If you don't need to do it programmatically, Try JSON Lint. Not only will it prettify your JSON, it will validate it at the same time.

Is it possible to hide/encode/encrypt php source code and let others have the system?

There are commercial products such as ionCube (which I use), source guardian, and Zen Guard.

There are also postings on the net which claim they can reverse engineer the encoded programs. How reliable they are is questionable, since I have never used them.

Note that most of these solutions require an encoder to be installed on their servers. So you may want to make sure your client is comfortable with that.

Get current cursor position

How to concatenate multiple lines of output to one line?

I like the xargs solution, but if it's important to not collapse spaces, then one might instead do:

sed ':b;$!{N;bb};s/\n/ /g'

That will replace newlines for spaces, without substituting the last line terminator like tr '\n' ' ' would.

This also allows you to use other joining strings besides a space, like a comma, etc, something that xargs cannot do:

$ seq 1 5 | sed ':b;$!{N;bb};s/\n/,/g'
1,2,3,4,5

Why do I get an error instantiating an interface?

The error message seems self-explanatory. You can't instantiate an instance of an interface, and you've declared IUser as an interface. (The same rule applies to abstract classes.) The whole point of an interface is that it doesn't do anything—there is no implementation provided for its methods.

However, you can instantiate an instance of a class that implements that interface (provides an implementation for its methods), which in your case is the User class.

Thus, your code needs to look like this:

IUser user = new User();

This instantiates an instance of the User class (which provides the implementation), and assigns it to an object variable for the interface type (IUser, which provides the interface, the way in which you as the programmer can interact with the object).

Of course, you could also write:

User user = new User();

which creates an instance of the User class and assigns it to an object variable of the same type, but that sort of defeats the purpose of a defining a separate interface in the first place.

It sounds like your workbook got set to Manual Calculation. You can change this to Automatic by going to Formulas > Calculation > Calculation Options > Automatic.

Recent enhancements by NVIDIA have produced a much more robust way to do this.

Essentially they have found a way to avoid the need to install the CUDA/GPU driver inside the containers and have it match the host kernel module.

Instead, drivers are on the host and the containers don't need them. It requires a modified docker-cli right now.

This is great, because now containers are much more portable.

Pros/cons of using redux-saga with ES6 generators vs redux-thunk with ES2017 async/await

One quick note. Generators are cancellable, async/await — not. So for an example from the question, it does not really make sense of what to pick. But for more complicated flows sometimes there is no better solution than using generators.

So, another idea could be is to use generators with redux-thunk, but for me, it seems like trying to invent a bicycle with square wheels.

And of course, generators are easier to test.

Uncaught TypeError: .indexOf is not a function

I was getting e.data.indexOf is not a function error, after debugging it, I found that it was actually a TypeError, which meant, indexOf() being a function is applicable to strings, so I typecasted the data like the following and then used the indexOf() method to make it work

Not sure if my answer was accurate to the question, but yes shared my opinion as i faced a similar kind of situation.

This is an interesting question and since it isn't explained very explicitly in the documentation I'll answer this by going through the sourcecode of mod_rewrite; demonstrating a big benefit of open-source.

In the top section you'll quickly spot the defines used to name these flags:

You can use the SYS_GUID() function to generate a GUID in your insert statement:

Insert all data of a datagridview to database at once

I think the best way is by using TableAdapters rather than using Commands objects, its Update method sends all changes mades (Updates,Inserts and Deletes) inside a Dataset or DataTable straight TO the database. Usually when using a DataGridView you bind to a BindingSource which lets you interact with a DataSource such as Datatables or Datasets.

If you work like this, then on your bounded DataGridView you can just do:

The 'customersBindingSource' is the DataSource of the DataGridView.

The adapter's Update method will update a single data table and execute the correct command (INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE) based on the RowState of each data row in the table.

Starting with C#6 you can use null propagation: myList?.Any() == true

If you still find this too cloggy or prefer a good ol' extension method, I would recommend Matt Greer and Marc Gravell's answers, yet with a bit of extended functionality for completeness.

Their answers provide the same basic functionality, but each from another perspective. Matt's answer uses the string.IsNullOrEmpty-mentality, whereas Marc's answer takes Linq's .Any() road to get the job done.

I am personally inclined to use the .Any() road, but would like to add the condition checking functionality from the method's other overload:

Git stash pop- needs merge, unable to refresh index

First, check git status.
As the OP mentions,

The actual issue was an unresolved merge conflict from the merge, NOT that the stash would cause a merge conflict.

That is where git status would mention that file as being "both modified"

Resolution: Commit the conflicted file.

40 methods in a single class is a bit much.

Would it make sense to move some of the functionality into other - suitably named - classes. Then it is much easier to make sense of.

When you have fewer, it is much easier to list them in a natural reading order. A frequent paradigm is to list things either before or after you need them , in the order you need them.

This usually means that main() goes on top or on bottom.

To check for assignability, you can use the Type.IsAssignableFrom method:

This will work as you expect for type-equality, inheritance-relationships and interface-implementations but not when you are looking for 'assignability' across explicit / implicit conversion operators.

To check for strict inheritance, you can use Type.IsSubclassOf:

Things to keep in mind. FragmentManager is not a singleton, it manages only Fragments within Activity, so in every activity it will be new. Also, this solution so far doesn't take ViewPager into account that calls setUserVisibleHint() method helping to control visiblity of Fragments.

Feel free to use following classes when dealing with this issue (uses Dagger2 injection). Call in Activity:

I ran into this issue as well and found this post. Ultimately none of these answers solved my problem, instead I had to put in a rewrite rule to strip out the location /rt as the backend my developers made was not expecting any additional paths:

Testing with wscat repeatedly gave a 502 response. Nginx error logs provided the same upstream error as above, but notice the upstream string shows the GET Request is attempting to access localhost:12775/rt and not localhost:12775:

Because of this, rather than ask them to rewrite their socket code I just put in a rewrite rule to translate WebsocketServerHostname/rt to WebsocketServerHostname:12775 as below:

Accepted answer works like a charm but if the object has a list of objects it won't work as expected so here is my solution after some digging.

Following this thread advice, here is how I've done.

  • Frontend: stringify your object than encode it in base64 for submission.
  • Backend: decode base64 string then convert the string json into desired object.

It isn't the best for debugging your API with postman but it is working as expected for me.

I created a sort of super global in my website. Since I have several js files that are loaded on every page load and dozens of other js files that are only loaded on some pages I put all of the "global" function into a single global variable.

At the top of my first included "global" files is the declaration

What's the best strategy for unit-testing database-driven applications?

I'm using the first approach but a bit different that allows to address the problems you mentioned.

Everything that is needed to run tests for DAOs is in source control. It includes schema and scripts to create the DB (docker is very good for this). If the embedded DB can be used - I use it for speed.

The important difference with the other described approaches is that the data that is required for test is not loaded from SQL scripts or XML files. Everything (except some dictionary data that is effectively constant) is created by application using utility functions/classes.

The main purpose is to make data used by test

  1. very close to the test
  2. explicit (using SQL files for data make it very problematic to see what piece of data is used by what test)
  3. isolate tests from the unrelated changes.

It basically means that these utilities allow to declaratively specify only things essential for the test in test itself and omit irrelevant things.

To give some idea of what it means in practice, consider the test for some DAO which works with Comments to Posts written by Authors. In order to test CRUD operations for such DAO some data should be created in the DB. The test would look like:

This has several advantages over SQL scripts or XML files with test data:

  1. Maintaining the code is much easier (adding a mandatory column for example in some entity that is referenced in many tests, like Author, does not require to change lots of files/records but only a change in builder and/or factory)
  2. The data required by specific test is described in the test itself and not in some other file. This proximity is very important for test comprehensibility.

Rollback vs Commit

I find it more convenient that tests do commit when they are executed. Firstly, some effects (for example DEFERRED CONSTRAINTS) cannot be checked if commit never happens. Secondly, when a test fails the data can be examined in the DB as it is not reverted by the rollback.

Of cause this has a downside that test may produce a broken data and this will lead to the failures in other tests. To deal with this I try to isolate the tests. In the example above every test may create new Author and all other entities are created related to it so collisions are rare. To deal with the remaining invariants that can be potentially broken but cannot be expressed as a DB level constraint I use some programmatic checks for erroneous conditions that may be run after every single test (and they are run in CI but usually switched off locally for performance reasons).

Capturing standard out and error with Start-Process

To get both stdout and stderr, I use:

Then you must select the Microsoft Vendor and the driver WAN Miniport the type that is changing, IP or IPV6 L2TP Network Monitor. After upgrading restart the computer.

I know it's a bit laborious but that was the only way that worked on all computers.

Postgresql: Scripting psql execution with password

Given the security concerns about using the PGPASSWORD environment variable, I think the best overall solution is as follows:

  1. Write your own temporary pgpass file with the password you want to use.
  2. Use the PGPASSFILE environment variable to tell psql to use that file.
  3. Remove the temporary pgpass file

There are a couple points of note here. Step 1 is there to avoid mucking with the user's ~/.pgpass file that might exist. You also must make sure that the file has permissions 0600 or less.

Some have suggested leveraging bash to shortcut this as follows:

PGPASSFILE=<(echo myserver:5432:mydb:jdoe:password) psql -h myserver -U jdoe -p 5432 mydb

This uses the <() syntax to avoid needing to write the data to an actual file. But it doesn't work because psql checks what file is being used and will throw an error like this:

Since version 1.3.0 AngularJS introduced extra filter parameter timezone, like following:

But in versions 1.3.x only supported timezone is UTC, which can be used as following:

Since version 1.4.0-rc.0 AngularJS supports other timezones too. I was not testing all possible timezones, but here's for example how you can get date in Japan Standard Time (JSP, GMT +9):

Function to convert column number to letter?

The solution from brettdj works fantastically, but if you are coming across this as a potential solution for the same reason I was, I thought that I would offer my alternative solution.

The problem I was having was scrolling to a specific column based on the output of a MATCH() function. Instead of converting the column number to its column letter parallel, I chose to temporarily toggle the reference style from A1 to R1C1. This way I could just scroll to the column number without having to muck with a VBA function. To easily toggle between the two reference styles, you can use this VBA code:

In light of apparent dislike for how I've attempted to answer the OP's question. The literal answer is, a promise is something shared w/ other objects, while a deferred should be kept private. Primarily, a deferred (which generally extends Promise) can resolve itself, while a promise might not be able to do so.

So far as I'm aware, the overarching purpose is to improve clarity and loosen coupling through a standardized interface. See suggested reading from @jfriend00:

Rather than directly passing callbacks to functions, something which can lead to tightly coupled interfaces, using promises allows one to separate concerns for code that is synchronous or asynchronous.

Personally, I've found deferred especially useful when dealing with e.g. templates that are populated by asynchronous requests, loading scripts that have networks of dependencies, and providing user feedback to form data in a non-blocking manner.

Indeed, compare the pure callback form of doing something after loading CodeMirror in JS mode asynchronously (apologies, I've not used jQuery in a while):

One thing I didn't see here though is : if your FK is pointing on a PK, ensure the source column has a value that makes sense. Your schemaLocation attribute on the root element should be xsi:schemaLocation, and you need to fix it to use the right namespace.

And for completeness (primarily educational), it is possible without using the len() function. I would not condone this as a good option DO NOT PROGRAM LIKE THIS IN PYTHON, but it serves a purpose for learning algorithms.

The lesson here for new programmers is: You can’t get the number of items in a list without counting them at some point. The question becomes: when is a good time to count them? For example, high-performance code like the connect system call for sockets (written in C) connect(int sockfd, const struct sockaddr *addr, socklen_t addrlen);, does not calculate the length of elements (giving that responsibility to the calling code). Notice that the length of the address is passed along to save the step of counting the length first? Another option: computationally, it might make sense to keep track of the number of items as you add them within the object that you pass. Mind that this takes up more space in memory. See Naftuli Kay‘s answer.

What does it mean when the size of a VARCHAR2 in Oracle is declared as 1 byte?

The VARCHAR datatype is synonymous with the VARCHAR2 datatype. To avoid possible changes in behavior, always use the VARCHAR2 datatype to store variable-length character strings.

If your database runs on a single-byte character set (e.g. US7ASCII, WE8MSWIN1252 or WE8ISO8859P1) it does not make any difference whether you use VARCHAR2(x BYTE) or VARCHAR2(x CHAR).

It makes only a difference when your DB runs on multi-byte character set (e.g. AL32UTF8 or AL16UTF16). You can simply see it in this example:

VARCHAR2(1 CHAR) means you can store up to 1 character, no matter how many byte it has. In case of Unicode one character may occupy up to 4 bytes.

VARCHAR2(1 BYTE) means you can store a character which occupies max. 1 byte.

If you don't specify either BYTE or CHAR then the default is taken from NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS session parameter.

Unless you have Oracle 12c where you can set MAX_STRING_SIZE=EXTENDED the limit is VARCHAR2(4000 CHAR)

However, VARCHAR2(4000 CHAR) does not mean you are guaranteed to store up to 4000 characters. The limit is still 4000 bytes, so in worst case you may store only up to 1000 characters in such field.

What exactly is Apache Camel?

My take to describe this in a more accessible way...

In order to understand what Apache Camel is, you need to understand what Enterprise Integration Patterns are.

Let's start with what we presumably already know: The Singleton pattern, the Factory pattern, etc; They are merely ways of organizing your solution to the problem, but they are not solutions themselves. These patterns were analyzed and extracted for the rest of us by the Gang of Four, when they published their book: Design Patterns. They saved some of us tremendous effort in thinking of how to best structure our code.

Much like the Gang of Four, Gregor Hohpe and Bobby Woolf authored the book Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP) in which they propose and document a set of new patterns and blueprints for how we could best design large component-based systems, where components can be running on the same process or in a different machine.

They basically propose that we structure our system to be message oriented -- where components communicate with each others using messages as inputs and outputs and absolutely nothing else. They show us a complete set of patterns that we may choose from and implement in our different components that will together form the whole system.

So what is Apache Camel?

Apache Camel offers you the interfaces for the EIPs, the base objects, commonly needed implementations, debugging tools, a configuration system, and many other helpers which will save you a ton of time when you want to implement your solution to follow the EIPs.

Take MVC. MVC is pretty simple in theory and we could implement it without any framework help. But good MVC frameworks provide us with the structure ready-to-use and have gone the extra mile and thought out all the other "side" things you need when you create a large MVC project and that's why we use them most of the time.

That's exactly what Apache Camel is for EIPs. It's a complete production-ready framework for people who want to implement their solution to follow the EIPs.

Configure active profile in SpringBoot via Maven

The Maven profile and the Spring profile are two completely different things. Your pom.xml defines spring.profiles.active variable which is available in the build process, but not at runtime. That is why only the default profile is activated.

How to bind Maven profile with Spring?

You need to pass the build variable to your application so that it is available when it is started.

  1. Define a placeholder in your application.properties:

I had a very similar issue and I'm not quite sure what you're having a problem with, as your suggested code worked great for me. It immediately (a requirement of yours) triggers the following change code.

When packing signed bytes into an int, each byte needs to be masked off because it is sign-extended to 32 bits (rather than zero-extended) due to the arithmetic promotion rule (described in JLS, Conversions and Promotions).

There's an interesting puzzle related to this described in Java Puzzlers ("A Big Delight in Every Byte") by Joshua Bloch and Neal Gafter . When comparing a byte value to an int value, the byte is sign-extended to an int and then this value is compared to the other int

<SELECT multiple> - how to allow only one item selected?

Why don't you want to remove the multiple attribute? The entire purpose of that attribute is to specify to the browser that multiple values may be selected from the given select element. If only a single value should be selected, remove the attribute and the browser will know to allow only a single selection.

Use the tools you have, that's what they're for.

Sort a list by multiple attributes?

Here's one way: You basically re-write your sort function to take a list of sort functions, each sort function compares the attributes you want to test, on each sort test, you look and see if the cmp function returns a non-zero return if so break and send the return value. You call it by calling a Lambda of a function of a list of Lambdas.

Its advantage is that it does single pass through the data not a sort of a previous sort as other methods do. Another thing is that it sorts in place, whereas sorted seems to make a copy.

I used it to write a rank function, that ranks a list of classes where each object is in a group and has a score function, but you can add any list of attributes. Note the un-lambda-like, though hackish use of a lambda to call a setter. The rank part won't work for an array of lists, but the sort will.

Use two dimensional array instead. For instance, int values[][] = new int[2][5]; Arrays are faster, when you are not manipulating much.
