main(int argc, char *argv[])
{
    printf("The following arguments were passed to main():\n");
    printf("argnum \t value \n");
    for (int i = 0; i<argc; i++) printf("%d \t %s \n", i, argv[i]);
    printf("\n");

    return 0;
}

And output is similar to:

The following arguments were passed to main():
0        D:\Projects\test\vcpp\bcppcomp1\Debug\bcppcomp.exe
1        -P
2        TestHostAttoshiba
3        _http._tcp
4        local
5        80
6        MyNewArgument
7        200.124.211.235
8        type=NewHost
9        test=yes
10       result=output

How to find all the dependencies of a table in sql server

In SQL Server 2008 or above I use the following query to find all the dependant stored procedures, user defined functions, triggers, etc. for a given table:

SELECT

Why does .json() return a promise?

Also, what helped me understand this particular scenario that you described is the Promise API documentation, specifically where it explains how the promised returned by the then method will be resolved differently depending on what the handler fn returns:

if the handler function:

  • returns a value, the promise returned by then gets resolved with the returned value as its value;
  • throws an error, the promise returned by then gets rejected with the thrown error as its value;
  • returns an already resolved promise, the promise returned by then gets resolved with that promise's value as its value;
  • returns an already rejected promise, the promise returned by then gets rejected with that promise's value as its value.
  • returns another pending promise object, the resolution/rejection of the promise returned by then will be subsequent to the resolution/rejection of the promise returned by the handler. Also, the value of the promise returned by then will be the same as the value of the promise returned by the handler.

How to get memory usage at runtime using C++?

The existing answers are better for how to get the correct value, but I can at least explain why getrusage isn't working for you.

man 2 getrusage:

The above struct [rusage] was taken from BSD 4.3 Reno. Not all fields are meaningful under Linux. Right now (Linux 2.4, 2.6) only the fields ru_utime, ru_stime, ru_minflt, ru_majflt, and ru_nswap are maintained.

How to make join queries using Sequelize on Node.js

User.hasMany(Post, {foreignKey: 'user_id'})
Post.belongsTo(User, {foreignKey: 'user_id'})

Post.find({ where: { ...}, include: [User]})

Which will give you

SELECT
  `posts`.*,
  `users`.`username` AS `users.username`, `users`.`email` AS `users.email`,
  `users`.`password` AS `users.password`, `users`.`sex` AS `users.sex`,
  `users`.`day_birth` AS `users.day_birth`,
  `users`.`month_birth` AS `users.month_birth`,
  `users`.`year_birth` AS `users.year_birth`, `users`.`id` AS `users.id`,
  `users`.`createdAt` AS `users.createdAt`,
  `users`.`updatedAt` AS `users.updatedAt`
FROM `posts`
  LEFT OUTER JOIN `users` AS `users` ON `users`.`id` = `posts`.`user_id`;

The query above might look a bit complicated compared to what you posted, but what it does is basically just aliasing all columns of the users table to make sure they are placed into the correct model when returned and not mixed up with the posts model

Other than that you'll notice that it does a JOIN instead of selecting from two tables, but the result should be the same

Java NoSuchAlgorithmException - SunJSSE, sun.security.ssl.SSLContextImpl$DefaultSSLContext

I've had a similar issue with this error. In my case, I was entering the incorrect password for the Keystore.

I changed the password for the Keystore to match what I was entering (I didn't want to change the password I was entering), but it still gave the same error.

keytool -storepasswd -keystore keystore.jks

Problem was that I also needed to change the Key's password within the Keystore.

When I initially created the Keystore, the Key was created with the same password as the Keystore (I accepted this default option). So I had to also change the Key's password as follows:

keytool -keypasswd -alias my.alias -keystore keystore.jks

How to include header files in GCC search path?

Using environment variable is sometimes more convenient when you do not control the build scripts / process.

For C includes use C_INCLUDE_PATH.

For C++ includes use CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH.

See this link for other gcc environment variables.

Example usage in MacOS / Linux

# `pip install` will automatically run `gcc` using parameters
# specified in the `asyncpg` package (that I do not control)

C_INCLUDE_PATH=/home/scott/.pyenv/versions/3.7.9/include/python3.7m pip install asyncpg

Example usage in Windows

set C_INCLUDE_PATH="C:\Users\Scott\.pyenv\versions\3.7.9\include\python3.7m"

pip install asyncpg

# clear the environment variable so it doesn't affect other builds
set C_INCLUDE_PATH=

Reload browser window after POST without prompting user to resend POST data

You can take advantage of the HTML prompt to unload mechanism, by specifying no unload handler:

window.onbeforeunload = null;
window.location.replace(URL);

See the notes section of the WindowEventHandlers.onbeforeunload for more information.

How to use cookies in Python Requests

You can use a session object. It stores the cookies so you can make requests, and it handles the cookies for you

s = requests.Session()
# all cookies received will be stored in the session object

s.post('http://www...',data=payload)
s.get('http://www...')

Docs: https://requests.readthedocs.io/en/master/user/advanced/#session-objects

You can also save the cookie data to an external file, and then reload them to keep session persistent without having to login every time you run the script:

Get Android .apk file VersionName or VersionCode WITHOUT installing apk

At the moment, this can be done as follows

$ANDROID_HOME/build-tools/28.0.3/aapt dump badging /<path to>/<app name>.apk

Make sure delete.topic.enable=true

PowerShell: Run command from script's directory

Do you mean you want the script's own path so you can reference a file next to the script? Try this:

$scriptpath = $MyInvocation.MyCommand.Path
$dir = Split-Path $scriptpath
Write-host "My directory is $dir"

You can get a lot of info from $MyInvocation and its properties.

If you want to reference a file in the current working directory, you can use Resolve-Path or Get-ChildItem:

$filepath = Resolve-Path "somefile.txt"

EDIT (based on comment from OP):

# temporarily change to the correct folder
Push-Location $folder

# do stuff, call ant, etc

# now back to previous directory
Pop-Location

There's probably other ways of achieving something similar using Invoke-Command as well.

Update R using RStudio

Don't use Rstudio to update R. Rstudio IS NOT R, Rstudio is just an IDE. This answer is a summary of previous answers for different OS. For all OS it is convenient to have a look in advance what will happen with the packages you have already installed here.

WINDOWS ->> Open CMD/Powershell as an administrator and type "R" to go into interactive mode. If this does not work, search and run RGui.exe instead of writing R in the console ...and then:

lib_path <- gsub( "/", "\\\\" , Sys.getenv("R_LIBS_USER"))
install.packages("installr", lib = lib_path)
install.packages("stringr", lib_path)
library(stringr, lib.loc = lib_path)
library(installr, lib.loc = lib_path)
installr::updateR()

MacOS ->> You can use updateR package. The package is not on CRAN, so you’ll need to run the following code in Rgui:

install.packages("devtools")
devtools::install_github("AndreaCirilloAC/updateR")
updateR(admin_password = "PASSWORD") # Where "PASSWORD" stands for your system password

Note that it is planned to merge updateR and installR in the near future to work for both Mac and Windows.

Linux ->> For the moment installr is NOT available for Linux/MacOS (see documentation for current version 0.20). As R is installed, you can follow these instructions (in Ubuntu, although the idea is the same in other distros: add the source, update and upgrade and install.)

"error: assignment to expression with array type error" when I assign a struct field (C)

typedef struct{
     char name[30];
     char surname[30];
     int age;
} data;

defines that data should be a block of memory that fits 60 chars plus 4 for the int (see note)

[----------------------------,------------------------------,----]
 ^ this is name ^ this is surname ^ this is age

This allocates the memory on the stack.

data s1;

Assignments just copies numbers, sometimes pointers.

This fails

s1.name = "Paulo";

because the compiler knows that s1.name is the start of a struct 64 bytes long, and "Paulo" is a char[] 6 bytes long (6 because of the trailing \0 in C strings)
Thus, trying to assign a pointer to a string into a string.

To copy "Paulo" into the struct at the point name and "Rossi" into the struct at point surname.

memcpy(s1.name,    "Paulo", 6);
memcpy(s1.surname, "Rossi", 6);
s1.age = 1;

You end up with

[Paulo0----------------------,Rossi0-------------------------,0001]

strcpy does the same thing but it knows about \0 termination so does not need the length hardcoded.

Alternatively you can define a struct which points to char arrays of any length.

typedef struct {
  char *name;
  char *surname;
  int age;
} data;

This will create

[----,----,----]

This will now work because you are filling the struct with pointers.

s1.name = "Paulo";
s1.surname = "Rossi";
s1.age = 1;

Something like this

[---4,--10,---1]

Where 4 and 10 are pointers.

Note: the ints and pointers can be different sizes, the sizes 4 above are 32bit as an example.

require_once :failed to open stream: no such file or directory

The error pretty much explains what the problem is: you are trying to include a file that is not there.

Try to use the full path to the file, using realpath(), and use dirname(__FILE__) to get your current directory:

require_once(realpath(dirname(__FILE__) . '/../includes/dbconn.inc'));

How to initialize a dict with keys from a list and empty value in Python?

You could use dict.fromkeys as follows:

dict.fromkeys([1, 2, 3, 4], list())

This will create a list object for each key. If you change value for any specific key it won't affect other keys (as most people would want, I presume).

It indicates that the servlet won't be started until a request tries to access it.

If load-on-startup is greater than or equal to zero then when the container starts it will start that servlet in ascending order of the load on startup value you put there (ie 0, 1 then 2 then 5 then 10 and so on).

How to use jQuery to call an ASP.NET web service?

I use this method as a wrapper so that I can send parameters. Also using the variables in the top of the method allows it to be minimized at a higher ratio and allows for some code reuse if making multiple similar calls.

function InfoByDate(sDate, eDate){
    var divToBeWorkedOn = "#AjaxPlaceHolder";
    var webMethod = "http://MyWebService/Web.asmx/GetInfoByDates";
    var parameters = "{'sDate':'" + sDate + "','eDate':'" + eDate + "'}";

    $.ajax({
        type: "POST",
        url: webMethod,
        data: parameters,
        contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
        dataType: "json",
        success: function(msg) {
            $(divToBeWorkedOn).html(msg.d);
        },
        error: function(e){
            $(divToBeWorkedOn).html("Unavailable");
        }
    });
}

I hope that helps.

Please note that this requires the 3.5 framework to expose JSON webmethods that can be consumed in this manner.

Naming returned columns in Pandas aggregate function?

With the inspiration of @Joel Ostblom

For those who already have a workable dictionary for merely aggregation, you can use/modify the following code for the newer version aggregation, separating aggregation and renaming part. Please be aware of the nested dictionary if there are more than 1 item.

def agg_translate_agg_rename(input_agg_dict):
    agg_dict = {}
    rename_dict = {}
    for k, v in input_agg_dict.items():
        if len(v) == 1:
            agg_dict[k] = list(v.values())[0]
            rename_dict[k] = list(v.keys())[0]
        else:
            updated_index = 1
            for nested_dict_k, nested_dict_v in v.items():
                modified_key = k + "_" + str(updated_index)
                agg_dict[modified_key] = nested_dict_v
                rename_dict[modified_key] = nested_dict_k
                updated_index += 1
    return agg_dict, rename_dict

one_dict = {"column1": {"foo": 'sum'}, "column2": {"mean": 'mean', "std": 'std'}}
agg, rename = agg_translator_aa(one_dict)

We get

agg = {'column1': 'sum', 'column2_1': 'mean', 'column2_2': 'std'}
rename = {'column1': 'foo', 'column2_1': 'mean', 'column2_2': 'std'}

Please let me know if there is a smarter way to do it. Thanks.

How to fill the whole canvas with specific color?

We don't need to access the canvas context.

What is the purpose of "&&" in a shell command?

command_1 && command_2: execute command_2 only when command_1 is executed successfully.

command_1 || command_2: execute command_2 only when command_1 is not successful executed.

Feels similar as how an 'if' condition is executed in a mainstream programming language, like, in if (condition_1 && condition_2){...} condition_2 will be omitted if condition_1 is false and in if (condition_1 || condition_2){...} condition_2 will be omitted if condition_1 is true. See, it's the same trick you use for coding :)

Knockout validation

Have a look at Knockout-Validation which cleanly setups and uses what's described in the knockout documentation. Under: Live Example 1: Forcing input to be numeric

You can see it live in Fiddle

UPDATE: the fiddle has been updated to use the latest KO 2.0.3 and ko.validation 1.0.2 using the cloudfare CDN urls

To setup ko.validation:

ko.validation.rules.pattern.message = 'Invalid.';

ko.validation.configure({
    registerExtenders: true,
    messagesOnModified: true,
    insertMessages: true,
    parseInputAttributes: true,
    messageTemplate: null
});

To setup validation rules, use extenders. For instance:

var viewModel = {
    firstName: ko.observable().extend({ minLength: 2, maxLength: 10 }),
    lastName: ko.observable().extend({ required: true }),
    emailAddress: ko.observable().extend({  // custom message
        required: { message: 'Please supply your email address.' }
    })
};

print f.read(1) # This will read just "c"

Is Python strongly typed?

According to this wiki Python article Python is both dynamically and strongly typed (provides a good explanation too).

Perhaps you are thinking about statically typed languages where types can not change during program execution and type checking occurs during compile time to detect possible errors.

This SO question might be of interest: Dynamic type languages versus static type languages and this Wikipedia article on Type Systems provides more information

How to place a JButton at a desired location in a JFrame using Java

Multiple markers Google Map API v3 from array of addresses and avoid OVER_QUERY_LIMIT while geocoding on pageLoad

Regardless of your situation, heres a working demo that creates markers on the map based on an array of addresses.

http://jsfiddle.net/P2QhE/

Javascript code embedded aswell:

$(document).ready(function () {
    var map;
    var elevator;
    var myOptions = {
        zoom: 1,
        center: new google.maps.LatLng(0, 0),
        mapTypeId: 'terrain'
    };
    map = new google.maps.Map($('#map_canvas')[0], myOptions);

    var addresses = ['Norway', 'Africa', 'Asia','North America','South America'];

    for (var x = 0; x < addresses.length; x++) {
        $.getJSON('http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/json?address='+addresses[x]+'&sensor=false', null, function (data) {
            var p = data.results[0].geometry.location
            var latlng = new google.maps.LatLng(p.lat, p.lng);
            new google.maps.Marker({
                position: latlng,

How to link C++ program with Boost using CMake

Adapting @MOnsDaR answer for modern CMake syntax with imported targets, this would be:

find_package(Boost 1.40 COMPONENTS program_options REQUIRED)

add_executable(anyExecutable myMain.cpp)

target_link_libraries(anyExecutable Boost::program_options)

Note that it is not necessary to specify the include directories manually, since it is already taken care of through the imported target Boost::program_options.

How to search for rows containing a substring?

Well, you can always try WHERE textcolumn LIKE "%SUBSTRING%" - but this is guaranteed to be pretty slow, as your query can't do an index match because you are looking for characters on the left side.

It depends on the field type - a textarea usually won't be saved as VARCHAR, but rather as (a kind of) TEXT field, so you can use the MATCH AGAINST operator.

To get the columns that don't match, simply put a NOT in front of the like: WHERE textcolumn NOT LIKE "%SUBSTRING%".

Whether the search is case-sensitive or not depends on how you stock the data, especially what COLLATION you use. By default, the search will be case-insensitive.

Updated answer to reflect question update:

I say that doing a WHERE field LIKE "%value%" is slower than WHERE field LIKE "value%" if the column field has an index, but this is still considerably faster than getting all values and having your application filter. Both scenario's:

1/ If you do SELECT field FROM table WHERE field LIKE "%value%", MySQL will scan the entire table, and only send the fields containing "value".

2/ If you do SELECT field FROM table and then have your application (in your case PHP) filter only the rows with "value" in it, MySQL will also scan the entire table, but send all the fields to PHP, which then has to do additional work. This is much slower than case #1.

Solution: Please do use the WHERE clause, and use EXPLAIN to see the performance.

Pandas convert string to int

You need add parameter errors='coerce' to function to_numeric:

ID = pd.to_numeric(ID, errors='coerce')

If ID is column:

df.ID = pd.to_numeric(df.ID, errors='coerce')

but non numeric are converted to NaN, so all values are float.

For int need convert NaN to some value e.g. 0 and then cast to int:

df.ID = pd.to_numeric(df.ID, errors='coerce').fillna(0).astype(np.int64)

Sample:

df = pd.DataFrame({'ID':['4806105017087','4806105017087','CN414149']})
print (df)
              ID
0  4806105017087
1  4806105017087
2       CN414149

print (pd.to_numeric(df.ID, errors='coerce'))
0    4.806105e+12
1    4.806105e+12
2             NaN
Name: ID, dtype: float64

df.ID = pd.to_numeric(df.ID, errors='coerce').fillna(0).astype(np.int64)
print (df)
              ID
0  4806105017087
1  4806105017087
2              0

EDIT: If use pandas 0.25+ then is possible use integer_na:

df.ID = pd.to_numeric(df.ID, errors='coerce').astype('Int64')
print (df)
              ID
0  4806105017087
1  4806105017087
2            NaN

Focus Input Box On Load

Just a heads up - you can now do this with HTML5 without JavaScript for browsers that support it:

<input type="text" autofocus>

You probably want to start with this and build onto it with JavaScript to provide a fallback for older browsers.

Which characters need to be escaped when using Bash?

I noticed that bash automatically escapes some characters when using auto-complete.

For example, if you have a directory named dir:A, bash will auto-complete to dir\:A

Using this, I runned some experiments using characters of the ASCII table and derived the following lists:

Characters that bash escapes on auto-complete: (includes space)

 !"$&'()*,:;<=>?@[\]^`{|}

Characters that bash does not escape:

#%+-.0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ_abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz~

(I excluded /, as it cannot be used in directory names)

how to use font awesome in own css?

you can do so by using the :before or :after pseudo. read more about it here http://astronautweb.co/snippet/font-awesome/

change your code to this

.lb-prev:hover {
  filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(Opacity=100);
  opacity: 1;
   text-decoration: none;
}

.lb-prev:before {
    font-family: FontAwesome;
    content: "\f053";
    font-size: 30px;

do the same for the other icons. you might want to adjust the color and height of the icons too. anyway here is the fiddle hope this helps

How to split a string in Haskell?

In addition to the efficient and pre-built functions given in answers I'll add my own which are simply part of my repertory of Haskell functions I was writing to learn the language on my own time:

-- Correct but inefficient implementation
wordsBy :: String -> Char -> [String]
wordsBy s c = reverse (go s []) where
    go s' ws = case (dropWhile (\c' -> c' == c) s') of
        "" -> ws
        rem -> go ((dropWhile (\c' -> c' /= c) rem)) ((takeWhile (\c' -> c' /= c) rem) : ws)

-- Breaks up by predicate function to allow for more complex conditions (\c -> c == ',' || c == ';')
wordsByF :: String -> (Char -> Bool) -> [String]
wordsByF s f = reverse (go s []) where
    go s' ws = case ((dropWhile (\c' -> f c')) s') of
        "" -> ws
        rem -> go ((dropWhile (\c' -> (f c') == False)) rem) (((takeWhile (\c' -> (f c') == False)) rem) : ws)

The solutions are at least tail-recursive so they won't incur a stack overflow.

Connecting to local SQL Server database using C#

You try with this string connection

Server=.\SQLExpress;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|Database1.mdf;Database=dbname; Trusted_Connection=Yes;

Execute write on doc: It isn't possible to write into a document from an asynchronously-loaded external script unless it is explicitly opened.

In case this is useful to anyone I had this same issue. I was bringing in a footer into a web page via jQuery. Inside that footer were some Google scripts for ads and retargeting. I had to move those scripts from the footer and place them directly in the page and that eliminated the notice.

Efficient way to determine number of digits in an integer

Yet another code snippet, doing basically the same as Vitali's but employs binary search. Powers array is lazy initialized once per unsigned type instance. Signed type overload takes care of minus sign.

#include <limits>
#include <type_traits>
#include <array>

template <class T>
size_t NumberOfDecPositions ( T v, typename std::enable_if<std::is_unsigned<T>::value>::type* = 0 )
{
    typedef std::array<T,std::numeric_limits<T>::digits10+1> array_type;
    static array_type powers_of_10;
    if ( powers_of_10.front() == 0 )
    {
        T n = 1;
        for ( T& i: powers_of_10 )
        {
            i = n;
            n *= 10;
        }
    }

    size_t l = 0, r = powers_of_10.size(), p;
    while ( l+1 < r )
    {
        p = (l+r)/2;
        if ( powers_of_10[p] <= v )
            l = p;
        else
            r = p;
    }
    return l + 1;
};

template <class T>
size_t NumberOfDecPositions ( T v, typename std::enable_if<std::is_signed<T>::value>::type* = 0 )
{
    typedef typename std::make_unsigned<T>::type unsigned_type;
    if ( v < 0 )
        return NumberOfDecPositions ( static_cast<unsigned_type>(-v) ) + 1;
    else
        return NumberOfDecPositions ( static_cast<unsigned_type>(v) );
}

If anybody cares of further optimization, please note that the first element of powers array is never used, and the l appears with +1 2 times.

How can I URL encode a string in Excel VBA?

No, nothing built-in (until Excel 2013 - see this answer).

There are three versions of URLEncode() in this answer.

  • A function with UTF-8 support. You should probably use this one (or the alternative implementation by Tom) for compatibility with modern requirements.
  • For reference and educational purposes, two functions without UTF-8 support:
    • one found on a third party website, included as-is. (This was the first version of the answer)
    • one optimized version of that, written by me

A variant that supports UTF-8 encoding and is based on ADODB.Stream (include a reference to a recent version of the "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects" library in your project):

Public Function URLEncode( _
   ByVal StringVal As String, _
   Optional SpaceAsPlus As Boolean = False _
) As String
  Dim bytes() As Byte, b As Byte, i As Integer, space As String

  If SpaceAsPlus Then space = "+" Else space = "%20"

  If Len(StringVal) > 0 Then
    With New ADODB.Stream
      .Mode = adModeReadWrite
      .Type = adTypeText
      .Charset = "UTF-8"
      .Open
      .WriteText StringVal
      .Position = 0
      .Type = adTypeBinary
      .Position = 3 ' skip BOM
      bytes = .Read
    End With

    ReDim result(UBound(bytes)) As String

    For i = UBound(bytes) To 0 Step -1
      b = bytes(i)
      Select Case b
        Case 97 To 122, 65 To 90, 48 To 57, 45, 46, 95, 126
          result(i) = Chr(b)
        Case 32
          result(i) = space
        Case 0 To 15
          result(i) = "%0" & Hex(b)
        Case Else
          result(i) = "%" & Hex(b)
      End Select
    Next i

    URLEncode = Join(result, "")
  End If
End Function

This function was found on freevbcode.com:

Public Function URLEncode( _
   StringToEncode As String, _
   Optional UsePlusRatherThanHexForSpace As Boolean = False _
) As String

  Dim TempAns As String
  Dim CurChr As Integer
  CurChr = 1

  Do Until CurChr - 1 = Len(StringToEncode)
    Select Case Asc(Mid(StringToEncode, CurChr, 1))
      Case 48 To 57, 65 To 90, 97 To 122
        TempAns = TempAns & Mid(StringToEncode, CurChr, 1)
      Case 32
        If UsePlusRatherThanHexForSpace = True Then
          TempAns = TempAns & "+"
        Else
          TempAns = TempAns & "%" & Hex(32)
        End If
      Case Else
        TempAns = TempAns & "%" & _
          Right("0" & Hex(Asc(Mid(StringToEncode, _
          CurChr, 1))), 2)
    End Select

    CurChr = CurChr + 1
  Loop

  URLEncode = TempAns
End Function

I've corrected a little bug that was in there.

I would use more efficient (~2× as fast) version of the above:

Public Function URLEncode( _
   StringVal As String, _
   Optional SpaceAsPlus As Boolean = False _
) As String

  Dim StringLen As Long: StringLen = Len(StringVal)

  If StringLen > 0 Then
    ReDim result(StringLen) As String
    Dim i As Long, CharCode As Integer
    Dim Char As String, Space As String

    If SpaceAsPlus Then Space = "+" Else Space = "%20"

    For i = 1 To StringLen
      Char = Mid$(StringVal, i, 1)
      CharCode = Asc(Char)
      Select Case CharCode
        Case 97 To 122, 65 To 90, 48 To 57, 45, 46, 95, 126
          result(i) = Char
        Case 32
          result(i) = Space
        Case 0 To 15
          result(i) = "%0" & Hex(CharCode)
        Case Else
          result(i) = "%" & Hex(CharCode)
      End Select
    Next i
    URLEncode = Join(result, "")
  End If
End Function

Note that neither of these two functions support UTF-8 encoding.

How to increase the Java stack size?

Other posters have pointed out how to increase memory and that you could memoize calls. I'd suggest that for many applications, you can use Stirling's formula to approximate large n! very quickly with almost no memory footprint.

Take a gander at this post, which has some analysis of the function and code:

What is a good Hash Function?

There's no such thing as a “good hash function” for universal hashes (ed. yes, I know there's such a thing as “universal hashing” but that's not what I meant). Depending on the context different criteria determine the quality of a hash. Two people already mentioned SHA. This is a cryptographic hash and it isn't at all good for hash tables which you probably mean.

Hash tables have very different requirements. But still, finding a good hash function universally is hard because different data types expose different information that can be hashed. As a rule of thumb it is good to consider all information a type holds equally. This is not always easy or even possible. For reasons of statistics (and hence collision), it is also important to generate a good spread over the problem space, i.e. all possible objects. This means that when hashing numbers between 100 and 1050 it's no good to let the most significant digit play a big part in the hash because for ~ 90% of the objects, this digit will be 0. It's far more important to let the last three digits determine the hash.

Similarly, when hashing strings it's important to consider all characters – except when it's known in advance that the first three characters of all strings will be the same; considering these then is a waste.

This is actually one of the cases where I advise to read what Knuth has to say in The Art of Computer Programming, vol. 3. Another good read is Julienne Walker's The Art of Hashing.

How do multiple clients connect simultaneously to one port, say 80, on a server?

Important:

I'm sorry to say that the response from "Borealid" is imprecise and somewhat incorrect - firstly there is no relation to statefulness or statelessness to answer this question, and most importantly the definition of the tuple for a socket is incorrect.

First remember below two rules:

  1. Primary key of a socket: A socket is identified by {SRC-IP, SRC-PORT, DEST-IP, DEST-PORT, PROTOCOL} not by {SRC-IP, SRC-PORT, DEST-IP, DEST-PORT} - Protocol is an important part of a socket's definition.

  2. OS Process & Socket mapping: A process can be associated with (can open/can listen to) multiple sockets which might be obvious to many readers.

Example 1: Two clients connecting to same server port means: socket1 {SRC-A, 100, DEST-X,80, TCP} and socket2{SRC-B, 100, DEST-X,80, TCP}. This means host A connects to server X's port 80 and another host B also connects to same server X to the same port 80. Now, how the server handles these two sockets depends on if the server is single threaded or multiple threaded (I'll explain this later). What is important is that one server can listen to multiple sockets simultaneously.

To answer the original question of the post:

Irrespective of stateful or stateless protocols, two clients can connect to same server port because for each client we can assign a different socket (as client IP will definitely differ). Same client can also have two sockets connecting to same server port - since such sockets differ by SRC-PORT. With all fairness, "Borealid" essentially mentioned the same correct answer but the reference to state-less/full was kind of unnecessary/confusing.

To answer the second part of the question on how a server knows which socket to answer. First understand that for a single server process that is listening to same port, there could be more than one sockets (may be from same client or from different clients). Now as long as a server knows which request is associated with which socket, it can always respond to appropriate client using the same socket. Thus a server never needs to open another port in its own node than the original one on which client initially tried to connect. If any server allocates different server-ports after a socket is bound, then in my opinion the server is wasting its resource and it must be needing the client to connect again to the new port assigned.

A bit more for completeness:

Example 2: It's a very interesting question: "can two different processes on a server listen to the same port". If you do not consider protocol as one of parameter defining socket then the answer is no. This is so because we can say that in such case, a single client trying to connect to a server-port will not have any mechanism to mention which of the two listening processes the client intends to connect to. This is the same theme asserted by rule (2). However this is WRONG answer because 'protocol' is also a part of the socket definition. Thus two processes in same node can listen to same port only if they are using different protocol. For example two unrelated clients (say one is using TCP and another is using UDP) can connect and communicate to the same server node and to the same port but they must be served by two different server-processes.

Server Types - single & multiple:

When a server's processes listening to a port that means multiple sockets can simultaneously connect and communicate with the same server-process. If a server uses only a single child-process to serve all the sockets then the server is called single-process/threaded and if the server uses many sub-processes to serve each socket by one sub-process then the server is called multi-process/threaded server. Note that irrespective of the server's type a server can/should always uses the same initial socket to respond back (no need to allocate another server-port).

Suggested Books and rest of the two volumes if you can.

A Note on Parent/Child Process (in response to query/comment of 'Ioan Alexandru Cucu')

Wherever I mentioned any concept in relation to two processes say A and B, consider that they are not related by parent child relationship. OS's (especially UNIX) by design allow a child process to inherit all File-descriptors (FD) from parents. Thus all the sockets (in UNIX like OS are also part of FD) that a process A listening to, can be listened by many more processes A1, A2, .. as long as they are related by parent-child relation to A. But an independent process B (i.e. having no parent-child relation to A) cannot listen to same socket. In addition, also note that this rule of disallowing two independent processes to listen to same socket lies on an OS (or its network libraries) and by far it's obeyed by most OS's. However, one can create own OS which can very well violate this restrictions.

What does "\r" do in the following script?

The '\r' character is the carriage return, and the carriage return-newline pair is both needed for newline in a network virtual terminal session.

From the old telnet specification (RFC 854) (page 11):

The sequence "CR LF", as defined, will cause the NVT to be positioned at the left margin of the next print line (as would, for example, the sequence "LF CR").

However, from the latest specification (RFC5198) (page 13):

  1. ...

  2. In Net-ASCII, CR MUST NOT appear except when immediately followed by either NUL or LF, with the latter (CR LF) designating the "new line" function. Today and as specified above, CR should generally appear only when followed by LF. Because page layout is better done in other ways, because NUL has a special interpretation in some programming languages, and to avoid other types of confusion, CR NUL should preferably be avoided as specified above.

  3. LF CR SHOULD NOT appear except as a side-effect of multiple CR LF sequences (e.g., CR LF CR LF).

So newline in Telnet should always be '\r\n' but most implementations have either not been updated, or keeps the old '\n\r' for backwards compatibility.

findViewById in Fragment

I like everything to be structured. You can do in this way.

First initialize view

private ImageView imageView;

Then override OnViewCreated

@Override
    public void onViewCreated(View view, @Nullable Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onViewCreated(view, savedInstanceState);
        findViews(view);
    }

Then add a void method to find views

private void findViews(View v) {
    imageView = v.findViewById(R.id.img);
}

Error: could not find function "%>%"

You need to load a package (like magrittr or dplyr) that defines the function first, then it should work.

install.packages("magrittr") # package installations are only needed the first time you use it
install.packages("dplyr")    # alternative installation of the %>%
library(magrittr) # needs to be run every time you start R and want to use %>%
library(dplyr)    # alternatively, this also loads %>%

The pipe operator %>% was introduced to "decrease development time and to improve readability and maintainability of code."

But everybody has to decide for himself if it really fits his workflow and makes things easier. For more information on magrittr, click here.

Not using the pipe %>%, this code would return the same as your code:

words <- colnames(as.matrix(dtm))
words <- words[nchar(words) < 20]
words

EDIT: (I am extending my answer due to a very useful comment that was made by @Molx)

Despite being from magrittr, the pipe operator is more commonly used with the package dplyr (which requires and loads magrittr), so whenever you see someone using %>% make sure you shouldn't load dplyr instead.

             GROUP BY [Category] ORDER BY MAX([CreationDate]) DESC

Or use this code, If you want only values of [Category] column.

SELECT [Category] FROM [MonitoringJob]
GROUP BY [Category] ORDER BY MAX([CreationDate]) DESC

You'll have all the distinct records what ever you want.

YouTube iframe API: how do I control an iframe player that's already in the HTML?

My own version of Kim T's code above which combines with some jQuery and allows for targeting of specific iframes.

$(function() {
    callPlayer($('#iframe')[0], 'unMute');
});

function callPlayer(iframe, func, args) {
    if ( iframe.src.indexOf('youtube.com/embed') !== -1) {
        iframe.contentWindow.postMessage( JSON.stringify({
            'event': 'command',
            'func': func,
            'args': args || []
        } ), '*');
    }
}

How to convert date to timestamp in PHP?

This method works on both Windows and Unix and is time-zone aware, which is probably what you want if you work with dates.

If you don't care about timezone, or want to use the time zone your server uses:

$d = DateTime::createFromFormat('d-m-Y H:i:s', '22-09-2008 00:00:00');
if ($d === false) {
    die("Incorrect date string");
} else {
    echo $d->getTimestamp();
}

1222093324 (This will differ depending on your server time zone...)

If you want to specify in which time zone, here EST. (Same as New York.)

$d = DateTime::createFromFormat(
    'd-m-Y H:i:s',
    '22-09-2008 00:00:00',
    new DateTimeZone('EST')
);

if ($d === false) {
    die("Incorrect date string");
} else {
    echo $d->getTimestamp();
}

1222093305

Or if you want to use UTC. (Same as "GMT".)

$d = DateTime::createFromFormat(
    'd-m-Y H:i:s',
    '22-09-2008 00:00:00',
    new DateTimeZone('UTC')
);

if ($d === false) {
    die("Incorrect date string");
} else {
    echo $d->getTimestamp();
}

1222093289

Regardless, it's always a good starting point to be strict when parsing strings into structured data. It can save awkward debugging in the future. Therefore I recommend to always specify date format.

How to execute raw SQL in Flask-SQLAlchemy app

SQL Alchemy session objects have their own execute method:

result = db.session.execute('SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE my_column = :val', {'val': 5})

All your application queries should be going through a session object, whether they're raw SQL or not. This ensures that the queries are properly managed by a transaction, which allows multiple queries in the same request to be committed or rolled back as a single unit. Going outside the transaction using the engine or the connection puts you at much greater risk of subtle, possibly hard to detect bugs that can leave you with corrupted data. Each request should be associated with only one transaction, and using db.session will ensure this is the case for your application.

Also take note that execute is designed for parameterized queries. Use parameters, like :val in the example, for any inputs to the query to protect yourself from SQL injection attacks. You can provide the value for these parameters by passing a dict as the second argument, where each key is the name of the parameter as it appears in the query. The exact syntax of the parameter itself may be different depending on your database, but all of the major relational databases support them in some form.

Assuming it's a SELECT query, this will return an iterable of RowProxy objects.

You can access individual columns with a variety of techniques:

for r in result:
    print(r[0]) # Access by positional index
    print(r['my_column']) # Access by column name as a string
    r_dict = dict(r.items()) # convert to dict keyed by column names

Personally, I prefer to convert the results into namedtuples:

from collections import namedtuple

Record = namedtuple('Record', result.keys())
records = [Record(*r) for r in result.fetchall()]
for r in records:
    print(r.my_column)
    print(r)

If you're not using the Flask-SQLAlchemy extension, you can still easily use a session:

import sqlalchemy
from sqlalchemy.orm import sessionmaker, scoped_session

engine = sqlalchemy.create_engine('my connection string')
Session = scoped_session(sessionmaker(bind=engine))

s = Session()
result = s.execute('SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE my_column = :val', {'val': 5})

How do I check if there are duplicates in a flat list?

I found this to do the best performance because it short-circuit the operation when the first duplicated it found, then this algorithm has time and space complexity O(n) where n is the list's length:

def has_duplicated_elements(iterable):
    """ Given an `iterable`, return True if there are duplicated entries. """
    clean_elements_set = set()
    clean_elements_set_add = clean_elements_set.add

    for possible_duplicate_element in iterable:

        if possible_duplicate_element in clean_elements_set:
            return True

        else:
            clean_elements_set_add( possible_duplicate_element )

    return False

What's the better (cleaner) way to ignore output in PowerShell?

I just did some tests of the four options that I know about.

Measure-Command {$(1..1000) | Out-Null}

TotalMilliseconds : 76.211

Measure-Command {[Void]$(1..1000)}

TotalMilliseconds : 0.217

Measure-Command {$(1..1000) > $null}

TotalMilliseconds : 0.2478

Measure-Command {$null = $(1..1000)}

TotalMilliseconds : 0.2122

## Control, times vary from 0.21 to 0.24
Measure-Command {$(1..1000)}

TotalMilliseconds : 0.2141

So I would suggest that you use anything but Out-Null due to overhead. The next important thing, to me, would be readability. I kind of like redirecting to $null and setting equal to $null myself. I use to prefer casting to [Void], but that may not be as understandable when glancing at code or for new users.

I guess I slightly prefer redirecting output to $null.

Do-Something > $null

Edit

After stej's comment again, I decided to do some more tests with pipelines to better isolate the overhead of trashing the output.

Here are some tests with a simple 1000 object pipeline.

## Control Pipeline
Measure-Command {$(1..1000) | ?{$_ -is [int]}}

TotalMilliseconds : 119.3823

## Out-Null
Measure-Command {$(1..1000) | ?{$_ -is [int]} | Out-Null}

TotalMilliseconds : 190.2193

## Redirect to $null
Measure-Command {$(1..1000) | ?{$_ -is [int]} > $null}

TotalMilliseconds : 119.7923

In this case, Out-Null has about a 60% overhead and > $null has about a 0.3% overhead.

Addendum 2017-10-16: I originally overlooked another option with Out-Null, the use of the -inputObject parameter. Using this the overhead seems to disappear, however the syntax is different:

Out-Null -inputObject ($(1..1000) | ?{$_ -is [int]})

And now for some tests with a simple 100 object pipeline.

## Control Pipeline
Measure-Command {$(1..100) | ?{$_ -is [int]}}

TotalMilliseconds : 12.3566

## Out-Null
Measure-Command {$(1..100) | ?{$_ -is [int]} | Out-Null}

TotalMilliseconds : 19.7357

## Redirect to $null
Measure-Command {$(1..1000) | ?{$_ -is [int]} > $null}

TotalMilliseconds : 12.8527

Here again Out-Null has about a 60% overhead. While > $null has an overhead of about 4%. The numbers here varied a bit from test to test (I ran each about 5 times and picked the middle ground). But I think it shows a clear reason to not use Out-Null.

How to escape indicator characters (i.e. : or - ) in YAML

If you're using @ConfigurationProperties with Spring Boot 2 to inject maps with keys that contain colons then you need an additional level of escaping using square brackets inside the quotes because spring only allows alphanumeric and '-' characters, stripping out the rest. Your new key would look like this:

"[8.11.32.120:8000]": GoogleMapsKeyforThisDomain

See this github issue for reference.

How do you underline a text in Android XML?

I used below method, it worked for me. Below is example for Button but we can use in TextView as well.

Button btnClickMe = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btn_click_me);
btnClickMe.setPaintFlags(btnClickMe.getPaintFlags() | Paint.UNDERLINE_TEXT_FLAG);

How does Subquery in select statement work in oracle

In the Oracle RDBMS, it is possible to use a multi-row subquery in the select clause as long as the (sub-)output is encapsulated as a collection. In particular, a multi-row select clause subquery can output each of its rows as an xmlelement that is encapsulated in an xmlforest.

How do I get a specific range of numbers from rand()?

This answer does not focus on the randomness but on the arithmetic order. To get a number within a range, usually we can do it like this:

// the range is between [aMin, aMax]
double f = (double)rand() / RAND_MAX;
double result = aMin + f * (aMax - aMin);

However, there is a possibility that (aMax - aMin) overflows. E.g. aMax = 1, aMin = -DBL_MAX. A safer way is to write like this:

// the range is between [aMin, aMax]
double f = (double)rand() / RAND_MAX;
double result = aMin - f * aMin + f * aMax;

Based on this concept, something like this may cause a problem.

rand() % (max_number + 1 - minimum_number) + minimum_number
// 1. max_number + 1 might overflow
// 2. max_number + 1 - min_number might overflow

Enable UTF-8 encoding for JavaScript

Same problem here, solved with this: In Eclipse (with .js file open and on focus), go to, "File", "Properties", "Resource", "Text file encoding" choose "Other:" UTF-8, put correct characters code inside the code save your file and you are done!

How to select data of a table from another database in SQL Server?

To do a cross server query, check out the system stored procedure: sp_addlinkedserver in the help files.

Once the server is linked you can run a query against it.

Java : Accessing a class within a package, which is the better way?

They're equivalent. The access is the same.

The import is just a convention to save you from having to type the fully-resolved class name each time. You can write all your Java without using import, as long as you're a fast touch typer.

But there's no difference in efficiency or class loading.

Git: How do I list only local branches?

If the leading asterisk is a problem, I pipe the git branch as follows

git branch | awk -F ' +' '! /\(no branch\)/ {print $2}'

This also eliminates the '(no branch)' line that shows up when you have detached head.

Submitting the value of a disabled input field

you can also use the Readonly attribute: the input is not gonna be grayed but it won't be editable

Defining lists as global variables in Python

No, you can specify the list as a keyword argument to your function.

alist = []
def fn(alist=alist):
    alist.append(1)
fn()
print alist    # [1]

I'd say it's bad practice though. Kind of too hackish. If you really need to use a globally available singleton-like data structure, I'd use the module level variable approach, i.e. put 'alist' in a module and then in your other modules import that variable:

In file foomodule.py:

alist = []

In file barmodule.py:

import foomodule
def fn():
    foomodule.alist.append(1)
print foomodule.alist    # [1]

How to query for today's date and 7 days before data?

Query in Parado's answer is correct, if you want to use MySql too instead GETDATE() you must use (because you've tagged this question with Sql server and Mysql):

select * from tab
where DateCol between adddate(now(),-7) and now()

postgresql: INSERT INTO ... (SELECT * ...)

If you are looking for PERFORMANCE, give where condition inside the db link query. Otherwise it fetch all data from the foreign table and apply the where condition.

INSERT INTO tblA (id,time)
SELECT id, time FROM  dblink('dbname=dbname port=5432 host=10.10.90.190 user=postgresuser password=pass123',
'select id, time from tblB where time>'''||1000||'''')
AS t1(id integer, time integer)

How to change spinner text size and text color?

I have done this as following.I have use getDropDownView() and getView() methods.

Use getDropDownView() for opened Spinner.

@Override
public View getDropDownView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
  View view = convertView;
  if (view == null) {
    LayoutInflater vi = (LayoutInflater) activity.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE);
    view = vi.inflate(R.layout.context_row_icon, null);
  }
  TextView mTitle = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.context_label);
  ImageView flag = (ImageView) view.findViewById(R.id.context_icon);

  mTitle.setText(values[position].getLabel(activity));

  if (!((LabelItem) getItem(position)).isEnabled()) {
    mTitle.setTextColor(activity.getResources().getColor(R.color.context_item_disabled));
  } else {
    mTitle.setTextColor(activity.getResources().getColor(R.color.context_item));
  }
  return view;
}

And Use getView() for closed Spinner.

@Override
public View getView(int position, View convertView, ViewGroup parent) {
  View view = convertView;
  if (view == null) {
    LayoutInflater vi = (LayoutInflater) activity.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE);
    view = vi.inflate(R.layout.context_row_icon, null);
  }
  TextView mTitle = (TextView) view.findViewById(R.id.context_label);
  ImageView flag = (ImageView) view.findViewById(R.id.context_icon);

  mTitle.setText(values[position].getLabel(activity));
  mTitle.setTextColor(activity.getResources().getColor(R.color.context_item_disabled));

  return view;
}

What is a "callback" in C and how are they implemented?

This wikipedia article has an example in C.

A good example is that new modules written to augment the Apache Web server register with the main apache process by passing them function pointers so those functions are called back to process web page requests.

How to generate an entity-relationship (ER) diagram using Oracle SQL Developer

javascript close current window

I know this is an old post, with a lot of changes since 2017, but I have found that I can close my current tab/window with:

onClick="javascript:window.close('','_parent','');", now in 2019.

what is the unsigned datatype?

According to C17 6.7.2 §2:

Each list of type specifiers shall be one of the following multisets (delimited by commas, when there is more than one multiset per item); the type specifiers may occur in any order, possibly intermixed with the other declaration specifiers

— void
— char
— signed char
— unsigned char
— short, signed short, short int, or signed short int
— unsigned short, or unsigned short int
— int, signed, or signed int
— unsigned, or unsigned int
— long, signed long, long int, or signed long int
— unsigned long, or unsigned long int
— long long, signed long long, long long int, or signed long long int
— unsigned long long, or unsigned long long int
— float
— double
— long double
— _Bool
— float _Complex
— double _Complex
— long double _Complex
— atomic type specifier
— struct or union specifier
— enum specifier
— typedef name

So in case of unsigned int we can either write unsigned or unsigned int, or if we are feeling crazy, int unsigned. The latter since the standard is stupid enough to allow "...may occur in any order, possibly intermixed". This is a known flaw of the language.

Proper C code uses unsigned int.

Ruby: How to iterate over a range, but in set increments?
