Populating spinner directly in the layout xml

Question

Is it possible to populate the options of a Spinner right in the layout xml  This page suggests I should use an ArrayAdapter  It seems awkward not being able to do it

I m not sure about this  but give it a shot   In your strings xml define    lt string-array name  array name  gt   lt item gt Array Item One lt  item gt   lt item gt Array Item Two lt  item gt   lt item gt Array Item Three lt  item gt   lt  string-array gt    In your layout    lt Spinner          android id    id spinner          android layout width  fill parent          android layout height  wrap content          android drawSelectorOnTop  true          android entries   array array name        gt    I ve heard this doesn t always work on the designer  but it compiles fine
