Converting JSON to XML in Java

For json to xml use the following Jackson example:

final String str = "{\"name\":\"JSON\",\"integer\":1,\"double\":2.0,\"boolean\":true,\"nested\":{\"id\":42},\"array\":[1,2,3]}";
ObjectMapper jsonMapper = new ObjectMapper();
JsonNode node = jsonMapper.readValue(str, JsonNode.class);
XmlMapper xmlMapper = new XmlMapper();
        xmlMapper.configure(SerializationFeature.INDENT_OUTPUT, true);
        xmlMapper.configure(ToXmlGenerator.Feature.WRITE_XML_DECLARATION, true);
        xmlMapper.configure(ToXmlGenerator.Feature.WRITE_XML_1_1, true);
StringWriter w = new StringWriter();
xmlMapper.writeValue(w, node);
System.out.println(w.toString());

Prints:

<?xml version='1.1' encoding='UTF-8'?>
<ObjectNode>
  <name>JSON</name>
  <integer>1</integer>
  <double>2.0</double>
  <boolean>true</boolean>
  <nested>
    <id>42</id>
  </nested>
  <array>1</array>
  <array>2</array>
  <array>3</array>
</ObjectNode>

How do you implement a circular buffer in C?

The simplest solution would be to keep track of the item size and the number of items, and then create a buffer of the appropriate number of bytes:

typedef struct circular_buffer
{
    void *buffer;     // data buffer
    void *buffer_end; // end of data buffer
    size_t capacity; // maximum number of items in the buffer
    size_t count; // number of items in the buffer
    size_t sz; // size of each item in the buffer
    void *head; // pointer to head
    void *tail; // pointer to tail
} circular_buffer;

void cb_init(circular_buffer *cb, size_t capacity, size_t sz)
{
    cb->buffer = malloc(capacity * sz);
    if(cb->buffer == NULL)
        // handle error
    cb->buffer_end = (char *)cb->buffer + capacity * sz;
    cb->capacity = capacity;
    cb->count = 0;
    cb->sz = sz;
    cb->head = cb->buffer;
    cb->tail = cb->buffer;
}

void cb_free(circular_buffer *cb)
{
    free(cb->buffer);
    // clear out other fields too, just to be safe
}

void cb_push_back(circular_buffer *cb, const void *item)
{
    if(cb->count == cb->capacity){
        // handle error
    }
    memcpy(cb->head, item, cb->sz);
    cb->head = (char*)cb->head + cb->sz;
    if(cb->head == cb->buffer_end)
        cb->head = cb->buffer;
    cb->count++;
}

void cb_pop_front(circular_buffer *cb, void *item)
{
    if(cb->count == 0){
        // handle error
    }
    memcpy(item, cb->tail, cb->sz);
    cb->tail = (char*)cb->tail + cb->sz;
    if(cb->tail == cb->buffer_end)
        cb->tail = cb->buffer;
    cb->count--;
}

How to check if click event is already bound - JQuery

One more way - mark such buttons with a CSS class and filter:

$('#myButton:not(.bound)').addClass('bound').bind('click',  onButtonClicked);

In recent jQuery versions replace bind with on:

$('#myButton:not(.bound)').addClass('bound').on('click',  onButtonClicked);

How do I get the last four characters from a string in C#?

Using Substring is actually quite short and readable:

 var result = mystring.Substring(mystring.Length - Math.Min(4, mystring.Length));
 // result == "d124"

How to make all controls resize accordingly proportionally when window is maximized?

Well, it's fairly simple to do.

On the window resize event handler, calculate how much the window has grown/shrunk, and use that fraction to adjust 1) Height, 2) Width, 3) Canvas.Top, 4) Canvas.Left properties of all the child controls inside the canvas.

Here's the code:

private void window1_SizeChanged(object sender, SizeChangedEventArgs e)
        {
            myCanvas.Width = e.NewSize.Width;
            myCanvas.Height = e.NewSize.Height;

            double xChange = 1, yChange = 1;

            if (e.PreviousSize.Width != 0)
            xChange = (e.NewSize.Width/e.PreviousSize.Width);

            if (e.PreviousSize.Height != 0)
            yChange = (e.NewSize.Height / e.PreviousSize.Height);

            foreach (FrameworkElement fe in myCanvas.Children )
            {
                /*because I didn't want to resize the grid I'm having inside the canvas in this particular instance. (doing that from xaml) */
                if (fe is Grid == false)
                {
                    fe.Height = fe.ActualHeight * yChange;
                    fe.Width = fe.ActualWidth * xChange;

                    Canvas.SetTop(fe, Canvas.GetTop(fe) * yChange);
                    Canvas.SetLeft(fe, Canvas.GetLeft(fe) * xChange);

                }
            }
        }

Converting a factor to numeric without losing information R (as.numeric() doesn't seem to work)

First, factor consists of indices and levels. This fact is very very important when you are struggling with factor.

For example,

> z <- factor(letters[c(3, 2, 3, 4)])

# human-friendly display, but internal structure is invisible
> z
[1] c b c d
Levels: b c d

# internal structure of factor
> unclass(z)
[1] 2 1 2 3
attr(,"levels")
[1] "b" "c" "d"

here, z has 4 elements.
The index is 2, 1, 2, 3 in that order.
The level is associated with each index: 1 -> b, 2 -> c, 3 -> d.

Then, as.numeric converts simply the index part of factor into numeric.
as.character handles the index and levels, and generates character vector expressed by its level.

?as.numeric says that Factors are handled by the default method.

How to select an item in a ListView programmatically?

        int i=99;//is what row you want to select and focus
        listViewRamos.FocusedItem = listViewRamos.Items[0];
        listViewRamos.Items[i].Selected = true;
        listViewRamos.Select();
        listViewRamos.EnsureVisible(i);//This is the trick

How to comment/uncomment in HTML code

Put a space between the "-->" of your header comments. e.g. "- ->"

Extract the first (or last) n characters of a string

The stringr package provides the str_sub function, which is a bit easier to use than substr, especially if you want to extract right portions of your string :

R> str_sub("leftright",1,4)
[1] "left"
R> str_sub("leftright",-5,-1)
[1] "right"

How to fix "set SameSite cookie to none" warning?

I ended up fixing our Ubuntu 18.04 / Apache 2.4.29 / PHP 7.2 install for Chrome 80 by installing mod_headers:

a2enmod headers

Adding the following directive to our Apache VirtualHost configurations:

Header edit Set-Cookie ^(.*)$ "$1; Secure; SameSite=None"

And restarting Apache:

service apache2 restart

In reviewing the docs (http://www.balkangreenfoundation.org/manual/en/mod/mod_headers.html) I noticed the "always" condition has certain situations where it does not work from the same pool of response headers. Thus not using "always" is what worked for me with PHP but the docs suggest that if you want to cover all your bases you could add the directive both with and without "always". I have not tested that.

Keep a line of text as a single line - wrap the whole line or none at all

You can use white-space: nowrap; to define this behaviour:

// HTML:

_x000D_
_x000D_
.nowrap {_x000D_
  white-space: nowrap ;_x000D_
}
_x000D_
<p>_x000D_
      <span class="nowrap">How do I wrap this line of text</span>_x000D_
      <span class="nowrap">- asked by Peter 2 days ago</span>_x000D_
    </p>
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

// CSS:
.nowrap {
  white-space: nowrap ;
}

addID in jQuery?

I've used something like this before which addresses @scunliffes concern. It finds all instances of items with a class of (in this case .button), and assigns an ID and appends its index to the id name:

_x000D_
_x000D_
$(".button").attr('id', function (index) {_x000D_
 return "button-" + index;_x000D_
});
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

So let's say you have 3 items with the class name of .button on a page. The result would be adding a unique ID to all of them (in addition to their class of "button").

In this case, #button-0, #button-1, #button-2, respectively. This can come in very handy. Simply replace ".button" in the first line with whatever class you want to target, and replace "button" in the return statement with whatever you'd like your unique ID to be. Hope this helps!

MySQL joins and COUNT(*) from another table

Maybe I am off the mark here and not understanding the OP but why are you joining tables?

If you have a table with members and this table has a column named "group_id", you can just run a query on the members table to get a count of the members grouped by the group_id.

SELECT group_id, COUNT(*) as membercount
FROM members
GROUP BY group_id
HAVING membercount > 4

This should have the least overhead simply because you are avoiding a join but should still give you what you wanted.

If you want the group details and description etc, then add a join from the members table back to the groups table to retrieve the name would give you the quickest result.

How to prevent IFRAME from redirecting top-level window

Since the page you load inside the iframe can execute the "break out" code with a setInterval, onbeforeunload might not be that practical, since it could flud the user with 'Are you sure you want to leave?' dialogs.

There is also the iframe security attribute which only works on IE & Opera

Python copy files to a new directory and rename if file name already exists

I always use the time-stamp - so its not possible, that the file exists already:

import os
import shutil
import datetime

now = str(datetime.datetime.now())[:19]
now = now.replace(":","_")

src_dir="C:\\Users\\Asus\\Desktop\\Versand Verwaltung\\Versand.xlsx"
dst_dir="C:\\Users\\Asus\\Desktop\\Versand Verwaltung\\Versand_"+str(now)+".xlsx"
shutil.copy(src_dir,dst_dir)

How to manually install an artifact in Maven 2?

You need to indicate the groupId, the artifactId and the version for your artifact:

mvn install:install-file \
  -DgroupId=javax.transaction \
  -DartifactId=jta \
  -Dpackaging=jar \
  -Dversion=1.0.1B \
  -Dfile=jta-1.0.1B.jar \

CSS Box Shadow - Top and Bottom Only

essentially the shadow is the box shape just offset behind the actual box. in order to hide portions of the shadow, you need to create additional divs and set their z-index above the shadowed box so that the shadow is not visible.

If you'd like to have extremely specific control over your shadows, build them as images and created container divs with the right amount of padding and margins.. then use the png fix to make sure the shadows render properly in all browsers

How can I work with command line on synology?

The current windows 10 (Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.1)) has SSH built in. With that, just enable SSH from the Control Panel, Terminal & SNMP, be sure you are using an account in the Administrator's group, and you're all set.

Launch Powershell or CMD, enter ssh yourAccountName@diskstation

The first time it will cache off your certificate.

EDIT:

Further detailed explanations can be found on the synology docs page:

JAVA_HOME directory in Linux

To show the value of an environment variable you use:

echo $VARIABLE

so in your case will be:

echo $JAVA_HOME

In case you don't have it setted, you can add in your .bashrc file:

export JAVA_HOME=$(readlink -f /usr/bin/java | sed "s:bin/java::")

and it will dynamically change when you update your packages.

How to restart a node.js server

I understand that my comment relate with windows, but may be someone be useful. For win run in cmd:

wmic process where "commandline like '%my_app.js%' AND name='node.exe' " CALL Terminate

then you can run your app again:

node my_app.js

Also you can use it in batch file, with escape quotes:

wmic process where "commandline like '%%my_app.js%%' AND name='node.exe' " CALL Terminate
node my_app.js

How to inject JPA EntityManager using spring

How to include "zero" / "0" results in COUNT aggregate?

if you do the outer join (with the count), and then use this result as a sub-table, you can get 0 as expected (thanks to the nvl function)

Ex:

select P.person_id, nvl(A.nb_apptmts, 0) from
(SELECT person.person_id
FROM person) P
LEFT JOIN
(select person_id, count(*) as nb_apptmts
from appointment
group by person_id) A
ON P.person_id = A.person_id

joining two select statements

SELECT *
FROM
  (First_query) AS ONE
LEFT OUTER JOIN
  (Second_query ) AS TWO ON ONE.First_query_ID = TWO.Second_Query_ID;

Regex Letters, Numbers, Dashes, and Underscores

You can indeed match all those characters, but it's safer to escape the - so that it is clear that it be taken literally.

If you are using a POSIX variant you can opt to use:

([[:alnum:]\-_]+)

But a since you are including the underscore I would simply use:

([\w\-]+)

(works in all variants)

Difference between String replace() and replaceAll()

Q: What's the difference between the java.lang.String methods replace() and replaceAll(), other than that the latter uses regex.

A: Just the regex. They both replace all :)

http://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/docs/api/java/lang/String.html

PS:

There's also a replaceFirst() (which takes a regex)

How do I include a pipe | in my linux find -exec command?

The job of interpreting the pipe symbol as an instruction to run multiple processes and pipe the output of one process into the input of another process is the responsibility of the shell (/bin/sh or equivalent).

In your example you can either choose to use your top level shell to perform the piping like so:

find -name 'file_*' -follow -type f -exec zcat {} \; | agrep -dEOE 'grep'

In terms of efficiency this results costs one invocation of find, numerous invocations of zcat, and one invocation of agrep.

This would result in only a single agrep process being spawned which would process all the output produced by numerous invocations of zcat.

If you for some reason would like to invoke agrep multiple times, you can do:

find . -name 'file_*' -follow -type f \
    -printf "zcat %p | agrep -dEOE 'grep'\n" | sh

This constructs a list of commands using pipes to execute, then sends these to a new shell to actually be executed. (Omitting the final "| sh" is a nice way to debug or perform dry runs of command lines like this.)

In terms of efficiency this results costs one invocation of find, one invocation of sh, numerous invocations of zcat and numerous invocations of agrep.

The most efficient solution in terms of number of command invocations is the suggestion from Paul Tomblin:

find . -name "file_*" -follow -type f -print0 | xargs -0 zcat | agrep -dEOE 'grep'

... which costs one invocation of find, one invocation of xargs, a few invocations of zcat and one invocation of agrep.

How do I cancel form submission in submit button onclick event?

You need to change

onclick='btnClick();'

to

onclick='return btnClick();'

and

cancelFormSubmission();

to

return false;

That said, I'd try to avoid the intrinsic event attributes in favour of unobtrusive JS with a library (such as YUI or jQuery) that has a good event handling API and tie into the event that really matters (i.e. the form's submit event instead of the button's click event).

How to use adb command to push a file on device without sd card

As there are different paths for different versions. Here is a generic solution:

Find the path...

  1. Enter adb shell in command line.
  2. Then ls and Enter.

Now you'll see the files and directories of Android device. Now with combination of ls and cd dirName find the path to the Internal or External storage.

In the root directory, the directories names will be like mnt, sdcard, emulator0, etc

Example: adb push file.txt mnt/sdcard/myDir/Projects/

WebDriver: check if an element exists?

I agree with Mike's answer but there's an implicit 3 second wait if no elements are found which can be switched on/off which is useful if you're performing this action a lot:

driver.manage().timeouts().implicitlyWait(0, TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS);
boolean exists = driver.findElements( By.id("...") ).size() != 0
driver.manage().timeouts().implicitlyWait(3, TimeUnit.SECONDS);

Putting that into a utility method should improve performance if you're running a lot of tests

How to Logout of an Application Where I Used OAuth2 To Login With Google?

Entity Framework : How do you refresh the model when the db changes?

Are you looking at the designer or code view? You can force the designer to open by right clicking on your EDMX file and selecting Open With -> ADO.NET Entity Data Model Designer

Right click on the designer surface of the EDMX designer and click Update Model From Database...

All entities are refreshed by default, new entities are only added if you select them.

EDIT: If it is not refreshing well.

  • Select all the tables and view-s in the EDMX designer.
  • Delete them.
  • Then, update model from database

Find something in column A then show the value of B for that row in Excel 2010

I note you suggested this formula

=IF(ISNUMBER(FIND("RuhrP";F9));LOOKUP(A9;Ruhrpumpen!A$5:A$100;Ruhrpumpen!I$5:I$100);"")

.....but LOOKUP isn't appropriate here because I assume you want an exact match (LOOKUP won't guarantee that and also data in lookup range has to be sorted), so VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH would be better....and you can also use IFERROR to avoid the IF function, i.e

=IFERROR(VLOOKUP(A9;Ruhrpumpen!A$5:Z$100;9;0);"")

Note: VLOOKUP always looks up the lookup value (A9) in the first column of the "table array" and returns a value from the nth column of the "table array" where n is defined by col_index_num, in this case 9

INDEX/MATCH is sometimes more flexible because you can explicitly define the lookup column and the return column (and return column can be to the left of the lookup column which can't be the case in VLOOKUP), so that would look like this:

=IFERROR(INDEX(Ruhrpumpen!I$5:I$100;MATCH(A9;Ruhrpumpen!A$5:A$100;0));"")

INDEX/MATCH also allows you to more easily return multiple values from different columns, e.g. by using $ signs in front of A9 and the lookup range Ruhrpumpen!A$5:A$100, i.e.

=IFERROR(INDEX(Ruhrpumpen!I$5:I$100;MATCH($A9;Ruhrpumpen!$A$5:$A$100;0));"")

this version can be dragged across to get successive values from column I, column J, column K etc.....

Hive ParseException - cannot recognize input near 'end' 'string'

I solved this issue by doing like that:

insert into my_table(my_field_0, ..., my_field_n) values(my_value_0, ..., my_value_n)

XAMPP Start automatically on Windows 7 startup

I just placed a short-cut to the XAMPP control panel in my startup folder. That works just fine on Window 7. Start -> All Programs -> Startup. There is also an option to start XAMPP control panel minimized, that is very useful for getting a clean unobstructed view of your desktop at start-up.**

Java, Simplified check if int array contains int

A different way:

public boolean contains(final int[] array, final int key) {
     Arrays.sort(array);
     return Arrays.binarySearch(array, key) >= 0;
}

This modifies the passed-in array. You would have the option to copy the array and work on the original array i.e. int[] sorted = array.clone();
But this is just an example of short code. The runtime is O(NlogN) while your way is O(N)

How can I do time/hours arithmetic in Google Spreadsheet?

So much simpler: look at this

B2: 23:00
C2:  1:37
D2: = C2 - B2 + ( B2 > C2 )

Why it works, time is a fraction of a day, the comparison B2>C2 returns True (1) or False (0), if true 1 day (24 hours) is added. http://www.excelforum.com/excel-general/471757-calculating-time-difference-over-midnight.html

Angular-cli from css to scss

For users of the Nrwl extensions who come across this thread: all commands are intercepted by Nx (e.g., ng generate component myCompent) and then passed down to the AngularCLI.

A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server

Transport level errors are often linked to the connection to sql server being broken ... usually network.

Timeout Expired is usually thrown when a sql query takes too long to run.

So few options can be :

  1. Check for the connection in VPN (if used) or any other tool
  2. Restart IIS
  3. Restart machine
  4. Optimize sql queries.

How to return data from promise

I also don't like using a function to handle a property which has been resolved again and again in every controller and service. Seem I'm not alone :D

Don't tried to get result with a promise as a variable, of course no way. But I found and use a solution below to access to the result as a property.

Firstly, write result to a property of your service:

app.factory('your_factory',function(){
    var theParentIdResult = null;
    var factoryReturn = {
        theParentId: theParentIdResult,
        addSiteParentId : addSiteParentId
    };
    return factoryReturn;
    function addSiteParentId(nodeId) {
         var theParentId = 'a';
         var parentId = relationsManagerResource.GetParentId(nodeId)
             .then(function(response){
                 factoryReturn.theParentIdResult = response.data;
                 console.log(theParentId);  // #1
             });
    }
})

Now, we just need to ensure that method addSiteParentId always be resolved before we accessed to property theParentId. We can achieve this by using some ways.

  • Use resolve in router method:

    resolve: {
        parentId: function (your_factory) {
             your_factory.addSiteParentId();
        }
    }

then in controller and other services used in your router, just call your_factory.theParentId to get your property. Referce here for more information: http://odetocode.com/blogs/scott/archive/2014/05/20/using-resolve-in-angularjs-routes.aspx

  • Use run method of app to resolve your service.

    app.run(function (your_factory) { your_factory.addSiteParentId(); })

  • Inject it in the first controller or services of the controller. In the controller we can call all required init services. Then all remain controllers as children of main controller can be accessed to this property normally as you want.

Chose your ways depend on your context depend on scope of your variable and reading frequency of your variable.

How to disable XDebug

I created this bash script for toggling xdebug. I think it should work at least on Ubuntu / Debian. This is for PHP7+. For PHP5 use php5dismod / php5enmod.

#!/bin/bash

#
# Toggles xdebug
#

if [ ! -z $(php -m | grep "xdebug") ] ; then
    phpdismod xdebug
    echo "xdebug is now disabled"
else
    phpenmod xdebug
    echo "xdebug is now enabled"
fi

# exit success
exit 0

How to get all elements inside "div" that starts with a known text

Presuming every new branch in your tree is a div, I have implemented this solution with 2 functions:

function fillArray(vector1,vector2){
    for (var i = 0; i < vector1.length; i++){
        if (vector1[i].id.indexOf('q17_') == 0)
            vector2.push(vector1[i]);
        if(vector1[i].tagName == 'DIV')
            fillArray (document.getElementById(vector1[i].id).children,vector2);
    }
}

function selectAllElementsInsideDiv(divId){
    var matches = new Array();
    var searchEles = document.getElementById(divId).children;
    fillArray(searchEles,matches);
    return matches;
}

Now presuming your div's id is 'myDiv', all you have to do is create an array element and set its value to the function's return:

var ElementsInsideMyDiv = new Array();
ElementsInsideMyDiv =  selectAllElementsInsideDiv('myDiv')

I have tested it and it worked for me. I hope it helps you.

MySQL select one column DISTINCT, with corresponding other columns

To avoid potentially unexpected results when using GROUP BY without an aggregate function, as is used in the accepted answer, because MySQL is free to retrieve ANY value within the data set being grouped when not using an aggregate function [sic] and issues with ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY. Please consider using an exclusion join.

Exclusion Join - Unambiguous Entities

Assuming the firstname and lastname are uniquely indexed (unambiguous), an alternative to GROUP BY is to sort using a LEFT JOIN to filter the result set, otherwise known as an exclusion JOIN.

See Demonstration

Ascending order (A-Z)

To retrieve the distinct firstname ordered by lastname from A-Z

Query

SELECT t1.*
FROM table_name AS t1
LEFT JOIN table_name AS t2
ON t1.firstname = t2.firstname
AND t1.lastname > t2.lastname
WHERE t2.id IS NULL;

Result

| id | firstname | lastname |
|----|-----------|----------|
|  2 |      Bugs |    Bunny |
|  1 |      John |      Doe |

Descending order (Z-A)

To retrieve the distinct firstname ordered by lastname from Z-A

Query

SELECT t1.*
FROM table_name AS t1
LEFT JOIN table_name AS t2
ON t1.firstname = t2.firstname
AND t1.lastname < t2.lastname
WHERE t2.id IS NULL;

Result

| id | firstname | lastname |
|----|-----------|----------|
|  2 |      Bugs |    Bunny |
|  3 |      John |  Johnson |

You can then order the resulting data as desired.

Exclusion Join - Ambiguous Entities

If the first and last name combination are not unique (ambiguous) and you have multiple rows of the same values, you can filter the result set by including an OR condition on the JOIN criteria to also filter by id.

See Demonstration

table_name data

(1, 'John', 'Doe'),
(2, 'Bugs', 'Bunny'),
(3, 'John', 'Johnson'),
(4, 'John', 'Doe'),
(5, 'John', 'Johnson')

Query

SELECT t1.*
FROM table_name AS t1
LEFT JOIN table_name AS t2
ON t1.firstname = t2.firstname
AND (t1.lastname > t2.lastname
OR (t1.firstname = t1.firstname AND t1.lastname = t2.lastname AND t1.id > t2.id))
WHERE t2.id IS NULL;

Result

| id | firstname | lastname |
|----|-----------|----------|
|  1 |      John |      Doe |
|  2 |      Bugs |    Bunny |

Ordered Subquery

EDIT

My original answer using an ordered subquery, was written prior to MySQL 5.7.5, which is no longer applicable, due to the changes with ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY. Please use the exclusion join examples above instead.

It is also important to note; when ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY is disabled (original behavior prior to MySQL 5.7.5), the use of GROUP BY without an aggregate function may yield unexpected results, because MySQL is free to choose ANY value within the data set being grouped [sic].

Meaning an ID or lastname value may be retrieved that is not associated with the retrieved firstname row.

WARNING

With MySQL GROUP BY may not yield the expected results when used with ORDER BY

See Test Case Example

The best method of implementation, to ensure expected results, is to filter the result set scope using an ordered subquery.

table_name data

(1, 'John', 'Doe'),
(2, 'Bugs', 'Bunny'),
(3, 'John', 'Johnson')

Query

SELECT * FROM (
    SELECT * FROM table_name ORDER BY ID DESC
) AS t1
GROUP BY FirstName

Result

| ID | first |    last |
|----|-------|---------|
|  2 |  Bugs |   Bunny |
|  3 |  John | Johnson |

Comparison

To demonstrate the unexpected results when using GROUP BY in combination with ORDER BY

Query

SELECT * FROM table_name GROUP BY FirstName ORDER BY ID DESC

Result

| ID | first |  last |
|----|-------|-------|
|  2 |  Bugs | Bunny |
|  1 |  John |   Doe |

Callback to a Fragment from a DialogFragment

Updated:

I made a library based on my gist code that generates those casting for you by using @CallbackFragment and @Callback.

https://github.com/zeroarst/callbackfragment.

And the example give you the example that send a callback from a fragment to another fragment.

Old answer:

I made a BaseCallbackFragment and annotation @FragmentCallback. It currently extends Fragment, you can change it to DialogFragment and will work. It checks the implementations with the following order: getTargetFragment() > getParentFragment() > context (activity).

Then you just need to extend it and declare your interfaces in your fragment and give it the annotation, and the base fragment will do the rest. The annotation also has a parameter mandatory for you to determine whether you want to force the fragment to implement the callback.

public class EchoFragment extends BaseCallbackFragment {

    private FragmentInteractionListener mListener;

    @FragmentCallback
    public interface FragmentInteractionListener {
        void onEcho(EchoFragment fragment, String echo);
    }
}

Call apply-like function on each row of dataframe with multiple arguments from each row

Many functions are vectorization already, and so there is no need for any iterations (neither for loops or *pply functions). Your testFunc is one such example. You can simply call:

  testFunc(df[, "x"], df[, "z"])

In general, I would recommend trying such vectorization approaches first and see if they get you your intended results.

Alternatively, if you need to pass multiple arguments to a function which is not vectorized, mapply might be what you are looking for:

  mapply(power.t.test, df[, "x"], df[, "z"])

How to install Maven 3 on Ubuntu 18.04/17.04/16.10/16.04 LTS/15.10/15.04/14.10/14.04 LTS/13.10/13.04 by using apt-get?

It's best to use miske's answer.

Properly installing natecarlson's repository

If you really want to use natecarlson's repository, the instructions just below can do any of the following:

  1. set it up from scratch
  2. repair it if apt-get update gives a 404 error after add-apt-repository
  3. repair it if apt-get update gives a NO_PUBKEY error after manually adding it to /etc/apt/sources.list

Open a terminal and run the following:

sudo -i

Enter your password if necessary, then paste the following into the terminal:

export GOOD_RELEASE='precise'
export BAD_RELEASE="`lsb_release -cs`"
cd /etc/apt
sed -i '/natecarlson\/maven3/d' sources.list
cd sources.list.d
rm -f natecarlson-maven3-*.list*
apt-add-repository -y ppa:natecarlson/maven3
mv natecarlson-maven3-${BAD_RELEASE}.list natecarlson-maven3-${GOOD_RELEASE}.list
sed -i "s/${BAD_RELEASE}/${GOOD_RELEASE}/" natecarlson-maven3-${GOOD_RELEASE}.list
apt-get update
exit
echo Done!

Removing natecarlson's repository

If you installed natecarlson's repository (either using add-apt-repository or manually added to /etc/apt/sources.list) and you don't want it anymore, open a terminal and run the following:

sudo -i

Enter your password if necessary, then paste the following into the terminal:

cd /etc/apt
sed -i '/natecarlson\/maven3/d' sources.list
cd sources.list.d
rm -f natecarlson-maven3-*.list*
apt-get update
exit
echo Done!

Pandas group-by and sum

Use GroupBy.sum:

df.groupby(['Fruit','Name']).sum()

Out[31]:
               Number
Fruit   Name
Apples  Bob        16
        Mike        9
        Steve      10
Grapes  Bob        35
        Tom        87
        Tony       15
Oranges Bob        67
        Mike       57
        Tom        15
        Tony        1

addEventListener vs onclick

The difference you could see if you had another couple of functions:

var h = document.getElementById('a');
h.onclick = doThing_1;
h.onclick = doThing_2;

h.addEventListener('click', doThing_3);
h.addEventListener('click', doThing_4);

Functions 2, 3 and 4 work, but 1 does not. This is because addEventListener does not overwrite existing event handlers, whereas onclick overrides any existing onclick = fn event handlers.

The other significant difference, of course, is that onclick will always work, whereas addEventListener does not work in Internet Explorer before version 9. You can use the analogous attachEvent (which has slightly different syntax) in IE <9.

How to Auto-start an Android Application?

If by autostart you mean auto start on phone bootup then you should register a BroadcastReceiver for the BOOT_COMPLETED Intent. Android systems broadcasts that intent once boot is completed.

Once you receive that intent you can launch a Service that can do whatever you want to do.

Keep note though that having a Service running all the time on the phone is generally a bad idea as it eats up system resources even when it is idle. You should launch your Service / application only when needed and then stop it when not required.

                            byte[] decodedString = Base64.decode(picture, Base64.NO_WRAP);
                            InputStream input=new ByteArrayInputStream(decodedString);
                            Bitmap ext_pic = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(input);
                            carView.setImageBitmap(ext_pic);

How do I remove duplicates from a C# array?

Removing duplicate and ignore case sensitive using Distinct & StringComparer.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase

string[] array = new string[] { "A", "a", "b", "B", "a", "C", "c", "C", "A", "1" };
var r = array.Distinct(StringComparer.InvariantCultureIgnoreCase).ToList();
Console.WriteLine(r.Count); // return 4 items

Logical XOR operator in C++?

The XOR operator cannot be short circuited; i.e. you cannot predict the result of an XOR expression just by evaluating its left hand operand. Thus, there's no reason to provide a ^^ version.

Multiple axis line chart in excel

It is possible to get both the primary and secondary axes on one side of the chart by designating the secondary axis for one of the series.

To get the primary axis on the right side with the secondary axis, you need to set to "High" the Axis Labels option in the Format Axis dialog box for the primary axis.

To get the secondary axis on the left side with the primary axis, you need to set to "Low" the Axis Labels option in the Format Axis dialog box for the secondary axis.

I know of no way to get a third set of axis labels on a single chart. You could fake in axis labels & ticks with text boxes and lines, but it would be hard to get everything aligned correctly.

The more feasible route is that suggested by zx8754: Create a second chart, turning off titles, left axes, etc. and lay it over the first chart. See my very crude mockup which hasn't been fine-tuned yet.

How to convert between bytes and strings in Python 3?

This is a Python 101 type question,

It's a simple question but one where the answer is not so simple.

In python3, a "bytes" object represents a sequence of bytes, a "string" object represents a sequence of unicode code points.

To convert between from "bytes" to "string" and from "string" back to "bytes" you use the bytes.decode and string.encode functions. These functions take two parameters, an encoding and an error handling policy.

Sadly there are an awful lot of cases where sequences of bytes are used to represent text, but it is not necessarily well-defined what encoding is being used. Take for example filenames on unix-like systems, as far as the kernel is concerned they are a sequence of bytes with a handful of special values, on most modern distros most filenames will be UTF-8 but there is no gaurantee that all filenames will be.

If you want to write robust software then you need to think carefully about those parameters. You need to think carefully about what encoding the bytes are supposed to be in and how you will handle the case where they turn out not to be a valid sequence of bytes for the encoding you thought they should be in. Python defaults to UTF-8 and erroring out on any byte sequence that is not valid UTF-8.

print(bytesThing)

Python uses "repr" as a fallback conversion to string. repr attempts to produce python code that will recreate the object. In the case of a bytes object this means among other things escaping bytes outside the printable ascii range.

angular-cli server - how to specify default port

As far as Angular CLI: 7.1.4, there are two common ways to achieve changing the default port.

No. 1

In the angular.json, add the --port option to serve part and use ng serve to start the server.

"serve": {
  "builder": "@angular-devkit/build-angular:dev-server",
  "options": {
    "browserTarget": "demos:build",
    "port": 1337
  },
  "configurations": {
    "production": {
      "browserTarget": "demos:build:production"
    }
  }
},

No. 2

In the package.json, add the --port option to ng serve and use npm start to start the server.

  "scripts": {
    "ng": "ng",
    "start": "ng serve --port 8000",
    "build": "ng build",
    "test": "ng test",
    "lint": "ng lint",
    "e2e": "ng e2e"
  },

Add Items to Columns in a WPF ListView

Solution With Less XAML and More C#

If you define the ListView in XAML:

<ListView x:Name="listView"/>

Then you can add columns and populate it in C#:

public Window()
{
    // Initialize
    this.InitializeComponent();

    // Add columns
    var gridView = new GridView();
    this.listView.View = gridView;
    gridView.Columns.Add(new GridViewColumn {
        Header = "Id", DisplayMemberBinding = new Binding("Id") });
    gridView.Columns.Add(new GridViewColumn {
        Header = "Name", DisplayMemberBinding = new Binding("Name") });

    // Populate list
    this.listView.Items.Add(new MyItem { Id = 1, Name = "David" });
}

See definition of MyItem below.

Solution With More XAML and less C#

However, it's easier to define the columns in XAML (inside the ListView definition):

<ListView x:Name="listView">
    <ListView.View>
        <GridView>
            <GridViewColumn Header="Id" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Id}"/>
            <GridViewColumn Header="Name" DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Name}"/>
        </GridView>
    </ListView.View>
</ListView>

And then just populate the list in C#:

public Window()
{
    // Initialize
    this.InitializeComponent();

    // Populate list
    this.listView.Items.Add(new MyItem { Id = 1, Name = "David" });
}

See definition of MyItem below.

MyItem Definition

MyItem is defined like this:

public class MyItem
{
    public int Id { get; set; }

    public string Name { get; set; }
}

What is the maximum characters for the NVARCHAR(MAX)?

Convert HH:MM:SS string to seconds only in javascript

Taken from the solution given by Paul https://stackoverflow.com/a/45292588/1191101 but using the old function notation so it can also be used in other js engines (e.g. java Rhino)

function strToSeconds (stime)
{
   return +(stime.split(':').reduce(function (acc,time) { return +(60 * acc) + +time }));
}

or just this one more readable

function strToSeconds (stime)
{
  var tt = stime.split(':').reverse ();
  return ((tt.length >= 3) ? (+tt[2]): 0)*60*60 +
         ((tt.length >= 2) ? (+tt[1]): 0)*60 +
         ((tt.length >= 1) ? (+tt[0]): 0);
}

How do I extract data from a DataTable?

  var table = Tables[0]; //get first table from Dataset

     {
       foreach (var item in row.ItemArray)
         {
            console.Write("Value:"+item);
         }
     }

Combining border-top,border-right,border-left,border-bottom in CSS

Or if all borders have same style, just:

border:10px;

The source was not found, but some or all event logs could not be searched. Inaccessible logs: Security

try giving AppPool ID or Network Services whichever applicable access HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\security also. I was getting the same error .. this worked for me. See the error is also saying that the inaccessible logs are Security Logs.

I also gave permission in eventlog\application .

I gave full access everywhere.

Removing Duplicate Values from ArrayList

I don't think the list = new ArrayList<String>(new LinkedHashSet<String>(list)) is not the best way , since we are using the LinkedHashset(We could use directly LinkedHashset instead of ArrayList),

Solution:

import java.util.ArrayList;
public class Arrays extends ArrayList{

@Override
public boolean add(Object e) {
    if(!contains(e)){
        return super.add(e);
    }else{
        return false;
    }
}

public static void main(String[] args) {
    Arrays element=new Arrays();
    element.add(1);
    element.add(2);
    element.add(2);
    element.add(3);

    System.out.println(element);
}
}

Output: [1, 2, 3]

Here I am extending the ArrayList , as I am using the it with some changes by overriding the add method.

API vs. Webservice

Check this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_service

As the link mentioned then Web API is a development in Web services that most likely relates to Web 2.0, whereas SOAP based services are replaced by REST based communications. Note that REST services do not require XML, SOAP, or WSDL service-API definitions so this is major different to traditional web service.

JavaFX - create custom button with image

A combination of previous 2 answers did the trick. Thanks. A new class which inherits from Button. Note: updateImages() should be called before showing the button.

import javafx.event.EventHandler;
import javafx.scene.control.Button;
import javafx.scene.image.Image;
import javafx.scene.image.ImageView;
import javafx.scene.input.MouseEvent;

public class ImageButton extends Button {

    public void updateImages(final Image selected, final Image unselected) {
        final ImageView iv = new ImageView(selected);
        this.getChildren().add(iv);

        iv.setOnMousePressed(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>() {
            public void handle(MouseEvent evt) {
                iv.setImage(unselected);
            }
        });
        iv.setOnMouseReleased(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>() {
            public void handle(MouseEvent evt) {
                iv.setImage(selected);
            }
        });

        super.setGraphic(iv);
    }
}

How does createOrReplaceTempView work in Spark?

CreateOrReplaceTempView will create a temporary view of the table on memory it is not presistant at this moment but you can run sql query on top of that . if you want to save it you can either persist or use saveAsTable to save.

first we read data in csv format and then convert to data frame and create a temp view

Reading data in csv format

val data = spark.read.format("csv").option("header","true").option("inferSchema","true").load("FileStore/tables/pzufk5ib1500654887654/campaign.csv")

printing the schema

data.printSchema

SchemaOfTable

data.createOrReplaceTempView("Data")

Now we can run sql queries on top the table view we just created

  %sql select Week as Date,Campaign Type,Engagements,Country from Data order by Date asc

Enable 'xp_cmdshell' SQL Server

Even if this question has resolved, I want to add my advice about that.... since as developer I ignored.

Is important to know that we're talking about MSSQL xp_cmdshell enabled is critical to security, as indicated in the message warning:

Blockquote SQL Server blocked access to procedure 'sys.xp_cmdshell' of component 'xp_cmdshell' because this component is turned off as part of the security configuration for this server. [...]

Leaving the service enabled is a kind of weakness, that for example in a web-app could reflect and execute commands SQL from an attacker. The popular CWE-89: SQL Injection it could be weakness in the our software, and therefore these type of scenarios could pave the way to possible attacks, such as CAPEC-108: Command Line Execution through SQL Injection

I hope to have done something pleasant, we Developers and Engineer do things with awareness and we will be safer!

Using variables inside a bash heredoc

As a late corolloary to the earlier answers here, you probably end up in situations where you want some but not all variables to be interpolated. You can solve that by using backslashes to escape dollar signs and backticks; or you can put the static text in a variable.

Name='Rich Ba$tard'
dough='$$$dollars$$$'
cat <<____HERE
$Name, you can win a lot of $dough this week!
Notice that \`backticks' need escaping if you want
literal text, not `pwd`, just like in variables like
\$HOME (current value: $HOME)
____HERE

Demo: https://ideone.com/rMF2XA

Note that any of the quoting mechanisms -- \____HERE or "____HERE" or '____HERE' -- will disable all variable interpolation, and turn the here-document into a piece of literal text.

A common task is to combine local variables with script which should be evaluated by a different shell, programming language, or remote host.

local=$(uname)
ssh -t remote <<:
    echo "$local is the value from the host which ran the ssh command"
    # Prevent here doc from expanding locally; remote won't see backslash
    remote=\$(uname)
    # Same here
    echo "\$remote is the value from the host we ssh:ed to"

Oracle SQL update based on subquery between two tables

There are two ways to do what you are trying

One is a Multi-column Correlated Update

UPDATE PRODUCTION a
SET (name, count) = (
  SELECT name, count
  FROM STAGING b
  WHERE a.ID = b.ID);

DEMO

You can use merge

MERGE INTO PRODUCTION a
USING ( select id, name, count
          from STAGING ) b
ON ( a.id = b.id )
WHEN MATCHED THEN
UPDATE SET  a.name = b.name,
            a.count = b.count

How to create a foreign key in phpmyadmin

The key must be indexed to apply foreign key constraint. To do that follow the steps.

  1. Open table structure. (2nd tab)
  2. See the last column action where multiples action options are there. Click on Index, this will make the column indexed.
  3. Open relation view and add foreign key constraint.

You will be able to assign DOCTOR_ID as foreign now.

Android Studio rendering problems

it still happens in Android Studio 1.5.1. on Ubuntu and you can solve it simply changing a setting from Gradle:

1) on app/build.gradle dependencies change from:

compile 'com.android.support:design:23.2.0'

to:

compile 'com.android.support:design:23.1.0'

2) rebuild project

3) refresh view

Why does calling sumr on a stream with 50 tuples not complete

sumr is implemented in terms of foldRight:

 final def sumr(implicit A: Monoid[A]): A = F.foldRight(self, A.zero)(A.append)

foldRight is not always tail recursive, so you can overflow the stack if the collection is too long. See Why foldRight and reduceRight are NOT tail recursive? for some more discussion of when this is or isn't true.

MultiMarkdown v4.5

Tested on v4.5 (latest on macports) and the v5.4 (latest on homebrew). Not sure why it doesn't work on the live preview site you provide.

A simple test that I started with was:

How to run Java program in terminal with external library JAR

  1. you can set your classpath in the in the environment variabl CLASSPATH. in linux, you can add like CLASSPATH=.:/full/path/to/the/Jars, for example ..........src/external and just run in side ......src/Report/

Javac Reporter.java

Similarily, you can set it in windows environment variables. for example, in Win7

Right click Start-->Computer then Properties-->Advanced System Setting --> Advanced -->Environment Variables in the user variables, click classPath, and Edit and add the full path of jars at the end. voila

Assign pandas dataframe column dtypes

facing similar problem to you. In my case I have 1000's of files from cisco logs that I need to parse manually.

In order to be flexible with fields and types I have successfully tested using StringIO + read_cvs which indeed does accept a dict for the dtype specification.

I usually get each of the files ( 5k-20k lines) into a buffer and create the dtype dictionaries dynamically.

Eventually I concatenate ( with categorical... thanks to 0.19) these dataframes into a large data frame that I dump into hdf5.

Something along these lines

import pandas as pd
import io

output = io.StringIO()
output.write('A,1,20,31\n')
output.write('B,2,21,32\n')
output.write('C,3,22,33\n')
output.write('D,4,23,34\n')

output.seek(0)

df=pd.read_csv(output, header=None,
        names=["A","B","C","D"],
        dtype={"A":"category","B":"float32","C":"int32","D":"float64"},
        sep=","
       )

df.info()

<class 'pandas.core.frame.DataFrame'>
RangeIndex: 5 entries, 0 to 4
Data columns (total 4 columns):
A    5 non-null category
B    5 non-null float32
C    5 non-null int32
D    5 non-null float64

Not very pythonic.... but does the job

Hope it helps.

document.createElement("script") synchronously

You can create your <script> element with an "onload" handler, and that will be called when the script has been loaded and evaluated by the browser.

var script = document.createElement('script');
script.onload = function() {
  alert("Script loaded and ready");
};
script.src = "http://whatever.com/the/script.js";
document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(script);

You can't do it synchronously.

edit — it's been pointed out that, true to form, IE doesn't fire a "load" event on <script> tags being loaded/evaluated. Thus I suppose the next thing to do would be to fetch the script with an XMLHttpRequest and then eval() it yourself. (Or, I suppose, stuff the text into a <script> tag you add; the execution environment of eval() is affected by the local scope, so it won't necessarily do what you want it to do.)

editAs of early 2013, I'd strongly advise looking into a more robust script loading tool like Requirejs. There are a lot of special cases to worry about. For really simple situations, there's yepnope, which is now built into Modernizr.

The value violated the integrity constraints for the column

Teradata table or view stores NULL as "?" and SQL considers it as a character or string. This is the main reason for the error "The value violated the integrity constraints for the column." when data is ported from Teradata source to SQL destination. Solution 1: Allow the destination table to hold NULL Solution 2: Convert the '?' character to be stored as some value in the destination table.

Assign variable in if condition statement, good practice or not?

I see no proof that it is not good practice. Yes, it may look like a mistake but that is easily remedied by judicious commenting. Take for instance:

if (x = processorIntensiveFunction()) { // declaration inside if intended
    alert(x);
}

Why should that function be allowed to run a 2nd time with:

alert(processorIntensiveFunction());

Because the first version LOOKS bad? I cannot agree with that logic.

Why does the program give "illegal start of type" error?

You have an extra '{' before return type. You may also want to put '==' instead of '=' in if and else condition.

ipynb import another ipynb file

Run

!pip install ipynb

and then import the other notebook as

from ipynb.fs.full.<notebook_name> import *

or

from ipynb.fs.full.<notebook_name> import <function_name>

Make sure that all the notebooks are in the same directory.

Edit 1: You can see the official documentation here - https://ipynb.readthedocs.io/en/stable/

Also, if you would like to import only class & function definitions from a notebook (and not the top level statements), you can use ipynb.fs.defs instead of ipynb.fs.full. Full uppercase variable assignment will get evaluated as well.

Class 'ViewController' has no initializers in swift

This issue usually appears when one of your variables has no value or when you forget to add "!" to force this variable to store nil until it is set.

In your case the problem is here:

var delegate: AppDelegate

It should be defined as var delegate: AppDelegate! to make it an optional that stores nil and do not unwrap the variable until the value is used.

It is sad that Xcode highlights the whole class as an error instead of highlighting the particular line of code that caused it, so it takes a while to figure it out.

Copy an entire worksheet to a new worksheet in Excel 2010

If anyone has, like I do, an Estimating workbook with a default number of visible pricing sheets, a Summary and a larger number of hidden and 'protected' worksheets full of sensitive data but may need to create additional visible worksheets to arrive at a proper price, I have variant of the above responses that creates the said visible worksheets based on a protected hidden "Master". I have used the code provided by @/jean-fran%c3%a7ois-corbett and @thanos-a in combination with simple VBA as shown below.

Sub sbInsertWorksheetAfter()

    'This adds a new visible worksheet after the last visible worksheet

    ThisWorkbook.Sheets.Add After:=Worksheets(Worksheets.Count)

    'This copies the content of the HIDDEN "Master" worksheet to the new VISIBLE ActiveSheet just created

    ThisWorkbook.Sheets("Master").Cells.Copy _
        Destination:=ActiveSheet.Cells

    'This gives the the new ActiveSheet a default name

    With ActiveSheet
        .Name = Sheet12.Name & " copied"
    End With

    'This changes the name of the ActiveSheet to the user's preference

    Dim sheetname As String

    With ActiveSheet
        sheetname = InputBox("Enter name of this Worksheet")
        .Name = sheetname
    End With

End Sub

Python Pandas : pivot table with aggfunc = count unique distinct

You can construct a pivot table for each distinct value of X. In this case,

for xval, xgroup in g:
    ptable = pd.pivot_table(xgroup, rows='Y', cols='Z',
        margins=False, aggfunc=numpy.size)

will construct a pivot table for each value of X. You may want to index ptable using the xvalue. With this code, I get (for X1)

     X
Z   Z1  Z2  Z3
Y
Y1   2   1 NaN
Y2 NaN NaN   1

How to extract Month from date in R

Her is another R base approach:

From your example: Some date:

Some_date<-"01/01/1979"

We tell R, "That is a Date"

Some_date<-as.Date(Some_date)

We extract the month:

months(Some_date)

output: [1] "January"

Finally, we can convert it to a numerical variable:

as.numeric(as.factor(months(Some_date)))

outpt: [1] 1

How do you access the value of an SQL count () query in a Java program

It's similar to above but you can try like

public Integer count(String tableName) throws CrateException {
        String query = String.format("Select count(*) as size from %s", tableName);
        try (Statement s = connection.createStatement()) {
            try (ResultSet resultSet = queryExecutor.executeQuery(s, query)) {
                Preconditions.checkArgument(resultSet.next(), "Result set is empty");
                return resultSet.getInt("size");
            }
        } catch (SQLException e) {
            throw new CrateException(e);
        }
    }
}

Convert month name to month number in SQL Server

I recently had a similar experience (sql server 2012). I did not have the luxury of controlling the input, I just had a requirement to report on it. Luckily the dates were entered with leading 3 character alpha month abbreviations, so this made it simple & quick:

TRY_CONVERT(DATETIME,REPLACE(obs.DateValueText,SUBSTRING(obs.DateValueText,1,3),CHARINDEX(SUBSTRING(obs.DateValueText,1,3),'...JAN,FEB,MAR,APR,MAY,JUN,JUL,AUG,SEP,OCT,NOV,DEC')/4))

It worked for 12 hour:
Feb-14-2015 5:00:00 PM 2015-02-14 17:00:00.000
and 24 hour times:
Sep-27-2013 22:45 2013-09-27 22:45:00.000

How to declare variable and use it in the same Oracle SQL script?

Just want to add Matas' answer. Maybe it's obvious, but I've searched for a long time to figure out that the variable is accessible only inside the BEGIN-END construction, so if you need to use it in some code later, you need to put this code inside the BEGIN-END block.

Note that these blocks can be nested:

DECLARE x NUMBER;
BEGIN
    SELECT PK INTO x FROM table1 WHERE col1 = 'test';

    DECLARE y NUMBER;
    BEGIN
        SELECT PK INTO y FROM table2 WHERE col2 = x;

        INSERT INTO table2 (col1, col2)
        SELECT y,'text'
        FROM dual
        WHERE exists(SELECT * FROM table2);

        COMMIT;
    END;
END;

How to make Apache serve index.php instead of index.html?

As others have noted, most likely you don't have .html set up to handle php code.

Having said that, if all you're doing is using index.html to include index.php, your question should probably be 'how do I use index.php as index document?

In which case, for Apache (httpd.conf), search for DirectoryIndex and replace the line with this (will only work if you have dir_module enabled, but that's default on most installs):

DirectoryIndex index.php

If you use other directory indexes, list them in order of preference i.e.

DirectoryIndex index.php index.phtml index.html index.htm

Declaring and initializing a string array in VB.NET

I believe you need to specify "Option Infer On" for this to work.

Option Infer allows the compiler to make a guess at what is being represented by your code, thus it will guess that {"stuff"} is an array of strings. With "Option Infer Off", {"stuff"} won't have any type assigned to it, ever, and so it will always fail, without a type specifier.

Option Infer is, I think On by default in new projects, but Off by default when you migrate from earlier frameworks up to 3.5.

Opinion incoming:

Also, you mention that you've got "Option Explicit Off". Please don't do this.

Setting "Option Explicit Off" means that you don't ever have to declare variables. This means that the following code will silently and invisibly create the variable "Y":

Dim X as Integer
Y = 3

This is horrible, mad, and wrong. It creates variables when you make typos. I keep hoping that they'll remove it from the language.

Installing a local module using npm?

Neither of these approaches (npm link or package.json file dependency) work if the local module has peer dependencies that you only want to install in your project's scope.

For example:

/local/mymodule/package.json:
  "name": "mymodule",
  "peerDependencies":
  {
    "foo": "^2.5"
  }

/dev/myproject/package.json:
  "dependencies":
  {
    "mymodule": "file:/local/mymodule",
    "foo": "^2.5"
  }

In this scenario, npm sets up myproject's node_modules/ like this:

/dev/myproject/node_modules/
  foo/
  mymodule -> /local/mymodule

When node loads mymodule and it does require('foo'), node resolves the mymodule symlink, and then only looks in /local/mymodule/node_modules/ (and its ancestors) for foo, which it doen't find. Instead, we want node to look in /local/myproject/node_modules/, since that's where were running our project from, and where foo is installed.

So, we either need a way to tell node to not resolve this symlink when looking for foo, or we need a way to tell npm to install a copy of mymodule when the file dependency syntax is used in package.json. I haven't found a way to do either, unfortunately :(

Upgrade version of Pandas

Add your C:\WinPython-64bit-3.4.4.1\python_***\Scripts folder to your system PATH variable by doing the following:

  1. Select Start, select Control Panel. double click System, and select the Advanced tab.
  2. Click Environment Variables. ...

  3. In the Edit System Variable (or New System Variable) window, specify the value of the PATH environment variable. ...

  4. Reopen Command prompt window

Remove trailing spaces automatically or with a shortcut

<Ctr>-<Shift>-<F>

Format, does it as well.

This removes trailing whitespace and formats/indents your code.

How to enable CORS in apache tomcat

CORS support in Tomcat is provided via a filter. You need to add this filter to your web.xml file and configure it to match your requirements. Full details on the configuration options available can be found in the Tomcat Documentation.

Pythonic way to create a long multi-line string

Generally, I use list and join for multi-line comments/string.

lines = list()
lines.append('SELECT action.enter code here descr as "action", ')
lines.append('role.id as role_id,')
lines.append('role.descr as role')
lines.append('FROM ')
lines.append('public.role_action_def,')
lines.append('public.role,')
lines.append('public.record_def, ')
lines.append('public.action')
query = " ".join(lines)

You can use any string to join all these list elements, like '\n'(newline) or ','(comma) or ' '(space).

What is /var/www/html?

In the most shared hosts you can't set it.

On a VPS or dedicated server, you can set it, but everything has its price.

On shared hosts, in general you receive a Linux account, something such as /home/(your username)/, and the equivalent of /var/www/html turns to /home/(your username)/public_html/ (or something similar, such as /home/(your username)/www)

If you're accessing your account via FTP, you automatically has accessing the your */home/(your username)/ folder, just find the www or public_html and put your site in it.

If you're using absolute path in the code, bad news, you need to refactor it to use relative paths in the code, at least in a shared host.

Using ng-click vs bind within link function of Angular Directive

You may use a controller in directive:

angular.module('app', [])
  .directive('appClick', function(){
     return {
       restrict: 'A',
       scope: true,
       template: '<button ng-click="click()">Click me</button> Clicked {{clicked}} times',
       controller: function($scope, $element){
         $scope.clicked = 0;
         $scope.click = function(){
           $scope.clicked++
         }
       }
     }
   });

Demo on plunkr

More about directives in Angular guide. And very helpfull for me was videos from official Angular blog post About those directives.

Install sbt on ubuntu

My guess is that the directory ~/bin/sbt/bin is not in your PATH.

To execute programs or scripts that are in the current directory you need to prefix the command with ./, as in:

./sbt

This is a security feature in linux, so to prevent overriding of system commands (and other programs) by a malicious party dropping a file in your home directory (for example). Imagine a script called 'ls' that emails your /etc/passwd file to 3rd party before executing the ls command... Or one that executes 'rm -rf .'...

That said, unless you need something specific from the latest source code, you're best off doing what paradigmatic said in his post, and install it from the Typesafe repository.

How to add an element at the end of an array?

Arrays in Java have a fixed length that cannot be changed. So Java provides classes that allow you to maintain lists of variable length.

Generally, there is the List<T> interface, which represents a list of instances of the class T. The easiest and most widely used implementation is the ArrayList. Here is an example:

List<String> words = new ArrayList<String>();
words.add("Hello");
words.add("World");
words.add("!");

List.add() simply appends an element to the list and you can get the size of a list using List.size().

What is the purpose of a question mark after a type (for example: int? myVariable)?

It means that the value type in question is a nullable type

Nullable types are instances of the System.Nullable struct. A nullable type can represent the correct range of values for its underlying value type, plus an additional null value. For example, a Nullable<Int32>, pronounced "Nullable of Int32," can be assigned any value from -2147483648 to 2147483647, or it can be assigned the null value. A Nullable<bool> can be assigned the values true, false, or null. The ability to assign null to numeric and Boolean types is especially useful when you are dealing with databases and other data types that contain elements that may not be assigned a value. For example, a Boolean field in a database can store the values true or false, or it may be undefined.

class NullableExample
{
  static void Main()
  {
      int? num = null;

      // Is the HasValue property true?
      if (num.HasValue)
      {
          System.Console.WriteLine("num = " + num.Value);
      }
      else
      {
          System.Console.WriteLine("num = Null");
      }

      // y is set to zero
      int y = num.GetValueOrDefault();

      // num.Value throws an InvalidOperationException if num.HasValue is false
      try
      {
          y = num.Value;
      }
      catch (System.InvalidOperationException e)
      {
          System.Console.WriteLine(e.Message);
      }
  }
}

What does appending "?v=1" to CSS and JavaScript URLs in link and script tags do?

In order to answer you questions;

"?v=1" this is written only beacuse to download a fresh copy of the css and js files instead of using from the cache of the browser.

If you mention this query string parameter at the end of your stylesheet or the js file then it forces the browser to download a new file, Due to which the recent changes in the .css and .js files are made effetive in your browser.

If you dont use this versioning then you may need to clear the cache of refresh the page in order to view the recent changes in those files.

Here is an article that explains this thing How and Why to make versioning of CSS and JS files

Is there a way to 'pretty' print MongoDB shell output to a file?

The shell provides some nice but hidden features because it's an interactive environment.

When you run commands from a javascript file via mongo commands.js you won't get quite identical behavior.

There are two ways around this.

(1) fake out the shell and make it think you are in interactive mode

$ mongo dbname << EOF > output.json
db.collection.find().pretty()
EOF

or
(2) use Javascript to translate the result of a find() into a printable JSON

mongo dbname command.js > output.json

where command.js contains this (or its equivalent):

printjson( db.collection.find().toArray() )

This will pretty print the array of results, including [ ] - if you don't want that you can iterate over the array and printjson() each element.

By the way if you are running just a single Javascript statement you don't have to put it in a file and instead you can use:

$ mongo --quiet dbname --eval 'printjson(db.collection.find().toArray())' > output.json

Query grants for a table in postgres

If you really want one line per user, you can group by grantee (require PG9+ for string_agg)

SELECT grantee, string_agg(privilege_type, ', ') AS privileges
FROM information_schema.role_table_grants
WHERE table_name='mytable'
GROUP BY grantee;

This should output something like :

 grantee |   privileges
---------+----------------
 user1   | INSERT, SELECT
 user2   | UPDATE
(2 rows)

splitting a string based on tab in the file

Split on tab, but then remove all blank matches.

text = "hi\tthere\t\t\tmy main man"
print [splits for splits in text.split("\t") if splits is not ""]

Outputs:

['hi', 'there', 'my main man']

Transpose a range in VBA

This gets you X and X' as variant arrays you can pass to another function.

Dim X() As Variant
Dim XT() As Variant
X = ActiveSheet.Range("InRng").Value2
XT = Application.Transpose(X)

To have the transposed values as a range, you have to pass it via a worksheet as in this answer. Without seeing how your covariance function works it's hard to see what you need.

CMD command to check connected USB devices

You could use wmic command:

wmic logicaldisk where drivetype=2 get <DeviceID, VolumeName, Description, ...>

Drivetype 2 indicates that its a removable disk.

Is it valid to have a html form inside another html form?

If you need your form to submit/commit data to a 1:M relational database, I would recommend creating an "after insert" DB trigger on table A that will insert the necessary data for table B.

Inserting a string into a list without getting split into characters

Another option is using the overloaded + operator:

>>> l = ['hello','world']
>>> l = ['foo'] + l
>>> l
['foo', 'hello', 'world']

How can I execute a PHP function in a form action?

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to achieve as we don't have what username() is supposed to return but you might want to try something like that. I would also recommend you don't echo whole page and rather use something like that, it's much easier to read and maintain:

<?php
require_once ( 'username.php' );
if (isset($_POST)) {
  $textfield = $_POST['textfield']; // this will get you what was in the
                                    // textfield if the form was submitted
}
?>

<form name="form1" method="post" action="<?php echo($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']) ?">
  <p>Your username is: <?php echo(username()) ?></p>
  <p>
    <label>
      <input type="text" name="textfield" id="textfield">
    </label>
  </p>
  <p>
    <label>
      <input type="submit" name="button" id="button" value="Submit">
    </label>
  </p>
</form>

This will post the results in the same page. So first time you display the page, only the empty form is shown, if you press on submit, the textfield field will be in the $textfield variable and you can display it again as you want.

I don't know if the username() function was supposed to return you the URL of where you should send the results but that's what you'd want in the action attribute of your form. I've put the result down in a sample paragraph so you see how you can display the result. See the "Your username is..." part.

// Edit:

If you want to send the value without leaving the page, you want to use AJAX. Do a search on jQuery on StackOverflow or on Google.

You would probably want to have your function return the username instead of echo it though. But if you absolutely want to echo it from the function, just call it like that <?php username() ?> in your HTML form.

I think you will need to understand the flow of the client-server process of your pages before going further. Let's say that the sample code above is called form.php.

  1. Your form.php is called.
  2. The form.php generates the HTML and is sent to the client's browser.
  3. The client only sees the resulting HTML form.
  4. When the user presses the button, you have two choices: a) let the browser do its usual thing so send the values in the form fields to the page specified in action (in this case, the URL is defined by PHP_SELF which is the current page.php). Or b) use javascript to push this data to a page without refreshing the page, this is commonly called AJAX.
  5. A page, in your case, it could be changed to username.php, will then verify against the database if the username exists and then you want to regenerate HTML that contains the values you need, back to step 1.

Leave menu bar fixed on top when scrolled

This is jquery code which is used to fixed the div when it touch a top of browser hope it will help a lot.

    };

    var $el = $('#sidebar>div');
    var $window = $(window);
    var top = $el.parent().position().top;

    $window.bind("scroll resize", function() {
        var gap = $window.height() - $el.height() - 10;
        var visibleFoot = 172 - $window.scrollBottom();

                bottom: "auto"
            });
        } else if (visibleFoot > gap) {

How to define Singleton in TypeScript

namespace MySingleton {
  interface IMySingleton {
      doSomething(): void;
  }
  class MySingleton implements IMySingleton {
      private usePrivate() { }
      doSomething() {
          this.usePrivate();
      }
  }
  export var Instance: IMySingleton = new MySingleton();
}

This way we can apply an interface, unlike in Ryan Cavanaugh's accepted answer.

With CSS, use "..." for overflowed block of multi-lines

Here is the closest solution I could get using just css.

Read whole ASCII file into C++ std::string

I could do it like this:

void readfile(const std::string &filepath,std::string &buffer){
    std::ifstream fin(filepath.c_str());
    getline(fin, buffer, char(-1));
    fin.close();
}

If this is something to be frowned upon, please let me know why

How to extract the substring between two markers?

Typescript. Gets string in between two other strings.

Searches shortest string between prefixes and postfixes

prefixes - string / array of strings / null (means search from the start).

postfixes - string / array of strings / null (means search until the end).

Auto-center map with multiple markers in Google Maps API v3

This work for me in Angular 9:

  import {GoogleMap, GoogleMapsModule} from "@angular/google-maps";
  @ViewChild('Map') Map: GoogleMap; /* Element Map */

  locations = [
   { lat: 7.423568, lng: 80.462287 },
   { lat: 7.532321, lng: 81.021187 },
   { lat: 6.117010, lng: 80.126269 }
  ];

  constructor() {
   var bounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds();
    setTimeout(() => {
     for (let u in this.locations) {
      var marker = new google.maps.Marker({
       position: new google.maps.LatLng(this.locations[u].lat,
       this.locations[u].lng),
      });
      bounds.extend(marker.getPosition());
     }

     this.Map.fitBounds(bounds)
    }, 200)
  }

And it automatically centers the map according to the indicated positions.

Cannot install packages inside docker Ubuntu image

Make sure you don't have any syntax errors in your Dockerfile as this can cause this error as well. A correct example is:

RUN apt-get update \
    && apt-get -y install curl \
    another-package

It was a combination of fixing a syntax error and adding apt-get update that solved the problem for me.

SQL: How do I SELECT only the rows with a unique value on certain column?

Modified!

Google Maps V3 - How to calculate the zoom level for a given bounds

Valerio is almost right with his solution, but there is some logical mistake.

you must firstly check wether angle2 is bigger than angle, before adding 360 at a negative.

otherwise you always have a bigger value than angle

So the correct solution is:

var west = calculateMin(data.longitudes);
var east = calculateMax(data.longitudes);
var angle = east - west;
var north = calculateMax(data.latitudes);
var south = calculateMin(data.latitudes);
var angle2 = north - south;
var zoomfactor;
var delta = 0;
var horizontal = false;

if(angle2 > angle) {
    angle = angle2;
    delta = 3;
}

if (angle < 0) {
    angle += 360;
}

zoomfactor = Math.floor(Math.log(960 * 360 / angle / GLOBE_WIDTH) / Math.LN2) - 2 - delta;

Delta is there, because i have a bigger width than height.

Why do I need to override the equals and hashCode methods in Java?

There's no mention in this answer of testing the equals/hashcode contract.

I've found the EqualsVerifier library to be very useful and comprehensive. It is also very easy to use.

Also, building equals() and hashCode() methods from scratch involves a lot of boilerplate code. The Apache Commons Lang library provides the EqualsBuilder and HashCodeBuilder classes. These classes greatly simplify implementing equals() and hashCode() methods for complex classes.

As an aside, it's worth considering overriding the toString() method to aid debugging. Apache Commons Lang library provides the ToStringBuilder class to help with this.

What is the difference between UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1?

UTF-8 is a multibyte encoding that can represent any Unicode character. ISO 8859-1 is a single-byte encoding that can represent the first 256 Unicode characters. Both encode ASCII exactly the same way.

how to convert a string to a bool

Handling click events on a drawable within an EditText

For anyone who does not want to implement the monstrous click handling. You can achieve the same with a RelativeLayout. With that you even have free handling of the positioning of the drawable.

  <RelativeLayout
     android:layout_width="match_parent"
     android:layout_height="wrap_content">

   <android.support.design.widget.TextInputLayout
      android:layout_width="match_parent"
      android:layout_height="wrap_content">

     <android.support.design.widget.TextInputEditText
       android:layout_width="match_parent"
       android:layout_height="wrap_content"
      />
     </android.support.design.widget.TextInputLayout>
     <ImageView
       android:layout_width="wrap_content"
       android:layout_height="wrap_content"
       android:layout_alignParentEnd="true"
       android:layout_centerInParent="true"
       android:src="@drawable/ic_undo"/>
    </RelativeLayout>

The ImageView position will be the same as you would use drawableEnd - plus you don't need all the touch listener handling. Just a click listener for the ImageView and you are good to go.

Convert Enum to String

In my tests, Enum.GetName was faster and by decent margin. Internally ToString calls Enum.GetName. From source for .NET 4.0, the essentials:

public override String ToString()
{
     return Enum.InternalFormat((RuntimeType)GetType(), GetValue());
}

private static String InternalFormat(RuntimeType eT, Object value)
{
    if (!eT.IsDefined(typeof(System.FlagsAttribute), false))
    {
        String retval = GetName(eT, value); //<== the one
        if (retval == null)
            return value.ToString();
        else
            return retval;
    }
    else
    {
        return InternalFlagsFormat(eT, value);
    }
}

I cant say that is the reason for sure, but tests state one is faster than the other. Both the calls involve boxing (in fact they are reflection calls, you're essentially retrieving field names) and can be slow for your liking.

Test setup: enum with 8 values, no. of iterations = 1000000

Result: Enum.GetName => 700 ms, ToString => 2000 ms

If speed isn't noticeable, I wouldn't care and use ToString since it offers a much cleaner call. Contrast

Enum.GetName(typeof(Bla), value)

with

value.ToString()

Recommended way of making React component/div draggable

react-draggable is also easy to use. Github:

https://github.com/mzabriskie/react-draggable

import React, {Component} from 'react';
import ReactDOM from 'react-dom';
import Draggable from 'react-draggable';

var App = React.createClass({
    render() {
        return (
            <div>
                <h1>Testing Draggable Windows!</h1>
                <Draggable handle="strong">
                    <div className="box no-cursor">
                        <strong className="cursor">Drag Here</strong>
                        <div>You must click my handle to drag me</div>
                    </div>
                </Draggable>
            </div>
        );
    }
});

ReactDOM.render(
    <App />, document.getElementById('content')
);

And my index.html:

<html>
    <head>
        <title>Testing Draggable Windows</title>
        <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css" />
    </head>
    <body>
        <div id="content"></div>
        <script type="text/javascript" src="bundle.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
    <script src="http://localhost:8080/webpack-dev-server.js"></script>
    </body>
</html>

You need their styles, which is short, or you don't get quite the expected behavior. I like the behavior more than some of the other possible choices, but there's also something called react-resizable-and-movable. I'm trying to get resize working with draggable, but no joy so far.

What is the best way to programmatically detect porn images?

Two options I can think of (though neither of them is programatically detecting porn):

  1. Block all uploaded images until one of your administrators has looked at them. There's no reason why this should take a long time: you could write some software that shows 10 images a second, almost as a movie - even at this speed, it's easy for a human being to spot a potentially pornographic image. Then you rewind in this software and have a closer look.
  2. Add the usual "flag this image as inappropriate" option.

Can we create an instance of an interface in Java?

Yes, your example is correct. Anonymous classes can implement interfaces, and that's the only time I can think of that you'll see a class implementing an interface without the "implements" keyword. Check out another code sample right here:

interface ProgrammerInterview {
    public void read();
}

class Website {
    ProgrammerInterview p = new ProgrammerInterview() {
        public void read() {
            System.out.println("interface ProgrammerInterview class implementer");
        }
    };
}

This works fine. Was taken from this page:

http://www.programmerinterview.com/index.php/java-questions/anonymous-class-interface/

How to set MimeBodyPart ContentType to "text/html"?

For me, I set two times:

Passing 'this' to an onclick event

You can always call funciton differently: foo.call(this); in this way you will be able to use this context inside the function.

Example:

<button onclick="foo.call(this)" id="bar">Button</button>?

var foo = function()
{
    this.innerHTML = "Not a button";
};

Created Button Click Event c#

if your button is inside your form class:

MessageBox.Show("test");

mysql query result into php array

What about this:

while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result))
{
    $new_array[$row['id']]['id'] = $row['id'];
    $new_array[$row['id']]['link'] = $row['link'];
}

To retrieve link and id:

foreach($new_array as $array)
{
   echo $array['id'].'<br />';
   echo $array['link'].'<br />';
}

Excel VBA - How to Redim a 2D array?

I stumbled across this question while hitting this road block myself. I ended up writing a piece of code real quick to handle this ReDim Preserve on a new sized array (first or last dimension). Maybe it will help others who face the same issue.

So for the usage, lets say you have your array originally set as MyArray(3,5), and you want to make the dimensions (first too!) larger, lets just say to MyArray(10,20). You would be used to doing something like this right?

 ReDim Preserve MyArray(10,20) '<-- Returns Error

But unfortunately that returns an error because you tried to change the size of the first dimension. So with my function, you would just do something like this instead:

 MyArray = ReDimPreserve(MyArray,10,20)

Now the array is larger, and the data is preserved. Your ReDim Preserve for a Multi-Dimension array is complete. :)

And last but not least, the miraculous function: ReDimPreserve()

'redim preserve both dimensions for a multidimension array *ONLY
Public Function ReDimPreserve(aArrayToPreserve,nNewFirstUBound,nNewLastUBound)
    ReDimPreserve = False
    'check if its in array first
    If IsArray(aArrayToPreserve) Then
        'create new array
        ReDim aPreservedArray(nNewFirstUBound,nNewLastUBound)
        'get old lBound/uBound
        nOldFirstUBound = uBound(aArrayToPreserve,1)
        nOldLastUBound = uBound(aArrayToPreserve,2)
        'loop through first
        For nFirst = lBound(aArrayToPreserve,1) to nNewFirstUBound
            For nLast = lBound(aArrayToPreserve,2) to nNewLastUBound
                'if its in range, then append to new array the same way
                If nOldFirstUBound >= nFirst And nOldLastUBound >= nLast Then
                    aPreservedArray(nFirst,nLast) = aArrayToPreserve(nFirst,nLast)
                End If
            Next
        Next
        'return the array redimmed
        If IsArray(aPreservedArray) Then ReDimPreserve = aPreservedArray
    End If
End Function

I wrote this in like 20 minutes, so there's no guarantees. But if you would like to use or extend it, feel free. I would've thought that someone would've had some code like this up here already, well apparently not. So here ya go fellow gearheads.

How to write string literals in python without having to escape them?

There is no such thing. It looks like you want something like "here documents" in Perl and the shells, but Python doesn't have that.

Using raw strings or multiline strings only means that there are fewer things to worry about. If you use a raw string then you still have to work around a terminal "\" and with any string solution you'll have to worry about the closing ", ', ''' or """ if it is included in your data.

That is, there's no way to have the string

 '   ''' """  " \

properly stored in any Python string literal without internal escaping of some sort.

Java, looping through result set

The problem with your code is :

     String  show[]= {rs4.getString(1)};
     String actuate[]={rs4.getString(2)};

This will create a new array every time your loop (an not append as you might be assuming) and hence in the end you will have only one element per array.

Here is one more way to solve this :

    StringBuilder sids = new StringBuilder ();
    StringBuilder lids = new StringBuilder ();

    while (rs4.next()) {
        sids.append(rs4.getString(1)).append(" ");
        lids.append(rs4.getString(2)).append(" ");
    }

    String show[] = sids.toString().split(" ");
    String actuate[] = lids.toString().split(" ");

These arrays will have all the required element.

How to find all serial devices (ttyS, ttyUSB, ..) on Linux without opening them?

I do not have a USB serial device, but there must be a way to find the real ports using the HAL libraries directly:

====================================================================
#! /usr/bin/env bash
#
# Uses HAL to find existing serial hardware
#

for sport in $(hal-find-by-capability --capability serial) ; do
  hal-get-property --udi "${sport}" --key serial.device
done

====================================================================

The posted python-dbus code nor this sh script lists the bluetooth /dev/rfcomm* devices, so it is not the best solution.

Note that on other unix platforms, the serial ports are not named ttyS? and even in linux, some serial cards allow you to name the devices. Assuming a pattern in the serial devices names is wrong.

Windows command prompt log to a file

First method

For Windows 7 and above users, Windows PowerShell give you this option. Users with windows version less than 7 can download PowerShell online and install it.

Steps:

  1. type PowerShell in search area and click on "Windows PowerShell"

  2. If you have a .bat (batch) file go to step 3 OR copy your commands to a file and save it with .bat extension (e.g. file.bat)

  3. run the .bat file with following command

    PS (location)> <path to bat file>/file.bat | Tee-Object -file log.txt

This will generate a log.txt file with all command prompt output in it. Advantage is that you can also the output on command prompt.

Second method

You can use file redirection (>, >>) as suggest by Bali C above.

I will recommend first method if you have lots of commands to run or a script to run. I will recommend last method if there is only few commands to run.

How to disable Django's CSRF validation?

For Django 2:

from django.utils.deprecation import MiddlewareMixin

class DisableCSRF(MiddlewareMixin):
    def process_request(self, request):
        setattr(request, '_dont_enforce_csrf_checks', True)

That middleware must be added to settings.MIDDLEWARE when appropriate (in your test settings for example).

Note: the setting isn't not called MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES anymore.

Set View Width Programmatically

This code let you fill the banner to the maximum width and keep the ratio. This will only work in portrait. You must recreate the ad when you rotate the device. In landscape you should just leave the ad as is because it will be quite big an blurred.

Display display = getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay();
int width = display.getWidth();
double ratio = ((float) (width))/300.0;
int height = (int)(ratio*50);

AdView adView = new AdView(this,"ad_url","my_ad_key",true,true);
LinearLayout layout = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.testing);
mAdView.setLayoutParams(new FrameLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT,height));
adView.setAdListener(this);
layout.addView(adView);

T-SQL STOP or ABORT command in SQL Server

Here is a somewhat kludgy way to do it that works with GO-batches, by using a "global" variable.

if object_id('tempdb..#vars') is not null
begin
  drop table #vars
end

create table #vars (continueScript bit)
set nocount on
  insert #vars values (1)
set nocount off

-- Start of first batch
if ((select continueScript from #vars)=1) begin

  print '1'

  -- Conditionally terminate entire script
  if (1=1) begin
    set nocount on
      update #vars set continueScript=0
    set nocount off
    return
  end

end
go

-- Start of second batch
if ((select continueScript from #vars)=1) begin

  print '2'

end
go

And here is the same idea used with a transaction and a try/catch block for each GO-batch. You can try to change the various conditions and/or let it generate an error (divide by 0, see comments) to test how it behaves:

if object_id('tempdb..#vars') is not null
begin
  drop table #vars
end

create table #vars (continueScript bit)
set nocount on
  insert #vars values (1)
set nocount off

Can you pass parameters to an AngularJS controller on creation?

This also works.

Javascript:

var app = angular.module('angularApp', []);

app.controller('MainCtrl', function($scope, name, id) {
    $scope.id = id;
    $scope.name = name;
    // and more init
});

Html:

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html ng-app="angularApp">
  <head lang="en">
    <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.0.3/angular.min.js"></script>
    <script src="app.js"></script>
    <script>
       app.value("name", "James").value("id", "007");
    </script>
  </head>
  <body ng-controller="MainCtrl">
    <h1>I am  {{name}} {{id}}</h1>
  </body>

enum - getting value of enum on string conversion

You are printing the enum object. Use the .value attribute if you wanted just to print that:

print(D.x.value)

See the Programmatic access to enumeration members and their attributes section:

If you have an enum member and need its name or value:

>>>
>>> member = Color.red
>>> member.name
'red'
>>> member.value
1

You could add a __str__ method to your enum, if all you wanted was to provide a custom string representation:

class D(Enum):
    def __str__(self):
        return str(self.value)

    x = 1
    y = 2

Demo:

>>> from enum import Enum
>>> class D(Enum):
...     def __str__(self):
...         return str(self.value)
...     x = 1
...     y = 2
...
>>> D.x
<D.x: 1>
>>> print(D.x)
1

Here you could find the CA certs with instructions to download and convert Mozilla CA certs. Once you get ca-bundle.crt or cacert.pem you just use:

Converting a JToken (or string) to a given Type

var i2 = JsonConvert.DeserializeObject(obj["id"].ToString(), type);

How to test my servlet using JUnit

First you should probably refactor this a bit so that the DataManager is not created in the doPost code.. you should try Dependency Injection to get an instance. (See the Guice video for a nice intro to DI.). If you're being told to start unit testing everything, then DI is a must-have.

Once your dependencies are injected you can test your class in isolation.

To actually test the servlet, there are other older threads that have discussed this.. try here and here.

Using two CSS classes on one element

If you want to apply styles only to an element which is its parents' first child, is it better to use :first-child pseudo-class

.social:first-child{
    border-bottom: dotted 1px #6d6d6d;
    padding-top: 0;
}
.social{
    border: 0;
    width: 330px;
    height: 75px;
    float: right;
    text-align: left;
    padding: 10px 0;
}

Then, the rule .social has both common styles and the last element's styles.

And .social:first-child overrides them with first element's styles.

You could also use :last-child selector, but :first-childis more supported by old browsers: see https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/CSS/:first-child#Browser_compatibility and https://developer.mozilla.org/es/docs/CSS/:last-child#Browser_compatibility.

How to go to a URL using jQuery?

NSNotificationCenter addObserver in Swift

  1. Declare a notification name

    extension Notification.Name {
        static let purchaseDidFinish = Notification.Name("purchaseDidFinish")
    }

  2. You can add observer in two ways:

    Using Selector

    NotificationCenter.default.addObserver(self, selector: #selector(myFunction), name: .purchaseDidFinish, object: nil)

    @objc func myFunction(notification: Notification) {
        print(notification.object ?? "") //myObject
        print(notification.userInfo ?? "") //[AnyHashable("key"): "Value"]
    }

    or using block

    NotificationCenter.default.addObserver(forName: .purchaseDidFinish, object: nil, queue: nil) { [weak self] (notification) in
        guard let strongSelf = self else {
            return
        }

        strongSelf.myFunction(notification: notification)
    }

    func myFunction(notification: Notification) {
        print(notification.object ?? "") //myObject
        print(notification.userInfo ?? "") //[AnyHashable("key"): "Value"]
    }

  3. Post your notification

    NotificationCenter.default.post(name: .purchaseDidFinish, object: "myObject", userInfo: ["key": "Value"])

from iOS 9 and OS X 10.11. It is no longer necessary for an NSNotificationCenter observer to un-register itself when being deallocated. more info

For a block based implementation you need to do a weak-strong dance if you want to use self inside the block. more info

Block based observers need to be removed more info

let center = NSNotificationCenter.defaultCenter()

How to make join queries using Sequelize on Node.js

While the accepted answer isn't technically wrong, it doesn't answer the original question nor the follow up question in the comments, which was what I came here looking for. But I figured it out, so here goes.

If you want to find all Posts that have Users (and only the ones that have users) where the SQL would look like this:

SELECT * FROM posts INNER JOIN users ON posts.user_id = users.id

Which is semantically the same thing as the OP's original SQL:

SELECT * FROM posts, users WHERE posts.user_id = users.id

then this is what you want:

Posts.findAll({
  include: [{
    model: User,
    required: true
   }]
}).then(posts => {
  /* ... */
});

Setting required to true is the key to producing an inner join. If you want a left outer join (where you get all Posts, regardless of whether there's a user linked) then change required to false, or leave it off since that's the default:

Posts.findAll({
  include: [{
    model: User,
//  required: false
   }]
}).then(posts => {
  /* ... */
});

If you want to find all Posts belonging to users whose birth year is in 1984, you'd want:

Posts.findAll({
  include: [{
    model: User,
    where: {year_birth: 1984}
   }]
}).then(posts => {
  /* ... */
});

Note that required is true by default as soon as you add a where clause in.

If you want all Posts, regardless of whether there's a user attached but if there is a user then only the ones born in 1984, then add the required field back in:

Posts.findAll({
  include: [{
    model: User,
    where: {year_birth: 1984}
    required: false,
   }]
}).then(posts => {
  /* ... */
});

If you want all Posts where the name is "Sunshine" and only if it belongs to a user that was born in 1984, you'd do this:

Posts.findAll({
  where: {name: "Sunshine"},
  include: [{
    model: User,
    where: {year_birth: 1984}
   }]
}).then(posts => {
  /* ... */
});

If you want all Posts where the name is "Sunshine" and only if it belongs to a user that was born in the same year that matches the post_year attribute on the post, you'd do this:

Posts.findAll({
  where: {name: "Sunshine"},
  include: [{
    model: User,
    where: ["year_birth = post_year"]
   }]
}).then(posts => {
  /* ... */
});

I know, it doesn't make sense that somebody would make a post the year they were born, but it's just an example - go with it. :)

I figured this out (mostly) from this doc:

How to check if an element is visible with WebDriver

It is important to see if the element is visible or not as the Driver.FindElement will only check the HTML source. But popup code could be in the page html, and not be visible. Therefore, Driver.FindElement function returns a false positive (and your test will fail)

C# Enum - How to Compare Value

use this

if (userProfile.AccountType == AccountType.Retailer)
{
     ...
}

If you want to get int from your AccountType enum and compare it (don't know why) do this:

if((int)userProfile.AccountType == 1)
{
     ...
}

Objet reference not set to an instance of an object exception is because your userProfile is null and you are getting property of null. Check in debug why it's not set.

EDIT (thanks to @Rik and @KonradMorawski) :

Maybe you can do some check before:

if(userProfile!=null)
{
}

or

if(userProfile==null)
{
   throw new ArgumentNullException(nameof(userProfile)); // or any other exception
}

Using cURL with a username and password?

Other answers have suggested netrc to specify username and password, based on what I've read, I agree. Here are some syntax details:

https://ec.haxx.se/usingcurl-netrc.html

Like other answers, I would like to stress the need to pay attention to security regarding this question.

Although I am not an expert, I found these links insightful:

https://ec.haxx.se/cmdline-passwords.html

To summarize:

Using the encrypted versions of the protocols (HTTPS vs HTTP) (FTPS vs FTP) can help avoid Network Leakage.

Using netrc can help avoid Command Line Leakage.

To go a step further, it seems you can also encrypt the netrc files using gpg

https://brandur.org/fragments/gpg-curl

With this your credentials are not "at rest" (stored) as plain text.

Filtering JSON array using jQuery grep()

var data = {
    "items": [{
        "id": 1,
        "category": "cat1"
    }, {
        "id": 2,
        "category": "cat2"
    }, {
        "id": 3,
        "category": "cat1"
    }]
};

var returnedData = $.grep(data.items, function (element, index) {
    return element.id == 1;
});

alert(returnedData[0].id + "  " + returnedData[0].category);

The returnedData is returning an array of objects, so you can access it by array index.

How do I POST urlencoded form data with $http without jQuery?

$http({

    method: "POST",
    url: "/server.php",
    headers: { 'Content-Type': 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded' },
    data: "name='????'&age='28'",

}).success(function(data, status) {
    console.log(data);
    console.log(status);
});

The POST method is not supported for this route. Supported methods: GET, HEAD. Laravel

There are multiple ways you can handle this:

  1. If you insist on using PUT you can change the form action to POST and add a hidden method_field that has a value PUTand a hidden csrf field (if you are using blade then you just need to add @csrf_field and {{ method_field('PUT') }}). This way the form would accept the request.

  2. You can simply change the route and form method to POST. It will work just fine since you are the one defining the route and not using the resource group.

What is pluginManagement in Maven's pom.xml?

The difference between <pluginManagement/> and <plugins/> is that a <plugin/> under:

  • <pluginManagement/> defines the settings for plugins that will be inherited by modules in your build. This is great for cases where you have a parent pom file.

  • <plugins/> is a section for the actual invocation of the plugins. It may or may not be inherited from a <pluginManagement/>.

You don't need to have a <pluginManagement/> in your project, if it's not a parent POM. However, if it's a parent pom, then in the child's pom, you need to have a declaration like:

<plugins>
    <plugin>
        <groupId>com.foo</groupId>
        <artifactId>bar-plugin</artifactId>
    </plugin>
</plugins>

Notice how you aren't defining any configuration. You can inherit it from the parent, unless you need to further adjust your invocation as per the child project's needs.

What is let-* in Angular 2 templates?

update Angular 5

ngOutletContext was renamed to ngTemplateOutletContext

See also https://github.com/angular/angular/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#500-beta5-2017-08-29

original

Templates (<template>, or <ng-template> since 4.x) are added as embedded views and get passed a context.

With let-col the context property $implicit is made available as col within the template for bindings. With let-foo="bar" the context property bar is made available as foo.

For example if you add a template

<ng-template #myTemplate let-col let-foo="bar">
  <div>{{col}}</div>
  <div>{{foo}}</div>
</ng-template>

<!-- render above template with a custom context -->
<ng-template [ngTemplateOutlet]="myTemplate"
             [ngTemplateOutletContext]="{
                                           $implicit: 'some col value',
                                           bar: 'some bar value'
                                        }"
></ng-template>

See also this answer and ViewContainerRef#createEmbeddedView.

*ngFor also works this way. The canonical syntax makes this more obvious

<ng-template ngFor let-item [ngForOf]="items" let-i="index" let-odd="odd">
  <div>{{item}}</div>
</ng-template>

where NgFor adds the template as embedded view to the DOM for each item of items and adds a few values (item, index, odd) to the context.

root = Tk()
e = Entry(root)
e.insert(END, 'default text')

Ruby on Rails: Clear a cached page

Check for a static version of your page in /public and delete it if it's there. When Rails 3.x caches pages, it leaves a static version in your public folder and loads that when users hit your site. This will remain even after you clear your cache.

This API project is not authorized to use this API. Please ensure that this API is activated in the APIs Console

For Angular developer:

When I need to use agm-direction package, the console shows that "you have to have a credential key first, please go to here", but I already have one so I can view the google map.

Aftet a while, I found the only thing you need to do is go to Direction API and enable it, then wait for about 10s, you are good to go. The whole thing sums up that the console log didn't tell what API is needed exactly.

Graph implementation C++

Here is a basic implementation of a graph. Note: I use vertex which is chained to next vertex. And each vertex has a list pointing to adjacent nodes.

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

// 1 ->2
// 1->4
// 2 ->3
// 4->3
// 4 -> 5
// Adjacency list
// 1->2->3-null
// 2->3->null
//4->5->null;

// Structure of a vertex
struct vertex {
   int i;
   struct node *list;
   struct vertex *next;
};
typedef struct vertex * VPTR;

// Struct of adjacency list
struct node {
    struct vertex * n;
    struct node *next;
};

typedef struct node * NODEPTR;

class Graph {
    public:
        // list of nodes chained together
        VPTR V;
        Graph() {
            V = NULL;
        }
        void addEdge(int, int);
        VPTR  addVertex(int);
        VPTR existVertex(int i);
        void listVertex();
};

// If vertex exist, it returns its pointer else returns NULL
VPTR Graph::existVertex(int i) {
    VPTR temp  = V;
    while(temp != NULL) {
        if(temp->i == i) {
            return temp;
        }
        temp = temp->next;
    }

}
// Add a new vertex to the end of the vertex list

How to change an application icon programmatically in Android?

Assuming you mean changing the icon shown on the home screen, this could easily be done by creating a widget that does exactly this. Here's an article that demonstrate how that can be accomplished for a "new messages" type application similar to iPhone:

jQuery validation plugin: accept only alphabetical characters?

Be careful,

jQuery.validator.addMethod("lettersonly", function(value, element)
{
return this.optional(element) || /^[a-z," "]+$/i.test(value);
}, "Letters and spaces only please");

[a-z, " "] by adding the comma and quotation marks, you are allowing spaces, commas and quotation marks into the input box.

For spaces + text, just do this:

jQuery.validator.addMethod("lettersonly", function(value, element)
{
return this.optional(element) || /^[a-z ]+$/i.test(value);
}, "Letters and spaces only please");

[a-z ] this allows spaces aswell as text only.

............................................................................

also the message "Letters and spaces only please" is not required, if you already have a message in messages:

messages:{
        firstname:{
        required: "Enter your first name",
        minlength: jQuery.format("Enter at least (2) characters"),
        maxlength:jQuery.format("First name too long more than (80) characters"),
        lettersonly:jQuery.format("letters only mate")
        },
