Regular expression for a string that does not start with a sequence

You could use a negative look-ahead assertion:

^(?!tbd_).+

Or a negative look-behind assertion:

(^.{1,3}$|^.{4}(?<!tbd_).*)

Or just plain old character sets and alternations:

^([^t]|t($|[^b]|b($|[^d]|d($|[^_])))).*

Base64 decode snippet in C++

There are several snippets here. However, this one is compact, efficient, and C++11 friendly:

static std::string base64_encode(const std::string &in) {

    std::string out;

    int val = 0, valb = -6;
    for (uchar c : in) {
        val = (val << 8) + c;
        valb += 8;
        while (valb >= 0) {
            out.push_back("ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789+/"[(val>>valb)&0x3F]);
            valb -= 6;
        }
    }
    if (valb>-6) out.push_back("ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789+/"[((val<<8)>>(valb+8))&0x3F]);
    while (out.size()%4) out.push_back('=');
    return out;
}

static std::string base64_decode(const std::string &in) {

    std::string out;

    std::vector<int> T(256,-1);
    for (int i=0; i<64; i++) T["ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789+/"[i]] = i;

    int val=0, valb=-8;
    for (uchar c : in) {
        if (T[c] == -1) break;
        val = (val << 6) + T[c];
        valb += 6;
        if (valb >= 0) {
            out.push_back(char((val>>valb)&0xFF));
            valb -= 8;
        }
    }
    return out;
}

Save matplotlib file to a directory

The simplest way to do this is as follows:

save_results_to = '/Users/S/Desktop/Results/'
plt.savefig(save_results_to + 'image.png', dpi = 300)

The image is going to be saved in the save_results_to directory with name image.png

Best way to check if object exists in Entity Framework?

I had to manage a scenario where the percentage of duplicates being provided in the new data records was very high, and so many thousands of database calls were being made to check for duplicates (so the CPU sent a lot of time at 100%). In the end I decided to keep the last 100,000 records cached in memory. This way I could check for duplicates against the cached records which was extremely fast when compared to a LINQ query against the SQL database, and then write any genuinely new records to the database (as well as add them to the data cache, which I also sorted and trimmed to keep its length manageable).

Note that the raw data was a CSV file that contained many individual records that had to be parsed. The records in each consecutive file (which came at a rate of about 1 every 5 minutes) overlapped considerably, hence the high percentage of duplicates.

In short, if you have timestamped raw data coming in, pretty much in order, then using a memory cache might help with the record duplication check.

Appropriate datatype for holding percent values?

Assuming two decimal places on your percentages, the data type you use depends on how you plan to store your percentages. If you are going to store their fractional equivalent (e.g. 100.00% stored as 1.0000), I would store the data in a decimal(5,4) data type with a CHECK constraint that ensures that the values never exceed 1.0000 (assuming that is the cap) and never go below 0 (assuming that is the floor). If you are going to store their face value (e.g. 100.00% is stored as 100.00), then you should use decimal(5,2) with an appropriate CHECK constraint. Combined with a good column name, it makes it clear to other developers what the data is and how the data is stored in the column.

Update label from another thread

You cannot update UI from any other thread other than the UI thread. Use this to update thread on the UI thread.

 private void AggiornaContatore()

     {
         this.lblCounter.BeginInvoke((MethodInvoker) delegate() {this.lblCounter.Text = this.index.ToString(); ;});
     }
     else

Select box arrow style

for any1 using ie8 and dont want to use a plugin i've made something inspired by Rohit Azad and Bacotasan's blog, i just added a span using JS to show the selected value.

the html:

<div class="styled-select">
   <select>
      <option>Here is the first option</option>
      <option>The second option</option>
   </select>
   <span>Here is the first option</span>
</div>

the css (i used only an arrow for BG but you could put a full image and drop the positioning):

.styled-select div
{
    display:inline-block;
    border: 1px solid darkgray;
    width:100px;
    background:url("/Style Library/Nifgashim/Images/drop_arrrow.png") no-repeat 10px 10px;
    position:relative;
}

.styled-select div select
{
    height: 30px;
    width: 100px;
    font-size:14px;
    font-family:ariel;

    -moz-opacity: 0.00;
    opacity: .00;
    filter: alpha(opacity=00);
}

.styled-select div span
{
    position: absolute;
    right: 10px;
    top: 6px;
    z-index: -5;
}

the js:

$(".styled-select select").change(function(e){
     $(".styled-select span").html($(".styled-select select").val());
});

Android and Facebook share intent

In Lollipop (21), you can use Intent.EXTRA_REPLACEMENT_EXTRAS to override the intent for Facebook specifically (and specify a link only)

https://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/Intent.html#EXTRA_REPLACEMENT_EXTRAS

private void doShareLink(String text, String link) {
  Intent shareIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_SEND);
  shareIntent.setType("text/plain");
  Intent chooserIntent = Intent.createChooser(shareIntent, getString(R.string.share_via));

  // for 21+, we can use EXTRA_REPLACEMENT_EXTRAS to support the specific case of Facebook
  // (only supports a link)
  // >=21: facebook=link, other=text+link
  // <=20: all=link
  if (Build.VERSION.SDK_INT >= Build.VERSION_CODES.LOLLIPOP) {
    shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, text + " " + link);
    Bundle facebookBundle = new Bundle();
    facebookBundle.putString(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, link);
    Bundle replacement = new Bundle();
    replacement.putBundle("com.facebook.katana", facebookBundle);
    chooserIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_REPLACEMENT_EXTRAS, replacement);
  } else {
    shareIntent.putExtra(Intent.EXTRA_TEXT, link);
  }

  chooserIntent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK);
  startActivity(chooserIntent);
}

How to calculate the angle between a line and the horizontal axis?

Considering the exact question, putting us in a "special" coordinates system where positive axis means moving DOWN (like a screen or an interface view), you need to adapt this function like this, and negative the Y coordinates:

Example in Swift 2.0

func angle_between_two_points(pa:CGPoint,pb:CGPoint)->Double{
    let deltaY:Double = (Double(-pb.y) - Double(-pa.y))
    let deltaX:Double = (Double(pb.x) - Double(pa.x))
    var a = atan2(deltaY,deltaX)
    while a < 0.0 {
        a = a + M_PI*2
    }
    return a
}

This function gives a correct answer to the question. Answer is in radians, so the usage, to view angles in degrees, is:

let p1 = CGPoint(x: 1.5, y: 2) //estimated coords of p1 in question
let p2 = CGPoint(x: 2, y : 3) //estimated coords of p2 in question

print(angle_between_two_points(p1, pb: p2) / (M_PI/180))
//returns 296.56

Await operator can only be used within an Async method

You can only use await in an async method, and Main cannot be async.

You'll have to use your own async-compatible context, call Wait on the returned Task in the Main method, or just ignore the returned Task and just block on the call to Read. Note that Wait will wrap any exceptions in an AggregateException.

If you want a good intro, see my async/await intro post.

How do I wait until Task is finished in C#?

I'm an async novice, so I can't tell you definitively what is happening here. I suspect that there's a mismatch in the method execution expectations, even though you are using tasks internally in the methods. I think you'd get the results you are expecting if you changed Print to return a Task<string>:

private static string Send(int id)
{
    Task<HttpResponseMessage> responseTask = client.GetAsync("aaaaa");
    Task<string> result;
    responseTask.ContinueWith(x => result = Print(x));
    result.Wait();
    responseTask.Wait(); // There's likely a better way to wait for both tasks without doing it in this awkward, consecutive way.
    return result.Result;
}

private static Task<string> Print(Task<HttpResponseMessage> httpTask)
{
    Task<string> task = httpTask.Result.Content.ReadAsStringAsync();
    string result = string.Empty;
    task.ContinueWith(t =>
    {
        Console.WriteLine("Result: " + t.Result);
        result = t.Result;
    });
    return task;
}

A better way to check if a path exists or not in PowerShell

if (Test-Path C:\DockerVol\SelfCertSSL) {
    write-host "Folder already exists."
} else {
   New-Item -Path "C:\DockerVol\" -Name "SelfCertSSL" -ItemType "directory"
}

Auto Resize Image in CSS FlexBox Layout and keeping Aspect Ratio?

I am using jquery or vw to keep the ratio

jquery

function setSize() {
    var $h = $('.cell').width();
    $('.your-img-class').height($h);
}
$(setSize);
$( window ).resize(setSize);

vw

 .cell{
    width:30vw;
    height:30vw;
}
.cell img{
    width:100%;
    height:100%;
}

Get environment value in controller

To simplify: Only configuration files can access environment variables - and then pass them on.

Step 1.) Add your variable to your .env file, for example,

EXAMPLE_URL="http://google.com"

Step 2.) Create a new file inside of the config folder, with any name, for example,

config/example.php

Step 3.) Inside of this new file, I add an array being returned, containing that environment variable.

<?php
return [
  'url' => env('EXAMPLE_URL')
];

Step 4.) Because I named it "example", my configuration 'namespace' is now example. So now, in my controller I can access this variable with:

$url = \config('example.url');

Tip - if you add use Config; at the top of your controller, you don't need the backslash (which designates the root namespace). For example,

namespace App\Http\Controllers;
use Config; // Added this line

class ExampleController extends Controller
{
    public function url() {
        return config('example.url');
    }
}

Finally, commit the changes:

php artisan config:cache

--- IMPORTANT --- Remember to enter php artisan config:cache into the console once you have created your example.php file. Configuration files and variables are cached, so if you make changes you need to flush that cache - the same applies to the .env file being changed / added to.

How to write a function that takes a positive integer N and returns a list of the first N natural numbers

Do I even need a for loop to create a list?

No, you can (and in general circumstances should) use the built-in function range():

>>> range(1,5)
[1, 2, 3, 4]

i.e.

def naturalNumbers(n):
    return range(1, n + 1)

Python 3's range() is slightly different in that it returns a range object and not a list, so if you're using 3.x wrap it all in list(): list(range(1, n + 1)).

Wait for async task to finish

How about calling a function from within your callback instead of returning a value in sync_call()?

function sync_call(input) {
    var value;

    // Assume the async call always succeed
    async_call(input, function(result) {
        value = result;
        use_value(value);
    } );
}

What are the retransmission rules for TCP?

There's no fixed time for retransmission. Simple implementations estimate the RTT (round-trip-time) and if no ACK to send data has been received in 2x that time then they re-send.

They then double the wait-time and re-send once more if again there is no reply. Rinse. Repeat.

More sophisticated systems make better estimates of how long it should take for the ACK as well as guesses about exactly which data has been lost.

The bottom-line is that there is no hard-and-fast rule about exactly when to retransmit. It's up to the implementation. All retransmissions are triggered solely by the sender based on lack of response from the receiver.

TCP never drops data so no, there is no way to indicate a server should forget about some segment.

Access: Move to next record until EOF

If you want cmd buttons that loop through the form's records, try adding this code to your cmdNext_Click and cmdPrevious_Click VBA. I have found it works well and copes with BOF / EOF issues:

VS 2012: Scroll Solution Explorer to current file

There are many ways to do this:

Go to current File once:

  • Visual Studio 2013

    VS 13 has it's own shortcut to do this: Ctrl+\, S (Press Ctrl + \, Release both keys, Press the S key)

    You can edit this default shortcut, if you are searching for SolutionExplorer.SyncWithActiveDocument in your Keyboard Settings (Tools->Options->Enviornment->Keyboard)

    In addition there is also a new icon in the Solution Explorer, more about this here.

    Sync with Active Document Button in VS2013 - Solution Explorer

  • Visual Studio 2012

    If you use VS 2012, there is a great plugin to add this new functionality from VS2013 to VS2012: . The default shortcut is strg + alt + ü. I think this one is the best, as navigating to the solution explorer is mapped to strg + ü.

  • Resharper

    If you use Resharper try Shift+Alt+L

    This is a nice mapping as you can use Strg+Alt+L for navigating to the solution explorer

Track current file all the time:

  • Visual Studio >= 2012:

    If you like to track your current file in the solution explorer all the time, you can use the solution from the accepted answer (Tools->Options->Projects and Solutions->Track Active Item in Solution Explorer), but I think this can get very annoying in large projects.

Using Helvetica Neue in a Website

They are taking a 'shotgun' approach to referencing the font. The browser will attempt to match each font name with any installed fonts on the user's machine (in the order they have been listed).

In your example "HelveticaNeue-Light" will be tried first, if this font variant is unavailable the browser will try "Helvetica Neue Light" and finally "Helvetica Neue".

As far as I'm aware "Helvetica Neue" isn't considered a 'web safe font', which means you won't be able to rely on it being installed for your entire user base. It is quite common to define "serif" or "sans-serif" as a final default position.

In order to use fonts which aren't 'web safe' you'll need to use a technique known as font embedding. Embedded fonts do not need to be installed on a user's computer, instead they are downloaded as part of the page. Be aware this increases the overall payload (just like an image does) and can have an impact on page load times.

A great resource for free fonts with open-source licenses is Google Fonts. (You should still check individual licenses before using them.) Each font has a download link with instructions on how to embed them in your website.

Sum a list of numbers in Python

Can I add extension methods to an existing static class?

You CAN do this if you are willing to "frig" it a little by making a variable of the static class and assigning it to null. However, this method would not be available to static calls on the class, so not sure how much use it would be:

Console myConsole = null;
myConsole.WriteBlueLine("my blue line");

public static class Helpers {
    public static void WriteBlueLine(this Console c, string text)
    {
        Console.ForegroundColor = ConsoleColor.Blue;
        Console.WriteLine(text);
        Console.ResetColor();
    }
}

Clean out Eclipse workspace metadata

One of the things that you might want to try out is starting eclipse with the -clean option. If you have chosen to have eclipse use the same workspace every time then there is nothing else you need to do after that. With that option in place the workspace should be cleaned out.

However, if you don't have a default workspace chosen, when opening up eclipse you will be prompted to choose the workspace. At this point, choose the workspace you want cleaned up.

See "How to run eclipse in clean mode" and "Keeping Eclipse running clean" for more details.

Using :before CSS pseudo element to add image to modal

You should use the background attribute to give an image to that element, and I would use ::after instead of before, this way it should be already drawn on top of your element.

.Modal:before{
  content: '';
  background:url('blackCarrot.png');
  width: /* width of the image */;
  height: /* height of the image */;
  display: block;
}

How to center a <p> element inside a <div> container?

You dont need absolute positioning Use

p {
 text-align: center;
line-height: 100px;

}

And adjust at will...

If text exceeds width and goes more than one line

In that case the adjust you can do is to include the display property in your rules as follows;

  width:300px;
  height:100px;
  display: table;

Bootstrap number validation

You should use jquery validation because if you use type="number" then you can also enter "E" character in input type, which is not correct.

Solution:

JQuery

//integer value validation
$('input.floatNumber').on('input', function() {
    this.value = this.value.replace(/[^0-9.]/g,'').replace(/(\..*)\./g, '$1');

How to obtain the chat_id of a private Telegram channel?

update #2 :

Found another one easiest way : Just send to @username_to_id_bot bot your invite link to your private channel, it will return it's ID. Simplest level : maximum! :)

ps. I am not a an owner of this bot.

ps2. To be sure in security, just revoke your old invitation link if it is matter for you after bot using.

Original post :

Make channel public cannot be done by user with exist at least 5 public groups/channels, so...problem not solved. Yes, you can revoke one of them, but for now, we cannot retrieve chat id other way.

revoke

Did anybody found solution for that case?

update

I found crazy solution :

  1. login under your account at web version of Telegram : https://web.telegram.org
  2. Find your channel. See to your url, it should be like https://web.telegram.org/#/im?p=c**1055587116**_11052224402541910257
  3. Grab "1055587116" from it, and add "-100" as a prefix.

So... your channel id will be "-1001055587116". Magic happen :)

How do I create a sequence in MySQL?

This is a solution suggested by the MySQl manual:

If expr is given as an argument to LAST_INSERT_ID(), the value of the argument is returned by the function and is remembered as the next value to be returned by LAST_INSERT_ID(). This can be used to simulate sequences:

Create a table to hold the sequence counter and initialize it:

    mysql> CREATE TABLE sequence (id INT NOT NULL);
    mysql> INSERT INTO sequence VALUES (0);

Use the table to generate sequence numbers like this:

    mysql> UPDATE sequence SET id=LAST_INSERT_ID(id+1);
    mysql> SELECT LAST_INSERT_ID();

The UPDATE statement increments the sequence counter and causes the next call to LAST_INSERT_ID() to return the updated value. The SELECT statement retrieves that value. The mysql_insert_id() C API function can also be used to get the value. See Section 23.8.7.37, “mysql_insert_id()”.

You can generate sequences without calling LAST_INSERT_ID(), but the utility of using the function this way is that the ID value is maintained in the server as the last automatically generated value. It is multi-user safe because multiple clients can issue the UPDATE statement and get their own sequence value with the SELECT statement (or mysql_insert_id()), without affecting or being affected by other clients that generate their own sequence values.

What does void mean in C, C++, and C#?

It means "no value". You use void to indicate that a function doesn't return a value or that it has no parameters or both. Pretty much consistent with typical uses of word void in English.

How can I get the domain name of my site within a Django template?

Quick and simple, but not good for production:

(in a view)

    request.scheme               # http or https
    request.META['HTTP_HOST']    # example.com
    request.path                 # /some/content/1/

(in a template)

{{ request.scheme }} :// {{ request.META.HTTP_HOST }} {{ request.path }}

Be sure to use a RequestContext, which is the case if you're using render.

Don't trust request.META['HTTP_HOST'] in production: that info comes from the browser. Instead, use @CarlMeyer's answer

How to declare std::unique_ptr and what is the use of it?

From cppreference, one of the std::unique_ptr constructors is

explicit unique_ptr( pointer p ) noexcept;

So to create a new std::unique_ptr is to pass a pointer to its constructor.

unique_ptr<int> uptr (new int(3));

Or it is the same as

int *int_ptr = new int(3);
std::unique_ptr<int> uptr (int_ptr);

The different is you don't have to clean up after using it. If you don't use std::unique_ptr (smart pointer), you will have to delete it like this

delete int_ptr;

when you no longer need it or it will cause a memory leak.

Yarn install command error No such file or directory: 'install'

With kudos to all the answers that correctly suggest removing the Ubuntu yarn package and installing Yarn through NPM, here is a detailed answer with explanation (and, be warned, opinions):

The reason for the No such file or directory error from yarn install is that you are not using the "correct" Yarn: the software you get when you install yarn using the Ubuntu software sources is the "yarn" scenario testing tool from the cmdtest blackbox testing suite. This is likely not what you meant as Yarn is also a popular development lifecycle tool for Javascript application (similar to Make, Maven and friends).

The Javascript Yarn tool is not available from Ubuntu software sources but can be installed by NPM (which is another development lifecycle tool that Yarn aims to replace - so that's awkward...).

To make Yarn available in Ubuntu, start by removing cmdtest and its tools:

$ sudo apt purge cmdtest

Then make sure NPM is installed:

$ sudo apt install npm

Then use NPM to install Yarn:

$ npm install -g yarn

Note: using npm install -g will install a Javascript package for your current user account, which should be fine for most purposes. If you want to install Yarn for all users, you can use sudo for the NPM command, but that is not recommended: NPM packages are rarely audited for security in the context of a multi-user operating system and installing some packages might even break when installing them as "root". NPM used to warn against running it with sudo and the main reason it is not doing so today is that it annoys people that use sandboxed "root-like" environments (such as Docker) for building and deploying Javascript applications for single-user servers.

What does servletcontext.getRealPath("/") mean and when should I use it

A web application's context path is the directory that contains the web application's WEB-INF directory. It can be thought of as the 'home' of the web app. Often, when writing web applications, it can be important to get the actual location of this directory in the file system, since this allows you to do things such as read from files or write to files.

This location can be obtained via the ServletContext object's getRealPath() method. This method can be passed a String parameter set to File.separator to get the path using the operating system's file separator ("/" for UNIX, "\" for Windows).

Regex - Should hyphens be escaped?

Typically you would always put the hyphen first in the [] match section. EG, to match any alphanumeric character including hyphens (written the long way), you would use [-a-zA-Z0-9]

Copy to Clipboard for all Browsers using javascript

I spent a lot of time looking for a solution to this problem too. Here's what i've found thus far:

If you want your users to be able to click on a button and copy some text, you may have to use Flash.

If you want your users to press Ctrl+C anywhere on the page, but always copy xyz to the clipboard, I wrote an all-JS solution in YUI3 (although it could easily be ported to other frameworks, or raw JS if you're feeling particularly self-loathing).

It involves creating a textbox off the screen which gets highlighted as soon as the user hits Ctrl/CMD. When they hit 'C' shortly after, they copy the hidden text. If they hit 'V', they get redirected to a container (of your choice) before the paste event fires.

This method can work well, because while you listen for the Ctrl/CMD keydown anywhere in the body, the 'A', 'C' or 'V' keydown listeners only attach to the hidden text box (and not the whole body). It also doesn't have to break the users expectations - you only get redirected to the hidden box if you had nothing selected to copy anyway!

Here's what i've got working on my site, but check http://at.cg/js/clipboard.js for updates if there are any:

YUI.add('clipboard', function(Y) {

// Change this to the id of the text area you would like to always paste in to:

pasteBox = Y.one('#pasteDIV');

// Make a hidden textbox somewhere off the page.

Y.one('body').append('<input id="copyBox" type="text" name="result" style="position:fixed; top:-20%;" onkeyup="pasteBox.focus()">');
copyBox = Y.one('#copyBox');

// Key bindings for Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, etc:

// Catch Ctrl/Window/Apple keydown anywhere on the page.
Y.on('key', function(e) {
    copyData();
        // Uncomment below alert and remove keyCodes after 'down:' to figure out keyCodes for other buttons.
        //  alert(e.keyCode);
        //  }, 'body',  'down:', Y);
}, 'body',  'down:91,224,17', Y);

// Catch V - BUT ONLY WHEN PRESSED IN THE copyBox!!!
Y.on('key', function(e) {
    // Oh no! The user wants to paste, but their about to paste into the hidden #copyBox!!
    // Luckily, pastes happen on keyPress (which is why if you hold down the V you get lots of pastes), and we caught the V on keyDown (before keyPress).
    // Thus, if we're quick, we can redirect the user to the right box and they can unload their paste into the appropriate container. phew.
    pasteBox.select();
}, '#copyBox',  'down:86', Y);

// Catch A - BUT ONLY WHEN PRESSED IN THE copyBox!!!
Y.on('key', function(e) {
    // User wants to select all - but he/she is in the hidden #copyBox! That wont do.. select the pasteBox instead (which is probably where they wanted to be).
    pasteBox.select();
}, '#copyBox',  'down:65', Y);

// What to do when keybindings are fired:

// User has pressed Ctrl/Meta, and is probably about to press A,C or V. If they've got nothing selected, or have selected what you want them to copy, redirect to the hidden copyBox!
function copyData() {
    var txt = '';
    // props to Sabarinathan Arthanari for sharing with the world how to get the selected text on a page, cheers mate!
        if (window.getSelection) { txt = window.getSelection(); }
        else if (document.getSelection) { txt = document.getSelection(); }
        else if (document.selection) { txt = document.selection.createRange().text; }
        else alert('Something went wrong and I have no idea why - please contact me with your browser type (Firefox, Safari, etc) and what you tried to copy and I will fix this immediately!');

    // If the user has nothing selected after pressing Ctrl/Meta, they might want to copy what you want them to copy.
        if(txt=='') {
                copyBox.select();
        }
    // They also might have manually selected what you wanted them to copy! How unnecessary! Maybe now is the time to tell them how silly they are..?!
        else if (txt == copyBox.get('value')) {
        alert('This site uses advanced copy/paste technology, possibly from the future.\n \nYou do not need to select things manually - just press Ctrl+C! \n \n(Ctrl+V will always paste to the main box too.)');
                copyBox.select();
        } else {
                // They also might have selected something completely different! If so, let them. It's only fair.
        }
}
});

Hope someone else finds this useful :]

Use PHP to convert PNG to JPG with compression?

PHP has some image processing functions along with the imagecreatefrompng and imagejpeg function. The first will create an internal representation of a PNG image file while the second is used to save that representation as JPEG image file.

Java ArrayList of Doubles

1) "Unnecessarily complicated" is IMHO to create first an unmodifiable List before adding its elements to the ArrayList.

2) The solution matches exact the question: "Is there a way to define an ArrayList with the double type?"

double type:

double[] arr = new double[] {1.38, 2.56, 4.3};

ArrayList:

ArrayList<Double> list = DoubleStream.of( arr ).boxed().collect(
    Collectors.toCollection( new Supplier<ArrayList<Double>>() {
      public ArrayList<Double> get() {
        return( new ArrayList<Double>() );
      }
    } ) );

…and this creates the same compact and fast compilation as its Java 1.8 short-form:

ArrayList<Double> list = DoubleStream.of( arr ).boxed().collect(
    Collectors.toCollection( ArrayList::new ) );

Unable to login to SQL Server + SQL Server Authentication + Error: 18456

I had this same problem, however mine was because I hadn't set the Server authentication to "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode" (which you had) I just wanted to mention it here in case someone missed it in your question.

You can access this by

  • Right click on instance (IE SQLServer2008)
  • Select "Properties"
  • Select "Security" option
  • Change "Server authentication" to "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode"
  • Restart the SQLServer service
    • Right click on instance
    • Click "Restart"

MongoDB running but can't connect using shell

On Ubuntu:

Wed Jan 27 10:21:32 Error: couldn't connect to server 127.0.0.1 shell/mongo.js:84 exception: connect failed

Solution

look for if mongodb is running by following command:

ps -ef | grep mongo

If mongo is not running you get:

 vimal     1806  1698  0 10:11 pts/0    00:00:00 grep --color=auto mongo

You are seeing that the mongo daemon is not there.

Then start it through configuration file(with root priev):

root@vimal:/data# mongod --config /etc/mongodb.conf &
[1] 2131
root@vimal:/data# all output going to: /var/log/mongodb/mongodb.log

you can see the other details:

root@vimal:~# more /etc/mongodb.conf

Open a new terminal to see the result of mongod --config /etc/mongodb.conf & then type mongo. It should be running or grep

root@vimal:/data# ps -ef | grep mongo

root      3153     1  2 11:39 ?        00:00:23 mongod --config /etc/mongodb.conf
root      3772  3489  0 11:55 pts/1    00:00:00 grep --color=auto mongo

NOW

root@vimal:/data# mongo

MongoDB shell version: 2.0.4
connecting to: test

you get the mongoDB shell

This is not the end of story. I will post the repair method so that it starts automatically every time, most development machine shutdowns every day and the VM must have mongo started automatically at next boot.

How can I see the size of files and directories in linux?

Go to the chosen directory and execute:

56M ./etc
12G ./root
33G ./var
23M ./tmp
3.2G    ./usr

Cannot enqueue Handshake after invoking quit

According to:

TL;DR You need to establish a new connection by calling the createConnection method after every disconnection.

and

Note: If you're serving web requests, then you shouldn't be ending connections on every request. Just create a connection on server startup and use the connection/client object to query all the time. You can listen on the error event to handle server disconnection and for reconnecting purposes. Full code here.

From:

It says:

Server disconnects

You may lose the connection to a MySQL server due to network problems, the server timing you out, or the server crashing. All of these events are considered fatal errors, and will have the err.code = 'PROTOCOL_CONNECTION_LOST'. See the Error Handling section for more information.

The best way to handle such unexpected disconnects is shown below:

function handleDisconnect(connection) {
  connection.on('error', function(err) {
    if (!err.fatal) {
      return;
    }

    if (err.code !== 'PROTOCOL_CONNECTION_LOST') {
      throw err;
    }

    console.log('Re-connecting lost connection: ' + err.stack);

    connection = mysql.createConnection(connection.config);
    handleDisconnect(connection);
    connection.connect();
  });
}

handleDisconnect(connection);

As you can see in the example above, re-connecting a connection is done by establishing a new connection. Once terminated, an existing connection object cannot be re-connected by design.

With Pool, disconnected connections will be removed from the pool freeing up space for a new connection to be created on the next getConnection call.

I have tweaked the function such that every time a connection is needed, an initializer function adds the handlers automatically:

function initializeConnection(config) {
    function addDisconnectHandler(connection) {
        connection.on("error", function (error) {
            if (error instanceof Error) {
                if (error.code === "PROTOCOL_CONNECTION_LOST") {
                    console.error(error.stack);
                    console.log("Lost connection. Reconnecting...");

                    initializeConnection(connection.config);
                } else if (error.fatal) {
                    throw error;
                }
            }
        });
    }

    var connection = mysql.createConnection(config);

    // Add handlers.
    addDisconnectHandler(connection);

    connection.connect();
    return connection;
}

Initializing a connection:

var connection = initializeConnection({
    host: "localhost",
    user: "user",
    password: "password"
});

Minor suggestion: This may not apply to everyone but I did run into a minor issue relating to scope. If the OP feels this edit was unnecessary then he/she can choose to remove it. For me, I had to change a line in initializeConnection, which was var connection = mysql.createConnection(config); to simply just

connection = mysql.createConnection(config);

The reason being that if connection is a global variable in your program, then the issue before was that you were making a new connection variable when handling an error signal. But in my nodejs code, I kept using the same global connection variable to run queries on, so the new connection would be lost in the local scope of the initalizeConnection method. But in the modification, it ensures that the global connection variable is reset This may be relevant if you're experiencing an issue known as

Cannot enqueue Query after fatal error

after trying to perform a query after losing connection and then successfully reconnecting. This may have been a typo by the OP, but I just wanted to clarify.

Making a cURL call in C#

Well if you are new to C# with cmd-line exp. you can use online sites like "https://curl.olsh.me/" or search curl to C# converter will returns site that could do that for you.

or if you are using postman you can use Generate Code Snippet only problem with Postman code generator is the dependency on RestSharp library.

How to get method parameter names?

Returns a list of argument names, takes care of partials and regular functions:

Hover and Active only when not disabled

One way is to add a partcular class while disabling buttons and overriding the hover and active states for that class in css. Or removing a class when disabling and specifying the hover and active pseudo properties on that class only in css. Either way, it likely cannot be done purely with css, you'll need to use a bit of js.

How to check if running as root in a bash script

In a bash script, you have several ways to check if the running user is root.

As a warning, do not check if a user is root by using the root username. Nothing guarantees that the user with ID 0 is called root. It's a very strong convention that is broadly followed but anybody could rename the superuser another name.

I think the best way when using bash is to use $EUID, from the man page:

EUID Expands to the effective user ID of the current user, initialized
       at shell startup. This variable is readonly.

This is a better way than $UID which could be changed and not reflect the real user running the script.

if (( $EUID != 0 )); then
    echo "Please run as root"
    exit
fi

A way I approach that kind of problem is by injecting sudo in my commands when not run as root. Here is an example:

SUDO=''
if (( $EUID != 0 )); then
    SUDO='sudo'
fi
$SUDO a_command

This ways my command is run by root when using the superuser or by sudo when run by a regular user.

If your script is always to be run by root, simply set the rights accordingly (0500).

How to recover a dropped stash in Git?

The accepted answer by Aristotle will show all reachable commits, including non-stash-like commits. To filter out the noise:

git fsck --no-reflog | \
awk '/dangling commit/ {print $3}' | \
xargs git log --no-walk --format="%H" \
  --grep="WIP on" --min-parents=3 --max-parents=3

This will only include commits which have exactly 3 parent commits (which a stash will have), and whose message includes "WIP on".

Keep in mind, that if you saved your stash with a message (e.g. git stash save "My newly created stash"), this will override the default "WIP on..." message.

You can display more information about each commit, e.g. display the commit message, or pass it to git stash show:

git fsck --no-reflog | \
awk '/dangling commit/ {print $3}' | \
xargs git log --no-walk --format="%H" \
  --grep="WIP on" --min-parents=3 --max-parents=3 | \
xargs -n1 -I '{}' bash -c "\
  git log -1 --format=medium --color=always '{}'; echo; \
  git stash show --color=always '{}'; echo; echo" | \
less -R

jQuery remove all list items from an unordered list

An example using .remove():

<p>Remove LI's from list</p>
<ul>
    <li>Test</li>
    <li>Test</li>
    <li>Test</li>
    <li>Test</li>
    <li>Test</li>
</ul>
<p>END</p>

setTimeout(function(){$('ul li').remove();},1000);

Also, .empty() should have worked.

Flexbox: 4 items per row

Flex wrap + negative margin

Why flex vs. display: inline-block?

Why negative margin?

Either you use SCSS or CSS-in-JS for the edge cases (i.e. first element in column), or you set a default margin and get rid of the outer margin later.

Inner join of DataTables in C#

If you are allowed to use LINQ, take a look at the following example. It creates two DataTables with integer columns, fills them with some records, join them using LINQ query and outputs them to Console.

    DataTable dt1 = new DataTable();
    dt1.Columns.Add("CustID", typeof(int));
    dt1.Columns.Add("ColX", typeof(int));
    dt1.Columns.Add("ColY", typeof(int));

    DataTable dt2 = new DataTable();
    dt2.Columns.Add("CustID", typeof(int));
    dt2.Columns.Add("ColZ", typeof(int));

    for (int i = 1; i <= 5; i++)
    {
        DataRow row = dt1.NewRow();
        row["CustID"] = i;
        row["ColX"] = 10 + i;
        row["ColY"] = 20 + i;
        dt1.Rows.Add(row);

        row = dt2.NewRow();
        row["CustID"] = i;
        row["ColZ"] = 30 + i;
        dt2.Rows.Add(row);
    }

    var results = from table1 in dt1.AsEnumerable()
                 join table2 in dt2.AsEnumerable() on (int)table1["CustID"] equals (int)table2["CustID"]
                 select new
                 {
                     CustID = (int)table1["CustID"],
                     ColX = (int)table1["ColX"],
                     ColY = (int)table1["ColY"],
                     ColZ = (int)table2["ColZ"]
                 };
    foreach (var item in results)
    {
        Console.WriteLine(String.Format("ID = {0}, ColX = {1}, ColY = {2}, ColZ = {3}", item.CustID, item.ColX, item.ColY, item.ColZ));
    }
    Console.ReadLine();

// Output:
// ID = 1, ColX = 11, ColY = 21, ColZ = 31
// ID = 2, ColX = 12, ColY = 22, ColZ = 32
// ID = 3, ColX = 13, ColY = 23, ColZ = 33
// ID = 4, ColX = 14, ColY = 24, ColZ = 34
// ID = 5, ColX = 15, ColY = 25, ColZ = 35

Resetting MySQL Root Password with XAMPP on Localhost

You want to edit this file: "\xampp\phpMyAdmin\config.inc.php"

change this line:

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'WhateverPassword';

to whatever your password is. If you don't remember your password, then run this command within the Shell:

mysqladmin.exe -u root password WhateverPassword

where WhateverPassword is your new password.

How to tell CRAN to install package dependencies automatically?

On your own system, try

install.packages("foo", dependencies=...)

with the dependencies= argument is documented as

dependencies: logical indicating to also install uninstalled packages
      which these packages depend on/link to/import/suggest (and so
      on recursively). Not used if ‘repos = NULL’. Can also be a
      character vector, a subset of ‘c("Depends", "Imports",
      "LinkingTo", "Suggests", "Enhances")’.

      Only supported if ‘lib’ is of length one (or missing), so it
      is unambiguous where to install the dependent packages. If
      this is not the case it is ignored, with a warning.

      The default, ‘NA’, means ‘c("Depends", "Imports",
      "LinkingTo")’.

      ‘TRUE’ means (as from R 2.15.0) to use ‘c("Depends",
      "Imports", "LinkingTo", "Suggests")’ for ‘pkgs’ and
      ‘c("Depends", "Imports", "LinkingTo")’ for added
      dependencies: this installs all the packages needed to run
      ‘pkgs’, their examples, tests and vignettes (if the package
      author specified them correctly).

so you probably want a value TRUE.

In your package, list what is needed in Depends:, see the Writing R Extensions manual which is pretty clear on this.

Select count(*) from multiple tables

As I can't see any other answer bring this up.

If you don't like sub-queries and have primary keys in each table you can do this:

select count(distinct tab1.id) as count_t1,
       count(distinct tab2.id) as count_t2

But performance wise I believe that Quassnoi's solution is better, and the one I would use.

How to check if the given string is palindrome?

A simple Java solution:

public boolean isPalindrome(String testString) {
    StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer(testString);
    String reverseString = sb.reverse().toString();

    if(testString.equalsIgnoreCase(reverseString)) {
        return true;
    else {
        return false;
    }
}

Cannot implicitly convert type 'int' to 'short'

Adding two Int16 values result in an Int32 value. You will have to cast it to Int16:

Int16 answer = (Int16) (firstNo + secondNo);

You can avoid this problem by switching all your numbers to Int32.

How do I make a self extract and running installer

I have created step by step instructions on how to do this as I also was very confused about how to get this working.

How to make a self extracting archive that runs your setup.exe with 7zip -sfx switch

Here are the steps.

Step 1 - Setup your installation folder

To make this easy create a folder c:\Install. This is where we will copy all the required files.

Step 2 - 7Zip your installers

  1. Go to the folder that has your .msi and your setup.exe
  2. Select both the .msi and the setup.exe
  3. Right-Click and choose 7Zip --> "Add to Archive"
  4. Name your archive "Installer.7z" (or a name of your choice)
  5. Click Ok
  6. You should now have "Installer.7z".
  7. Copy this .7z file to your c:\Install directory

Step 3 - Get the 7z-Extra sfx extension module

You need to download 7zSD.sfx

  1. Download one of the LZMA packages from here
  2. Extract the package and find 7zSD.sfx in the bin folder.
  3. Copy the file "7zSD.sfx" to c:\Install

Step 4 - Setup your config.txt

I would recommend using NotePad++ to edit this text file as you will need to encode in UTF-8, the following instructions are using notepad++.

  1. Using windows explorer go to c:\Install
  2. right-click and choose "New Text File" and name it config.txt
  3. right-click and choose "Edit with NotePad++
  4. Click the "Encoding Menu" and choose "Encode in UTF-8"
  5. Enter something like this:

    ;!@Install@!UTF-8!
    Title="SOFTWARE v1.0.0.0"
    BeginPrompt="Do you want to install SOFTWARE v1.0.0.0?"
    RunProgram="setup.exe"
    ;!@InstallEnd@!

Edit this replacing [SOFTWARE v1.0.0.0] with your product name. Notes on the parameters and options for the setup file are here.

CheckPoint

You should now have a folder "c:\Install" with the following 3 files:

  1. Installer.7z
  2. 7zSD.sfx
  3. config.txt

Step 5 - Create the archive

These instructions I found on the web but nowhere did it explain any of the 4 steps above.

  1. Open a cmd window, Window + R --> cmd --> press enter
  2. In the command window type the following

    cd \
    cd Install
    copy /b 7zSD.sfx + config.txt + Installer.7z MyInstaller.exe

  3. Look in c:\Install and you will now see you have a MyInstaller.exe

  4. You are finished

Run the installer

Double click on MyInstaller.exe and it will prompt with your message. Click OK and the setup.exe will run.

P.S. Note on Automation

Now that you have this working in your c:\Install directory I would create an "Install.bat" file and put the copy script in it.

copy /b 7zSD.sfx + config.txt + Installer.7z MyInstaller.exe

Now you can just edit and run the Install.bat every time you need to rebuild a new version of you deployment package.

How to use Scanner to accept only valid int as input

  1. the condition num2 < num1 should be num2 <= num1 if num2 has to be greater than num1
  2. not knowing what the kb object is, I'd read a String and then trying Integer.parseInt() and if you don't catch an exception then it's a number, if you do, read a new one, maybe by setting num2 to Integer.MIN_VALUE and using the same type of logic in your example.

Extract the first word of a string in a SQL Server query

Marc's answer got me most of the way to what I needed, but I had to go with patIndex rather than charIndex because sometimes characters other than spaces mark the ends of my data's words. Here I'm using '%[ /-]%' to look for space, slash, or dash.

Select race_id, race_description
    , Case patIndex ('%[ /-]%', LTrim (race_description))
        When 0 Then LTrim (race_description)
        Else substring (LTrim (race_description), 1, patIndex ('%[ /-]%', LTrim (race_description)) - 1)
    End race_abbreviation
from tbl_races

Results...

race_id  race_description           race_abbreviation
-------  -------------------------  -----------------
1        White                      White
2 Black or African American Black
3        Hispanic/Latino            Hispanic

Caveat: this is for a small data set (US federal race reporting categories); I don't know what would happen to performance when scaled up to huge numbers.

PDO's query vs execute

Gilean's answer is great, but I just wanted to add that sometimes there are rare exceptions to best practices, and you might want to test your environment both ways to see what will work best.

In one case, I found that query worked faster for my purposes because I was bulk transferring trusted data from an Ubuntu Linux box running PHP7 with the poorly supported Microsoft ODBC driver for MS SQL Server.

I arrived at this question because I had a long running script for an ETL that I was trying to squeeze for speed. It seemed intuitive to me that query could be faster than prepare & execute because it was calling only one function instead of two. The parameter binding operation provides excellent protection, but it might be expensive and possibly avoided if unnecessary.

Given a couple rare conditions:

  1. If you can't reuse a prepared statement because it's not supported by the Microsoft ODBC driver.

  2. If you're not worried about sanitizing input and simple escaping is acceptable. This may be the case because binding certain datatypes isn't supported by the Microsoft ODBC driver.

  3. PDO::lastInsertId is not supported by the Microsoft ODBC driver.

Here's a method I used to test my environment, and hopefully you can replicate it or something better in yours:

To start, I've created a basic table in Microsoft SQL Server

CREATE TABLE performancetest (
    sid INT IDENTITY PRIMARY KEY,
    id INT,
    val VARCHAR(100)
);

And now a basic timed test for performance metrics.

$logs = [];

$test = function (String $type, Int $count = 3000) use ($pdo, &$logs) {
    $start = microtime(true);
    $i = 0;
    while ($i < $count) {
        $sql = "INSERT INTO performancetest (id, val) OUTPUT INSERTED.sid VALUES ($i,'value $i')";
        if ($type === 'query') {
            $smt = $pdo->query($sql);
        } else {
            $smt = $pdo->prepare($sql);
            $smt ->execute();
        }
        $sid = $smt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)['sid'];
        $i++;
    }
    $total = (microtime(true) - $start);
    $logs[$type] []= $total;
    echo "$total $type\n";
};

$trials = 15;
$i = 0;
while ($i < $trials) {
    if (random_int(0,1) === 0) {
        $test('query');
    } else {
        $test('prepare');
    }
    $i++;
}

foreach ($logs as $type => $log) {
    $total = 0;
    foreach ($log as $record) {
        $total += $record;
    }
    $count = count($log);
    echo "($count) $type Average: ".$total/$count.PHP_EOL;
}

I've played with multiple different trial and counts in my specific environment, and consistently get between 20-30% faster results with query than prepare/execute

5.8128969669342 prepare
5.8688418865204 prepare
4.2948560714722 query
4.9533629417419 query
5.9051351547241 prepare
4.332102060318 query
5.9672858715057 prepare
5.0667371749878 query
3.8260300159454 query
4.0791549682617 query
4.3775160312653 query
3.6910600662231 query
5.2708210945129 prepare
6.2671611309052 prepare
7.3791449069977 prepare
(7) prepare Average: 6.0673267160143
(8) query Average: 4.3276024162769

I'm curious to see how this test compares in other environments, like MySQL.

Way to get number of digits in an int?

Enter the number and create an Arraylist, and the while loop will record all the digits into the Arraylist. Then we can take out the size of array, which will be the length of the integer value you entered.

ArrayList<Integer> a=new ArrayList<>();

while(number > 0)
{
    remainder = num % 10;
    a.add(remainder);
    number = number / 10;
}

int m=a.size();

Is ConfigurationManager.AppSettings available in .NET Core 2.0?

The latest set of guidance is as follows: (from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-functions/functions-dotnet-class-library#environment-variables)

Use:

System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable(name, EnvironmentVariableTarget.Process);

From the docs:

public static class EnvironmentVariablesExample
{
    [FunctionName("GetEnvironmentVariables")]
    public static void Run([TimerTrigger("0 */5 * * * *")]TimerInfo myTimer, ILogger log)
    {
        log.LogInformation($"C# Timer trigger function executed at: {DateTime.Now}");
        log.LogInformation(GetEnvironmentVariable("AzureWebJobsStorage"));
        log.LogInformation(GetEnvironmentVariable("WEBSITE_SITE_NAME"));
    }

    public static string GetEnvironmentVariable(string name)
    {
        return name + ": " +
            System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable(name, EnvironmentVariableTarget.Process);
    }
}

App settings can be read from environment variables both when developing locally and when running in Azure. When developing locally, app settings come from the Values collection in the local.settings.json file. In both environments, local and Azure, GetEnvironmentVariable("<app setting name>") retrieves the value of the named app setting. For instance, when you're running locally, "My Site Name" would be returned if your local.settings.json file contains { "Values": { "WEBSITE_SITE_NAME": "My Site Name" } }.

The System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings property is an alternative API for getting app setting values, but we recommend that you use GetEnvironmentVariable as shown here.

Remove all of x axis labels in ggplot

You have to set to element_blank() in theme() elements you need to remove

ggplot(data = diamonds, mapping = aes(x = clarity)) + geom_bar(aes(fill = cut))+
  theme(axis.title.x=element_blank(),
        axis.text.x=element_blank(),
        axis.ticks.x=element_blank())

How to replace all special character into a string using C#

Assume you want to replace symbols which are not digits or letters (and _ character as @Guffa correctly pointed):

string input = "Hello@Hello&Hello(Hello)";
string result = Regex.Replace(input, @"[^\w\d]", ",");
// Hello,Hello,Hello,Hello,

You can add another symbols which should not be replaced. E.g. if you want white space symbols to stay, then just add \s to pattern: \[^\w\d\s]

Using VBA to get extended file attributes

You say loop .. so if you want to do this for a dir instead of the current document;

Dim sFile As Variant
Dim oShell: Set oShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application")
Dim oDir: Set oDir = oShell.Namespace("c:\foo")

For Each sFile In oDir.Items
   Debug.Print oDir.GetDetailsOf(sFile, XXX)
Next

Where XXX is an attribute column index, 9 for Author for example. To list available indexes for your reference you can replace the for loop with;

for i = 0 To 40
   debug.? i, oDir.GetDetailsOf(oDir.Items, i)
Next

Quickly for a single file/attribute:

Const PROP_COMPUTER As Long = 56

With CreateObject("Shell.Application").Namespace("C:\HOSTDIRECTORY")
    MsgBox .GetDetailsOf(.Items.Item("FILE.NAME"), PROP_COMPUTER)
End With

Best implementation for Key Value Pair Data Structure?

Just one thing to add to this (although I do think you have already had your question answered by others). In the interests of extensibility (since we all know it will happen at some point) you may want to check out the Composite Pattern This is ideal for working with "Tree-Like Structures"..

Like I said, I know you are only expecting one sub-level, but this could really be useful for you if you later need to extend ^_^

How to search for string in an array

Another option that enforces exact matching (i.e. no partial matching) would be:

Function IsInArray(stringToBeFound As String, arr As Variant) As Boolean
  IsInArray = Not IsError(Application.Match(stringToBeFound, arr, 0))
End Function

You can read more about the Match method and its arguments at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff835873(v=office.15).aspx

TypeScript typed array usage

The translation is correct, the typing of the expression isn't. TypeScript is incorrectly typing the expression new Thing[100] as an array. It should be an error to index Thing, a constructor function, using the index operator. In C# this would allocate an array of 100 elements. In JavaScript this calls the value at index 100 of Thing as if was a constructor. Since that values is undefined it raises the error you mentioned. In JavaScript and TypeScript you want new Array(100) instead.

You should report this as a bug on CodePlex.

Adding gif image in an ImageView in android

As @Ahmad said in a comment, you can just use the following code to display a gif!

Just simply pop this code in the onCreate method and you're good to go! Also, place your gif inside the assets folder (if you don't have the assets folder, create one under src/main)

WebView wView = new WebView(this);
wView.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/piggy.gif");
setContentView(view);

How to force Hibernate to return dates as java.util.Date instead of Timestamp?

Approaches 1 and 2 obviously don't work, because you get java.sql.Date objects, per JPA/Hibernate spec, and not java.util.Date. From approaches 3 and 4, I would rather choose the latter one, because it's more declarative, and will work with both field and getter annotations.

You have already laid out the solution 4 in your referenced blog post, as @tscho was kind to point out. Maybe defaultForType (see below) should give you the centralized solution you were looking for. Of course will will still need to differentiate between date (without time) and timestamp fields.

For future reference I will leave the summary of using your own Hibernate UserType here:

To make Hibernate give you java.util.Date instances, you can use the @Type and @TypeDef annotations to define a different mapping of your java.util.Date java types to and from the database.

See the examples in the core reference manual here.

  1. Implement a UserType to do the actual plumbing (conversion to/from java.util.Date), named e.g. TimestampAsJavaUtilDateType
  2. Add a @TypeDef annotation on one entity or in a package-info.java - both will be available globally for the session factory (see manual link above). You can use defaultForType to apply the type conversion on all mapped fields of type java.util.Date.

    @TypeDef
      name = "timestampAsJavaUtilDate",
      defaultForType = java.util.Date.class, /* applied globally */
      typeClass = TimestampAsJavaUtilDateType.class
    )

  3. Optionally, instead of defaultForType, you can annotate your fields/getters with @Type individually:

    @Entity
    public class MyEntity {
       [...]
       @Type(type="timestampAsJavaUtilDate")
       private java.util.Date myDate;
       [...]
    }

P.S. To suggest a totally different approach: we usually just don't compare Date objects using equals() anyway. Instead we use a utility class with methods to compare e.g. only the calendar date of two Date instances (or another resolution such as seconds), regardless of the exact implementation type. That as worked well for us.

How do I make a list of data frames?

Taking as a given you have a "large" number of data.frames with similar names (here d# where # is some positive integer), the following is a slight improvement of @mark-miller's method. It is more terse and returns a named list of data.frames, where each name in the list is the name of the corresponding original data.frame.

The key is using mget together with ls. If the data frames d1 and d2 provided in the question were the only objects with names d# in the environment, then

my.list <- mget(ls(pattern="^d[0-9]+"))

which would return

my.list
$d1
  y1 y2
1  1  4
2  2  5
3  3  6

$d2
  y1 y2
1  3  6
2  2  5
3  1  4

This method takes advantage of the pattern argument in ls, which allows us to use regular expressions to do a finer parsing of the names of objects in the environment. An alternative to the regex "^d[0-9]+$" is "^d\\d+$".

As @gregor points out, it is a better overall to set up your data construction process so that the data.frames are put into named lists at the start.

data

d1 <- data.frame(y1 = c(1,2,3),y2 = c(4,5,6))
d2 <- data.frame(y1 = c(3,2,1),y2 = c(6,5,4))

How do Common Names (CN) and Subject Alternative Names (SAN) work together?

CABForum Baseline Requirements

I see no one has mentioned the section in the Baseline Requirements yet. I feel they are important.

Q: SSL - How do Common Names (CN) and Subject Alternative Names (SAN) work together?
A: Not at all. If there are SANs, then CN can be ignored. -- At least if the software that does the checking adheres very strictly to the CABForum's Baseline Requirements.

(So this means I can't answer the "Edit" to your question. Only the original question.)

CABForum Baseline Requirements, v. 1.2.5 (as of 2 April 2015), page 9-10:

9.2.2 Subject Distinguished Name Fields
a. Subject Common Name Field
Certificate Field: subject:commonName (OID 2.5.4.3)
Required/Optional: Deprecated (Discouraged, but not prohibited)
Contents: If present, this field MUST contain a single IP address or Fully-Qualified Domain Name that is one of the values contained in the Certificate’s subjectAltName extension (see Section 9.2.1).

EDIT: Links from @Bruno's comment

RFC 2818: HTTP Over TLS, 2000, Section 3.1: Server Identity:

If a subjectAltName extension of type dNSName is present, that MUST be used as the identity. Otherwise, the (most specific) Common Name field in the Subject field of the certificate MUST be used. Although the use of the Common Name is existing practice, it is deprecated and Certification Authorities are encouraged to use the dNSName instead.

RFC 6125: Representation and Verification of Domain-Based Application Service Identity within Internet Public Key Infrastructure Using X.509 (PKIX) Certificates in the Context of Transport Layer Security (TLS), 2011, Section 6.4.4: Checking of Common Names:

[...] if and only if the presented identifiers do not include a DNS-ID, SRV-ID, URI-ID, or any application-specific identifier types supported by the client, then the client MAY as a last resort check for a string whose form matches that of a fully qualified DNS domain name in a Common Name field of the subject field (i.e., a CN-ID).

How to use jQuery to show/hide divs based on radio button selection?

Just hide them before showing them:

$(document).ready(function(){
    $("input[name$='group2']").click(function() {
        var test = $(this).val();
        $("div.desc").hide();
        $("#"+test).show();
    });
});

How to import an excel file in to a MySQL database

Below is another method to import spreadsheet data into a MySQL database that doesn't rely on any extra software. Let's assume you want to import your Excel table into the sales table of a MySQL database named mydatabase.

  1. Select the relevant cells:

    enter image description here

  2. Paste into Mr. Data Converter and select the output as MySQL:

    enter image description here

  3. Change the table name and column definitions to fit your requirements in the generated output:

CREATE TABLE sales (
  id INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY,
  Country VARCHAR(255),
  Amount INT,
  Qty FLOAT
);
INSERT INTO sales
  (Country,Amount,Qty)
VALUES
  ('America',93,0.60),
  ('Greece',9377,0.80),
  ('Australia',9375,0.80);
  1. If you're using MySQL Workbench or already logged into mysql from the command line, then you can execute the generated SQL statements from step 3 directly. Otherwise, paste the code into a text file (e.g., import.sql) and execute this command from a Unix shell:

    mysql mydatabase < import.sql

    Other ways to import from a SQL file can be found in this Stack Overflow answer.

How to convert image file data in a byte array to a Bitmap?

The answer of Uttam didnt work for me. I just got null when I do:

Bitmap bitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray(bitmapdata, 0, bitmapdata.length);

In my case, bitmapdata only has the buffer of the pixels, so it is imposible for the function decodeByteArray to guess which the width, the height and the color bits use. So I tried this and it worked:

//Create bitmap with width, height, and 4 bytes color (RGBA)
Bitmap bmp = Bitmap.createBitmap(imageWidth, imageHeight, Bitmap.Config.ARGB_8888);
ByteBuffer buffer = ByteBuffer.wrap(bitmapdata);
bmp.copyPixelsFromBuffer(buffer);

Check https://developer.android.com/reference/android/graphics/Bitmap.Config.html for different color options

Getting list of tables, and fields in each, in a database

in a Microsoft SQL Server you can use this:

declare @sql2 nvarchar(2000)
        set @sql2  ='
use ?
if (  db_name(db_id()) not in (''master'',''tempdb'',''model'',''msdb'',''SSISDB'')  )

        when ST.name in (''char'', ''varchar'')
        then convert(varchar(10), SC.max_length)
        else null
    end as length,
    case when SC.is_nullable = 0 then ''No'' when SC.is_nullable = 1 then ''Yes'' else null end as nullable,

this shows you all tables and columns ( and their definition ) from all userdefined databases.

Installing tensorflow with anaconda in windows

If you have anaconda version 2.7 installed on your windows, then go to anaconda prompt, type these two commands:

  1. Create a conda environment for tensorflow using conda create -n tensorflow_env tensorflow
  2. activate the tensorflow using conda activate tensorflow_env

If it is activated, then the base will be replaced by tensorflow_env i.e. now it will show (tensorflow_env) C:\Users>

You can now use import tensorflow as tf for using tensorflow in your code.

How to receive JSON as an MVC 5 action method parameter

You are sending a array of string

var usersRoles = [];
jQuery("#dualSelectRoles2 option").each(function () {
    usersRoles.push(jQuery(this).val());
});

So change model type accordingly

 public ActionResult AddUser(List<string> model)
 {
 }

Download image with JavaScript

As @Ian explained, the problem is that jQuery's click() is not the same as the native one.

Therefore, consider using vanilla-js instead of jQuery:

var a = document.createElement('a');
a.href = "img.png";
a.download = "output.png";
document.body.appendChild(a);
a.click();
document.body.removeChild(a);

printing a two dimensional array in python

I used numpy to generate the array, but list of lists array should work similarly.

Array = np.zeros(shape=(n,n)).astype('int')

for row in Array:
    printArray([str(x) for x in row])

If you want to only print certain indices:

import numpy as np
def printArray(args):
    print "\t".join(args)

n = 10

Array = np.zeros(shape=(n,n)).astype('int')

i_indices = [1,2,3]
j_indices = [2,3,4]

for i in i_indices:printArray([str(Array[i][j]) for j in j_indices])

How to compare data between two table in different databases using Sql Server 2008?

I'v done things like this using the Checksum(*) function

In essance it creates a row level checksum on all the columns data, you could then compare the checksum of each row for each table to each other, use a left join, to find rows that are different.

Hope that made sense...

Better with an example....

select *
from
( select checksum(*) as chk, userid as k from UserAccounts) as t1
left join
( select checksum(*) as chk, userid as k from UserAccounts) as t2 on t1.k = t2.k
where t1.chk <> t2.chk

JSON.stringify doesn't work with normal Javascript array

Alternatively you can use like this

var test = new Array();
test[0]={};
test[0]['a'] = 'test';
test[1]={};
test[1]['b'] = 'test b';
var json = JSON.stringify(test);
alert(json);

Like this you JSON-ing a array.

Bootstrap 3: Offset isn't working?

Which version of bootstrap are you using? The early versions of Bootstrap 3 (3.0, 3.0.1) didn't work with this functionality.

col-md-offset-0 should be working as seen in this bootstrap example found here (http://getbootstrap.com/css/#grid-responsive-resets):

   <div class="col-sm-5 col-md-6">.col-sm-5 .col-md-6</div>

The OutputPath property is not set for this project

After trying all the other suggestions posted here, I discovered the solution for me was to remove the following section from the .csproj file:

  <ItemGroup>
    <Service Include="{808359B6-6B82-4DF5-91FF-3FCBEEBAD811}" />
  </ItemGroup>

Apparently this service from the original project (unavailable on local machine) was halting the entire build process, even though it wasn't essential for compilation.

How to add a fragment to a programmatically generated layout?

At some point, I suppose you will add your programatically created LinearLayout to some root layout that you defined in .xml. This is just a suggestion of mine and probably one of many solutions, but it works: Simply set an ID for the programatically created layout, and add it to the root layout that you defined in .xml, and then use the set ID to add the Fragment.

It could look like this:

LinearLayout rowLayout = new LinearLayout();
rowLayout.setId(whateveryouwantasid);
// add rowLayout to the root layout somewhere here

FragmentManager fragMan = getFragmentManager();
FragmentTransaction fragTransaction = fragMan.beginTransaction();

Fragment myFrag = new ImageFragment();
fragTransaction.add(rowLayout.getId(), myFrag , "fragment" + fragCount);
fragTransaction.commit();

Simply choose whatever Integer value you want for the ID:

rowLayout.setId(12345);

If you are using the above line of code not just once, it would probably be smart to figure out a way to create unique-IDs, in order to avoid duplicates.

UPDATE:

Here is the full code of how it should be done: (this code is tested and works) I am adding two Fragments to a LinearLayout with horizontal orientation, resulting in the Fragments being aligned next to each other. Please also be aware, that I used a fixed height and width of 200dp, so that one Fragment does not use the full screen as it would with "match_parent".

MainActivity.java:

public class MainActivity extends Activity {

    @SuppressLint("NewApi")
    @Override
    protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);

        LinearLayout fragContainer = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.llFragmentContainer);

        LinearLayout ll = new LinearLayout(this);
        ll.setOrientation(LinearLayout.HORIZONTAL);

        ll.setId(12345);

        getFragmentManager().beginTransaction().add(ll.getId(), TestFragment.newInstance("I am frag 1"), "someTag1").commit();
        getFragmentManager().beginTransaction().add(ll.getId(), TestFragment.newInstance("I am frag 2"), "someTag2").commit();

        fragContainer.addView(ll);
    }
}

TestFragment.java:

public class TestFragment extends Fragment {

    public static TestFragment newInstance(String text) {

        TestFragment f = new TestFragment();

        Bundle b = new Bundle();
        b.putString("text", text);
        f.setArguments(b);
        return f;
    }

    @Override
    public View onCreateView(LayoutInflater inflater, ViewGroup container, Bundle savedInstanceState) {

        View v =  inflater.inflate(R.layout.fragment, container, false);

        ((TextView) v.findViewById(R.id.tvFragText)).setText(getArguments().getString("text"));
        return v;
    }
}

activity_main.xml:

<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
    android:id="@+id/rlMain"
    android:layout_width="match_parent"
    android:layout_height="match_parent"
    android:padding="5dp"
    tools:context=".MainActivity" >

    <TextView
        android:id="@+id/textView1"
        android:layout_width="wrap_content"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:text="@string/hello_world" />

    <LinearLayout
        android:id="@+id/llFragmentContainer"
        android:layout_width="match_parent"
        android:layout_height="match_parent"
        android:layout_alignLeft="@+id/textView1"
        android:layout_below="@+id/textView1"
        android:layout_marginTop="19dp"
        android:orientation="vertical" >
    </LinearLayout>
</RelativeLayout>

fragment.xml:

  <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:layout_width="200dp"
    android:layout_height="200dp" >

    <TextView
        android:id="@+id/tvFragText"
        android:layout_width="wrap_content"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:layout_centerHorizontal="true"
        android:layout_centerVertical="true"
        android:text="" />

</RelativeLayout>

And this is the result of the above code: (the two Fragments are aligned next to each other) result

Convert SVG image to PNG with PHP

That's funny you asked this, I just did this recently for my work's site and I was thinking I should write a tutorial... Here is how to do it with PHP/Imagick, which uses ImageMagick:

$usmap = '/path/to/blank/us-map.svg';
$im = new Imagick();
$svg = file_get_contents($usmap);

/*loop to color each state as needed, something like*/
$idColorArray = array(
     "AL" => "339966"
    ,"AK" => "0099FF"
    ...
    ,"WI" => "FF4B00"
    ,"WY" => "A3609B"
);

foreach($idColorArray as $state => $color){
//Where $color is a RRGGBB hex value
    $svg = preg_replace(
         '/id="'.$state.'" style="fill:#([0-9a-f]{6})/'
        , 'id="'.$state.'" style="fill:#'.$color
        , $svg
    );
}

$im->readImageBlob($svg);

/*png settings*/
$im->setImageFormat("png24");
$im->resizeImage(720, 445, imagick::FILTER_LANCZOS, 1);  /*Optional, if you need to resize*/

/*jpeg*/
$im->setImageFormat("jpeg");
$im->adaptiveResizeImage(720, 445); /*Optional, if you need to resize*/

$im->writeImage('/path/to/colored/us-map.png');/*(or .jpg)*/
$im->clear();
$im->destroy();

the steps regex color replacement may vary depending on the svg path xml and how you id & color values are stored. If you don't want to store a file on the server, you can output the image as base 64 like

<?php echo '<img src="data:image/jpg;base64,' . base64_encode($im) . '"  />';?>

(before you use clear/destroy) but ie has issues with PNG as base64 so you'd probably have to output base64 as jpeg

you can see an example here I did for a former employer's sales territory map:

Start: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1a/Blank_US_Map_(states_only).svg

Finish: enter image description here

Edit

Since writing the above, I've come up with 2 improved techniques:

1) instead of a regex loop to change the fill on state , use CSS to make style rules like

<style type="text/css">
#CA,#FL,HI{
    fill:blue;
}
#Al, #NY, #NM{
    fill:#cc6699;
}
/*etc..*/
</style>

and then you can do a single text replace to inject your css rules into the svg before proceeding with the imagick jpeg/png creation. If the colors don't change, check to make sure you don't have any inline fill styles in your path tags overriding the css.

2) If you don't have to actually create a jpeg/png image file (and don't need to support outdated browsers), you can manipulate the svg directly with jQuery. You can't access the svg paths when embedding the svg using img or object tags, so you'll have to directly include the svg xml in your webpage html like:

<div>
<?php echo file_get_contents('/path/to/blank/us-map.svg');?>
</div>

then changing the colors is as easy as:

<script type="text/javascript" src="/path/to/jquery.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
    $('#CA').css('fill', 'blue');
    $('#NY').css('fill', '#ff0000');
</script>

Insert a string at a specific index

my_string          = "hello world";
my_insert          = " dear";
my_insert_location = 5;

my_string = my_string.split('');
my_string.splice( my_insert_location , 0, my_insert );
my_string = my_string.join('');

What is InputStream & Output Stream? Why and when do we use them?

From the Java Tutorial:

A stream is a sequence of data.

A program uses an input stream to read data from a source, one item at a time:

enter image description here

A program uses an output stream to write data to a destination, one item at time:

enter image description here

The data source and data destination pictured above can be anything that holds, generates, or consumes data. Obviously this includes disk files, but a source or destination can also be another program, a peripheral device, a network socket, or an array.

Sample code from oracle tutorial:

import java.io.FileInputStream;
import java.io.FileOutputStream;
import java.io.IOException;

public class CopyBytes {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {

        FileInputStream in = null;
        FileOutputStream out = null;

        try {
            in = new FileInputStream("xanadu.txt");
            out = new FileOutputStream("outagain.txt");
            int c;

            while ((c = in.read()) != -1) {
                out.write(c);
            }
        } finally {
            if (in != null) {
                in.close();
            }
            if (out != null) {
                out.close();
            }
        }
    }
}

This program uses byte streams to copy xanadu.txt file to outagain.txt , by writing one byte at a time

Have a look at this SE question to know more details about advanced Character streams, which are wrappers on top of Byte Streams :

byte stream and character stream

How to run bootRun with spring profile via gradle task

For someone from internet, there was a similar question https://stackoverflow.com/a/35848666/906265 I do provide the modified answer from it here as well:

// make sure bootRun is executed when this task runs
task runDev(dependsOn:bootRun) {
    // TaskExecutionGraph is populated only after

then in terminal:

gradle runDev

X-Frame-Options Allow-From multiple domains

From RFC 7034:

Wildcards or lists to declare multiple domains in one ALLOW-FROM statement are not permitted

So,

How do I set the X-Frame-Options: ALLOW-FROM to support more than a single domain?

You can't. As a workaround you can use different URLs for different partners. For each URL you can use it's own X-Frame-Options value. For example:

partner   iframe URL       ALLOW-FROM
---------------------------------------
Facebook  fb.yoursite.com  facebook.com
VK.COM    vk.yoursite.com  vk.com

For yousite.com you can just use X-Frame-Options: deny.

BTW, for now Chrome (and all webkit-based browsers) does not support ALLOW-FROM statements at all.

Getting CheckBoxList Item values

You can try this:-

string values = "";
foreach(ListItem item in myCBL.Items){
if(item.Selected)
{
values += item.Value.ToString() + ",";
}
}
values = values.TrimEnd(','); //To eliminate comma in last.

Making a button invisible by clicking another button in HTML

</script>
<input id="p2" type="submit" value="submit" name="submit" />

Java reading a file into an ArrayList?

To share some analysis info. With a simple test how long it takes to read ~1180 lines of values.

If you need to read the data very fast, use the good old BufferedReader FileReader example. It took me ~8ms

The Scanner is much slower. Took me ~138ms

The nice Java 8 Files.lines(...) is the slowest version. Took me ~388ms.

SQL/mysql - Select distinct/UNIQUE but return all columns?

SELECT DISTINCT FIELD1, FIELD2, FIELD3 FROM TABLE1 works if the values of all three columns are unique in the table.

If, for example, you have multiple identical values for first name, but the last name and other information in the selected columns is different, the record will be included in the result set.

How to undo a git pull?

git reflog show should show you the history of HEAD. You can use that to figure out where you were before the pull. Then you can reset your HEAD to that commit.

TimeStamp on file name using PowerShell

What is the difference between Builder Design pattern and Factory Design pattern?

The main difference between them is that the Builder pattern primarily describes the creation of complex objects step by step. In the Abstract Factory pattern, the emphasis is on families of objects-products. Builder returns the product in the last step. While in the Abstract Factory pattern the product is available immediately.

Example: Let say that we are creating Maze

1. Abstract Factory:

Maze* MazeGame::CreateMaze (MazeFactory& factory) {
Maze* maze = factory.MakeMaze(); /// product is available at start!!
 /* Call some methods on maze */
return maze;
}

2. Builder:

Maze* MazeGame::CreateMaze (MazeBuilder& builder) {
builder.buildMaze(); /// We don't have access to maze
 /* Call some methods on builder */
return builder.GetMaze();
}

How to use Bootstrap 4 in ASP.NET Core

what is numeric(18, 0) in sql server 2008 r2

This page explains it pretty well.

As a numeric the allowable range that can be stored in that field is -10^38 +1 to 10^38 - 1.

The first number in parentheses is the total number of digits that will be stored. Counting both sides of the decimal. In this case 18. So you could have a number with 18 digits before the decimal 18 digits after the decimal or some combination in between.

The second number in parentheses is the total number of digits to be stored after the decimal. Since in this case the number is 0 that basically means only integers can be stored in this field.

So the range that can be stored in this particular field is -(10^18 - 1) to (10^18 - 1)

Or -999999999999999999 to 999999999999999999 Integers only

Apply a function to every row of a matrix or a data frame

Apply does the job well, but is quite slow. Using sapply and vapply could be useful. dplyr's rowwise could also be useful Let's see an example of how to do row wise product of any data frame.

a = data.frame(t(iris[1:10,1:3]))
vapply(a, prod, 0)
sapply(a, prod)

Note that assigning to variable before using vapply/sapply/ apply is good practice as it reduces time a lot. Let's see microbenchmark results

a = data.frame(t(iris[1:10,1:3]))
b = iris[1:10,1:3]
microbenchmark::microbenchmark(
    apply(b, 1 , prod),
    vapply(a, prod, 0),
    sapply(a, prod) ,
    apply(iris[1:10,1:3], 1 , prod),
    vapply(data.frame(t(iris[1:10,1:3])), prod, 0),
    sapply(data.frame(t(iris[1:10,1:3])), prod) ,
    b %>%  rowwise() %>%
        summarise(p = prod(Sepal.Length,Sepal.Width,Petal.Length))
)

Have a careful look at how t() is being used

How can I pass selected row to commandLink inside dataTable or ui:repeat?

In my view page:

<p:dataTable  ...>

</p:dataTable>

backing bean

 public void viewDetail(ActionEvent e) {

    String trxNo = getFacesContext().getRequestParameterMap().get("trxNo");

    for (DTO item : list) {
        if (item.get("trxNo").toString().equals(trxNo)) {
            System.out.println(trxNo);

Find empty or NaN entry in Pandas Dataframe

you also do something good:

text_empty = df['column name'].str.len() > -1

df.loc[text_empty].index

The results will be the rows which are empty & it's index number.

Programmatically relaunch/recreate an activity?

If this is your problem, you should probably implement another way to do the view filling in your Activity. Instead of re running onCreate() you should make it so onCreate() calls your filling method with some argument. When the data changes, the filling method should get called with another argument.

How to define a circle shape in an Android XML drawable file?

Set this as your view background

<shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:shape="oval">
    <stroke
        android:width="1dp"
        android:color="#78d9ff"/>
</shape>

enter image description here

For solid circle use:

<shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:shape="oval">
    <solid
        android:color="#48b3ff"/>
</shape>

enter image description here

Solid with stroke:

<shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    android:shape="oval">
    <solid android:color="#199fff"/>
    <stroke
        android:width="2dp"
        android:color="#444444"/>
</shape>

enter image description here

Note: To make the oval shape appear as a circle, in these examples, either your view that you are using this shape as its background should be a square or you have to set the height and width properties of the shape tag to an equal value.

PHP passing $_GET in linux command prompt

From this answer on ServerFault:

Use the php-cgi binary instead of just php, and pass the arguments on the command line, like this:

php-cgi -f index.php left=1058 right=1067 class=A language=English

Which puts this in $_GET:

Array
(
    [left] => 1058
    [right] => 1067
    [class] => A
    [language] => English
)

You can also set environment variables that would be set by the web server, like this:

REQUEST_URI='/index.php' SCRIPT_NAME='/index.php' php-cgi -f index.php left=1058 right=1067 class=A language=English

How to run a stored procedure in oracle sql developer?

Consider you've created a procedure like below.

CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE GET_FULL_NAME like
(
  FIRST_NAME IN VARCHAR2,
  LAST_NAME IN VARCHAR2,
  FULL_NAME OUT VARCHAR2
) IS
BEGIN
  FULL_NAME:= FIRST_NAME || ' ' || LAST_NAME;
END GET_FULL_NAME;

In Oracle SQL Developer, you can run this procedure in two ways.

1. Using SQL Worksheet

Create a SQL Worksheet and write PL/SQL anonymous block like this and hit f5

DECLARE
  FULL_NAME Varchar2(50);
BEGIN
  GET_FULL_NAME('Foo', 'Bar', FULL_NAME);
  Dbms_Output.Put_Line('Full name is: ' || FULL_NAME);
END;

2. Using GUI Controls

  • Expand Procedures

  • Right click on the procudure you've created and Click Run

  • In the pop-up window, Fill the parameters and Click OK.

Cheers!

Calculating the area under a curve given a set of coordinates, without knowing the function

You can use Simpsons rule or the Trapezium rule to calculate the area under a graph given a table of y-values at a regular interval.

Python script that calculates Simpsons rule:

def integrate(y_vals, h):
    i = 1
    total = y_vals[0] + y_vals[-1]
    for y in y_vals[1:-1]:
        if i % 2 == 0:
            total += 2 * y
        else:
            total += 4 * y
        i += 1
    return total * (h / 3.0)

h is the offset (or gap) between y values, and y_vals is an array of well, y values.

Example (In same file as above function):

y_values = [13, 45.3, 12, 1, 476, 0]
interval = 1.2
area = integrate(y_values, interval)
print("The area is", area)

How do I make an html link look like a button?

How about using asp:LinkButton?

You can do that - I made a linkbutton look like a standard button, using TStamper's entry. Underlining showed under the text when I hovered, though, in spite of the text-decoration: none setting.

I was able to stop the hover-underlining by adding style="text-decoration: none" within the linkbutton:

<asp:LinkButton
id="btnUpdate"
CssClass="btnStyleTStamper"
style="text-decoration: none"
Text="Update Items"
Onclick="UpdateGrid"
runat="server"
/>

Populating a ComboBox using C#

What you could do is create a new class, similar to @Gregoire's example, however, you would want to override the ToString() method so it appears correctly in the combo box e.g.

public class Language
{
    private string _name;
    private string _code;

    public Language(string name, string code)
    {
        _name = name;
        _code = code;
    }

    public string Name { get { return _name; }  }
    public string Code { get { return _code; } }
    public override void ToString()
    {
        return _name;
    }
}

Convert a list to a dictionary in Python

Select distinct values from a list using LINQ in C#

I was curious about which method would be faster:

  1. Using Distinct with a custom IEqualityComparer or
  2. Using the GroupBy method described by Cuong Le.

I found that depending on the size of the input data and the number of groups, the Distinct method can be a lot more performant. (as the number of groups tends towards the number of elements in the list, distinct runs faster).

Code runs in LinqPad!

    void Main()
    {
        List<C> cs = new List<C>();
        foreach(var i in Enumerable.Range(0,Int16.MaxValue*1000))
        {
            int modValue = Int16.MaxValue; //vary this value to see how the size of groups changes performance characteristics. Try 1, 5, 10, and very large numbers
            int j = i%modValue;
            cs.Add(new C{I = i, J = j});
        }
        cs.Count ().Dump("Size of input array");

        TestGrouping(cs);
        TestDistinct(cs);
    }

    public void TestGrouping(List<C> cs)
    {
        Stopwatch sw = Stopwatch.StartNew();
        sw.Restart();
        var groupedCount  = cs.GroupBy (o => o.J).Select(s => s.First()).Count();
        groupedCount.Dump("num groups");
        sw.ElapsedMilliseconds.Dump("elapsed time for using grouping");
    }

    public void TestDistinct(List<C> cs)
    {
        Stopwatch sw = Stopwatch.StartNew();
        var distinctCount = cs.Distinct(new CComparerOnJ()).Count ();
        distinctCount.Dump("num distinct");
        sw.ElapsedMilliseconds.Dump("elapsed time for using distinct");
    }

    public class C
    {
        public int I {get; set;}
        public int J {get; set;}
    }

    public class CComparerOnJ : IEqualityComparer<C>
    {
        public bool Equals(C x, C y)
        {
            return x.J.Equals(y.J);
        }

        public int GetHashCode(C obj)
        {
            return obj.J.GetHashCode();
        }
    }

You can simply use JavaScripts join() function for that. This would simply look like a.value.join(','). The output would be a string though.

Difference between abstract class and interface in Python

Python >= 2.6 has Abstract Base Classes.

Abstract Base Classes (abbreviated ABCs) complement duck-typing by providing a way to define interfaces when other techniques like hasattr() would be clumsy. Python comes with many builtin ABCs for data structures (in the collections module), numbers (in the numbers module), and streams (in the io module). You can create your own ABC with the abc module.

There is also the Zope Interface module, which is used by projects outside of zope, like twisted. I'm not really familiar with it, but there's a wiki page here that might help.

In general, you don't need the concept of abstract classes, or interfaces in python (edited - see S.Lott's answer for details).

How to catch a unique constraint error in a PL/SQL block?

I'm sure you have your reasons, but just in case... you should also consider using a "merge" query instead:

begin
    merge into some_table st
    using (select 'some' name, 'values' value from dual) v
    on (st.name=v.name)
    when matched then update set st.value=v.value
    when not matched then insert (name, value) values (v.name, v.value);
end;

(modified the above to be in the begin/end block; obviously you can run it independantly of the procedure too).

Make anchor link go some pixels above where it's linked to

    position: relative;
    width: 0;
    height: 100px;
    margin-top: -100px;
}

HTML

<a href="#anchor">Click me!</a>
<div style="pointer-events:none;">
<p id="anchor" class="anchored">I should be 100px below where I currently am!</p>
</div>

How do I accomplish an if/else in mustache.js?

You can define a helper in the view. However, the conditional logic is somewhat limited. Moxy-Stencil (https://github.com/dcmox/moxyscript-stencil) seems to address this with "parameterized" helpers, eg:

{{isActive param}}

and in the view:

view.isActive = function (path: string){ return path === this.path ? "class='active'" : '' }

Cannot set property 'display' of undefined

document.getElementsByClassName('btn-pageMenu') delivers a nodeList. You should use: document.getElementsByClassName('btn-pageMenu')[0].style.display (if it's the first element from that list you want to change.

If you want to change style.display for all nodes loop through the list:

var elems = document.getElementsByClassName('btn-pageMenu');
for (var i=0;i<elems.length;i+=1){
  elems[i].style.display = 'block';
}

to be complete: if you use jquery it is as simple as:

?$('.btn-pageMenu').css('display'???????????????????????????,'block');??????

Representing Directory & File Structure in Markdown Syntax

I scripted this for my Dropbox file list.

sed is used for removing full paths of symlinked file/folder path coming after ->

Unfortunately, tabs are lost. Using zsh I am able to preserve tabs.

echo -e '```\n' ${DATA} '\n```' > $F1  # Markdown needs triple back ticks for <pre>

# With the power of piping, creating HTML tree than pipe it
# to html2markdown program, creates cool markdown file with hyperlinks.

DATA=`tree --dirsfirst -t -Rl --noreport -H http://guneysu.pancakeapps.com`

for or while loop to do something n times

The fundamental difference in most programming languages is that unless the unexpected happens a for loop will always repeat n times or until a break statement, (which may be conditional), is met then finish with a while loop it may repeat 0 times, 1, more or even forever, depending on a given condition which must be true at the start of each loop for it to execute and always false on exiting the loop, (for completeness a do ... while loop, (or repeat until), for languages that have it, always executes at least once and does not guarantee the condition on the first execution).

It is worth noting that in Python a for or while statement can have break, continue and else statements where:

  • break - terminates the loop
  • continue - moves on to the next time around the loop without executing following code this time around
  • else - is executed if the loop completed without any break statements being executed.

N.B. In the now unsupported Python 2 range produced a list of integers but you could use xrange to use an iterator. In Python 3 range returns an iterator.

So the answer to your question is 'it all depends on what you are trying to do'!

How do you see recent SVN log entries?

But svn log is still in reverse order, i.e. most recent entries are output first, scrolling off the top of my terminal and gone. I really want to see the last entries, i.e. the sorting order must be chronological. The only command that does this seems to be svn log -r 1:HEAD but that takes much too long on a repository with some 10000 entries. I've come up this this:

Display the last 10 subversion entries in chronological order:

svn log -r $(svn log -l 10 | grep '^r[0-9]* ' | tail -1 | cut -f1 -d" "):HEAD

How to include external Python code to use in other files?

You will need to import the other file as a module like this:

import Math

If you don't want to prefix your Calculate function with the module name then do this:

from Math import Calculate

If you want to import all members of a module then do this:

from Math import *

var controllers = {};

var controllers_path = process.cwd() + '/controllers'

fs.readdirSync(controllers_path).forEach(function (file) {
    if (file.indexOf('.js') != -1) {
        controllers[file.split('.')[0]] = require(controllers_path + '/' + file)
    }
});

console.log("Controllers loaded..............[ok]");

... and ...

router.get('/ping', controllers.ping.pinging);

in your controllers forlder you will have the file "ping.js" with this code:

exports.pinging = function(req, res, next){
    console.log("ping ...");
}

And this is it....

Entity Framework 6 GUID as primary key: Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'Id', table 'FileStore'; column does not allow nulls

You can set the default value of your Id in your db to newsequentialid() or newid(). Then the identity configuration of EF should work.

where is gacutil.exe?

gacutil comes with Visual Studio, not with VSTS. It is part of Windows SDK and can be download separately at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=F26B1AA4-741A-433A-9BE5-FA919850BDBF&displaylang=en . This installation will have gacutil.exe included. But first check it here

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\bin

you might have it installed.

As @devi mentioned

If you decide to grab gacutil files from existing installation, note that from .NET 4.0 is three files: gacutil.exe gacutil.exe.config and 1033/gacutlrc.dll

How to update Pandas from Anaconda and is it possible to use eclipse with this last

The answer above did not work for me (python 3.6, Anaconda, pandas 0.20.3). It worked with

conda install -c anaconda pandas

Unfortunately I do not know how to help with Eclipse.

How to close IPython Notebook properly?

Option 1

Open a different console and run

jupyter notebook stop [PORT]

The default [PORT] is 8888, so, assuming that Jupyter Notebooks is running on port 8888, just run

jupyter notebook stop

If it is on port 9000, then

jupyter notebook stop 9000

Option 2 (Source)

  1. Check runtime folder location

    jupyter --paths

  2. Remove all files in the runtime folder

    rm -r [RUNTIME FOLDER PATH]/*

  3. Use top to find any Jupyter Notebook running processes left and if so kill their PID.

    top | grep jupyter &
    kill [PID]

One can boilt it down to

TARGET_PORT=8888
kill -9 $(lsof -n -i4TCP:$TARGET_PORT | cut -f 2 -d " ")

Note: If one wants to launch one's Notebook on a specific IP/Port

jupyter notebook --ip=[ADD_IP] --port=[ADD_PORT] --allow-root &

How to configure WAMP (localhost) to send email using Gmail?

As an alternative to PHPMailer, Pear's Mail and others you could use the Zend's library

  $config = array('auth' => 'login',
                   'ssl' => 'ssl',
                   'port'=> 465,
                   'username' => '[email protected]',
                   'password' => 'XXXXXXX');

 $transport = new Zend_Mail_Transport_Smtp('smtp.gmail.com', $config);
 $mail = new Zend_Mail();
 $mail->setBodyText('This is the text of the mail.');
 $mail->setFrom('[email protected]', 'Some Sender');
 $mail->addTo('[email protected]', 'Some Recipient');
 $mail->setSubject('TestSubj');
 $mail->send($transport);

That is my set up in localhost server and I can able to see incoming mail to my mail box.

Do something if screen width is less than 960 px

I would suggest (jQuery needed) :

/*
 * windowSize
 * call this function to get windowSize any time
 */
function windowSize() {
  windowHeight = window.innerHeight ? window.innerHeight : $(window).height();
  windowWidth = window.innerWidth ? window.innerWidth : $(window).width();

}

//Init Function of init it wherever you like...
windowSize();

// For example, get window size on window resize
$(window).resize(function() {
  windowSize();
  console.log('width is :', windowWidth, 'Height is :', windowHeight);
  if (windowWidth < 768) {
    console.log('width is under 768px !');
  }
});

Added in CodePen : http://codepen.io/moabi/pen/QNRqpY?editors=0011

Then you can get easily window's width with the var : windowWidth and Height with : windowHeight

otherwise, get a js library : http://wicky.nillia.ms/enquire.js/

How do you easily create empty matrices javascript?

_x000D_
_x000D_
// initializing depending on i,j:_x000D_
var M=Array.from({length:9}, (_,i) => Array.from({length:9}, (_,j) => i+'x'+j))_x000D_
_x000D_
// Print it:_x000D_
_x000D_
console.table(M)_x000D_
// M.forEach(r => console.log(r))_x000D_
document.body.innerHTML = `<pre>${M.map(r => r.join('\t')).join('\n')}</pre>`_x000D_
// JSON.stringify(M, null, 2) // bad for matrices
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

Beware that doing this below, is wrong:

// var M=Array(9).fill([]) // since arrays are sparse
// or Array(9).fill(Array(9).fill(0))// initialization

// M[4][4] = 1
// M[3][4] is now 1 too!

Because it creates the same reference of Array 9 times, so modifying an item modifies also items at the same index of other rows (since it's the same reference), so you need an additional call to .slice or .map on the rows to copy them (cf torazaburo's answer which fell in this trap)

note: It may look like this in the future, with slice-notation-literal proposal (stage 1)

const M = [...1:10].map(i => [...1:10].map(j => i+'x'+j))

<strong> vs. font-weight:bold & <em> vs. font-style:italic

HTML represents meaning; CSS represents appearance. How you mark up text in a document is not determined by how that text appears on screen, but simply what it means. As another example, some other HTML elements, like headings, are styled font-weight: bold by default, but they are marked up using <h1><h6>, not <strong> or <b>.

In HTML5, you use <strong> to indicate important parts of a sentence, for example:

<p><strong>Do not touch.</strong> Contains <strong>hazardous</strong> materials.

And you use <em> to indicate linguistic stress, for example:

<p>A Gentleman: I suppose he does. But there's no point in asking.
<p>A Lady: Why not?
<p>A Gentleman: Because he doesn't row.
<p>A Lady: He doesn't <em>row</em>?
<p>A Gentleman: No. He <em>doesn't</em> row.
<p>A Lady: Ah. I see what you mean.

These elements are semantic elements that just happen to have bold and italic representations by default, but you can style them however you like. For example, in the <em> sample above, you could represent stress emphasis in uppercase instead of italics, but the functional purpose of the <em> element remains the same — to change the context of a sentence by emphasizing specific words or phrases over others:

em {
    font-style: normal;
    text-transform: uppercase;
}

Note that the original answer (below) applied to HTML standards prior to HTML5, in which <strong> and <em> had somewhat different meanings, <b> and <i> were purely presentational and had no semantic meaning whatsoever. Like <strong> and <em> respectively, they have similar presentational defaults but may be styled differently.

You use <strong> and <em> to indicate intense emphasis and normal emphasis respectively.

Or think of it this way: font-weight: bold is closer to <b> than <strong>, and font-style: italic is closer to <i> than <em>. These visual styles are purely visual: tools like screen readers aren't going to understand what bold and italic mean, but some screen readers are able to read <strong> and <em> text in a more emphasized tone.

How to create and show common dialog (Error, Warning, Confirmation) in JavaFX 2.0?

Sergey is correct, but if you need to get a response from your home-spun dialog(s) for evaluation in the same block of code that invoked it, you should use .showAndWait(), not .show(). Here's my rendition of a couple of the dialog types that are provided in Swing's OptionPane:

public class FXOptionPane {

public enum Response { NO, YES, CANCEL };

private static Response buttonSelected = Response.CANCEL;

private static ImageView icon = new ImageView();

static class Dialog extends Stage {
    public Dialog( String title, Stage owner, Scene scene, String iconFile ) {
        setTitle( title );
        initStyle( StageStyle.UTILITY );
        initModality( Modality.APPLICATION_MODAL );
        initOwner( owner );
        setResizable( false );
        setScene( scene );
        icon.setImage( new Image( getClass().getResourceAsStream( iconFile ) ) );
    }
    public void showDialog() {
        sizeToScene();
        centerOnScreen();
        showAndWait();
    }
}

static class Message extends Text {
    public Message( String msg ) {
        super( msg );
        setWrappingWidth( 250 );
    }
}

public static Response showConfirmDialog( Stage owner, String message, String title ) {
    VBox vb = new VBox();
    Scene scene = new Scene( vb );
    final Dialog dial = new Dialog( title, owner, scene, "res/Confirm.png" );
    vb.setPadding( new Inset(10,10,10,10) );
    vb.setSpacing( 10 );
    Button yesButton = new Button( "Yes" );
    yesButton.setOnAction( new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
        @Override public void handle( ActionEvent e ) {
            dial.close();
            buttonSelected = Response.YES;
        }
    } );
    Button noButton = new Button( "No" );
    noButton.setOnAction( new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
        @Override public void handle( ActionEvent e ) {
            dial.close();
            buttonSelected = Response.NO;
        }
    } );
    BorderPane bp = new BorderPane();
    HBox buttons = new HBox();
    buttons.setAlignment( Pos.CENTER );
    buttons.setSpacing( 10 );
    buttons.getChildren().addAll( yesButton, noButton );
    bp.setCenter( buttons );
    HBox msg = new HBox();
    msg.setSpacing( 5 );
    msg.getChildren().addAll( icon, new Message( message ) );
    vb.getChildren().addAll( msg, bp );
    dial.showDialog();
    return buttonSelected;
}

public static void showMessageDialog( Stage owner, String message, String title ) {
    showMessageDialog( owner, new Message( message ), title );
}
public static void showMessageDialog( Stage owner, Node message, String title ) {
    VBox vb = new VBox();
    Scene scene = new Scene( vb );
    final Dialog dial = new Dialog( title, owner, scene, "res/Info.png" );
    vb.setPadding( new Inset(10,10,10,10) );
    vb.setSpacing( 10 );
    Button okButton = new Button( "OK" );
    okButton.setAlignment( Pos.CENTER );
    okButton.setOnAction( new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
        @Override public void handle( ActionEvent e ) {
            dial.close();
        }
    } );
    BorderPane bp = new BorderPane();
    bp.setCenter( okButton );
    HBox msg = new HBox();
    msg.setSpacing( 5 );
    msg.getChildren().addAll( icon, message );
    vb.getChildren().addAll( msg, bp );
    dial.showDialog();
}

HTML form with side by side input fields

For the sake of bandwidth saving, we shouldn't include <div> for each of <label> and <input> pair

This solution may serve you better and may increase readability

<div class="form">
            <label for="product_name">Name</label>
            <input id="product_name" name="product[name]" size="30" type="text" value="4">
            <label for="product_stock">Stock</label>
            <input id="product_stock" name="product[stock]" size="30" type="text" value="-1">
            <label for="price_amount">Amount</label>
            <input id="price_amount" name="price[amount]" size="30" type="text" value="6.0">
</div>

The css for above form would be

.form > label
{
  float: left;
  clear: right;
}

.form > input
{
  float: right;
}

I believe the output would be as following:

Windows command to convert Unix line endings?

I cloned my git project using the git bash on windows. All the files then had LF endings. Our repository has CRLF endings as default.

I deleted the project, and then cloned it again using the Windows Command Prompt. The CRLF endings were intact then. In my case, if I had changed the endings for the project, then it would've resulted in a huge commit and would've caused trouble for my teammates. So, did it this way. Hope this helps somebody.
