Update index after sorting data-frame

df.sort() is deprecated, use df.sort_values(...): https://pandas.pydata.org/pandas-docs/stable/generated/pandas.DataFrame.sort_values.html

Then follow joris' answer by doing df.reset_index(drop=True)

How do I create an Android Spinner as a popup?

You can create your own custom Dialog. It's fairly easy. If you want to dismiss it with a selection in the spinner, then add an OnItemClickListener and add

int n = mSpinner.getSelectedItemPosition();
mReadyListener.ready(n);
SpinnerDialog.this.dismiss();

as in the OnClickListener for the OK button. There's one caveat, though, and it's that the onclick listener does not fire if you reselect the default option. You need the OK button also.

Start with the layout:

res/layout/spinner_dialog.xml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
  android:layout_width="wrap_content"
  android:layout_height="wrap_content">
<TextView
    android:id="@+id/dialog_label"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:layout_width="fill_parent"
    android:hint="Please select an option"
    />
<Spinner
    android:id="@+id/dialog_spinner"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:layout_width="fill_parent"
    />
<Button
    android:id="@+id/dialogOK"
    android:layout_width="120dp"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:text="OK"
    android:layout_below="@id/dialog_spinner"
    />
<Button
    android:id="@+id/dialogCancel"
    android:layout_width="120dp"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"
    android:text="Cancel"
    android:layout_below="@id/dialog_spinner"
    android:layout_toRightOf="@id/dialogOK"
    />
</RelativeLayout>

Then, create the class:

src/your/package/SpinnerDialog.java:

public class SpinnerDialog extends Dialog {
    private ArrayList<String> mList;
    private Context mContext;
    private Spinner mSpinner;

   public interface DialogListener {
        public void ready(int n);
        public void cancelled();
    }

    private DialogListener mReadyListener;

    public SpinnerDialog(Context context, ArrayList<String> list, DialogListener readyListener) {
        super(context);
        mReadyListener = readyListener;
        mContext = context;
        mList = new ArrayList<String>();
        mList = list;
    }

    @Override
    public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);

        setContentView(R.layout.spinner_dialog);
        mSpinner = (Spinner) findViewById (R.id.dialog_spinner);
        ArrayAdapter<String> adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String> (mContext, android.R.layout.simple_spinner_dropdown_item, mList);
        mSpinner.setAdapter(adapter);

        Button buttonOK = (Button) findViewById(R.id.dialogOK);
        Button buttonCancel = (Button) findViewById(R.id.dialogCancel);
        buttonOK.setOnClickListener(new android.view.View.OnClickListener(){
            public void onClick(View v) {
                int n = mSpinner.getSelectedItemPosition();
                mReadyListener.ready(n);
                SpinnerDialog.this.dismiss();
            }
        });
        buttonCancel.setOnClickListener(new android.view.View.OnClickListener(){
            public void onClick(View v) {
                mReadyListener.cancelled();
                SpinnerDialog.this.dismiss();
            }
        });
    }
}

Finally, use it as:

mSpinnerDialog = new SpinnerDialog(this, mTimers, new SpinnerDialog.DialogListener() {
  public void cancelled() {
    // do your code here
  }
  public void ready(int n) {
    // do your code here
  }
});

How to get values and keys from HashMap?

Map is internally made up of Map.Entry objects. Each Entry contains key and value. To get key and value from the entry you use accessor and modifier methods.

If you want to get values with given key, use get() method and to insert value, use put() method.

#Define and initialize map;
Map map = new HashMap();
map.put("USA",1)
map.put("Japan",3)
map.put("China",2)
map.put("India",5)
map.put("Germany",4)

map.get("Germany") // returns 4

If you want to get the set of keys from map, you can use keySet() method

Set keys = map.keySet();
System.out.println("All keys are: " + keys);
// To get all key: value
for(String key: keys){
    System.out.println(key + ": " + map.get(key));
}

Generally, To get all keys and values from the map, you have to follow the sequence in the following order:

  • Convert Hashmap to MapSet to get set of entries in Map with entryset() method.:
    Set st = map.entrySet();
  • Get the iterator of this set:
    Iterator it = st.iterator();
  • Get Map.Entry from the iterator:
    Map.Entry entry = it.next();
  • use getKey() and getValue() methods of the Map.Entry to get keys and values.
// Now access it
Set st = (Set) map.entrySet();
Iterator it = st.iterator();
while(it.hasNext()){
    Map.Entry entry = mapIterator.next();
    System.out.print(entry.getKey() + " : " + entry.getValue());
}

In short, use iterator directly in for

for(Map.Entry entry:map.entrySet()){
    System.out.print(entry.getKey() + " : " + entry.getValue());
}

How to calculate the time interval between two time strings

Both time and datetime have a date component.

Normally if you are just dealing with the time part you'd supply a default date. If you are just interested in the difference and know that both times are on the same day then construct a datetime for each with the day set to today and subtract the start from the stop time to get the interval (timedelta).

How Do I Replace/Change The Heading Text Inside <h3></h3>, Using jquery?

_x000D_
_x000D_
$("h3").text("context")
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

Just use method "text()".

The .text() method cannot be used on form inputs or scripts. To set or get the text value of input or textarea elements, use the .val() method. To get the value of a script element, use the .html() method.

  // Clone it and assign the new ID (i.e: from num 4 to ID "klon4")
  var $klon = $div.clone().prop('id', 'klon'+num );

  // Finally insert $klon wherever you want
  $div.after( $klon.text('klon'+num) );

});

Is there a Google Keep API?

No there's not and developers still don't know why google doesn't pay attention to this request!

As you can see in this link it's one of the most popular issues with many stars in google code but still no response from google! You can also add stars to this issue, maybe google hears that!

How is a tag different from a branch in Git? Which should I use, here?

Branches are made of wood and grow from the trunk of the tree. Tags are made of paper (derivative of wood) and hang like Christmas Ornaments from various places in the tree.

Your project is the tree, and your feature that will be added to the project will grow on a branch. The answer is branch.

Mockito - difference between doReturn() and when()

Both approaches behave differently if you use a spied object (annotated with @Spy) instead of a mock (annotated with @Mock):

  • when(...) thenReturn(...) makes a real method call just before the specified value will be returned. So if the called method throws an Exception you have to deal with it / mock it etc. Of course you still get your result (what you define in thenReturn(...))

  • doReturn(...) when(...) does not call the method at all.

Example:

public class MyClass {
     protected String methodToBeTested() {
           return anotherMethodInClass();
     }

     protected String anotherMethodInClass() {
          throw new NullPointerException();
     }
}

Test:

@Spy
private MyClass myClass;

// ...

// would work fine
doReturn("test").when(myClass).anotherMethodInClass();

// would throw a NullPointerException
when(myClass.anotherMethodInClass()).thenReturn("test");

Laravel Soft Delete posts

Just an update for Laravel 5:

In Laravel 4.2:

use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\SoftDeletingTrait;
class Post extends Eloquent {

    use SoftDeletingTrait;

    protected $dates = ['deleted_at'];

}

becomes in Laravel 5:

use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\SoftDeletes;

class User extends Model {

    use SoftDeletes;
    protected $dates = ['deleted_at'];

Is there a way to perform "if" in python's lambda

An easy way to perform an if in lambda is by using list comprehension.

You can't raise an exception in lambda, but this is a way in Python 3.x to do something close to your example:

f = lambda x: print(x) if x==2 else print("exception")

Another example:

return 1 if M otherwise 0

f = lambda x: 1 if x=="M" else 0

How can I pass a member function where a free function is expected?

A pointer to member function is different from a pointer to function. In order to use a member function through a pointer you need a pointer to it (obviously ) and an object to apply it to. So the appropriate version of function1 would be

void function1(void (aClass::*function)(int, int), aClass& a) {
    (a.*function)(1, 1);
}

and to call it:

aClass a; // note: no parentheses; with parentheses it's a function declaration
function1(&aClass::test, a);

Remove decimal values using SQL query

Your data type is DECIMAL with decimal places, say DECIMAL(10,2). The values in your database are 12, 15, 18, and 20.

12 is the same as 12.0 and 12.00 and 12.000 . It is up to the tool you are using to select the data with, how to display the numbers. Yours either defaults to two digits for decimals or it takes the places from your data definition.

If you only want integers in your column, then change its data type to INT. It makes no sense to use DECIMAL then.

If you want integers and decimals in that column then stay with the DECIMAL type. If you don't like the way you are shown the values, then format them in your application. It's up to that client program to decide for instance if to display point or comma for the decimal separator. (The database can be used from different locations.)

Also don't rely on any database or session settings like a decimal separator being a point and not a comma and then use REPLACE on it. That can work for one person and not for the other.

Bootstrap 3 Horizontal Divider (not in a dropdown)

As I found the default Bootstrap <hr/> size unsightly, here's some simple HTML and CSS to balance out the element visually:

HTML:

<hr class="half-rule"/>

CSS:

.half-rule {
    margin-left: 0;
    text-align: left;
    width: 50%;
 }

Missing Compliance in Status when I add built for internal testing in Test Flight.How to solve?

There's no longer any need to submit a new build or modify Info.plist; instead, follow these steps using an Admin or App Manager account:

  1. Go to the iOS tab at the top left of TestFlight and click the yellow triangle next to the warning to provide this information within iTunes Connect:

enter image description here

  1. Click the "Provide Export Compliance Information" link in the popup:

Export Compliance Information

Though, if you do choose to modify Info.plist, you'll never need to deal with this popup again.

Dynamic WHERE clause in LINQ

Just to share my idea for this case.

Another approach by solution is:

public IOrderedQueryable GetProductList(string productGroupName, string productTypeName, Dictionary> filterDictionary)
{
    return db.ProductDetail
        .where
        (
            p =>
            (
                (String.IsNullOrEmpty(productGroupName) || c.ProductGroupName.Contains(productGroupName))
                && (String.IsNullOrEmpty(productTypeName) || c.ProductTypeName.Contains(productTypeName))
                // Apply similar logic to filterDictionary parameter here !!!
            )
        );
}

This approach is very flexible and allow with any parameter to be nullable.

How do I declare a 2d array in C++ using new?

This question was bugging me - it's a common enough problem that a good solution should already exist, something better than the vector of vectors or rolling your own array indexing.

When something ought to exist in C++ but doesn't, the first place to look is boost.org. There I found the Boost Multidimensional Array Library, multi_array. It even includes a multi_array_ref class that can be used to wrap your own one-dimensional array buffer.

Javascript get the text value of a column from a particular row of an html table

document.getElementById("tblBlah").rows[i].columns[j].innerHTML;

Should be:

document.getElementById("tblBlah").rows[i].cells[j].innerHTML;

But I get the distinct impression that the row/cell you need is the one clicked by the user. If so, the simplest way to achieve this would be attaching an event to the cells in your table:

function alertInnerHTML(e)
{
    e = e || window.event;//IE
    alert(this.innerHTML);
}

var theTbl = document.getElementById('tblBlah');
for(var i=0;i<theTbl.length;i++)
{
    for(var j=0;j<theTbl.rows[i].cells.length;j++)
    {
        theTbl.rows[i].cells[j].onclick = alertInnerHTML;
    }
}

That makes all table cells clickable, and alert it's innerHTML. The event object will be passed to the alertInnerHTML function, in which the this object will be a reference to the cell that was clicked. The event object offers you tons of neat tricks on how you want the click event to behave if, say, there's a link in the cell that was clicked, but I suggest checking the MDN and MSDN (for the window.event object)

What does 'git remote add upstream' help achieve?

The wiki is talking from a forked repo point of view. You have access to pull and push from origin, which will be your fork of the main diaspora repo. To pull in changes from this main repo, you add a remote, "upstream" in your local repo, pointing to this original and pull from it.

So "origin" is a clone of your fork repo, from which you push and pull. "Upstream" is a name for the main repo, from where you pull and keep a clone of your fork updated, but you don't have push access to it.

SQL Group By with an Order By

I don't know about MySQL, but in MS SQL, you can use the column index in the order by clause. I've done this before when doing counts with group bys as it tends to be easier to work with.

So

SELECT COUNT(id), `Tag` from `images-tags`
GROUP BY `Tag`
ORDER BY COUNT(id) DESC
LIMIT 20

Becomes

SELECT COUNT(id), `Tag` from `images-tags`
GROUP BY `Tag`
ORDER 1 DESC
LIMIT 20

How can I add a background thread to flask?

In addition to using pure threads or the Celery queue (note that flask-celery is no longer required), you could also have a look at flask-apscheduler:

https://github.com/viniciuschiele/flask-apscheduler

A simple example copied from https://github.com/viniciuschiele/flask-apscheduler/blob/master/examples/jobs.py:

from flask import Flask
from flask_apscheduler import APScheduler

    JOBS = [
        {
            'id': 'job1',
            'func': 'jobs:job1',
            'args': (1, 2),
            'trigger': 'interval',
            'seconds': 10
        }
    ]

    SCHEDULER_API_ENABLED = True

def job1(a, b):
    print(str(a) + ' ' + str(b))

if __name__ == '__main__':
    app = Flask(__name__)
    app.config.from_object(Config())

    scheduler = APScheduler()
    # it is also possible to enable the API directly
    # scheduler.api_enabled = True
    scheduler.init_app(app)
    scheduler.start()

    app.run()

sql like operator to get the numbers only

With SQL 2012 and later, you could use TRY_CAST/TRY_CONVERT to try converting to a numeric type, e.g. TRY_CAST(answer AS float) IS NOT NULL -- note though that this will match scientific notation too (1+E34). (If you use decimal, then scientific notation won't match)

Linking static libraries to other static libraries

If you are using Visual Studio then yes, you can do this.

The library builder tool that comes with Visual Studio allows you to join libraries together on the command line. I don't know of any way to do this in the visual editor though.

REST - HTTP Post Multipart with JSON

If I understand you correctly, you want to compose a multipart request manually from an HTTP/REST console. The multipart format is simple; a brief introduction can be found in the HTML 4.01 spec. You need to come up with a boundary, which is a string not found in the content, let’s say HereGoes. You set request header Content-Type: multipart/form-data; boundary=HereGoes. Then this should be a valid request body:

--HereGoes
Content-Disposition: form-data; name="myJsonString"
Content-Type: application/json

{"foo": "bar"}
--HereGoes
Content-Disposition: form-data; name="photo"
Content-Type: image/jpeg
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

<...JPEG content in base64...>
--HereGoes--

It has got simple functionality to change timezones (most timezones around 400) and all custom formats u want it to display.

Flatten nested dictionaries, compressing keys

If you're using pandas there is a function hidden in pandas.io.json._normalize1 called nested_to_record which does this exactly.

from pandas.io.json._normalize import nested_to_record

flat = nested_to_record(my_dict, sep='_')

1 In pandas versions 0.24.x and older use pandas.io.json.normalize (without the _)

Content Security Policy "data" not working for base64 Images in Chrome 28

iCheck check if checkbox is checked

Use this method:

$(document).on('ifChanged','SELECTOR', function(event){

jquery fill dropdown with json data

Here is an example of code, that attempts to featch AJAX data from /Ajax/_AjaxGetItemListHelp/ URL. Upon success, it removes all items from dropdown list with id = OfferTransModel_ItemID and then it fills it with new items based on AJAX call's result:

if (productgrpid != 0) {
    $.ajax({
        type: "POST",
        url: "/Ajax/_AjaxGetItemListHelp/",
        data:{text:"sam",OfferTransModel_ItemGrpid:productgrpid},
        contentType: "application/json",
        dataType: "json",
        success: function (data) {
            $("#OfferTransModel_ItemID").empty();

            $.each(data, function () {
                $("#OfferTransModel_ItemID").append($("<option>
                </option>").val(this['ITEMID']).html(this['ITEMDESC']));
            });
        }
    });
}

Returned AJAX result is expected to return data encoded as AJAX array, where each item contains ITEMID and ITEMDESC elements. For example:

{
    {
        "ITEMID":"13",
        "ITEMDESC":"About"
    },
    {
        "ITEMID":"21",
        "ITEMDESC":"Contact"
    }
}

The OfferTransModel_ItemID listbox is populated with above data and its code should look like:

<select id="OfferTransModel_ItemID" name="OfferTransModel[ItemID]">
    <option value="13">About</option>
    <option value="21">Contact</option>
</select>

When user selects About, form submits 13 as value for this field and 21 when user selects Contact and so on.

Fell free to modify above code if your server returns URL in a different format.

Vertical align in bootstrap table

Based on what you have provided your CSS selector is not specific enough to override the CSS rules defined by Bootstrap.

Try this:

.table > tbody > tr > td {
     vertical-align: middle;
}

In Boostrap 4, this can be achieved with the .align-middle Vertical Alignment utility class.

<td class="align-middle">Text</td>

How to split a number into individual digits in c#?

I'd use modulus and a loop.

int[] GetIntArray(int num)
{
    List<int> listOfInts = new List<int>();
    while(num > 0)
    {
        listOfInts.Add(num % 10);
        num = num / 10;
    }
    listOfInts.Reverse();
    return listOfInts.ToArray();
}

Append data frames together in a for loop

Try to use rbindlist approach over rbind as it's very, very fast.

Example:

library(data.table)

##### example 1: slow processing ######

table.1 <- data.frame(x = NA, y = NA)
time.taken <- 0
for( i in 1:100) {
  start.time = Sys.time()
  x <- rnorm(100)
  y <- x/2 +x/3
  z <- cbind.data.frame(x = x, y = y)

  table.1 <- rbind(table.1, z)
  end.time <- Sys.time()
  time.taken  <- (end.time - start.time) + time.taken

}
print(time.taken)
> Time difference of 0.1637917 secs

####example 2: faster processing #####

table.2 <- list()
t0 <- 0
for( i in 1:100) {
  s0 = Sys.time()
  x <- rnorm(100)
  y <- x/2 + x/3

  z <- cbind.data.frame(x = x, y = y)

  table.2[[i]] <- z

  e0 <- Sys.time()
  t0  <- (e0 - s0) + t0

}
s1 = Sys.time()
table.3 <- rbindlist(table.2)
e1 = Sys.time()

t1  <- (e1-s1) + t0
t1
> Time difference of 0.03064394 secs

How to pass a textbox value from view to a controller in MVC 4?

When you want to pass new information to your application, you need to use POST form. In Razor you can use the following

View Code:

@* By default BeginForm use FormMethod.Post *@
@using(Html.BeginForm("Update")){
     @Html.Hidden("id", Model.Id)
     @Html.Hidden("productid", Model.ProductId)
     @Html.TextBox("qty", Model.Quantity)
     @Html.TextBox("unitrate", Model.UnitRate)
     <input type="submit" value="Update" />
}

Controller's actions

[HttpGet]
public ActionResult Update(){
     //[...] retrive your record object
     return View(objRecord);
}

[HttpPost]
public ActionResult Update(string id, string productid, int qty, decimal unitrate)
{
      if (ModelState.IsValid){
           int _records = UpdatePrice(id,productid,qty,unitrate);
           if (_records > 0){                    {
              return RedirectToAction("Index1", "Shopping");
           }else{
                ModelState.AddModelError("","Can Not Update");
           }
      }
      return View("Index1");
 }

Note that alternatively, if you want to use @Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Quantity) you can either have an input with the name (respectecting case) "Quantity" or you can change your POST Update() to receive an object parameter, that would be the same type as your strictly typed view. Here's an example:

Model

public class Record {
    public string Id { get; set; }
    public string ProductId { get; set; }
    public string Quantity { get; set; }
    public decimal UnitRate { get; set; }
}

View

@using(Html.BeginForm("Update")){
     @Html.HiddenFor(model => model.Id)
     @Html.HiddenFor(model => model.ProductId)
     @Html.TextBoxFor(model=> model.Quantity)
     @Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.UnitRate)
     <input type="submit" value="Update" />
}

Post Action

[HttpPost]
public ActionResult Update(Record rec){ //Alternatively you can also use FormCollection object as well
   if(TryValidateModel(rec)){
        //update code
   }
   return View("Index1");
}

How to add a border to a widget in Flutter?

You can add the TextField as a child to a Container that has a BoxDecoration with border property:

enter image description here

new Container(
  margin: const EdgeInsets.all(15.0),
  padding: const EdgeInsets.all(3.0),
  decoration: BoxDecoration(
    border: Border.all(color: Colors.blueAccent)
  ),
  child: Text("My Awesome Border"),
)

How do I change the number of open files limit in Linux?

If you are using Linux and you got the permission error, you will need to raise the allowed limit in the /etc/limits.conf or /etc/security/limits.conf file (where the file is located depends on your specific Linux distribution).

For example to allow anyone on the machine to raise their number of open files up to 10000 add the line to the limits.conf file.

* hard nofile 10000

Then logout and relogin to your system and you should be able to do:

ulimit -n 10000

without a permission error.

MVC4 Passing model from view to controller

I hope this complete example will help you.

This is the TaxiInfo class which holds information about a taxi ride:

namespace Taxi.Models
{
    public class TaxiInfo
    {
        public String Driver { get; set; }
        public Double Fare { get; set; }
        public Double Distance { get; set; }
        public String StartLocation { get; set; }
        public String EndLocation { get; set; }
    }
}

We also have a convenience model which holds a List of TaxiInfo(s):

namespace Taxi.Models
{
    public class TaxiInfoSet
    {
        public List<TaxiInfo> TaxiInfoList { get; set; }

        public TaxiInfoSet(params TaxiInfo[] TaxiInfos)
        {
            TaxiInfoList = new List<TaxiInfo>();

            foreach(var TaxiInfo in TaxiInfos)
            {
                TaxiInfoList.Add(TaxiInfo);
            }
        }
    }
}

Now in the home controller we have the default Index action which for this example makes two taxi drivers and adds them to the list contained in a TaxiInfo:

public ActionResult Index()
{
    var taxi1 = new TaxiInfo() { Fare = 20.2, Distance = 15, Driver = "Billy", StartLocation = "Perth", EndLocation = "Brisbane" };
    var taxi2 = new TaxiInfo() { Fare = 2339.2, Distance = 1500, Driver = "Smith", StartLocation = "Perth", EndLocation = "America" };

    return View(new TaxiInfoSet(taxi1,taxi2));
}

The code for the view is as follows:

@model Taxi.Models.TaxiInfoSet
@{
    ViewBag.Title = "Index";
}

<h2>Index</h2>

@foreach(var TaxiInfo in Model.TaxiInfoList){
    <form>
        <h1>Cost: [email protected]</h1>
        <h2>Distance: @(TaxiInfo.Distance) km</h2>
        <p>
            Our diver, @TaxiInfo.Driver will take you from @TaxiInfo.StartLocation to @TaxiInfo.EndLocation
        </p>
        @Html.ActionLink("Home","Booking",TaxiInfo)
    </form>
}

The ActionLink is responsible for the re-directing to the booking action of the Home controller (and passing in the appropriate TaxiInfo object) which is defiend as follows:

    public ActionResult Booking(TaxiInfo Taxi)
    {
        return View(Taxi);
    }

This returns a the following view:

@model Taxi.Models.TaxiInfo

@{
    ViewBag.Title = "Booking";
}

<h2>Booking For</h2>
<h1>@Model.Driver, going from @Model.StartLocation to @Model.EndLocation (a total of @Model.Distance km) for [email protected]</h1>

It's not an if statement but I prefer this method for code related to your example.

How do I add multiple "NOT LIKE '%?%' in the WHERE clause of sqlite3?

I'm not sure why you're avoiding the AND clause. It is the simplest solution.

Otherwise, you would need to do an INTERSECT of multiple queries:

SELECT word FROM table WHERE word NOT LIKE '%a%'
INTERSECT
SELECT word FROM table WHERE word NOT LIKE '%b%'
INTERSECT
SELECT word FROM table WHERE word NOT LIKE '%c%';

Alternatively, you can use a regular expression if your version of SQL supports it.

How do I type a TAB character in PowerShell?

If it helps you can embed a tab character in a double quoted string:

Dots in URL causes 404 with ASP.NET mvc and IIS

Tried all the solutions above but none of them worked for me. What did work was I uninstalling .NET versions > 4.5, including all its multilingual versions; Eventually I added newer (English only) versions piece by piece. Right now versions installed on my system is this:

  • 2.0
  • 3.0
  • 3.5 4
  • 4.5
  • 4.5.1
  • 4.5.2
  • 4.6
  • 4.6.1

And its still working at this point. I'm afraid to install 4.6.2 because it might mess everything up.

So I could only speculate that either 4.6.2 or all those non-English versions were messing up my configuration.

How should we manage jdk8 stream for null values

Although the answers are 100% correct, a small suggestion to improve null case handling of the list itself with Optional:

 List<String> listOfStuffFiltered = Optional.ofNullable(listOfStuff)
                .orElseGet(Collections::emptyList)
                .stream()
                .filter(Objects::nonNull)
                .collect(Collectors.toList());

The part Optional.ofNullable(listOfStuff).orElseGet(Collections::emptyList) will allow you to handle nicely the case when listOfStuff is null and return an emptyList instead of failing with NullPointerException.

C++ JSON Serialization

The jsoncons C++ header-only library also supports conversion between JSON text and C++ objects. Decode and encode are defined for all C++ classes that have json_type_traits defined. The standard library containers are already supported, and json_type_traits can be specialized for user types in the jsoncons namespace.

Below is an example:

#include <iostream>
#include <jsoncons/json.hpp>

namespace ns {
    enum class hiking_experience {beginner,intermediate,advanced};

    class hiking_reputon
    {
        std::string rater_;
        hiking_experience assertion_;
        std::string rated_;
        double rating_;
    public:
        hiking_reputon(const std::string& rater,
                       hiking_experience assertion,
                       const std::string& rated,
                       double rating)
            : rater_(rater), assertion_(assertion), rated_(rated), rating_(rating)
        {
        }

        const std::string& rater() const {return rater_;}
        hiking_experience assertion() const {return assertion_;}
        const std::string& rated() const {return rated_;}
        double rating() const {return rating_;}
    };

    class hiking_reputation
    {
        std::string application_;
        std::vector<hiking_reputon> reputons_;
    public:

Finding moving average from data points in Python

I think something like:

aves = [sum(data[i:i+6]) for i in range(0, len(data), 5)]

But I always have to double check the indices are doing what I expect. The range you want is (0, 5, 10, ...) and data[0:6] will give you data[0]...data[5]

ETA: oops, and you want ave rather than sum, of course. So actually using your code and the formula:

r = 5
x = data[:,0]
y1 = data[:,1]
y2 = [ave(y1[i-r:i+r]) for i in range(r, len(y1), 2*r)]
y = [y1, y2]

Create a CSV File for a user in PHP

To have it send it as a CSV and have it give the file name, use header():

http://us2.php.net/header

header('Content-type: text/csv');
header('Content-disposition: attachment; filename="myfile.csv"');

As far as making the CSV itself, you would just loop through the result set, formatting the output and sending it, just like you would any other content.

How do I get the last character of a string?

 public char lastChar(String s) {

    char lc = s.charAt(s.length() - 1);
    return lc;
}

Where is the Postgresql config file: 'postgresql.conf' on Windows?

postgresql.conf is located in PostgreSQL's data directory. The data directory is configured during the setup and the setting is saved as PGDATA entry in c:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\<version>\pg_env.bat, for example

@ECHO OFF
REM The script sets environment variables helpful for PostgreSQL

@SET PATH="C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\<version>\bin";%PATH%
@SET PGDATA=D:\PostgreSQL\<version>\data
@SET PGDATABASE=postgres
@SET PGUSER=postgres
@SET PGPORT=5432
@SET PGLOCALEDIR=C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\<version>\share\locale

Alternatively you can query your database with SHOW config_file; if you are a superuser.

JQuery - Storing ajax response into global variable

You don't have to do any of this. I ran into the same problem with my project. what you do is make a function call inside the on success callback to reset the global variable. As long as you got asynchronous javascript set to false it will work correctly. Here is my code. Hope it helps.

var exists;

//function to call inside ajax callback
function set_exists(x){
    exists = x;
}

$.ajax({
    url: "check_entity_name.php",
    type: "POST",
    async: false, // set to false so order of operations is correct
    data: {entity_name : entity},
    success: function(data){
        if(data == true){
            set_exists(true);
        }
        else{
            set_exists(false);
        }
    }
});
if(exists == true){
    return true;
}
else{
    return false;
}

Hope this helps you .

Best way to handle multiple constructors in Java

You need to specify what are the class invariants, i.e. properties which will always be true for an instance of the class (for example, the title of a book will never be null, or the size of a dog will always be > 0).

These invariants should be established during construction, and be preserved along the lifetime of the object, which means that methods shall not break the invariants. The constructors can set these invariants either by having compulsory arguments, or by setting default values:

class Book {
    private String title; // not nullable
    private String isbn;  // nullable

    // Here we provide a default value, but we could also skip the
    // parameterless constructor entirely, to force users of the class to
    // provide a title
    public Book()
    {
        this("Untitled");
    }

    public Book(String title) throws IllegalArgumentException
    {
        if (title == null)
            throw new IllegalArgumentException("Book title can't be null");
        this.title = title;
        // leave isbn without value
    }
    // Constructor with title and isbn
}

However, the choice of these invariants highly depends on the class you're writing, how you'll use it, etc., so there's no definitive answer to your question.

How do I merge dictionaries together in Python?

Starting in Python 3.9, the operator | creates a new dictionary with the merged keys and values from two dictionaries:

# d1 = { 'a': 1, 'b': 2 }
# d2 = { 'b': 1, 'c': 3 }
d3 = d2 | d1
# d3: {'b': 2, 'c': 3, 'a': 1}

This:

Creates a new dictionary d3 with the merged keys and values of d2 and d1. The values of d1 take priority when d2 and d1 share keys.

Also note the |= operator which modifies d2 by merging d1 in, with priority on d1 values:

# d1 = { 'a': 1, 'b': 2 }
# d2 = { 'b': 1, 'c': 3 }
d2 |= d1
# d2: {'b': 2, 'c': 3, 'a': 1}

PostgreSQL: Drop PostgreSQL database through command line

You can run the dropdb command from the command line:

dropdb 'database name'

Note that you have to be a superuser or the database owner to be able to drop it.

You can also check the pg_stat_activity view to see what type of activity is currently taking place against your database, including all idle processes.

SELECT * FROM pg_stat_activity WHERE datname='database name';

Note that from PostgreSQL v13 on, you can disconnect the users automatically with

DROP DATABASE dbname FORCE;

or

dropdb -f dbname

Operator overloading ==, !=, Equals

I think you declared the Equals method like this:

public override bool Equals(BOX obj)

Since the object.Equals method takes an object, there is no method to override with this signature. You have to override it like this:

public override bool Equals(object obj)

If you want type-safe Equals, you can implement IEquatable<BOX>.

How do I center content in a div using CSS?

To align horizontally it's pretty straight forward:

    <style type="text/css">
body  {
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    text-align: center;
}
.bodyclass #container {
    width: ???px; /*SET your width here*/
    margin: 0 auto;
    text-align: left;
}
</style>
<body class="bodyclass ">
<div id="container">type your content here</div>
</body>

and for vertical align, it's a bit tricky: here's the source

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN">
<html>
<head>
  <title>Universal vertical center with CSS</title>
  <style>
    .greenBorder {border: 1px solid green;} /* just borders to see it */
  </style>
</head>

<body>
  <div class="greenBorder" style="display: table; height: 400px; #position: relative; overflow: hidden;">
    <div style=" #position: absolute; #top: 50%;display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle;">
      <div class="greenBorder" style=" #position: relative; #top: -50%">
        any text<br>
        any height<br>
        any content, for example generated from DB<br>
        everything is vertically centered
      </div>
    </div>
  </div>
</body>
</html>

Create a <ul> and fill it based on a passed array

What are disadvantages of the following solution? Seems to be faster and shorter.

var options = {
    set0: ['Option 1','Option 2'],
    set1: ['First Option','Second Option','Third Option']
};

var list = "<li>" + options.set0.join("</li><li>") + "</li>";
document.getElementById("list").innerHTML = list;

How to post a file from a form with Axios

Add the file to a formData object, and set the Content-Type header to multipart/form-data.

Android Studio - Importing external Library/Jar

Check the libs version requirements. The lib might be trying to call a method from from a higher Android version. Try adding the apps compatability libs.

When all else fails try switching from a Gradle build to an Eclipse build.

Delete and restructure your folders to the eclipse style and delete everything but your code. Then reload the project with your libs.

Once it runs go back to Gradle, if you wish.

CentOS: Copy directory to another directory

To copy all files, including hidden files use:

cp -r /home/server/folder/test/. /home/server/

JPA or JDBC, how are they different?

JDBC is the predecessor of JPA.

JDBC is a bridge between the Java world and the databases world. In JDBC you need to expose all dirty details needed for CRUD operations, such as table names, column names, while in JPA (which is using JDBC underneath), you also specify those details of database metadata, but with the use of Java annotations.

So JPA creates update queries for you and manages the entities that you looked up or created/updated (it does more as well).

If you want to do JPA without a Java EE container, then Spring and its libraries may be used with the very same Java annotations.

How to use Select2 with JSON via Ajax request?

Here you have an example

$("#profiles-thread").select2({
    minimumInputLength: 2,
    tags: [],
    ajax: {
        url: URL,
        dataType: 'json',
        type: "GET",
        quietMillis: 50,
        data: function (term) {
            return {
                term: term
            };
        },
        results: function (data) {
            return {
                results: $.map(data, function (item) {
                    return {
                        text: item.completeName,
                        slug: item.slug,
                        id: item.id
                    }
                })
            };
        }
    }
});

It's quite easy

System.BadImageFormatException An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format

I had the same issue when getting my software running on another machine. On my developer pc (Windows 7), I had Visual Studio 2015 installed, the target pc was a clean installation of Windows 10 (.Net installed). I also tested it on another clean Windows 7 pc including .Net Framework. However, on both target pc's I needed to install the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 package for x86 or x64 (depends on what your application is build for). That was already installed on my developer pc.

My application was using a C library, which has been compiled to a C++ application using /clr and /TP options in visual studio. Also the application was providing functions to C# by using dllexport method signatures. Not sure if the C# integration leaded to give me that error or if a C++ application would have given me the same.

Hope it helps anybody.

Install apk without downloading

For this your android application must have uploaded into the android market. when you upload it on the android market then use the following code to open the market with your android application.

    Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW,Uri.parse("market://details?id=<packagename>"));
startActivity(intent);

If you want it to download and install from your own server then use the following code

Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW,Uri.parse("http://www.example.com/sample/test.apk"));
    startActivity(intent);

How can I create directory tree in C++/Linux?

Easy with Boost.Filesystem: create_directories

#include <boost/filesystem.hpp>
//...
boost::filesystem::create_directories("/tmp/a/b/c");

Returns: true if a new directory was created, otherwise false.

Static class initializer in PHP

There is a way to call the init() method once and forbid it's usage, you can turn the function into private initializer and ivoke it after class declaration like this:

class Example {
    private static function init() {
        // do whatever needed for class initialization
    }
}
(static function () {
    static::init();
})->bindTo(null, Example::class)();

How can we dynamically allocate and grow an array

public class Arr {

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        // TODO Auto-generated method stub
        int a[] = {1,2,3};
        //let a[] is your original array
        System.out.println(a[0] + " " + a[1] + " " + a[2]);
        int b[];
        //let b[] is your temporary array with size greater than a[]
        //I have took 5
        b = new int[5];
        //now assign all a[] values to b[]
        for(int i = 0 ; i < a.length ; i ++)
            b[i] = a[i];
        //add next index values to b
        b[3] = 4;
        b[4] = 5;
        //now assign b[] to a[]
        a = b;
        //now you can heck that size of an original array increased
        System.out.println(a[0] + " " + a[1] + " " + a[2] + " " + a[3] + " "
    + a[4]);
    }

}

Output for the above code is:

1 2 3

1 2 3 4 5

How do I recognize "#VALUE!" in Excel spreadsheets?

in EXCEL 2013 i had to use IF function 2 times: 1st to identify error with ISERROR and 2nd to identify the specific type of error by ERROR.TYPE=3 in order to address this type of error. This way you can differentiate between error you want and other types.

how to remove css property using javascript?

You have two options:

OPTION 1:

You can use removeProperty method. It will remove a style from an element.

el.style.removeProperty('zoom');

OPTION 2:

You can set it to the default value:

el.style.zoom = "";

The effective zoom will now be whatever follows from the definitions set in the stylesheets (through link and style tags). So this syntax will only modify the local style of this element.

Fix CSS hover on iPhone/iPad/iPod

I"m not sure if this will have a huge impact on performance but this has done the trick for me in the past:

var mobileHover = function () {
    $('*').on('touchstart', function () {
        $(this).trigger('hover');
    }).on('touchend', function () {
        $(this).trigger('hover');
    });
};

mobileHover();

Create dataframe from a matrix

If you change your time column into row names, then you can use as.data.frame(as.table(mat)) for simple cases like this.

Example:

data <- c(0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5)
dimnames <- list(time=c(0, 0.5, 1), name=c("C_0", "C_1"))
mat <- matrix(data, ncol=2, nrow=3, dimnames=dimnames)
as.data.frame(as.table(mat))
  time name Freq
1    0  C_0  0.1
2  0.5  C_0  0.2
3    1  C_0  0.3
4    0  C_1  0.3
5  0.5  C_1  0.4
6    1  C_1  0.5

In this case time and name are both factors. You may want to convert time back to numeric, or it may not matter.

CASE (Contains) rather than equal statement

Pseudo code, something like:

CASE
  When CHARINDEX('lactulose', dbo.Table.Column) > 0 Then 'BP Medication'
ELSE ''
END AS 'Medication Type'

This does not care where the keyword is found in the list and avoids depending on formatting of spaces and commas.

Change Text Color of Selected Option in a Select Box

JQuery Code:

$('#mySelect').change(function () {
    $('#mySelect').css("background", $("select option:selected").css("background-color"));
});

This will replace the select's background-color with selected option's background-color.

Here is an example fiddle.

Memcache Vs. Memcached

They are not identical. Memcache is older but it has some limitations. I was using just fine in my application until I realized you can't store literal FALSE in cache. Value FALSE returned from the cache is the same as FALSE returned when a value is not found in the cache. There is no way to check which is which. Memcached has additional method (among others) Memcached::getResultCode that will tell you whether key was found.

Because of this limitation I switched to storing empty arrays instead of FALSE in cache. I am still using Memcache, but I just wanted to put this info out there for people who are deciding.

Run Stored Procedure in SQL Developer?

I wasn't able to get @Alex Poole answers working. However, by trial and error, I found the following works (using SQL Developer version 3.0.04). Posting it here in case it helps others:

SET serveroutput on;

    var InParam2 number;
    var OutParam1 varchar2(100);
    var OutParam2 varchar2(100);

    var OutParam4 number;

    InParam1 := 33;
    InParam2 := 89;

    /* Call procedure within package, identifying schema if necessary */
    schema.package.procedure(InParam1, InParam2,
        OutParam1, OutParam2, OutParam3, OutParam4);

Exiting out of a FOR loop in a batch file?

Based on Tim's second edit and this page you could do this:

cmd /v:on /q /d /c "%0 loop"
echo done

This page suggests a way to use a goto inside a loop, it seems it does work, but it takes some time in a large loop. So internally it finishes the loop before the goto is executed.

Clear MySQL query cache without restarting server

RESET QUERY CACHE

Looping over elements in jQuery

I have used the following before:

var my_form = $('#form-id');
var data = {};

$('input:not([type=checkbox]), input[type=checkbox]:selected, select, textarea', my_form).each(
    function() {
        var name = $(this).attr('name');
        var val = $(this).val();

        if (!data.hasOwnProperty(name)) {
            data[name] = new Array;
        }

        data[name].push(val);
    }
);

This is just written from memory, so might contain mistakes, but this should make an object called data that contains the values for all your inputs.

Note that you have to deal with checkboxes in a special way, to avoid getting the values of unchecked checkboxes. The same is probably true of radio inputs.

Also note using arrays for storing the values, as for one input name, you might have values from several inputs (checkboxes in particular).

What's the difference between HEAD, working tree and index, in Git?

Your working tree is what is actually in the files that you are currently working on.

HEAD is a pointer to the branch or commit that you last checked out, and which will be the parent of a new commit if you make it. For instance, if you're on the master branch, then HEAD will point to master, and when you commit, that new commit will be a descendent of the revision that master pointed to, and master will be updated to point to the new commit.

The index is a staging area where the new commit is prepared. Essentially, the contents of the index are what will go into the new commit (though if you do git commit -a, this will automatically add all changes to files that Git knows about to the index before committing, so it will commit the current contents of your working tree). git add will add or update files from the working tree into your index.

Centering FontAwesome icons vertically and horizontally

If you are using twitter Bootstrap add the class text-center to your code.

Case-Insensitive List Search

You can use StringComparer:

    var list = new List<string>();
    list.Add("cat");
    list.Add("dog");
    list.Add("moth");

    if (list.Contains("MOTH", StringComparer.OrdinalIgnoreCase))
    {
        Console.WriteLine("found");
    }

Set NA to 0 in R

You can just use the output of is.na to replace directly with subsetting:

bothbeams.data[is.na(bothbeams.data)] <- 0

Or with a reproducible example:

dfr <- data.frame(x=c(1:3,NA),y=c(NA,4:6))
dfr[is.na(dfr)] <- 0
dfr
  x y
1 1 0
2 2 4
3 3 5
4 0 6

However, be careful using this method on a data frame containing factors that also have missing values:

> d <- data.frame(x = c(NA,2,3),y = c("a",NA,"c"))
> d[is.na(d)] <- 0
Warning message:
In `[<-.factor`(`*tmp*`, thisvar, value = 0) :
  invalid factor level, NA generated

It "works":

> d
  x    y
1 0    a
2 2 <NA>
3 3    c

...but you likely will want to specifically alter only the numeric columns in this case, rather than the whole data frame. See, eg, the answer below using dplyr::mutate_if.

CSS background image URL failing to load

You are using a local path. Is that really what you want? If it is, you need to use the file:/// prefix:

file:///H:/media/css/static/img/sprites/buttons-v3-10.png

obviously, this will work only on your local computer.

Also, in many modern browsers, this works only if the page itself is also on a local file path. Addressing local files from remote (http://, https://) pages has been widely disabled due to security reasons.

Corrupted Access .accdb file: "Unrecognized Database Format"

WE had this problem on one machine and not another...the solution is to look in control panel at the VERSION of the Access Database Engine 2007 component. If it is version 12.0.45, you need to run the service pack 3 http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=27835

The above link will install version 12.0.66...and this fixes the problem...thought I would post it since I haven't seen this solution on any other forum.

How do I parse JSON from a Java HTTPResponse?

You can use the Gson library for parsing

    String response = EntityUtils.toString(httpResponse.getEntity());

    Gson gson = new Gson();
    MyClass myClassObj = gson.fromJson(response, MyClass.class);

HTH

The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>)

For those using Telerik as mentioned by Ovar, make sure you wrap your javascript in

 <telerik:RadScriptBlock ID="radSript1" runat="server">
   <script type="text/javascript">
        //Your javascript
   </script>
</telerik>

Since Telerik doesn't recognize <%# %> when looking for an element and <%= %> will give you an error if your javascript code isn't wrapped.

Eclipse doesn't stop at breakpoints

Breakpoints have seemed to work and not-work on the versions of Eclipse I've used the last couple years. Currently I'm using Juno and just experienced breakpoints-not-working again. The solutions above, although good ones, didn't work in my case.

Here's what worked in my case:

  1. deleted the project

  2. check it back out from svn

  3. import it into Eclipse again

  4. run "mvn eclipse:eclipse"

Since the project is also a Groovy/Http-bulder/junit-test project, I had to:

  1. convert the project from Java to Groovy

  2. add /src/test/groovy to the Java Build Path (Source folders on build path)

  3. include "**/*.groovy" on the Java Build Path for /src/test/groovy

Difference between getContext() , getApplicationContext() , getBaseContext() and "this"

Most answers already cover getContext() and getApplicationContext() but getBaseContext() is rarely explained.

The method getBaseContext() is only relevant when you have a ContextWrapper. Android provides a ContextWrapper class that is created around an existing Context using:

ContextWrapper wrapper = new ContextWrapper(context);

The benefit of using a ContextWrapper is that it lets you “modify behavior without changing the original Context”. For example, if you have an activity called myActivity then can create a View with a different theme than myActivity:

ContextWrapper customTheme = new ContextWrapper(myActivity) {
  @Override
  public Resources.Theme getTheme() {
    return someTheme;
  }
}
View myView = new MyView(customTheme);

ContextWrapper is really powerful because it lets you override most functions provided by Context including code to access resources (e.g. openFileInput(), getString()), interact with other components (e.g. sendBroadcast(), registerReceiver()), requests permissions (e.g. checkCallingOrSelfPermission()) and resolving file system locations (e.g. getFilesDir()). ContextWrapper is really useful to work around device/version specific problems or to apply one-off customizations to components such as Views that require a context.

The method getBaseContext() can be used to access the “base” Context that the ContextWrapper wraps around. You might need to access the “base” context if you need to, for example, check whether it’s a Service, Activity or Application:

public class CustomToast {
  public void makeText(Context context, int resId, int duration) {
    while (context instanceof ContextWrapper) {
      context = context.baseContext();
    }
    if (context instanceof Service)) {
      throw new RuntimeException("Cannot call this from a service");
    }
    ...
  }
}

Or if you need to call the “unwrapped” version of a method:

class MyCustomWrapper extends ContextWrapper {
  @Override
  public Drawable getWallpaper() {
    if (BuildInfo.DEBUG) {
      return mDebugBackground;
    } else {
      return getBaseContext().getWallpaper();
    }
  }
}

How to implement the --verbose or -v option into a script?

My suggestion is to use a function. But rather than putting the if in the function, which you might be tempted to do, do it like this:

if verbose:
    def verboseprint(*args):
        # Print each argument separately so caller doesn't need to
        # stuff everything to be printed into a single string
        for arg in args:
           print arg,
        print
else:
    verboseprint = lambda *a: None      # do-nothing function

(Yes, you can define a function in an if statement, and it'll only get defined if the condition is true!)

If you're using Python 3, where print is already a function (or if you're willing to use print as a function in 2.x using from __future__ import print_function) it's even simpler:

verboseprint = print if verbose else lambda *a, **k: None

This way, the function is defined as a do-nothing if verbose mode is off (using a lambda), instead of constantly testing the verbose flag.

If the user could change the verbosity mode during the run of your program, this would be the wrong approach (you'd need the if in the function), but since you're setting it with a command-line flag, you only need to make the decision once.

You then use e.g. verboseprint("look at all my verbosity!", object(), 3) whenever you want to print a "verbose" message.

What is the difference between ng-if and ng-show/ng-hide

@EdSpencer is correct. If you have a lot of elements and you use ng-if to only instantiate the relevant ones, you are saving resources. @CodeHater is also somewhat correct, if you are going to remove and show an element very often, hiding it instead of removing it could improve performance.

The main use case I find for ng-if is that it allows me to cleanly validate and eliminte an element if the contents is illegal. For instance I could reference to a null image name variable and that will throw an error but if I ng-if and check if it's null, it's all good. If I did an ng-show, the error would still fire.

Objective-C: Extract filename from path string

If you're displaying a user-readable file name, you do not want to use lastPathComponent. Instead, pass the full path to NSFileManager's displayNameAtPath: method. This basically does does the same thing, only it correctly localizes the file name and removes the extension based on the user's preferences.

Binding Button click to a method

I do this all the time. Here's a look at an example and how you would implement it.

Change your XAML to use the Command property of the button instead of the Click event. I am using the name SaveCommand since it is easier to follow then something named Command.

<Button Command="{Binding Path=SaveCommand}" />

Your CustomClass that the Button is bound to now needs to have a property called SaveCommand of type ICommand. It needs to point to the method on the CustomClass that you want to run when the command is executed.

public MyCustomClass
{
    private ICommand _saveCommand;

    public ICommand SaveCommand
    {
        get
        {
            if (_saveCommand == null)
            {
                _saveCommand = new RelayCommand(
                    param => this.SaveObject(),
                    param => this.CanSave()
                );
            }
            return _saveCommand;
        }
    }

    private bool CanSave()
    {
        // Verify command can be executed here
    }

    private void SaveObject()
    {
        // Save command execution logic
    }
}

The above code uses a RelayCommand which accepts two parameters: the method to execute, and a true/false value of if the command can execute or not. The RelayCommand class is a separate .cs file with the code shown below. I got it from Josh Smith :)

/// <summary>
/// A command whose sole purpose is to
/// relay its functionality to other
/// objects by invoking delegates. The
/// default return value for the CanExecute
/// method is 'true'.

            throw new ArgumentNullException("execute");

        _execute = execute;
        _canExecute = canExecute;
    }

    #endregion // Constructors

    #region ICommand Members

    {
        return _canExecute == null ? true : _canExecute(parameters);
    }

    public event EventHandler CanExecuteChanged
    {
        add { CommandManager.RequerySuggested += value; }
        remove { CommandManager.RequerySuggested -= value; }
    }

How to implement drop down list in flutter?

For the solution, scroll to the end of the answer.

First of all, let's investigate what the error says (I have cited the error that's thrown with Flutter 1.2, but the idea is the same):

Failed assertion: line 560 pos 15: 'items == null || items.isEmpty || value == null || items.where((DropdownMenuItem item) => item.value == value).length == 1': is not true.

There are four or conditions. At least one of them must be fulfilled:

  • Items (a list of DropdownMenuItem widgets) were provided. This eliminates items == null.
  • Non-empty list was provided. This eliminates items.isEmpty.
  • A value (_selectedLocation) was also given. This eliminates value == null. Note that this is DropdownButton's value, not DropdownMenuItem's value.

Hence only the last check is left. It boils down to something like:

Iterate through DropdownMenuItem's. Find all that have a value that's equal to _selectedLocation. Then, check how many items matching it were found. There must be exactly one widget that has this value. Otherwise, throw an error.

The way code is presented, there is not a DropdownMenuItem widget that has a value of _selectedLocation. Instead, all the widgets have their value set to null. Since null != _selectedLocation, last condition fails. Verify this by setting _selectedLocation to null - the app should run.

To fix the issue, we first need to set a value on each DropdownMenuItem (so that something could be passed to onChanged callback):

return DropdownMenuItem(
    child: new Text(location),
    value: location,
);

The app will still fail. This is because your list still does not contain _selectedLocation's value. You can make the app work in two ways:

  • Option 1. Add another widget that has the value (to satisfy items.where((DropdownMenuItem<T> item) => item.value == value).length == 1). Might be useful if you want to let the user re-select Please choose a location option.
  • Option 2. Pass something to hint: paremter and set selectedLocation to null (to satisfy value == null condition). Useful if you don't want Please choose a location to remain an option.

See the code below that shows how to do it:

import 'package:flutter/material.dart';

void main() {
  runApp(Example());
}

class Example extends StatefulWidget {
  @override
  State<StatefulWidget> createState() => _ExampleState();
}

class _ExampleState extends State<Example> {
//  List<String> _locations = ['Please choose a location', 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D']; // Option 1
//  String _selectedLocation = 'Please choose a location'; // Option 1
  List<String> _locations = ['A', 'B', 'C', 'D']; // Option 2
  String _selectedLocation; // Option 2

  @override
  Widget build(BuildContext context) {
    return MaterialApp(
      home: Scaffold(
        body: Center(
          child: DropdownButton(
            hint: Text('Please choose a location'), // Not necessary for Option 1
            value: _selectedLocation,
            onChanged: (newValue) {
              setState(() {
                _selectedLocation = newValue;
              });
            },
            items: _locations.map((location) {
              return DropdownMenuItem(
                child: new Text(location),
                value: location,
              );
            }).toList(),
          ),
        ),
      ),
    );

Vector of structs initialization

If you want to use the new current standard, you can do so:

sub.emplace_back ("Math", 70, 0);

or

sub.push_back ({"Math", 70, 0});

These don't require default construction of subject.

What are these attributes: `aria-labelledby` and `aria-hidden`

Aria is used to improve the user experience of visually impaired users. Visually impaired users navigate though application using screen reader software like JAWS, NVDA,.. While navigating through the application, screen reader software announces content to users. Aria can be used to add content in the code which helps screen reader users understand role, state, label and purpose of the control

Aria does not change anything visually. (Aria is scared of designers too).

aria-hidden:

aria-hidden attribute is used to hide content for visually impaired users who navigate through application using screen readers (JAWS, NVDA,...).

aria-hidden attribute is used with values true, false.

How To Use:

<i class = "fa fa-books" aria-hidden = "true"></i>

using aria-hidden = "true" on the <i> hides content to screen reader users with no visual change in the application.

aria-label

aria-label attribute is used to communicate the label to screen reader users. Usually search input field does not have visual label (thanks to designers). aria-label can be used to communicate the label of control to screen reader users

How To Use:

<input type = "edit" aria-label = "search" placeholder = "search">

There is no visual change in application. But screen readers can understand the purpose of control

aria-labelledby

Both aria-label and aria-labelledby is used to communicate the label. But aria-labelledby can be used to reference any label already present in the page whereas aria-label is used to communicate the label which i not displayed visually

Approach 1:

<span id = "sd"> Search </span>

<input type = "text" aria-labelledby = "sd">

aria-labelledby can also be used to combine two labels for screen reader users

Approach 2:

<span id = "de"> Billing Address </span>

<span id = "sd"> First Name </span>

<input type = "text" aria-labelledby = "de sd">

How to check if a string contains an element from a list in Python

It is better to parse the URL properly - this way you can handle http://.../file.doc?foo and http://.../foo.doc/file.exe correctly.

path = urlparse(url_string).path
ext = os.path.splitext(path)[1]
if ext in extensionsToCheck:

How do I rename both a Git local and remote branch name?

I use these git alias and it pretty much does the job automatic:

git config --global alias.move '!git checkout master; git branch -m $1 $2; git status; git push --delete origin $1; git status; git push -u origin $2; git branch -a; exit;'

Usage: git move FROM_BRANCH TO_BRANCH

It works if you have the default names like master, origin etc. You can modify as you wish but it gives you the idea.

I'm just going to provide this answer as an alternative @IHeartAndroid's recursive algorithm for discovering all child Views in a view hierarchy. Note that at the time of this writing, the recursive solution is flawed in that it will contains duplicates in its result.

For those who have trouble wrapping their head around recursion, here's a non-recursive alternative. You get bonus points for realizing this is also a breadth-first search alternative to the depth-first approach of the recursive solution.

private List<View> getAllChildrenBFS(View v) {
    List<View> visited = new ArrayList<View>();
    List<View> unvisited = new ArrayList<View>();
    unvisited.add(v);

    while (!unvisited.isEmpty()) {
        View child = unvisited.remove(0);
        visited.add(child);
        if (!(child instanceof ViewGroup)) continue;
        ViewGroup group = (ViewGroup) child;
        final int childCount = group.getChildCount();
        for (int i=0; i<childCount; i++) unvisited.add(group.getChildAt(i));
    }

    return visited;
}

A couple of quick tests (nothing formal) suggest this alternative is also faster, although that has most likely to do with the number of new ArrayList instances the other answer creates. Also, results may vary based on how vertical/horizontal the view hierarchy is.

How to stop the Timer in android?

It says timer() is not available on android? You might find this article useful.

http://developer.android.com/resources/articles/timed-ui-updates.html

I was wrong. Timer() is available. It seems you either implement it the way it is one shot operation:

schedule(TimerTask task, Date when) // Schedule a task for single execution.

Or you cancel it after the first execution:

cancel() // Cancels the Timer and all scheduled tasks.

How to initialize/instantiate a custom UIView class with a XIB file in Swift

Swift 4

Here in my case I have to pass data into that custom view, so I create static function to instantiate the view.

  1. Create UIView extension

    extension UIView {
        class func initFromNib<T: UIView>() -> T {
            return Bundle.main.loadNibNamed(String(describing: self), owner: nil, options: nil)?[0] as! T
        }
    }

  2. Create MyCustomView

    class MyCustomView: UIView {

        @IBOutlet weak var messageLabel: UILabel!

        static func instantiate(message: String) -> MyCustomView {
            let view: MyCustomView = initFromNib()
            view.messageLabel.text = message
            return view
        }
    }

  3. Set custom class to MyCustomView in .xib file. Connect outlet if necessary as usual. enter image description here

  4. Instantiate view

    let view = MyCustomView.instantiate(message: "Hello World.")

Replace line break characters with <br /> in ASP.NET MVC Razor view

Split on newlines (environment agnostic) and print regularly -- no need to worry about encoding or xss:

@if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(text))
{
    var lines = text.Split(new[] { '\r', '\n' }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries);
    foreach (var line in lines)
    {
        <p>@line</p>
    }
}

(remove empty entries is optional)

How to present a simple alert message in java?

Call "setWarningMsg()" Method and pass the text that you want to show.

exm:- setWarningMsg("thank you for using java");

public static void setWarningMsg(String text){
    Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().beep();
    JOptionPane optionPane = new JOptionPane(text,JOptionPane.WARNING_MESSAGE);
    JDialog dialog = optionPane.createDialog("Warning!");
    dialog.setAlwaysOnTop(true);
    dialog.setVisible(true);
}

Or Just use

JOptionPane optionPane = new JOptionPane("thank you for using java",JOptionPane.WARNING_MESSAGE);
JDialog dialog = optionPane.createDialog("Warning!");
dialog.setAlwaysOnTop(true); // to show top of all other application
dialog.setVisible(true); // to visible the dialog

You can use JOptionPane. (WARNING_MESSAGE or INFORMATION_MESSAGE or ERROR_MESSAGE)

How do I make this file.sh executable via double click?

You can just tell Finder to open the .sh file in Terminal:

  1. Select the file
  2. Get Info (cmd-i) on it
  3. In the "Open with" section, choose "Other…" in the popup menu
  4. Choose Terminal as the application

This will have the exact same effect as renaming it to .command except… you don't have to rename it :)

How can I change the default Mysql connection timeout when connecting through python?

MAX_EXECUTION_TIME is also an important parameter for long running queries.Will work for MySQL 5.7 or later.

Check the current value

SELECT @@GLOBAL.MAX_EXECUTION_TIME, @@SESSION.MAX_EXECUTION_TIME;

Then set it according to your needs.

SET SESSION MAX_EXECUTION_TIME=2000;
SET GLOBAL MAX_EXECUTION_TIME=2000;

Excel doesn't update value unless I hit Enter

This doesn't sound intuitive but select the column you're having the issue with and use "text to column" and just press finish. This is the suggested answer from Excel help as well. For some reason in converts text to numbers.

Encoding URL query parameters in Java

The built in Java URLEncoder is doing what it's supposed to, and you should use it.

A "+" or "%20" are both valid replacements for a space character in a URL. Either one will work.

A ":" should be encoded, as it's a separator character. i.e. http://foo or ftp://bar. The fact that a particular browser can handle it when it's not encoded doesn't make it correct. You should encode them.

As a matter of good practice, be sure to use the method that takes a character encoding parameter. UTF-8 is generally used there, but you should supply it explicitly.

URLEncoder.encode(yourUrl, "UTF-8");

What is the canonical way to trim a string in Ruby without creating a new string?

Btw, now ruby already supports just strip without "!".

Compare:

p "abc".strip! == " abc ".strip!  # false, because "abc".strip! will return nil
p "abc".strip == " abc ".strip    # true

Also it's impossible to strip without duplicates. See sources in string.c:

static VALUE
rb_str_strip(VALUE str)
{
    str = rb_str_dup(str);
    rb_str_strip_bang(str);
    return str;
}

ruby 1.9.3p0 (2011-10-30) [i386-mingw32]

Update 1: As I see now -- it was created in 1999 year (see rev #372 in SVN):

Update2: strip! will not create duplicates — both in 1.9.x, 2.x and trunk versions.

crop text too long inside div

Below code will hide your text with fixed width you decide. but not quite right for responsive designs.

.CropLongTexts {
  width: 170px;
  white-space: nowrap;
  overflow: hidden;
  text-overflow: ellipsis;
}

Update

I have noticed in (mobile) device(s) that the text (mixed) with each other due to (fixed width)... so i have edited the code above to become hidden responsively as follow:

.CropLongTexts {
  max-width: 170px;
  white-space: nowrap;
  overflow: hidden;
  text-overflow: ellipsis;
}

The (max-width) ensure the text will be hidden responsively whatever the (screen size) and will not mixed with each other.

Default password of mysql in ubuntu server 16.04

I had a fresh installation of mysql-server on Ubuntu 18.10 and couldn't login with default password. Then only I got to know that by default root user is authenticated using auth_socket. So as in the answer when the plugin changed to mysql_native_password, we can use mysql default password

$ sudo apt install mysql-server
$ sudo cat /etc/mysql/debian.cnf

You can find the following lines in there

user     = debian-sys-maint
password = password_for_the_user

Then:

$ mysql -u debian-sys-maint -p
Enter password:

type the password from debian.cnf

mysql> USE mysql
mysql> SELECT User, Host, plugin FROM mysql.user;

+------------------+-----------+-----------------------+
| User             | Host      | plugin                |
+------------------+-----------+-----------------------+
| root             | localhost | auth_socket           |
| mysql.session    | localhost | mysql_native_password |
| mysql.sys        | localhost | mysql_native_password |
| debian-sys-maint | localhost | mysql_native_password |
+------------------+-----------+-----------------------+
4 rows in set (0.00 sec)

mysql> UPDATE user SET plugin='mysql_native_password' WHERE User='root';
mysql> COMMIT;

Either:

mysql> ALTER USER 'root'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'new_password';

Or:

// For MySQL 5.7+

mysql>UPDATE mysql.user SET authentication_string=PASSWORD('new_password') where user='root';

--Update--

Sometimes you will need to restart your mysql server.

sudo service mysql restart

or

sudo systemctl restart mysql

I was having the same issue. Just avoid using an emulator with SDK 27. SDK 26 works fine!

Comprehensive beginner's virtualenv tutorial?

Virtualenv is a tool to create isolated Python environments.

Let's say you're working in 2 different projects, A and B. Project A is a web project and the team is using the following packages:

  • Python 2.8.x
  • Django 1.6.x

The project B is also a web project but your team is using:

  • Python 2.7.x
  • Django 1.4.x

The machine that you're working doesn't have any version of django, what should you do? Install django 1.4? django 1.6? If you install django 1.4 globally would be easy to point to django 1.6 to work in project A?

Virtualenv is your solution! You can create 2 different virtualenv's, one for project A and another for project B. Now, when you need to work in project A, just activate the virtualenv for project A, and vice-versa.

A better tip when using virtualenv is to install virtualenvwrapper to manage all the virtualenv's that you have, easily. It's a wrapper for creating, working, removing virtualenv's.

What is the Difference Between Mercurial and Git?

There is a dynamic comparison chart over at the versioncontrolblog where you can compare several different version control systems.

Error handling with try and catch in Laravel

You are inside a namespace so you should use \Exception to specify the global namespace:

try {

  $this->buildXMLHeader();

} catch (\Exception $e) {

    return $e->getMessage();
}

In your code you've used catch (Exception $e) so Exception is being searched in/as:

App\Services\PayUService\Exception

Since there is no Exception class inside App\Services\PayUService so it's not being triggered. Alternatively, you can use a use statement at the top of your class like use Exception; and then you can use catch (Exception $e).

Exception : javax.net.ssl.SSLPeerUnverifiedException: peer not authenticated

Expired certificate was the cause of our "javax.net.ssl.SSLPeerUnverifiedException: peer not authenticated".

MySQL VARCHAR size?

100 characters.

This is the var (variable) in varchar: you only store what you enter (and an extra 2 bytes to store length upto 65535)

If it was char(200) then you'd always store 200 characters, padded with 100 spaces

See the docs: "The CHAR and VARCHAR Types"

How to push files to an emulator instance using Android Studio

I am using Android Studio 3.3.

Go to View -> Tools Window -> Device File Explorer. Or you can find it on the Bottom Right corner of the Android Studio.

Why is Tkinter Entry's get function returning nothing?

*

master = Tk()
entryb1 = StringVar

Label(master, text="Input: ").grid(row=0, sticky=W)

Entry(master, textvariable=entryb1).grid(row=1, column=1)

b1 = Button(master, text="continue", command=print_content)
b1.grid(row=2, column=1)

def print_content():
    global entryb1
    content = entryb1.get()
    print(content)

master.mainloop()

What you did wrong was not put it inside a Define function then you hadn't used the .get function with the textvariable you had set.

How does the ARM architecture differ from x86?

Additional to Jerry Coffin's first paragraph. Ie, ARM design gives lower power consumption.

The company ARM, only licenses the CPU technology. They don't make physical chips. This allows other companies to add various peripheral technologies, typically called SOC or system-on-chip. Whether the device is a tablet, a cell phone, or an in-car entertainment system. This allows chip vendors to tailor the rest of the chip to a particular application. This has additional benefits,

  1. Lower board cost
  2. Lower power (note1)
  3. Easier manufacture
  4. Smaller form factor

ARM supports SOC vendors with AMBA, allowing SOC implementers to purchase off the shelf 3rd party modules; like an Ethernet, memory and interrupt controllers. Some other CPU platforms support this, like MIPS, but MIPS is not as power conscious.

All of these are beneficial to a handheld/battery operated design. Some are just good all around. As well, ARM has a history of battery operated devices; Apple Newton, Psion Organizers. The PDA software infra-structure was leveraged by some companies to create smart phone type devices. Although, more success was had by those who re-invented the GUI for use with a smart phone.

The rise of Open source tool sets and operating systems also facilitated the various SOC chips. A closed organization would have issues trying to support all the various devices available for the ARM. The two most popular cellular platforms, Andriod and OSx/IOS, are based up Linux and FreeBSD, Mach and NetBSD os's. Open Source helps SOC vendors provide software support for their chip sets.

Hopefully, why x86 is used for the keyboard is self-evident. It has the software, and more importantly people trained to use that software. Netwinder is one ARM system that was originally designed for the keyboard. Also, manufacturer's are currently looking at ARM64 for the server market. Power/heat is a concern at 24/7 data centers.

So I would say that the ecosystem that grows around these chips is as important as features like low power consumption. ARM has been striving for low power, higher performance computing for some time (mid to late 1980's) and they have a lot of people on board.

Note1: Multiple chips need bus drivers to inter-communicate at known voltages and drive. Also, typically separate chips need support capacitors and other power components which can be shared in an SOC system.

How to increase editor font size?

By default, Android Studio doesn't allow the normal CTRL + Mouse scroll to zoom in or out. You can enable it in the settings, though it seems its location has changed over time. Mac users are well documented in other answers, but I use Windows.

For Windows users in Android Studio 3.4, you go to File -> Settings -> General, then check the box Change font size (Zoom) with Ctrl+Mouse Wheel. See below:

I was also looking for a simple multi select for my company. I wanted something simple, highly customizable and with no big dependencies others than jQuery.

I didn't found one fitting my needs so I decided to code my own.
I use it in production.

Javascript Audio Play on click

That worked

<audio src="${ song.url }" id="audio"></audio>
<i class="glyphicon glyphicon-play-circle b-play" id="play" onclick="play()"></i>

<script>
    function play() {
        var audio = document.getElementById('audio');

      }
    }

Git status ignore line endings / identical files / windows & linux environment / dropbox / mled

I created a script to ignore differences in line endings:

It will display the files which are not added to the commit list and were modified (after ignoring differences in line endings). You can add the argument "add" to add those files to your commit.

#!/usr/bin/perl

# Usage: ./gitdiff.pl [add]
# add : add modified files to git

use warnings;
use strict;

my ($auto_add) = @ARGV;
if(!defined $auto_add) {
    $auto_add = "";
}

my @mods = `git status --porcelain 2>/dev/null | grep '^ M ' | cut -c4-`;
chomp(@mods);
for my $mod (@mods) {
    my $diff = `git diff -b $mod 2>/dev/null`;
    if($diff) {
        print $mod."\n";
        if($auto_add eq "add") {
            `git add $mod 2>/dev/null`;
        }
    }
}

Using Spring MVC Test to unit test multipart POST request

Since MockMvcRequestBuilders#fileUpload is deprecated, you'll want to use MockMvcRequestBuilders#multipart(String, Object...) which returns a MockMultipartHttpServletRequestBuilder. Then chain a bunch of file(MockMultipartFile) calls.

Here's a working example. Given a @Controller

@Controller
public class NewController {

    @RequestMapping(value = "/upload", method = RequestMethod.POST)
    @ResponseBody
    public String saveAuto(
            @RequestPart(value = "json") JsonPojo pojo,
            @RequestParam(value = "some-random") String random,
            @RequestParam(value = "data", required = false) List<MultipartFile> files) {
        System.out.println(random);
        System.out.println(pojo.getJson());
        for (MultipartFile file : files) {
            System.out.println(file.getOriginalFilename());
        }
        return "success";
    }

    static class JsonPojo {
        private String json;

        public String getJson() {
            return json;
        }

        public void setJson(String json) {
            this.json = json;
        }

    }
}

and a unit test

@WebAppConfiguration
@ContextConfiguration(classes = WebConfig.class)
@RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class)
public class Example {

    @Autowired
    private WebApplicationContext webApplicationContext;

    @Test
    public void test() throws Exception {

        MockMultipartFile firstFile = new MockMultipartFile("data", "filename.txt", "text/plain", "some xml".getBytes());
        MockMultipartFile secondFile = new MockMultipartFile("data", "other-file-name.data", "text/plain", "some other type".getBytes());
        MockMultipartFile jsonFile = new MockMultipartFile("json", "", "application/json", "{\"json\": \"someValue\"}".getBytes());

        MockMvc mockMvc = MockMvcBuilders.webAppContextSetup(webApplicationContext).build();
        mockMvc.perform(MockMvcRequestBuilders.multipart("/upload")
                        .file(firstFile)
                        .file(secondFile)
                        .file(jsonFile)
                        .param("some-random", "4"))
                    .andExpect(status().is(200))
                    .andExpect(content().string("success"));
    }
}

And the @Configuration class

@Configuration
@ComponentScan({ "test.controllers" })
@EnableWebMvc
public class WebConfig extends WebMvcConfigurationSupport {
    @Bean
    public MultipartResolver multipartResolver() {
        CommonsMultipartResolver multipartResolver = new CommonsMultipartResolver();
        return multipartResolver;
    }
}

The test should pass and give you output of

4 // from param
someValue // from json file
filename.txt // from first file
other-file-name.data // from second file

The thing to note is that you are sending the JSON just like any other multipart file, except with a different content type.

Capture the Screen into a Bitmap

Bitmap memoryImage;
//Set full width, height for image
memoryImage = new Bitmap(Screen.PrimaryScreen.Bounds.Width,
                       Screen.PrimaryScreen.Bounds.Height,
                       PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb);
Size s = new Size(memoryImage.Width, memoryImage.Height);
Graphics memoryGraphics = Graphics.FromImage(memoryImage);
memoryGraphics.CopyFromScreen(0, 0, 0, 0, s);
string str = "";
try
{
    str = string.Format(Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.MyDocuments) +
          @"\Screenshot.png");//Set folder to save image
}
catch { };
memoryImage.save(str);

How to request Location Permission at runtime

After having it defined in your manifest file, a friendlier alternative to the native solution would be using Aaper: https://github.com/LikeTheSalad/aaper like so:

@EnsurePermissions(permissions = [Manifest.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION])
private fun scanForLocation() {
    // Your code that needs the location permission granted.
}

Disclaimer, I'm the creator of Aaper.

How to display image with JavaScript?

You could make use of the Javascript DOM API. In particular, look at the createElement() method.

You could create a re-usable function that will create an image like so...

function show_image(src, width, height, alt) {
    var img = document.createElement("img");
    img.src = src;
    img.width = width;
    img.height = height;
    img.alt = alt;

    // This next line will just add it to the <body> tag
    document.body.appendChild(img);
}

Then you could use it like this...

<button onclick=
    "show_image('http://google.com/images/logo.gif',
                 276,
                 110,
                 'Google Logo');">Add Google Logo</button>

See a working example on jsFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/Bc6Et/

Changing Node.js listening port

There is no config file unless you create one yourself. However, the port is a parameter of the listen() function. For example, to listen on port 8124:

var http = require('http');
http.createServer(function (req, res) {
  res.writeHead(200, {'Content-Type': 'text/plain'});
  res.end('Hello World\n');
}).listen(8124, "127.0.0.1");
console.log('Server running at http://127.0.0.1:8124/');

If you're having problems finding a port that's open, you can go to the command line and type:

netstat -ano

To see a list of all ports in use per adapter.

Hibernate Delete query

instead of using

session.delete(object)

use

getHibernateTemplate().delete(object)

In both place for select query and also for delete use getHibernateTemplate()

In select query you have to use DetachedCriteria or Criteria

Example for select query

List<foo> fooList = new ArrayList<foo>();
DetachedCriteria queryCriteria = DetachedCriteria.forClass(foo.class);
queryCriteria.add(Restrictions.eq("Column_name",restriction));
fooList = getHibernateTemplate().findByCriteria(queryCriteria);

In hibernate avoid use of session,here I am not sure but problem occurs just because of session use

Error message "No exports were found that match the constraint contract name"

My 2 cents: Following all above lifesaving tips, I had a slightly different experience; mine is VS 2017 Community Edition, installed once, and I notice that have all these 3 folders:

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\15.0 ==> Empty
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7f0c75b0 ==> has only the CoreCon folder

This is the one that has the ComponentModelCache:

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\15.0_7f0c75b0

Deleting only the Microsoft.VisualStudio.Default.cache had no effect.

So, I deleted all 4 files there: .cache, .err, .external and catalogs. On restarting VS, problem gone and appeared a 5th file:

Microsoft.VisualStudio.Default.scan

Get current cursor position

You get the cursor position by calling GetCursorPos.

POINT p;
if (GetCursorPos(&p))
{
    //cursor position now in p.x and p.y
}

This returns the cursor position relative to screen coordinates. Call ScreenToClient to map to window coordinates.

if (ScreenToClient(hwnd, &p))
{
    //p.x and p.y are now relative to hwnd's client area
}

You hide and show the cursor with ShowCursor.

ShowCursor(FALSE);//hides the cursor
ShowCursor(TRUE);//shows it again

You must ensure that every call to hide the cursor is matched by one that shows it again.

asp.net: Invalid postback or callback argument

in you aspx file you should put the first line as this :

<%@ Page EnableEventValidation="false" %>

if you already have something like <%@ Page so just add the rest => EnableEventValidation="false" %>

I recommend not to do it.

How to pass data from child component to its parent in ReactJS?

Considering React Function Components and using Hooks are getting more popular these days , I will give a simple example of how to Passing data from child to parent component

in Parent Function Component we will have :

import React, { useState, useEffect } from "react";

then

const [childData, setChildData] = useState("");

and passing setChildData (which do a job similar to this.setState in Class Components) to Child

return( <ChildComponent passChildData={setChildData} /> )

in Child Component first we get the receiving props

function ChildComponent(props){ return (...) }

then you can pass data anyhow like using a handler function

const functionHandler = (data) => {

props.passChildData(data);

}

How to insert a line break <br> in markdown

    2. Mango
     this is juicy
    3. Orange
`

Retrieve column values of the selected row of a multicolumn Access listbox

Use listboxControl.Column(intColumn,intRow). Both Column and Row are zero-based.

Dynamic loading of images in WPF

In code to load resource in the executing assembly where my image 'Freq.png' was in the folder "Icons" and defined as "Resource".

        this.Icon = new BitmapImage(new Uri(@"pack://application:,,,/"
             + Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().Name
             + ";component/"
             + "Icons/Freq.png", UriKind.Absolute));

I also made a function if anybody would like it...

/// <summary>
/// Load a resource WPF-BitmapImage (png, bmp, ...) from embedded resource defined as 'Resource' not as 'Embedded resource'.
/// </summary>
/// <param name="pathInApplication">Path without starting slash</param>
/// <param name="assembly">Usually 'Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly()'. If not mentionned, I will use the calling assembly</param>
/// <returns></returns>
public static BitmapImage LoadBitmapFromResource(string pathInApplication, Assembly assembly = null)
{
    if (assembly == null)
    {
        assembly = Assembly.GetCallingAssembly();
    }

    if (pathInApplication[0] == '/')
    {
        pathInApplication = pathInApplication.Substring(1);
    }
    return new BitmapImage(new Uri(@"pack://application:,,,/" + assembly.GetName().Name + ";component/" + pathInApplication, UriKind.Absolute));
}

Usage:

        this.Icon = ResourceHelper.LoadBitmapFromResource("Icons/Freq.png");

When I run `npm install`, it returns with `ERR! code EINTEGRITY` (npm 5.3.0)

My problem was 2 things:

  1. Bad package-lock.json file
  2. The existance of npm-shrinkwrap.json together with the package-lock.json file

What i did is:

  1. Deleted the package-lock.json file
  2. Delete the npm-shrinkwrap.json file
  3. Ran npm install again (which recreated a good package-lock file)

Fixed my error!

How can I remove all files in my git repo and update/push from my local git repo?

This process is simple, and follows the same flow as any git commit.

  1. Make sure your repo is fully up to date. (ex: git pull)
  2. Navigate to your repo folder on your local disk.
  3. Delete the files you don't want anymore.
  4. Then git commit -m "nuke and start again"
  5. Then git push
  6. Profit.

What's the difference between "&nbsp;" and " "?

&nbsp; should be handled as a whitespace.

&nbsp;&nbsp; should be handled as two whitespaces

' ' can be handled as a non interesting whitespace

' ' + ' ' can be handled as a single ' '
