There is actually a pretty critical difference, insofar as jQuery's Deferreds are meant to be an implementations of Promises (and jQuery3.0 actually tries to bring them into spec).
The key difference between done/then is that
.done()
ALWAYS returns the same Promise/wrapped values it started with, regardless of what you do or what you return..then()
always returns a NEW Promise, and you are in charge of controlling what that Promise is based on what the function you passed it returned.Translated from jQuery into native ES2015 Promises, .done()
is sort of like implementing a "tap" structure around a function in a Promise chain, in that it will, if the chain is in the "resolve" state, pass a value to a function... but the result of that function will NOT affect the chain itself.

Note that I used done and doneWrap to do logging, not .then. That's because console.log functions don't actually return anything. And what happens if you pass .then a function that doesn't return anything?

undefined
What happened? When I used .then and passed it a function that didn't return anything, it's implicit result was "undefined"... which of course returned a Promise[undefined] to the next then method, which logged undefined. So the original value we started with was basically lost.
.then()
is, at heart, a form of function composition: the result of each step is used as the argument for the function in the next step. That's why .done is best thought of as a "tap"-> it's not actually part of the composition, just something that sneaks a look at the value at a certain step and runs a function at that value, but doesn't actually alter the composition in any way.
This is a pretty fundamental difference, and there's a probably a good reason why native Promises don't have a .done method implemented themselves. We don't eve have to get into why there's no .fail method, because that's even more complicated (namely, .fail/.catch are NOT mirrors of .done/.then -> functions in .catch that return bare values do not "stay" rejected like those passed to .then, they resolve!)

To process a file line-by-line, you simply need to decouple the reading of the file and the code that acts upon that input. You can accomplish this by buffering your input until you hit a newline. Assuming we have one JSON object per line (basically, format B):

Each time the file stream receives data from the file system, it's stashed in a buffer, and then pump
is called.
If there's no newline in the buffer, pump
simply returns without doing anything. More data (and potentially a newline) will be added to the buffer the next time the stream gets data, and then we'll have a complete object.
If there is a newline, pump
slices off the buffer from the beginning to the newline and hands it off to process
. It then checks again if there's another newline in the buffer (the while
loop). In this way, we can process all of the lines that were read in the current chunk.
Finally, process
is called once per input line. If present, it strips off the carriage return character (to avoid issues with line endings – LF vs CRLF), and then calls JSON.parse
one the line. At this point, you can do whatever you need to with your object.
Note that JSON.parse
is strict about what it accepts as input; you must quote your identifiers and string values with double quotes. In other words, {name:'thing1'}
will throw an error; you must use {"name":"thing1"}

Because no more than a chunk of data will ever be in memory at a time, this will be extremely memory efficient. It will also be extremely fast. A quick test showed I processed 10,000 rows in under 15ms.
The answer of Uttam didnt work for me. I just got null when I do:

You want to maintain good control over what gets sent to the database. In the original code, one possible reading is that an untrimmed string gets sent into the database for trimming - which is not good work for the database to be doing.
Luckily, C# has no C/C++-style preprocessor - only conditional compilation and pragmas (and possibly something else I cannot recall) are supported. Unfortunatelly, C# has no metaprogramming capabilities (this may actually relate to your question to some extent).
It seems like it exists a bug in jQuery reported here : http://bugs.jquery.com/ticket/13183 that breaks the Fancybox script.

As a workaround, rollback to jQuery v1.8.3 while either the jQuery bug is fixed or Fancybox is patched.

It is not possible directly. You may as well write some preprocessor which can handle that.
If I understand it correctly then below are the things that can be helpful to achieve that:
Use a pre-processor which will run through your JS files for example looking for patterns like "@import somefile.js" and replace them with the content of the actual file. Nicholas Zakas(Yahoo) wrote one such library in Java which you can use (http://www.nczonline.net/blog/2009/09/22/introducing-combiner-a-javascriptcss-concatenation-tool/)
If you are using Ruby on Rails then you can give Jammit asset packaging a try, it uses assets.yml configuration file where you can define your packages which can contain multiple files and then refer them in your actual webpage by the package name.
Try using a module loader like RequireJS or a script loader like LabJs with the ability to control the loading sequence as well as taking advantage of parallel downloading.
JavaScript currently does not provide a "native" way of including a JavaScript file into another like CSS ( @import ), but all the above mentioned tools/ways can be helpful to achieve the DRY principle you mentioned. I can understand that it may not feel intuitive if you are from a Server-side background but this is the way things are. For front-end developers this problem is typically a "deployment and packaging issue".

Inheritance or generalization is an example of high coupling (i.e. high interdependence). What I meant by this is that in inheritance often the parent class defines base functionalities that is used by its child class and change in methods of parent class directly impact its child classes. Hence we can say that there is a greater degree of interdependence between classes.
Realization or using interface is an example of high cohesion (i.e. low interdependence). What this means is that an interface put forward a contract for any class that implements it but each class has the right to implement methods declared in interface in its own way and changes in method declared in one class doesn't affect any other class.
Does your DLL project have any actual exports? If there are no exports, the linker will not generate an import library .lib file.

Your two examples are the only things I have ever used the Rows

You can write a pretty simple embedded Jetty Java server.
Embedded Jetty means that the server (Jetty) shipped together with the application as opposed of deploying the application on external Jetty server.
So if in non-embedded approach your webapp built into WAR file which deployed to some external server (Tomcat / Jetty / etc), in embedded Jetty, you write the webapp and instantiate the jetty server in the same code base.

One way I found after some struggling is creating a function which gets data_plot matrix, file name and order as parameter to create boxplots from the given data in the ordered figure (different orders = different figures) and save it under the given file_name.

What worked for me in Windows 7 is to remove the Host-only Network (in Oracle virtual box Preferences menu [CTRL+G] -> Network -> Host-only Networks). Genymotion will recreate it automatically at the next virtual device start. For the record; I'm using a Nexus S 2.3.7 virtual device.

This should work, but there is a little trick. After you enter the formula, you need to hold down Ctrl+Shift while you press Enter. When you do, you'll see that the formula bar has curly-braces around your formula. This is called an array formula.

The title attribute is meant to give more information. It's not useful for SEO so it's never a good idea to have the same text in the title and alt which is meant to describe the image or input is vs. what it does. for instance:

If your having trouble connecting, most likely the problem is that you haven't yet enabled the TCP/IP listener on port 1433. A quick "netstat -an" command will tell you if its listening. By default, SQL server doesn't enable this after installation.

Reason – these tools save a lot of time and make the process less error prone.
I’ve used comparison tools from ApexSQL (Diff and Data Diff) but you can’t go wrong with other tools marc_s and Marina Nastenko already pointed out.
If you’re absolutely sure that you are only going to compare tables once then SQL is fine but if you’re going to need this from time to time you’ll be better off with some 3rd party tool.
If you don’t have budget to buy it then just use it in trial mode to get the job done.

I got this error message while running tests in Visual Studio: Firefox simply wouldn't load and I got OP's error message.
I manually opened Firefox and found out that it needed to update itself (it did so before loading). Once finished I reran the test suite and Firefox showed up nicely, the tests were properly ran. If you get this error all of a sudden please try this answer before updating anything on your machine.
In my case it was happening because I had not typed a variable.

I recommend using the python bindings to OpenImageIO, it's the standard for dealing with various image formats in the vfx world. I've ovten found it more reliable in reading various compression types compared to PIL.

The day of week will then be in the range 0 to 6, where 0 is Sunday, 1 is Monday, etc. Then you can use a simple case statement to return the correct weekday name.

One pitfall I ran into was a parent element having the 'overflow' attribute set to 'auto'. This negates child div elements with the page-break-inside attribute in the print version. Otherwise, page-break-inside: avoid

Just to add some specific settings, I had a similar setup (with Apache 2.0.63 reverse proxying onto Tomcat 5.0.27).
For certain URLs the Tomcat server could take perhaps 20 minutes to return a page.
I ended up modifying the following settings in the Apache configuration file to prevent it from timing out with its proxy operation (with a large over-spill factor in case Tomcat took longer to return a page):
Timeout 5400
ProxyTimeout 5400
ProxyTimeout alone wasn't enough. Looking at the documentation for Timeout I'm guessing (I'm not sure) that this is because while Apache is waiting for a response from Tomcat, there is no traffic flowing between Apache and the Browser (or whatever http client) - and so Apache closes down the connection to the browser.
I found that if I left the Timeout setting at its default (300 seconds), then if the proxied request to Tomcat took longer than 300 seconds to get a response the browser would display a "502 Proxy Error" page. I believe this message is generated by Apache, in the knowledge that it's acting as a reverse proxy, before it closes down the connection to the browser (this is my current understanding - it may be flawed).
The proxy error page says:
Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request GET.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
...which suggests that it's the ProxyTimeout setting that's too short, while investigation shows that Apache's Timeout setting (timeout between Apache and the client) that also influences this.
The Code Runner extension has a setting "Clear previous output", which is what I need 95% of the time.
File > Preferences > Settings > (search for "output") > Code-runner: Clear previous output
The remaining few times I will disable the setting and use the "Clear output" button (top right of the output pane) to selectively clear accumulated output.
This is in Visual Studio Code 1.33.1 with Code Runner 0.9.8.
(Setting the keybinding for Ctrl+k
did not work for me, presumably because some extension has defined "chords" beginning with Ctrl-k
. But "Clear previous output" was actually a better option for me.)

It is well defined behaviour. You cannot get the old value for a mutated object. That's because both the newVal

rurban's fork of SMHasher (the original SMHasher seems abandoned) has hardware CRC32 support. The changes were added before the initial commit, but try comparing the new CMakeLists.txt and the old one (which doesn't mention SSE at all).
The best option is probably Intel's zlib fork with PCLMULQDQ support described in this paper. This library also has the SSE 4.2 optimizations.

CGI is a mechanism whereby an external program is called by the web server in order to handle a request, with environment variables and standard input being used to feed the request data to the program. The exact language the external program is written in does not matter, although it is easier to write CGI programs in some languages versus others.
Since CGI scripts need execute permissions, httpd by default only allows CGI programs in the cgi-bin

Most PHP scripts run in the web server process via mod_php
. This is not CGI.
CGI is slow since the program (and related interpreter) must be started up per request. Modern alternatives are embedded execution, used by mod_php, and long-running processes, used by FastCGI. What "to add" means in this case depends on your build environment and its terminology. In MSVC (since you are apparently use MSVC) you'd have to add one.cpp

In more practical terms, applicable to all typical build methodologies, when you link you program, the object file created form one.cpp

If your web application is configured to impersonate a client, then using a trusted connection will potentially have a negative performance impact. This is because each client must use a different connection pool (with the client's credentials).
Most web applications don't use impersonation / delegation, and hence don't have this problem.

I like Jay Cincotta's interpretation best - tracing your code's execution is something very useful in tech support, and putting trace statements into the code liberally should be encouraged - especially in combination with a dynamic filtering mechanism for logging the trace messages from specific application components. However DEBUG level to me indicates that we're still in the process of figuring out what's going on - I see DEBUG level output as a development-only option, not as something that should ever show up in a production log.
There is however a logging level that I like to see in my error logs when wearing the hat of a sysadmin as much as that of tech support, or even developer: OPER, for OPERATIONAL messages. This I use for logging a timestamp, the type of operation invoked, the arguments supplied, possibly a (unique) task identifier, and task completion. It's used when e.g. a standalone task is fired off, something that is a true invocation from within the larger long-running app. It's the sort of thing I want always logged, no matter whether anything goes wrong or not, so I consider the level of OPER to be higher than FATAL, so you can only turn it off by going to totally silent mode. And it's much more than mere INFO log data - a log level often abused for spamming logs with minor operational messages of no historical value whatsoever.
As the case dictates this information may be directed to a separate invocation log, or may be obtained by filtering it out of a large log recording more information. But it's always needed, as historical info, to know what was being done - without descending to the level of AUDIT, another totally separate log level that has nothing to do with malfunctions or system operation, doesn't really fit within the above levels (as it needs its own control switch, not a severity classification) and which definitely needs its own separate log file.
I didn't like any of the above answers because none of them correctly handle the mixture of strings/numbers that can be values in TypeScript enums.

I'll also point out that the OP is thinking of enums backwards. The "key" in the enum is technically on the left hand side and the value is on the right hand side. TypeScript allows you to repeat the values on the RHS as much as you'd like.
If you need a .dll file that is not on the path or on the application's location, then I don't think you can do just that, because DllImport
is an attribute, and attributes are only metadata that is set on types, members and other language elements.
An alternative that can help you accomplish what I think you're trying, is to use the native LoadLibrary
through P/Invoke, in order to load a .dll from the path you need, and then use GetProcAddress
to get a reference to the function you need from that .dll. Then use these to create a delegate that you can invoke.
To make it easier to use, you can then set this delegate to a field in your class, so that using it looks like calling a member method.

I believe that newer pythons json implementations correctly handle the built in OrderedDicts, but I'm not sure (and I don't have easy access to test).
Old pythons simplejson implementations dont handle the OrderedDict objects nicely .. and convert them to regular dicts before outputting them.. but you can overcome this by doing the following:

Workaround: This is a problem we have observed too, in Windows Server 2012 R2. I haven't found a reason or solution yet. Here is my work around.
During installation while error is shown, go to Services.msc. Find the service which throws the error, then re-enter the password in the service's log-in information. Then, hit "retry" in setup. It works.
The error will not be shown for same user again. But will be shown for a different user.

There are two things to consider: users can modify forms, and you need to secure against Cross Site Scripting (XSS).
XSS
XSS is when a user enters HTML into their input. For example, what if a user submitted this value?:

Form Modification
If I were on your site, I could use Chrome's developer tools or Firebug to modify the HTML of your page. Depending on what your form does, this could be used maliciously.
I could, for example, add extra values to your array, or values that don't belong in the array. If this were a file system manager, then I could add files that don't exist or files that contain sensitive information (e.g.: replace myfile.jpg
with ../index.php
or ../db-connect.php
).
In short, you always need to check your inputs later to make sure that they make sense, and only use safe inputs in forms. A File ID (a number) is safe, because you can check to see if the number exists, then extract the filename from a database (this assumes that your database contains validated input). A File Name isn't safe, for the reasons described above. You must either re-validate the filename or else I could change it to anything.
Replace the whitespace characters, and then convert it(using the intval function or by regular typecasting)

Although, the question is fairly old, I'm adding info not present in other answers.
The OP is using stop() to stop the current animation as soon as the event completes. However, using the right mix of parameters with the function should help. eg. stop(true,true) or stop(true,false) as this affects the queued animations well.

You can use IERange (http://code.google.com/p/ierange/) to convert IE's TextRange into something like a DOM Range and use it in conjunction with something like eyelidlessness's starting point. Personally I would only use the algorithms from IERange that do the Range <-> TextRange conversions rather than use the whole thing. And IE's selection object doesn't have the focusNode and anchorNode properties but you should be able to just use the Range/TextRange obtained from the selection instead.
I might put something together to do this, will post back here if and when I do.

I've created a demo of a script that does this. It works in everything I've tried it in so far except for a bug in Opera 9, which I haven't had time to look into yet. Browsers it works in are IE 5.5, 6 and 7, Chrome 2, Firefox 2, 3 and 3.5, and Safari 4, all on Windows.

Note that selections may be made backwards in browsers so that the focus node is at the start of the selection and hitting the right or left cursor key will move the caret to a position relative to the start of the selection. java.io.IOException in Netty means your game server tries to send data to a client, but that client has closed connection to your server.

Download the file and from the same directory run docker build -t nodebb .
This will give you an image on your local machine that's named nodebb that you can launch an container from with docker run -d nodebb
(you can change nodebb to your own name).
So actually, my comment that you should do a console.log(el.nativeElement)
should have pointed you in the right direction, but I didn't expect the output to be just a string representing the DOM Element
.
What you have to do to inspect it in the way it helps you with your problem, is to do a console.log(el)
in your example, then you'll have access to the nativeElement
object and will see a property called innerHTML
.
Which will lead to the answer to your original question:

This question with its answer explained the console.log
behavior.
Which means that console.dir(el.nativeElement)
would be the more direct way of accessing the DOM Element
as an "inspectable" Object in your console for this situation.
