How I fixed it : I removed "=" in the include statements at the top and the bottom and it worked fine.

You can use git hooks for that. Just create a hook that pushes changed to the other repo after an update.

Limit file format when using <input type="file">?

Yes, you are right. It's impossible with HTML. User will be able to pick whatever file he/she wants.

You could write a piece of JavaScript code to avoid submitting a file based on its extension. But keep in mind that this by no means will prevent a malicious user to submit any file he/she really wants to.

Something like:

Another solution I ran across tonight, which worked for my needs, was to add box-sizing attributes:

-webkit-box-sizing: border-box;
-moz-box-sizing: border-box;
box-sizing: border-box;

These attributes force the border to be part of the box model's width and height and correct the issue as well.

According to caniuse.com » box-sizing, box-sizing is supported in IE8+.

If you're using LESS or Sass there is a Bootstrap mixin for this.

You can pass the JVM this param

-Duser.timezone

and this should do the trick. Setting the environment variable TZ also does the trick on Linux.

What causes javac to issue the "uses unchecked or unsafe operations" warning

If you do what it suggests and recompile with the "-Xlint:unchecked" switch, it will give you more detailed information.

As well as the use of raw types (as described by the other answers), an unchecked cast can also cause the warning.

Once you've compiled with -Xlint, you should be able to rework your code to avoid the warning. This is not always possible, particularly if you are integrating with legacy code that cannot be changed. In this situation, you may decide to suppress the warning in places where you know that the code is correct:

Set up a user, a host the user is allowed to talk to MySQL by using (e.g. localhost), grant that user adequate permissions to do what they need with the database .. and presto.

I think the Docker maintainers realized the data-only container pattern was a bit of a design smell and decided to make volumes a separate entity that can exist without an associated container.

Storing Images in PostgreSQL

If your images are small, consider storing them as base64 in a plain text field.

The reason is that while base64 has an overhead of 33%, with compression that mostly goes away. (See What is the space overhead of Base64 encoding?) Your database will be bigger, but the packets your webserver sends to the client won't be. In html, you can inline base64 in an <img src=""> tag, which can possibly simplify your app because you won't have to serve up the images as binary in a separate browser fetch. Handling images as text also simplifies things when you have to send/receive json, which doesn't handle binary very well.

Yes, I understand you could store the binary in the database and convert it to/from text on the way in and out of the database, but sometimes ORMs make that a hassle. It can be simpler just to treat it as straight text just like all your other fields.

This is definitely the right way to handle thumbnails.

(OP's images are not small, so this is not really an answer to his question.)

I didn't have an issue with this until I tried to use the Location Services, at which point I had to put the apply plugin: 'com.google.gms.google-services' at the bottom of the file, rather than the top. Implementing multiple interfaces is very useful and doesn't cause much problems to language implementers nor programmers. So it is allowed. Multiple inheritance while also useful, can cause serious problems to users (dreaded diamond of death). And most things you do with multiple inheritance can be also done by composition or using inner classes. So multiple inheritance is forbidden as bringing more problems than gains.

Please note that there might still be files that won't seem to disappear - they might be unedited, but git might have marked them as being edited because of CRLF / LF changes. See if you've made some changes in .gitattributes recently.

In my case I've added CRLF settings into the .gitattributes file and all the files remained in the "modified files" list because of this. Changing the .gitattributes settings made them disappear.

Given all of the traffic on this question recently. I'm beginning to suspect that either your serial port is not configured properly, or that the device is not responding.

I highly recommend you attempt to communicate with the device using some other means (I use hyperterminal frequently). You can then play around with all of these settings (bitrate, parity, data bits, stop bits, flow control) until you find the set that works. The documentation for the device should also specify these settings. Once I figured those out, I would make sure my .NET SerialPort is configured properly to use those settings.

Some tips on configuring the serial port:

Note that when I said you should use the following constructor, I meant that use that function, not necessarily those parameters! You should fill in the parameters for your device, the settings below are common, but may be different for your device.

ExecutorService.html#invokeAll is one alternative.

Executes the given tasks, returning a list of Futures holding their status and results when all complete. Future.isDone() is true for each element of the returned list.

Relative paths can be best understood if you know how Java runs the program.

There is a concept of working directory when running programs in Java. Assuming you have a class, say, FileHelper that does the IO under /User/home/Desktop/projectRoot/src/topLevelPackage/.

Depending on the case where you invoke java to run the program, you will have different working directory. If you run your program from within and IDE, it will most probably be projectRoot.

  • In this case $ projectRoot/src : java topLevelPackage.FileHelper it will be src.

  • In this case $ projectRoot : java -cp src topLevelPackage.FileHelper it will be projectRoot.

In order to remotely access a PostgreSQL database, you must set the two main PostgreSQL configuration files:

Here is a brief description about how you can set them (note that the following description is purely indicative: To configure a machine safely, you must be familiar with all the parameters and their meanings)

First of all configure PostgreSQL service to listen on port 5432 on all network interfaces in Windows 7 machine:
open the file postgresql.conf (usually located in C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\9.2\data) and sets the parameter

From the Maven docs, sounds like it's just a difference in which repository you install the package into:

  • install - install the package into the local repository, for use as a dependency in other projects locally
  • deploy - done in an integration or release environment, copies the final package to the remote repository for sharing with other developers and projects.

Maybe there is some confusion in that "install" to the CI server installs it to it's local repository, which then you as a user are sharing?

IF a user has "Print Background colours and images" turned off in their print settings, no CSS will override that, so always account for that. This is a default setting.

Once that is set so it will print background colours and images, what you have there will work.

Start by considering 'Do I really want to do this?'

I have no problem referring to enums directly in HTML, but in some cases there are cleaner alternatives that don't lose type-safe-ness. For instance if you choose the approach shown in my other answer, you may have declared TT in your component something like this:

To show a different layout in your HTML, you'd have an *ngIf for each layout type, and you could refer directly to the enum in your component's HTML:

This example uses a service to get the current layout, runs it through the async pipe and then compares it to our enum value. It's pretty verbose, convoluted and not much fun to look at. It also exposes the name of the enum, which itself may be overly verbose.

Alternative, that retains type safety from the HTML

Alternatively you can do the following, and declare a more readable function in your component's .ts file :

Much cleaner! But what if someone types in 'Horziontal' by mistake? The whole reason you wanted to use an enum in the HTML was to be typesafe right?

We can still achieve that with keyof and some typescript magic. This is the definition of the function:

Note the usage of FeatureBoxResponsiveLayout[string] which converts the string value passed in to the numeric value of the enum.

This will give an error message with an AOT compilation if you use an invalid value.

Argument of type '"H4orizontal"' is not assignable to parameter of type '"Vertical" | "Horizontal"

Currently VSCode isn't smart enough to underline H4orizontal in the HTML editor, but you'll get the warning at compile time (with --prod build or --aot switch). This also may be improved upon in a future update.

If you do git reset --hard <SOME-COMMIT> then Git will:

HEAD points to your current branch (or current commit), so all that git reset --hard HEAD will do is to throw away any uncommitted changes you have.

You are using a table variable i.e. you should declare the table. This is not a temporary table.

You create a temp table like so:

Notice that a temp table is declared using # and a table variable is declared using a @. Go read about the difference between table variables and temp tables.

Based on your comment below you are actually trying to create tables in a stored procedure. For this you would need to use dynamic SQL. Basically dynamic SQL allows you to construct a SQL Statement in the form of a string and then execute it. This is the ONLY way you will be able to create a table in a stored procedure. I am going to show you how and then discuss why this is not generally a good idea.

Now for a simple example (I have not tested this code but it should give you a good indication of how to do it):

There are some major problems with this type of stored procedure.

This table is a little more complex than the first example, but not a lot. The stored procedure will be much, much more complex to deal with. So while this approach might work for small tables it is quickly going to be unmanageable.

Creating tables require planning. When you create tables they should be placed strategically on different filegroups. This is to ensure that you don't cause disk I/O contention. How will you address scalability if everything is created on the primary file group?

Could you clarify why you need tables to be created dynamically?

Looking at my assumptions I see a classical many-to-many relationship. A shop can sell many items (goods) and items (goods) can be sold at many shops. Let's break this down into tables.

First I would need a shop table to store all the information about the shop.

So let's assume the American Games R Us shop only sells American consoles, the Europe Gaming Experience sells all consoles and the Asian Games Emporium sells only Asian consoles. We would need to map the primary keys from the shop and product tables into the ShopProduct table.

Here is how we are going to do the mapping. In my example the American Games R Us has a ShopID value of 1 (this is the primary key value) and I can see that the XBOX360 has a value of 3 and the shop has listed the XBOX360 for $159.99

Firstly, within your head tags, you can reference a separate JavaScript file, which is then reusable:

The general answer to getting timestamps from a row, though, is that you can only get that data if you have added columns to track that information (assuming, of course, that your application populates the columns as well). There are various special cases, however. If the DML happened relatively recently (most likely in the last couple hours), you should be able to get the timestamps from a flashback query. If the DML happened in the last few days (or however long you keep your archived logs), you could use LogMiner to extract the timestamps but that is going to be a very expensive operation particularly if you're getting timestamps for many rows. If you build the table with ROWDEPENDENCIES enabled (not the default), you can use

How to log out user from web site using BASIC authentication?

Basic Authentication wasn't designed to manage logging out. You can do it, but not completely automatically.

What you have to do is have the user click a logout link, and send a ‘401 Unauthorized’ in response, using the same realm and at the same URL folder level as the normal 401 you send requesting a login.

They must be directed to input wrong credentials next, eg. a blank username-and-password, and in response you send back a “You have successfully logged out” page. The wrong/blank credentials will then overwrite the previous correct credentials.

In short, the logout script inverts the logic of the login script, only returning the success page if the user isn't passing the right credentials.

The question is whether the somewhat curious “don't enter your password” password box will meet user acceptance. Password managers that try to auto-fill the password can also get in the way here.

Edit to add in response to comment: re-log-in is a slightly different problem (unless you require a two-step logout/login obviously). You have to reject (401) the first attempt to access the relogin link, than accept the second (which presumably has a different username/password). There are a few ways you could do this. One would be to include the current username in the logout link (eg. /relogin?username), and reject when the credentials match the username.

Why do we need C Unions?

In early versions of C, all structure declarations would share a common set of fields. Given:

struct z {int z_mode; char name[20];};

a compiler would essentially produce a table of structures' sizes (and possibly alignments), and a separate table of structures' members' names, types, and offsets. The compiler didn't keep track of which members belonged to which structures, and would allow two structures to have a member with the same name only if the type and offset matched (as with member q of struct x and struct y). If p was a pointer to any structure type, p->q would add the offset of "q" to pointer p and fetch an "int" from the resulting address.

Given the above semantics, it was possible to write a function that could perform some useful operations on multiple kinds of structure interchangeably, provided that all the fields used by the function lined up with useful fields within the structures in question. This was a useful feature, and changing C to validate members used for structure access against the types of the structures in question would have meant losing it in the absence of a means of having a structure that can contain multiple named fields at the same address. Adding "union" types to C helped fill that gap somewhat (though not, IMHO, as well as it should have been).

An essential part of unions' ability to fill that gap was the fact that a pointer to a union member could be converted into a pointer to any union containing that member, and a pointer to any union could be converted to a pointer to any member. While the C89 Standard didn't expressly say that casting a T* directly to a U* was equivalent to casting it to a pointer to any union type containing both T and U, and then casting that to U*, no defined behavior of the latter cast sequence would be affected by the union type used, and the Standard didn't specify any contrary semantics for a direct cast from T to U. Further, in cases where a function received a pointer of unknown origin, the behavior of writing an object via T*, converting the T* to a U*, and then reading the object via U* would be equivalent to writing a union via member of type T and reading as type U, which would be standard-defined in a few cases (e.g. when accessing Common Initial Sequence members) and Implementation-Defined (rather than Undefined) for the rest. While it was rare for programs to exploit the CIS guarantees with actual objects of union type, it was far more common to exploit the fact that pointers to objects of unknown origin had to behave like pointers to union members and have the behavioral guarantees associated therewith.

An important point that the other answers forgot, is that "@keyword" is compiled into "keyword" in the CIL.

So if you have a framework that was made in, say, F#, which requires you to define a class with a property named "class", you can actually do it.

I usually see it used not for interop, but to avoid the keyword restrictions (usually on local variable names, where this is the only effect) ie.

You cannot set inter-paragraph spacing in CSS using line-height, the spacing between <p> blocks. That instead sets the intra-paragraph line spacing, the space between lines within a <p> block. If these are just going to be textblocks (and thus one way binding), and you just want to concatenate values, just bind two textblocks and put them in a horizontal stackpanel.

UIView's frame, bounds, center, origin, when to use what?

Marco's answer above is correct, but just to expand on the question of "under what context"...

frame - this is the property you most often use for normal iPhone applications. most controls will be laid out relative to the "containing" control so the frame.origin will directly correspond to where the control needs to display, and frame.size will determine how big to make the control.

center - this is the property you will likely focus on for sprite based games and animations where movement or scaling may occur. By default animation and rotation will be based on the center of the UIView. It rarely makes sense to try and manage such objects by the frame property.

bounds - this property is not a positioning property, but defines the drawable area of the UIView "relative" to the frame. By default this property is usually (0, 0, width, height). Changing this property will allow you to draw outside of the frame or restrict drawing to a smaller area within the frame. A good discussion of this can be found at the link below. It is uncommon for this property to be manipulated unless there is specific need to adjust the drawing region. The only exception is that most programs will use the [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds] on startup to determine the visible area for the application and setup their initial UIView's frame accordingly.

Comparing two .jar files

Extract each jar to it's own directory using the jar command with parameters xvf. i.e. jar xvf myjar.jar for each jar.

Then, use the UNIX command diff to compare the two directories. This will show the differences in the directories. You can use diff -r dir1 dir2 two recurse and show the differences in text files in each directory(.xml, .properties, etc).

This will also show if binary class files differ. To actually compare the class files you will have to decompile them as noted by others.

A "C-program" is not supposed to be run. It is meant to be compiled into an "executable" program which then can be run from your terminal. You need a compiler for that.

Oh, and the answer to your last question ("Why?") is that the file you are trying to execute doesn't have the executable rights set (which a compiler usually does automatically with the binary, which let's infer that you were trying to run the source code as a script, hence the hint at compiling.)

You can't "turn on" the IDENTITY: it's a table rebuild.

If you don't care about the number order, you'd add the column, NOT NULL, with IDENTITY in one go. 150k rows isn't a lot.

If you need to preserve some number order, then add the numbers accordingly. Then use the SSMS table designer to set the IDENTITY property. This allows you to generate a script which will do the column drop/add/keep numbers/reseed for you.

Efficient way to update all rows in a table

Might not work you for, but a technique I've used a couple times in the past for similar circumstances.

created updated_{table_name}, then select insert into this table in batches. Once finished, and this hinges on Oracle ( which I don't know or use ) supporting the ability to rename tables in an atomic fashion. updated_{table_name} becomes {table_name} while {table_name} becomes original_{table_name}.

Last time I had to do this was for a heavily indexed table with several million rows that absolutely positively could not be locked for the duration needed to make some serious changes to it.

CNAME'ing a root record is technically not against RFC, but does have limitations meaning it is a practice that is not recommended.

Normally your root record will have multiple entries. Say, 3 for your name servers and then one for an IP address.

Per RFC:

Why is Visual Studio 2010 not able to find/open PDB files?

I'm pretty sure those are warnings, not errors. Your project should still run just fine.

However, since you should always try to fix compiler warnings, let's see what we can discover. I'm not at all familiar with OpenCV, and you don't link to the wiki tutorial that you're following. But it looks to me like the problem is that you're running a 64-bit version of Windows (as evidenced by the "SysWOW64" folder in the path to the DLL files), but the OpenCV stuff that you're trying is built for a 32-bit platform. So you might need to rebuild the project using CMake, as explained here.

More specifically, the files that are listed are Windows system files. PDB files contain debugging information that Visual Studio uses to allow you to step into and debug compiled code. You don't actually need the PDB files for system libraries to be able to debug your own code. But if you want, you can download the symbols for the system libraries as well. Go to the "Debug" menu, click on "Options and Settings", and scroll down the listbox on the right until you see "Enable source server support". Make sure that option is checked. Then, in the treeview to the left, click on "Symbols", and make sure that the "Microsoft Symbol Servers" option is selected. Click OK to dismiss the dialog, and then try rebuilding.

You can either filter for any cells in column A that don't have a "-" and copy / paste, or (my more preferred method) filter for all cells that do have a "-" and then select all and delete - Once you remove the filter, you're left with what you need.

Looping from 1 to infinity in Python

If you're doing that in C, then your judgement there is as cloudy as it would be in Python :-)

For a loop that exits on a simple condition check at the start of each iteration, it's more usual (and clearer, in my opinion) to just do that in the looping construct itself. In other words, something like (if you need i after loop end):

int i = 0;
while (! thereIsAReasonToBreak(i)) {
    // do something
    i++;
}

or (if i can be scoped to just the loop):

for (int i = 0; ! thereIsAReasonToBreak(i); ++i) {
    // do something
}

That would translate to the Python equivalent:

i = 0
while not there_is_a_reason_to_break(i):
    # do something
    i += 1

Only if you need to exit in the middle of the loop somewhere (or if your condition is complex enough that it would render your looping statement far less readable) would you need to worry about breaking.

When your potential exit is a simple one at the start of the loop (as it appears to be here), it's usually better to encode the exit into the loop itself.

You define var scatterSeries = [];, and then try to parse it as a json string at console.info(JSON.parse(scatterSeries)); which obviously fails. The variable is converted to an empty string, which causes an "unexpected end of input" error when trying to parse it.

Instead of using the basic print() function, the more flexible logging module can be used to log the exception. The logging module offers a lot extra functionality, e.g. logging messages into a given log file, logging messages with timestamps and additional information about where the logging happened. Logging an exception can be done with the module-level function logging.exception() like so:

The simplest method is to run your program (unmodified) in Cygwin console.

The second simplest method is to run you program (also unmodified) in the ordinary Windows console, pipelining its output through tee.exe (from Cygwin or Git distribution). Tee.exe will recognize the escape codes and call appropriate WinAPI functions.

Cannot set some HTTP headers when using System.Net.WebRequest

Anytime you're changing the headers of an HttpWebRequest, you need to use the appropriate properties on the object itself, if they exist. If you have a plain WebRequest, be sure to cast it to an HttpWebRequest first. Then Referrer in your case can be accessed via ((HttpWebRequest)request).Referrer, so you don't need to modify the header directly - just set the property to the right value. ContentLength, ContentType, UserAgent, etc, all need to be set this way.

IMHO, this is a shortcoming on MS part...setting the headers via Headers.Add() should automatically call the appropriate property behind the scenes, if that's what they want to do.

From getOutputStream:

Returns an output stream that writes to this connection.

Basically, I think you have a good understanding of how this works, so let me just reiterate in layman's terms. getOutputStream basically opens a connection stream, with the intention of writing data to the server. In the above code example "message" could be a comment that we're sending to the server that represents a comment left on a post. When you see getOutputStream, you're opening the connection stream for writing, but you don't actually write any data until you call writer.write("message=" + message);.

From getInputStream():

Returns an input stream that reads from this open connection. A SocketTimeoutException can be thrown when reading from the returned input stream if the read timeout expires before data is available for read.

getInputStream does the opposite. Like getOutputStream, it also opens a connection stream, but the intent is to read data from the server, not write to it. If the connection or stream-opening fails, you'll see a SocketTimeoutException.

How about the getInputStream? Since I'm only able to get the response at getInputStream, then does it mean that I didn't send any request at getOutputStream yet but simply establishes a connection?

Keep in mind that sending a request and sending data are two different operations. When you invoke getOutputStream or getInputStream url.openConnection(), you send a request to the server to establish a connection. There is a handshake that occurs where the server sends back an acknowledgement to you that the connection is established. It is then at that point in time that you're prepared to send or receive data. Thus, you do not need to call getOutputStream to establish a connection open a stream, unless your purpose for making the request is to send data.

In layman's terms, making a getInputStream request is the equivalent of making a phone call to your friend's house to say "Hey, is it okay if I come over and borrow that pair of vice grips?" and your friend establishes the handshake by saying, "Sure! Come and get it". Then, at that point, the connection is made, you walk to your friend's house, knock on the door, request the vice grips, and walk back to your house.

Using a similar example for getOutputStream would involve calling your friend and saying "Hey, I have that money I owe you, can I send it to you"? Your friend, needing money and sick inside that you kept it for so long, says "Sure, come on over you cheap bastard". So you walk to your friend's house and "POST" the money to him. He then kicks you out and you walk back to your house.

Now, continuing with the layman's example, let's look at some Exceptions. If you called your friend and he wasn't home, that could be a 500 error. If you called and got a disconnected number message because your friend is tired of you borrowing money all the time, that's a 404 page not found. If your phone is dead because you didn't pay the bill, that could be an IOException. (NOTE: This section may not be 100% correct. It's intended to give you a general idea of what's happening in layman's terms.)

Question #5:

Yes, you are correct that openConnection simply creates a new connection object but does not establish it. The connection is established when you call either getInputStream or getOutputStream.

openConnection creates a new connection object. From the URL.openConnection javadocs:

A new connection is opened every time by calling the openConnection method of the protocol handler for this URL.

The connection is established when you call openConnection, and the InputStream, OutputStream, or both, are called when you instantiate them.

To measure the overhead, I generally wrap some very simple timing code around the entire connection block, like so:

You may have made some new commits in the detached HEAD state. I believe if you do as other answers advise:

git checkout master

git checkout -

then you may lose your commits!! Instead, you may want to do this:

# you are currently in detached HEAD state
git checkout -b commits-from-detached-head

and then merge commits-from-detached-head into whatever branch you want, so you don't lose the commits.
