What is the 'instanceof' operator used for in Java?

Best explanation is jls. Always try to check what source says. There you will get the best answer plus much more. Reproducing some parts here:

The type of the RelationalExpression operand of the instanceof operator must be a reference type or the null type; otherwise, a compile-time error occurs.

It is a compile-time error if the ReferenceType mentioned after the instanceof operator does not denote a reference type that is reifiable (§4.7).

If a cast (§15.16) of the RelationalExpression to the ReferenceType would be rejected as a compile-time error, then the instanceof relational expression likewise produces a compile-time error. In such a situation, the result of the instanceof expression could never be true.

How to rebuild docker container in docker-compose.yml?

docker-compose up

$ docker-compose up -d --no-deps --build <service_name>

--no-deps - Don't start linked services.

--build - Build images before starting containers.

HTML table needs spacing between columns, not rows

<table cellpadding="pixels"cellspacing="pixels"></table>
<td align="position"valign="position"></td>

cellpadding="length in pixels" ~ The cellpadding attribute, used in the <table> tag, specifies how much blank space to display in between the content of each table cell and its respective border. The value is defined as a length in pixels. Hence, a cellpadding="10" attribute-value pair will display 10 pixels of blank space on all four sides of the content of each cell in that table.

cellspacing="length in pixels" ~ The cellspacing attribute, also used in the <table> tag, defines how much blank space to display in between adjacent table cells and in between table cells and the table border. The value is defined as a length in pixels. Hence, a cellspacing="10" attribute-value pair will horizontally and vertically separate all adjacent cells in the respective table by a length of 10 pixels. It will also offset all cells from the table's frame on all four sides by a length of 10 pixels.

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException

First you should learn about loops, in this case most suitable is for loop. For instance let's initialize whole table with increasing values starting with 0:

final int SIZE = 10;
int[] array = new int[SIZE];
for (int i = 0; i < SIZE; i++) {
    array[i] = i;
}

Now you can modify it to initialize your table with values as per your assignment. But what happen if you replace condition i < SIZE with i < 11? Well, you will get IndexOutOfBoundException, as you try to access (at some point) an object under index 10, but the highest index in 10-element array is 9. So you are trying, in other words, to find friend's home with number 11, but there are only 10 houses in the street.

In case of the code you presented, well, there must be more of it, as you can not get this error (exception) from that code.

regular expression for DOT

[+*?.] Most special characters have no meaning inside the square brackets. This expression matches any of +, *, ? or the dot.

ConnectionTimeout versus SocketTimeout

A connection timeout occurs only upon starting the TCP connection. This usually happens if the remote machine does not answer. This means that the server has been shut down, you used the wrong IP/DNS name, wrong port or the network connection to the server is down.

A socket timeout is dedicated to monitor the continuous incoming data flow. If the data flow is interrupted for the specified timeout the connection is regarded as stalled/broken. Of course this only works with connections where data is received all the time.

By setting socket timeout to 1 this would require that every millisecond new data is received (assuming that you read the data block wise and the block is large enough)!

If only the incoming stream stalls for more than a millisecond you are running into a timeout.

Pointer arithmetic for void pointer in C

Void pointers can point to any memory chunk. Hence the compiler does not know how many bytes to increment/decrement when we attempt pointer arithmetic on a void pointer. Therefore void pointers must be first typecast to a known type before they can be involved in any pointer arithmetic.

void *p = malloc(sizeof(char)*10);
p++; //compiler does how many where to pint the pointer after this increment operation

char * c = (char *)p;
c++; // compiler will increment the c by 1, since size of char is 1 byte.

Regular expression to find URLs within a string

I use this Regex:

/((\w+:\/\/\S+)|(\w+[\.:]\w+\S+))[^\s,\.]/ig

It works fine for many URLs, like: http://google.com, https://dev-site.io:8080/home?val=1&count=100, www.regexr.com, localhost:8080/path, ...

How to know/change current directory in Python shell?

>>> import os
>>> os.system('cd c:\mydir')

In fact, os.system() can execute any command that windows command prompt can execute, not just change dir.

how to automatically scroll down a html page?

You can use two different techniques to achieve this.

The first one is with javascript: set the scrollTop property of the scrollable element (e.g. document.body.scrollTop = 1000;).

The second is setting the link to point to a specific id in the page e.g.

<a href="mypage.html#sectionOne">section one</a>

Then if in your target page you'll have that ID the page will be scrolled automatically.

How to 'bulk update' with Django?

How to retrieve a single file from a specific revision in Git?

The easiest way is to write:

git show HASH:file/path/name.ext > some_new_name.ext

where:

  • HASH is the Git revision SHA-1 hash number
  • file/path/name.ext is name of the file you are looking for
  • some_new_name.ext is path and name where the old file should be saved

Example

git show 27cf8e84bb88e24ae4b4b3df2b77aab91a3735d8:my_file.txt > my_file.txt.OLD

This will save my_file.txt from revision 27cf8e as a new file with name my_file.txt.OLD

It was tested with Git 2.4.5.

If you want to retrieve deleted file you can use HASH~1 (one commit before specified HASH).

EXAMPLE:

git show 27cf8e84bb88e24ae4b4b3df2b77aab91a3735d8~1:deleted_file.txt > deleted_file.txt

Increment value in mysql update query

Remove the ' around the point:

mysql_query("UPDATE member_profile SET points=".$points."+1 WHERE user_id = '".$userid."'");

You are "casting" an integer value to string in your original query...

Regular Expression with wildcards to match any character

Without knowing the exact regex implementation you're making use of, I can only give general advice. (The syntax I will be perl as that's what I know, some languages will require tweaking)

Looking at ABC: (z) jan 02 1999 \n

  • The first thing to match is ABC: So using our regex is /ABC:/

  • You say ABC is always at the start of the string so /^ABC/ will ensure that ABC is at the start of the string.

  • You can match spaces with the \s (note the case) directive. With all directives you can match one or more with + (or 0 or more with *)

  • You need to escape the usage of ( and ) as it's a reserved character. so \(\)

  • You can match any non space or newline character with .

  • You can match anything at all with .* but you need to be careful you're not too greedy and capture everything.

So in order to capture what you've asked. I would use /^ABC:\s*\(.+?\)\s*(.+)$/

Which I read as:

Begins with ABC:

May have some spaces

has (

has some characters

has )

may have some spaces

then capture everything until the end of the line (which is $).

Switch role after connecting to database

If someone still needs it (like I do).

The specified role_name must be a role that the current session user is a member of. https://www.postgresql.org/docs/10/sql-set-role.html

We need to make the current session user a member of the role:

create role myrole;
set role myrole;
grant myrole to myuser;
set role myrole;

produces:

Role ROLE created.

Error starting at line : 4 in command -
set role myrole
Error report -
ERROR: permission denied to set role "myrole"

Grant succeeded.

Role SET succeeded.

How to solve Permission denied (publickey) error when using Git?

In my case, I have reinstalled ubuntu and the user name is changed from previous. In this case the the generated ssh key also differs from the previous one.

The issue solved by just copy the current ssh public key, in the repository. The key will be available in your user's /home/.ssh/id_rsa.pub

How to write to an existing excel file without overwriting data (using pandas)?

Pandas docs says it uses openpyxl for xlsx files. Quick look through the code in ExcelWriter gives a clue that something like this might work out:

import pandas
from openpyxl import load_workbook

book = load_workbook('Masterfile.xlsx')
writer = pandas.ExcelWriter('Masterfile.xlsx', engine='openpyxl')
writer.book = book

## ExcelWriter for some reason uses writer.sheets to access the sheet.
## If you leave it empty it will not know that sheet Main is already there
## and will create a new sheet.

writer.sheets = dict((ws.title, ws) for ws in book.worksheets)

data_filtered.to_excel(writer, "Main", cols=['Diff1', 'Diff2'])

writer.save()

`node-pre-gyp install --fallback-to-build` failed during MeanJS installation on OSX

Hope my scenario can help someone else. I had the same problem with the package bcrypt. First, I have tried with npm i -g node-gyp as suggested by Anne but the problem persisted. Then I read again the error message to have a better understanding of the problem and discovered that the script fails to build the package from scratch - since a precompiled version doesn't exist. In particular, it can't find the g++ command so I solved installing the build-essential package with sudo apt install build-essential -y.

How to make an android app to always run in background?

On some mobiles like mine (MIUI Redmi 3) you can just add specific Application on list where application doesnt stop when you terminate applactions in Task Manager (It will stop but it will start again)

Just go to Settings>PermissionsAutostart

Center text in table cell

I would recommend using CSS for this. You should create a CSS rule to enforce the centering, for example:

.ui-helper-center {
    text-align: center;
}

And then add the ui-helper-center class to the table cells for which you wish to control the alignment:

<td class="ui-helper-center">Content</td>

EDIT: Since this answer was accepted, I felt obligated to edit out the parts that caused a flame-war in the comments, and to not promote poor and outdated practices.

See Gabe's answer for how to include the CSS rule into your page.

getString Outside of a Context or Activity

##Unique Approach

##App.getRes().getString(R.string.some_id)

This will work everywhere in app. (Util class, Dialog, Fragment or any class in your app)

(1) Create or Edit (if already exist) your Application class.

import android.app.Application;
import android.content.res.Resources;

public class App extends Application {
    private static App mInstance;
    private static Resources res;

    @Override
    public void onCreate() {
        super.onCreate();
        mInstance = this;
        res = getResources();
    }

    public static App getInstance() {
        return mInstance;
    }

    public static Resources getRes() {
        return res;
    }

}

(2) Add name field to your manifest.xml <application tag.

<application
        android:name=".App"
        ...
        >
        ...
    </application>

Now you are good to go. Use App.getRes().getString(R.string.some_id) anywhere in app.

What's the difference between django OneToOneField and ForeignKey?

Also OneToOneField is useful to be used as primary key to avoid key duplication. One may do not have implicit / explicit autofield

models.AutoField(primary_key=True)

but use OneToOneField as primary key instead (imagine UserProfile model for example):

user = models.OneToOneField(
    User, null=False, primary_key=True, verbose_name='Member profile')

Disable Rails SQL logging in console

In Rails 3.2 I'm doing something like this in config/environment/development.rb:

module MyApp
  class Application < Rails::Application
    console do
      ActiveRecord::Base.logger = Logger.new( Rails.root.join("log", "development.log") )
    end
  end
end

How to make HTTP Post request with JSON body in Swift

Swift 4 and 5

HTTP POST request using URLSession API in Swift 4

func postRequest(username: String, password: String, completion: @escaping ([String: Any]?, Error?) -> Void) {

    //declare parameter as a dictionary which contains string as key and value combination.
    let parameters = ["name": username, "password": password]

    //create the url with NSURL
    let url = URL(string: "https://www.myserver.com/api/login")!

    //create the session object
    let session = URLSession.shared

    //now create the Request object using the url object
    var request = URLRequest(url: url)
    request.httpMethod = "POST" //set http method as POST

    do {
        request.httpBody = try JSONSerialization.data(withJSONObject: parameters, options: .prettyPrinted) // pass dictionary to data object and set it as request body
    } catch let error {
        print(error.localizedDescription)
        completion(nil, error)
    }

    //HTTP Headers
    request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Content-Type")
    request.addValue("application/json", forHTTPHeaderField: "Accept")

    //create dataTask using the session object to send data to the server
    let task = session.dataTask(with: request, completionHandler: { data, response, error in

        guard error == nil else {
            completion(nil, error)
            return
        }

        guard let data = data else {
            completion(nil, NSError(domain: "dataNilError", code: -100001, userInfo: nil))
            return
        }

        do {
            //create json object from data
            guard let json = try JSONSerialization.jsonObject(with: data, options: .mutableContainers) as? [String: Any] else {
                completion(nil, NSError(domain: "invalidJSONTypeError", code: -100009, userInfo: nil))
                return
            }
            print(json)
            completion(json, nil)
        } catch let error {
            print(error.localizedDescription)
            completion(nil, error)
        }
    })

    task.resume()
}

@objc func submitAction(_ sender: UIButton) {
    //call postRequest with username and password parameters
    postRequest(username: "username", password: "password") { (result, error) in
    if let result = result {
        print("success: \(result)")
    } else if let error = error {
        print("error: \(error.localizedDescription)")
    }
}

Using Alamofire:

let parameters = ["name": "username", "password": "password123"]
Alamofire.request("https://www.myserver.com/api/login", method: .post, parameters: parameters, encoding: URLEncoding.httpBody)

Column order manipulation using col-lg-push and col-lg-pull in Twitter Bootstrap 3

Pull "pulls" the div towards the left of the browser and and Push "pushes" the div away from left of browser.

Like: enter image description here

So basically in a 3 column layout of any web page the "Main Body" appears at the "Center" and in "Mobile" view the "Main Body" appears at the "Top" of the page. This is mostly desired by everyone with 3 column layout.

<div class="container">
    <div class="row">
        <div id="content" class="col-lg-4 col-lg-push-4 col-sm-12">
        <h2>This is Content</h2>
        <p>orem Ipsum ...</p>
        </div>

        <div id="sidebar-left" class="col-lg-4  col-sm-6 col-lg-pull-4">
        <h2>This is Left Sidebar</h2>
        <p>orem Ipsum...</p>
        </div>

        <div id="sidebar-right" class="col-lg-4 col-sm-6">
        <h2>This is Right Sidebar</h2>
        <p>orem Ipsum.... </p>
        </div>
    </div>

How to apply slide animation between two activities in Android?

enter image description here

You can overwrite your default activity animation and it perform better than overridePendingTransition. I use this solution that work for every android version. Just copy paste 4 files and add a 4 lines style as below:

Create a "CustomActivityAnimation" and add this to your base Theme by "windowAnimationStyle".

<!-- Base application theme. -->
<style name="AppTheme" parent="Theme.AppCompat.Light.NoActionBar">
    <!-- Customize your theme here. -->
    <item name="colorPrimary">@color/colorPrimary</item>
    <item name="colorPrimaryDark">@color/colorPrimaryDark</item>
    <item name="colorAccent">@color/colorPrimary</item>
    <item name="android:windowAnimationStyle">@style/CustomActivityAnimation</item>

</style>

<style name="CustomActivityAnimation" parent="@android:style/Animation.Activity">
    <item name="android:activityOpenEnterAnimation">@anim/slide_in_right</item>
    <item name="android:activityOpenExitAnimation">@anim/slide_out_left</item>
    <item name="android:activityCloseEnterAnimation">@anim/slide_in_left</item>
    <item name="android:activityCloseExitAnimation">@anim/slide_out_right</item>
</style>

Then Create anim folder under res folder and then create this four animation files into anim folder:

slide_in_right.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

<set xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
    <translate android:fromXDelta="100%p" android:toXDelta="0"
        android:duration="@android:integer/config_mediumAnimTime"/>
</set>

slide_out_left.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<set xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
    <translate android:fromXDelta="0" android:toXDelta="-100%p"
        android:duration="@android:integer/config_mediumAnimTime"/>
</set>

slide_in_left.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

<set xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
    <translate android:fromXDelta="-100%p" android:toXDelta="0"
        android:duration="@android:integer/config_mediumAnimTime"/>
</set>

slide_out_right.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

<set xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
    <translate android:fromXDelta="0" android:toXDelta="100%p"
        android:duration="@android:integer/config_mediumAnimTime"/>
</set>

"No X11 DISPLAY variable" - what does it mean?

For those who are trying to get an X Window application working from Windows from Linux:

What worked for me was to setup xming server on my windows machine, set X11 forwarding option in putty when I connect to the linux host and put in my windows ip address with the display port and then the display variable with my windows IP address:0.0

Dont forget to add the linux hosts IP address to the X0.hosts file to ensure that the xming server accepts traffic from that host. Took me a while to figure that out.

Draw path between two points using Google Maps Android API v2

Dont know whether I should put this as answer or not...

I used @Zeeshan0026's solution to draw the path...and the problem was that if I draw path once, and then I do try to draw path once again, both two paths show and this continues...paths showing even when markers were deleted... while, ideally, old paths' shouldn't be there once new path is drawn / markers are deleted..

going through some other question over SO, I had the following solution

I add the following function in Zeeshan's class

 public void clearRoute(){

         for(Polyline line1 : polylines)
         {
             line1.remove();
         }

         polylines.clear();

     }

in my map activity, before drawing the path, I called this function.. example usage as per my app is

private Route rt;

rt.clearRoute();

            if (src == null) {
                Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Please select your Source", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
            }else if (Destination == null) {
                Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Please select your Destination", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
            }else if (src.equals(Destination)) {
                Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Source and Destinatin can not be the same..", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
            }else{

                rt.drawRoute(mMap, MapsMainActivity.this, src,
                        Destination, false, "en");
            }

you can use rt.clearRoute(); as per your requirements.. Hoping that it will save a few minutes of someone else and will help some beginner in solving this issue..

                                    Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();

                        }

                    }

                    break;

Edit 2 as per comments

usage :

//variables as data members
GoogleMap mMap;
private Route rt;
static LatLng src;
static LatLng Destination;
//MapsMainActivity is my activity
//false for interim stops for traffic, google
// en language for html description returned

rt.drawRoute(mMap, MapsMainActivity.this, src,
                            Destination, false, "en");

Is it possible to iterate through JSONArray?

You can use the opt(int) method and use a classical for loop.

how to set mongod --dbpath

First you will have a config file in /etc/mongodb.conf, therefore this sounds like a homebrew install which will use some more standardized paths. The whole /data/db/ thing is referenced in a lot of manual install documentation.

So basically from your log the server is not running, it's shutting down, so there is nothing for the shell to connect to. Seems like you have had some unclean shutdowns/restarts which has led to the inconsistency.

Clear the files in the journal /usr/local/var/mongodb/journal/ on your config.

Also:

sudo rm /var/lib/mongodb/mongod.lock

Just in case, even though that part looks clean. And then restart.

git pull aborted with error filename too long

Solution1 - set global config, by running this command:

git config --system core.longpaths true

Solution2 - or you can edit directly your specific git config file like below:

YourRepoFolder -> .git -> config:

[core]
    repositoryformatversion = 0
    filemode = false
    ...
    longpaths = true <-- (add this line under core section)

Solution3 - when cloning a new repository: here.

Why does using an Underscore character in a LIKE filter give me all the results?

Underscore is a wildcard for something. for example 'A_%' will look for all match that Start whit 'A' and have minimum 1 extra character after that

How can I add (simple) tracing in C#?

I followed around five different answers as well as all the blog posts in the previous answers and still had problems. I was trying to add a listener to some existing code that was tracing using the TraceSource.TraceEvent(TraceEventType, Int32, String) method where the TraceSource object was initialised with a string making it a 'named source'.

For me the issue was not creating a valid combination of source and switch elements to target this source. Here is an example that will log to a file called tracelog.txt. For the following code:

TraceSource source = new TraceSource("sourceName");
source.TraceEvent(TraceEventType.Verbose, 1, "Trace message");

I successfully managed to log with the following diagnostics configuration:

<system.diagnostics>
    <sources>
        <source name="sourceName" switchName="switchName">
            <listeners>
                <add
                    name="textWriterTraceListener"
                    type="System.Diagnostics.TextWriterTraceListener"
                    initializeData="tracelog.txt" />
            </listeners>
        </source>
    </sources>

    <switches>
        <add name="switchName" value="Verbose" />
    </switches>
</system.diagnostics>

Spark: subtract two DataFrames

According to the api docs, doing:

dataFrame1.except(dataFrame2)

will return a new DataFrame containing rows in dataFrame1 but not in dataframe2.

Is it possible to hide/encode/encrypt php source code and let others have the system?

Yes, you can definitely hide/encode/encrypt the php source code and 'others' can install it on their machine. You could use the below tools to achieve the same.

But these 'others' can also decode/decrypt the source code using other tools and services found online. So you cannot 100% protect your code, what you can do is, make it tougher for someone to reverse engineer your code.

Most of these tools above support Encoding and Obfuscating.

  • Encoding will hide your code by encrypting it.
  • Obfuscating will make your code difficult to understand.

You can choose to use both (Encoding and Obfuscating) or either one, depending on your needs.

URL Encode a string in jQuery for an AJAX request

try this one

var query = "{% url accounts.views.instasearch  %}?q=" + $('#tags').val().replace(/ /g, '+');

Validating parameters to a Bash script

You can validate point a and b compactly by doing something like the following:

#!/bin/sh
MYVAL=$(echo ${1} | awk '/^[0-9]+$/')
MYVAL=${MYVAL:?"Usage - testparms <number>"}
echo ${MYVAL}

Which gives us ...

$ ./testparams.sh
Usage - testparms <number>

$ ./testparams.sh 1234
1234

$ ./testparams.sh abcd
Usage - testparms <number>

This method should work fine in sh.

How to prevent XSS with HTML/PHP?

Cross-posting this as a consolidated reference from the SO Documentation beta which is going offline.

Problem

Cross-site scripting is the unintended execution of remote code by a web client. Any web application might expose itself to XSS if it takes input from a user and outputs it directly on a web page. If input includes HTML or JavaScript, remote code can be executed when this content is rendered by the web client.

For example, if a 3rd party side contains a JavaScript file:

// http://example.com/runme.js
document.write("I'm running");

And a PHP application directly outputs a string passed into it:

<?php
echo '<div>' . $_GET['input'] . '</div>';

If an unchecked GET parameter contains <script src="http://example.com/runme.js"></script> then the output of the PHP script will be:

<div><script src="http://example.com/runme.js"></script></div>

The 3rd party JavaScript will run and the user will see "I'm running" on the web page.

Solution

As a general rule, never trust input coming from a client. Every GET parameter, POST or PUT content, and cookie value could be anything at all, and should therefore be validated. When outputting any of these values, escape them so they will not be evaluated in an unexpected way.

Keep in mind that even in the simplest applications data can be moved around and it will be hard to keep track of all sources. Therefore it is a best practice to always escape output.

PHP provides a few ways to escape output depending on the context.

Filter Functions

PHPs Filter Functions allow the input data to the php script to be sanitized or validated in many ways. They are useful when saving or outputting client input.

HTML Encoding

htmlspecialchars will convert any "HTML special characters" into their HTML encodings, meaning they will then not be processed as standard HTML. To fix our previous example using this method:

<?php
echo '<div>' . htmlspecialchars($_GET['input']) . '</div>';
// or
echo '<div>' . filter_input(INPUT_GET, 'input', FILTER_SANITIZE_SPECIAL_CHARS) . '</div>';

Would output:

<div>&lt;script src=&quot;http://example.com/runme.js&quot;&gt;&lt;/script&gt;</div>

Everything inside the <div> tag will not be interpreted as a JavaScript tag by the browser, but instead as a simple text node. The user will safely see:

<script src="http://example.com/runme.js"></script>

URL Encoding

When outputting a dynamically generated URL, PHP provides the urlencode function to safely output valid URLs. So, for example, if a user is able to input data that becomes part of another GET parameter:

<?php
$input = urlencode($_GET['input']);
// or
$input = filter_input(INPUT_GET, 'input', FILTER_SANITIZE_URL);
echo '<a href="http://example.com/page?input="' . $input . '">Link</a>';

Any malicious input will be converted to an encoded URL parameter.

Using specialised external libraries or OWASP AntiSamy lists

Sometimes you will want to send HTML or other kind of code inputs. You will need to maintain a list of authorised words (white list) and un-authorized (blacklist).

You can download standard lists available at the OWASP AntiSamy website. Each list is fit for a specific kind of interaction (ebay api, tinyMCE, etc...). And it is open source.

There are libraries existing to filter HTML and prevent XSS attacks for the general case and performing at least as well as AntiSamy lists with very easy use. For example you have HTML Purifier

How to remove first 10 characters from a string?

There is no need to specify the length into the Substring method. Therefore:

string s = hello world;
string p = s.Substring(3);

p will be:

"lo world".

The only exception you need to cater for is ArgumentOutOfRangeException if startIndex is less than zero or greater than the length of this instance.

angular2 manually firing click event on particular element

If you want to imitate click on the DOM element like this:

<a (click)="showLogin($event)">login</a>

and have something like this on the page:

<li ngbDropdown>
    <a ngbDropdownToggle id="login-menu">
        ...
    </a>
 </li>

your function in component.ts should be like this:

showLogin(event) {
   event.stopPropagation();
   document.getElementById('login-menu').click();
}

How to AUTO_INCREMENT in db2?

You're looking for is called an IDENTITY column:

create table student (
   sid integer not null GENERATED ALWAYS AS IDENTITY (START WITH 1 INCREMENT BY 1)
  ,sname varchar(30)
  ,PRIMARY KEY (sid)
);

A sequence is another option for doing this, but you need to determine which one is proper for your particular situation. Read this for more information comparing sequences to identity columns.

Call a stored procedure with parameter in c#

The .NET Data Providers consist of a number of classes used to connect to a data source, execute commands, and return recordsets. The Command Object in ADO.NET provides a number of Execute methods that can be used to perform the SQL queries in a variety of fashions.

A stored procedure is a pre-compiled executable object that contains one or more SQL statements. In many cases stored procedures accept input parameters and return multiple values . Parameter values can be supplied if a stored procedure is written to accept them. A sample stored procedure with accepting input parameter is given below :

  CREATE PROCEDURE SPCOUNTRY
  @COUNTRY VARCHAR(20)
  AS
  SELECT PUB_NAME FROM publishers WHERE COUNTRY = @COUNTRY
  GO

The above stored procedure is accepting a country name (@COUNTRY VARCHAR(20)) as parameter and return all the publishers from the input country. Once the CommandType is set to StoredProcedure, you can use the Parameters collection to define parameters.

  command.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
  param = new SqlParameter("@COUNTRY", "Germany");
  param.Direction = ParameterDirection.Input;
  param.DbType = DbType.String;
  command.Parameters.Add(param);

The above code passing country parameter to the stored procedure from C# application.

            adapter.Fill(ds);

            for (i = 0; i <= ds.Tables[0].Rows.Count - 1; i++)
            {
                MessageBox.Show (ds.Tables[0].Rows[i][0].ToString ());
            }

            connection.Close();
        }
    }
}

In Python, how do I iterate over a dictionary in sorted key order?

You can now use OrderedDict in Python 2.7 as well:

>>> from collections import OrderedDict
>>> d = OrderedDict([('first', 1),
...                  ('second', 2),
...                  ('third', 3)])
>>> d.items()
[('first', 1), ('second', 2), ('third', 3)]

Here you have the what's new page for 2.7 version and the OrderedDict API.

                            ORDER BY ...
                            LIMIT 1)

HTML - how can I show tooltip ONLY when ellipsis is activated

We need to detect whether ellipsis is really applied, then to show a tooltip to reveal full text. It is not enough by only comparing "this.offsetWidth < this.scrollWidth" when the element nearly holding its content but only lacking one or two more pixels in width, especially for the text of full-width Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters.

Here is an example: http://jsfiddle.net/28r5D/5/

I found a way to improve ellipsis detection:

  1. Compare "this.offsetWidth < this.scrollWidth" first, continue step #2 if failed.
  2. Switch css style temporally to {'overflow': 'visible', 'white-space': 'normal', 'word-break': 'break-all'}.
  3. Let browser do relayout. If word-wrap happening, the element will expands its height which also means ellipsis is required.
  4. Restore css style.

Here is my improvement: http://jsfiddle.net/28r5D/6/

Can I use complex HTML with Twitter Bootstrap's Tooltip?

Another solution to avoid inserting html into data-title is to create independant div with tooltip html content, and refer to this div when creating your tooltip :

<!-- Tooltip link -->
<p><span class="tip" data-tip="my-tip">Hello world</span></p>

<!-- Tooltip content -->
<div id="my-tip" class="tip-content hidden">
    <h2>Tip title</h2>
    <p>This is my tip content</p>
</div>

<script type="text/javascript">
    $(document).ready(function () {
        // Tooltips
        $('.tip').each(function () {
            $(this).tooltip(
            {
                html: true,
                title: $('#' + $(this).data('tip')).html()
            });
        });
    });
</script>

This way you can create complex readable html content, and activate as many tooltips as you want.

This usually happens when you change the project directory physically without first delete in Eclipse. You can view and delete these hidden projects in the following view:

Window -> Show View -> Other -> General -> Navigator

Then simply just continue with the process of import existing project.

Pandas convert dataframe to array of tuples

How about:

subset = data_set[['data_date', 'data_1', 'data_2']]
tuples = [tuple(x) for x in subset.to_numpy()]

for pandas < 0.24 use

tuples = [tuple(x) for x in subset.values]

How can I delete a file from a Git repository?

git rm will only remove the file on this branch from now on, but it remains in history and git will remember it.

The right way to do it is with git filter-branch, as others have mentioned here. It will rewrite every commit in the history of the branch to delete that file.

But, even after doing that, git can remember it because there can be references to it in reflog, remotes, tags and such.

If you want to completely obliterate it in one step, I recommend you to use git forget-blob

https://ownyourbits.com/2017/01/18/completely-remove-a-file-from-a-git-repository-with-git-forget-blob/

It is easy, just do git forget-blob file1.txt.

This will remove every reference, do git filter-branch, and finally run the git garbage collector git gc to completely get rid of this file in your repo.

how to convert a string date into datetime format in python?

Relay access denied on sending mail, Other domain outside of network

If it is giving you relay access denied when you are trying to send an email from outside your network to a domain that your server is not authoritative for then it means your receive connector does not grant you the permissions for sending/relaying. Most likely what you need to do is to authenticate to the server to be granted the permissions for relaying but that does depend upon the configuration of your receive connector. In Exchange 2007/2010/2013 you would need to enable ExchangeUsers permission group as well as an authentication mechanism such as Basic authentication.

Once you're sure your receive connector is configured make sure your email client is configured for authentication as well for the SMTP server. It depends upon your server setup but normally for Exchange you would configure the username by itself, no need for the domain to appended or prefixed to it.

To test things out with authentication via telnet you can go over my post here for directions: https://jefferyland.wordpress.com/2013/05/28/essential-exchange-troubleshooting-send-email-via-telnet/

How can I change the default Mysql connection timeout when connecting through python?

You change default value in MySQL configuration file (option connect_timeout in mysqld section) -

[mysqld]

How to import keras from tf.keras in Tensorflow?

I have a similar problem importing those libs. I am using Anaconda Navigator 1.8.2 with Spyder 3.2.8.

My code is the following:

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
import tensorflow as tf
import numpy as np
import math

#from tf.keras.models import Sequential # This does not work!
from tensorflow.python.keras.models import Sequential
from tensorflow.python.keras.layers import InputLayer, Input
from tensorflow.python.keras.layers import Reshape, MaxPooling2D
from tensorflow.python.keras.layers import Conv2D, Dense, Flatten

I get the following error:

from tensorflow.python.keras.models import Sequential

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'tensorflow.python.keras'

I solve this erasing tensorflow.python

With this code I solve the error:

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
import tensorflow as tf
import numpy as np
import math

#from tf.keras.models import Sequential # This does not work!
from keras.models import Sequential
from keras.layers import InputLayer, Input
from keras.layers import Reshape, MaxPooling2D
from keras.layers import Conv2D, Dense, Flatten

Git keeps prompting me for a password

I figure you fixed your problem, but I don't see the solution here that helped me, so here it is.

Type in terminal:

echo "" > ~/.ssh/known_hosts

That will empty your known_hosts file, and you'll have to add every host you used and have connected to, but it solved the problem.

Spring Boot default H2 jdbc connection (and H2 console)

I had made a very stupid mistake when I had this same problem. I had added H2 DB for running unit test cases and hence I had set the scope to test in pom.xml. While running the application using mvn spring:run I removed the scope and it works fine now.

How to Execute SQL Script File in Java?

No, you must read the file, split it into separate queries and then execute them individually (or using the batch API of JDBC).

One of the reasons is that every database defines their own way to separate SQL statements (some use ;, others /, some allow both or even to define your own separator).

How to increase the timeout period of web service in asp.net?

1 - You can set a timeout in your application :

var client = new YourServiceReference.YourServiceClass();
client.Timeout = 60; // or -1 for infinite

It is in milliseconds.

2 - Also you can increase timeout value in httpruntime tag in web/app.config :

<configuration>
     <system.web>
          <httpRuntime executionTimeout="<<**seconds**>>" />
          ...
     </system.web>
</configuration>

For ASP.NET applications, the Timeout property value should always be less than the executionTimeout attribute of the httpRuntime element in Machine.config. The default value of executionTimeout is 90 seconds. This property determines the time ASP.NET continues to process the request before it returns a timed out error. The value of executionTimeout should be the proxy Timeout, plus processing time for the page, plus buffer time for queues. -- Source

Get class labels from Keras functional model

It is possible to save a "list" of labels in keras model directly. This way the user who uses the model for predictions and does not have any other sources of information can perform the lookup himself. Here is a dummy example of how one can perform an "injection" of labels

# assume we get labels as list
labels = ["cat","dog","horse","tomato"]
# here we start building our model with input image 299x299 and one output layer
xx = Input(shape=(299,299,3))
flat = Flatten()(xx)
output = Dense(shape=(4))(flat)
# here we perform injection of labels
tf_labels = tf.constant([labels],dtype="string")
tf_labels = tf.tile(labels,[tf.shape(xx)[0],1])
output_labels = Lambda(lambda x: tf_labels,name="label_injection")(xx)
#and finaly creating a model
model=tf.keras.Model(xx,[output,output_labels])

When used for prediction, this model returns tensor of scores and tensot of string labels. Model like this can be saved to h5. In this case the file contains the labels. This model can also be exported to saved_model and used for serving in the cloud.

Can Mockito capture arguments of a method called multiple times?

With Java 8's lambdas, a convenient way is to use

org.mockito.invocation.InvocationOnMock

when(client.deleteByQuery(anyString(), anyString())).then(invocationOnMock -> {
    assertEquals("myCollection", invocationOnMock.getArgument(0));
    assertThat(invocationOnMock.getArgument(1), Matchers.startsWith("id:"));
}

How to use cURL in Java?

You can make use of java.net.URL and/or java.net.URLConnection.

URL url = new URL("https://stackoverflow.com");

try (BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(url.openStream(), "UTF-8"))) {
    for (String line; (line = reader.readLine()) != null;) {
        System.out.println(line);
    }
}

Also see the Oracle's simple tutorial on the subject. It's however a bit verbose. To end up with less verbose code, you may want to consider Apache HttpClient instead.

By the way: if your next question is "How to process HTML result?", then the answer is "Use a HTML parser. No, don't use regex for this.".

YAML equivalent of array of objects in JSON

TL;DR

You want this:

AAPL:
  - shares: -75.088
    date: 11/27/2015
  - shares: 75.088
    date: 11/26/2015

Mappings

The YAML equivalent of a JSON object is a mapping, which looks like these:

# flow style
{ foo: 1, bar: 2 }
# block style
foo: 1
bar: 2

Note that the first characters of the keys in a block mapping must be in the same column. To demonstrate:

# OK
   foo: 1
   bar: 2
# Parse error
   foo: 1
    bar: 2

Sequences

The equivalent of a JSON array in YAML is a sequence, which looks like either of these (which are equivalent):

# flow style
[ foo bar, baz ]
# block style
- foo bar
- baz

In a block sequence the -s must be in the same column.

JSON to YAML

Let's turn your JSON into YAML. Here's your JSON:

{"AAPL": [
  {
    "shares": -75.088,
    "date": "11/27/2015"
  },
  {
    "shares": 75.088,
    "date": "11/26/2015"
  },
]}

As a point of trivia, YAML is a superset of JSON, so the above is already valid YAML—but let's actually use YAML's features to make this prettier.

Starting from the inside out, we have objects that look like this:

{
  "shares": -75.088,
  "date": "11/27/2015"
}

The equivalent YAML mapping is:

shares: -75.088
date: 11/27/2015

We have two of these in an array (sequence):

- shares: -75.088
  date: 11/27/2015
- shares: 75.088
  date: 11/26/2015

Note how the -s line up and the first characters of the mapping keys line up.

Finally, this sequence is itself a value in a mapping with the key AAPL:

AAPL:
  - shares: -75.088
    date: 11/27/2015
  - shares: 75.088
    date: 11/26/2015

Parsing this and converting it back to JSON yields the expected result:

{
  "AAPL": [
    {
      "date": "11/27/2015",
      "shares": -75.088
    },
    {
      "date": "11/26/2015",
      "shares": 75.088
    }
  ]
}

You can see it (and edit it interactively) here.

Upload files from Java client to a HTTP server

Here is how you could do it with Java 11's java.net.http package:

    var fileA = new File("a.pdf");
    var fileB = new File("b.pdf");

    var mimeMultipartData = MimeMultipartData.newBuilder()
            .withCharset(StandardCharsets.UTF_8)
            .addFile("file1", fileA.toPath(), Files.probeContentType(fileA.toPath()))
            .addFile("file2", fileB.toPath(), Files.probeContentType(fileB.toPath()))
            .build();

Reflection - get attribute name and value on property

While the above most upvoted answers definitely work, I'd suggest using a slightly different approach in some cases.

If your class has multiple properties with always the same attribute and you want to get those attributes sorted into a dictionary, here is how:

var dict = typeof(Book).GetProperties().ToDictionary(p => p.Name, p => p.GetCustomAttributes(typeof(AuthorName), false).Select(a => (AuthorName)a).FirstOrDefault());

This still uses cast but ensures that the cast will always work as you will only get the custom attributes of the type "AuthorName". If you had multiple Attributes above answers would get a cast exception.

Using PowerShell to write a file in UTF-8 without the BOM

important!: this only works if an extra space or newline at the start is no problem for your use case of the file
(e.g. if it is an SQL file, Java file or human readable text file)

one could use a combination of creating an empty (non-UTF8 or ASCII (UTF8-compatible)) file and appending to it (replace $str with gc $src if the source is a file):

" "    |  out-file  -encoding ASCII  -noNewline  $dest
$str  |  out-file  -encoding UTF8   -append     $dest

as one-liner

replace $dest and $str according to your use case:

$_ofdst = $dest ; " " | out-file -encoding ASCII -noNewline $_ofdst ; $src | out-file -encoding UTF8 -append $_ofdst

as simple function

function Out-File-UTF8-noBOM { param( $str, $dest )
  " "    |  out-file  -encoding ASCII  -noNewline  $dest
  $str  |  out-file  -encoding UTF8   -append     $dest
}

using it with a source file:

Out-File-UTF8-noBOM  (gc $src),  $dest

using it with a string:

Out-File-UTF8-noBOM  $str,  $dest
  • optionally: continue appending with Out-File:

    "more foo bar"  |  Out-File -encoding UTF8 -append  $dest

Convert an integer to a float number

Type Conversions T() where T is the desired datatype of the result are quite simple in GoLang.

In my program, I scan an integer i from the user input, perform a type conversion on it and store it in the variable f. The output prints the float64 equivalent of the int input. float32 datatype is also available in GoLang

Code:

package main
import "fmt"
func main() {
    var i int
    fmt.Println("Enter an Integer input: ")
    fmt.Scanf("%d", &i)
    f := float64(i)
    fmt.Printf("The float64 representation of %d is %f\n", i, f)
}

Solution:

>>> Enter an Integer input:
>>> 232332
>>> The float64 representation of 232332 is 232332.000000

Python - Locating the position of a regex match in a string?

I don't think this question has been completely answered yet because all of the answers only give single match examples. The OP's question demonstrates the nuances of having 2 matches as well as a substring match which should not be reported because it is not a word/token.

To match multiple occurrences, one might do something like this:

iter = re.finditer(r"\bis\b", String)
indices = [m.start(0) for m in iter]

This would return a list of the two indices for the original string.

How to get an object's property's value by property name?

You can get a property by name using the Select-Object cmdlet and specifying the property name(s) that you're interested in. Note that this doesn't simply return the raw value for that property; instead you get something that still behaves like an object.

[PS]> $property = (Get-Process)[0] | Select-Object -Property Name

[PS]> $property

Name
----
armsvc

[PS]> $property.GetType().FullName
System.Management.Automation.PSCustomObject

In order to use the value for that property, you will still need to identify which property you are after, even if there is only one property:

[PS]> $property.Name
armsvc

[PS]> $property -eq "armsvc"
False

[PS]> $property.Name -eq "armsvc"
True

[PS]> $property.Name.GetType().FullName
System.String

As per other answers here, if you want to use a single property within a string, you need to evaluate the expression (put brackets around it) and prefix with a dollar sign ($) to declare the expression dynamically as a variable to be inserted into the string:

[PS]> "The first process in the list is: $($property.Name)"
The first process in the list is: armsvc

Quite correctly, others have answered this question by recommending the -ExpandProperty parameter for the Select-Object cmdlet. This bypasses some of the headache by returning the value of the property specified, but you will want to use different approaches in different scenarios.

-ExpandProperty <String>

Specifies a property to select, and indicates that an attempt should be made to expand that property

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh849895.aspx

[PS]> (Get-Process)[0] | Select-Object -ExpandProperty Name
armsvc

Understanding CUDA grid dimensions, block dimensions and threads organization (simple explanation)

Suppose a 9800GT GPU:

  • it has 14 multiprocessors (SM)
  • each SM has 8 thread-processors (AKA stream-processors, SP or cores)
  • allows up to 512 threads per block
  • warpsize is 32 (which means each of the 14x8=112 thread-processors can schedule up to 32 threads)

https://www.tutorialspoint.com/cuda/cuda_threads.htm

A block cannot have more active threads than 512 therefore __syncthreads can only synchronize limited number of threads. i.e. If you execute the following with 600 threads:

func1();
__syncthreads();
func2();
__syncthreads();

then the kernel must run twice and the order of execution will be:

  1. func1 is executed for the first 512 threads
  2. func2 is executed for the first 512 threads
  3. func1 is executed for the remaining threads
  4. func2 is executed for the remaining threads

Note:

The main point is __syncthreads is a block-wide operation and it does not synchronize all threads.

I'm not sure about the exact number of threads that __syncthreads can synchronize, since you can create a block with more than 512 threads and let the warp handle the scheduling. To my understanding it's more accurate to say: func1 is executed at least for the first 512 threads.

Before I edited this answer (back in 2010) I measured 14x8x32 threads were synchronized using __syncthreads.

I would greatly appreciate if someone test this again for a more accurate piece of information.

What does "@" mean in Windows batch scripts

It means "don't echo the command to standard output".

Rather strangely,

echo off

will send echo off to the output! So,

@echo off

sets this automatic echo behaviour off - and stops it for all future commands, too.

How does Facebook Sharer select Images and other metadata when sharing my URL?

This is what worked for me: I placed the desired thumbnail image on the page right after the tag and making it too small to see..

<img src="imagename.jpg" width="1" height="1" />

I have not tested it with height 0 and width 0 but it probably will still work.. This does not guarantee the user will select this image..

ALSO it seems like Facebook caches the thumbnails on your page and doesnt always check it for new ones.. try adding this to another page on your site and you'll see that it works.

How can I pass data from Flask to JavaScript in a template?

You can use {{ variable }} anywhere in your template, not just in the HTML part. So this should work:

<html>
<head>
  <script>
    var someJavaScriptVar = '{{ geocode[1] }}';
  </script>
</head>
<body>
  <p>Hello World</p>
  <button onclick="alert('Geocode: {{ geocode[0] }} ' + someJavaScriptVar)" />
</body>
</html>

Think of it as a two-stage process: First, Jinja (the template engine Flask uses) generates your text output. This gets sent to the user who executes the JavaScript he sees. If you want your Flask variable to be available in JavaScript as an array, you have to generate an array definition in your output:

<html>
  <head>
    <script>
      var myGeocode = ['{{ geocode[0] }}', '{{ geocode[1] }}'];
    </script>
  </head>
  <body>
    <p>Hello World</p>
    <button onclick="alert('Geocode: ' + myGeocode[0] + ' ' + myGeocode[1])" />
  </body>
</html>

Jinja also offers more advanced constructs from Python, so you can shorten it to:

<html>
<head>
  <script>
    var myGeocode = [{{ ', '.join(geocode) }}];
  </script>
</head>
<body>
  <p>Hello World</p>
  <button onclick="alert('Geocode: ' + myGeocode[0] + ' ' + myGeocode[1])" />
</body>
</html>

You can also use for loops, if statements and many more, see the Jinja2 documentation for more.

Also, have a look at Ford's answer who points out the tojson filter which is an addition to Jinja2's standard set of filters.

Edit Nov 2018: tojson is now included in Jinja2's standard set of filters.

How can you program if you're blind?

What in the world would a braille keyboard even be??

There are such things as braille writers but you would never use one as an input device for a computer.

If you're simply talking about a keyboard with the braille symbols on it this would also be a very bad idea. You're going to have a lot more keys to reach while typing and it would still be slower.

Touch typing is NOT a visual skill, a blind person can do it just as well as a sighted person.

How do you create a toggle button?

As far as I was searching for answer too, and wanted to acomplish it with CSS. I found solution by CSS NINJA It is a nice impelmentation of <input type="checkbox"> and some css Live demo! Although it is not working in IE 8 you could implement selectivizr! and fix CSS where uses opacity to filter to make it work in IE.

Using Environment Variables with Vue.js

If you use vue cli with the Webpack template (default config), you can create and add your environment variables to a .env file.

The variables will automatically be accessible under process.env.variableName in your project. Loaded variables are also available to all vue-cli-service commands, plugins and dependencies.

You have a few options, this is from the Environment Variables and Modes documentation:

.env # loaded in all cases
.env.local # loaded in all cases, ignored by git
.env.[mode] # only loaded in specified mode
.env.[mode].local # only loaded in specified mode, ignored by git

Your .env file should look like this:

VUE_APP_MY_ENV_VARIABLE=value
VUE_APP_ANOTHER_VARIABLE=value

It is my understanding that all you need to do is create the .env file and add your variables then you're ready to go! :)

As noted in comment below: If you are using Vue cli 3, only variables that start with VUE_APP_ will be loaded.

Don't forget to restart serve if it is currently running.

how to use "AND", "OR" for RewriteCond on Apache?

CSS flexbox not working in IE10

As Ennui mentioned, IE 10 supports the -ms prefixed version of Flexbox (IE 11 supports it unprefixed). The errors I can see in your code are:

  • You should have display: -ms-flexbox instead of display: -ms-flex
  • I think you should specify all 3 flex values, like flex: 0 1 auto to avoid ambiguity

So the final updated code is...

.flexbox form {
    display: -webkit-flex;
    display: -moz-flex;
    display: -ms-flexbox;
    display: -o-flex;
    display: flex;

    /* Direction defaults to 'row', so not really necessary to specify */
    -webkit-flex-direction: row;
    -moz-flex-direction: row;
    -ms-flex-direction: row;
    -o-flex-direction: row;
    flex-direction: row;
}

.flexbox form input[type=submit] {
    width: 31px;
}

.flexbox form input[type=text] {
    width: auto;

    /* Flex should have 3 values which is shorthand for
       <flex-grow> <flex-shrink> <flex-basis> */
    -webkit-flex: 1 1 auto;
    -moz-flex: 1 1 auto;
    -ms-flex: 1 1 auto;
    -o-flex: 1 1 auto;
    flex: 1 1 auto;

    /* I don't think you need 'display: flex' on child elements * /
    display: -webkit-flex;
    display: -moz-flex;
    display: -ms-flex;
    display: -o-flex;

See example B on this DBCC SHRINKFILE (Transact-SQL) msdn page for an example, and explanation.

How can one see the structure of a table in SQLite?

.schema TableName

Where TableName is the name of the Table

Copy a variable's value into another

The reason for this is simple. JavaScript uses refereces, so when you assign b = a you are assigning a reference to b thus when updating a you are also updating b

I found this on stackoverflow and will help prevent things like this in the future by just calling this method if you want to do a deep copy of an object.

function clone(obj) {
    // Handle the 3 simple types, and null or undefined
    if (null == obj || "object" != typeof obj) return obj;

    // Handle Date
    if (obj instanceof Date) {
        var copy = new Date();
        copy.setTime(obj.getTime());
        return copy;
    }

    // Handle Array
    if (obj instanceof Array) {
        var copy = [];
        for (var i = 0, len = obj.length; i < len; i++) {
            copy[i] = clone(obj[i]);
        }
        return copy;
    }

    // Handle Object
    if (obj instanceof Object) {
        var copy = {};
        for (var attr in obj) {
            if (obj.hasOwnProperty(attr)) copy[attr] = clone(obj[attr]);
        }
        return copy;
    }

    throw new Error("Unable to copy obj! Its type isn't supported.");

What is an 'undeclared identifier' error and how do I fix it?

I had the same problem with a custom class, which was defined in a namespace. I tried to use the class without the namespace, causing the compiler error "identifier "MyClass" is undefined". Adding

using namespace <MyNamespace>

or using the class like

MyNamespace::MyClass myClass;

solved the problem.

Where do I find old versions of Android NDK?

Google has moved NDK releases to GitHub. Now, the Wiki page contains links to the current stable release, to available betas, and to selected older releases.

Plugin is too old, please update to a more recent version, or set ANDROID_DAILY_OVERRIDE environment variable to

As a side note, I have been getting the same error in completely unrelated situation - after my system clock year setting has been changed (i.e. 2015 -> 2016); changing the clock back to the correct one solved the issue.

Note 1: I'm posting this mainly because I had the exactly same error message, but the working solution proven to be different than just updating the plugin's version (as posted by Jared Burrows).

Note 2: using

classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:+'

can make the plugin version default to newest one. Bear in mind that your build may break on API changes (and is, for that very reason, discouraged by Android API docs), so use this at your own risk only if you're constantly updating the version anyway.

INSERT INTO table1
SELECT 'A string', 5, idTable2 idTable2 FROM table2 WHERE ...

How to add data to DataGridView

My favorite way to do this is with an extension function called 'Map':

public static void Map<T>(this IEnumerable<T> source, Action<T> func)
{
    foreach (T i in source)
        func(i);
}

Then you can add all the rows like so:

X.Map(item => this.dataGridView1.Rows.Add(item.ID, item.Name));

Using Jquery AJAX function with datatype HTML

var datos = $("#id_formulario").serialize();
$.ajax({
    url: "url.php",
    type: "POST",
    dataType: "html",
    data: datos,
    success: function (prueba) {
        alert("funciona!");
    }//FIN SUCCES

});//FIN  AJAX

What is the C# equivalent of NaN or IsNumeric?

I like the extension method, but don't like throwing exceptions if possible. I opted for an extension method taking the best of 2 answers here.

    /// <summary>
    /// Extension method that works out if a string is numeric or not
    /// </summary>
    /// <param name="str">string that may be a number</param>
    /// <returns>true if numeric, false if not</returns>
    public static bool IsNumeric(this String str)
    {
        double myNum = 0;
        if (Double.TryParse(str, out myNum))
        {
            return true;
        }
        return false;
    }

How to add an auto-incrementing primary key to an existing table, in PostgreSQL?

ALTER TABLE test1 ADD COLUMN id SERIAL PRIMARY KEY;

This is all you need to:

  1. Add the id column
  2. Populate it with a sequence from 1 to count(*).
  3. Set it as primary key / not null.

How to disable a particular checkstyle rule for a particular line of code?

In case if you are using checkstyle from qulice mvn plugin (https://github.com/teamed/qulice) you may use the following suppresion:

// @checkstyle <Rulename> (N lines)
... code with violation(s)

or

/**
 * ...
 * @checkstyle <Rulename> (N lines)
 * ...
 */
 ... code with violation(s)

Bootstrap onClick button event

There is no show event in js - you need to bind your button either to the click event:

$('#id').on('click', function (e) {

     //your awesome code here

})

Mind that if your button is inside a form, you may prefer to bind the whole form to the submit event.

Press Keyboard keys using a batch file

Just to be clear, you are wanting to launch a program from a batch file and then have the batch file press keys (in your example, the arrow keys) within that launched program?

If that is the case, you aren't going to be able to do that with simply a ".bat" file as the launched would stop the batch file from continuing until it terminated--

My first recommendation would be to use something like AutoHotkey or AutoIt if possible, simply because they both have active forums where you'd find countless examples of people launching applications and sending key presses not to mention tools to simply "record" what you want to do. However you said this is a work computer and you may not be able to load a 3rd party program.. but you aren't without options.

You can use Windows Scripting Host from something like a .vbs file to launch a program and send keys to that process. If you're running a version of Windows that includes PowerShell 2.0 (Windows XP with Service Pack 3, Windows Vista with Service Pack 1, Windows 7, etc.) you can use Windows Scripting Host as a COM object from your PS script or use VB's Intereact class.

The specifics of how to do it are outside the scope of this answer but you can find numerous examples using the methods I just described by searching on SO or Google.

edit: Just to help you get started you can look here:

  1. Automate tasks with Windows Script Host's SendKeys method

Generating Random Number In Each Row In Oracle Query

If you just use round then the two end numbers (1 and 9) will occur less frequently, to get an even distribution of integers between 1 and 9 then:

SELECT MOD(Round(DBMS_RANDOM.Value(1, 99)), 9) + 1 FROM DUAL

PostgreSQL create table if not exists

Try this:

CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS app_user (
  username varchar(45) NOT NULL,
  password varchar(450) NOT NULL,
  enabled integer NOT NULL DEFAULT '1',
  PRIMARY KEY (username)
)

How to check if a column exists in a SQL Server table?

Do something if column is not existing:

BEGIN
    IF (COL_LENGTH('[dbo].[Table]', 'Column ') IS NULL)
    BEGIN
        //Do something
    END
END;

Do something if column is existing:

BEGIN
    IF (COL_LENGTH('[dbo].[Table]', 'Column ') IS NOT NULL)
    BEGIN
        //Do something
    END
END;

django - get() returned more than one topic

Get is supposed to return, one and exactly one record, to fix this use filter(), and then take first element of the queryset returned to get the object you were expecting from get, also it would be useful to check if atleast one record is returned before taking out the first element to avoid IndexError

Best way to check if MySQL results returned in PHP?

What is more logical then testing the TYPE of the result variable before processing? It is either of type 'boolean' or 'resource'. When you use a boolean for parameter with mysqli_num_rows, a warning will be generated because the function expects a resource.

$result = mysqli_query($dbs, $sql);

if(gettype($result)=='boolean'){ // test for boolean
    if($result){ // returned TRUE, e.g. in case of a DELETE sql
        echo "SQL succeeded";
    } else { // returned FALSE
        echo "Error: " . mysqli_error($dbs);
    }
} else { // must be a resource
    if(mysqli_num_rows($result)){

       // process the data

    }
    mysqli_free_result($result);
 }

Android read text raw resource file

1.First create a Directory folder and name it raw inside the res folder 2.create a .txt file inside the raw directory folder you created earlier and give it any name eg.articles.txt.... 3.copy and paste the text you want inside the .txt file you created"articles.txt" 4.dont forget to include a textview in your main.xml MainActivity.java

@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {

    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
    setContentView(R.layout.activity_gettingtoknowthe_os);

    TextView helloTxt = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.gettingtoknowos);
    helloTxt.setText(readTxt());

    ActionBar actionBar = getSupportActionBar();
    actionBar.hide();//to exclude the ActionBar
}

private String readTxt() {

    //getting the .txt file
    InputStream inputStream = getResources().openRawResource(R.raw.articles);

    ByteArrayOutputStream byteArrayOutputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();

    try {
        int i = inputStream.read();
        while (i != -1) {
            byteArrayOutputStream.write(i);
            i = inputStream.read();
        }
        inputStream.close();

    } catch (IOException e) {
        e.printStackTrace();
    }
    return byteArrayOutputStream.toString();
}

Hope it worked!

How to disable an input box using angular.js

Use ng-disabled or a special CSS class with ng-class

Need to combine lots of files in a directory

If you like to do this for open files on Notepad++, you can use Combine plugin: http://www.scout-soft.com/combine/

Why use getters and setters/accessors?

In languages which don't support "properties" (C++, Java) or require recompilation of clients when changing fields to properties (C#), using get/set methods is easier to modify. For example, adding validation logic to a setFoo method will not require changing the public interface of a class.

In languages which support "real" properties (Python, Ruby, maybe Smalltalk?) there is no point to get/set methods.

How to save Excel Workbook to Desktop regardless of user?

You've mentioned that they each have their own machines, but if they need to log onto a co-workers machine, and then use the file, saving it through "C:\Users\Public\Desktop\" will make it available to different usernames.

Public Sub SaveToDesktop()
    ThisWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="C:\Users\Public\Desktop\" & ThisWorkbook.Name & "_copy", _
    FileFormat:=xlOpenXMLWorkbookMacroEnabled
End Sub

I'm not sure whether this would be a requirement, but may help!

How to refresh a Page using react-route Link

I ended up keeping Link and adding the reload to the Link's onClick event with a timeout like this:

function refreshPage() {
    setTimeout(()=>{
        window.location.reload(false);
    }, 500);
    console.log('page to reload')
}

<Link to={{pathname:"/"}} onClick={refreshPage}>Home</Link>

without the timeout, the refresh function would run first

Timestamp to human readable format

var newDate = new Date();
newDate.setTime(unixtime*1000);
dateString = newDate.toUTCString();

Where unixtime is the time returned by your sql db. Here is a fiddle if it helps.

For example, using it for the current time:

_x000D_
_x000D_
document.write( new Date().toUTCString() );
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

What is REST call and how to send a REST call?

REST is somewhat of a revival of old-school HTTP, where the actual HTTP verbs (commands) have semantic meaning. Til recently, apps that wanted to update stuff on the server would supply a form containing an 'action' variable and a bunch of data. The HTTP command would almost always be GET or POST, and would be almost irrelevant. (Though there's almost always been a proscription against using GET for operations that have side effects, in reality a lot of apps don't care about the command used.)

With REST, you might instead PUT /profiles/cHao and send an XML or JSON representation of the profile info. (Or rather, I would -- you would have to update your own profile. :) That'd involve logging in, usually through HTTP's built-in authentication mechanisms.) In the latter case, what you want to do is specified by the URL, and the request body is just the guts of the resource involved.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Representational_State_Transfer has some details.

MySQL: #126 - Incorrect key file for table

My issue came from a bad query. I referenced a table in FROM the was not referenced in SELECT.

example:

   SELECT t.*,s.ticket_status as `ticket_status`
   FROM tickets_new t, ticket_status s, users u

, users u is what was causing the issue for me. Removing that solved the issue.

For reference this was in a CodeIgniter dev environment.

How to sort the files according to the time stamp in unix?

File modification:

ls -t

Inode change:

ls -tc

File access:

ls -tu

"Newest" one at the bottom:

Publish / Subscribe With jQuery

June 17th, 2008

With a view to writing a jQuery UI integrated with the offline functionality of Google Gears i’ve been toying with some code to poll for network connection status using jQuery.

The Network Detection Object

The basic premise is very simple. We create an instance of a network detection object which will poll a URL at regular intervals. Should these HTTP requests fail we can assume that network connectivity has been lost, or the server is simply unreachable at the current time.

$.networkDetection = function(url,interval){
    var url = url;
    var interval = interval;
    online = false;
    this.StartPolling = function(){
        this.StopPolling();
        this.timer = setInterval(poll, interval);
    };
    this.StopPolling = function(){
        clearInterval(this.timer);
    };
    this.setPollInterval= function(i) {
        interval = i;
    };
    this.getOnlineStatus = function(){
        return online;
    };
    function poll() {
        $.ajax({
            type: "POST",
            url: url,
            dataType: "text",
            error: function(){
                online = false;
                $(document).trigger('status.networkDetection',[false]);
            },
            success: function(){
                online = true;
                $(document).trigger('status.networkDetection',[true]);
            }
        });
    };
};

You can view the demo here. Set your browser to work offline and see what happens…. no, it’s not very exciting.

Trigger and Bind

What is exciting though (or at least what is exciting me) is the method by which the status gets relayed through the application. I’ve stumbled upon a largely un-discussed method of implementing a pub/sub system using jQuery’s trigger and bind methods.

The demo code is more obtuse than it need to be. The network detection object publishes ’status ‘events to the document which actively listens for them and in turn publishes ‘notify’ events to all subscribers (more on those later). The reasoning behind this is that in a real world application there would probably be some more logic controlling when and how the ‘notify’ events are published.

$(document).bind("status.networkDetection", function(e, status){
    // subscribers can be namespaced with multiple classes
    subscribers = $('.subscriber.networkDetection');
    // publish notify.networkDetection even to subscribers
    subscribers.trigger("notify.networkDetection", [status])
    /*
    other logic based on network connectivity could go here
    use google gears offline storage etc
    maybe trigger some other events
    */
});

Because of jQuery’s DOM centric approach events are published to (triggered on) DOM elements. This can be the window or document object for general events or you can generate a jQuery object using a selector. The approach i’ve taken with the demo is to create an almost namespaced approach to defining subscribers.

DOM elements which are to be subscribers are classed simply with “subscriber” and “networkDetection”. We can then publish events only to these elements (of which there is only one in the demo) by triggering a notify event on $(“.subscriber.networkDetection”)

The #notifier div which is part of the .subscriber.networkDetection group of subscribers then has an anonymous function bound to it, effectively acting as a listener.

$('#notifier').bind("notify.networkDetection",function(e, online){
    // the following simply demonstrates
    notifier = $(this);
    if(online){
        if (!notifier.hasClass("online")){
            $(this)
                .addClass("online")
                .removeClass("offline")
                .text("ONLINE");
        }
    }else{
        if (!notifier.hasClass("offline")){
            $(this)
                .addClass("offline")
                .removeClass("online")
                .text("OFFLINE");
        }
    };
});

So, there you go. It’s all pretty verbose and my example isn’t at all exciting. It also doesn’t showcase anything interesting you could do with these methods, but if anyone’s at all interested to dig through the source feel free. All the code is inline in the head of the demo page

Regarding C++ Include another class

C++ (and C for that matter) split the "declaration" and the "implementation" of types, functions and classes. You should "declare" the classes you need in a header-file (.h or .hpp), and put the corresponding implementation in a .cpp-file. Then, when you wish to use (access) a class somewhere, you #include the corresponding headerfile.

Example

ClassOne.hpp:

class ClassOne
{
public:
  ClassOne(); // note, no function body
  int method(); // no body here either
private:
  int member;
};

ClassOne.cpp:

#include "ClassOne.hpp"

// implementation of constructor
ClassOne::ClassOne()
 :member(0)
{}

// implementation of "method"
int ClassOne::method()
{
  return member++;
}

main.cpp:

#include "ClassOne.hpp" // Bring the ClassOne declaration into "view" of the compiler

int main(int argc, char* argv[])
{
  ClassOne c1;
  c1.method();

  return 0;
}

Express-js can't GET my static files, why?

  1. Create a folder with 'public' name in Nodejs project
    folder.
  2. Put index.html file into of Nodejs project folder.
  3. Put all script and css file into public folder.
  4. Use app.use( express.static('public'));

  5. and in index.html correct path of scripts to <script type="text/javascript" src="/javasrc/example.js"></script>

And Now all things work fine.

How do I write a Python dictionary to a csv file?

You are using DictWriter.writerows() which expects a list of dicts, not a dict. You want DictWriter.writerow() to write a single row.

You will also want to use DictWriter.writeheader() if you want a header for you csv file.

You also might want to check out the with statement for opening files. It's not only more pythonic and readable but handles closing for you, even when exceptions occur.

Example with these changes made:

import csv

my_dict = {"test": 1, "testing": 2}

with open('mycsvfile.csv', 'w') as f: # You will need 'wb' mode in Python 2.x
    w = csv.DictWriter(f, my_dict.keys())
    w.writeheader()
    w.writerow(my_dict)

Which produces:

test,testing
1,2

Reset par to the default values at startup

An alternative solution for preventing functions to change the user par. You can set the default parameters early on the function, so that the graphical parameters and layout will not be changed during the function execution. See ?on.exit for further details.

on.exit(layout(1))
opar<-par(no.readonly=TRUE)
on.exit(par(opar),add=TRUE,after=FALSE)

Best way to detect when a user leaves a web page?

For What its worth, this is what I did and maybe it can help others even though the article is old.

PHP:

session_start();

$_SESSION['ipaddress'] = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];

if(isset($_SESSION['userID'])){
    if(!strpos($_SESSION['activeID'], '-')){
        $_SESSION['activeID'] = $_SESSION['userID'].'-'.$_SESSION['activeID'];
    }
}elseif(!isset($_SESSION['activeID'])){
    $_SESSION['activeID'] = time();
}

JS

window.setInterval(function(){
            var userid = '<?php echo $_SESSION['activeID']; ?>';
            var ipaddress = '<?php echo $_SESSION['ipaddress']; ?>';
            var action = 'data';

            $.ajax({
                url:'activeUser.php',
                method:'POST',
                data:{action:action,userid:userid,ipaddress:ipaddress},
                success:function(response){
                     //alert(response);
                }
            });
          }, 5000);

Ajax call to activeUser.php

if(isset($_POST['action'])){
    if(isset($_POST['userid'])){
        $stamp = time();
        $activeid = $_POST['userid'];
        $ip = $_POST['ipaddress'];

        $query = "SELECT stamp FROM activeusers WHERE activeid = '".$activeid."' LIMIT 1";
        $results = RUNSIMPLEDB($query);

        if($results->num_rows > 0){
            $query = "UPDATE activeusers SET stamp = '$stamp' WHERE activeid = '".$activeid."' AND ip = '$ip' LIMIT 1";
            RUNSIMPLEDB($query);
        }else{
            $query = "INSERT INTO activeusers (activeid,stamp,ip)
                    VALUES ('".$activeid."','$stamp','$ip')";
            RUNSIMPLEDB($query);
        }
    }
}

Database:

CREATE TABLE `activeusers` (
  `id` int(11) NOT NULL,
  `activeid` varchar(20) NOT NULL,
  `stamp` int(11) NOT NULL,
  `ip` text
) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8;

Basically every 5 seconds the js will post to a php file that will track the user and the users ip address. Active users are simply a database record that have an update to the database time stamp within 5 seconds. Old users stop updating to the database. The ip address is used just to ensure that a user is unique so 2 people on the site at the same time don't register as 1 user.

Probably not the most efficient solution but it does the job.

ASP.NET MVC Razor render without encoding

Use @Html.Raw() with caution as you may cause more trouble with encoding and security. I understand the use case as I had to do this myself, but carefully... Just avoid allowing all text through. For example only preserve/convert specific character sequences and always encode the rest:

@Html.Raw(Html.Encode(myString).Replace("\n", "<br/>"))

Then you have peace of mind that you haven't created a potential security hole and any special/foreign characters are displayed correctly in all browsers.

How to prevent line breaks in list items using CSS

Bootstrap 4 has a class named text-nowrap. It is just what you need.

CSS transition when class removed

In my case i had some problem with opacity transition so this one fix it:

#dropdown {
    transition:.6s opacity;
}
#dropdown.ns {
    opacity:0;
    transition:.6s all;
}
#dropdown.fade {
    opacity:1;
}

Mouse Enter

$('#dropdown').removeClass('ns').addClass('fade');

Mouse Leave

$('#dropdown').addClass('ns').removeClass('fade');

How to check if object property exists with a variable holding the property name?

You can use hasOwnProperty, but based on the reference you need quotes when using this method:

if (myObj.hasOwnProperty('myProp')) {
    // do something
}

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/Object/hasOwnProperty

Another way is to use in operator, but you need quotes here as well:

if ('myProp' in myObj) {
    // do something
}

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Operators/in

How to Apply Corner Radius to LinearLayout

You would use a Shape Drawable as the layout's background and set its cornerRadius. Check this blog for a detailed tutorial

How to trigger event when a variable's value is changed?

You can use a property setter to raise an event whenever the value of a field is going to change.

You can have your own EventHandler delegate or you can use the famous System.EventHandler delegate.

Usually there's a pattern for this:

  1. Define a public event with an event handler delegate (that has an argument of type EventArgs).
  2. Define a protected virtual method called OnXXXXX (OnMyPropertyValueChanged for example). In this method you should check if the event handler delegate is null and if not you can call it (it means that there are one or more methods attached to the event delegation).
  3. Call this protected method whenever you want to notify subscribers that something has changed.

Here's an example

private int _age;

//#1
public event System.EventHandler AgeChanged;

//#2
protected virtual void OnAgeChanged()
{
     if (AgeChanged != null) AgeChanged(this,EventArgs.Empty);
}

public int Age
{
    get
    {
         return _age;
    }

    set
    {
         //#3
         _age=value;
         OnAgeChanged();
    }
 }

The advantage of this approach is that you let any other classes that want to inherit from your class to change the behavior if necessary.

If you want to catch an event in a different thread that it's being raised you must be careful not to change the state of objects that are defined in another thread which will cause a cross thread exception to be thrown. To avoid this you can either use an Invoke method on the object that you want to change its state to make sure that the change is happening in the same thread that the event has been raised or in case that you are dealing with a Windows Form you can use a BackgourndWorker to do things in a parallel thread nice and easy.

PostgreSQL wildcard LIKE for any of a list of words

You can use Postgres' SIMILAR TO operator which supports alternations, i.e.

select * from table where lower(value) similar to '%(foo|bar|baz)%';

How to store token in Local or Session Storage in Angular 2?

As a general rule, the token should not be stored on the localStorage neither the sessionStorage. Both places are accessible from JS and the JS should not care about the authentication token.

IMHO The token should be stored on a cookie with the HttpOnly and Secure flag as suggested here: https://stormpath.com/blog/where-to-store-your-jwts-cookies-vs-html5-web-storage

HTTP POST and GET using cURL in Linux

I think Amith Koujalgi is correct but also, in cases where the webservice responses are in JSON then it might be more useful to see the results in a clean JSON format instead of a very long string. Just add | grep }| python -mjson.tool to the end of curl commands here is two examples:

GET approach with JSON result

curl -i -H "Accept: application/json" http://someHostName/someEndpoint | grep }| python -mjson.tool

POST approach with JSON result

curl -X POST  -H "Accept: Application/json" -H "Content-Type: application/json" http://someHostName/someEndpoint -d '{"id":"IDVALUE","name":"Mike"}' | grep }| python -mjson.tool

enter image description here

Calling a function from a string in C#

Yes. You can use reflection. Something like this:

Type thisType = this.GetType();
MethodInfo theMethod = thisType.GetMethod(TheCommandString);
theMethod.Invoke(this, userParameters);

Can the Android drawable directory contain subdirectories?

This is not perfect methods. You have to implement same way which is display here.

You can also call the image under the folder through the code you can use

Resources res = getResources();
Drawable shape = res. getDrawable(R.drawable.gradient_box);

TextView tv = (TextView)findViewByID(R.id.textview);
tv.setBackground(shape);

Android Open External Storage directory(sdcard) for storing file

yes, it may work in KITKAT.

above KITKAT+ it will go to internal storage:paths like(storage/emulated/0).

please think, how "Xender app" give permission to write in to external sd card.

So, Fortunately in Android 5.0 and later there is a new official way for apps to write to the external SD card. Apps must ask the user to grant write access to a folder on the SD card. They open a system folder chooser dialog. The user need to navigate into that specific folder and select it.

Firebase (FCM) how to get token

Instead of this:

    // [START refresh_token]
    @Override
    public void onTokenRefresh() {
//        Get updated InstanceID token.
//        String refreshedToken = FirebaseInstanceId.getInstance().getToken();
//        Log.d(TAG, "Refreshed token: " + refreshedToken);
//
// TODO: Implement this method to send any registration to your app's servers.
//        sendRegistrationToServer(refreshedToken);
//
        Intent intent = new Intent(this, RegistrationIntentService.class);
        startService(intent);
    }
    // [END refresh_token]

Do this:

    // [START refresh_token]
    @Override
    public void onTokenRefresh() {
        // Get updated InstanceID token.
        String refreshedToken = FirebaseInstanceId.getInstance().getToken();
//        Log.d(TAG, "Refreshed token: " + refreshedToken);

        // Implement this method to send token to your app's server
       sendRegistrationToServer(refreshedToken);

    }
    // [END refresh_token]

And one more thing:

You need to call sendRegistrationToServer() method which will update token on server, if you are sending push notifications from server.

UPDATE:

New Firebase token is generated (onTokenRefresh() is called) when:

  • The app deletes Instance ID
  • The app is restored on a new device
  • The user uninstalls/reinstall the app
  • The user clears app data.

Permanently hide Navigation Bar in an activity

Change the theme in your manifest.

If you want to hide nav bar for one activity you can use this:

<activity
        android:name="Activity Name"
        android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Black.NoTitleBar"
        android:label="@string/app_name" >

If you want to hide nav bar for entire application you can use this:

<application
    android:allowBackup="true"
    android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher"
    android:label="@string/app_name"
    android:theme="@android:style/Theme.Black.NoTitleBar" >

Symbolicating iPhone App Crash Reports

The combination that worked for me was:

  1. Copy the dSYM file into the directory where the crash report was
  2. Unzip the ipa file containing the app ('unzip MyApp.ipa')
  3. Copy the application binary from the resulting exploded payload into the same folder as the crash report and symbol file (Something like "MyApp.app/MyApp")
  4. Import or Re-symbolicate the crash report from within Xcode's organizer

Using atos I wasn't able to resolve the correct symbol information with the addresses and offsets that were in the crash report. When I did this, I see something more meaningful, and it seems to be a legitimate stack trace.

Compare data of two Excel Columns A & B, and show data of Column A that do not exist in B

Put this in C2 and copy down

=IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(A2,$B$2:$B$65535,1,FALSE)),"not in B","")

Then if the value in A isn't in B the cell in column C will say "not in B".

minimize app to system tray

Handle the form’s Resize event. In this handler, you override the basic functionality of the Resize event to make the form minimize to the system tray and not to the taskbar. This can be done by doing the following in your form’s Resize event handler: Check whether the form’s WindowState property is set to FormWindowState.Minimized. If yes, hide your form, enable the NotifyIcon object, and show the balloon tip that shows some information. Once the WindowState becomes FormWindowState.Normal, disable the NotifyIcon object by setting its Visible property to false. Now, you want the window to reappear when you double click on the NotifyIcon object in the taskbar. For this, handle the NotifyIcon’s MouseDoubleClick event. Here, you show the form using the Show() method.

private void frmMain_Resize(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    if (FormWindowState.Minimized == this.WindowState)
    {
       mynotifyicon.Visible = true;
       mynotifyicon.ShowBalloonTip(500);
       this.Hide();
    }

    else if (FormWindowState.Normal == this.WindowState)
    {
       mynotifyicon.Visible = false;
    }
}

how to query for a list<String> in jdbctemplate

Is there a way to have placeholders, like ? for column names? For example SELECT ? FROM TABLEA GROUP BY ?

Use dynamic query as below:

String queryString = "SELECT "+ colName+ " FROM TABLEA GROUP BY "+ colName;

If I want to simply run the above query and get a List what is the best way?

List<String> data = getJdbcTemplate().query(query, new RowMapper<String>(){
                            public String mapRow(ResultSet rs, int rowNum)
                                                         throws SQLException {
                                    return rs.getString(1);
                            }
                       });

EDIT: To Stop SQL Injection, check for non word characters in the colName as :

          Pattern pattern = Pattern.compile("\\W");
          if(pattern.matcher(str).find()){
               //throw exception as invalid column name
          }

How can I add a key/value pair to a JavaScript object?

Two most used ways already mentioned in most answers

obj.key3 = "value3";

obj["key3"] = "value3";

One more way to define a property is using Object.defineProperty()

Object.defineProperty(obj, 'key3', {
  value: "value3", // undefined by default
  enumerable: true, // false by default
  configurable: true, // false by default
  writable: true // false by default
});

This method is useful when you want to have more control while defining property. Property defined can be set as enumerable, configurable and writable by user.

Should a 502 HTTP status code be used if a proxy receives no response at all?

Yes. Empty or incomplete headers or response body typically caused by broken connections or server side crash can cause 502 errors if accessed via a gateway or proxy.

install beautiful soup using pip

If you have more than one version of python installed, run the respective pip command.

For example for python3.6 run the following

pip3.6 install beautifulsoup4

To check the available command/version of pip and python on Mac run

ls /usr/local/bin

Order discrete x scale by frequency/value

I realize this is old, but maybe this function I created is useful to someone out there:

order_axis<-function(data, axis, column)
{
  # for interactivity with ggplot2
  arguments <- as.list(match.call())
  col <- eval(arguments$column, data)
  ax <- eval(arguments$axis, data)

  # evaluated factors
  a<-reorder(with(data, ax),
             with(data, col))

  #new_data
  df<-cbind.data.frame(data)
  # define new var
  within(df,
         do.call("<-",list(paste0(as.character(arguments$axis),"_o"), a)))
}

Now, with this function you can interactively plot with ggplot2, like this:

ggplot(order_axis(df, AXIS_X, COLUMN_Y),
       aes(x = AXIS_X_o, y = COLUMN_Y)) +
        geom_bar(stat = "identity")

As can be seen, the order_axis function creates another dataframe with a new column named the same but with a _oat the end. This new column has levels in ascending order, so ggplot2 automatically plots in that order.

This is somewhat limited (only works for character or factor and numeric combinations of columns and in ascending order) but I still find it very useful for plotting on the go.

"make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:443" when restarting apache (installing trac and mod_wsgi)

Let me add one more reason for the error. In httpd.conf I included explicitly

Include etc/apache24/extra/httpd-ssl.conf

while did not notice previous wildcard

Include etc/apache24/extra/*.conf

Grepping 443 will not find this.

How to run Nginx within a Docker container without halting?

To add Tomer and Charles answers,

Syntax to run nginx in forground in Docker container using Entrypoint:

Hibernate table not mapped error in HQL query

I had same problem , instead @Entity I used following code for getting records

    List<Map<String, Object>> list = null;
            list = incidentHibernateTemplate.execute(new HibernateCallback<List<Map<String, Object>>>() {

            @Override
            public List<Map<String, Object>> doInHibernate(Session session) throws HibernateException {
                Query query = session.createSQLQuery("SELECT * from table where appcode = :app");
                    query.setParameter("app", apptype);
                query.setResultTransformer(Transformers.ALIAS_TO_ENTITY_MAP);
                return query.list();

                }
            });

I used following code for update

private @Autowired HibernateTemplate incidentHibernateTemplate;
Integer updateCount = 0;

    updateCount = incidentHibernateTemplate.execute((Session session) -> {
        Query<?> query = session
                    .createSQLQuery("UPDATE  tablename SET key = :apiurl, data_mode = :mode WHERE apiname= :api ");
          query.setParameter("apiurl", url);
          query.setParameter("api", api);
          query.setParameter("mode", mode);
            return query.executeUpdate();
        }
    );

Rails 4 Authenticity Token

When you define you own html form then you have to include authentication token string ,that should be sent to controller for security reasons. If you use rails form helper to generate the authenticity token is added to form as follow.

<form accept-charset="UTF-8" action="/login/signin" method="post">
  <div style="display:none">
    <input name="utf8" type="hidden" value="&#x2713;" />
    <input name="authenticity_token" type="hidden" value="x37DrAAwyIIb7s+w2+AdoCR8cAJIpQhIetKRrPgG5VA=">
  </div>
    ...
</form>

So the solution to the problem is either to add authenticity_token field or use rails form helpers rather then compromising security etc.

html5 audio player - jquery toggle click play/pause?

You can call native methods trough trigger in jQuery. Just do this:

$('.play').trigger("play");

And the same for pause: $('.play').trigger("pause");

EDIT: as F... pointed out in the comments, you can do something similar to access properties: $('.play').prop("paused");

How to increase Bootstrap Modal Width?

I had a large grid that needed to be displayed in the modal and just applying the width on body was not working correctly as table was overflowing though it had bootstrap classes on it. I ended up applying same width on modal-body and modal-content :

<!--begin::Modal-->
<div class="modal fade" role="dialog" aria-labelledby="" aria-hidden="true">
    <div class="modal-dialog modal-lg modal-dialog-centered" role="document">
        <div class="modal-content" style="width:980px;">
            <div class="modal-header">
                <h5 class="modal-title" id="">Title</h5>
                <button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close">
                    <span aria-hidden="true" class="la la-remove"></span>
                </button>
            </div>
            <form class="m-form m-form--fit m-form--label-align-right">
                <div class="modal-body" style="width:980px;">
                </div>
                <div class="modal-footer">
                    <button type="button" class="btn btn-brand m-btn" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>

                </div>
            </form>
        </div>
    </div>
</div>

<!--end::Modal-->

Return JSON with error status code MVC

You have to return JSON error object yourself after setting the StatusCode, like so ...

if (BadRequest)
{
    Dictionary<string, object> error = new Dictionary<string, object>();
    error.Add("ErrorCode", -1);
    error.Add("ErrorMessage", "Something really bad happened");
    return Json(error);
}

Another way is to have a JsonErrorModel and populate it

public class JsonErrorModel
{
    public int ErrorCode { get; set;}

    public string ErrorMessage { get; set; }
}

public ActionResult SomeMethod()
{

    if (BadRequest)
    {
        var error = new JsonErrorModel
        {
            ErrorCode = -1,
            ErrorMessage = "Something really bad happened"
        };

        return Json(error);
    }

   //Return valid response
}

Simple way to count character occurrences in a string

Since you're scanning the whole string anyway you can build a full character count and do any number of lookups, all for the same big-Oh cost (n):

public static Map<Character,Integer> getCharFreq(String s) {
  Map<Character,Integer> charFreq = new HashMap<Character,Integer>();
  if (s != null) {
    for (Character c : s.toCharArray()) {
      Integer count = charFreq.get(c);
      int newCount = (count==null ? 1 : count+1);
      charFreq.put(c, newCount);
    }
  }
  return charFreq;
}

// ...
String s = "abdsd3$asda$asasdd$sadas";
Map counts = getCharFreq(s);
counts.get('$'); // => 3
counts.get('a'); // => 7
counts.get('s'); // => 6

Making an iframe responsive

I noticed that leowebdev's post did seem to work on my end, however, it did knock out two elements of the site that I am trying to make: the scrolling and the footer.

The scrolling I got back by adding a scrolling="yes" To the iframe embed code.

I am not sure if the footer is automatically knocked out because of the responsiveness or not, but hopefully someone else knows that answer.

Create a batch file to run an .exe with an additional parameter

Found another solution for the same. It will be more helpful.

START C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Test\"Test Automation"\finger.exe ConfigFile="C:\Users\PCName\Desktop\Automation\Documents\Validation_ZoneWise_Default.finger.Config"

finger.exe is a parent program that is calling config solution. Note: if your path folder name consists of spaces, then do not forget to add "".

what is the difference between uint16_t and unsigned short int incase of 64 bit processor?

uint16_t is unsigned 16-bit integer.

unsigned short int is unsigned short integer, but the size is implementation dependent. The standard only says it's at least 16-bit (i.e, minimum value of UINT_MAX is 65535). In practice, it usually is 16-bit, but you can't take that as guaranteed.

Note:

  1. If you want a portable unsigned 16-bit integer, use uint16_t.
  2. inttypes.h and stdint.h are both introduced in C99. If you are using C89, define your own type.
  3. uint16_t may not be provided in certain implementation(See reference below), but unsigned short int is always available.

Reference: C11(ISO/IEC 9899:201x) §7.20 Integer types

For each type described herein that the implementation provides) shall declare that typedef name and define the associated macros. Conversely, for each type described herein that the implementation does not provide, shall not declare that typedef name nor shall it define the associated macros. An implementation shall provide those types described as ‘‘required’’, but need not provide any of the others (described as ‘optional’’).

Java: Rotating Images

Sorry, but all the answers are difficult to understand for me as a beginner in graphics...

After some fiddling, this is working for me and it is easy to reason about.

@Override
public void draw(Graphics2D g) {
    AffineTransform tr = new AffineTransform();
    // X and Y are the coordinates of the image
    tr.translate((int)getX(), (int)getY());
    tr.rotate(
            Math.toRadians(this.rotationAngle),
            img.getWidth() / 2,
            img.getHeight() / 2
    );

    // img is a BufferedImage instance
    g.drawImage(img, tr, null);
}

I suppose that if you want to rotate a rectangular image this method wont work and will cut the image, but I thing you should create square png images and rotate that.

In [21]: my_func(5)
nested2 has 5 and it can reach to 8
Out[21]: 13

This is an example of what a closure is and how it can be used.

How can I write data in YAML format in a file?

Link to the PyYAML documentation showing the difference for the default_flow_style parameter. To write it to a file in block mode (often more readable):

What's the difference between dependencies, devDependencies and peerDependencies in npm package.json file?

peerDependencies didn't quite make sense for me until I read this snippet from a blog post on the topic Ciro mentioned above:

What [plugins] need is a way of expressing these “dependencies” between plugins and their host package. Some way of saying, “I only work when plugged in to version 1.2.x of my host package, so if you install me, be sure that it’s alongside a compatible host.” We call this relationship a peer dependency.

The plugin does expect a specific version of the host...

peerDependencies are for plugins, libraries that require a "host" library to perform their function, but may have been written at a time before the latest version of the host was released.

That is, if I write PluginX v1 for HostLibraryX v3 and walk away, there's no guarantee PluginX v1 will work when HostLibraryX v4 (or even HostLibraryX v3.0.1) is released.

... but the plugin doesn't depend on the host...

From the point of view of the plugin, it only adds functions to the host library. I don't really "need" the host to add a dependency to a plugin, and plugins often don't literally depend on their host. If you don't have the host, the plugin harmlessly does nothing.

This means dependencies isn't really the right concept for plugins.

Even worse, if my host was treated like a dependency, we'd end up in this situation that the same blog post mentions (edited a little to use this answer's made up host & plugin):

But now, [if we treat the contemporary version of HostLibraryX as a dependency for PluginX,] running npm install results in the unexpected dependency graph of

+-- [email protected]
+-- [email protected]
  +-- [email protected]

I’ll leave the subtle failures that come from the plugin using a different [HostLibraryX] API than the main application to your imagination.

... and the host obviously doesn't depend on the plugin...

... that's the whole point of plugins. Now if the host was nice enough to include dependency information for all of its plugins, that'd solve the problem, but that'd also introduce a huge new cultural problem: plugin management!

The whole point of plugins is that they can pair up anonymously. In a perfect world, having the host manage 'em all would be neat & tidy, but we're not going to require libraries herd cats.

If we're not hierarchically dependent, maybe we're intradependent peers...

Instead, we have the concept of being peers. Neither host nor plugin sits in the other's dependency bucket. Both live at the same level of the dependency graph.

... but this is not an automatable relationship. <<< Moneyball!!!

If I'm PluginX v1 and expect a peer of (that is, have a peerDependency of) HostLibraryX v3, I'll say so. If you've auto-upgraded to the latest HostLibraryX v4 (note that's version 4) AND have Plugin v1 installed, you need to know, right?

npm can't manage this situation for me --

"Hey, I see you're using PluginX v1! I'm automatically downgrading HostLibraryX from v4 to v3, kk?"

... or...

"Hey I see you're using PluginX v1. That expects HostLibraryX v3, which you've left in the dust during your last update. To be safe, I'm automatically uninstalling Plugin v1!!1!

How about no, npm?!

So npm doesn't. It alerts you to the situation, and lets you figure out if HostLibraryX v4 is a suitable peer for Plugin v1.

Coda

Good peerDependency management in plugins will make this concept work more intuitively in practice. From the blog post, yet again...

One piece of advice: peer dependency requirements, unlike those for regular dependencies, should be lenient. You should not lock your peer dependencies down to specific patch versions. It would be really annoying if one Chai plugin peer-depended on Chai 1.4.1, while another depended on Chai 1.5.0, simply because the authors were lazy and didn’t spend the time figuring out the actual minimum version of Chai they are compatible with.

Authentication issues with WWW-Authenticate: Negotiate

The web server is prompting you for a SPNEGO (Simple and Protected GSSAPI Negotiation Mechanism) token.

This is a Microsoft invention for negotiating a type of authentication to use for Web SSO (single-sign-on):

Java 8 Distinct by property

Late to the party but I sometimes use this one-liner as an equivalent:

((Function<Value, Key>) Value::getKey).andThen(new HashSet<>()::add)::apply

The expression is a Predicate<Value> but since the map is inline, it works as a filter. This is of course less readable but sometimes it can be helpful to avoid the method.

Efficient way to add spaces between characters in a string

Should do it.

Recursive Fibonacci

My solution is:

#include <iostream>

    int fib(int number);

    void call_fib(void);

    int main()
    {
    call_fib();
    return 0;
    }

    void call_fib(void)
    {
      int input;
      std::cout<<"enter a number\t";
      std::cin>> input;
      if (input <0)
      {
        input=0;
        std::cout<<"that is not a valid input\n"   ;
        call_fib();
     }
     else
     {
         std::cout<<"the "<<input <<"th fibonacci number is "<<fib(input);
     }

    }

    int fib(int x)
    {
     if (x==0){return 0;}
     else if (x==2 || x==1)
    {
         return 1;
    }

    else if (x>0)
   {
        return fib(x-1)+fib(x-2);
    }
    else
     return -1;
    }

it returns fib(0)=0 and error if negitive

How to write std::string to file?

You're currently writing the binary data in the string-object to your file. This binary data will probably only consist of a pointer to the actual data, and an integer representing the length of the string.

If you want to write to a text file, the best way to do this would probably be with an ofstream, an "out-file-stream". It behaves exactly like std::cout, but the output is written to a file.

The following example reads one string from stdin, and then writes this string to the file output.txt.

#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <iostream>

int main()
{
    std::string input;
    std::cin >> input;
    std::ofstream out("output.txt");
    out << input;
    out.close();
    return 0;
}

Note that out.close() isn't strictly neccessary here: the deconstructor of ofstream can handle this for us as soon as out goes out of scope.

For more information, see the C++-reference: http://cplusplus.com/reference/fstream/ofstream/ofstream/

Now if you need to write to a file in binary form, you should do this using the actual data in the string. The easiest way to acquire this data would be using string::c_str(). So you could use:

write.write( studentPassword.c_str(), sizeof(char)*studentPassword.size() );

how to add values to an array of objects dynamically in javascript?

In Year 2019, we can use Javascript's ES6 Spread syntax to do it concisely and efficiently

data = [...data, {"label": 2, "value": 13}]

Examples

_x000D_
_x000D_
var data = [_x000D_
      {"label" : "1", "value" : 12},_x000D_
      {"label" : "1", "value" : 12},_x000D_
      {"label" : "1", "value" : 12},_x000D_
    ];_x000D_
    _x000D_
data = [...data, {"label" : "2", "value" : 14}] _x000D_
console.log(data)
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

For your case (i know it was in 2011), we can do it with map() & forEach() like below

_x000D_
_x000D_
var lab = ["1","2","3","4"];_x000D_
var val = [42,55,51,22];_x000D_
_x000D_
//Using forEach()_x000D_
var data = [];_x000D_
val.forEach((v,i) => _x000D_
   data= [...data, {"label": lab[i], "value":v}]_x000D_
)_x000D_
_x000D_
//Using map()_x000D_
var dataMap = val.map((v,i) => _x000D_
 ({"label": lab[i], "value":v})_x000D_
)_x000D_
_x000D_
console.log('data: ', data);_x000D_
console.log('dataMap : ', dataMap);
_x000D_
_x000D_

Set Radiobuttonlist Selected from Codebehind

You could do:

radio1.SelectedIndex = 1;

But this is the most simple form and would most likely become problematic as your UI grows. Say, for instance, if a team member inserts an item in the RadioButtonList above option2 but doesn't know we use magic numbers in code-behind to select - now the app selects the wrong index!

Maybe you want to look into using FindControl in order to determine the ListItem actually required, by name, and selecting appropriately. For instance:

//omitting possible null reference checks...
var wantedOption = radio1.FindControl("option2").Selected = true;

Quickly getting to YYYY-mm-dd HH:MM:SS in Perl

Try this:

use POSIX qw/strftime/;
print strftime('%Y-%m-%d',localtime);

the strftime method does the job effectively for me. Very simple and efficient.

Download image with JavaScript

As @Ian explained, the problem is that jQuery's click() is not the same as the native one.

Therefore, consider using vanilla-js instead of jQuery:

var a = document.createElement('a');
a.href = "img.png";
a.download = "output.png";
document.body.appendChild(a);
a.click();
document.body.removeChild(a);

Is it possible to change the location of packages for NuGet?

The solution proposed in release notes for 2.1 doesn't work out-of-the-box. They forgot to mention that there is code:

internal string ResolveInstallPath()
{
    if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(this.OutputDirectory))
    {
        return this.OutputDirectory;
    }
    ISettings settings = this._configSettings;

    ...
}

which prevents it from working. To fix this you need to modify your NuGet.targets file and remove 'OutputDirectory' parameter:

    <RestoreCommand>$(NuGetCommand) install "$(PackagesConfig)" -source "$(PackageSources)"  $(RequireConsentSwitch)</RestoreCommand>

So now, if you add 'repositoryPath' config somewhere in NuGet.config (see the release notes for a description of valid places to put the config files), it will restore all packages into single location, but... Your .csproj still contains hints to assemblies written as relative paths...

I still don't understand why they went hard way instead of changing PackageManager so it would add hint paths relative to PackagesDir. That's the way I do manually to have different package locations locally (on my desktop) and on build agent.
