How to use the ProGuard in Android Studio?

Try renaming your 'proguard-rules.txt' file to 'proguard-android.txt' and remove the reference to 'proguard-rules.txt' in your gradle file. The getDefaultProguardFile(...) call references a different default proguard file, one provided by Google and not that in your project. So remove this as well, so that here the gradle file reads:

The 'json' native gem requires installed build tools

I believe those installers make changes to the path. Did you try closing and re-opening the CMD window after running them and before the last attempt to install the gem that wants devkit present?

Also, be sure you are using the right devkit installer for your version of Ruby. The documentation at devkit wiki page has a requirements note saying:

For RubyInstaller versions 1.8.7, 1.9.2, and 1.9.3 use the DevKit 4.5.2

All the class center-block does is to tell the element to have a margin of 0 auto, the auto being the left/right margins. However, unless the class text-center or css text-align:center; is set on the parent, the element does not know the point to work out this auto calculation from so will not center itself as anticipated.

I finally could figure the issue out.

To get the Key Alias: I copied the keytool.exe and my keystore file into C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_71\bin folder. Then from command prompt I wrote: keytool -list -v -keystore <name>.keystore It will also ask for keystore password then. Then it will show you the key alias and Certificate fingerprints and other info.

Then I again tried to Generate Signed Apk for the project, I provided keystore, keystore password, key alias and provided the same password. Then it asks for master password, I tried with the same and it failed. With the reset option I reset the master password here.

I had the same problem. To fix it in Jboss 7 AS, I copy the oracle driver jar file to Jboss module folder. Example: ../jboss-as-7.1.1.Final/modules/org/hibernate/main.

As far as I can tell, this is currently not possible - a cast is always needed.

To make it possible, the .d.ts of react would need to be modified so that the signature of the onChange of a SELECT element used a new SelectFormEvent. The new event type would expose target, which exposes value. Then the code could be typesafe.

Otherwise there will always be the need for a cast to any.

I could encapsulate all that in a MYSELECT tag.

Twitter now has a sass-ready version of bootstrap with gem included, so it is easier than ever to add it to Rails.

Simply add to your gemfile the following:

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the use of this in the event handler. It works automatically in modern browsers and can be made to work in other browsers. If you use addEventListener or attachEvent to install your event handler, then you can make the value of this automatically be assigned to the object the created the event.

Further, the user of programmatically installed event handlers allows you to separate javascript code from HTML which is often considered a good thing.

Here's how you would do that in your code in plain javascript:

Remove the onmouseover="zoom()" from your HTML and install the event handler in your javascript like this:

Android Emulator sdcard push error: Read-only file system

Maybe it sounds stupid but it worked for me when I had the same problem: delete the created avd and create one again through AVD Manager with a sd card of, for example, 512MB.

Check that both have the correct permissions and if not, try to change them with chmod.

And if everything still fails, repeat the process but creating both avd and sd card manually via terminal:

android create avd -n my_avd -t 7
mksdcard -l e 512M mysdcard.img
emulator -avd my_avd -sdcard mysdcard.img

You can't access the http headers, but some of the information provided in them is available in the DOM. For example, if you want to see the http referer (sic), use document.referrer. There may be others like this for other http headers. Try googling the specific thing you want, like "http referer javascript".

I know this should be obvious, but I kept searching for stuff like "http headers javascript" when all I really wanted was the referer, and didn't get any useful results. I don't know how I didn't realize I could make a more specific query.

A regex for version number parsing

It seems pretty hard to have a regex that does exactly what you want (i.e. accept only the cases that you need and reject all others and return some groups for the three components). I've give it a try and come up with this:

IMO (I've not tested extensively) this should work fine as a validator for the input, but the problem is that this regex doesn't offer a way of retrieving the components. For that you still have to do a split on period.

This solution is not all-in-one, but most times in programming it doesn't need to. Of course this depends on other restrictions that you might have in your code.

So, JavaScript is single-threaded. If you're not making an asynchronous call, it will behave predictably. The main JavaScript thread will execute one function completely before executing the next one, in the order they appear in the code. Guaranteeing order for synchronous functions is trivial - each function will execute completely in the order it was called.

Think of the synchronous function as an atomic unit of work. The main JavaScript thread will execute it fully, in the order the statements appear in the code.

But, throw in the asynchronous call, as in the following situation:

showLoadingDiv(); // function 1

makeAjaxCall(); // function 2 - contains async ajax call

hideLoadingDiv(); // function 3

This doesn't do what you want. It instantaneously executes function 1, function 2, and function 3. Loading div flashes and it's gone, while the ajax call is not nearly complete, even though makeAjaxCall() has returned. THE COMPLICATION is that makeAjaxCall() has broken its work up into chunks which are advanced little by little by each spin of the main JavaScript thread - it's behaving asychronously. But that same main thread, during one spin/run, executed the synchronous portions quickly and predictably.

So, the way I handled it: Like I said the function is the atomic unit of work. I combined the code of function 1 and 2 - I put the code of function 1 in function 2, before the asynch call. I got rid of function 1. Everything up to and including the asynchronous call executes predictably, in order.

THEN, when the asynchronous call completes, after several spins of the main JavaScript thread, have it call function 3. This guarantees the order. For example, with ajax, the onreadystatechange event handler is called multiple times. When it reports it's completed, then call the final function you want.

I agree it's messier. I like having code be symmetric, I like having functions do one thing (or close to it), and I don't like having the ajax call in any way be responsible for the display (creating a dependency on the caller). BUT, with an asynchronous call embedded in a synchronous function, compromises have to be made in order to guarantee order of execution. And I have to code for IE 10 so no promises.

Summary: For synchronous calls, guaranteeing order is trivial. Each function executes fully in the order it was called. For a function with an asynchronous call, the only way to guarantee order is to monitor when the async call completes, and call the third function when that state is detected.

If so, no need to PasteSpecial since you are copying data at exactly the same format.

How to upsert (update or insert) in SQL Server 2005

You can check if the row exists, and then INSERT or UPDATE, but this guarantees you will be performing two SQL operations instead of one:

  1. check if row exists
  2. insert or update row

A better solution is to always UPDATE first, and if no rows were updated, then do an INSERT, like so:

To be really certain if you need to do an UPDATE or INSERT, you have to do two operations within a single TRANSACTION. Theoretically, right after the first UPDATE or INSERT (or even the EXISTS check), but before the next INSERT/UPDATE statement, the database could have changed, causing the second statement to fail anyway. This is exceedingly rare, and the overhead for transactions may not be worth it.

Alternately, you can use a single SQL operation called MERGE to perform either an INSERT or an UPDATE, but that's also probably overkill for this one-row operation.

Passing an Array as Arguments, not an Array, in PHP

As has been mentioned, as of PHP 5.6+ you can (should!) use the ... token (aka "splat operator", part of the variadic functions functionality) to easily call a function with an array of arguments:

(Just remember that doing this it MUST be the last parameter you define and that it bundles all parameters passed to the function into the array.)

You were on the right track with response.getOutputStream(), but you're not using its output anywhere in your code. Essentially what you need to do is to stream the PDF file's bytes directly to the output stream and flush the response. In Spring you can do it like this:

While gcc 3.2.3 was more forgiving of the issue, gcc 4.1.2 is highlighting a potentially serious issue for the linking of your program later. Rather then trying to suppress the error you should make the forward declaration match the function declaration.

If you intended for the function to be globally available (as per the forward declaration) then don't subsequently declare it as static. Likewise if it's indented to be locally scoped then make the forward declaration static to match.

I had a similar problem. None of the answers helped. In my case, I had two removed remote repositories showing up permanently.

My last idea was to remove all references to it by hand.

Let's say the repository is called “Repo”. I did:

find .git -name Repo 

So, I deleted the corresponding files and directories from the .git folder (this folder could be found in your Rails app or on your computer https://stackoverflow.com/a/19538763/6638513).

Then I did:

grep Repo -r .git

This found some text files in which I removed the corresponding lines. Now, everything seems to be fine.

Usually, you should leave this job to git.

AttributeError: 'dict' object has no attribute 'predictors'

The dict.items iterates over the key-value pairs of a dictionary. Therefore for key, value in dictionary.items() will loop over each pair. This is documented information and you can check it out in the official web page, or even easier, open a python console and type help(dict.items). And now, just as an example:

The AttributeError is an exception thrown when an object does not have the attribute you tried to access. The class dict does not have any predictors attribute (now you know where to check it :) ), and therefore it complains when you try to access it. As easy as that.

How to use OpenSSL to encrypt/decrypt files?

As mentioned in the other answers, previous versions of openssl used a weak key derivation function to derive an AES encryption key from the password. However, openssl v1.1.1 supports a stronger key derivation function, where the key is derived from the password using pbkdf2 with a randomly generated salt, and multiple iterations of sha256 hashing (10,000 by default).

To encrypt a file:

It is about string concatenation performance. It's potentially significant if your have dense logging statements.

(Prior to SLF4J 1.7) But only two parameters are possible

Because the vast majority of logging statements have 2 or fewer parameters, so SLF4J API up to version 1.6 covers (only) the majority of use cases. The API designers have provided overloaded methods with varargs parameters since API version 1.7.

For those cases where you need more than 2 and you're stuck with pre-1.7 SLF4J, then just use either string concatenation or new Object[] { param1, param2, param3, ... }. There should be few enough of them that the performance is not as important.

I would be careful when using Guava's ComparisonChain because it creates an instance of it per element been compared so you would be looking at a creation of N x Log N comparison chains just to compare if you are sorting, or N instances if you are iterating and checking for equality.

I would instead create a static Comparator using the newest Java 8 API if possible or Guava's Ordering API which allows you to do that, here is an example with Java 8:

Although my experience with DFD diagrams is limited I can tell you that a DFD shows you how the data moves (flows) between the various modules. Furthermore a DFD can be partitioned in levels, that is in the Initial Level you see the system (say, a System to Rent a Movie) as a whole (called the Context Level). That level could be broken down into another Level that contains activities (say, rent a movie, return a movie) and how the data flows into those activities (could be a name, number of days, whatever). Now you can make a sublevel for each activity detailing the many tasks or scenarios of those activities. And so on, so forth. Remember that the data is always passing between levels.

Now as for the flowchart just remember that a flowchart describes an algorithm!

Define "necessary".

It is necessary if you want the browser to know what the type of the file is. PHP automatically sets the Content-Type header to text/html if you don't override it so your browser is treating it as an HTML file that doesn't contain any HTML. If your output contained any HTML you'd see very different outcomes. If you were to send:

  • Checked: strong typing. GenSet knows explicitly what type of objects it contains (i.e. its constructor was explicitly called with a Class<E> argument, and methods will throw an exception when they are passed arguments that are not of type E. See Collections.checkedCollection.

You can use the phpmyadmin setup page (./phpmyadmin/setup) to generate a new config file (config.inc.php) for you. This file is found at the root of the phpMyAdmin directory.

Just create the config folder as prompted in setup page, add your servers, then click the 'Save' button. This will create a new config file in the config folder you just created.

You now have only to move the config.inc.php file to the main phpMyAdmin folder, or just copy the lines concerning the servers if you got some old configuration done already you'd like to keep.

In my case, "Sept8" in a csv file generated using R was converted into "8-Sept" by Excel 2013. The problem was solved by using write.xlsx2() function in the xlsx package to generate the output file in xlsx format, which can be loaded by Excel without unwanted conversion. (If you're only weeding out filenames based on suffixes, you can shorten this to $FILE instead.)

  3. From the Java 11 BigDecimal docs:

When a MathContext object is supplied with a precision setting of 0 (for example, MathContext.UNLIMITED), arithmetic operations are exact, as are the arithmetic methods which take no MathContext object. (This is the only behavior that was supported in releases prior to 5.)

As a corollary of computing the exact result, the rounding mode setting of a MathContext object with a precision setting of 0 is not used and thus irrelevant. In the case of divide, the exact quotient could have an infinitely long decimal expansion; for example, 1 divided by 3.

basically just go to the maven site. Find the version of maven you want. The file type and use the mirror for the wget statement above.

Afterwards the process is easy

  1. Run the wget command from the dir you want to extract maven too.
  2. run the following to extract the tar,

    tar xvf apache-maven-3.0.5-bin.tar.gz
    
  3. move maven to /usr/local/apache-maven

    mv apache-maven-3.0.5  /usr/local/apache-maven
    
  4. Next add the env variables to your ~/.bashrc file

  3. Select the "User Entries" and click the "Advanced" button on the right side.
  4. Now select the "Add External folder" radio button.
  5. Select the resources folder

Adding my answers for a couple of reasons:

  • Somehow none of the answers listed directly resolved my problem.
  • I couldn't find "Enable dependency management" under Maven. I'm using Eclipse 4.4.2 build on Wed, 4 Feb 2015.

What helped me was another option under Maven called as "Update Project" and then when I click it this window opens which has a checkbox that says "Force update of Snapshot/Releases". Printing with "\t" (tabs) does not result in aligned columns

The length of the text that you are providing in each line is different, this is the problem, so if the second word is too long (see2.txt is long 8 char which corresponds to a single tab lenght) it prints out a tab which goes to the next tabulation point. One way to solve it is to programmatically add a pad to the f.getName() text so each text generated: see.txt or see2.txt has the same lenght (for example see.txt_ and see2.txt) so each tab automatically goes to the same tabulation point.

If you are developing with JDK 1.5 you can solve this using java.util.Formatter:

GUID has longstanding usage in areas where it isn't necessarily a 128-bit value in the same way as a UUID. For example, the RSS specification defines GUIDs to be any string of your choosing, as long as it's unique, with an "isPermalink" attribute to specify that the value you're using is just a permalink back to the item being syndicated.

Laravel Check If Related Model Exists

A Relation object passes unknown method calls through to an Eloquent query Builder, which is set up to only select the related objects. That Builder in turn passes unknown method calls through to its underlying query Builder.

This means you can use the exists() or count() methods directly from a relation object:

$model->relation()->exists(); // bool: true if there is at least one row
$model->relation()->count(); // int: number of related rows

Note the parentheses after relation: ->relation() is a function call (getting the relation object), as opposed to ->relation which a magic property getter set up for you by Laravel (getting the related object/objects).

Using the count method on the relation object (that is, using the parentheses) will be much faster than doing $model->relation->count() or count($model->relation) (unless the relation has already been eager-loaded) since it runs a count query rather than pulling all of the data for any related objects from the database, just to count them. Likewise, using exists doesn't need to pull model data either.

Both exists() and count() work on all relation types I've tried, so at least belongsTo, hasOne, hasMany, and belongsToMany.

Why not just set add path to to the bin of the app. For MacVim, I did the following.

An alias, is another option I tried.

With the export PATH I can call all of the commands in the app. Arguments passed well for my test with MacVim. Whereas the alias, I had to alias each command in the bin.

What does "Could not find or load main class" mean?

I was unable to solve this problem with the solutions stated here (although the answer stated has, no doubt, cleared my concepts). I faced this problem two times and each time I have tried different solutions (in the Eclipse IDE).

  • Firstly, I have come across with multiple main methods in different classes of my project. So, I had deleted the main method from subsequent classes.
  • Secondly, I tried following solution:
    1. Right click on my main project directory.
    2. Head to source then clean up and stick with the default settings and on Finish. After some background tasks you will be directed to your main project directory.
    3. After that I close my project, reopen it, and boom, I finally solved my problem.

Sending JSON to PHP using ajax

Lose the contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",. You're not sending JSON to the server, you're sending a normal POST query (that happens to contain a JSON string).

That should make what you have work.

Thing is, you don't need to use JSON.stringify or json_decode here at all. Just do:

Cannot install Aptana Studio 3.6 on Windows

It seems having msysgit (Git for Windows) installed is causing the problem.

In most cases you'll have a pretty recent version of Git for Windows installed. Cited from https://code.google.com/p/tortoisegit/:

But it seems Aptana Studio Installer won't accept any pre-installed version of Git for Windows!

What you need to do:

  1. Uninstall Git for Windows.
  2. Install Aptana Studio.
    Apanta Studio 3.6.1 will install Git for Windows 1.8.4-preview20130916.
  3. Download latest version of Git for Windows from http://msysgit.github.io/.
  4. Install latest version of Git for Windows.
    The outdated Git for Windows 1.8.4-preview20130916 will be updated to recent version.

Java: Multiple class declarations in one file

My suggested name for this technique (including multiple top-level classes in a single source file) would be "mess". Seriously, I don't think it's a good idea - I'd use a nested type in this situation instead. Then it's still easy to predict which source file it's in. I don't believe there's an official term for this approach though.

As for whether this actually changes between implementations - I highly doubt it, but if you avoid doing it in the first place, you'll never need to care :)

I had a similar issue and I had to delete everything from the bin and obj folders and rebuild to get past my issue. Hope this helps.

In Python, how do you convert a `datetime` object to seconds?

For the special date of January 1, 1970 there are multiple options.

For any other starting date you need to get the difference between the two dates in seconds. Subtracting two dates gives a timedelta object, which as of Python 2.7 has a total_seconds() function.

>>> (t-datetime.datetime(1970,1,1)).total_seconds()
1256083200.0

The starting date is usually specified in UTC, so for proper results the datetime you feed into this formula should be in UTC as well. If your datetime isn't in UTC already, you'll need to convert it before you use it, or attach a tzinfo class that has the proper offset.

As noted in the comments, if you have a tzinfo attached to your datetime then you'll need one on the starting date as well or the subtraction will fail; for the example above I would add tzinfo=pytz.utc if using Python 2 or tzinfo=timezone.utc if using Python 3.

eclipse stuck when building workspace

I just had the same problem.

By using Task Manager to kill the build process and exiting Eclipse with no projects open, I was able to get back into Eclipse and clean the project without opening it. I then restarted Eclipse again,loaded my project and all OK.

You didn't hear it from me, the PM for Razor, but in Razor 2 (Web Pages 2 and MVC 4) we'll have conditional attributes built into Razor(as of MVC 4 RC tested successfully), so you can just say things like this...

The iOS Simulator deployment targets is set to 7.0, but the range of supported deployment target version for this platform is 8.0 to 12.1

Instead of specifying a deployment target in pod post install, you can delete the pod deployment target, which causes the deployment target to be inherited from the podfile platform.

How to pass an object from one activity to another on Android

Use gson to convert your object to JSON and pass it through intent. In the new Activity convert the JSON to an object.

In your build.gradle, add this to your dependencies

implementation 'com.google.code.gson:gson:2.8.4'

In your Activity, convert the object to json-string:

Sounds like more work than its worth.

1) Why not just have a single JavaScript variable that stores a reference to the currently selected element\jQuery object.

2) Why not add a class to the currently selected element. Then you could query the DOM for the ".active" class or something.

Storing with json or serialized array is the best solution for now. With some situations (trimming " ' characters) json might be getting trouble but serialize should be great choice.

Note: If you change serialized data manually, you need to be careful about character count.

You can use the selectInstances method in Eclipse Collections. This will involved creating a new collection however so will not be as efficient as the accepted solution which uses casting.

Are the files on the same server as the PHP script? If so, just keep the files out of the web root and make sure your PHP script has read permissions for wherever they're stored.
