How do you use the "WITH" clause in MySQL?

The post lays out ways of emulating the 2 uses of SQL WITH. Really good explanation on how these work to do a similar query as SQL WITH.

1) Use WITH so you don't have to perform the same sub query multiple times

The values of form elements including type='hidden' are submitted to the server when the form is posted. input type="hidden" values are not visible in the page. Maintaining User IDs in hidden fields, for example, is one of the many uses.

SO uses a hidden field for the upvote click.

ALTER COLUMN in sqlite

SQLite supports a limited subset of ALTER TABLE. The ALTER TABLE command in SQLite allows the user to rename a table or to add a new column to an existing table. It is not possible to rename a column, remove a column, or add or remove constraints from a table. But you can alter table column datatype or other property by the following steps.

Difference between Statement and PreparedStatement

Advantages of a PreparedStatement:

  • Precompilation and DB-side caching of the SQL statement leads to overall faster execution and the ability to reuse the same SQL statement in batches.

  • Automatic prevention of SQL injection attacks by builtin escaping of quotes and other special characters. Note that this requires that you use any of the PreparedStatement setXxx() methods to set the values

If there is an interface anywhere in the ThreadProvider hierarchy try putting the name of the Interface as the type of your service provider, eg. if you have say this structure:

The reason why this is happening is, in your first case when you DID NOT have ChiusuraProvider extend ThreadProvider Spring probably was underlying creating a CGLIB based proxy for you(to handle the @Transaction).

When you DID extend from ThreadProvider assuming that ThreadProvider extends some interface, Spring in that case creates a Java Dynamic Proxy based Proxy, which would appear to be an implementation of that interface instead of being of ChisuraProvider type.

If you absolutely need to use ChisuraProvider you can try AspectJ as an alternative or force CGLIB based proxy in the case with ThreadProvider also this way:

You're saying you want a "serverless" solution. But that means you have no ability to put any of "your" code in the loop. (NOTE: Once you give your code to a client, it's "their" code now.) Locking down CORS is not going to help: People can easily write a non-web-based tool (or a web-based proxy) that adds the correct CORS header to abuse your system.

The big problem is that you can't differentiate between the different users. You can't allow one user to list/access his files, but prevent others from doing so. If you detect abuse, there is nothing you can do about it except change the key. (Which the attacker can presumably just get again.)

Your best bet is to create an "IAM user" with a key for your javascript client. Only give it write access to just one bucket. (but ideally, do not enable the ListBucket operation, that will make it more attractive to attackers.)

If you had a server (even a simple micro instance at $20/month), you could sign the keys on your server while monitoring/preventing abuse in realtime. Without a server, the best you can do is periodically monitor for abuse after-the-fact. Here's what I would do:

1) periodically rotate the keys for that IAM user: Every night, generate a new key for that IAM user, and replace the oldest key. Since there are 2 keys, each key will be valid for 2 days.

2) enable S3 logging, and download the logs every hour. Set alerts on "too many uploads" and "too many downloads". You will want to check both total file size and number of files uploaded. And you will want to monitor both the global totals, and also the per-IP address totals (with a lower threshold).

These checks can be done "serverless" because you can run them on your desktop. (i.e. S3 does all the work, these processes just there to alert you to abuse of your S3 bucket so you don't get a giant AWS bill at the end of the month.)

How to pass arguments within docker-compose?

This can now be done as of docker-compose v2+ as part of the build object;

Step1

In your Dockerfile, you can use the verb EXPOSE to expose multiple ports.

Also worth noting that WinFlexBison has been packaged for the Chocolatey package manager. Install that and then go:

GetType used in PowerShell, difference between variables

Select-Object returns a custom PSObject with just the properties specified. Even with a single property, you don't get the ACTUAL variable; it is wrapped inside the PSObject.

Instead, do:

Get-Date | Select-Object -ExpandProperty DayOfWeek

That will get you the same result as:

(Get-Date).DayOfWeek

The difference is that if Get-Date returns multiple objects, the pipeline way works better than the parenthetical way as (Get-ChildItem), for example, is an array of items. This has changed in PowerShell v3 and (Get-ChildItem).FullPath works as expected and returns an array of just the full paths.

Notes

  • As commented by @Paul, these do change the content type of price from xs:string to xs:decimal, but this is not strictly necessary and was not the real problem.
  • As answered by @user998692, you could separate out the definition of currency, and you could change to xs:decimal, but this too was not the real problem.

The real problem was that xs:complexType cannot directly have a xs:extension as a child in XSD; xs:simpleContent is needed first.

A related matter (that wasn't asked but may have confused other answers):

How could price be restricted given that it has an attribute?

In this case, a separate, global definition of priceType would be needed; it is not possible to do this with only local type definitions.

The problem is that you are trying to insert data into the database without using columns. Sql server gives you that error message.

How can I troubleshoot Python "Could not find platform independent libraries <prefix>"

Try export PYTHONHOME=/usr/local. Python should be installed in /usr/local on OS X.

This answer has received a little more attention than I anticipated, I'll add a little bit more context.

Normally, Python looks for its libraries in the paths prefix/lib and exec_prefix/lib, where prefix and exec_prefix are configuration options. If the PYTHONHOME environment variable is set, then the value of prefix and exec_prefix are inherited from it. If the PYTHONHOME environment variable is not set, then prefix and exec_prefix default to /usr/local (and I believe there are other ways to set prefix/exec_prefix as well, but I'm not totally familiar with them).

Normally, when you receive the error message Could not find platform independent libraries <prefix>, the string <prefix> would be replaced with the actual value of prefix. However, if prefix has an empty value, then you get the rather cryptic messages posted in the question. One way to get an empty prefix would be to set PYTHONHOME to an empty string. More info about PYTHONHOME, prefix, and exec_prefix is available in the official docs.

Multiple conditions in a C 'for' loop

Do not use this code; whoever wrote it clearly has a fundamental misunderstanding of the language and is not trustworthy. The expression:

j >= 0, i <= 5

evaluates "j >= 0", then throws it away and does nothing with it. Then it evaluates "i <= 5" and uses that, and only that, as the condition for ending the loop. The comma operator can be used meaningfully in a loop condition when the left operand has side effects; you'll often see things like:

for (i = 0, j = 0; i < 10; ++i, ++j) . . .

in which the comma is used to sneak in extra initialization and increment statements. But the code shown is not doing that, or anything else meaningful.

Twitter Bootstrap vs jQuery UI?

I have on several projects.

The biggest difference in my opinion

  • jQuery UI is fallback safe, it works correctly and looks good in old browsers, where Bootstrap is based on CSS3 which basically means GREAT in new browsers, not so great in old

  • Update frequency: Bootstrap is getting some great big updates with awesome new features, but sadly they might break previous code, so you can't just install bootstrap and update when there is a new major release, it basically requires a lot of new coding

  • jQuery UI is based on good html structure with transformations from JavaScript, while Bootstrap is based on visually and customizable inline structure. (calling a widget in JQUERY UI, defining it in Bootstrap)

So what to choose?

That always depends on the type of project you are working on. Is cool and fast looking widgets better, or are your users often using old browsers?

I always end up using both, so I can use the best of both worlds.

What is the lifetime of a static variable in a C++ function?

Motti is right about the order, but there are some other things to consider:

Compilers typically use a hidden flag variable to indicate if the local statics have already been initialized, and this flag is checked on every entry to the function. Obviously this is a small performance hit, but what's more of a concern is that this flag is not guaranteed to be thread-safe.

If you have a local static as above, and foo is called from multiple threads, you may have race conditions causing plonk to be initialized incorrectly or even multiple times. Also, in this case plonk may get destructed by a different thread than the one which constructed it.

Despite what the standard says, I'd be very wary of the actual order of local static destruction, because it's possible that you may unwittingly rely on a static being still valid after it's been destructed, and this is really difficult to track down.

Run a Docker image as a container

CA's don't ask for your private keys! They only asks for CSR to issue a certificate for you.

If they have your private key, it's possible that your SSL certificate will be compromised and end up being revoked.

That's why private key is called "Private" - because nobody can have that file except you.

About System.gc()… I just read in Oracle's documentation the following sentence here

The performance effect of explicit garbage collections can be measured by disabling them using the flag -XX:+DisableExplicitGC, which causes the VM to ignore calls to System.gc().

If your VM vendor and version supports that flag you can run your code with and without it and compare Performance.

Also note the previous quoted sentence is preceded by this one:

This can force a major collection to be done when it may not be necessary (for example, when a minor collection would suffice), and so in general should be avoided.

To "fix" an old commit with a small change, without changing the commit message of the old commit, where OLDCOMMIT is something like 091b73a:

Detailed explanation

  • git commit --fixup=OLDCOMMIT copies the OLDCOMMIT commit message and automatically prefixes fixup! so it can be put in the correct order during interactive rebase. (--squash=OLDCOMMIT does the same but prefixes squash!.)
  • git rebase --interactive will bring up a text editor (which can be configured) to confirm (or edit) the rebase instruction sequence. There is info for rebase instruction changes in the file; just save and quit the editor (:wq in vim) to continue with the rebase.
  • --autosquash will automatically put any --fixup=OLDCOMMIT commits in the correct order. Note that --autosquash is only valid when the --interactive option is used.
  • The ^ in OLDCOMMIT^ means it's a reference to the commit just before OLDCOMMIT. (OLDCOMMIT^ is the first parent of OLDCOMMIT.)

Optional automation

The above steps are good for verification and/or modifying the rebase instruction sequence, but it's also possible to skip/automate the interactive rebase text editor by:

The join is performed on the column with the same name in both tables, SNO. Note that the resultset has six columns and only contains one column for SNO.

In C, there's not much difference when used in the startup function of the program (which can be main(), wmain(), _tmain() or the default name used by your compiler).

If you return in main(), control goes back to the _start() function in the C library which originally started your program, which then calls exit() anyways. So it really doesn't matter which one you use.

'git status' shows changed files, but 'git diff' doesn't

I've just run in a similar issue. git diff file showed nothing because I added file to the Git index with some part of its name in uppercase: GeoJSONContainer.js.

Afterwards, I've renamed it to GeoJsonContainer.js and changes stopped being tracked. git diff GeoJsonContainer.js was showing nothing. I had to remove the file from the index with a force flag, and add the file again:

I've been having an issue with a CSS3 gradient with -45deg. The background slanted, was badly jagged similar to but worse than the original post. So I started playing with both the background-size. This would stretch out the jaggedness, but it was still there. Then in addition I read that other people are having issues too at 45deg increments so I adjusted from -45deg to -45.0001deg and my problem was solved.

In my CSS below, background-size was initially 30px and the deg for the background gradient was exactly -45deg, and all keyframes were 30px 0.

I had the same issue: console messages were not appearing in XCode's debug area. In my app I did cmd-d to bring up the debug menu, and remembered I had set "Debug in Safari" on.

I turned this off, and some messages were printed to the output message, but not my console messages. However, one of the log messages said:

__DEV__ === false, development-level warning are OFF, performance optimizations are ON"

This was because I had previously bundled my project for testing on a real device with the command:

react-native bundle --minify

This bundled without "dev-mode" on. To allow dev messages,include the --dev flag:

react-native bundle --dev

And console.log messages are back! If you aren't bundling for a real device, don't forget to re-point jsCodeLocation in AppDelegate.m to localhost (I did!).

<h:button>

The <h:button> generates a HTML <input type="button">. The generated element uses JavaScript to navigate to the page given by the attribute outcome, using a HTTP GET request.

E.g.

will generate

Even though this ends up in a (bookmarkable) URL change in the browser address bar, this is not SEO-friendly. Searchbots won't follow the URL in the onclick. You'd better use a <h:outputLink> or <h:link> if SEO is important on the given URL. You could if necessary throw in some CSS on the generated HTML <a> element to make it to look like a button.

No one mention why those solutions are working. They are, because in most of the browser's implementations values in objects are stored in the order in which they were added. That's why if you create new object from sorted list of keys it's returning an expected result.

How to resolve this System.IO.FileNotFoundException

I've been mislead by this error more than once. After spending hours googling, updating nuget packages, version checking, then after sitting with a completely updated solution I re-realize a perfectly valid, simpler reason for the error.

If in a threaded enthronement (UI Dispatcher.Invoke for example), System.IO.FileNotFoundException is thrown if the thread manager dll (file) fails to return. So if your main UI thread A, calls the system thread manager dll B, and B calls your thread code C, but C throws for some unrelated reason (such as null Reference as in my case), then C does not return, B does not return, and A only blames B with FileNotFoundException for being lost...

Before going down the dll version path... Check closer to home and verify your thread code is not throwing.

Since it looks like that you only need this structure for the update() function, don't use a structure for this at all, it will only obfuscate your intention behind that construct. You should maybe rethink why you are changing and updating those fields and define separate functions or macros for this "little" changes.

That means you may have something like the following:

If you want just open the IE browser and type

You could use the pickle module in the standard library. Here's an elementary application of it to your example:

cPickle (or _pickle) vs pickle

It's almost always preferable to actually use the cPickle module rather than pickle because the former is written in C and is much faster. There are some subtle differences between them, but in most situations they're equivalent and the C version will provide greatly superior performance. Switching to it couldn't be easier, just change the import statement to this:

import cPickle as pickle

In Python 3, cPickle was renamed _pickle, but doing this is no longer necessary since the pickle module now does it automatically—see What difference between pickle and _pickle in python 3?.

The rundown is you could use something like the following to ensure that your code will always use the C version when it's available in both Python 2 and 3:

Data stream formats (protocols)

pickle can read and write files in several different, Python-specific, formats, called protocols as described in the documentation, "Protocol version 0" is ASCII and therefore "human-readable". Versions > 0 are binary and the highest one available depends on what version of Python is being used. The default also depends on Python version. In Python 2 the default was Protocol version 0, but in Python 3.8.1, it's Protocol version 4. In Python 3.x the module had a pickle.DEFAULT_PROTOCOL added to it, but that doesn't exist in Python 2.

Fortunately there's shorthand for writing pickle.HIGHEST_PROTOCOL in every call (assuming that's what you want, and you usually do), just use the literal number -1 — similar to referencing the last element of a sequence via a negative index. So, instead of writing:

pickle.dump(obj, output, pickle.HIGHEST_PROTOCOL)

You can just write:

pickle.dump(obj, output, -1)

Either way, you'd only have specify the protocol once if you created a Pickler object for use in multiple pickle operations:

pickler = pickle.Pickler(output, -1)
pickler.dump(obj1)
pickler.dump(obj2)
   etc...

Note: If you're in an environment running different versions of Python, then you'll probably want to explicitly use (i.e. hardcode) a specific protocol number that all of them can read (later versions can generally read files produced by earlier ones).

Multiple Objects

While a pickle file can contain any number of pickled objects, as shown in the above samples, when there's an unknown number of them, it's often easier to store them all in some sort of variably-sized container, like a list, tuple, or dict and write them all to the file in a single call:

Without proper language support for thread syncronization, it doesn't even make sense for new implementations to try. Existing complex JS apps (e.g. anything using ExtJS) would most likely crash unexpectedly, but without a synchronized keyword or something similar, it would also be very hard or even impossible to write new programs that behave correctly.

Encoding conversion in java

UTF-8 and UCS-2/UTF-16 can be distinguished reasonably easily via a byte order mark at the start of the file. If this exists then it's a pretty good bet that the file is in that encoding - but it's not a dead certainty. You may well also find that the file is in one of those encodings, but doesn't have a byte order mark.

I don't know much about ISO-8859-2, but I wouldn't be surprised if almost every file is a valid text file in that encoding. The best you'll be able to do is check it heuristically. Indeed, the Wikipedia page talking about it would suggest that only byte 0x7f is invalid.

There's no idea of reading a file "as it is" and yet getting text out - a file is a sequence of bytes, so you have to apply a character encoding in order to decode those bytes into characters.

Before trying anything else in this post, I would do Build >> Clean Project. It solved my problem and it is the simplest solution. Sometimes, the cleaning doesnt get some links, so I also recommend you to restart your devices, either virtual or physical.

Only after trying this two simple solutions, I would try the others.

Just putting this here in case it helps someone, my case was different and a bit of an odd mix. I was getting this on a request that was accessed via superagent - the problem had nothing to do with certificates (which were setup properly) and all to do with the fact that I was then passing the superagent result through the async module's waterfall callback. To fix: Instead of passing the entire result, just pass result.body through the waterfall's callback.

The simple answer:

  • doing a MOV RBX, 3 and MUL RBX is expensive; just ADD RBX, RBX twice

  • ADD 1 is probably faster than INC here

  • MOV 2 and DIV is very expensive; just shift right

  • 64-bit code is usually noticeably slower than 32-bit code and the alignment issues are more complicated; with small programs like this you have to pack them so you are doing parallel computation to have any chance of being faster than 32-bit code

If you generate the assembly listing for your C++ program, you can see how it differs from your assembly.

Why should I use var instead of a type?

When you say "by warnings" what exactly do you mean? I've usually seen it giving a hint that you may want to use var, but nothing as harsh as a warning.

There's no performance difference with var - the code is compiled to the same IL. The potential benefit is in readability - if you've already made the type of the variable crystal clear on the RHS of the assignment (e.g. via a cast or a constructor call), where's the benefit of also having it on the LHS? It's a personal preference though.

If you don't want R# suggesting the use of var, just change the options. One thing about ReSharper: it's very configurable :)

You may find this helpful — it's an article entitled "XPath in Five Paragraphs" by Ronald Bourret.

But in all honesty, //book[title[@lang='it']] and the above should be equivalent, unless your XPath engine has "issues." So it could be something in the code or sample XML that you're not showing us -- for example, your sample is an XML fragment. Could it be that the root element has a namespace, and you aren't counting for that in your query? And you only told us that it didn't work, but you didn't tell us what results you did get.

How to show only next line after the matched one?

I don't know of any way to do this with grep, but it is possible to use awk to achieve the same result:

Note, however, that this will not work for an arbitrary list: If the first value in the list (the last one popped) does not evaluate to False, you will get another iteration and an exception on the next pass: IndexError: pop from empty list. Also, your list (loop) will be empty after the loop.
