Revert to a commit by a SHA hash in Git?

This might work:

git checkout 56e05f
echo ref: refs/heads/master > .git/HEAD
git commit

fork and exec in bash

Use the ampersand just like you would from the shell.

#!/usr/bin/bash
function_to_fork() {
   ...
}

# ... execution continues in parent process ...

Overwriting txt file in java

Add one more line after initializing file object

File fnew = new File("../playlist/" + existingPlaylist.getText() + ".txt");
fnew.createNewFile();

How to read the post request parameters using JavaScript

POST variables are only available to the browser if that same browser sent them in the first place. If another website form submits via POST to another URL, the browser will not see the POST data come in.

SITE A: has a form submit to an external URL (site B) using POST SITE B: will receive the visitor but with only GET variables

What is the equivalent to a JavaScript setInterval/setTimeout in Android/Java?

Depending on what you actually want to achieve, you should take a look at Android Handlers:

http://developer.android.com/reference/android/os/Handler.html

If you previously used javascript setTimeout() etc to schedule a task to run in the future, this is the Android way of doing it (postDelayed / sendMessageDelayed).

Note that neither Handlers or Timers makes an Android phone wake up from sleep mode. In other words, if you want to schedule something to actually happen even though the screen is off / cpu is sleeping, you need to check out the AlarmManager too.

Uncaught SyntaxError: Failed to execute 'querySelector' on 'Document'

You are allowed to use IDs that start with a digit in your HTML5 documents:

The value must be unique amongst all the IDs in the element's home subtree and must contain at least one character. The value must not contain any space characters.

There are no other restrictions on what form an ID can take; in particular, IDs can consist of just digits, start with a digit, start with an underscore, consist of just punctuation, etc.

But querySelector method uses CSS3 selectors for querying the DOM and CSS3 doesn't support ID selectors that start with a digit:

In CSS, identifiers (including element names, classes, and IDs in selectors) can contain only the characters [a-zA-Z0-9] and ISO 10646 characters U+00A0 and higher, plus the hyphen (-) and the underscore (_); they cannot start with a digit, two hyphens, or a hyphen followed by a digit.

Use a value like b22 for the ID attribute and your code will work.

Since you want to select an element by ID you can also use .getElementById method:

document.getElementById('22')

Read url to string in few lines of java code

Here's Jeanne's lovely answer, but wrapped in a tidy function for muppets like me:

private static String getUrl(String aUrl) throws MalformedURLException, IOException
{
    String urlData = "";
    URL urlObj = new URL(aUrl);
    URLConnection conn = urlObj.openConnection();
    try (BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(conn.getInputStream(), StandardCharsets.UTF_8)))
    {
        urlData = reader.lines().collect(Collectors.joining("\n"));
    }
    return urlData;
}

Circular dependency in Spring

Constructor Injection fails when there is Circular Dependency between spring beans. So in this case we Setter injection helps to resolve the issue.

Basically, Constructor Injection is useful for Mandatory dependencies, for optional dependencies better to use Setter injection because we can do re-injection.

Best solution to protect PHP code without encryption

They distribute their software under a proprietary license. The law protects their rights and prevents their customers from redistributing the source, though there is no actual difficulty doing so.

But as you might be well aware, copyright infringement (piracy) of software products is a pretty common phenomenon.

Altering user-defined table types in SQL Server

If you can use a Database project in Visual Studio, you can make your changes in the project and use schema compare to synchronize the changes to your database.

This way, dropping and recreating the dependent objects is handled by the change script.

I get Access Forbidden (Error 403) when setting up new alias

I'm using XAMPP with Apache2.4, I had this same issue. I wanted to leave the default xampp/htdocs folder in place, be able to access it from locahost and have a Virtual Host to point to my dev area...

The full contents of my C:\xampp\apache\conf\extra\http-vhosts.conf file is below...

# Virtual Hosts
#
# Required modules: mod_log_config

# If you want to maintain multiple domains/hostnames on your
# machine you can setup VirtualHost containers for them. Most configurations
# use only name-based virtual hosts so the server doesn't need to worry about
# IP addresses. This is indicated by the asterisks in the directives below.
#
# Please see the documentation at
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/vhosts/>
# for further details before you try to setup virtual hosts.
#
# You may use the command line option '-S' to verify your virtual host
# configuration.

#
# Use name-based virtual hosting.
#

##NameVirtualHost *:80

#
# VirtualHost example:
# Almost any Apache directive may go into a VirtualHost container.
# The first VirtualHost section is used for all requests that do not
# match a ##ServerName or ##ServerAlias in any <VirtualHost> block.
#
##<VirtualHost *:80>
    ##ServerAdmin [email protected]
    ##DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs/dummy-host.example.com"
    ##ServerName dummy-host.example.com
    ##ServerAlias www.dummy-host.example.com
    ##ErrorLog "logs/dummy-host.example.com-error.log"
    ##CustomLog "logs/dummy-host.example.com-access.log" common
##</VirtualHost>

##<VirtualHost *:80>
    ##ServerAdmin [email protected]
    ##DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/htdocs/dummy-host2.example.com"
    ##ServerName dummy-host2.example.com
    ##ErrorLog "logs/dummy-host2.example.com-error.log"
    ##CustomLog "logs/dummy-host2.example.com-access.log" common
##</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:80>
    DocumentRoot "C:\xampp\htdocs"
    ServerName localhost
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:80>
    DocumentRoot "C:\nick\static"
    ServerName dev.middleweek.co.uk
    <Directory "C:\nick\static">
        Allow from all
        Require all granted
    </Directory>
</VirtualHost>

I then updated my C:\windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file like this...

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
#      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
#       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#   127.0.0.1       localhost
#   ::1             localhost

127.0.0.1   dev.middleweek.co.uk
127.0.0.1       localhost

Restart your machine for good measure, open the XAMPP Control Panel and start Apache.

Now open your custom domain in your browser, in the above example, it'll be http://dev.middleweek.co.uk

Hope that helps someone!

And if you want to be able to view directory listings under your new Virtual host, then edit your VirtualHost block in C:\xampp\apache\conf\extra\http-vhosts.conf to include "Options Indexes" like this...

<VirtualHost *:80>
    DocumentRoot "C:\nick\static"
    ServerName dev.middleweek.co.uk
    <Directory "C:\nick\static">
        Allow from all
        Require all granted
        Options Indexes
    </Directory>
</VirtualHost>

Cheers, Nick

C++ float array initialization

No, it sets all members/elements that haven't been explicitly set to their default-initialisation value, which is zero for numeric types.

MySQL - how to front pad zip code with "0"?

CHAR(5)

or

MEDIUMINT (5) UNSIGNED ZEROFILL

The first takes 5 bytes per zip code.

The second takes only 3 bytes per zip code. The ZEROFILL option is necessary for zip codes with leading zeros.

How do I check if a string contains another string in Objective-C?

Since this seems to be a high-ranking result in Google, I want to add this:

iOS 8 and OS X 10.10 add the containsString: method to NSString. An updated version of Dave DeLong's example for those systems:

NSString *string = @"hello bla bla";
if ([string containsString:@"bla"]) {
    NSLog(@"string contains bla!");
} else {
    NSLog(@"string does not contain bla");
}

Does MySQL ignore null values on unique constraints?

Avoid nullable unique constraints. You can always put the column in a new table, make it non-null and unique and then populate that table only when you have a value for it. This ensures that any key dependency on the column can be correctly enforced and avoids any problems that could be caused by nulls.

Replace Default Null Values Returned From Left Outer Join

In case of MySQL or SQLite the correct keyword is IFNULL (not ISNULL).

 SELECT iar.Description,
      IFNULL(iai.Quantity,0) as Quantity,
      IFNULL(iai.Quantity * rpl.RegularPrice,0) as 'Retail',
      iar.Compliance
    FROM InventoryAdjustmentReason iar
    LEFT OUTER JOIN InventoryAdjustmentItem iai on (iar.Id = iai.InventoryAdjustmentReasonId)
    LEFT OUTER JOIN Item i on (i.Id = iai.ItemId)
    LEFT OUTER JOIN ReportPriceLookup rpl on (rpl.SkuNumber = i.SkuNo)
WHERE iar.StoreUse = 'yes'

Automatically create an Enum based on values in a database lookup table?

Using dynamic enums is bad no matter which way. You will have to go through the trouble of "duplicating" the data to ensure clear and easy code easy to maintain in the future.

If you start introducing automatic generated libraries, you are for sure causing more confusion to future developers having to upgrade your code than simply making your enum coded within the appropriate class object.

The other examples given sound nice and exciting, but think about the overhead on code maintenance versus what you get from it. Also, are those values going to change that frequently?

"Could not find acceptable representation" using spring-boot-starter-web

You have no public getters for your UpdateResult, for example :

public static class UploadResult {
    private String value;
    public UploadResult(final String value)
    {
        this.value = value;
    }

    public String getValue() {
       return this.value;
    }
}

I believe by default auto discovery is on and will try to discover your getters. You can disable it with @JsonAutoDetect(getterVisibility=Visibility.NONE), and in your example will result in [].

Check div is hidden using jquery

You can use,

if (!$("#car-2").is(':visible'))
{
      alert('car 2 is hidden');
}

Byte Array to Image object

From Database.
Blob blob = resultSet.getBlob("pictureBlob");
byte [] data = blob.getBytes( 1, ( int ) blob.length() );
BufferedImage img = null;
try {
img = ImageIO.read(new ByteArrayInputStream(data));
} catch (IOException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
}
drawPicture(img);  //  void drawPicture(Image img);

Change the color of cells in one column when they don't match cells in another column

  1. Select your range from cell A (or the whole columns by first selecting column A). Make sure that the 'lighter coloured' cell is A1 then go to conditional formatting, new rule:

    enter image description here

  2. Put the following formula and the choice of your formatting (notice that the 'lighter coloured' cell comes into play here, because it is being used in the formula):

    =$A1<>$B1

    enter image description here

  3. Then press OK and that should do it.

JSON parsing using Gson for Java

You can create corresponding java classes for the json objects. The integer, string values can be mapped as is. Json can be parsed like this-

Gson gson = new GsonBuilder().create();
Response r = gson.fromJson(jsonString, Response.class);

Here is an example- http://rowsandcolumns.blogspot.com/2013/02/url-encode-http-get-solr-request-and.html

Hibernate Union alternatives

I have to agree with Vladimir. I too looked into using UNION in HQL and couldn't find a way around it. The odd thing was that I could find (in the Hibernate FAQ) that UNION is unsupported, bug reports pertaining to UNION marked 'fixed', newsgroups of people saying that the statements would be truncated at UNION, and other newsgroups of people reporting it works fine... After a day of mucking with it, I ended up porting my HQL back to plain SQL, but doing it in a View in the database would be a good option. In my case, parts of the query were dynamically generated, so I had to build the SQL in the code instead.

Python Threading String Arguments

I hope to provide more background knowledge here.

First, constructor signature of the of method threading::Thread:

class threading.Thread(group=None, target=None, name=None, args=(), kwargs={}, *, daemon=None)

args is the argument tuple for the target invocation. Defaults to ().

Second, A quirk in Python about tuple:

Empty tuples are constructed by an empty pair of parentheses; a tuple with one item is constructed by following a value with a comma (it is not sufficient to enclose a single value in parentheses).

On the other hand, a string is a sequence of characters, like 'abc'[1] == 'b'. So if send a string to args, even in parentheses (still a sting), each character will be treated as a single parameter.

However, Python is so integrated and is not like JavaScript where extra arguments can be tolerated. Instead, it throws an TypeError to complain.

How to check if a Constraint exists in Sql server?

IF (OBJECT_ID('FK_ChannelPlayerSkins_Channels') IS NOT NULL)

Error : No resource found that matches the given name (at 'icon' with value '@drawable/icon')

Found this question. I was importing an old project into android studio and got the error.

The issue was eventually answered for me here mipmap drawables for icons

In the manifest it has

<application
    android:allowBackup="true"
    android:icon="@drawable/ic_launcher"
...

but @drawable has been superseded by @mipmap so needed changing to:

<application
    android:allowBackup="true"
    android:icon="@mipmap/ic_launcher"
...

I put this answer here, as it may become a more common issue.

How do I pass named parameters with Invoke-Command?

My solution to this was to write the script block dynamically with [scriptblock]:Create:

# Or build a complex local script with MARKERS here, and do substitutions
# I was sending install scripts to the remote along with MSI packages
# ...for things like Backup and AV protection etc.

$p1 = "good stuff"; $p2 = "better stuff"; $p3 = "best stuff"; $etc = "!"
$script = [scriptblock]::Create("MyScriptOnRemoteServer.ps1 $p1 $p2 $etc")
#strings get interpolated/expanded while a direct scriptblock does not

# the $parms are now expanded in the script block itself
# ...so just call it:
$result = invoke-command $computer -script $script

Passing arguments was very frustrating, trying various methods, e.g.,
-arguments, $using:p1, etc. and this just worked as desired with no problems.

Since I control the contents and variable expansion of the string which creates the [scriptblock] (or script file) this way, there is no real issue with the "invoke-command" incantation.

(It shouldn't be that hard. :) )

Differences between Html.TextboxFor and Html.EditorFor in MVC and Razor

The Html.TextboxFor always creates a textbox (<input type="text" ...).

While the EditorFor looks at the type and meta information, and can render another control or a template you supply.

For example for DateTime properties you can create a template that uses the jQuery DatePicker.

What is a Subclass

It is a class that extends another class.

example taken from https://www.java-tips.org/java-se-tips-100019/24-java-lang/784-what-is-a-java-subclass.html, Cat is a sub class of Animal :-)

public class Animal {

    public static void hide() {
        System.out.println("The hide method in Animal.");
    }

    public void override() {
        System.out.println("The override method in Animal.");
    }
}

public class Cat extends Animal {

    public static void hide() {
        System.out.println("The hide method in Cat.");
    }

    public void override() {
        System.out.println("The override method in Cat.");
    }

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        Cat myCat = new Cat();
        Animal myAnimal = (Animal)myCat;
        myAnimal.hide();
        myAnimal.override();
    }
}

What is the purpose of the word 'self'?

When objects are instantiated, the object itself is passed into the self parameter.

enter image description here

Because of this, the object’s data is bound to the object. Below is an example of how you might like to visualize what each object’s data might look. Notice how ‘self’ is replaced with the objects name. I'm not saying this example diagram below is wholly accurate but it hopefully with serve a purpose in visualizing the use of self.

enter image description here

The Object is passed into the self parameter so that the object can keep hold of its own data.

Although this may not be wholly accurate, think of the process of instantiating an object like this: When an object is made it uses the class as a template for its own data and methods. Without passing it's own name into the self parameter, the attributes and methods in the class would remain as a general template and would not be referenced to (belong to) the object. So by passing the object's name into the self parameter it means that if 100 objects are instantiated from the one class, they can all keep track of their own data and methods.

See the illustration below:

MaxLength Attribute not generating client-side validation attributes

Try using the [StringLength] attribute:

[Required(ErrorMessage = "Name is required.")]
[StringLength(40, ErrorMessage = "Name cannot be longer than 40 characters.")]
public string Name { get; set; }

That's for validation purposes. If you want to set for example the maxlength attribute on the input you could write a custom data annotations metadata provider as shown in this post and customize the default templates.

Fixing Sublime Text 2 line endings?

The comment states

// Determines what character(s) are used to terminate each line in new files.
// Valid values are 'system' (whatever the OS uses), 'windows' (CRLF) and

You should set

"default_line_ending": "unix",

Multiple scenarios @RequestMapping produces JSON/XML together with Accept or ResponseEntity

I've preferred using the params filter for parameter-centric content-type.. I believe that should work in conjunction with the produces attribute.

@GetMapping(value="/person/{id}/",
            params="format=json",
            produces=MediaType.APPLICATION_JSON_VALUE)
public ResponseEntity<Person> getPerson(@PathVariable Integer id){
    Person person = personMapRepository.findPerson(id);
    return ResponseEntity.ok(person);
}
@GetMapping(value="/person/{id}/",
            params="format=xml",
            produces=MediaType.APPLICATION_XML_VALUE)
public ResponseEntity<Person> getPersonXML(@PathVariable Integer id){
    return GetPerson(id); // delegate
}

Print an integer in binary format in Java

System.out.println(Integer.toBinaryString(343));

.htaccess or .htpasswd equivalent on IIS?

There isn't a direct 1:1 equivalent.

You can password protect a folder or file using file system permissions. If you are using ASP.Net you can also use some of its built in functions to protect various urls.

If you are trying to port .htaccess files used for url rewriting, check out ISAPI Rewrite: http://www.isapirewrite.com/

JDBC connection failed, error: TCP/IP connection to host failed

The error is self explanatory:

  • Check if your SQL server is actually up and running
  • Check SQL server hostname, username and password is correct
  • Check there's no firewall rule blocking TCP connection to port 1433
  • Check the host is actually reachable

A good check I often use is to use telnet, eg on a windows command prompt run:

telnet 127.0.0.1 1433

If you get a blank screen it indicates network connection established successfully, and it's not a network problem. If you get 'Could not open connection to the host' then this is network problem

Java: JSON -> Protobuf & back conversion

We are currently using protobuf-java-format to convert our Protobuf messages (anything subclass of Message) into a JSON format to send over our web API.

Simply do:

Formatting NSDate into particular styles for both year, month, day, and hour, minute, seconds

you can use this method just pass your date to it

-(NSString *)getDateFromString:(NSString *)string
{

    NSString * dateString = [NSString stringWithFormat: @"%@",string];

    NSDateFormatter* dateFormatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init];
    [dateFormatter setDateFormat:@"your current date format"];
    NSDate* myDate = [dateFormatter dateFromString:dateString];

    NSDateFormatter *formatter = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init];
    [formatter setDateFormat:@"your desired format"];
    NSString *stringFromDate = [formatter stringFromDate:myDate];

    NSLog(@"%@", stringFromDate);
    return stringFromDate;
}

Django set field value after a form is initialized

Since you're not passing in POST data, I'll assume that what you are trying to do is set an initial value that will be displayed in the form. The way you do this is with the initial keyword.

form = CustomForm(initial={'Email': GetEmailString()})

See the Django Form docs for more explanation.

If you are trying to change a value after the form was submitted, you can use something like:

if form.is_valid():
    form.cleaned_data['Email'] = GetEmailString()

Check the referenced docs above for more on using cleaned_data

accessing a variable from another class

I had the same problem. In order to modify variables from different classes, I made them extend the class they were to modify. I also made the super class's variables static so they can be changed by anything that inherits them. I also made them protected for more flexibility.

How to display full (non-truncated) dataframe information in html when converting from pandas dataframe to html?

The following code results in the error below:

FutureWarning: Passing a negative integer is deprecated in version 1.0 and will not be supported in future version. Instead, use None to not limit the column width.

Instead, use:

This accomplishes the task and complies with versions of pandas following version 1.0.

Soft keyboard open and close listener in an activity in Android

Solution with extra property in Activity\Fragment, but without any hypothetical hardcoded heights (like 100 etc) . Just add OnGlobalLayoutListener to your root view and save its initial height before keyboard will be shown:

C# Error: Parent does not contain a constructor that takes 0 arguments

You need to change your child's constructor to:

public child(int i) : base(i)
{
    // etc...
}

You were getting the error because your parent class's constructor takes a parameter but you are not passing that parameter from the child to the parent.

Constructors are not inherited in C#, you have to chain them manually.

how to query child objects in mongodb

Assuming your "states" collection is like:

{"name" : "Spain", "cities" : [ { "name" : "Madrid" }, { "name" : null } ] }
{"name" : "France" }

The query to find states with null cities would be:

db.states.find({"cities.name" : {"$eq" : null, "$exists" : true}});

It is a common mistake to query for nulls as:

db.states.find({"cities.name" : null});

because this query will return all documents lacking the key (in our example it will return Spain and France). So, unless you are sure the key is always present you must check that the key exists as in the first query.

TortoiseSVN Error: "OPTIONS of 'https://...' could not connect to server (...)"

I got this error too when I had my server as an exception for the proxy in the SVN config file like this: http-proxy-exceptions = *.repo.domain.com

The solution for me was to use the svn server IP instead of the name. For some reason the name was not getting properly resolved from Eclipse Juno - Subclipse and from TortoiseSVN.

So, what worked for me: http-proxy-exceptions = XXX.XX.X.X (the server IP)

Difference between map, applymap and apply methods in Pandas

Adding to the other answers, in a Series there are also map and apply.

Apply can make a DataFrame out of a series; however, map will just put a series in every cell of another series, which is probably not what you want.

In [40]: p=pd.Series([1,2,3])
In [41]: p
Out[31]:
0    1
1    2
2    3
dtype: int64

In [42]: p.apply(lambda x: pd.Series([x, x]))
Out[42]:
   0  1
0  1  1
1  2  2
2  3  3

In [43]: p.map(lambda x: pd.Series([x, x]))
Out[43]:
0    0    1
1    1
dtype: int64
1    0    2
1    2
dtype: int64
2    0    3
1    3
dtype: int64
dtype: object

Also if I had a function with side effects, such as "connect to a web server", I'd probably use apply just for the sake of clarity.

series.apply(download_file_for_every_element)

Map can use not only a function, but also a dictionary or another series. Let's say you want to manipulate permutations.

Take

1 2 3 4 5
2 1 4 5 3

The square of this permutation is

1 2 3 4 5
1 2 5 3 4

You can compute it using map. Not sure if self-application is documented, but it works in 0.15.1.

In [39]: p=pd.Series([1,0,3,4,2])

In [40]: p.map(p)
Out[40]:
0    0
1    1
2    4
3    2
4    3
dtype: int64

Should I URL-encode POST data?

Above posts answers questions related to URL Encoding and How it works, but the original questions was "Should I URL-encode POST data?" which isn't answered.

From my recent experience with URL Encoding, I would like to extend the question further. "Should I URL-encode POST data, same as GET HTTP method. Generally, HTML Forms over the Browser if are filled, submitted and/or GET some information, Browsers will do URL Encoding but If an application exposes a web-service and expects Consumers to do URL-Encoding on data, is it Architecturally and Technically correct to do URL Encode with POST HTTP method ?"

Convert ArrayList to String array in Android

Use the method "toArray()"

ArrayList<String>  mStringList= new ArrayList<String>();
mStringList.add("ann");
mStringList.add("john");
Object[] mStringArray = mStringList.toArray();

for(int i = 0; i < mStringArray.length ; i++){
    Log.d("string is",(String)mStringArray[i]);
}

or you can do it like this: (mentioned in other answers)

ArrayList<String>  mStringList= new ArrayList<String>();
mStringList.add("ann");
mStringList.add("john");
String[] mStringArray = new String[mStringList.size()];
mStringArray = mStringList.toArray(mStringArray);

for(int i = 0; i < mStringArray.length ; i++){
    Log.d("string is",(String)mStringArray[i]);
}

Deleting records before a certain date

This helped me delete data based on different attributes. This is dangerous so make sure you back up database or the table before doing it:

mysqldump -h hotsname -u username -p password database_name > backup_folder/backup_filename.txt

Now you can perform the delete operation:

delete from table_name where column_name < DATE_SUB(NOW() , INTERVAL 1 DAY)

This will remove all the data from before one day. For deleting data from before 6 months:

delete from table_name where column_name < DATE_SUB(NOW() , INTERVAL 6 MONTH)

Angular - Set headers for every request

There were some changes for angular 2.0.1 and higher:

    import {RequestOptions, RequestMethod, Headers} from '@angular/http';
    import { BrowserModule } from '@angular/platform-browser';
    import { HttpModule }     from '@angular/http';
    import { AppRoutingModule } from './app.routing.module';
    import { AppComponent }  from './app.component';

    //you can move this class to a better place
    class GlobalHttpOptions extends RequestOptions {
        constructor() {
          super({
            method: RequestMethod.Get,
            headers: new Headers({
              'MyHeader': 'MyHeaderValue',
            })
          });
        }
      }

    @NgModule({

      imports: [ BrowserModule, HttpModule, AppRoutingModule ],
      declarations: [ AppComponent],

      providers:    [ { provide: RequestOptions, useClass: GlobalHttpOptions} ]
    })

    export class AppModule { }

Bootstrap 3 with remote Modal

Here's my solution (leveraging a few above) that makes use of BS3's own structure to re-instate the old remote loading behaviour. It should be seamless.

I'm going to keep the code variable heavy and descriptive to keep things understandable. I'm also assuming the presence of JQuery. Javascript heavy lifter types will handily streamline the code.

For reference here's a link that invokes a BS3 modal:

<li><a data-toggle="modal" href="terms.html" data-target="#terms">Terms of Use</a></li>

In youre Javascript you're going to need the following.

// Make sure the DOM elements are loaded and accounted for
$(document).ready(function() {

  // Match to Bootstraps data-toggle for the modal
  // and attach an onclick event handler
  $('a[data-toggle="modal"]').on('click', function(e) {

    // From the clicked element, get the data-target arrtibute
    // which BS3 uses to determine the target modal
    var target_modal = $(e.currentTarget).data('target');
    // also get the remote content's URL
    var remote_content = e.currentTarget.href;

    // Find the target modal in the DOM
    var modal = $(target_modal);
    // Find the modal's <div class="modal-body"> so we can populate it
    var modalBody = $(target_modal + ' .modal-body');

    // Capture BS3's show.bs.modal which is fires
    // immediately when, you guessed it, the show instance method
    // for the modal is called
    modal.on('show.bs.modal', function () {
            // use your remote content URL to load the modal body
            modalBody.load(remote_content);
        }).modal();
        // and show the modal

    // Now return a false (negating the link action) to prevent Bootstrap's JS 3.1.1
    // from throwing a 'preventDefault' error due to us overriding the anchor usage.
    return false;
  });
});

We're just about there. One thing you may want to do is style the modal body with a max-height, so that long content will scroll.

In your CSS, you'll need the following:

.modal-body{
    max-height: 300px;
    overflow-y: scroll;
}

Just for refference I'll include the modal's HTML, which is a knock-off of every Bootsrap Modal Example you've ever seen:

<div id="terms" class="modal fade">
  <div class="modal-dialog">
    <div class="modal-content">
      <div class="modal-header">
        <button type="button" class="close" data-dismiss="modal" aria-hidden="true">&times;</button>
        <h3 id="termsLabel" class="modal-title">TERMS AND CONDITIONS</h3>
      </div>
      <div class="modal-body">
      </div>
      <div class="modal-footer">
        <button type="button" class="btn btn-default" data-dismiss="modal">Close</button>
      </div>
    </div><!-- /.modal-content -->
  </div><!-- /.modal-dialog -->
</div><!-- /.modal -->

Backup a single table with its data from a database in sql server 2008

Another approach you can take if you need to back up a single table out of multiple tables in a database is:

  1. Generate script of specific table(s) from a database (Right-click database, click Task > Generate Scripts...

  2. Run the script in the query editor. You must change/add the first line (USE DatabaseName) in the script to a new database, to avoid getting the "Database already exists" error.

  3. Right-click on the newly created database, and click on Task > Back Up... The backup will contain the selected table(s) from the original database.

JQuery get data from JSON array

You need to iterate both the groups and the items. $.each() takes a collection as first parameter and data.response.venue.tips.groups.items.text tries to point to a string. Both groups and items are arrays.

Verbose version:

$.getJSON(url, function (data) {

    // Iterate the groups first.
    $.each(data.response.venue.tips.groups, function (index, value) {

        // Get the items
        var items = this.items; // Here 'this' points to a 'group' in 'groups'

        // Iterate through items.
        $.each(items, function () {
            console.log(this.text); // Here 'this' points to an 'item' in 'items'
        });
    });
});

Or more simply:

$.getJSON(url, function (data) {
    $.each(data.response.venue.tips.groups, function (index, value) {
        $.each(this.items, function () {
            console.log(this.text);
        });
    });
});

In the JSON you specified, the last one would be:

$.getJSON(url, function (data) {
    // Get the 'items' from the first group.
    var items = data.response.venue.tips.groups[0].items;

    // Find the last index and the last item.
    var lastIndex = items.length - 1;
    var lastItem = items[lastIndex];

    console.log("User: " + lastItem.user.firstName + " " + lastItem.user.lastName);
    console.log("Date: " + lastItem.createdAt);
    console.log("Text: " + lastItem.text);
});

This would give you:

align images side by side in html

I suggest to use a container for each img p like this:

<div class="image123">
    <div style="float:left;margin-right:5px;">
        <img src="/images/tv.gif" height="200" width="200"  />
        <p style="text-align:center;">This is image 1</p>
    </div>
    <div style="float:left;margin-right:5px;">
        <img class="middle-img" src="/images/tv.gif/" height="200" width="200" />
        <p style="text-align:center;">This is image 2</p>
    </div>
    <div style="float:left;margin-right:5px;">
        <img src="/images/tv.gif/" height="200" width="200" />
        <p style="text-align:center;">This is image 3</p>
    </div>
</div>

Then apply float:left to each container. I add and 5px margin right so there is a space between each image. Also alway close your elements. Maybe in html img tag is not important to close but in XHTML is.

fiddle

Also a friendly advice. Try to avoid inline styles as much as possible. Take a look here:

html

<div class="image123">
    <div>
        <img src="/images/tv.gif" />
        <p>This is image 1</p>
    </div>
    <div>
        <img class="middle-img" src="/images/tv.gif/" />
        <p>This is image 2</p>
    </div>
    <div>
        <img src="/images/tv.gif/" />
        <p>This is image 3</p>
    </div>
</div>

css

div{
    float:left;
    margin-right:5px;
}

div > img{
   height:200px;
    width:200px;
}

p{
    text-align:center;
}

It's generally recommended that you use linked style sheets because:

  • They can be cached by browsers for performance
  • Generally a lot easier to maintain for a development perspective

diff to output only the file names

The approach of running diff -qr old/ new/ has one major drawback: it may miss files in newly created directories. E.g. in the example below the file data/pages/playground/playground.txt is not in the output of diff -qr old/ new/ whereas the directory data/pages/playground/ is (search for playground.txt in your browser to quickly compare). I also posted the following solution on Unix & Linux Stack Exchange, but I'll copy it here as well:

To create a list of new or modified files programmatically the best solution I could come up with is using rsync, sort, and uniq:

(rsync -rcn --out-format="%n" old/ new/ && rsync -rcn --out-format="%n" new/ old/) | sort | uniq

Let me explain with this example: we want to compare two dokuwiki releases to see which files were changed and which ones were newly created.

We fetch the tars with wget and extract them into the directories old/ and new/:

wget http://download.dokuwiki.org/src/dokuwiki/dokuwiki-2014-09-29d.tgz
wget http://download.dokuwiki.org/src/dokuwiki/dokuwiki-2014-09-29.tgz
mkdir old && tar xzf dokuwiki-2014-09-29.tgz -C old --strip-components=1
mkdir new && tar xzf dokuwiki-2014-09-29d.tgz -C new --strip-components=1

Running rsync one way might miss newly created files as the comparison of rsync and diff shows here:

rsync -rcn --out-format="%n" old/ new/

yields the following output:

VERSION
doku.php
conf/mime.conf
inc/auth.php
inc/lang/no/lang.php
lib/plugins/acl/remote.php
lib/plugins/authplain/auth.php
lib/plugins/usermanager/admin.php

Running rsync only in one direction misses the newly created files and the other way round would miss deleted files, compare the output of diff:

diff -qr old/ new/

yields the following output:

Files old/VERSION and new/VERSION differ
Files old/conf/mime.conf and new/conf/mime.conf differ
Only in new/data/pages: playground
Files old/doku.php and new/doku.php differ
Files old/inc/auth.php and new/inc/auth.php differ
Files old/inc/lang/no/lang.php and new/inc/lang/no/lang.php differ
Files old/lib/plugins/acl/remote.php and new/lib/plugins/acl/remote.php differ
Files old/lib/plugins/authplain/auth.php and new/lib/plugins/authplain/auth.php differ
Files old/lib/plugins/usermanager/admin.php and new/lib/plugins/usermanager/admin.php differ

Running rsync both ways and sorting the output to remove duplicates reveals that the directory data/pages/playground/ and the file data/pages/playground/playground.txt were missed initially:

(rsync -rcn --out-format="%n" old/ new/ && rsync -rcn --out-format="%n" new/ old/) | sort | uniq

yields the following output:

VERSION
conf/mime.conf
data/pages/playground/
data/pages/playground/playground.txt
doku.php
inc/auth.php
inc/lang/no/lang.php
lib/plugins/acl/remote.php
lib/plugins/authplain/auth.php
lib/plugins/usermanager/admin.php

rsync is run with theses arguments:

  • -r to "recurse into directories",
  • -c to also compare files of identical size and only "skip based on checksum, not mod-time & size",
  • -n to "perform a trial run with no changes made", and
  • --out-format="%n" to "output updates using the specified FORMAT", which is "%n" here for the file name only

The output (list of files) of rsync in both directions is combined and sorted using sort, and this sorted list is then condensed by removing all duplicates with uniq

Oracle "ORA-01008: not all variables bound" Error w/ Parameters

You might also consider removing the need for duplicated parameter names in your Sql by changing your Sql to

table.Variable2 LIKE '%' || :VarB || '%'

and then getting your client to provide '%' for any value of VarB instead of null. In some ways I think this is more natural.

You could also change the Sql to

table.Variable2 LIKE '%' || IfNull(:VarB, '%') || '%'

Could not autowire field:RestTemplate in Spring boot application

Error points directly that RestTemplate bean is not defined in context and it cannot load the beans.

  1. Define a bean for RestTemplate and then use it
  2. Use a new instance of the RestTemplate

If you are sure that the bean is defined for the RestTemplate then use the following to print the beans that are available in the context loaded by spring boot application

ApplicationContext ctx = SpringApplication.run(Application.class, args);
String[] beanNames = ctx.getBeanDefinitionNames();
Arrays.sort(beanNames);
for (String beanName : beanNames) {
    System.out.println(beanName);
}

If this contains the bean by the name/type given, then all good. Or else define a new bean and then use it.

Merging two CSV files using Python

You need to store all of the extra rows in the files in your dictionary, not just one of them:

dict1 = {row[0]: row[1:] for row in r}
...
dict2 = {row[0]: row[1:] for row in r}

Then, since the values in the dictionaries are lists, you need to just concatenate the lists together:

w.writerows([[key] + dict1.get(key, []) + dict2.get(key, []) for key in keys])

SELECT * FROM games WHERE games.published_gm = 1 AND YEAR(addedon_gm) = YEAR(NOW()) AND MONTH(addedon_gm) = MONTH(NOW()) AND DAY(addedon_gm) = DAY(NOW()) ORDER BY addedon_gm DESC;

For Weekly added posts:

WEEKOFYEAR(addedon_gm) = WEEKOFYEAR(NOW())

For Monthly added posts:

MONTH(addedon_gm) = MONTH(NOW())

For Yearly added posts:

YEAR(addedon_gm) = YEAR(NOW())

you'll get the accurate results where show only the games added today, otherwise you may display: "No New Games Found For Today". Using ShowIF recordset is empty transaction.

batch file Copy files with certain extensions from multiple directories into one directory

Just use the XCOPY command with recursive option

xcopy c:\*.doc k:\mybackup /sy

/s will make it "recursive"

Android - Handle "Enter" in an EditText

Just as an addendum to Chad's response (which worked almost perfectly for me), I found that I needed to add a check on the KeyEvent action type to prevent my code executing twice (once on the key-up and once on the key-down event).

if (actionId == EditorInfo.IME_NULL && event.getAction() == KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN)
{
    // your code here
}

See http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html for info about repeating action events (holding the enter key) etc.

How can I see what has changed in a file before committing to git?

You can also use a git-friendly text editor. They show colors on the lines that have been modified, another color for added lines, another color for deleted lines, etc.

A good text editor that does this is GitHub's Atom 1.0.

iPhone App Icons - Exact Radius?

I see a lot of "px" discussion but no one is talking percentages which is the fixed number you want to calculate by.

22.37% is the key percentage here. Multiply any of the image sizes mentioned above in by 0.2237 and you will get the correct pixel radius for that size.

Before iOS 8, Apple used less rounding, using 15.625%.

EDIT: Thanks @Chris Prince for commenting with the iOS 8/9/10 radius percentage: 22.37%

Saving the PuTTY session logging

This is a bit confusing, but follow these steps to save the session.

  1. Category -> Session -> enter public IP in Host and 22 in port.
  2. Connection -> SSH -> Auth -> select the .ppk file
  3. Category -> Session -> enter a name in Saved Session -> Click Save

To open the session, double click on particular saved session.

how to use free cloud database with android app?

As Wingman said, Google App Engine is a great solution for your scenario.

You can get some information about GAE+Android here: https://developers.google.com/eclipse/docs/appengine_connected_android

And from this Google IO 2012 session: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU_wNR_UUn4

Random "Element is no longer attached to the DOM" StaleElementReferenceException

I think I found convenient approach to handle StaleElementReferenceException. Usually you have to write wrappers for every WebElement method to retry actions, which is frustrating and wastes lots of time.

Adding this code

webDriverWait.until((webDriver1) -> (((JavascriptExecutor) webDriver).executeScript("return document.readyState").equals("complete")));

if ((Boolean) ((JavascriptExecutor) webDriver).executeScript("return window.jQuery != undefined")) {
    webDriverWait.until((webDriver1) -> (((JavascriptExecutor) webDriver).executeScript("return jQuery.active == 0")));
}

before every WebElement action can increase stability of your tests but you still can get StaleElementReferenceException from time to time.

So this is what I came up with (using AspectJ):

package path.to.your.aspects;

import org.apache.logging.log4j.LogManager;
import org.apache.logging.log4j.Logger;
import org.aspectj.lang.ProceedingJoinPoint;
import org.aspectj.lang.annotation.Around;
import org.aspectj.lang.annotation.Aspect;
import org.aspectj.lang.annotation.Pointcut;
import org.aspectj.lang.reflect.MethodSignature;
import org.openqa.selenium.JavascriptExecutor;
import org.openqa.selenium.StaleElementReferenceException;
import org.openqa.selenium.WebDriver;
import org.openqa.selenium.WebElement;
import org.openqa.selenium.remote.RemoteWebElement;
import org.openqa.selenium.support.pagefactory.DefaultElementLocator;
import org.openqa.selenium.support.pagefactory.internal.LocatingElementHandler;
import org.openqa.selenium.support.ui.WebDriverWait;

import java.lang.reflect.Field;
import java.lang.reflect.Method;
import java.lang.reflect.Proxy;

@Aspect
public class WebElementAspect {
    private static final Logger LOG = LogManager.getLogger(WebElementAspect.class);
    /**

     */
    private WebDriver webDriver = DriverManager.getWebDriver();
    private WebDriverWait webDriverWait = new WebDriverWait(webDriver, 10);

    /**

     */
    @Pointcut("execution(* org.openqa.selenium.WebElement.*(..))")
    public void webElementMethods() {}

    /**

    @Around("webElementMethods()")
    public Object webElementHandler(ProceedingJoinPoint joinPoint) throws Throwable {
        /**

         */
        waitUntilPageIsLoaded();

        /**
         * Getting WebElement instance, method, arguments
         */
        WebElement webElement = (WebElement) joinPoint.getThis();
        Method method = ((MethodSignature) joinPoint.getSignature()).getMethod();
        Object[] args = joinPoint.getArgs();

        /**

        String methodName = method.getName();

        if (methodName.contains("click")) {
            LOG.info("Clicking on " + getBy(webElement));
        } else if (methodName.contains("select")) {
            LOG.info("Selecting from " + getBy(webElement));
        } else if (methodName.contains("sendKeys")) {
            LOG.info("Entering " + args[0].toString() + " into " + getBy(webElement));
        }

        try {
            /**

             */
            return joinPoint.proceed();
        } catch (StaleElementReferenceException ex) {
            LOG.debug("Intercepted StaleElementReferenceException");

            webElement = StaleElementUtil.refreshElement(webElement);

            /**

             */
            return method.invoke(webElement, args);
        }
    }

    private void waitUntilPageIsLoaded() {
        webDriverWait.until((webDriver1) -> (((JavascriptExecutor) webDriver).executeScript("return document.readyState").equals("complete")));

        if ((Boolean) ((JavascriptExecutor) webDriver).executeScript("return window.jQuery != undefined")) {
            webDriverWait.until((webDriver1) -> (((JavascriptExecutor) webDriver).executeScript("return jQuery.active == 0")));
        }
    }

    private static String getBy(WebElement webElement) {
        try {
            if (webElement instanceof RemoteWebElement) {
                try {
                    Field foundBy = webElement.getClass().getDeclaredField("foundBy");
                    foundBy.setAccessible(true);
                    return (String) foundBy.get(webElement);
                } catch (NoSuchFieldException e) {
                    e.printStackTrace();
                }
            } else {
                LocatingElementHandler handler = (LocatingElementHandler) Proxy.getInvocationHandler(webElement);

                Field locatorField = handler.getClass().getDeclaredField("locator");
                locatorField.setAccessible(true);

                DefaultElementLocator locator = (DefaultElementLocator) locatorField.get(handler);

                Field byField = locator.getClass().getDeclaredField("by");
                byField.setAccessible(true);

                return byField.get(locator).toString();
            }
        } catch (IllegalAccessException | NoSuchFieldException e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }

        return null;
    }
}

To enable this aspect create file src\main\resources\META-INF\aop-ajc.xml and write

<aspectj>
    <aspects>
        <aspect name="path.to.your.aspects.WebElementAspect"/>
    </aspects>
</aspectj>

Add this to your pom.xml

<properties>
    <aspectj.version>1.9.1</aspectj.version>
</properties>

<build>
    <plugins>
        <plugin>
            <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>

                </dependency>
            </dependencies>
        </plugin>

And thats all. Hope it helps.

Select All checkboxes using jQuery

I know its too late, but I'm posting this for the upcoming developers.

For select all checkbox we need to check three conditions, 1. on click select all checkbox every checkbox should get selected 2. if all selected then on click select all checkbox, every checkbox should get deselected 3. if we deselect or select any of the checkbox the select all checkbox also should change.

with these three things we'll get a good result.for this you can approach this link https://qawall.in/2020/05/30/select-all-or-deselect-all-checkbox-using-jquery/ I got my solution from here, they have provided solution with examples.

<table>
<tr>
    <th><input type="checkbox" id="select_all"/> Select all</th>
</tr>
<tr>
    <td><input type="checkbox" class="check" value="1"/> Check 1</td>
    <td><input type="checkbox" class="check" value="2"/> Check 2</td>
    <td><input type="checkbox" class="check" value="3"/> Check 3</td>
    <td><input type="checkbox" class="check" value="4"/> Check 4</td>
    <td><input type="checkbox" class="check" value="5"/> Check 5</td>
</tr>

<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#select_all').on('click',function(){
    if(this.checked){
        $('.check').each(function(){
            this.checked = true;
        });
    }else{
         $('.check').each(function(){
            this.checked = false;
        });
    }
});

$('.check').on('click',function(){
    if($('.check:checked').length == $('.check').length){
        $('#select_all').prop('checked',true);
    }else{
        $('#select_all').prop('checked',false);
    }
});

});

hope this will help anyone ...:)

ImageView rounded corners

I use Universal Image loader library to download and round the corners of image, and it worked for me.

ImageLoaderConfiguration config = new ImageLoaderConfiguration.Builder(thisContext)
            // You can pass your own memory cache implementation
           .discCacheFileNameGenerator(new HashCodeFileNameGenerator())
           .build();

DisplayImageOptions options = new DisplayImageOptions.Builder()
            .displayer(new RoundedBitmapDisplayer(10)) //rounded corner bitmap
            .cacheInMemory(true)
            .cacheOnDisc(true)
            .build();

ImageLoader imageLoader = ImageLoader.getInstance();
imageLoader.init(config);
imageLoader.displayImage(image_url,image_view, options );

android: how to change layout on button click?

I would add an android:onClick to the layout and then change the layout in the activity.

So in the layout

<ImageView
(Other things like source etc.)
android:onClick="changelayout"
/>

Then in the activity add the following:

public void changelayout(View view){
    setContentView(R.layout.second_layout);
}

How to check the maximum number of allowed connections to an Oracle database?

Use gv$session for RAC, if you want get the total number of session across the cluster.

What does the "map" method do in Ruby?

The map method takes an enumerable object and a block, and runs the block for each element, outputting each returned value from the block (the original object is unchanged unless you use map!):

[1, 2, 3].map { |n| n * n } #=> [1, 4, 9]

Array and Range are enumerable types. map with a block returns an Array. map! mutates the original array.

Where is this helpful, and what is the difference between map! and each? Here is an example:

names = ['danil', 'edmund']

# here we map one array to another, convert each element by some rule
names.map! {|name| name.capitalize } # now names contains ['Danil', 'Edmund']

names.each { |name| puts name + ' is a programmer' } # here we just do something with each element

The output:

Danil is a programmer
Edmund is a programmer

How to Run a jQuery or JavaScript Before Page Start to Load

How to convert Java String into byte[]?

It is not necessary to change java as a String parameter. You have to change the c code to receive a String without a pointer and in its code:

Bool DmgrGetVersion (String szVersion);

Char NewszVersion [200];
Strcpy (NewszVersion, szVersion.t_str ());
.t_str () applies to builder c ++ 2010

Load CSV data into MySQL in Python

The above answer seems good. But another way of doing this is adding the auto commit option along with the db connect. This automatically commits every other operations performed in the db, avoiding the use of mentioning sql.commit() every time.

 mydb = MySQLdb.connect(host='localhost',
        user='root',
        passwd='',
        db='mydb',autocommit=true)

org.json.simple.JSONArray cannot be cast to org.json.simple.JSONObject

If you want to re-filter the json data you can use following method. Given example is getting all document data from couchdb.

{
    Gson gson = new Gson();
    String resultJson = restTemplate.getForObject(url+"_all_docs?include_docs=true", String.class);
    JSONObject object =  (JSONObject) new JSONParser().parse(resultJson);
    JSONArray rowdata = (JSONArray) object.get("rows");
    List<Object>list=new ArrayList<Object>();
    for(int i=0;i<rowdata.size();i++) {
        JSONObject index = (JSONObject) rowdata.get(i);
        JSONObject data = (JSONObject) index.get("doc");
        list.add(data);
    }
    // convert your list to json
    String devicelist = gson.toJson(list);
    return devicelist;
}

JMS Topic vs Queues

That means a topic is appropriate. A queue means a message goes to one and only one possible subscriber. A topic goes to each and every subscriber.

UIImageView - How to get the file name of the image assigned?

This code will help you out:-

- (NSString *)getFileName:(UIImageView *)imgView{
    NSString *imgName = [imgView image].accessibilityIdentifier;
    NSLog(@"%@",imgName);
    return imgName;
}

Use this as:-

NSString *currentImageName = [self getFileName:MyIImageView];

Convert JavaScript String to be all lower case?

var lowerCaseName = "Your Name".toLowerCase();

CSS Classes & SubClasses

That is the backbone of CSS, the "cascade" in Cascading Style Sheets.

If you write your CSS rules in a single line it makes it easier to see the structure:

.area1 .item { color:red; }
.area2 .item { color:blue; }
.area2 .item span { font-weight:bold; }

Using multiple classes is also a good intermediate/advanced use of CSS, unfortunately there is a well known IE6 bug which limits this usage when writing cross browser code:

<div class="area1 larger"> .... </div>

.area1 { width:200px; }
.area1.larger { width:300px; }

IE6 IGNORES the first selector in a multi-class rule, so IE6 actually applies the .area1.larger rule as

/*.area1*/.larger { ... }

Meaning it will affect ALL .larger elements.

It's a very nasty and unfortunate bug (one of many) in IE6 that forces you to pretty much never use that feature of CSS if you want one clean cross-browser CSS file.

The solution then is to use CSS classname prefixes to avoid colliding wiht generic classnames:

.area1 { ... }
.area1.area1Larger { ... }

.area2.area2Larger { ... }

May as well use just one class, but that way you can keep the CSS in the logic you intended, while knowing that .area1Larger only affects .area1, etc.

Display A Popup Only Once Per User

You can use removeItem() class of localStorage to destroy that key on browser close with:

window.onbeforeunload = function{
    localStorage.removeItem('your key');
};

In Rails, how do you render JSON using a view?

Try adding a view users/show.json.erb This should be rendered when you make a request for the JSON format, and you get the added benefit of it being rendered by erb too, so your file could look something like this

{
    "first_name": "<%= @user.first_name.to_json %>",
    "last_name": "<%= @user.last_name.to_json %>"
}

Calling a Variable from another Class

That would just be:

 Console.WriteLine(Variables.name);

and it needs to be public also:

public class Variables

   public static string name = "";
}

Oracle PL/SQL string compare issue

To the first question:

Probably the message wasn't print out because you have the output turned off. Use these commands to turn it back on:

set serveroutput on
exec dbms_output.enable(1000000);

On the second question:

My PLSQL is quite rusty so I can't give you a full snippet, but you'll need to loop over the result set of the SQL query and CONCAT all the strings together.

System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out

I remember I had the same problem a while back using WCF due the quantity of the data I was passing. I remember I changed timeouts everywhere but the problem persisted. What I finally did was open the connection as stream request, I needed to change the client and the server side, but it work that way. Since it was a stream connection, the server kept reading until the stream ended.

Open another page in php

header( 'Location: http://www.yoursite.com/new_page.html' );

in your process.php file

Add Expires headers

The easiest way to add these headers is a .htaccess file that adds some configuration to your server. If the assets are hosted on a server that you don't control, there's nothing you can do about it.

Note that some hosting providers will not let you use .htaccess files, so check their terms if it doesn't seem to work.

The HTML5Boilerplate project has an excellent .htaccess file that covers the necessary settings. See the relevant part of the file at their Github repository

These are the important bits

# ----------------------------------------------------------------------
# Expires headers (for better cache control)
# ----------------------------------------------------------------------

# These are pretty far-future expires headers.
# They assume you control versioning with filename-based cache busting
# Additionally, consider that outdated proxies may miscache
# www.stevesouders.com/blog/2008/08/23/revving-filenames-dont-use-querystring/

# If you don't use filenames to version, lower the CSS and JS to something like
# "access plus 1 week".

<IfModule mod_expires.c>
  ExpiresActive on

# Your document html
  ExpiresByType text/html "access plus 0 seconds"

# Media: images, video, audio
  ExpiresByType audio/ogg "access plus 1 month"
  ExpiresByType image/gif "access plus 1 month"
  ExpiresByType image/jpeg "access plus 1 month"
  ExpiresByType image/png "access plus 1 month"
  ExpiresByType video/mp4 "access plus 1 month"
  ExpiresByType video/ogg "access plus 1 month"
  ExpiresByType video/webm "access plus 1 month"

# CSS and JavaScript
  ExpiresByType application/javascript "access plus 1 year"
  ExpiresByType text/css "access plus 1 year"
</IfModule>

They have documented what that file does, the most important bit is that you need to rename your CSS and Javascript files whenever they change, because your visitor's browsers will not check them again for a year, once they are cached.

Link a .css on another folder

I dont get it clearly, do you want to link an external css as the structure of files you defined above? If yes then just use the link tag :

    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="file.css">

so basically for files that are under your website folder (folder containing your index) you directly call it. For each successive folder use the "/" for example in your case :

    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="Fonts/Font1/file name">
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="Fonts/Font2/file name">

Adding whitespace in Java

If you have an Instance of the EditText available at the point in your code where you want add whitespace, then this code below will work. There may be some things to consider, for example the code below may trigger any TextWatcher you have set to this EditText, idk for sure, just saying, but this will work when trying to append blank space like this: " ", hasn't worked.

messageInputBox.dispatchKeyEvent(new KeyEvent(0, 0, 0, KeyEvent.KEYCODE_SPACE, 0, 0, 0, 0,
                        KeyEvent.KEYCODE_ENDCALL));

operator << must take exactly one argument

The problem is that you define it inside the class, which

a) means the second argument is implicit (this) and

b) it will not do what you want it do, namely extend std::ostream.

You have to define it as a free function:

class A { /* ... */ };
std::ostream& operator<<(std::ostream&, const A& a);

Difficulty with ng-model, ng-repeat, and inputs

I tried the solution above for my problem at it worked like a charm. Thanks!

http://jsfiddle.net/leighboone/wn9Ym/7/

Here is my version of that:

var myApp = angular.module('myApp', []);
function MyCtrl($scope) {
    $scope.models = [{
        name: 'Device1',
        checked: true
    }, {
        name: 'Device1',
        checked: true
    }, {
        name: 'Device1',
        checked: true
    }];

}

and my HTML

<div ng-app="myApp">
    <div ng-controller="MyCtrl">
         <h1>Fun with Fields and ngModel</h1>
        <p>names: {{models}}</p>
        <table class="table table-striped">

Password encryption/decryption code in .NET

First create a class like:

public class Encryption
    {
        public static string Encrypt(string clearText)
        {
            string EncryptionKey = "MAKV2SPBNI99212";
            byte[] clearBytes = Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(clearText);
            using (Aes encryptor = Aes.Create())
            {
                Rfc2898DeriveBytes pdb = new Rfc2898DeriveBytes(EncryptionKey, new byte[] { 0x49, 0x76, 0x61, 0x6e, 0x20, 0x4d, 0x65, 0x64, 0x76, 0x65, 0x64, 0x65, 0x76 });
                encryptor.Key = pdb.GetBytes(32);
                encryptor.IV = pdb.GetBytes(16);
                using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream())
                {
                    using (CryptoStream cs = new CryptoStream(ms, encryptor.CreateEncryptor(), CryptoStreamMode.Write))
                    {
                        cs.Write(clearBytes, 0, clearBytes.Length);
                        cs.Close();
                    }
                    clearText = Convert.ToBase64String(ms.ToArray());
                }
            }
            return clearText;
        }

        public static string Decrypt(string cipherText)
        {
            string EncryptionKey = "MAKV2SPBNI99212";
            byte[] cipherBytes = Convert.FromBase64String(cipherText);
            using (Aes encryptor = Aes.Create())
            {
                Rfc2898DeriveBytes pdb = new Rfc2898DeriveBytes(EncryptionKey, new byte[] { 0x49, 0x76, 0x61, 0x6e, 0x20, 0x4d, 0x65, 0x64, 0x76, 0x65, 0x64, 0x65, 0x76 });
                encryptor.Key = pdb.GetBytes(32);
                encryptor.IV = pdb.GetBytes(16);
                using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream())
                {
                    using (CryptoStream cs = new CryptoStream(ms, encryptor.CreateDecryptor(), CryptoStreamMode.Write))
                    {
                        cs.Write(cipherBytes, 0, cipherBytes.Length);
                        cs.Close();
                    }
                    cipherText = Encoding.Unicode.GetString(ms.ToArray());
                }
            }
            return cipherText;
        }
    }

How can I get a specific number child using CSS?

For modern browsers, use td:nth-child(2) for the second td, and td:nth-child(3) for the third. Remember that these retrieve the second and third td for every row.

If you need compatibility with IE older than version 9, use sibling combinators or JavaScript as suggested by Tim. Also see my answer to this related question for an explanation and illustration of his method.

Warning as error - How to get rid of these

Each project in Visual Studio has a "treat warnings as errors" option. Go through each of your projects and change that setting:

  1. Right-click on your project, select "Properties".
  2. Click "Build".
  3. Switch "Treat warnings as errors" from "All" to "Specific warnings" or "None".

The location of this switch varies, depending on the type of project (class library vs. web application, for example).

encrypt and decrypt md5

There is no way to decrypt MD5. Well, there is, but no reasonable way to do it. That's kind of the point.

To check if someone is entering the correct password, you need to MD5 whatever the user entered, and see if it matches what you have in the database.

Combine two tables that have no common fields

Very hard when you have to do this with three select statments

I tried all proposed techniques up there but it's in-vain

Please see below script. please advice if you have alternative solution

Align an element to bottom with flexbox

You can use auto margins

Prior to alignment via justify-content and align-self, any positive free space is distributed to auto margins in that dimension.

So you can use one of these (or both):

p { margin-bottom: auto; } /* Push following elements to the bottom */
a { margin-top: auto; } /* Push it and following elements to the bottom */

_x000D_
_x000D_
.content {_x000D_
  height: 200px;_x000D_
  border: 1px solid;_x000D_
  display: flex;_x000D_
  flex-direction: column;_x000D_
}_x000D_
h1, h2 {_x000D_
  margin: 0;_x000D_
}_x000D_
a {_x000D_
  margin-top: auto;_x000D_
}
_x000D_
<div class="content">_x000D_
  <h1>heading 1</h1>_x000D_
  <h2>heading 2</h2>_x000D_
  <p>Some text more or less</p>_x000D_
  <a href="/" class="button">Click me</a>_x000D_
</div>
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

Alternatively, you can make the element before the a grow to fill the available space:

p { flex-grow: 1; } /* Grow to fill available space */

_x000D_
_x000D_
.content {_x000D_
  height: 200px;_x000D_
  border: 1px solid;_x000D_
  display: flex;_x000D_
  flex-direction: column;_x000D_
}_x000D_
h1, h2 {_x000D_
  margin: 0;_x000D_
}_x000D_
p {_x000D_
  flex-grow: 1;_x000D_
}
_x000D_
<div class="content">_x000D_
  <h1>heading 1</h1>_x000D_
  <h2>heading 2</h2>_x000D_
  <p>Some text more or less</p>_x000D_

@Resource vs @Autowired

Both of them are equally good. The advantage of using Resource is in future if you want to another DI framework other than spring, your code changes will be much simpler. Using Autowired your code is tightly coupled with springs DI.

How to change an Eclipse default project into a Java project

Manually changing XML and/or settings is very dangerous in eclipse unless you know exactly what you're doing. In the other case you might end up finding your complete project is screwed. Taking a backup is very recommended!

How to do it just using Eclipse?

  1. Select project.
  2. Open the project properties through Project -> Properties.
  3. Go to "Targetted Runtimes" and add the proper runtime. Click APPLY.
  4. Go to "Project Facets" and select the JAVA facet which has appeared due to step 4. Click APPLY
  5. Set your build path.
  6. If it's a Maven project, you might want to select the project, click Maven -> Update Project configuration...

That did it for me. And Eclipse is configured correctly. Hope it'll work for you too.

Removing X-Powered-By

I think that is controlled by the expose_php setting in PHP.ini:

expose_php = off

Decides whether PHP may expose the fact that it is installed on the server (e.g. by adding its signature to the Web server header). It is no security threat in any way, but it makes it possible to determine whether you use PHP on your server or not.

There is no direct security risk, but as David C notes, exposing an outdated (and possibly vulnerable) version of PHP may be an invitation for people to try and attack it.

Why does Vim save files with a ~ extension?

I think the better solution is to place these lines in your vimrc file

set backupdir=~/vimtmp//,.
set directory=~/vimtmp//,.

The first line is for backup files, the second line for swap files. The double slash at the end ensures that there is no conflict in case of two files having the same name, see comments (at the time of this edit this option is only honored for swap files, not yet for backup files). The ,. allow vim to use the current directory if the former doesn't exist.

You have to create a directory in your home directory called vimtmp for this to work. Also, check that backups are enabled in your config (add set backup if not).

That way you get the benefit of both worlds, you don't have to see the files, but if something does get futzed you can go get your backup file from vimtmp. Don't forget to clean the directory out every now and then.

Copy a variable's value into another

The reason for this is simple. JavaScript uses refereces, so when you assign b = a you are assigning a reference to b thus when updating a you are also updating b

I found this on stackoverflow and will help prevent things like this in the future by just calling this method if you want to do a deep copy of an object.

function clone(obj) {
    // Handle the 3 simple types, and null or undefined
    if (null == obj || "object" != typeof obj) return obj;

    // Handle Date
    if (obj instanceof Date) {
        var copy = new Date();
        copy.setTime(obj.getTime());
        return copy;
    }

    // Handle Array
    if (obj instanceof Array) {
        var copy = [];
        for (var i = 0, len = obj.length; i < len; i++) {
            copy[i] = clone(obj[i]);
        }
        return copy;
    }

    // Handle Object
    if (obj instanceof Object) {
        var copy = {};
        for (var attr in obj) {
            if (obj.hasOwnProperty(attr)) copy[attr] = clone(obj[attr]);
        }
        return copy;
    }

    throw new Error("Unable to copy obj! Its type isn't supported.");
}

Finding even or odd ID values

In oracle,

select num from table where MOD (num, 2) = 0;

Angular 4 - get input value

You can also use template reference variables

<form (submit)="onSubmit(player.value)">
   <input #player placeholder="player name">
</form>
onSubmit(playerName: string) {
  console.log(playerName)
}

Detect user scroll down or scroll up in jQuery

To differentiate between scroll up/down in jQuery, you could use:

var mousewheelevt = (/Firefox/i.test(navigator.userAgent)) ? "DOMMouseScroll" : "mousewheel" //FF doesn't recognize mousewheel as of FF3.x
$('#yourDiv').bind(mousewheelevt, function(e){

    var evt = window.event || e //equalize event object
    evt = evt.originalEvent ? evt.originalEvent : evt; //convert to originalEvent if possible
    var delta = evt.detail ? evt.detail*(-40) : evt.wheelDelta //check for detail first, because it is used by Opera and FF

    if(delta > 0) {
        //scroll up
    }
    else{
        //scroll down
    }
});

This method also works in divs that have overflow:hidden.

I successfully tested it in FireFox, IE and Chrome.

How To Run PHP From Windows Command Line in WAMPServer

The problem you are describing sounds like your version of PHP might be missing the readline PHP module, causing the interactive shell to not work. I base this on this PHP bug submission.

Try running

php -m

And see if "readline" appears in the output.

There might be good reasons for omitting readline from the distribution. PHP is typically executed by a web server; so it is not really need for most use cases. I am sure you can execute PHP code in a file from the command prompt, using:

php file.php

There is also the phpsh project which provides a (better) interactive shell for PHP. However, some people have had trouble running it under Windows (I did not try this myself).

Edit: According to the documentation here, readline is not supported under Windows:

Note: This extension is not available on Windows platforms.

So, if that is correct, your options are:

  • Avoid the interactive shell, and just execute PHP code in files from the command line - this should work well
  • Try getting phpsh to work under Windows

How to set the LDFLAGS in CMakeLists.txt?

For linking against libraries see Andre's answer.

For linker flags - the following 4 CMake variables:

CMAKE_EXE_LINKER_FLAGS
CMAKE_MODULE_LINKER_FLAGS
CMAKE_SHARED_LINKER_FLAGS
CMAKE_STATIC_LINKER_FLAGS

can be easily manipulated for different configs (debug, release...) with the ucm_add_linker_flags macro of ucm

Can a html button perform a POST request?

This can be done with an input element of a type "submit". This will appear as a button to the user and clicking the button will send the form.

<form action="" method="post">
    <input type="submit" name="upvote" value="Upvote" />
</form>

PHP : send mail in localhost

It is possible to send Emails without using any heavy libraries I have included my example here.

lightweight SMTP Email sender for PHP

https://github.com/jerryurenaa/EZMAIL

Tested in both environments production and development.

and most importantly emails will not go to spam unless your IP is blacklisted by the server.

cheers.

Send email using java

The short answer - No.

The long answer - no, since the code relies on the presence of a SMTP server running on the local machine, and listening on port 25. The SMTP server (technically the MTA or Mail Transfer Agent) is responsible for communicating with the Mail User Agent (MUA, which in this case is the Java process) to receive outgoing emails.

Now, MTAs are typically responsible for receiving mails from users for a particular domain. So, for the domain gmail.com, it would be the Google mail servers that are responsible for authenticating mail user agents and hence transferring of mails to inboxes on the GMail servers. I'm not sure if GMail trusts open mail relay servers, but it is certainly not an easy task to perform authentication on behalf on Google, and then relay mail to the GMail servers.

If you read the JavaMail FAQ on using JavaMail to accessing GMail, you'll notice that the hostname and the port happen to be pointing to the GMail servers, and certainly not to localhost. If you intend to use your local machine, you'll need to perform either relaying or forwarding.

You'll probably need to understand the SMTP protocol in depth if you intend to get anywhere when it comes to SMTP. You can start with the Wikipedia article on SMTP, but any further progress will actually necessitate programming against a SMTP server.

iPhone is not available. Please reconnect the device

I was using Xcode beta 3 (the latest at the time of writing) and encountered this issue with an iPhone XS running the latest iOS 14 Beta.

The solution, after trying a lot of suggestions, was to restart my iPhone.

CMD Cheat Sheet

  • Cmd.exe

  • Getting Help

  • Punctuation

  • Naming Files

  • Starting Programs

  • Keys

CMD.exe

First thing to remember its a way of operating a computer. It's the way we did it before WIMP (Windows, Icons, Mouse, Popup menus) became common. It owes it roots to CPM, VMS, and Unix. It was used to start programs and copy and delete files. Also you could change the time and date.

For help on starting CMD type cmd /?. You must start it with either the /k or /c switch unless you just want to type in it.

Getting Help

For general help. Type Help in the command prompt. For each command listed type help <command> (eg help dir) or <command> /? (eg dir /?).

Some commands have sub commands. For example schtasks /create /?.

The NET command's help is unusual. Typing net use /? is brief help. Type net help use for full help. The same applies at the root - net /? is also brief help, use net help.

References in Help to new behaviour are describing changes from CMD in OS/2 and Windows NT4 to the current CMD which is in Windows 2000 and later.

WMIC is a multipurpose command. Type wmic /?.

Punctuation

& seperates commands on a line.

&& executes this command only if previous command's errorlevel is 0.

|| (not used above) executes this command only if previous command's
errorlevel is NOT 0

>    output to a file

>> append output to a file

<    input from a file

2> Redirects command error output to the file specified. (0 is StdInput, 1 is StdOutput, and 2 is StdError)

2>&1 Redirects command error output to the same location as command output.

| output of one command into the input of another command

^ escapes any of the above, including itself, if needed to be passed
to a program

" parameters with spaces must be enclosed in quotes

+ used with copy to concatenate files. E.G. copy file1+file2 newfile

, used with copy to indicate missing parameters. This updates the files
modified date. E.G. copy /b file1,,

%variablename% a inbuilt or user set environmental variable

!variablename! a user set environmental variable expanded at execution
time, turned with SelLocal EnableDelayedExpansion command

%<number> (%1) the nth command line parameter passed to a batch file. %0
is the batchfile's name.

%* (%*) the entire command line.

%CMDCMDLINE% - expands to the original command line that invoked the
Command Processor (from set /?).

%<a letter> or %%<a letter> (%A or %%A) the variable in a for loop.
Single % sign at command prompt and double % sign in a batch file.

\\ (\\servername\sharename\folder\file.ext) access files and folders via UNC naming.

: (win.ini:streamname) accesses an alternative steam. Also separates drive from rest of path.

. (win.ini) the LAST dot in a file path separates the name from extension

. (dir .\*.txt) the current directory

.. (cd ..) the parent directory

\\?\ (\\?\c:\windows\win.ini) When a file path is prefixed with \\?\ filename checks are turned off.

Naming Files

< > : " / \ | Reserved characters. May not be used in filenames.

Reserved names. These refer to devices eg,

copy filename con

which copies a file to the console window.

CON, PRN, AUX, NUL, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4,

COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8, COM9, LPT1, LPT2,

LPT3, LPT4, LPT5, LPT6, LPT7, LPT8, and LPT9

CONIN$, CONOUT$, CONERR$

--------------------------------

Maximum path length              260 characters
Maximum path length (\\?\) 32,767 characters (approx - some rare characters use 2 characters of storage)
Maximum filename length        255 characters

Starting a Program

See start /? and call /? for help on all three ways.

There are two types of Windows programs - console or non console (these are called GUI even if they don't have one). Console programs attach to the current console or Windows creates a new console. GUI programs have to explicitly create their own windows.

If a full path isn't given then Windows looks in

  1. The directory from which the application loaded.

  2. The current directory for the parent process.

  3. Windows NT/2000/XP: The 32-bit Windows system directory. Use the GetSystemDirectory function to get the path of this directory. The name of this directory is System32.

  4. Windows NT/2000/XP: The 16-bit Windows system directory. There is no function that obtains the path of this directory, but it is searched. The name of this directory is System.

  5. The Windows directory. Use the GetWindowsDirectory function to get the path of this directory.

  6. The directories that are listed in the PATH environment variable.

Specify a program name

This is the standard way to start a program.

c:\windows\notepad.exe

In a batch file the batch will wait for the program to exit. When typed the command prompt does not wait for graphical programs to exit.

If the program is a batch file control is transferred and the rest of the calling batch file is not executed.

Use Start command

Start starts programs in non standard ways.

start "" c:\windows\notepad.exe

Start starts a program and does not wait. Console programs start in a new window. Using the /b switch forces console programs into the same window, which negates the main purpose of Start.

Start uses the Windows graphical shell - same as typing in WinKey + R (Run dialog). Try

start shell:cache

Also program names registered under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths can also be typed without specifying a full path.

Also note the first set of quotes, if any, MUST be the window title.

Use Call command

What's the difference between disabled="disabled" and readonly="readonly" for HTML form input fields?

If the value of a disabled textbox needs to be retained when a form is cleared (reset), disabled = "disabled" has to be used, as read-only textbox will not retain the value

For Example:

HTML

Textbox

<input type="text" id="disabledText" name="randombox" value="demo" disabled="disabled" />

Reset button

<button type="reset" id="clearButton">Clear</button>

In the above example, when Clear button is pressed, disabled text value will be retained in the form. Value will not be retained in the case of input type = "text" readonly="readonly"

You need to install postgresql-server-dev-X.Y for building a server-side extension or libpq-dev for building a client-side application

For Python 3, I did:

sudo apt install python3-dev postgresql postgresql-contrib python3-psycopg2 libpq-dev

and then I was able to do:

pip3 install psycopg2

Filter multiple values on a string column in dplyr

Using the base package:

df <- data.frame(days = c(88, 11, 2, 5, 22, 1, 222, 2), name = c("Lynn", "Tom", "Chris", "Lisa", "Kyla", "Tom", "Lynn", "Lynn"))

# Three lines
target <- c("Tom", "Lynn")
index <- df$name %in% target
df[index, ]

# One line
df[df$name %in% c("Tom", "Lynn"), ]

Output:

  days name
1   88 Lynn
2   11  Tom
6    1  Tom
7  222 Lynn
8    2 Lynn

Using sqldf:

library(sqldf)
# Two alternatives:
sqldf('SELECT *
      FROM df
      WHERE name = "Tom" OR name = "Lynn"')
sqldf('SELECT *
      FROM df
      WHERE name IN ("Tom", "Lynn")')

Viewing full version tree in git

You can try the following:

gitk --all

You can tell gitk what to display using anything that git rev-list understands, so if you just want a few branches, you can do:

gitk master origin/master origin/experiment

... or more exotic things like:

gitk --simplify-by-decoration --all

Adding three months to a date in PHP

Calculating moving average

In fact RcppRoll is very good.

The code posted by cantdutchthis must be corrected in the fourth line to the window be fixed:

ma <- function(arr, n=15){
  res = arr
  for(i in n:length(arr)){
    res[i] = mean(arr[(i-n+1):i])
  }
  res
}

Another way, which handles missings, is given here.

A third way, improving cantdutchthis code to calculate partial averages or not, follows:

  ma <- function(x, n=2,parcial=TRUE){
  res = x #set the first values

  if (parcial==TRUE){
    for(i in 1:length(x)){
      t<-max(i-n+1,1)
      res[i] = mean(x[t:i])
    }
    res

  }else{
    for(i in 1:length(x)){
      t<-max(i-n+1,1)
      res[i] = mean(x[t:i])
    }
    res[-c(seq(1,n-1,1))] #remove the n-1 first,i.e., res[c(-3,-4,...)]
  }
}

How can I set a cookie in react?

You can use default javascript cookies set method. this working perfect.

createCookieInHour: (cookieName, cookieValue, hourToExpire) => {
    let date = new Date();
    date.setTime(date.getTime()+(hourToExpire*60*60*1000));
    document.cookie = cookieName + " = " + cookieValue + "; expires = " +date.toGMTString();
},

call java scripts funtion in react method as below,

createCookieInHour('cookieName', 'cookieValue', 5);

and you can use below way to view cookies.

let cookie = document.cookie.split(';');
console.log('cookie : ', cookie);

Converting serial port data to TCP/IP in a Linux environment

You might find Perl or Python useful to get data from the serial port. To send data to the server, the solution could be easy if the server is (let's say) an HTTP application or even a popular database. The solution would be not so easy if it is some custom/proprietary TCP application.

Exclude Blank and NA in R

Don't know exactly what kind of dataset you have, so I provide general answer.

   x  y
1  1  1

Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'simple, ' to data type int

Given that you're only converting to ints to then perform a comparison, I'd just switch the table definition around to using varchar also:

Create table #myTempTable
(
num varchar(12)
)
insert into #myTempTable (num) values (1),(2),(3),(4),(5)

and remove all of the attempted CONVERTs from the rest of the query.

AngularJS Error: $injector:unpr Unknown Provider

Spent a few hours trying to solve the same. This is how I did it:

app.js:

var myApp = angular.module( 'myApp', ['ngRoute', 'ngResource', 'CustomServices'] );

CustomServices is a new module I created and placed in a separate file called services.js

_Layout.cshtml:

<script src="~/Scripts/app.js"></script>
<script src="~/Scripts/services/services.js"></script>

services.js:

var app = angular.module('CustomServices', []);
app.factory( 'GetPeopleList', ['$http', '$log','$q', function ( $http, $log, $q )
{
    //Your code here
}

app.js

myApp.controller( 'mainController', ['$scope', '$http', '$route', '$routeParams', '$location', 'GetPeopleList', function ( $scope, $http, $route, $routeParams, $location, GetPeopleList )

You have to bind your service to your new module in the services.js file AND of course you have to use that new module in the creation of your main app module (app.js) AND also declare the use of the service in the controller you want to use it in.

How do I make a WinForms app go Full Screen

To the base question, the following will do the trick (hiding the taskbar)

private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    this.TopMost = true;
    this.FormBorderStyle = FormBorderStyle.None;
    this.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized;
}

But, interestingly, if you swap those last two lines the Taskbar remains visible. I think the sequence of these actions will be hard to control with the properties window.

A couple of years late to the party, but I had a requirement to do this for both past and future dates, so I combined Jeff's and Vincent's into this. It's a ternarytastic extravaganza! :)

Variables within app.config/web.config

You have a couple of options. You could do this with a build / deploy step which would process your configuration file replacing your variables with the correct value.

Another option would be to define your own Configuration section which supported this. For example imagine this xml:

<variableAppSettings>
 <variables>
    <add key="@BaseDir" value="c:\Programs\Widget"/>
 </variables>
 <appSettings>
    <add key="PathToDir" value="@BaseDir\Dir1"/>
 </appSettings>
</variableAppSettings>

Now you would implement this using custom configuration objects which would handle replacing the variables for you at runtime.

Can angularjs routes have optional parameter values?

Please see @jlareau answer here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/11534710/angularjs-how-to-use-routeparams-in-generating-the-templateurl

You can use a function to generate the template string:

var app = angular.module('app',[]);

app.config(
    function($routeProvider) {
        $routeProvider.
            when('/', {templateUrl:'/home'}).
            when('/users/:user_id',
                {
                    controller:UserView,
                    templateUrl: function(params){ return '/users/view/' + params.user_id;   }
                }
            ).
            otherwise({redirectTo:'/'});
    }
);

Return multiple values from a function, sub or type?

Ideas :

  1. Use pass by reference (ByRef)
  2. Build a User Defined Type to hold the stuff you want to return, and return that.
  3. Similar to 2 - build a class to represent the information returned, and return objects of that class...

How to set the locale inside a Debian/Ubuntu Docker container?

You guys don't need those complex things to set locales on Ubuntu/Debian. You don't even need /etc/local.gen file.

Simply locale-gen will do everything and the author only missed locales package.

RUN apt-get update && apt-get install -y locales && rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/* \
 && locale-gen "en_US.UTF-8"
ENV LANG=en_US.UTF-8 \
    LANGUAGE=en_US:en \
    LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8

I found this the simplest and the most effective. I confirm it works on Ubuntu 16.04.

How to ignore conflicts in rpm installs

From the context, the conflict was caused by the version of the package.
Let's take a look the manual about rpm:

--force
    Same as using --replacepkgs, --replacefiles, and --oldpackage.

--oldpackage
    Allow an upgrade to replace a newer package with an older one.

So, you can execute the command rpm -Uvh info-4.13a-2.rpm --force to solve your issue.

Why does the 260 character path length limit exist in Windows?

One way to cope with the path limit is to shorten path entries with symbolic links.

For example:

  1. create a C:\p directory to keep short links to long paths
  2. mklink /J C:\p\foo C:\Some\Crazy\Long\Path\foo
  3. add C:\p\foo to your path instead of the long path

What special characters must be escaped in regular expressions?

Sometimes simple escaping is not possible with the characters you've listed. For example, using a backslash to escape a bracket isn't going to work in the left hand side of a substitution string in sed, namely

sed -e 's/foo\(bar/something_else/'

I tend to just use a simple character class definition instead, so the above expression becomes

sed -e 's/foo[(]bar/something_else/'

which I find works for most regexp implementations.

BTW Character classes are pretty vanilla regexp components so they tend to work in most situations where you need escaped characters in regexps.

Edit: After the comment below, just thought I'd mention the fact that you also have to consider the difference between finite state automata and non-finite state automata when looking at the behaviour of regexp evaluation.

You might like to look at "the shiny ball book" aka Effective Perl (sanitised Amazon link), specifically the chapter on regular expressions, to get a feel for then difference in regexp engine evaluation types.

Not all the world's a PCRE!

Address validation using Google Maps API

I am both a web developer and a former employee of one of the companies you mentioned. I completely understand where you're coming from. Verifying addresses seems like a simple problem to tackle, but it's very much an iceberg. I suppose one workaround to the legal constraints of the Google or Yahoo! Maps APIs is to request your users verify their addresses on a map. If I were in your shoes, though, I wouldn't go that route.

The reason address verification services are so expensive is that they require licenses and ongoing relationships with grumpy, bureaucratic postal authorities (including the Royal Mail). Unfortunately, postal authorities are the best (and often the only) sources of data against which to verify addresses, so there really isn't any other way to go about it. The bottom line is you need to weigh the cost of bad addresses (usually a question of mail volume) against the cost of the software to verify them. Irish postal data is even more rubbish than Irish postal formats (which frequently omit building numbers), so there's little you can do about those addresses.

Reading integers from binary file in Python

As of Python 3.2+, you can also accomplish this using the from_bytes native int method:

file_size = int.from_bytes(fin.read(2), byteorder='big')

Note that this function requires you to specify whether the number is encoded in big- or little-endian format, so you will have to determine the endian-ness to make sure it works correctly.

Get the position of a div/span tag

This function will tell you the x,y position of the element relative to the page. Basically you have to loop up through all the element's parents and add their offsets together.

function getPos(el) {
    // yay readability
    for (var lx=0, ly=0;
         el != null;
         lx += el.offsetLeft, ly += el.offsetTop, el = el.offsetParent);
    return {x: lx,y: ly};
}

However, if you just wanted the x,y position of the element relative to its container, then all you need is:

var x = el.offsetLeft, y = el.offsetTop;

To put an element directly below this one, you'll also need to know its height. This is stored in the offsetHeight/offsetWidth property.

var yPositionOfNewElement = el.offsetTop + el.offsetHeight + someMargin;

Insert a new row into DataTable

In c# following code insert data into datatable on specified position

DataTable dt = new DataTable();

dt.Columns.Add("Amount");

dt.rows.add(1, 1000)
dt.rows.add(2, 2000)

dt.Rows.InsertAt(dt.NewRow(), 3);

var rowPosition = 3;
dt.Rows[rowPosition][dt.Columns.IndexOf("SL")] = 3;
dt.Rows[rowPosition][dt.Columns.IndexOf("Amount")] = 3000;

Spring Boot: Cannot access REST Controller on localhost (404)

Try adding the following to your InventoryApp class

@SpringBootApplication
@ComponentScan(basePackageClasses = ItemInventoryController.class)

spring-boot will scan for components in packages below com.nice.application, so if your controller is in com.nice.controller you need to scan for it explicitly.

Image vs Bitmap class

Image provides an abstract access to an arbitrary image , it defines a set of methods that can loggically be applied upon any implementation of Image. Its not bounded to any particular image format or implementation . Bitmap is a specific implementation to the image abstract class which encapsulate windows GDI bitmap object. Bitmap is just a specific implementation to the Image abstract class which relay on the GDI bitmap Object.

You could for example , Create your own implementation to the Image abstract , by inheriting from the Image class and implementing the abstract methods.

Anyway , this is just a simple basic use of OOP , it shouldn't be hard to catch.

When to use pthread_exit() and when to use pthread_join() in Linux?

You don't need any calls to pthread_exit(3) in your particular code.

In general, the main thread should not call pthread_exit, but should often call pthread_join(3) to wait for some other thread to finish.

In your PrintHello function, you don't need to call pthread_exit because it is implicit after returning from it.

So your code should rather be:

void *PrintHello(void *threadid)  {
  long tid = (long)threadid;
  printf("Hello World! It's me, thread #%ld!\n", tid);
  return threadid;
}

int main (int argc, char *argv[]) {
   pthread_t threads[NUM_THREADS];
   int rc;
   intptr_t t;
   // create all the threads
   for(t=0; t<NUM_THREADS; t++){

Skip first line(field) in loop using CSV file?

There are many ways to skip the first line. In addition to those said by Bakuriu, I would add:

with open(filename, 'r') as f:
    next(f)
    for line in f:

and:

with open(filename,'r') as f:
    lines = f.readlines()[1:]

Getting the length of two-dimensional array

Expansion for multi-dimension array total length,

Generally for your case, since the shape of the 2D array is "squared".

int length = nir.length * nir[0].length;

However, for 2D array, each row may not have the exact same number of elements. Therefore we need to traverse through each row, add number of elements up.

int length = 0;
for ( int lvl = 0; lvl < _levels.length; lvl++ )
{
    length += _levels[ lvl ].length;
}

If N-D array, which means we need N-1 for loop to get each row's size.

"While .. End While" doesn't work in VBA?

VBA is not VB/VB.NET

The correct reference to use is Do..Loop Statement (VBA). Also see the article Excel VBA For, Do While, and Do Until. One way to write this is:

Do While counter < 20
    counter = counter + 1
Loop

(But a For..Next might be more appropriate here.)

Happy coding.

XPath OR operator for different nodes

If you want to select only one of two nodes with union operator, you can use this solution: (//bookstore/book/title | //bookstore/city/zipcode/title)[1]

Convert Rows to columns using 'Pivot' in SQL Server

I've achieved the same thing before by using subqueries. So if your original table was called StoreCountsByWeek, and you had a separate table that listed the Store IDs, then it would look like this:

SELECT StoreID,
    Week1=(SELECT ISNULL(SUM(xCount),0) FROM StoreCountsByWeek WHERE StoreCountsByWeek.StoreID=Store.StoreID AND Week=1),
    Week2=(SELECT ISNULL(SUM(xCount),0) FROM StoreCountsByWeek WHERE StoreCountsByWeek.StoreID=Store.StoreID AND Week=2),
    Week3=(SELECT ISNULL(SUM(xCount),0) FROM StoreCountsByWeek WHERE StoreCountsByWeek.StoreID=Store.StoreID AND Week=3)
FROM Store
ORDER BY StoreID

One advantage to this method is that the syntax is more clear and it makes it easier to join to other tables to pull other fields into the results too.

My anecdotal results are that running this query over a couple of thousand rows completed in less than one second, and I actually had 7 subqueries. But as noted in the comments, it is more computationally expensive to do it this way, so be careful about using this method if you expect it to run on large amounts of data .

Core dump file analysis

Steps to debug coredump using GDB:

Some generic help:

gdb start GDB, with no debugging les

gdb program begin debugging program

gdb program core debug coredump core produced by program

gdb --help describe command line options

  1. First of all, find the directory where the corefile is generated.

  2. Then use ls -ltr command in the directory to find the latest generated corefile.

  3. To load the corefile use

    gdb binary path of corefile

    This will load the corefile.

  4. Then you can get the information using the bt command.

    For a detailed backtrace use bt full.

  5. To print the variables, use print variable-name or p variable-name

  6. To get any help on GDB, use the help option or use apropos search-topic

  7. Use frame frame-number to go to the desired frame number.

  8. Use up n and down n commands to select frame n frames up and select frame n frames down respectively.

  9. To stop GDB, use quit or q.

How to edit default.aspx on SharePoint site without SharePoint Designer

I was able to accomplish editing the default.aspx page by:

  • Opening the site in SharePoint Designer 2013
  • Then clicking 'All Files' to view all of the files,
  • Then right-click -> Edit file in Advanced Mode.

By doing that I was able to remove the tagprefix causing a problem on my page.

How to change TextField's height and width?

To adjust the width, you could wrap your TextField with a Container widget, like so:

Container(
  width: 100.0,
  child: TextField()
)

I'm not really sure what you're after when it comes to the height of the TextField but you could definitely have a look at the TextStyle widget, with which you can manipulate the fontSize and/or height

Container(
  width: 100.0,
  child: TextField(
    style: TextStyle(
      fontSize: 40.0,
      height: 2.0,
      color: Colors.black
    )
  )
)

Bear in mind that the height in the TextStyle is a multiplier of the font size, as per comments on the property itself:

The height of this text span, as a multiple of the font size.

When [height] is null or omitted, the line height will be determined by the font's metrics directly, which may differ from the fontSize. When [height] is non-null, the line height of the span of text will be a multiple of [fontSize] and be exactly fontSize * height logical pixels tall.

Last but not least, you might want to have a look at the decoration property of you TextField, which gives you a lot of possibilities

EDIT: How to change the inner padding/margin of the TextField

You could play around with the InputDecoration and the decoration property of the TextField. For instance, you could do something like this:

TextField(
    decoration: const InputDecoration(
        contentPadding: const EdgeInsets.symmetric(vertical: 40.0),
    )
)

How to use table variable in a dynamic sql statement?

Here is an example of using a dynamic T-SQL query and then extracting the results should you have more than one column of returned values (notice the dynamic table name):

DECLARE
@strSQLMain nvarchar(1000),
@recAPD_number_key char(10),
@Census_sub_code varchar(1),
@recAPD_field_name char(100),
@recAPD_table_name char(100),
@NUMBER_KEY varchar(10),

if object_id('[Permits].[dbo].[myTempAPD_Txt]') is not null

    DROP TABLE [Permits].[dbo].[myTempAPD_Txt]

CREATE TABLE [Permits].[dbo].[myTempAPD_Txt]
(
    [MyCol1] char(10) NULL,
    [MyCol2] char(1) NULL,

)
-- an example of what @strSQLMain is : @strSQLMain = SELECT @recAPD_number_key = [NUMBER_KEY], @Census_sub_code=TEXT_029 FROM APD_TXT0 WHERE Number_Key = '01-7212'
SET @strSQLMain = ('INSERT INTO myTempAPD_Txt SELECT [NUMBER_KEY], '+ rtrim(@recAPD_field_name) +' FROM '+ rtrim(@recAPD_table_name) + ' WHERE Number_Key = '''+ rtrim(@Number_Key) +'''')
EXEC (@strSQLMain)
SELECT @recAPD_number_key = MyCol1, @Census_sub_code = MyCol2 from [Permits].[dbo].[myTempAPD_Txt]

DROP TABLE [Permits].[dbo].[myTempAPD_Txt]

How to fix a header on scroll

I know Coop has already answered this question, but here is a version which also tracks where in the document the div is, rather than relying on a static value:

http://jsfiddle.net/gxRC9/16/

Javascript

var offset = $( ".sticky-header" ).offset();
var sticky = document.getElementById("sticky-header")

$(window).scroll(function() {

    if ( $('body').scrollTop() > offset.top){
        $('.sticky-header').addClass('fixed');
    } else {
         $('.sticky-header').removeClass('fixed');
    }

});

CSS

.fixed{
     position: fixed;
    top: 0px;
}

Make button width fit to the text

Pretty late and not sure if this was available when the question was asked, set width: auto;

Seems to do the trick

Matplotlib 2 Subplots, 1 Colorbar

As a beginner who stumbled across this thread, I'd like to add a python-for-dummies adaptation of abevieiramota's very neat answer (because I'm at the level that I had to look up 'ravel' to work out what their code was doing):

import numpy as np
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

fig, ((ax1,ax2,ax3),(ax4,ax5,ax6)) = plt.subplots(2,3)

axlist = [ax1,ax2,ax3,ax4,ax5,ax6]

first = ax1.imshow(np.random.random((10,10)), vmin=0, vmax=1)
third = ax3.imshow(np.random.random((12,12)), vmin=0, vmax=1)

fig.colorbar(first, ax=axlist)

plt.show()

Much less pythonic, much easier for noobs like me to see what's actually happening here.

ldap query for group members

'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' issue when API call made from React (Isomorphic app)

I think the answer for your question is here

To have Chrome send Access-Control-Allow-Origin in the header, just alias your localhost in your /etc/hosts file to some other domain, like:

127.0.0.1 localhost yourdomain.com

offsetTop vs. jQuery.offset().top

I think you are right by saying that people cannot click half pixels, so personally, I would use rounded jQuery offset...

Appropriate datatype for holding percent values?

Assuming two decimal places on your percentages, the data type you use depends on how you plan to store your percentages. If you are going to store their fractional equivalent (e.g. 100.00% stored as 1.0000), I would store the data in a decimal(5,4) data type with a CHECK constraint that ensures that the values never exceed 1.0000 (assuming that is the cap) and never go below 0 (assuming that is the floor). If you are going to store their face value (e.g. 100.00% is stored as 100.00), then you should use decimal(5,2) with an appropriate CHECK constraint. Combined with a good column name, it makes it clear to other developers what the data is and how the data is stored in the column.

Horizontal scroll css?

use max-width instead of width

max-width:530px;

demo:http://jsfiddle.net/FPBWr/161/

Transfer data from one HTML file to another

you can simply send the data using window.location.href first store the value to send from testing.html in the script tag, variable say

<script>
  var data = value_to_send
  window.loaction.href="next.htm?data="+data
</script>

this is sending through a get request

Mongoose: Find, modify, save

The user parameter of your callback is an array with find. Use findOne instead of find when querying for a single instance.

User.findOne({username: oldUsername}, function (err, user) {
    user.username = newUser.username;
    user.password = newUser.password;
    user.rights = newUser.rights;

    user.save(function (err) {
        if(err) {
            console.error('ERROR!');
        }
    });
});
