Programs & Examples On #Celery

Celery is a distributed task queue framework for Python, used for asynchronous and parallel execution.

Retrieve list of tasks in a queue in Celery

If you are using Celery+Django simplest way to inspect tasks using commands directly from your terminal in your virtual environment or using a full path to celery:

Doc: http://docs.celeryproject.org/en/latest/userguide/workers.html?highlight=revoke#inspecting-workers

$ celery inspect reserved
$ celery inspect active
$ celery inspect registered
$ celery inspect scheduled

Also if you are using Celery+RabbitMQ you can inspect the list of queues using the following command:

More info: https://linux.die.net/man/1/rabbitmqctl

$ sudo rabbitmqctl list_queues

Celery Received unregistered task of type (run example)

I had the issue with PeriodicTask classes in django-celery, while their names showed up fine when starting the celery worker every execution triggered:

KeyError: u'my_app.tasks.run'

My task was a class named 'CleanUp', not just a method called 'run'.

When I checked table 'djcelery_periodictask' I saw outdated entries and deleting them fixed the issue.

Deleting all pending tasks in celery / rabbitmq

celery 4+ celery purge command to purge all configured task queues

celery -A *APPNAME* purge

programmatically:

from proj.celery import app
app.control.purge()

all pending task will be purged. Reference: celerydoc

How to check task status in Celery?

Old question but I recently ran into this problem.

If you're trying to get the task_id you can do it like this:

import celery
from celery_app import add
from celery import uuid

task_id = uuid()
result = add.apply_async((2, 2), task_id=task_id)

Now you know exactly what the task_id is and can now use it to get the AsyncResult:

# grab the AsyncResult
result = celery.result.AsyncResult(task_id)

# print the task id
print result.task_id
09dad9cf-c9fa-4aee-933f-ff54dae39bdf

# print the AsyncResult's status
print result.status
SUCCESS

# print the result returned
print result.result

Pass variable to function in jquery AJAX success callback

Since the settings object is tied to that ajax call, you can simply add in the indexer as a custom property, which you can then access using this in the success callback:

//preloader for images on gallery pages
window.onload = function() {
    var urls = ["./img/party/","./img/wedding/","./img/wedding/tree/"];

    setTimeout(function() {
        for ( var i = 0; i < urls.length; i++ ) {
            $.ajax({
                url: urls[i],
                indexValue: i,
                success: function(data) {
                    image_link(data , this.indexValue);

                    function image_link(data, i) {
                        $(data).find("a:contains(.jpg)").each(function(){
                            console.log(i);
                            new Image().src = urls[i] + $(this).attr("href");
                        });
                    }
                }
            });
        };
    }, 1000);
};

Edit: Adding in an updated JSFiddle example, as they seem to have changed how their ECHO endpoints work: https://jsfiddle.net/djujx97n/26/.

To understand how this works see the "context" field on the ajaxSettings object: http://api.jquery.com/jquery.ajax/, specifically this note:

"The this reference within all callbacks is the object in the context option passed to $.ajax in the settings; if context is not specified, this is a reference to the Ajax settings themselves."

How to do joins in LINQ on multiple fields in single join

Just to complete this with an equivalent method chain syntax:

entity.Join(entity2, x => new {x.Field1, x.Field2},
                     y => new {y.Field1, y.Field2}, (x, y) => x);

While the last argument (x, y) => x is what you select (in the above case we select x).

MySQL Like multiple values

Like @Alexis Dufrenoy proposed, the query could be:

SELECT * FROM `table` WHERE find_in_set('sports', interests)>0 OR find_in_set('pub', interests)>0

Bootstrap modal appearing under background

none of the suggested solutions above worked for me but this technique solved the issue:

$('#myModal').on('shown.bs.modal', function() {
   //To relate the z-index make sure backdrop and modal are siblings
   $(this).before($('.modal-backdrop'));
   //Now set z-index of modal greater than backdrop
   $(this).css("z-index", parseInt($('.modal-backdrop').css('z-index')) + 1);
});

ALTER TABLE ADD COLUMN IF NOT EXISTS in SQLite

I solve it in 2 queries. This is my Unity3D script using System.Data.SQLite.

IDbCommand command = dbConnection.CreateCommand();
            command.CommandText = @"SELECT count(*) FROM pragma_table_info('Candidat') c WHERE c.name = 'BirthPlace'";
            IDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader();
            while (reader.Read())
            {
                try
                {
                    if (int.TryParse(reader[0].ToString(), out int result))
                    {
                        if (result == 0)
                        {
                            command = dbConnection.CreateCommand();
                            command.CommandText = @"ALTER TABLE Candidat ADD COLUMN BirthPlace VARCHAR";
                            command.ExecuteNonQuery();
                            command.Dispose();
                        }
                    }
                }
                catch { throw; }
            }

How to set recurring schedule for xlsm file using Windows Task Scheduler

Three important steps - How to Task Schedule an excel.xls(m) file

simply:

  1. make sure the .vbs file is correct
  2. set the Action tab correctly in Task Scheduler
  3. don't turn on "Run whether user is logged on or not"

IN MORE DETAIL...

  1. Here is an example .vbs file:

`

' a .vbs file is just a text file containing visual basic code that has the extension renamed from .txt to .vbs

'Write Excel.xls Sheet's full path here
strPath = "C:\RodsData.xlsm"

'Write the macro name - could try including module name
strMacro = "Update" '    "Sheet1.Macro2"

'Create an Excel instance and set visibility of the instance
Set objApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
objApp.Visible = True   '   or False

'Open workbook; Run Macro; Save Workbook with changes; Close; Quit Excel
Set wbToRun = objApp.Workbooks.Open(strPath)
objApp.Run strMacro     '   wbToRun.Name & "!" & strMacro
wbToRun.Save
wbToRun.Close
objApp.Quit

'Leaves an onscreen message!
MsgBox strPath & " " & strMacro & " macro and .vbs successfully completed!", vbInformation
'

`

  1. In the Action tab (Task Scheduler):

set Program/script: = C:\Windows\System32\cscript.exe

set Add arguments (optional): = C:\MyVbsFile.vbs

  1. Finally, don't turn on "Run whether user is logged on or not".

That should work.

Let me know!

Should functions return null or an empty object?

I prefer null, since it's compatible with the null-coalescing operator (??).

Querying DynamoDB by date

Given your current table structure this is not currently possible in DynamoDB. The huge challenge is to understand that the Hash key of the table (partition) should be treated as creating separate tables. In some ways this is really powerful (think of partition keys as creating a new table for each user or customer, etc...).

Queries can only be done in a single partition. That's really the end of the story. This means if you want to query by date (you'll want to use msec since epoch), then all the items you want to retrieve in a single query must have the same Hash (partition key).

I should qualify this. You absolutely can scan by the criterion you are looking for, that's no problem, but that means you will be looking at every single row in your table, and then checking if that row has a date that matches your parameters. This is really expensive, especially if you are in the business of storing events by date in the first place (i.e. you have a lot of rows.)

You may be tempted to put all the data in a single partition to solve the problem, and you absolutely can, however your throughput will be painfully low, given that each partition only receives a fraction of the total set amount.

The best thing to do is determine more useful partitions to create to save the data:

  • Do you really need to look at all the rows, or is it only the rows by a specific user?

  • Would it be okay to first narrow down the list by Month, and do multiple queries (one for each month)? Or by Year?

  • If you are doing time series analysis there are a couple of options, change the partition key to something computated on PUT to make the query easier, or use another aws product like kinesis which lends itself to append-only logging.

Locking a file in Python

Locking a file is usually a platform-specific operation, so you may need to allow for the possibility of running on different operating systems. For example:

import os

def my_lock(f):
    if os.name == "posix":
        # Unix or OS X specific locking here
    elif os.name == "nt":
        # Windows specific locking here
    else:
        print "Unknown operating system, lock unavailable"

MySQL OPTIMIZE all tables?

The MySQL Administrator (part of the MySQL GUI Tools) can do that for you on a database level.

Just select your schema and press the Maintenance button in the bottom right corner.

Since the GUI Tools have reached End-of-life status they are hard to find on the mysql page. Found them via Google: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/gui-tools/5.0.html

I don't know if the new MySQL Workbench can do that, too.

And you can use the mysqlcheck command line tool which should be able to do that, too.

How do I convert special UTF-8 chars to their iso-8859-1 equivalent using javascript?

There are libraries that do charset conversion in Javascript. But if you want something simple, this function does approximately what you want:

function stringToBytes(text) {
  const length = text.length;
  const result = new Uint8Array(length);
  for (let i = 0; i < length; i++) {
    const code = text.charCodeAt(i);
    const byte = code > 255 ? 32 : code;
    result[i] = byte;
  }
  return result;
}

If you want to convert the resulting byte array into a Blob, you would do something like this:

const originalString = 'ååå';
const bytes = stringToBytes(originalString);
const blob = new Blob([bytes.buffer], { type: 'text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1' });

Now, keep in mind that some apps do accept UTF-8 encoding, but they can't guess the encoding unless you prepend a BOM character, as explained here.

Select distinct values from a table field

In addition to the still very relevant answer of jujule, I find it quite important to also be aware of the implications of order_by() on distinct("field_name") queries. This is, however, a Postgres only feature!

If you are using Postgres and if you define a field name that the query should be distinct for, then order_by() needs to begin with the same field name (or field names) in the same sequence (there may be more fields afterward).

Note

When you specify field names, you must provide an order_by() in the QuerySet, and the fields in order_by() must start with the fields in distinct(), in the same order.

For example, SELECT DISTINCT ON (a) gives you the first row for each value in column a. If you don’t specify an order, you’ll get some arbitrary row.

If you want to e-g- extract a list of cities that you know shops in , the example of jujule would have to be adapted to this:

# returns an iterable Queryset of cities.
models.Shop.objects.order_by('city').values_list('city', flat=True).distinct('city')

What is DOM element?

Document object model.
The DOM is the way Javascript sees its containing pages' data. It is an object that includes how the HTML/XHTML/XML is formatted, as well as the browser state.

A DOM element is something like a DIV, HTML, BODY element on a page. You can add classes to all of these using CSS, or interact with them using JS.

Put Excel-VBA code in module or sheet?

In my experience it's best to put as much code as you can into well-named modules, and only put as much code as you need to into the actual worksheet objects.

Example: Any code that uses worksheet events like Worksheet_SelectionChange or Worksheet_Calculate.

How to solve "Plugin execution not covered by lifecycle configuration" for Spring Data Maven Builds

The error occurs when you use a life cycle phase that is not supported by the plugin. So the fix is to change the life cycle phase that works with the plugin.

File content into unix variable with newlines

The assignment does not remove the newline characters, it's actually the echo doing this. You need simply put quotes around the string to maintain those newlines:

echo "$testvar"

This will give the result you want. See the following transcript for a demo:

pax> cat num1.txt ; x=$(cat num1.txt)
line 1
line 2

pax> echo $x ; echo '===' ; echo "$x"
line 1 line 2
===
line 1
line 2

The reason why newlines are replaced with spaces is not entirely to do with the echo command, rather it's a combination of things.

When given a command line, bash splits it into words according to the documentation for the IFS variable:

IFS: The Internal Field Separator that is used for word splitting after expansion ... the default value is <space><tab><newline>.

That specifies that, by default, any of those three characters can be used to split your command into individual words. After that, the word separators are gone, all you have left is a list of words.

Combine that with the echo documentation (a bash internal command), and you'll see why the spaces are output:

echo [-neE] [arg ...]: Output the args, separated by spaces, followed by a newline.

When you use echo "$x", it forces the entire x variable to be a single word according to bash, hence it's not split. You can see that with:

pax> function count {
...>    echo $#
...> }
pax> count 1 2 3
3
pax> count a b c d
4
pax> count $x
4
pax> count "$x"
1

Here, the count function simply prints out the number of arguments given. The 1 2 3 and a b c d variants show it in action.

Then we try it with the two variations on the x variable. The one without quotes shows that there are four words, "test", "1", "test" and "2". Adding the quotes makes it one single word "test 1\ntest 2".

Configuring Git over SSH to login once

I have being trying to avoid typing the passphrase all the time also because i am using ssh on windows. What i did was to modify my .profile file, so that i enter my passphrase one in a particular session. So this is the piece of code:

    SSH_ENV="$HOME/.ssh/environment"

    # start the ssh-agent
    function start_agent {
        echo "Initializing new SSH agent..."
        # spawn ssh-agent
        ssh-agent | sed 's/^echo/#echo/' > "$SSH_ENV"
        echo succeeded
        chmod 600 "$SSH_ENV"
        . "$SSH_ENV" > /dev/null
        ssh-add
    }

    # test for identities
    function test_identities {
        # test whether standard identities have been added to the agent already
        ssh-add -l | grep "The agent has no identities" > /dev/null
        if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
            ssh-add
            # $SSH_AUTH_SOCK broken so we start a new proper agent
            if [ $? -eq 2 ];then
                start_agent
            fi
        fi
    }

    # check for running ssh-agent with proper $SSH_AGENT_PID
    if [ -n "$SSH_AGENT_PID" ]; then
        ps -fU$USER | grep "$SSH_AGENT_PID" | grep ssh-agent > /dev/null
        if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
      test_identities
        fi
    # if $SSH_AGENT_PID is not properly set, we might be able to load one from
    # $SSH_ENV
    else
        if [ -f "$SSH_ENV" ]; then
      . "$SSH_ENV" > /dev/null
        fi
        ps -fU$USER | grep "$SSH_AGENT_PID" | grep ssh-agent > /dev/null
        if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then
            test_identities
        else
            start_agent
        fi
    fi

so with this i type my passphrase once in a session..

Show/Hide Table Rows using Javascript classes

JQuery 10.1.2 has a nice show and hide functions that encapsulate the behavior you are talking about. This would save you having to write a new function or keep track of css classes.

Readably print out a python dict() sorted by key

You could transform this dict a little to ensure that (as dicts aren't kept sorted internally), e.g.

How to do date/time comparison

Recent protocols prefer usage of RFC3339 per golang time package documentation.

In general RFC1123Z should be used instead of RFC1123 for servers that insist on that format, and RFC3339 should be preferred for new protocols. RFC822, RFC822Z, RFC1123, and RFC1123Z are useful for formatting; when used with time.Parse they do not accept all the time formats permitted by the RFCs.

cutOffTime, _ := time.Parse(time.RFC3339, "2017-08-30T13:35:00Z")
// POSTDATE is a date time field in DB (datastore)
query := datastore.NewQuery("db").Filter("POSTDATE >=", cutOffTime).

Batch file. Delete all files and folders in a directory

I just put this together from what morty346 posted:

set folder="C:\test"
IF EXIST "%folder%" (
    cd /d %folder%
    for /F "delims=" %%i in ('dir /b') do (rmdir "%%i" /s/q || del "%%i" /s/q)
)

It adds a quick check that the folder defined in the variable exists first, changes directory to the folder, and deletes the contents.

Properly escape a double quote in CSV

Not only double quotes, you will be in need for single quote ('), double quote ("), backslash (\) and NUL (the NULL byte).

Use fputcsv() to write, and fgetcsv() to read, which will take care of all.

Deleting elements from std::set while iterating

If you run your program through valgrind, you'll see a bunch of read errors. In other words, yes, the iterators are being invalidated, but you're getting lucky in your example (or really unlucky, as you're not seeing the negative effects of undefined behavior). One solution to this is to create a temporary iterator, increment the temp, delete the target iterator, then set the target to the temp. For example, re-write your loop as follows:

std::set<int>::iterator it = numbers.begin();
std::set<int>::iterator tmp;

// iterate through the set and erase all even numbers
for ( ; it != numbers.end(); )
{
    int n = *it;
    if (n % 2 == 0)
    {
        tmp = it;
        ++tmp;
        numbers.erase(it);
        it = tmp;
    }
    else
    {
        ++it;
    }
}

Setting the default Java character encoding

I can't answer your original question but I would like to offer you some advice -- don't depend on the JVM's default encoding. It's always best to explicitly specify the desired encoding (i.e. "UTF-8") in your code. That way, you know it will work even across different systems and JVM configurations.

Max or Default?

Just to let everyone out there know that is using Linq to Entities the methods above will not work...

If you try to do something like

var max = new[]{0}
      .Concat((From y In context.MyTable _
               Where y.MyField = value _
               Select y.MyCounter))
      .Max();

It will throw an exception:

System.NotSupportedException: The LINQ expression node type 'NewArrayInit' is not supported in LINQ to Entities..

I would suggest just doing

(From y In context.MyTable _
                   Where y.MyField = value _
                   Select y.MyCounter))
          .OrderByDescending(x=>x).FirstOrDefault());

And the FirstOrDefault will return 0 if your list is empty.

What is the correct way to create a single-instance WPF application?

You could use the Mutex class, but you will soon find out that you will need to implement the code to pass the arguments and such yourself. Well, I learned a trick when programming in WinForms when I read Chris Sell's book. This trick uses logic that is already available to us in the framework. I don't know about you, but when I learn about stuff I can reuse in the framework, that is usually the route I take instead of reinventing the wheel. Unless of course it doesn't do everything I want.

When I got into WPF, I came up with a way to use that same code, but in a WPF application. This solution should meet your needs based off your question.

First, we need to create our application class. In this class we are going override the OnStartup event and create a method called Activate, which will be used later.

public class SingleInstanceApplication : System.Windows.Application
{
    protected override void OnStartup(System.Windows.StartupEventArgs e)
    {
        // Call the OnStartup event on our base class
        base.OnStartup(e);

        // Create our MainWindow and show it
        MainWindow window = new MainWindow();
        window.Show();
    }

    public void Activate()
    {
        // Reactivate the main window
        MainWindow.Activate();
    }
}

Second, we will need to create a class that can manage our instances. Before we go through that, we are actually going to reuse some code that is in the Microsoft.VisualBasic assembly. Since, I am using C# in this example, I had to make a reference to the assembly. If you are using VB.NET, you don't have to do anything. The class we are going to use is WindowsFormsApplicationBase and inherit our instance manager off of it and then leverage properties and events to handle the single instancing.

public class SingleInstanceManager : Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase
{
    private SingleInstanceApplication _application;
    private System.Collections.ObjectModel.ReadOnlyCollection<string> _commandLine;

    public SingleInstanceManager()
    {
        IsSingleInstance = true;
    }

    protected override bool OnStartup(Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.StartupEventArgs eventArgs)
    {
        // First time _application is launched
        _commandLine = eventArgs.CommandLine;
        _application = new SingleInstanceApplication();
        _application.Run();
        return false;
    }

    protected override void OnStartupNextInstance(StartupNextInstanceEventArgs eventArgs)
    {
        // Subsequent launches
        base.OnStartupNextInstance(eventArgs);
        _commandLine = eventArgs.CommandLine;
        _application.Activate();
    }
}

Basically, we are using the VB bits to detect single instance's and process accordingly. OnStartup will be fired when the first instance loads. OnStartupNextInstance is fired when the application is re-run again. As you can see, I can get to what was passed on the command line through the event arguments. I set the value to an instance field. You could parse the command line here, or you could pass it to your application through the constructor and the call to the Activate method.

Third, it's time to create our EntryPoint. Instead of newing up the application like you would normally do, we are going to take advantage of our SingleInstanceManager.

public class EntryPoint
{
    [STAThread]
    public static void Main(string[] args)
    {
        SingleInstanceManager manager = new SingleInstanceManager();
        manager.Run(args);
    }
}

Well, I hope you are able to follow everything and be able use this implementation and make it your own.

How to get a list of properties with a given attribute?

If you deal regularly with Attributes in Reflection, it is very, very practical to define some extension methods. You will see that in many projects out there. This one here is one I often have:

public static bool HasAttribute<T>(this ICustomAttributeProvider provider) where T : Attribute
{
  var atts = provider.GetCustomAttributes(typeof(T), true);
  return atts.Length > 0;
}

which you can use like typeof(Foo).HasAttribute<BarAttribute>();

Other projects (e.g. StructureMap) have full-fledged ReflectionHelper classes that use Expression trees to have a fine syntax to identity e.g. PropertyInfos. Usage then looks like that:

ReflectionHelper.GetProperty<Foo>(x => x.MyProperty).HasAttribute<BarAttribute>()

WebDriver - wait for element using Java

You can use Explicit wait or Fluent Wait

Example of Explicit Wait -

WebDriverWait wait = new WebDriverWait(WebDriverRefrence,20);
WebElement aboutMe;
aboutMe= wait.until(ExpectedConditions.visibilityOfElementLocated(By.id("about_me")));

Example of Fluent Wait -

Wait<WebDriver> wait = new FluentWait<WebDriver>(driver)
.withTimeout(20, TimeUnit.SECONDS)
.pollingEvery(5, TimeUnit.SECONDS)
.ignoring(NoSuchElementException.class);

  WebElement aboutMe= wait.until(new Function<WebDriver, WebElement>() {
public WebElement apply(WebDriver driver) {
return driver.findElement(By.id("about_me"));
 }
});

Would work with tbl_id and row_nr having UNIQUE key.

This is the method DocJonas linked to with an example.

Can I override and overload static methods in Java?

static methods are class level methods.

Select dropdown with fixed width cutting off content in IE

I found a pretty straightforward fix for this. In the <select> html element add these properties:

onmouseover="autoWidth(this)"
onblur="resetWidth(this)"

So whenever user clicks on that the width will automatically expand, and user moves out of the select box, the width will be reset to original.

How do I show a "Loading . . . please wait" message in Winforms for a long loading form?

I put some animated gif in a form called FormWait and then I called it as:

// show the form
new Thread(() => new FormWait().ShowDialog()).Start();

// do the heavy stuff here

// get the form reference back and close it
FormWait f = new FormWait();
f = (FormWait)Application.OpenForms["FormWait"];
f.Close();

Does Go have "if x in" construct similar to Python?

This is as close as I can get to the natural feel of Python's "in" operator. You have to define your own type. Then you can extend the functionality of that type by adding a method like "has" which behaves like you'd hope.

package main

import "fmt"

type StrSlice []string

func (list StrSlice) Has(a string) bool {
    for _, b := range list {
        if b == a {
            return true
        }
    }
    return false
}

func main() {
    var testList = StrSlice{"The", "big", "dog", "has", "fleas"}

    if testList.Has("dog") {
        fmt.Println("Yay!")
    }
}

I have a utility library where I define a few common things like this for several types of slices, like those containing integers or my own other structs.

Yes, it runs in linear time, but that's not the point. The point is to ask and learn what common language constructs Go has and doesn't have. It's a good exercise. Whether this answer is silly or useful is up to the reader.

How can I get Eclipse to show .* files?

If you're using Eclipse PDT, this is done by opening up the PHP explorer view, then clicking the upside-down triangle in the top-right of that window. A context window appears, and the filters option is available there. Clicking the Filters menu option opens a new window, where .* files can be unchecked, thus allowing the editing of .htaccess files.

I searched forever for this, so I'm sorta answering my own question here. I'm sure someone else will have the same problem too, so I hope this helps someone else as well.

Decorators with parameters?

Here is a slightly modified version of t.dubrownik's answer. Why?

  1. As a general template, you should return the return value from the original function.
  2. This changes the name of the function, which could affect other decorators / code.

So use @functools.wraps():

from functools import wraps

def decorator(argument):
    def real_decorator(function):
        @wraps(function)
        def wrapper(*args, **kwargs):
            funny_stuff()
            something_with_argument(argument)
            retval = function(*args, **kwargs)
            more_funny_stuff()
            return retval
        return wrapper
    return real_decorator

Multiple FROMs - what it means

The first answer is too complex, historic, and uninformative for my tastes.

It's actually rather simple. Docker provides for a functionality called multi-stage builds the basic idea here is to,

  • Free you from having to manually remove what you don't want, by forcing you to whitelist what you do want,
  • Free resources that would otherwise be taken up because of Docker's implementation.

Let's start with the first. Very often with something like Debian you'll see.

RUN apt-get update \
  && apt-get dist-upgrade \
  && apt-get install <whatever> \
  && apt-get clean

We can explain all of this in terms of the above. The above command is chained together so it represents a single change with no intermediate Images required. If it was written like this,

RUN apt-get update ;
RUN apt-get dist-upgrade;
RUN apt-get install <whatever>;
RUN apt-get clean;

It would result in 3 more temporary intermediate Images. Having it reduced to one image, there is one remaining problem: apt-get clean doesn't clean up artifacts used in the install. If a Debian maintainer includes in his install a script that modifies the system that modification will also be present in the final solution (see something like pepperflashplugin-nonfree for an example of that).

By using a multi-stage build you get all the benefits of a single changed action, but it will require you to manually whitelist and copy over files that were introduced in the temporary image using the COPY --from syntax documented here. Moreover, it's a great solution where there is no alternative (like an apt-get clean), and you would otherwise have lots of un-needed files in your final image.

How do I send a POST request as a JSON?

You have to add header,or you will get http 400 error. The code works well on python2.6,centos5.4

code:

    import urllib2,json

    url = 'http://www.google.com/someservice'
    postdata = {'key':'value'}

    req = urllib2.Request(url)
    req.add_header('Content-Type','application/json')
    data = json.dumps(postdata)

    response = urllib2.urlopen(req,data)

How to Deserialize XML document

You have two possibilities.

Method 1. XSD tool

Suppose that you have your XML file in this location C:\path\to\xml\file.xml

  1. Open Developer Command Prompt
    You can find it in Start Menu > Programs > Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 > Visual Studio Tools Or if you have Windows 8 can just start typing Developer Command Prompt in Start screen
  2. Change location to your XML file directory by typing cd /D "C:\path\to\xml"
  3. Create XSD file from your xml file by typing xsd file.xml
  4. Create C# classes by typing xsd /c file.xsd

And that's it! You have generated C# classes from xml file in C:\path\to\xml\file.cs

Method 2 - Paste special

Required Visual Studio 2012+

  1. Copy content of your XML file to clipboard
  2. Add to your solution new, empty class file (Shift+Alt+C)
  3. Open that file and in menu click Edit > Paste special > Paste XML As Classes
    enter image description here

And that's it!

Usage

Usage is very simple with this helper class:

using System;
using System.IO;
using System.Web.Script.Serialization; // Add reference: System.Web.Extensions
using System.Xml;
using System.Xml.Serialization;

namespace Helpers
{
    internal static class ParseHelpers
    {
        private static JavaScriptSerializer json;
        private static JavaScriptSerializer JSON { get { return json ?? (json = new JavaScriptSerializer()); } }

        public static Stream ToStream(this string @this)
        {
            var stream = new MemoryStream();
            var writer = new StreamWriter(stream);
            writer.Write(@this);
            writer.Flush();
            stream.Position = 0;
            return stream;
        }

        public static T ParseXML<T>(this string @this) where T : class
        {
            var reader = XmlReader.Create(@this.Trim().ToStream(), new XmlReaderSettings() { ConformanceLevel = ConformanceLevel.Document });
            return new XmlSerializer(typeof(T)).Deserialize(reader) as T;
        }

        public static T ParseJSON<T>(this string @this) where T : class
        {
            return JSON.Deserialize<T>(@this.Trim());
        }
    }
}

All you have to do now, is:

    public class JSONRoot
    {
        public catalog catalog { get; set; }
    }
    // ...

    string xml = File.ReadAllText(@"D:\file.xml");
    var catalog1 = xml.ParseXML<catalog>();

    string json = File.ReadAllText(@"D:\file.json");
    var catalog2 = json.ParseJSON<JSONRoot>();

Better way to find last used row

This function should do the trick if you want to specify a particular sheet. I took the solution from user6432984 and modified it to not throw any errors. I am using Excel 2016 so it may not work for older versions:

Function findLastRow(ByVal inputSheet As Worksheet) As Integer
    findLastRow = inputSheet.cellS(inputSheet.Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
End Function

This is the code to run if you are already working in the sheet you want to find the last row of:

Dim lastRow as Integer
lastRow = cellS(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row

How to get pixel data from a UIImage (Cocoa Touch) or CGImage (Core Graphics)?

Swift 5 version

The answers given here are either outdated or incorrect because they don't take into account the following:

  1. The pixel size of the image can differ from its point size that is returned by image.size.width/image.size.height.
  2. There can be various layouts used by pixel components in the image, such as BGRA, ABGR, ARGB etc. or may not have an alpha component at all, such as BGR and RGB. For example, UIView.drawHierarchy(in:afterScreenUpdates:) method can produce BGRA images.
  3. Color components can be premultiplied by the alpha for all pixels in the image and need to be divided by alpha in order to restore the original color.
  4. For memory optimization used by CGImage, the size of a pixel row in bytes can be greater than the mere multiplication of the pixel width by 4.

The code below is to provide a universal Swift 5 solution to get the UIColor of a pixel for all such special cases. The code is optimized for usability and clarity, not for performance.

public extension UIImage {

    var pixelWidth: Int {
        return cgImage?.width ?? 0
    }

    var pixelHeight: Int {
        return cgImage?.height ?? 0
    }

    func pixelColor(x: Int, y: Int) -> UIColor {
        assert(
            0..<pixelWidth ~= x && 0..<pixelHeight ~= y,
            "Pixel coordinates are out of bounds")

        guard
            let cgImage = cgImage,
            let data = cgImage.dataProvider?.data,
            let dataPtr = CFDataGetBytePtr(data),
            let colorSpaceModel = cgImage.colorSpace?.model,
            let componentLayout = cgImage.bitmapInfo.componentLayout
        else {
            assertionFailure("Could not get a pixel of an image")
            return .clear
        }

        assert(
            colorSpaceModel == .rgb,
            "The only supported color space model is RGB")
        assert(
            cgImage.bitsPerPixel == 32 || cgImage.bitsPerPixel == 24,
            "A pixel is expected to be either 4 or 3 bytes in size")

        let bytesPerRow = cgImage.bytesPerRow
        let bytesPerPixel = cgImage.bitsPerPixel/8
        let pixelOffset = y*bytesPerRow + x*bytesPerPixel

        if componentLayout.count == 4 {
            let components = (
                dataPtr[pixelOffset + 0],
                dataPtr[pixelOffset + 1],
                dataPtr[pixelOffset + 2],
                dataPtr[pixelOffset + 3]
            )

            var alpha: UInt8 = 0
            var red: UInt8 = 0
            var green: UInt8 = 0
            var blue: UInt8 = 0

            switch componentLayout {

                red = components.2

Convert character to Date in R

You may be overcomplicating things, is there any reason you need the stringr package?

 df <- data.frame(Date = c("10/9/2009 0:00:00", "10/15/2009 0:00:00"))
 as.Date(df$Date, "%m/%d/%Y %H:%M:%S")

[1] "2009-10-09" "2009-10-15"

More generally and if you need the time component as well, use strptime:

strptime(df$Date, "%m/%d/%Y %H:%M:%S")

I'm guessing at what your actual data might look at from the partial results you give.

Command prompt won't change directory to another drive

If you want to change from current working directory to another directory then in the command prompt you need to type the name of the drive you need to change to, followed by : symbol. example: assume that you want to change to D-drive and you are in C-drive currently, then type D: and hit Enter.

On the other hand if you wish to change directory within same working directory then use cd(change directory) command followed by directory name. example: assuming you wish to change to new folder then type: cd "new folder" and hit enter.

Tips to use CMD: Windows command line are not case sensitive. When working with a file or directory with a space, surround it in quotes. For example, My Documents would be "My Documents". When a file or directory is deleted in the command line, it is not moved into the Recycle bin. If you need help with any of command type /? after the command. For example, dir /? would give the options available for the dir command.

one other thing that you should be aware of, shadows will not show if you have this line in the manifest:

I tried all of the suggested stuff but it only worked for me when i removed the line, the reason i had the line was because my app works with a number of bitmap images and they were causing the app to crash.

Performing user authentication in Java EE / JSF using j_security_check

It should be mentioned that it is an option to completely leave authentication issues to the front controller, e.g. an Apache Webserver and evaluate the HttpServletRequest.getRemoteUser() instead, which is the JAVA representation for the REMOTE_USER environment variable. This allows also sophisticated log in designs such as Shibboleth authentication. Filtering Requests to a servlet container through a web server is a good design for production environments, often mod_jk is used to do so.

How to update column value in laravel

You may try this:

Page::where('id', $id)->update(array('image' => 'asdasd'));

There are other ways too but no need to use Page::find($id); in this case. But if you use find() then you may try it like this:

$page = Page::find($id);

// Make sure you've got the Page model
if($page) {
    $page->image = 'imagepath';
    $page->save();
}

Also you may use:

$page = Page::findOrFail($id);

So, it'll throw an exception if the model with that id was not found.

How to add a .dll reference to a project in Visual Studio

Copy the downloaded DLL file in a custom folder on your dev drive, then add the reference to your project using the Browse button in the Add Reference dialog.
Be sure that the new reference has the Copy Local = True.
The Add Reference dialog could be opened right-clicking on the References item in your project in Solution Explorer

UPDATE AFTER SOME YEARS
At the present time the best way to resolve all those problems is through the
Manage NuGet packages menu command of Visual Studio 2017/2019.
You can right click on the References node of your project and select that command. From the Browse tab search for the library you want to use in the NuGet repository, click on the item if found and then Install it. (Of course you need to have a package for that DLL and this is not guaranteed to exist)

C# "internal" access modifier when doing unit testing

Adding to Eric's answer, you can also configure this in the csproj file:

<ItemGroup>
    <AssemblyAttribute Include="System.Runtime.CompilerServices.InternalsVisibleTo">
      <_Parameter1>MyTests</_Parameter1>
    </AssemblyAttribute>
</ItemGroup>

Or if you have one test project per project to be tested, you could do something like this in your Directory.Build.props file:

<ItemGroup>
    <AssemblyAttribute Include="System.Runtime.CompilerServices.InternalsVisibleTo">
      <_Parameter1>$(MSBuildProjectName).Test</_Parameter1>
    </AssemblyAttribute>
</ItemGroup>

How do I get logs/details of ansible-playbook module executions?

Ansible command-line help, such as ansible-playbook --help shows how to increase output verbosity by setting the verbose mode (-v) to more verbosity (-vvv) or to connection debugging verbosity (-vvvv). This should give you some of the details you're after in stdout, which you can then be logged.

Eclipse error: R cannot be resolved to a variable

The R file can't be generated if your layout contains errors. If your res folder is empty, then it's safe to assume that there's no res/layout folder with any layouts in it, but your activity is probably calling setContentView and not finding anything -- that qualifies as a problem with your layout.

Parse JSON String into List<string>

Wanted to post this as a comment as a side note to the accepted answer, but that got a bit unclear. So purely as a side note:

If you have no need for the objects themselves and you want to have your project clear of further unused classes, you can parse with something like:

var list = JObject.Parse(json)["People"].Select(el => new { FirstName = (string)el["FirstName"], LastName = (string)el["LastName"] }).ToList();

var firstNames = list.Select(p => p.FirstName).ToList();
var lastNames = list.Select(p => p.LastName).ToList();

Even when using a strongly typed person class, you can still skip the root object by creating a list with JObject.Parse(json)["People"].ToObject<List<Person>>() Of course, if you do need to reuse the objects, it's better to create them from the start. Just wanted to point out the alternative ;)

How to output a comma delimited list in jinja python template?

And using the joiner from http://jinja.pocoo.org/docs/dev/templates/#joiner

{% set comma = joiner(",") %}
{% for user in userlist %}
    {{ comma() }}<a href="/profile/{{ user }}/">{{ user }}</a>
{% endfor %}

It's made for this exact purpose. Normally a join or a check of forloop.last would suffice for a single list, but for multiple groups of things it's useful.

A more complex example on why you would use it.

{% set pipe = joiner("|") %}
{% if categories %} {{ pipe() }}
    Categories: {{ categories|join(", ") }}
{% endif %}
{% if author %} {{ pipe() }}
    Author: {{ author() }}
{% endif %}
{% if can_edit %} {{ pipe() }}
    <a href="?action=edit">Edit</a>
{% endif %}

PHP, getting variable from another php-file

You could also use a session for passing small bits of info. You will need to have session_start(); at the top of the PHP pages that use the session else the variables will not be accessable

page1.php

<?php

   session_start();
   $_SESSION['superhero'] = "batman";

?>
<a href="page2.php" title="">Go to the other page</a>

page2.php

<?php

   session_start(); // this NEEDS TO BE AT THE TOP of the page before any output etc
   echo $_SESSION['superhero'];

?>

Maven Modules + Building a Single Specific Module

You say you "really just want B", but this is false. You want B, but you also want an updated A if there have been any changes to it ("active development").

So, sometimes you want to work with A, B, and C. For this case you have aggregator project P. For the case where you want to work with A and B (but do not want C), you should create aggregator project Q.

Edit 2016: The above information was perhaps relevant in 2009. As of 2016, I highly recommend ignoring this in most cases, and simply using the -am or -pl command-line flags as described in the accepted answer. If you're using a version of maven from before v2.1, change that first :)

Private Variables and Methods in Python

Double underscore. That mangles the name. The variable can still be accessed, but it's generally a bad idea to do so.

Use single underscores for semi-private (tells python developers "only change this if you absolutely must") and doubles for fully private.

This is used to DTMF calling systems. If call is drop then, you should pass more " , " between numbers.

How to save public key from a certificate in .pem format

There are a couple ways to do this.

First, instead of going into openssl command prompt mode, just enter everything on one command line from the Windows prompt:

E:\> openssl x509 -pubkey -noout -in cert.pem  > pubkey.pem

If for some reason, you have to use the openssl command prompt, just enter everything up to the ">". Then OpenSSL will print out the public key info to the screen. You can then copy this and paste it into a file called pubkey.pem.

openssl> x509 -pubkey -noout -in cert.pem

Output will look something like this:

What is LDAP used for?

LDAP is just a protocol to access structured information. LDAP has standardized local and remote access to information whereas in case of database there is only standardized local access and remote access is proprietary.

LDAP server is optimized for search operation and database for transactions(Insert/Delete).

For more information refer following link:

http://www.itszero.in/2013/09/what-is-ldap-ad-adam.html

Javascript: getFullyear() is not a function

You are overwriting the start date object with the value of a DOM Element with an id of Startdate.

This should work:

var start = new Date(document.getElementById('Stardate').value);

var y = start.getFullYear();

Copying files from one directory to another in Java

For now this should solve your problem

File source = new File("H:\\work-temp\\file");
File dest = new File("H:\\work-temp\\file2");
try {
    FileUtils.copyDirectory(source, dest);
} catch (IOException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
}

FileUtils class from apache commons-io library, available since version 1.2.

Using third party tools instead of writing all utilities by ourself seems to be a better idea. It can save time and other valuable resources.

How should I throw a divide by zero exception in Java without actually dividing by zero?

There are two ways you could do this. Either create your own custom exception class to represent a divide by zero error or throw the same type of exception the java runtime would throw in this situation.

Define custom exception

public class DivideByZeroException() extends ArithmeticException {
}

Then in your code you would check for a divide by zero and throw this exception:

if (divisor == 0) throw new DivideByZeroException();

Throw ArithmeticException

Add to your code the check for a divide by zero and throw an arithmetic exception:

if (divisor == 0) throw new java.lang.ArithmeticException("/ by zero");

Additionally, you could consider throwing an illegal argument exception since a divisor of zero is an incorrect argument to pass to your setKp() method:

if (divisor == 0) throw new java.lang.IllegalArgumentException("divisor == 0");

How to find a value in an array of objects in JavaScript?

If You want to find a specific object via search function just try something like this:

    function findArray(value){

        let countLayer = dataLayer.length;
        for(var x = 0 ; x < countLayer ; x++){

            if(dataLayer[x].user){
                let newArr = dataLayer[x].user;
                let data = newArr[value];
                return data;
            }

        }

        return null;

    }

    findArray("id");

This is an example object:

layerObj = {
    0: { gtm.start :1232542, event: "gtm.js"},
    1: { event: "gtm.dom", gtm.uniqueEventId: 52},
    2: { visitor id: "abcdef2345"},
    3: { user: { id: "29857239", verified: "Null", user_profile: "Personal", billing_subscription: "True", partners_user: "adobe"}
}

Code will iterate and find the "user" array and will search for the object You seek inside.

My problem was when the array index changed every window refresh and it was either in 3rd or second array, but it does not matter.

Worked like a charm for Me!

In Your example it is a bit shorter:

function findArray(value){

    let countLayer = Object.length;
    for(var x = 0 ; x < countLayer ; x++){

        if(Object[x].dinner === value){
            return Object[x];
        }

    }

    return null;

}

findArray('sushi');

How to grep (search) committed code in the Git history

My favorite way to do it is with git log's -G option (added in version 1.7.4).

-G<regex>
       Look for differences whose added or removed line matches the given <regex>.

There is a subtle difference between the way the -G and -S options determine if a commit matches:

  • The -S option essentially counts the number of times your search matches in a file before and after a commit. The commit is shown in the log if the before and after counts are different. This will not, for example, show commits where a line matching your search was moved.
  • With the -G option, the commit is shown in the log if your search matches any line that was added, removed, or changed.

Take this commit as an example:

diff --git a/test b/test
index dddc242..60a8ba6 100644
--- a/test
+++ b/test
@@ -1 +1 @@
-hello hello
+hello goodbye hello

Because the number of times "hello" appears in the file is the same before and after this commit, it will not match using -Shello. However, since there was a change to a line matching hello, the commit will be shown using -Ghello.

Save and load MemoryStream to/from a file

Assuming that MemoryStream name is ms.

This code writes down MemoryStream to a file:

using (FileStream file = new FileStream("file.bin", FileMode.Create, System.IO.FileAccess.Write)) {
   byte[] bytes = new byte[ms.Length];
   ms.Read(bytes, 0, (int)ms.Length);
   file.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length);
   ms.Close();
}

and this reads a file to a MemoryStream :

using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream())
using (FileStream file = new FileStream("file.bin", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read)) {
   byte[] bytes = new byte[file.Length];
   file.Read(bytes, 0, (int)file.Length);
   ms.Write(bytes, 0, (int)file.Length);
}

In .Net Framework 4+, You can simply copy FileStream to MemoryStream and reverse as simple as this:

MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream();
using (FileStream file = new FileStream("file.bin", FileMode.Open, FileAccess.Read))
    file.CopyTo(ms);

And the Reverse (MemoryStream to FileStream):

using (FileStream file = new FileStream("file.bin", FileMode.Create, System.IO.FileAccess.Write))
    ms.CopyTo(file);

Git Pull vs Git Rebase

git-pull - Fetch from and integrate with another repository or a local branch GIT PULL

Basically you are pulling remote branch to your local, example:

git pull origin master

Will pull master branch into your local repository

git-rebase - Forward-port local commits to the updated upstream head GIT REBASE

This one is putting your local changes on top of changes done remotely by other users. For example:

  • You have committed some changes on your local branch for example called SOME-FEATURE
  • Your friend in the meantime was working on other features and he merged his branch into master

Now you want to see his and your changes on your local branch. So then you checkout master branch:

git checkout master

then you can pull:

git pull origin master

and then you go to your branch:

git checkout SOME-FEATURE

and you can do rebase master to get lastest changes from it and put your branch commits on top:

git rebase master

I hope now it's a bit more clear for you.

Android getText from EditText field

You can simply get the text in editText by applying below code:

EditText editText=(EditText)findViewById(R.id.vnosZadeve);
String text=editText.getText().toString();

then you can toast string text!

Happy coding!

Updating a JSON object using Javascript

          'product_id':[314,"[LBI-W-SL-3-AG-TA004-C650-36] LAURA BONELLI-WOMEN'S-SANDAL"],
          'Username':'Steve','FatherName':'Johnson'},
          {'Id':'3','Quantity':'2','Done':'0','state':'todo',
          'product_id':[316,"[LBI-W-SL-3-AG-TA004-C650-36] LAURA BONELLI-WOMEN'S-SANDAL"],
          'Username':'Albert','FatherName':'Einstein'}];

          for (var i = 0; i < jsonObj.length; ++i) {
            if (jsonObj[i]['product_id'][0] === 314) {

                this.onemorecartonsamenumber();

                jsonObj[i]['Done'] = ""+this.quantity_done+"";

                if(jsonObj[i]['Quantity'] === jsonObj[i]['Done']){
                  console.log('both are equal');
                  jsonObj[i]['state'] = 'packed';
                }else{
                  console.log('not equal');
                  jsonObj[i]['state'] = 'todo';
                }

                console.log('quantiy',jsonObj[i]['Quantity']);
                console.log('done',jsonObj[i]['Done']);

            }
        }

        console.log('final',jsonObj);

    this.quantity_done += 1;
    console.log(this.quantity_done + 1);
  }

Catch Ctrl-C in C

Set up a trap (you can trap several signals with one handler):

signal (SIGQUIT, my_handler);
signal (SIGINT, my_handler);

Handle the signal however you want, but be aware of limitations and gotchas:

void my_handler (int sig)
{
  /* Your code here. */
}

Print values for multiple variables on the same line from within a for-loop

As an additional note, there is no need for the for loop because of R's vectorization.

This:

P <- 243.51
t <- 31 / 365
n <- 365

for (r in seq(0.15, 0.22, by = 0.01))
     A <- P * ((1 + (r/ n))^ (n * t))
     interest <- A - P
}

is equivalent to:

P <- 243.51
t <- 31 / 365
n <- 365
r <- seq(0.15, 0.22, by = 0.01)
A <- P * ((1 + (r/ n))^ (n * t))
interest <- A - P

Because r is a vector, the expression above containing it is performed for all values of the vector.

How do I find and replace all occurrences (in all files) in Visual Studio Code?

I'm using Visual Studio Code 1.8, and this feature is available. But it's a little tricky to understand at first, and (at the time of writing) the docs don't explain clearly how to use it, so here's how it works, step by step:

Invoke Replace in Files (under the Edit menu, or with shortcut Ctrl+Shift+H)

You'll see a standard Find/Replace input replacing the files pane on the left:

enter image description here

Enter your search string and the replace string, then press enter. It may churn for a second searching all files, then it'll show the proposed changes in all your project files -- but note, these changes haven't been made yet! Here's what it looks like:

enter image description here

Now you need to make the changes (and even after that, you have to save the modified files.)

You can make those changes in various ways:

1) Make all changes to all files at once.

Click the replace icon next to your replace string (note: you'll get a dialog to confirm this bulk action.)

enter image description here

2) Make all changes in a single file at once.

Click the replace icon next to the filename (note: the icon only shows up when you hover over the filename row)

enter image description here

3) Make a single change in a single file.

Click the replace icon next to the individual change: (note: the icon only shows up when you hover over the change row)

enter image description here

Finally, don't forget to save!

All those files are now modified in the editor and not yet saved to disk.

Use File -> Save All (or Ctrl+Alt+S)

Update: I'm not sure when this was added, but if you click the "Replace all" button and see this dialog, clicking "Replace" will change and save all files in one click:

How to Convert string "07:35" (HH:MM) to TimeSpan

You can convert the time using the following code.

TimeSpan _time = TimeSpan.Parse("07:35");

But if you want to get the current time of the day you can use the following code:

TimeSpan _CurrentTime = DateTime.Now.TimeOfDay;

The result will be:

03:54:35.7763461

With a object cantain the Hours, Minutes, Seconds, Ticks and etc.

How to log request and response body with Retrofit-Android?

There doesn't appear to be a way to do basic + body, but you can use FULL and filter the headers you don't want.

RestAdapter adapter = new RestAdapter.Builder()
                          .setEndpoint(syncServer)
                          .setErrorHandler(err)
                          .setConverter(new GsonConverter(gson))
                          .setLogLevel(logLevel)
                          .setLog(new RestAdapter.Log() {
                              @Override
                              public void log(String msg) {
                                  String[] blacklist = {"Access-Control", "Cache-Control", "Connection", "Content-Type", "Keep-Alive", "Pragma", "Server", "Vary", "X-Powered-By"};
                                  for (String bString : blacklist) {
                                      if (msg.startsWith(bString)) {
                                          return;
                                      }
                                  }
                                  Log.d("Retrofit", msg);
                              }
                          }).build();

It appears that when overriding the log, the body is prefixed with a tag similar to

[ 02-25 10:42:30.317 25645:26335 D/Retrofit ]

so it should be easy to log basic + body by adjusting the custom filter. I am using a blacklist, but a whitelist could also be used depending on your needs.

What is the default Precision and Scale for a Number in Oracle?

The NUMBER type can be specified in different styles:

                Resulting  Resulting  Precision
Specification   Precision  Scale      Check      Comment
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NUMBER NULL NULL NO 'maximum range and precision',
                                                 values are stored 'as given'
NUMBER(P, S)    P          S          YES        Error code: ORA-01438
NUMBER(P)       P          0          YES        Error code: ORA-01438
NUMBER(*, S)    38         S          NO

Where the precision is the total number of digits and scale is the number of digits right or left (negative scale) of the decimal point.

Oracle specifies ORA-01438 as

value larger than specified precision allowed for this column

As noted in the table, this integrity check is only active if the precision is explicitly specified. Otherwise Oracle silently rounds the inserted or updated value using some unspecified method.

How to embed fonts in CSS?

I used Ataturk's font like this. I didn't use "TTF" version. I translated orginal font version ("otf" version) to "eot" and "woof" version. Then It works in local but not working when I uploaded the files to server. So I added "TTF" version too like this. Now, It's working on Chrome and Firefox but Internet Explorer still defence. When you installed on your computer "Ataturk" font, then working IE too. But I wanted to use this font without installing.

@font-face {
    font-family: 'Ataturk';
    font-style: normal;
    font-weight: normal;
    src: url('font/ataturk.eot');
    src: local('Ataturk Regular'), url('font/ataturk.ttf') format('truetype'),
    url('font/ataturk.woff') format('woff');
}

How can I output leading zeros in Ruby?

Use String#next as the counter.

>> n = "000"

next is relatively 'clever', meaning you can even go for

>> n = "file_000"
>> 3.times { puts n.next! }
file_001
file_002
file_003

Is there a code obfuscator for PHP?

Obfuscation is only adding another layer of potential bugs and security vulnerabilities to your program. Please don't do it.

The kind of people who write obfuscation software usually seem very sketchy and non-skilled anyway.

If your code is "great", crackers will go through great lengths to spread it, regardless of whether or not it is obfuscated. If nobody knows/cares about your code, they probably won't, either.

Android: Reverse geocoding - getFromLocation

Well, I am still stumped. So here is more code.

Before I leave my map, I call SaveLocation(myMapView,myMapController); This is what ends up calling my geocoding information.

But since getFromLocation can throw an IOException, I had to do the following to call SaveLocation

try
{
    SaveLocation(myMapView,myMapController);
}
catch (IOException e)
{
    // TODO Auto-generated catch block
    e.printStackTrace();
}

Then I have to change SaveLocation by saying it throws IOExceptions :

 public void SaveLocation(MapView mv, MapController mc) throws IOException{
    //I do this :
    Geocoder myLocation = new Geocoder(getApplicationContext(), Locale.getDefault());
    List myList = myLocation.getFromLocation(latPoint, lngPoint, 1);
//...
    }

And it crashes every time.

Printing with sed or awk a line following a matching pattern

This might work for you (GNU sed):

sed -n ':a;/regexp/{n;h;p;x;ba}' file

Use seds grep-like option -n and if the current line contains the required regexp replace the current line with the next, copy that line to the hold space (HS), print the line, swap the pattern space (PS) for the HS and repeat.

how to convert integer to string?

If you really want to use String:

NSString *number = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"%d", 123];

But I would recommend using NSNumber:

NSNumber *number = [[NSNumber alloc] initWithInt:123];

Then just add it to the array.

[array addObject:number];

Don't forget to release it after that, since you created it above.

[number release];

removing new line character from incoming stream using sed

To remove newlines, use tr:

tr -d '\n'

If you want to replace each newline with a single space:

tr '\n' ' '

The error ba: Event not found is coming from csh, and is due to csh trying to match !ba in your history list. You can escape the ! and write the command:

sed ':a;N;$\!ba;s/\n/ /g' # Suitable for csh only!!

but sed is the wrong tool for this, and you would be better off using a shell that handles quoted strings more reasonably. That is, stop using csh and start using bash.

Split a string into array in Perl

You already have multiple answers to your question, but I would like to add another minor one here that might help to add something.

To view data structures in Perl you can use Data::Dumper. To print a string you can use say, which adds a newline character "\n" after every call instead of adding it explicitly.

I usually use \s which matches a whitespace character. If you add + it matches one or more whitespace characters. You can read more about it here perlre.

#!/usr/bin/perl

use strict;
use warnings;

use Data::Dumper;

use feature 'say';

my $line = "file1.gz file2.gz file3.gz";
my @abc  = split /\s+/, $line;

print Dumper \@abc;
say for @abc;

How do AX, AH, AL map onto EAX?

AX is the 16 lower bits of EAX. AH is the 8 high bits of AX (i.e. the bits 8-15 of EAX) and AL is the least significant byte (bits 0-7) of EAX as well as AX.

EAX: 12 34 56 78
AX: 56 78
AH: 56
AL: 78

Trying to get PyCharm to work, keep getting "No Python interpreter selected"

This situation occurred to me when I uninstalled a method and tried to reinstall it. My very same interpreter, which worked before, suddenly stopped working. And this error occurred.

I tried restarting my PC, reinstalling Pycharm, invalidating caches, nothing worked.

Then I went here to reinstall the interpreter: https://www.python.org/downloads/

When you install it, there's an option to fix the python.exe interpreter. Click that. My IDE went back to normal working conditions.

Print content of JavaScript object?

This will give you very nice output with indented JSON object:

alert(JSON.stringify(YOUR_OBJECT_HERE, null, 4));

The second argument alters the contents of the string before returning it. The third argument specifies how many spaces to use as white space for readability.

Making a Bootstrap table column fit to content

Kind of an old question, but I arrived here looking for this. I wanted the table to be as small as possible, fitting to it's contents. The solution was to simply set the table width to an arbitrary small number (1px for example). I even created a CSS class to handle it:

.table-fit {
    width: 1px;
}

And use it like so:

<table class="table table-fit">

Example: JSFiddle

Creating for loop until list.length

I'd try to search for the solution by google and the string Python for statement, it is as simple as that. The first link says everything. Can I exclude some concrete urls from <url-pattern> inside <filter-mapping>?

The standard Servlet API doesn't support this facility. You may want either to use a rewrite-URL filter for this like Tuckey's one (which is much similar Apache HTTPD's mod_rewrite), or to add a check in the doFilter() method of the Filter listening on /*.

String path = ((HttpServletRequest) request).getRequestURI();
if (path.startsWith("/specialpath/")) {
    chain.doFilter(request, response); // Just continue chain.
} else {
    // Do your business stuff here for all paths other than /specialpath.
}

You can if necessary specify the paths-to-be-ignored as an init-param of the filter so that you can control it in the web.xml anyway. You can get it in the filter as follows:

private String pathToBeIgnored;

public void init(FilterConfig config) {
    pathToBeIgnored = config.getInitParameter("pathToBeIgnored");
}

If the filter is part of 3rd party API and thus you can't modify it, then map it on a more specific url-pattern, e.g. /otherfilterpath/* and create a new filter on /* which forwards to the path matching the 3rd party filter.

String path = ((HttpServletRequest) request).getRequestURI();
if (path.startsWith("/specialpath/")) {
    chain.doFilter(request, response); // Just continue chain.
} else {
    request.getRequestDispatcher("/otherfilterpath" + path).forward(request, response);
}

To avoid that this filter will call itself in an infinite loop you need to let it listen (dispatch) on REQUEST only and the 3rd party filter on FORWARD only.

Generate preview image from Video file?

I recommend php-ffmpeg library.

Extracting image

You can extract a frame at any timecode using the FFMpeg\Media\Video::frame method.

This code returns a FFMpeg\Media\Frame instance corresponding to the second 42. You can pass any FFMpeg\Coordinate\TimeCode as argument, see dedicated documentation below for more information.

$frame = $video->frame(FFMpeg\Coordinate\TimeCode::fromSeconds(42));
$frame->save('image.jpg');

If you want to extract multiple images from the video, you can use the following filter:

$video
    ->filters()
    ->extractMultipleFrames(FFMpeg\Filters\Video\ExtractMultipleFramesFilter::FRAMERATE_EVERY_10SEC, '/path/to/destination/folder/')
    ->synchronize();

$video
    ->save(new FFMpeg\Format\Video\X264(), '/path/to/new/file');

By default, this will save the frames as jpg images.

You are able to override this using setFrameFileType to save the frames in another format:

$frameFileType = 'jpg'; // either 'jpg', 'jpeg' or 'png'
$filter = new ExtractMultipleFramesFilter($frameRate, $destinationFolder);
$filter->setFrameFileType($frameFileType);

$video->addFilter($filter);

How to rename files and folder in Amazon S3?

There is one software where you can play with the s3 bucket for performing different kinds of operation.

Software Name: S3 Browser

S3 Browser is a freeware Windows client for Amazon S3 and Amazon CloudFront. Amazon S3 provides a simple web services interface that can be used to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time, from anywhere on the web. Amazon CloudFront is a content delivery network (CDN). It can be used to deliver your files using a global network of edge locations.

If it's only single time then you can use the command line to perform these operations:

(1) Rename the folder in the same bucket:

s3cmd --access_key={access_key} --secret_key={secret_key} mv s3://bucket/folder1/* s3://bucket/folder2/

(2) Rename the Bucket:

s3cmd --access_key={access_key} --secret_key={secret_key} mv s3://bucket1/folder/* s3://bucket2/folder/

Where,

{access_key} = Your valid access key for s3 client

{secret_key} = Your valid scret key for s3 client

It's working fine without any problem.

Thanks

Is __init__.py not required for packages in Python 3.3+

I would say that one should omit the __init__.py only if one wants to have the implicit namespace package. If you don't know what it means, you probably don't want it and therefore you should continue to use the __init__.py even in Python 3.

Check if a string matches a regex in Bash script

I would use expr match instead of =~:

expr match "$date" "[0-9]\{8\}" >/dev/null && echo yes

This is better than the currently accepted answer of using =~ because =~ will also match empty strings, which IMHO it shouldn't. Suppose badvar is not defined, then [[ "1234" =~ "$badvar" ]]; echo $? gives (incorrectly) 0, while expr match "1234" "$badvar" >/dev/null ; echo $? gives correct result 1.

We have to use >/dev/null to hide expr match's output value, which is the number of characters matched or 0 if no match found. Note its output value is different from its exit status. The exit status is 0 if there's a match found, or 1 otherwise.

Generally, the syntax for expr is:

expr match "$string" "$lead"

Or:

expr "$string" : "$lead"

where $lead is a regular expression. Its exit status will be true (0) if lead matches the leading slice of string (Is there a name for this?). For example expr match "abcdefghi" "abc"exits true, but expr match "abcdefghi" "bcd" exits false. (Credit to @Carlo Wood for pointing out this.

session handling in jquery

In my opinion you should not load and use plugins you don't have to. This particular jQuery plugin doesn't give you anything since directly using the JavaScript sessionStorage object is exactly the same level of complexity. Nor, does the plugin provide some easier way to interact with other jQuery functionality. In addition the practice of using a plugin discourages a deep understanding of how something works. sessionStorage should be used only if its understood. If its understood, then using the jQuery plugin is actually MORE effort.

Consider using sessionStorage directly: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Guide/API/DOM/Storage#sessionStorage

This original answer may not be required but can be used for backwards compatibility.

Attempting to handle this with a single regular expression (without callback) my current ability fails me for lack of a negative look-behind in Javascript... never the less here's another concise alternative that works in most general cases - accounting for any decimal point by ignoring matches where the index of the match appears after the index of a period.

jQuery: get parent tr for selected radio button

Try this.

You don't need to prefix attribute name by @ in jQuery selector. Use closest() method to get the closest parent element matching the selector.

$("#MwDataList input[name=selectRadioGroup]:checked").closest('tr');

You can simplify your method like this

function getSelectedRowGuid() {
    return GetRowGuid(
      $("#MwDataList > input:radio[@name=selectRadioGroup]:checked :parent tr"));
}

closest() - Gets the first element that matches the selector, beginning at the current element and progressing up through the DOM tree.

As a side note, the ids of the elements should be unique on the page so try to avoid having same ids for radio buttons which I can see in your markup. If you are not going to use the ids then just remove it from the markup.

You could use the ArrayUtils.subarray in apache commons. Not perfect but a bit more intuitive than System.arraycopy. The downside is that it does introduce another dependency into your code.

Bulk Insert Correctly Quoted CSV File in SQL Server

I know this is an old topic but this feature has now been implemented since SQL Server 2017. The parameter you're looking for is FIELDQUOTE= which defaults to '"'. See more on https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/statements/bulk-insert-transact-sql?view=sql-server-2017

Google Forms file upload complete example

Go / golang time.Now().UnixNano() convert to milliseconds?

Simple-read but precise solution would be:

func nowAsUnixMilliseconds(){
    return time.Now().Round(time.Millisecond).UnixNano() / 1e6
}

This function:

  1. Correctly rounds the value to the nearest millisecond (compare with integer division: it just discards decimal part of the resulting value);
  2. Does not dive into Go-specifics of time.Duration coercion — since it uses a numerical constant that represents absolute millisecond/nanosecond divider.

P.S. I've run benchmarks with constant and composite dividers, they showed almost no difference, so feel free to use more readable or more language-strict solution.

How to change bower's default components folder?

How to add border around linear layout except at the bottom?

Create an XML file named border.xml in the drawable folder and put the following code in it.

 <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
 <layer-list xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
  <item>
    <shape android:shape="rectangle">
      <solid android:color="#FF0000" />
    </shape>
  </item>
    <item android:left="5dp" android:right="5dp"  android:top="5dp" >
     <shape android:shape="rectangle">
      <solid android:color="#000000" />
    </shape>
   </item>
 </layer-list>

Then add a background to your linear layout like this:

         android:background="@drawable/border"

EDIT :

This XML was tested with a galaxy s running GingerBread 2.3.3 and ran perfectly as shown in image below:

enter image description here

ALSO

tested with galaxy s 3 running JellyBean 4.1.2 and ran perfectly as shown in image below :

enter image description here

Finally its works perfectly with all APIs

EDIT 2 :

It can also be done using a stroke to keep the background as transparent while still keeping a border except at the bottom with the following code.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
 <layer-list xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
   <item android:left="0dp" android:right="0dp"  android:top="0dp"
        android:bottom="-10dp">
    <shape android:shape="rectangle">
     <stroke android:width="10dp" android:color="#B22222" />
    </shape>
   </item>
 </layer-list>

hope this help .

How to cancel a Task in await?

I just want to add to the already accepted answer. I was stuck on this, but I was going a different route on handling the complete event. Rather than running await, I add a completed handler to the task.

Comments.AsAsyncAction().Completed += new AsyncActionCompletedHandler(CommentLoadComplete);

Where the event handler looks like this

private void CommentLoadComplete(IAsyncAction sender, AsyncStatus status )
{
    if (status == AsyncStatus.Canceled)
    {
        return;
    }
    CommentsItemsControl.ItemsSource = Comments.Result;
    CommentScrollViewer.ScrollToVerticalOffset(0);
    CommentScrollViewer.Visibility = Visibility.Visible;
    CommentProgressRing.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed;
}

With this route, all the handling is already done for you, when the task is cancelled it just triggers the event handler and you can see if it was cancelled there.

How to extract duration time from ffmpeg output?

Argh. Forget that. It looks like I have to get the cobwebs out of my C and C++ programming and use that instead. I do not know all the shell tricks to get it to work. This is how far I got.

ffmpeg -i myfile 2>&1 | grep "" > textdump.txt

and then I would probably extract the duration with a C++ app instead by extracting tokens.

I am not posting the solution because I am not a nice person right now

Update - I have my approach to getting that duration time stamp

Step 1 - Get the media information on to a text file
`ffprobe -i myfile 2>&1 | grep "" > textdump.txt`
OR
`ffprobe -i myfile 2>&1 | awk '{ print }' > textdump.txt`

Step 2 - Home in on the information needed and extract it
cat textdump.txt | grep "Duration" | awk '{ print $2 }' | ./a.out
Notice the a.out. That is my C code to chop off the resulting comma because the output is something like 00:00:01.33,
Here is the C code that takes stdin and outputs the correct information needed. I had to take the greater and less than signs out for viewing.

#include stdio.h #include string.h void main() { //by Admiral Smith Nov 3. 2016 char time[80]; int len; char *correct; scanf("%s", &time); correct = (char *)malloc(strlen(time)); if (!correct) { printf("\nmemory error"); return; } memcpy(correct,&time,strlen(time)-1); correct[strlen(time)]='/0'; printf("%s", correct); free(correct); }

Now the output formats correctly like 00:00:01.33

com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLNonTransientConnectionException: No operations allowed after connection closed

MySQL implicitly closed the database connection because the connection has been inactive for too long (34,247,052 milliseconds ˜ 9.5 hours). If your program then fetches a bad connection from the connection-pool that causes the MySQLNonTransientConnectionException: No operations allowed after connection closed.

MySQL suggests:

You should consider either expiring and/or testing connection validity before use in your application, increasing the server configured values for client timeouts, or using the Connector/J connection property autoReconnect=true to avoid this problem.

NoClassDefFoundError - Eclipse and Android

By adding the external jar into your build path just adds the jar to your package, but it will not be available during runtime.

In order for the jar to be available at runtime, you need to:

  • Put the jar under your assets folder
  • Include this copy of the jar in your build path
  • Go to the export tab on the same popup window
  • Check the box against the newly added jar

How can I recognize touch events using jQuery in Safari for iPad? Is it possible?

jQuery Core doesn't have anything special, but you can read on jQuery Mobile Events page about different touch events, which also work on other than iOS devices as well.

They are:

  • tap
  • taphold
  • swipe
  • swipeleft
  • swiperight

Notice also, that during scroll events (based on touch on mobile devices) iOS devices freezes DOM manipulation while scrolling.

List an Array of Strings in alphabetical order

You can just use Arrays#sort(), it's working perfectly. See this example :

String [] a = {"English","German","Italian","Korean","Blablablabla.."};
//before sort
for(int i = 0;i<a.length;i++)
{
  System.out.println(a[i]);
}
Arrays.sort(a);
System.out.println("After sort :");
for(int i = 0;i<a.length;i++)
{
  System.out.println(a[i]);
}

iOS: UIButton resize according to text length

If you want to resize the text as opposed to the button, you can use ...

button.titleLabel.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = YES;
button.titleLabel.minimumScaleFactor = .5;
// The .5 value means that I will let it go down to half the original font size
// before the texts gets truncated

// note, if using anything pre ios6, you would use I think
button.titleLabel.minimumFontSize = 8;

What is the best way to declare global variable in Vue.js?

a vue3 replacement of this answer:

// Vue3

const app = Vue.createApp({})
app.config.globalProperties.$hostname = 'http://localhost:3000'

app.component('a-child-component', {
  mounted() {
    console.log(this.$hostname) // 'http://localhost:3000'
  }
})

positional argument follows keyword argument

The grammar of the language specifies that positional arguments appear before keyword or starred arguments in calls:

argument_list        ::=  positional_arguments ["," starred_and_keywords]
                            ["," keywords_arguments]
                          | starred_and_keywords ["," keywords_arguments]
                          | keywords_arguments

Specifically, a keyword argument looks like this: tag='insider trading!' while a positional argument looks like this: ..., exchange, .... The problem lies in that you appear to have copy/pasted the parameter list, and left some of the default values in place, which makes them look like keyword arguments rather than positional ones. This is fine, except that you then go back to using positional arguments, which is a syntax error.

Also, when an argument has a default value, such as price=None, that means you don't have to provide it. If you don't provide it, it will use the default value instead.

To resolve this error, convert your later positional arguments into keyword arguments, or, if they have default values and you don't need to use them, simply don't specify them at all:

order_id = kite.order_place(self, exchange, tradingsymbol,
    transaction_type, quantity)

# Fully positional:
order_id = kite.order_place(self, exchange, tradingsymbol, transaction_type, quantity, price, product, order_type, validity, disclosed_quantity, trigger_price, squareoff_value, stoploss_value, trailing_stoploss, variety, tag)

# Some positional, some keyword (all keywords at end):

order_id = kite.order_place(self, exchange, tradingsymbol,
    transaction_type, quantity, tag='insider trading!')

How to wait for all threads to finish, using ExecutorService?

You could use this code:

public class MyTask implements Runnable {

    private CountDownLatch countDownLatch;

    public MyTask(CountDownLatch countDownLatch {
         this.countDownLatch = countDownLatch;
    }

    @Override
    public void run() {
         try {
             //Do somethings
             //
             this.countDownLatch.countDown();//important
         } catch (InterruptedException ex) {
              Thread.currentThread().interrupt();
         }
     }
}

CountDownLatch countDownLatch = new CountDownLatch(NUMBER_OF_TASKS);
ExecutorService taskExecutor = Executors.newFixedThreadPool(4);
for (int i = 0; i < NUMBER_OF_TASKS; i++){
     taskExecutor.execute(new MyTask(countDownLatch));
}
countDownLatch.await();
System.out.println("Finish tasks");

How to match letters only using java regex, matches method?

"[a-zA-Z]" matches only one character. To match multiple characters, use "[a-zA-Z]+".

Since a dot is a joker for any character, you have to mask it: "abc\." To make the dot optional, you need a question mark: "abc\.?"

If you write the Pattern as literal constant in your code, you have to mask the backslash:

System.out.println ("abc".matches ("abc\\.?"));
System.out.println ("abc.".matches ("abc\\.?"));
System.out.println ("abc..".matches ("abc\\.?"));

Combining both patterns:

System.out.println ("abc.".matches ("[a-zA-Z]+\\.?"));

Instead of a-zA-Z, \w is often more appropriate, since it captures foreign characters like äöüßø and so on:

System.out.println ("abc.".matches ("\\w+\\.?"));

Adding padding to a tkinter widget only on one side

There are multiple ways of doing that you can use either place or grid or even the packmethod.

Sample code:

from tkinter import *
root = Tk()

l = Label(root, text="hello" )
l.pack(padx=6, pady=4) # where padx and pady represent the x and y axis respectively
# well you can also use side=LEFT inside the pack method of the label widget.

To place a widget to on basis of columns and rows , use the grid method:

but = Button(root, text="hello" )
but.grid(row=0, column=1)

Docker error: invalid reference format: repository name must be lowercase

In my case, the image name defined in docker-compose.yml contained uppercase letters. The fact that the error message mentioned repository instead of image did not help describe the problem and it took a while to figure out.

Setting up Gradle for api 26 (Android)

Correct way to detach from a container without stopping it

Try CTRL+P,CTRL+Q to turn interactive mode to daemon.

If this does not work and you attached through docker attach, you can detach by killing the docker attach process.

Better way is to use sig-proxy parameter to avoid passing the CTRL+C to your container :

docker attach --sig-proxy=false [container-name]

Same option is available for docker run command.

How to use onClick event on react Link component?

onClick={hello}

Sequence contains more than one element

Use FirstOrDefault insted of SingleOrDefault..

SingleOrDefault returns a SINGLE element or null if no element is found. If 2 elements are found in your Enumerable then it throws the exception you are seeing

FirstOrDefault returns the FIRST element it finds or null if no element is found. so if there are 2 elements that match your predicate the second one is ignored

Powershell script to locate specific file/file name?

To search the whole computer:

gdr -PSProvider 'FileSystem' | %{ ls -r $_.root} 2>$null | where { $_.name -eq "httpd.exe" }

How to run SQL script in MySQL?

For future reference, I've found this to work vs the aforementioned methods, under Windows in your msql console:

mysql>>source c://path_to_file//path_to_file//file_name.sql;

If your root drive isn't called "c" then just interchange with what your drive is called. First try backslashes, if they dont work, try the forward slash. If they also don't work, ensure you have your full file path, the .sql extension on the file name, and if your version insists on semi-colons, ensure it's there and try again.

One command to create a directory and file inside it linux command

Below commands I tried on Windows 10 machine with git-bash. And that worked for me. Let's say I want to create a directory named "Files" and under this directory I want to have "file1.txt,file2.txt,file3.txt" ..etc files

mkdir Files && touch $_/file1.txt $_/file2.txt $_/file3.txt
