You can't remove from list if you're browsing it with "for each" loop. You can use Iterator. Replace:

Looks like the image is too big and the window simply doesn't fit the screen. Create window with the cv2.WINDOW_NORMAL flag, it will make it scalable. Then you can resize it to fit your screen like this:

Though you certainly can build such a device out of existing sequence operators, I would in this case be inclined to write this one up as a custom sequence operator. Something like:

Update Eclipse with Android development tools v. 23

For me it helped to delete Android 4.4W which is also API 20 and might be a cause for the conflict. So only install Android 4.4W or Android L until they fix it.

And (again this might only be for me) it only works in Android Studio not in Eclipse ...

I have used such mechanism to check if Broadcast Receiver is already registered or not. Sometimes it is needed when you register your Broadcast Receiver dynamically and do not want to make it twice or you present to the user if Broadcast Receiver is running.

Can I call jQuery's click() to follow an <a> link if I haven't bound an event handler to it with bind or click already?

If you look at the code for the $.click function, I'll bet there is a conditional statement that checks to see if the element has listeners registered for theclick event before it proceeds. Why not just get the href attribute from the link and manually change the page location?

Here is why it doesn't click through. From the trigger function, jQuery source for version 1.3.2:

After it calls handlers (if there are any), jQuery triggers an event on the object. However it only calls native handlers for click events if the element is not a link. I guess this was done purposefully for some reason. This should be true though whether an event handler is defined or not, so I'm not sure why in your case attaching an event handler caused the native onClick handler to be called. You'll have to do what I did and step through the execution to see where it is being called.

Should I mix AngularJS with a PHP framework?

It seems you may be more comfortable with developing in PHP you let this hold you back from utilizing the full potential with web applications.

It is indeed possible to have PHP render partials and whole views, but I would not recommend it.

To fully utilize the possibilities of HTML and javascript to make a web application, that is, a web page that acts more like an application and relies heavily on client side rendering, you should consider letting the client maintain all responsibility of managing state and presentation. This will be easier to maintain, and will be more user friendly.

I would recommend you to get more comfortable thinking in a more API centric approach. Rather than having PHP output a pre-rendered view, and use angular for mere DOM manipulation, you should consider having the PHP backend output the data that should be acted upon RESTFully, and have Angular present it.

Using PHP to render the view:

How the same problem can be solved with an API centric approach by outputting JSON like this:

I faced the same problem, but for some reasons the .lock file in workspace was not getting deleted. Even creating a new workspace was also getting locked.

So what I did was cleaning the windows temp folder, the %PREFETCH% folder and %TEMP% locations. Restart the system and then it allowed to delete the .lock file.

Maybe it will help someone.

How to split a dos path into its components in Python

Just like others explained - your problem stemmed from using \, which is escape character in string literal/constant. OTOH, if you had that file path string from another source (read from file, console or returned by os function) - there wouldn't have been problem splitting on '\\' or r'\'.

And just like others suggested, if you want to use \ in program literal, you have to either duplicate it \\ or the whole literal has to be prefixed by r, like so r'lite\ral' or r"lite\ral" to avoid the parser converting that \ and r to CR (carriage return) character.

There is one more way though - just don't use backslash \ pathnames in your code! Since last century Windows recognizes and works fine with pathnames which use forward slash as directory separator /! Somehow not many people know that.. but it works:

>>> var.split('/')
['d:', 'stuff', 'morestuff', 'furtherdown', 'THEFILE.txt']

This by the way will make your code work on Unix, Windows and Mac... because all of them do use / as directory separator... even if you don't want to use the predefined constants of module os.

Java NoSuchAlgorithmException - SunJSSE, sun.security.ssl.SSLContextImpl$DefaultSSLContext

Well after doing some more searching I discovered the error may be related to other issues as invalid keystores, passwords etc.

I then remembered that I had set two VM arguments for when I was testing SSL for my network connectivity.

I removed the following VM arguments to fix the problem:

-Djavax.net.ssl.keyStore=mySrvKeystore -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword=123456

Note: this keystore no longer exists so that's probably why the Exception.

Unable to install packages in latest version of RStudio and R Version.3.1.1

Not 100% certain that you have the same problem, but I found out the hard way that my job blocks each mirror site option that was offered and I was getting errors like this:

PHP mail not working for some reason

The mail function do not guarantee the actual delivery of mail. All it do is to pass the message to external program (usually sendmail). You need a properly configured SMTP server in order for this to work. Also keep in mind it does not support SMTP authentication. As others have noted, it is usually preferable to specify a minimum logging level to log that level and any others more severe than it. It seems like you are just thinking about the logging levels backwards.

However, if you want more fine-grained control over logging individual levels, you can tell log4net to log only one or more specific levels using the following syntax:

Someone else suggested .PHONY which is definitely correct. .PHONY should be used for any rule for which a date comparison between the input and the output is invalid. Since you don't have any targets of the form output: input you should use .PHONY for ALL of them!

All that said, you probably should define some variables at the top of your makefile for the various filenames, and define real make rules that have both input and output sections so you can use the benefits of make, namely that you'll only actually compile things that are necessary to copmile!

To elaborate on @serine's answer and illustrate working with non-trivial multi-valued condition: I had a need to show a "dim-out" overlay on an item for the boolean condition NOT a AND (b OR NOT c).

For background, this is a "Multiple Choice" question. If the user picks a wrong answer it becomes disabled (dimmed out and cannot be selected again). An automated agent has the ability to focus on any particular choice to give an explanation (border highlighted). When the agent focuses on an item, it should not be dimmed out even if it is disabled. All items that are not in focused are marked de-focused, and should be dimmed out.

The logic for dimming is thus:

The accepted answer lists only the filenames, but to get the top 5 files one can also use:

ls -lht | head -6

where:

-l outputs in a list format

-h makes output human readable (i.e. file sizes appear in kb, mb, etc.)

-t sorts output by placing most recently modified file first

head -6 will show 5 files because ls prints the block size in the first line of output.

I think this is a slightly more elegant and possibly more useful approach.

Why is enum class preferred over plain enum?

From Bjarne Stroustrup's C++11 FAQ:

The enum classes ("new enums", "strong enums") address three problems with traditional C++ enumerations:

  • conventional enums implicitly convert to int, causing errors when someone does not want an enumeration to act as an integer.
  • conventional enums export their enumerators to the surrounding scope, causing name clashes.
  • the underlying type of an enum cannot be specified, causing confusion, compatibility problems, and makes forward declaration impossible.

The new enums are "enum class" because they combine aspects of traditional enumerations (names values) with aspects of classes (scoped members and absence of conversions).

So, as mentioned by other users, the "strong enums" would make the code safer.

The underlying type of a "classic" enum shall be an integer type large enough to fit all the values of the enum; this is usually an int. Also each enumerated type shall be compatible with char or a signed/unsigned integer type.

This is a wide description of what an enum underlying type must be, so each compiler will take decisions on his own about the underlying type of the classic enum and sometimes the result could be surprising.

For example, I've seen code like this a bunch of times:

In the code above, some naive coder is thinking that the compiler will store the E_MY_FAVOURITE_FRUITS values into an unsigned 8bit type... but there's no warranty about it: the compiler may choose unsigned char or int or short, any of those types are large enough to fit all the values seen in the enum. Adding the field E_MY_FAVOURITE_FRUITS_FORCE8 is a burden and doesn't forces the compiler to make any kind of choice about the underlying type of the enum.

If there's some piece of code that rely on the type size and/or assumes that E_MY_FAVOURITE_FRUITS would be of some width (e.g: serialization routines) this code could behave in some weird ways depending on the compiler thoughts.

And to make matters worse, if some workmate adds carelessly a new value to our enum:

The compiler doesn't complain about it! It just resizes the type to fit all the values of the enum (assuming that the compiler were using the smallest type possible, which is an assumption that we cannot do). This simple and careless addition to the enum could subtlety break related code.

Since C++11 is possible to specify the underlying type for enum and enum class (thanks rdb) so this issue is neatly addressed:

Specifying the underlying type if a field have an expression out of the range of this type the compiler will complain instead of changing the underlying type.

I think that this is a good safety improvement.

So Why is enum class preferred over plain enum?, if we can choose the underlying type for scoped(enum class) and unscoped (enum) enums what else makes enum class a better choice?:

  • They don't convert implicitly to int.
  • They don't pollute the surrounding namespace.
  • They can be forward-declared.

How should I unit test multithreaded code?

Concurrency is a complex interplay between the memory model, hardware, caches and our code. In the case of Java at least such tests have been partly addressed mainly by jcstress. The creators of that library are known to be authors of many JVM, GC and Java concurrency features.

But even this library needs good knowledge of the Java Memory Model specification so that we know exactly what we are testing. But I think the focus of this effort is mircobenchmarks. Not huge business applications.

How to use double or single brackets, parentheses, curly braces

In Bash, test and [ are shell builtins.

The double bracket, which is a shell keyword, enables additional functionality. For example, you can use && and || instead of -a and -o and there's a regular expression matching operator =~.

Also, in a simple test, double square brackets seem to evaluate quite a lot quicker than single ones.

This is an old question, and there are many answers, most of which will be more or less helpful; however, there is one, very important and still relevant point, which none of the answers touch (providing, instead, different hacks to make build possible), and which, I think, in no way has a less importance.. on the contrary.

According to your log message, you are using Maven, which is a Project Management tool, firmly following the conventions, over configuration principle.

When Maven builds the project:

  1. it expects your project to have a particular directory structure, so that it knows where to expect what. This is called a Maven's Standard Directory Layout;
  2. during the build, it creates also proper directory structure and places files into corresponding locations/directories, and this, in compliance with the Sun Microsystems Directory Structure Standard for Java EE [web] applications.

You may incorporate many things, including maven plugins, changing/reconfiguring project root directory, etc., but better and easier is to follow the default conventions over configuration, according to which, (now is the answer to your problem) there is one simple step that can make your project work: Just place your web.xml under src\main\webapp\WEB-INF\ and try to build the project with mvn package.

Then you must select the Microsoft Vendor and the driver WAN Miniport the type that is changing, IP or IPV6 L2TP Network Monitor. After upgrading restart the computer.

I know it's a bit laborious but that was the only way that worked on all computers.

Ok I was running into the same issue. What I failed to notice is that I was using json_decode() instead of using json_encode() so for those who are going to come here please make sure you are using the right function, which is json_encode()

Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\MACHINENAME$'

NETWORK SERVICE and LocalSystem will authenticate themselves always as the correpsonding account locally (builtin\network service and builtin\system) but both will authenticate as the machine account remotely.

If you see a failure like Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\MACHINENAME$' it means that a process running as NETWORK SERVICE or as LocalSystem has accessed a remote resource, has authenticated itself as the machine account and was denied authorization.

Typical example would be an ASP application running in an app pool set to use NETWORK SERVICE credential and connecting to a remote SQL Server: the app pool will authenticate as the machine running the app pool, and is this machine account that needs to be granted access.

When access is denied to a machine account, then access must be granted to the machine account. If the server refuses to login 'DOMAIN\MACHINE$', then you must grant login rights to 'DOMAIN\MACHINE$' not to NETWORK SERVICE. Granting access to NETWORK SERVICE would allow a local process running as NETWORK SERVICE to connect, not a remote one, since the remote one will authenticate as, you guessed, DOMAIN\MACHINE$.

If you expect the asp application to connect to the remote SQL Server as a SQL login and you get exceptions about DOMAIN\MACHINE$ it means you use Integrated Security in the connection string. If this is unexpected, it means you screwed up the connection strings you use.

boost::iequals is not utf-8 compatible in the case of string. You can use boost::locale.

I guess your code relates to Windows Forms.
You call BeginInvoke if you need something to be executed asynchronously in the UI thread: change control's properties in most of the cases.
Roughly speaking this is accomplished be passing the delegate to some procedure which is being periodically executed. (message loop processing and the stuff like that)

If BeginInvoke is called for Delegate type the delegate is just invoked asynchronously.
(Invoke for the sync version.)

If you want more universal code which works perfectly for WPF and WinForms you can consider Task Parallel Library and running the Task with the according context. (TaskScheduler.FromCurrentSynchronizationContext())

And to add a little to already said by others: Lambdas can be treated either as anonymous methods or expressions.
And that is why you cannot just use var with lambdas: compiler needs a hint.

When to use IList and when to use List

There's an important thing that people always seem to overlook:

You can pass a plain array to something which accepts an IList<T> parameter, and then you can call IList.Add() and will receive a runtime exception:

Unhandled Exception: System.NotSupportedException: Collection was of a fixed size.

For example, consider the following code:

If you call that as follows, you will get a runtime exception:

int[] array = new int[0];
test(array);

This happens because using plain arrays with IList<T> violates the Liskov substitution principle.

I would really recommend that you go through a tutorial like Sun's Java Concurrency before you commence in the magical world of multithreading.

There are also a number of good books out (google for "Concurrent Programming in Java", "Java Concurrency in Practice".

To get to your answer:

In your code that must wait for the dbThread, you must have something like this:

In your dbThread's method, you would need to do something like this:

Python for and if on one line

You are producing a filtered list by using a list comprehension. i is still being bound to each and every element of that list, and the last element is still 'three', even if it was subsequently filtered out from the list being produced.

You should not use a list comprehension to pick out one element. Just use a for loop, and break to end it:

If you must have a one-liner (which would be counter to Python's philosophy, where readability matters), use the next() function and a generator expression:

What does /p mean in set /p?

For future reference, you can get help for any command by using the /? switch, which should explain what switches do what.

According to the set /? screen, the format for set /p is SET /P variable=[promptString] which would indicate that the p in /p is "prompt." It just prints in your example because <nul passes in a nul character which immediately ends the prompt so it just acts like it's printing. It's still technically prompting for input, it's just immediately receiving it.

How to install Android SDK Build Tools on the command line?

Download android SDK from developer.android.com (its currently a 149mb file for windows OS). It is worthy of note that android has removed the sdkmanager GUI but has a command line version of the sdkmanager in the bin folder which is located inside the tools folder.

  1. When inside the bin folder, hold down the shift key, right click, then select open command line here. Shift+right click >> open command line here.
  2. When the command line opens, type sdkmanager click enter.
  3. Then run type sdkmanager (space), double hyphen (--), type list sdkmanager --list (this lists all the packages in the SDK manager)
  4. Type sdkmanager (space) then package name, press enter. Eg. sdkmanager platform-tools (press enter) It will load licence agreement. With options (y/n). Enter y to accept and it will download the package you specified.

I wasn't satisfied with any of the answers presented here, since activating an environment takes a few seconds on my platform (for whatever reason)

I modified my path variable so that the environment I want as default has priority over the actual default.

In my case I used the following commands to accomplish that for the environment "py35":

setx PATH "%userprofile%\Anaconda3\envs\py35\Scripts;%PATH%"

to find out where your environment is stored, activate it and enter where python. I'm not sure yet if this approach has any downsides. Since it also changes the default path of the conda executable. If that should be the case, please comment.

svn delete --force ./SUB_DIR_NAME

Then copy them again from another root directory in the working copy that has them with:

and

svn add *

You might get warnings with the last one, but just ignore them and finally

Any solution would involve temp tables, or passing in xml/CSV and parsing in the UDF. Example: change to xml, parse in udf

In later versions of MySQL you can use the information_schema database to tell you when another table was updated:

After looking at most of the StackOverflow posts on different ways to achieve this using a TextWatcher, InputFilter, or library like CurrencyEditText I've settled on this simple solution using an OnFocusChangeListener.
