Passing data between different controller action methods

Personally I don't like to use TempData, but I prefer to pass a strongly typed object as explained in Passing Information Between Controllers in ASP.Net-MVC.

You should always find a way to make it explicit and expected.

add new row in gridview after binding C#, ASP.net

protected void TableGrid_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
   if (e.Row.RowIndex == -1 && e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.Header)
   {
      GridViewRow gvRow = new GridViewRow(0, 0, DataControlRowType.DataRow,DataControlRowState.Insert);
      for (int i = 0; i < e.Row.Cells.Count; i++)
      {
         TableCell tCell = new TableCell();
         tCell.Text = "&nbsp;";
         gvRow.Cells.Add(tCell);
         Table tbl = e.Row.Parent as Table;
         tbl.Rows.Add(gvRow);
      }
   }
}

Can you delete data from influxdb?

This is for InfluxDB shell version: 1.8.2

Delete works without time field too. As you can see from the series of screen shots:

  1. I create a DB and and add start using it.

InfluxDB create DB and use it

  1. Add some rows in it.Verify if they are added.

Add rows in influxdb and print

  1. Delete all with tag 'Dev1' and verify the same.

Delete all rows for tag from influxdb

Note: The tag name has to be in single quotes only. Not double.

Search and replace a particular string in a file using Perl

A one liner:

perl -pi.back -e 's/<PREF>/ABCD/g;' inputfile

How can I have two fixed width columns with one flexible column in the center?

Compatibility with older browsers can be a drag, so be adviced.

If that is not a problem then go ahead. Run the snippet. Go to full page view and resize. Center will resize itself with no changes to the left or right divs.

Change left and right values to meet your requirement.

Thank you.

Hope this helps.

How to handle static content in Spring MVC?

Since I spent a lot of time on this issue, I thought I'd share my solution. Since spring 3.0.4, there is a configuration parameter that is called <mvc:resources/> (more about that on the reference documentation website) which can be used to serve static resources while still using the DispatchServlet on your site's root.

In order to use this, use a directory structure that looks like the following:

src/
 springmvc/
  web/
   MyController.java
WebContent/
  resources/
   img/
    image.jpg
  WEB-INF/
    jsp/
      index.jsp
    web.xml
    springmvc-servlet.xml

The contents of the files should look like:

src/springmvc/web/HelloWorldController.java:

package springmvc.web;

import org.springframework.stereotype.Controller;
import org.springframework.web.bind.annotation.RequestMapping;

@Controller
public class HelloWorldController {

 @RequestMapping(value="/")
 public String index() {
  return "index";
 }
}

WebContent/WEB-INF/web.xml:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

How to put a List<class> into a JSONObject and then read that object?

This is how I do it using Google Gson. I am not sure, if there are a simpler way to do this.( with or without an external library).

 Type collectionType = new TypeToken<List<Class>>() {
                } // end new
                        .getType();

                String gsonString =
                new Gson().toJson(objList, collectionType);

SyntaxError: Cannot use import statement outside a module

Tried with all the methods but nothing worked

I got one reference from git hub.

1. npm i typescript

2. npm i ts-node

How to hide a <option> in a <select> menu with CSS?

Since you're already using JS, you could create a hidden SELECT element on the page, and for each item you are trying to hide in that list, move it to the hidden list. This way, they can be easily restored.

I don't know a way offhand of doing it in pure CSS... I would have thought that the display:none trick would have worked.

Remove all occurrences of a value from a list?

See the simple solution

How to use variables in SQL statement in Python?

Different implementations of the Python DB-API are allowed to use different placeholders, so you'll need to find out which one you're using -- it could be (e.g. with MySQLdb):

cursor.execute("INSERT INTO table VALUES (%s, %s, %s)", (var1, var2, var3))

or (e.g. with sqlite3 from the Python standard library):

cursor.execute("INSERT INTO table VALUES (?, ?, ?)", (var1, var2, var3))

or others yet (after VALUES you could have (:1, :2, :3) , or "named styles" (:fee, :fie, :fo) or (%(fee)s, %(fie)s, %(fo)s) where you pass a dict instead of a map as the second argument to execute). Check the paramstyle string constant in the DB API module you're using, and look for paramstyle at http://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0249/ to see what all the parameter-passing styles are!

Which version of Python do I have installed?

Although the question is "which version am I using?", this may not actually be everything you need to know. You may have other versions installed and this can cause problems, particularly when installing additional modules. This is my rough-and-ready approach to finding out what versions are installed:

updatedb # Be in root for this
locate site.py # All installations I've ever seen have this

The output for a single Python installation should look something like this:

/usr/lib64/python2.7/site.py
/usr/lib64/python2.7/site.pyc
/usr/lib64/python2.7/site.pyo

Multiple installations will have output something like this:

/root/Python-2.7.6/Lib/site.py
/root/Python-2.7.6/Lib/site.pyc
/root/Python-2.7.6/Lib/site.pyo
/root/Python-2.7.6/Lib/test/test_site.py
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/site.py
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/site.pyc
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/site.pyo
/usr/lib64/python2.6/site.py
/usr/lib64/python2.6/site.pyc
/usr/lib64/python2.6/site.pyo
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site.py
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site.pyc
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site.pyo
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/test/test_site.py
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/test/test_site.pyc
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/test/test_site.pyo

How to access the php.ini from my CPanel?

If you're on a shared hosting environment you won't have access to the php.ini to make these changes, if you need access, a virtual private server (VPS) or a dedicated server may be a better option if you're confident in managing it yourself.

Alternatively if you create a new file called .htaccess in your root of your web directory (Ensure it doesn't contain a .txt extension if using notepad to create the file) and copy something like this inside.

php_value settingToChange 6000

This will only work if your hosting provider let's you override the certain config value. Best to ask if it doesn't work after trying.

JQuery Bootstrap Multiselect plugin - Set a value as selected in the multiselect dropdown

that code should help:

var selected=[101,103];
var obj=$('#data');

    var val=selected[i];
    console.log(val);
   obj.find('option:[value='+val+']').attr('selected',1);
}

Find provisioning profile in Xcode 5

I found a way to find out how your provisioning profile is named. Select the profile that you want in the code sign section in the build settings, then open the selection view again and click on "other" at the bottom. Then occur a view with the naming of the current selected provisioning profile.

You can now find the profile file on the path:

~/Library/MobileDevice/Provisioning Profiles

Update:

For Terminal:

cd ~/Library/MobileDevice/Provisioning\ Profiles

How can I listen to the form submit event in javascript?

This is the simplest way you can have your own javascript function be called when an onSubmit occurs.

HTML

<form>
    <input type="text" name="name">
    <input type="submit" name="submit">
</form>

JavaScript

window.onload = function() {
    var form = document.querySelector("form");
    form.onsubmit = submitted.bind(form);
}

function submitted(event) {
    event.preventDefault();
}

jquery/javascript convert date string to date

I would grab date.js or else you will need to roll your own formatting function.

error: expected unqualified-id before ‘.’ token //(struct)

The struct's name is ReducedForm; you need to make an object (instance of the struct or class) and use that. Do this:

ReducedForm MyReducedForm;
MyReducedForm.iSimplifiedNumerator = iNumerator/iGreatCommDivisor;
MyReducedForm.iSimplifiedDenominator = iDenominator/iGreatCommDivisor;

PowerShell equivalent to grep -f

but select-String doesn't seem to have this option.

Correct. PowerShell is not a clone of *nix shells' toolset.

However it is not hard to build something like it yourself:

$regexes = Get-Content RegexFile.txt |
           Foreach-Object { new-object System.Text.RegularExpressions.Regex $_ }

$fileList | Get-Content | Where-Object {
  foreach ($r in $regexes) {
    if ($r.IsMatch($_)) {
      $true
      break
    }
  }
  $false
}

How to allow only integers in a textbox?

we can use javascript code

function validateAlphaNumericCode(event) {
    keyEntry = (event.which) ? event.which : event.keyCode

    if (((keyEntry >= '65') && (keyEntry <= '90')) || ((keyEntry >= '97') && (keyEntry <= '122')) || (keyEntry == '37') || (keyEntry == '39') || (keyEntry == '46') || (keyEntry == '8') || (keyEntry == '9') || (keyEntry == '95') || ((keyEntry >= '48') && (keyEntry <= '57')))
        return true;
    else
        return false;
}

validate this code with your textbox.

SQL - using alias in Group By

Back in the day I found that Rdb, the former DEC product now supported by Oracle allowed the column alias to be used in the GROUP BY. Mainstream Oracle through version 11 does not allow the column alias to be used in the GROUP BY. Not sure what Postgresql, SQL Server, MySQL, etc will or won't allow. YMMV.

how to get bounding box for div element in jquery

You can get the bounding box of any element by calling getBoundingClientRect

var rect = document.getElementById("myElement").getBoundingClientRect();

That will return an object with left, top, width and height fields.

jQuery - Disable Form Fields

try this

$("#inp").focus(function(){$("#sel").attr('disabled','true');});

$("#inp").blur(function(){$("#sel").removeAttr('disabled');});

vice versa for the select also.

How to create a shared library with cmake?

This minimal CMakeLists.txt file compiles a simple shared library:

cmake_minimum_required(VERSION 2.8)

project (test)
set(CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE Release)

include_directories(${CMAKE_CURRENT_SOURCE_DIR}/include)
add_library(test SHARED src/test.cpp)

However, I have no experience copying files to a different destination with CMake. The file command with the COPY/INSTALL signature looks like it might be useful.

Tar a directory, but don't store full absolute paths in the archive

The following command will create a root directory "." and put all the files from the specified directory into it.

tar -cjf site1.tar.bz2 -C /var/www/site1 .

If you want to put all files in root of the tar file, @chinthaka is right. Just cd in to the directory and do:

tar -cjf target_path/file.tar.gz *

This will put all the files in the cwd to the tar file as root files.

How to find top three highest salary in emp table in oracle?

      SELECT EMPLOYEE, LAST_NAME, SALARY,

How do you normalize a file path in Bash?

I'm late to the party, but this is the solution I've crafted after reading a bunch of threads like this:

resolve_dir() {
        (builtin cd `dirname "${1/#~/$HOME}"`'/'`basename "${1/#~/$HOME}"` 2>/dev/null; if [ $? -eq 0 ]; then pwd; fi)
}

This will resolve the absolute path of $1, play nice with ~, keep symlinks in the path where they are, and it won't mess with your directory stack. It returns the full path or nothing if it doesn't exist. It expects $1 to be a directory and will probably fail if it's not, but that's an easy check to do yourself.

how to use getSharedPreferences in android

How to get all the values of input array element jquery

You can use .map().

Pass each element in the current matched set through a function, producing a new jQuery object containing the return value.

As the return value is a jQuery object, which contains an array, it's very common to call .get() on the result to work with a basic array.

Use

var arr = $('input[name="pname[]"]').map(function () {
    return this.value; // $(this).val()
}).get();

List an Array of Strings in alphabetical order

Arrays.sort(stringArray); This sorts the string array based on the Unicode characters values. All strings that contain uppercase characters at the beginning of the string will be at the top of the sorted list alphabetically followed by all strings with lowercase characters. Hence if the array contains strings beginning with both uppercase characters and lowercase characters, the sorted array would not return a case insensitive order alphabetical list

String[] strArray = { "Carol", "bob", "Alice" };
Arrays.sort(strList);
System.out.println(Arrays.toString(hotel));

Output is : Alice, Carol, bob,

If you require the Strings to be sorted without regards to case, you'll need a second argument, a Comparator, for Arrays.sort(). Such a comparator has already been written for us and can be accessed as a static on the String class named CASE_INSENSITIVE_ORDER.

String[] strArray = { "Carol", "bob", "Alice" };
Arrays.sort(stringArray, String.CASE_INSENSITIVE_ORDER);
System.out.println(Arrays.toString(strArray ));

Output is : Alice, bob, Carol

Using global variables in a function

Writing to explicit elements of a global array does not apparently need the global declaration, though writing to it "wholesale" does have that requirement:

import numpy as np

hostValue = 3.14159
hostArray = np.array([2., 3.])
hostMatrix = np.array([[1.0, 0.0],[ 0.0, 1.0]])

def func1():
    global hostValue # mandatory, else local.
    hostValue = 2.0

def func2():
    global hostValue # mandatory, else UnboundLocalError.
    hostValue += 1.0

def func3():
    global hostArray # mandatory, else local.
    hostArray = np.array([14., 15.])

def func4(): # no need for globals
    hostArray[0] = 123.4

def func5(): # no need for globals
    hostArray[1] += 1.0

def func6(): # no need for globals
    hostMatrix[1][1] = 12.

def func7(): # no need for globals
    hostMatrix[0][0] += 0.33

func1()
print "After func1(), hostValue = ", hostValue
func2()
print "After func2(), hostValue = ", hostValue
func3()
print "After func3(), hostArray = ", hostArray
func4()
print "After func4(), hostArray = ", hostArray
func5()
print "After func5(), hostArray = ", hostArray
func6()
print "After func6(), hostMatrix = \n", hostMatrix
func7()
print "After func7(), hostMatrix = \n", hostMatrix

Getting the HTTP Referrer in ASP.NET

Request.Headers["Referer"]

Explanation

The Request.UrlReferer property will throw a System.UriFormatException if the referer HTTP header is malformed (which can happen since it is not usually under your control).

Therefore, the Request.UrlReferer property is not 100% reliable - it may contain data that cannot be parsed into a Uri class. To ensure the value is always readable, use Request.Headers["Referrer"] instead.

As for using Request.ServerVariables as others here have suggested, per MSDN:

Request.ServerVariables Collection

The ServerVariables collection retrieves the values of predetermined environment variables and request header information.

Request.Headers Property

Gets a collection of HTTP headers.

Request.Headers is a better choice than Request.ServerVariables, since Request.ServerVariables contains all of the environment variables as well as the headers, where Request.Headers is a much shorter list that only contains the headers.

So the most reliable solution is to use the Request.Headers collection to read the value directly. Do heed Microsoft's warnings about HTML encoding the value if you are going to display it on a form, though.

How to send authorization header with axios

Try this :

axios.get(

  )
  .then((response) => {
      var response = response.data;
    },
    (error) => {
      var status = error.response.status
    }
  );

The type List is not generic; it cannot be parameterized with arguments [HTTPClient]

%matplotlib line magic causes SyntaxError in Python script

If you include the following code at the top of your script, matplotlib will run inline when in an IPython environment (like jupyter, hydrogen atom plugin...), and it will still work if you launch the script directly via command line (matplotlib won't run inline, and the charts will open in a pop-ups as usual).

from IPython import get_ipython
ipy = get_ipython()
if ipy is not None:
    ipy.run_line_magic('matplotlib', 'inline')

How to download the latest artifact from Artifactory repository?

Artifactory has a good extensive REST-API and almost anything that can be done in the UI (perhaps even more) can also be done using simple HTTP requests.

The feature that you mention - retrieving the latest artifact, does indeed require the Pro edition; but it can also be achieved with a bit of work on your side and a few basic scripts.

Option 1 - Search:

Perform a GAVC search on a set of group ID and artifact ID coordinates to retrieve all existing versions of that set; then you can use any version string comparison algorithm to determine the latest version.

Option 2 - the Maven way:

Artifactory generates a standard XML metadata that is to be consumed by Maven, because Maven is faced with the same problem - determining the latest version; The metadata lists all available versions of an artifact and is generated for every artifact level folder; with a simple GET request and some XML parsing, you can discover the latest version.

Remember to pipe Observables to async, like *ngFor item of items$ | async, where you are trying to *ngFor item of items$ where items$ is obviously an Observable because you notated it with the $ similar to items$: Observable<IValuePair>, and your assignment may be something like this.items$ = this.someDataService.someMethod<IValuePair>() which returns an Observable of type T.

Adding to this... I believe I have used notation like *ngFor item of (items$ | async)?.someProperty

In Python, how do I loop through the dictionary and change the value if it equals something?

You could create a dict comprehension of just the elements whose values are None, and then update back into the original:

tmp = dict((k,"") for k,v in mydict.iteritems() if v is None)
mydict.update(tmp)

Update - did some performance tests

Well, after trying dicts of from 100 to 10,000 items, with varying percentage of None values, the performance of Alex's solution is across-the-board about twice as fast as this solution.

UDP vs TCP, how much faster is it?

People say that the major thing TCP gives you is reliability. But that's not really true. The most important thing TCP gives you is congestion control: you can run 100 TCP connections across a DSL link all going at max speed, and all 100 connections will be productive, because they all "sense" the available bandwidth. Try that with 100 different UDP applications, all pushing packets as fast as they can go, and see how well things work out for you.

On a larger scale, this TCP behavior is what keeps the Internet from locking up into "congestion collapse".

Things that tend to push applications towards UDP:

  • Group delivery semantics: it's possible to do reliable delivery to a group of people much more efficiently than TCP's point-to-point acknowledgement.

  • Out-of-order delivery: in lots of applications, as long as you get all the data, you don't care what order it arrives in; you can reduce app-level latency by accepting an out-of-order block.

  • Unfriendliness: on a LAN party, you may not care if your web browser functions nicely as long as you're blitting updates to the network as fast as you possibly can.

But even if you care about performance, you probably don't want to go with UDP:

  • You're on the hook for reliability now, and a lot of the things you might do to implement reliability can end up being slower than what TCP already does.

  • Now you're network-unfriendly, which can cause problems in shared environments.

  • Most importantly, firewalls will block you.

You can potentially overcome some TCP performance and latency issues by "trunking" multiple TCP connections together; iSCSI does this to get around congestion control on local area networks, but you can also do it to create a low-latency "urgent" message channel (TCP's "URGENT" behavior is totally broken).

C compile : collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

Your problem is the typo in the function CreateDectionary().You should change it to CreateDictionary(). collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status is the same problem in both C and C++, usually it means that you have unresolved symbols. In your case is the typo that i mentioned before.

Adding and using header (HTTP) in nginx

To add a header just add the following code to the location block where you want to add the header:

location some-location {
  add_header X-my-header my-header-content;
}

Obviously, replace the x-my-header and my-header-content with what you want to add. And that's all there is to it.

if you meant comparing nth item with n+1 th item in the list you could also do with

note there is no hard coding going on there. This should be ok unless you feel otherwise.

How to connect mySQL database using C++

Finally I could successfully compile a program with C++ connector in Ubuntu 12.04 I have installed the connector using this command

'apt-get install libmysqlcppconn-dev'

Initially I faced the same problem with "undefined reference to `get_driver_instance' " to solve this I declare my driver instance variable of MySQL_Driver type. For ready reference this type is defined in mysql_driver.h file. Here is the code snippet I used in my program.

sql::mysql::MySQL_Driver *driver;
try {
    driver = sql::mysql::get_driver_instance();
}

and I compiled the program with -l mysqlcppconn linker option

and don't forget to include this header

I faced the problem in IntelliJ Idea 14 actually. My project was working fine on Android Studio. I decided to continue development on IntelliJ idea. After import of project, I wasn't successful to RUN it and I got similar error message in Edit Configuration box. Based on What @Ali said, I deleted all my SDKs and reinstalled them again but didn't work.

I opened "Project Structure">"Platform Settings">SDKs. I found "Build target" of "Android API 21 Platform" is not set. By set it to one of my latest SDK the problem fixed and I could run project without problem.

Find nearest latitude/longitude with an SQL query

Google's solution:

Creating the Table

When you create the MySQL table, you want to pay particular attention to the lat and lng attributes. With the current zoom capabilities of Google Maps, you should only need 6 digits of precision after the decimal. To keep the storage space required for your table at a minimum, you can specify that the lat and lng attributes are floats of size (10,6). That will let the fields store 6 digits after the decimal, plus up to 4 digits before the decimal, e.g. -123.456789 degrees. Your table should also have an id attribute to serve as the primary key.

CREATE TABLE `markers` (
  `id` INT NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY ,
  `name` VARCHAR( 60 ) NOT NULL ,
  `address` VARCHAR( 80 ) NOT NULL ,
  `lat` FLOAT( 10, 6 ) NOT NULL ,
  `lng` FLOAT( 10, 6 ) NOT NULL
) ENGINE = MYISAM ;

Populating the Table

After creating the table, it's time to populate it with data. The sample data provided below is for about 180 pizzarias scattered across the United States. In phpMyAdmin, you can use the IMPORT tab to import various file formats, including CSV (comma-separated values). Microsoft Excel and Google Spreadsheets both export to CSV format, so you can easily transfer data from spreadsheets to MySQL tables through exporting/importing CSV files.

INSERT INTO `markers` (`name`, `address`, `lat`, `lng`) VALUES ('Frankie Johnnie & Luigo Too','939 W El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA','37.386339','-122.085823');
INSERT INTO `markers` (`name`, `address`, `lat`, `lng`) VALUES ('Amici\'s East Coast Pizzeria','790 Castro St, Mountain View, CA','37.38714','-122.083235');
INSERT INTO `markers` (`name`, `address`, `lat`, `lng`) VALUES ('Kapp\'s Pizza Bar & Grill','191 Castro St, Mountain View, CA','37.393885','-122.078916');
INSERT INTO `markers` (`name`, `address`, `lat`, `lng`) VALUES ('Round Table Pizza: Mountain View','570 N Shoreline Blvd, Mountain View, CA','37.402653','-122.079354');
INSERT INTO `markers` (`name`, `address`, `lat`, `lng`) VALUES ('Tony & Alba\'s Pizza & Pasta','619 Escuela Ave, Mountain View, CA','37.394011','-122.095528');
INSERT INTO `markers` (`name`, `address`, `lat`, `lng`) VALUES ('Oregano\'s Wood-Fired Pizza','4546 El Camino Real, Los Altos, CA','37.401724','-122.114646');

Finding Locations with MySQL

To find locations in your markers table that are within a certain radius distance of a given latitude/longitude, you can use a SELECT statement based on the Haversine formula. The Haversine formula is used generally for computing great-circle distances between two pairs of coordinates on a sphere. An in-depth mathemetical explanation is given by Wikipedia and a good discussion of the formula as it relates to programming is on Movable Type's site.

Here's the SQL statement that will find the closest 20 locations that are within a radius of 25 miles to the 37, -122 coordinate. It calculates the distance based on the latitude/longitude of that row and the target latitude/longitude, and then asks for only rows where the distance value is less than 25, orders the whole query by distance, and limits it to 20 results. To search by kilometers instead of miles, replace 3959 with 6371.

SELECT
id,
(
   3959 *
   acos(cos(radians(37)) *
   cos(radians(lat)) *
   cos(radians(lng) -
   radians(-122)) +
   sin(radians(37)) *
   sin(radians(lat )))
) AS distance
FROM markers
HAVING distance < 28
ORDER BY distance LIMIT 0, 20;

This one is to find latitudes and longitudes in a distance less than 28 miles.

Another one is to find them in a distance between 28 and 29 miles:

SELECT
id,
(
   3959 *
   acos(cos(radians(37)) *
   cos(radians(lat)) *
   cos(radians(lng) -
   radians(-122)) +
   sin(radians(37)) *
   sin(radians(lat )))
) AS distance
FROM markers
HAVING distance < 29 and distance > 28
ORDER BY distance LIMIT 0, 20;

How to filter object array based on attributes?

You could do this pretty easily - there are probably many implementations you can choose from, but this is my basic idea (and there is probably some format where you can iterate over an object with jQuery, I just cant think of it right now):

function filter(collection, predicate)
{
    var result = new Array();
    var length = collection.length;

    for(var j = 0; j < length; j++)
    {
        if(predicate(collection[j]) == true)
        {
             result.push(collection[j]);
        }
    }

    return result;
}

And then you could invoke this function like so:

filter(json, function(element)
{
    if(element.price <= 1000 && element.sqft >= 500 && element.num_of_beds > 2 && element.num_of_baths > 2.5)
        return true;

    return false;
});

This way, you can invoke the filter based on whatever predicate you define, or even filter multiple times using smaller filters.

Python memory usage of numpy arrays

You can use array.nbytes for numpy arrays, for example:

>>> import numpy as np
>>> from sys import getsizeof
>>> a = [0] * 1024
>>> b = np.array(a)
>>> getsizeof(a)
8264
>>> b.nbytes
8192

Adding a column after another column within SQL

In a Firebird database the AFTER myOtherColumn does not work but you can try re-positioning the column using:

ALTER TABLE name ALTER column POSITION new_position

I guess it may work in other cases as well.

Installing Apache Maven Plugin for Eclipse

  3. Click on "Install" button for Maven Integration for Eclipse (Juno and newer)

With this, maven should get install without any problem.

Can I delete data from the iOS DeviceSupport directory?

The ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/iOS DeviceSupport folder is basically only needed to symbolicate crash logs.

You could completely purge the entire folder. Of course the next time you connect one of your devices, Xcode would redownload the symbol data from the device.

I clean out that folder once a year or so by deleting folders for versions of iOS I no longer support or expect to ever have to symbolicate a crash log for.

How to export JSON from MongoDB using Robomongo

Robomongo's shell functionality will solve the problem. In my case I needed couple of columns as CSV format.

while (cursor.hasNext()) {
    var record = cursor.next();
    print(record.CustomerID + "," + record.Name)
}

Output : -------

SELECT CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), GETDATE(), 110) what is the meaning of 110 here?

That number indicates Date and Time Styles

You need to look at CAST and CONVERT (Transact-SQL). Here you can find the meaning of all these Date and Time Styles.

Styles with century (e.g. 100, 101 etc) means year will come in yyyy format. While styles without century (e.g. 1,7,10) means year will come in yy format.

You can also refer to SQL Server Date Formats. Here you can find all date formats with examples.

How can I write a byte array to a file in Java?

To write a byte array to a file use the method

public void write(byte[] b) throws IOException

from BufferedOutputStream class.

java.io.BufferedOutputStream implements a buffered output stream. By setting up such an output stream, an application can write bytes to the underlying output stream without necessarily causing a call to the underlying system for each byte written.

For your example you need something like:

String filename= "C:/SO/SOBufferedOutputStreamAnswer";
BufferedOutputStream bos = null;
try {
//create an object of FileOutputStream
FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(new File(filename));

//create an object of BufferedOutputStream
bos = new BufferedOutputStream(fos);

KeyGenerator kgen = KeyGenerator.getInstance("AES");
kgen.init(128);
SecretKey key = kgen.generateKey();
byte[] encoded = key.getEncoded();

bos.write(encoded);

}
// catch and handle exceptions...

MySQL - Trigger for updating same table after insert

It seems that you can't do all this in a trigger. According to the documentation:

Within a stored function or trigger, it is not permitted to modify a table that is already being used (for reading or writing) by the statement that invoked the function or trigger.

According to this answer, it seems that you should:

create a stored procedure, that inserts into/Updates the target table, then updates the other row(s), all in a transaction.

With a stored proc you'll manually commit the changes (insert and update). I haven't done this in MySQL, but this post looks like a good example.

Push local Git repo to new remote including all branches and tags

The manpage for git-push is worth a read. Combined with this website I wrote the following in my .git/config:

[remote "origin"]
    url = …
    fetch = …
    push = :
    push = refs/tags/*

The push = : means "push any 'matching' branches (i.e. branches that already exist in the remote repository and have a local counterpart)", while push = refs/tags/* means "push all tags".

So now I only have to run git push to push all matching branches and all tags.

Yes, this is not quite what the OP wanted (all of the branches to push must already exist on the remote side), but might be helpful for those who find this question while googling for "how do I push branches and tags at the same time".

There are three event handlers bound. If we don’t stop any propagation, then there should be four alerts - three on the child div, and one on the parent div.

If we stop the event from propagating, then there will be 3 alerts (all on the inner child div). Since the event won’t propagate up the DOM hierarchy, the parent div won’t see it, and its handler won’t fire.

If we stop propagation immediately, then there will only be 1 alert. Even though there are three event handlers attached to the inner child div, only 1 is executed and any further propagation is killed immediately, even within the same element.

UnicodeDecodeError: 'utf8' codec can't decode bytes in position 3-6: invalid data

The error you're seeing means the data you receive from the remote end isn't valid JSON. JSON (according to the specifiation) is normally UTF-8, but can also be UTF-16 or UTF-32 (in either big- or little-endian.) The exact error you're seeing means some part of the data was not valid UTF-8 (and also wasn't UTF-16 or UTF-32, as those would produce different errors.)

Perhaps you should examine the actual response you receive from the remote end, instead of blindly passing the data to json.loads(). Right now, you're reading all the data from the response into a string and assuming it's JSON. Instead, check the content type of the response. Make sure the webpage is actually claiming to give you JSON and not, for example, an error message that isn't JSON.

(Also, after checking the response use json.load() by passing it the file-like object returned by opener.open(), instead of reading all data into a string and passing that to json.loads().)

What does the keyword "transient" mean in Java?

Transient variables in Java are never serialized.

Returning null in a method whose signature says return int?

int is a primitive, null is not a value that it can take on. You could change the method return type to return java.lang.Integer and then you can return null, and existing code that returns int will get autoboxed.

Nulls are assigned only to reference types, it means the reference doesn't point to anything. Primitives are not reference types, they are values, so they are never set to null.

Using the object wrapper java.lang.Integer as the return value means you are passing back an Object and the object reference can be null.

How to programmatically clear application data

You can use the package-manager tool to clear data for installed apps (similar to pressing the 'clear data' button in the app settings on your device). So using adb you could do:

adb shell pm clear my.wonderful.app.package

When or Why to use a "SET DEFINE OFF" in Oracle Database

By default, SQL Plus treats '&' as a special character that begins a substitution string. This can cause problems when running scripts that happen to include '&' for other reasons:

SQL> insert into customers (customer_name) values ('Marks & Spencers Ltd');
Enter value for spencers:
old 1: insert into customers (customer_name) values ('Marks & Spencers Ltd')
new 1: insert into customers (customer_name) values ('Marks Ltd')

1 row created.

SQL> select customer_name from customers;

CUSTOMER_NAME
------------------------------
Marks  Ltd

If you know your script includes (or may include) data containing '&' characters, and you do not want the substitution behaviour as above, then use set define off to switch off the behaviour while running the script:

SQL> set define off
SQL> insert into customers (customer_name) values ('Marks & Spencers Ltd');

1 row created.

SQL> select customer_name from customers;

CUSTOMER_NAME
------------------------------
Marks & Spencers Ltd

You might want to add set define on at the end of the script to restore the default behaviour.

How do I make a textbox that only accepts numbers?

FAIL-SAFE and simple "recursive" method, which can be used with multiple textboxes.

It blocks the wrong keyboard typed characters and also pasted values etc. It only accepts integer numbers, and the maximum number length is the maximum length of a string type (which is int, really long!)

public void Check_If_Int_On_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
   // This method checks that each inputed character is a number. Any non-numeric
   // characters are removed from the text

   TextBox textbox = (TextBox)sender;

   // If the text is empty, return
   if (textbox.Text.Length == 0) { return; }

   // Check the new Text value if it's only numbers
   byte parsedValue;
   if (!byte.TryParse(textbox.Text[(textbox.Text.Length - 1)].ToString(), out parsedValue))
   {
      // Remove the last character as it wasn't a number
      textbox.Text = textbox.Text.Remove((textbox.Text.Length - 1));

      // Move the cursor to the end of text
      textbox.SelectionStart = textbox.Text.Length;
    }
 }

Do you have to put Task.Run in a method to make it async?

One of the most important thing to remember when decorating a method with async is that at least there is one await operator inside the method. In your example, I would translate it as shown below using TaskCompletionSource.

private Task<int> DoWorkAsync()
{
    //create a task completion source
    //the type of the result value must be the same
    //as the type in the returning Task
    TaskCompletionSource<int> tcs = new TaskCompletionSource<int>();
    Task.Run(() =>
    {
        int result = 1 + 2;
        //set the result to TaskCompletionSource
        tcs.SetResult(result);
    });
    //return the Task
    return tcs.Task;
}

private async void DoWork()
{
    int result = await DoWorkAsync();
}

Redirecting Output from within Batch file

Adding the following lines at the bottom of your batch file will grab everything just as displayed inside the CMD window and export into a text file:

powershell -c "$wshell = New-Object -ComObject wscript.shell; $wshell.SendKeys('^a')
powershell -c "$wshell = New-Object -ComObject wscript.shell; $wshell.SendKeys('^c')
powershell Get-Clipboard > MyLog.txt

It basically performs a select all -> copy into clipboard -> paste into text file.

Using ng-if as a switch inside ng-repeat?

I will suggest move all templates to separate files, and don't do spagetti inside repeat

take a look here:

python setup.py uninstall

If you still have files that are supposed to be deleted after re-installing a package, make sure the folder build is also deleted. Therefore, assuming that pkg is the package you want to delete:

rm -r $(python3 -c "import pkg; print(pkg.__path__[0] + '*' )")
rm -rf build

Obove work out for python3 and delete the package and its *.egg-info file

How to retrieve a user environment variable in CMake (Windows)

You can also invoke itself to do this in a cross-platform way:

cmake -E env EnvironmentVariableName="Hello World" cmake ..

env [--unset=NAME]... [NAME=VALUE]... COMMAND [ARG]...

Run command in a modified environment.

Just be aware that this may only work the first time. If CMake re-configures with one of the consecutive builds (you just call e.g. make, one CMakeLists.txt was changed and CMake runs through the generation process again), the user defined environment variable may not be there anymore (in comparison to system wide environment variables).

So I transfer those user defined environment variables in my projects into a CMake cached variable:

cmake_minimum_required(VERSION 2.6)

project(PrintEnv NONE)

if (NOT "$ENV{EnvironmentVariableName}" STREQUAL "")
    set(EnvironmentVariableName "$ENV{EnvironmentVariableName}" CACHE INTERNAL "Copied from environment variable")
endif()

message("EnvironmentVariableName = ${EnvironmentVariableName}")

facebook: permanent Page Access Token?

If you are requesting only page data, then you can use a page access token. You will only have to authorize the user once to get the user access token; extend it to two months validity then request the token for the page. This is all explained in Scenario 5. Note, that the acquired page access token is only valid for as long as the user access token is valid.

Better way to sum a property value in an array

Alternative for improved readability and using Map and Reduce:

const traveler = [
    {  description: 'Senior', amount: 50 },
    {  description: 'Senior', amount: 50 },
    {  description: 'Adult', amount: 75 },
    {  description: 'Child', amount: 35 },
    {  description: 'Infant', amount: 25 },
];

const sum = traveler
  .map(item => item.amount)
  .reduce((prev, curr) => prev + curr, 0);

Re-useable function:

const calculateSum = (obj, field) => obj
  .map(items => items.attributes[field])
  .reduce((prev, curr) => prev + curr, 0);

WMI "installed" query different from add/remove programs list?

In order to build a more-or-less reliable list of applications that appear in the "Programs and Feautres" in the Control Panel, you have to consider that not all applications were installed using MSI. WMI only provides the ones installed with MSI.

Here is a short summary of what I've found out:

MSI applications always have a Product Code (GUID) subkey under HKLM\...\Uninstall and/or under HKLM\...\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products. In addition, they may have a key that looks like HKLM\...\Uninstall\NotAGuid.

Non-MSI applications do not have a product code, and therefore have keys like HKLM\...\Uninstall\NotAGuid or HKCU\...\Uninstall\NotAGuid.

How to switch to other branch in Source Tree to commit the code?

  1. Go to the log view (to be able to go here go to View -> log view).
  2. Double click on the line with the branch label stating that branch. Automatically, it will switch branch. (A prompt will dropdown and say switching branch.)
  3. If you have two or more branches on the same line, it will ask you via prompt which branch you want to switch. Choose the specific branch from the dropdown and click ok.

To determine which branch you are now on, look at the side bar, under BRANCHES, you are in the branch that is in BOLD LETTERS.

C++ Array of pointers: delete or delete []?

To simplify the answare let's look on the following code:

#include "stdafx.h"
#include <iostream>
using namespace std;

class A
{
private:
    int m_id;
    static int count;
public:
    A() {count++; m_id = count;}
    A(int id) { m_id = id; }
    ~A() {cout<< "Destructor A "   <<m_id<<endl; }
};

int A::count = 0;

void f1()
{
    A* arr = new A[10];
    //delete operate only one constructor, and crash!
    delete arr;
    //delete[] arr;
}

int main()
{
    f1();
    system("PAUSE");
    return 0;
}

The output is: Destructor A 1 and then it's crashing (Expression: _BLOCK_TYPE_IS_VALID(phead- nBlockUse)).

We need to use: delete[] arr; becuse it's delete the whole array and not just one cell!

try to use delete[] arr; the output is: Destructor A 10 Destructor A 9 Destructor A 8 Destructor A 7 Destructor A 6 Destructor A 5 Destructor A 4 Destructor A 3 Destructor A 2 Destructor A 1

The same principle is for an array of pointers:

void f2()
{
    A** arr = new A*[10];
    for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++)
    {
        arr[i] = new A(i);
    }
    for(int i = 0; i < 10; i++)
    {
        delete arr[i];//delete the A object allocations.
    }

    delete[] arr;//delete the array of pointers
}

if we'll use delete arr instead of delete[] arr. it will not delete the whole pointers in the array => memory leak of pointer objects!

Use RSA private key to generate public key?

My answer below is a bit lengthy, but hopefully it provides some details that are missing in previous answers. I'll start with some related statements and finally answer the initial question.

To encrypt something using RSA algorithm you need modulus and encryption (public) exponent pair (n, e). That's your public key. To decrypt something using RSA algorithm you need modulus and decryption (private) exponent pair (n, d). That's your private key.

To encrypt something using RSA public key you treat your plaintext as a number and raise it to the power of e modulus n:

ciphertext = ( plaintext^e ) mod n

To decrypt something using RSA private key you treat your ciphertext as a number and raise it to the power of d modulus n:

plaintext = ( ciphertext^d ) mod n

To generate private (d,n) key using openssl you can use the following command:

openssl genrsa -out private.pem 1024

To generate public (e,n) key from the private key using openssl you can use the following command:

openssl rsa -in private.pem -out public.pem -pubout

To dissect the contents of the private.pem private RSA key generated by the openssl command above run the following (output truncated to labels here):

openssl rsa -in private.pem -text -noout | less

modulus         - n
privateExponent - d
publicExponent  - e
prime1          - p
prime2          - q
exponent1       - d mod (p-1)
exponent2       - d mod (q-1)
coefficient     - (q^-1) mod p

Shouldn't private key consist of (n, d) pair only? Why are there 6 extra components? It contains e (public exponent) so that public RSA key can be generated/extracted/derived from the private.pem private RSA key. The rest 5 components are there to speed up the decryption process. It turns out that by pre-computing and storing those 5 values it is possible to speed the RSA decryption by the factor of 4. Decryption will work without those 5 components, but it can be done faster if you have them handy. The speeding up algorithm is based on the Chinese Remainder Theorem.

Yes, private.pem RSA private key actually contains all of those 8 values; none of them are generated on the fly when you run the previous command. Try running the following commands and compare output:

# Convert the key from PEM to DER (binary) format
openssl rsa -in private.pem -outform der -out private.der

# Print private.der private key contents as binary stream
xxd -p private.der

# Now compare the output of the above command with output
# of the earlier openssl command that outputs private key
# components. If you stare at both outputs long enough
# you should be able to confirm that all components are
# indeed lurking somewhere in the binary stream
openssl rsa -in private.pem -text -noout | less

This structure of the RSA private key is recommended by the PKCS#1 v1.5 as an alternative (second) representation. PKCS#1 v2.0 standard excludes e and d exponents from the alternative representation altogether. PKCS#1 v2.1 and v2.2 propose further changes to the alternative representation, by optionally including more CRT-related components.

To see the contents of the public.pem public RSA key run the following (output truncated to labels here):

openssl rsa -in public.pem -text -pubin -noout

Modulus             - n
Exponent (public)   - e

No surprises here. It's just (n, e) pair, as promised.

Now finally answering the initial question: As was shown above private RSA key generated using openssl contains components of both public and private keys and some more. When you generate/extract/derive public key from the private key, openssl copies two of those components (e,n) into a separate file which becomes your public key.

Taking the record with the max date

If date and col_date are the same columns you should simply do:

SELECT A, MAX(date) FROM t GROUP BY A

Why not use:

WITH x AS ( SELECT A, MAX(col_date) m FROM TABLENAME )
SELECT A, date FROM TABLENAME t JOIN x ON x.A = t.A AND x.m = t.col_date

Otherwise:

SELECT A, FIRST_VALUE(date) KEEP(dense_rank FIRST ORDER BY col_date DESC)
  FROM TABLENAME
 GROUP BY A

ObjectiveC Parse Integer from String

If I understood you correctly, you need to convert your NSString to int? Try this peace of code:

NSString *stringWithNumberInside = [_returnedArguments objectAtIndex:2];
int number;
sscanf([stringWithNumberInside UTF8String], "%x", &flags);

How can I use querySelector on to pick an input element by name?

querySelector() matched the id in document. You must write id of password in .html

Then pass it to querySelector() with #symbol & .value property.

Example:

let myVal = document.querySelector('#pwd').value

How to move a file?

For either the os.rename or shutil.move you will need to import the module. No * character is necessary to get all the files moved.

We have a folder at /opt/awesome called source with one file named awesome.txt.

in /opt/awesome
? ? ls
source
? ? ls source
awesome.txt

python
>>> source = '/opt/awesome/source'
>>> destination = '/opt/awesome/destination'
>>> import os
>>> os.rename(source, destination)
>>> os.listdir('/opt/awesome')
['destination']

We used os.listdir to see that the folder name in fact changed. Here's the shutil moving the destination back to source.

>>> import shutil
>>> shutil.move(destination, source)
>>> os.listdir('/opt/awesome/source')
['awesome.txt']

This time I checked inside the source folder to be sure the awesome.txt file I created exists. It is there :)

Now we have moved a folder and its files from a source to a destination and back again.

Adding a column to a dataframe in R

Even if that's a 7 years old question, people new to R should consider using the data.table, package.

A data.table is a data.frame so all you can do for/to a data.frame you can also do. But many think are ORDERS of magnitude faster with data.table.

vec <- 1:10
library(data.table)
DT <- data.table(start=c(1,3,5,7), end=c(2,6,7,9))
DT[,new:=apply(DT,1,function(row) mean(vec[ row[1] : row[2] ] ))]

How to implement a confirmation (yes/no) DialogPreference?

Use Intent Preference if you are using preference xml screen or you if you are using you custom screen then the code would be like below

intentClearCookies = getPreferenceManager().createPreferenceScreen(this);
    Intent clearcookies = new Intent(PopupPostPref.this, ClearCookies.class);

    intentClearCookies.setIntent(clearcookies);
    intentClearCookies.setTitle(R.string.ClearCookies);
    intentClearCookies.setEnabled(true);
    launchPrefCat.addPreference(intentClearCookies);

And then Create Activity Class somewhat like below, As different people as different approach you can use any approach you like this is just an example.

public class ClearCookies extends Activity {

@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
    // TODO Auto-generated method stub
    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
    requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE);

    showDialog();
}

/**
 * @throws NotFoundException
 */
private void showDialog() throws NotFoundException {
    new AlertDialog.Builder(this)
            .setTitle(getResources().getString(R.string.ClearCookies))
            .setMessage(
                    getResources().getString(R.string.ClearCookieQuestion))
            .setIcon(
                    getResources().getDrawable(
                            android.R.drawable.ic_dialog_alert))
            .setPositiveButton(
                    getResources().getString(R.string.PostiveYesButton),
                    new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() {

                        @Override
                        public void onClick(DialogInterface dialog,
                                int which) {

As told before there are number of ways doing this. this is one of the way you can do your task, please accept the answer if you feel that you have got it what you wanted.

Spring MVC - Why not able to use @RequestBody and @RequestParam together

The @RequestBody javadoc states

Annotation indicating a method parameter should be bound to the body of the web request.

It uses registered instances of HttpMessageConverter to deserialize the request body into an object of the annotated parameter type.

And the @RequestParam javadoc states

Annotation which indicates that a method parameter should be bound to a web request parameter.

  1. Spring binds the body of the request to the parameter annotated with @RequestBody.

  2. Spring binds request parameters from the request body (url-encoded parameters) to your method parameter. Spring will use the name of the parameter, ie. name, to map the parameter.

  3. Parameters are resolved in order. The @RequestBody is processed first. Spring will consume all the HttpServletRequest InputStream. When it then tries to resolve the @RequestParam, which is by default required, there is no request parameter in the query string or what remains of the request body, ie. nothing. So it fails with 400 because the request can't be correctly handled by the handler method.

  4. The handler for @RequestParam acts first, reading what it can of the HttpServletRequest InputStream to map the request parameter, ie. the whole query string/url-encoded parameters. It does so and gets the value abc mapped to the parameter name. When the handler for @RequestBody runs, there's nothing left in the request body, so the argument used is the empty string.

  5. The handler for @RequestBody reads the body and binds it to the parameter. The handler for @RequestParam can then get the request parameter from the URL query string.

  6. The handler for @RequestParam reads from both the body and the URL query String. It would usually put them in a Map, but since the parameter is of type String, Spring will serialize the Map as comma separated values. The handler for @RequestBody then, again, has nothing left to read from the body.

Can a Byte[] Array be written to a file in C#?

You can use a BinaryWriter object.

protected bool SaveData(string FileName, byte[] Data)
{
    BinaryWriter Writer = null;
    string Name = @"C:\temp\yourfile.name";

    try
    {
        // Create a new stream to write to the file
        Writer = new BinaryWriter(File.OpenWrite(Name));

        // Writer raw data
        Writer.Write(Data);
        Writer.Flush();
        Writer.Close();
    }
    catch
    {
        //...
        return false;
    }

    return true;
}

Edit: Oops, forgot the finally part... lets say it is left as an exercise for the reader ;-)

What does %s and %d mean in printf in the C language?

The first argument to printf is a string of identifiers.

%s refers to a string %d refers to an integer %c refers to a character. Therefore: %s%d%s%c\n prints the string "The first character in sting ", %d prints i, %s prints " is ", and %c prints str[0].

Difference between using Throwable and Exception in a try catch

Throwable is super class of Exception as well as Error. In normal cases we should always catch sub-classes of Exception, so that the root cause doesn't get lost.

Only special cases where you see possibility of things going wrong which is not in control of your Java code, you should catch Error or Throwable.

I remember catching Throwable to flag that a native library is not loaded.

How to remove components created with Angular-CLI

This is the NPM known Issue for windows that NPM is pretty much unusable under Windows. This is of course related to the path size limitations.

https://github.com/npm/npm/issues/5641

My main concern here is that there are no mention of these issues when installing node or npm via the website. Not being able to install prime packages makes npm fundamentally unusable for windows.

Change color of Button when Mouse is over

As others already said, there seems to be no good solution to do that easily.
But to keep your code clean I suggest creating a seperate class that hides the ugly XAML.

How to use after we created the ButtonEx-class:

<Window x:Class="MyApp.MainWindow"
        xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
        xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
        xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008"
        xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006"
        xmlns:wpfEx="clr-namespace:WpfExtensions"
        mc:Ignorable="d"
        Title="MainWindow" Height="450" Width="800">
    <Grid>
        <wpfEx:ButtonEx HoverBackground="Red"></wpfEx:ButtonEx>
    </Grid>

How to assert two list contain the same elements in Python?

Slightly faster version of the implementation (If you know that most couples lists will have different lengths):

def checkEqual(L1, L2):
    return len(L1) == len(L2) and sorted(L1) == sorted(L2)

Comparing:

>>> timeit(lambda: sorting([1,2,3], [3,2,1]))
2.42745304107666
>>> timeit(lambda: lensorting([1,2,3], [3,2,1]))
2.5644469261169434 # speed down not much (for large lists the difference tends to 0)

>>> timeit(lambda: sorting([1,2,3], [3,2,1,0]))
2.4570400714874268
>>> timeit(lambda: lensorting([1,2,3], [3,2,1,0]))
0.9596951007843018 # speed up

How to add title to subplots in Matplotlib?

A shorthand answer assuming import matplotlib.pyplot as plt:

plt.gca().set_title('title')

as in:

plt.subplot(221)
plt.gca().set_title('title')
plt.subplot(222)
etc...

Then there is no need for superfluous variables.

Android checkbox style

Maybe this will satisfy you -

something.xml

<CheckBox
    android:text="Custom CheckBox"
    android:button="@drawable/checkbox_selector"
    android:layout_width="wrap_content"
    android:layout_height="wrap_content"/>

Selector

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
    <item android:state_checked="true" android:drawable="@drawable/star_down" />
    <item android:state_checked="false" android:drawable="@drawable/star" />
</selector>

SQL: How to properly check if a record exists

It's better to use either of the following:

-- Method 1.
SELECT 1
FROM table_name
WHERE unique_key = value;

-- Method 2.
SELECT COUNT(1)
FROM table_name
WHERE unique_key = value;

The first alternative should give you no result or one result, the second count should be zero or one.

How old is the documentation you're using? Although you've read good advice, most query optimizers in recent RDBMS's optimize SELECT COUNT(*) anyway, so while there is a difference in theory (and older databases), you shouldn't notice any difference in practice.

Case vs If Else If: Which is more efficient?

Wikipedia's Switch statement entry is pretty big and actually pretty good. Interesting points:

  • Switches are not inherently fast. It depends on the language, compiler, and specific use.
  • A compiler may optimize switches using jump tables or indexed function pointers.
  • The statement was inspired by some interesting math from Stephen Kleene (and others).

For a strange and interesting optimization using a C switch see Duff's Device.

Reset git proxy to default configuration

On my Linux machine :

git config --system --get https.proxy (returns nothing)
git config --global --get https.proxy (returns nothing)

git config --system --get http.proxy (returns nothing)
git config --global --get http.proxy (returns nothing)

I found out my https_proxy and http_proxy are set, so I just unset them.

unset https_proxy
unset http_proxy

On my Windows machine :

set https_proxy=""
set http_proxy=""

Optionally use setx to set environment variables permanently on Windows and set system environment using "/m"

setx https_proxy=""
setx http_proxy=""

Executing <script> injected by innerHTML after AJAX call

JavaScript inserted as DOM text will not execute. However, you can use the dynamic script pattern to accomplish your goal. The basic idea is to move the script that you want to execute into an external file and create a script tag when you get your Ajax response. You then set the src attribute of your script tag and voila, it loads and executes the external script.

This other StackOverflow post may also be helpful to you: Can scripts be inserted with innerHTML?.

isolating a sub-string in a string before a symbol in SQL Server 2008

How to access the contents of a vector from a pointer to the vector in C++?

You can access the iterator methods directly:

std::vector<int> *intVec;
std::vector<int>::iterator it;

for( it = intVec->begin(); it != intVec->end(); ++it )
{
}

If you want the array-access operator, you'd have to de-reference the pointer. For example:

std::vector<int> *intVec;

int val = (*intVec)[0];

ASP.NET MVC 3 Razor: Include JavaScript file in the head tag

You can use Named Sections.

_Layout.cshtml

<head>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="@Url.Content("/Scripts/jquery-1.6.2.min.js")"></script>
    @RenderSection("JavaScript", required: false)
</head>

_SomeView.cshtml

@section JavaScript
{
   <script type="text/javascript" src="@Url.Content("/Scripts/SomeScript.js")"></script>
   <script type="text/javascript" src="@Url.Content("/Scripts/AnotherScript.js")"></script>
}

Convert an integer to a float number

There is no float type. Looks like you want float64. You could also use float32 if you only need a single-precision floating point value.

package main

import "fmt"

func main() {
    i := 5
    f := float64(i)
    fmt.Printf("f is %f\n", f)
}

How do I search for names with apostrophe in SQL Server?

Compare Names containing apostrophe in DB through Java code

String sql="select lastname from employee where FirstName like '%"+firstName.trim().toLowerCase().replaceAll("'", "''")+"%'"

        rs=statement.executeQuery(Sql);

iterate the results.

GIT fatal: ambiguous argument 'HEAD': unknown revision or path not in the working tree

remove all variables except functions

I wrote this to remove all objects apart from functions from the current environment (Programming language used is R with IDE R-Studio):

    remove_list=c()                             # create a vector

      for(i in 1:NROW(ls())){ # repeat over all objects in environment
        if(class(get(ls()[i]))!="function"){ # if object is *not* a function
         remove_list=c(remove_list,ls()[i])     # ..add to vector remove_list
         }
      }

    rm(list=remove_list) # remove all objects named in remove_list

Notes-

The argument "list" in rm(list=) must be a character vector.

The name of an object in position i of the current environment is returned from ls()[i] and the object itself from get(ls()[i]). Therefore the class of an object is returned from class(get(ls()[i]))

How can I obtain the element-wise logical NOT of a pandas Series?

Passing parameters to addTarget:action:forControlEvents

As there are many ways mentioned here for the solution, Except category feature .

Use the category feature to extend defined(built-in) element into your customisable element.

For instance(ex) :

@interface UIButton (myData)

@property (strong, nonatomic) id btnData;

@end

in the your view Controller.m

 #import "UIButton+myAppLists.h"

UIButton *myButton = // btn intialisation....
 [myButton set btnData:@"my own Data"];
[myButton addTarget:self action:@selector(buttonClicked:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];

Event handler:

-(void)buttonClicked : (UIButton*)sender{
    NSLog(@"my Data %@", sender. btnData);
}

AttributeError: Can only use .dt accessor with datetimelike values

Your problem here is that to_datetime silently failed so the dtype remained as str/object, if you set param errors='coerce' then if the conversion fails for any particular string then those rows are set to NaT.

df['Date'] = pd.to_datetime(df['Date'], errors='coerce')

So you need to find out what is wrong with those specific row values.

SQL Server Operating system error 5: "5(Access is denied.)"

This is Windows related issue where SQL Server does not have the appropriate permission to the folder that contains .bak file and hence this error.

The easiest work around is to copy your .bak file to default SQL backup location which has all the necessary permissions. You do not need to fiddle with anything else. In SQL SERVER 2012, this location is

D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup (SQL 2012)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup (SQL 2014)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL13.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Backup (SQL 2016)

Selectors in Objective-C?

That's because you want @selector(lowercaseString), not @selector(lowercaseString:). There's a subtle difference: the second one implies a parameter (note the colon at the end), but - [NSString lowercaseString] does not take a parameter.

WPF: simple TextBox data binding

Just for future needs.

In Visual Studio 2013 with .NET Framework 4.5, for a window property, try adding ElementName=window to make it work.

<Grid Name="myGrid" Height="437.274">

endsWith in JavaScript

From developer.mozilla.org String.prototype.endsWith()

Summary

The endsWith() method determines whether a string ends with the characters of another string, returning true or false as appropriate.

Syntax

str.endsWith(searchString [, position]);

Parameters

  • searchString : The characters to be searched for at the end of this string.

  • position : Search within this string as if this string were only this long; defaults to this string's actual length, clamped within the range established by this string's length.

Description

This method lets you determine whether or not a string ends with another string.

Examples

var str = "To be, or not to be, that is the question.";

alert( str.endsWith("question.") );  // true
alert( str.endsWith("to be") );      // false
alert( str.endsWith("to be", 19) );  // true

Main differences between SOAP and RESTful web services in Java

REST vs. SOAP

SOAP:

? SOAP is simple object access protocol that run on TCP/UDP/SMTP.
? SOAP read and write request response messages in XML format.
? SOAP uses interface in order to define the services.
? SOAP is more secure as it has its own security and well defined standards.
? SOAP follows RPC and Document style to define web services.
? SOAP uses SOAP-UI as client tools for testing.

REST

? REST is representational state transfer that uses underlying HTTP protocols.
? REST is stateless.
? REST is an architectural style that is used to describe and define web services.
? REST can read and write request response messages in JSON/XML/Plain HTML.
? REST uses URI for each resource that is used in web service.A resource can be image text method etc.
? REST uses set of verbs, like HTTP's GET, POST, PUT, DELETE.
? REST is easy to develop and easy to manage as compared to SOAP UI.
? REST has light-weight client tools or plugins that can easily be integrated inside a browser.
? REST services are cacheable.

AngularJS - convert dates in controller

var date1=new Date(item);

and then date1 is a Date.

In Java, can you modify a List while iterating through it?

Use CopyOnWriteArrayList
and if you want to remove it, do the following:

for (Iterator<String> it = userList.iterator(); it.hasNext() ;)
{
    if (wordsToRemove.contains(word))
    {
        it.remove();
    }
}

df$y <- 2 + 3 * df$x + rnorm(100, sd = 40)
p <- ggplot(data = df, aes(x = x, y = y)) +
        geom_smooth(method = "lm", se=FALSE, color="black", formula = y ~ x) +
        geom_point()+
        stat_cor(label.y = 35)+ #this means at 35th unit in the y axis, the r squared and p value will be shown
        stat_regline_equation(label.y = 30) #this means at 30th unit regresion line equation will be shown

File path issues in R using Windows ("Hex digits in character string" error)

My Solution is to define an RStudio snippet as follows:

snippet pp
    "`r gsub("\\\\", "\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\", readClipboard())`"

This snippet converts backslashes \ into double backslashes \\. The following version will work if you prefer to convert backslahes to forward slashes /.

snippet pp
    "`r gsub("\\\\", "/", readClipboard())`"

Once your preferred snippet is defined, paste a path from the clipboard by typing p-p-TAB-ENTER (that is pp and then the tab key and then enter) and the path will be magically inserted with R friendly delimiters.

Which port we can use to run IIS other than 80?

I'm going to make a few assumptions and come at the problem from a different angle... in that because you have skype installed and running on the same machine, that it is not a production machine and instead used for testing / development?

If so, you may wish to look at alternatives to IIS completely to alleviate your issue. If you use IISExpress or the web server built into recent versions of Visual Studio, they will automatically pick a port for you.

Of course this does mean that it's not particularly useful for giving other people access, but is fine for local development for personal use.

I think the other answers probably offer a better alternative in most situations, but this may offer a different insight.

Here is an intro to IIS Express: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/860/iis-express/

From Arraylist to Array

One approach would be to add the Second for Loop where the printing is being done inside the first for loop. Like this:

static String[] SENTENCE;

public static void main(String []args) throws Exception{

   Scanner sentence = new Scanner(new File("assets/blah.txt"));
   ArrayList<String> sentenceList = new ArrayList<String>();

   while (sentence.hasNextLine())
   {
       sentenceList.add(sentence.nextLine());
   }

   sentence.close();

   String[] sentenceArray = sentenceList.toArray(new String[sentenceList.size()]);
  // System.out.println(sentenceArray.length);
   for (int r=0;r<sentenceArray.length;r++)
   {
       SENTENCE = sentenceArray[r].split("(?<=[.!?])\\s*"); //split sentences and store in array

       for (int i=0;i<SENTENCE.length;i++)
       {
           System.out.println("Sentence " + (i+1) + ": " + SENTENCE[i]);
       }
   }

}

What is deserialize and serialize in JSON?

Explanation of Serialize and Deserialize using Python

In python, pickle module is used for serialization. So, the serialization process is called pickling in Python. This module is available in Python standard library.

Serialization using pickle

import pickle

#the object to serialize
example_dic={1:"6",2:"2",3:"f"}

#where the bytes after serializing end up at, wb stands for write byte
pickle_out=open("dict.pickle","wb")
#Time to dump
pickle.dump(example_dic,pickle_out)
#whatever you open, you must close
pickle_out.close()

The PICKLE file (can be opened by a text editor like notepad) contains this (serialized data):

€}q (KX 6qKX 2qKX fqu.

Deserialization using pickle

import pickle

pickle_in=open("dict.pickle","rb")
get_deserialized_data_back=pickle.load(pickle_in)

print(get_deserialized_data_back)

Output:

{1: '6', 2: '2', 3: 'f'}

How to start Activity in adapter?

First Solution:

You can call start activity inside your adapter like this:

public class YourAdapter extends Adapter {
     private Context context;

     public YourAdapter(Context context) {
          this.context = context;
     }

     public View getView(...){
         View v;
         v.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
             void onClick() {
                 context.startActivity(...);
             }
         });
     }
}

Second Solution:

You can call onClickListener of your button out of the YourAdapter class. Follow these steps:

Craete an interface like this:

public YourInterface{
         public void  yourMethod(args...);
}

Then inside your adapter:

    public YourAdapter extends BaseAdapter{
               private YourInterface listener;

           public YourAdapter (Context context, YourInterface listener){
                    this.listener = listener;
                    this.context = context;
           }

           public View getView(...){
                View v;
         v.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() {
             void onClick() {
                 listener.yourMethod(args);
             }
         });
}

And where you initiate yourAdapter will be like this:

YourAdapter adapter = new YourAdapter(getContext(), (args) -> {
            startActivity(...);
        });

How do I copy the contents of one ArrayList into another?

Here is a workaround to copy all the objects from one arrayList to another:

 ArrayList<Object> myObject = new ArrayList<Object>();
ArrayList<Object> myTempObject = new ArrayList<Object>();

myObject.addAll(myTempObject.subList(0, myTempObject.size()));

subList is intended to return a List with a range of data. so you can copy the whole arrayList or part of it.

Given a view, how do I get its viewController?

From the UIResponder documentation for nextResponder:

The UIResponder class does not store or set the next responder automatically, instead returning nil by default. Subclasses must override this method to set the next responder. UIView implements this method by returning the UIViewController object that manages it (if it has one) or its superview (if it doesn’t); UIViewController implements the method by returning its view’s superview; UIWindow returns the application object, and UIApplication returns nil.

So, if you recurse a view’s nextResponder until it is of type UIViewController, then you have any view’s parent viewController.

Note that it still may not have a parent view controller. But only if the view has not part of a viewController’s view’s view hierarchy.

Swift 3 and Swift 4.1 extension:

extension UIView {
    var parentViewController: UIViewController? {
        var parentResponder: UIResponder? = self
        while parentResponder != nil {
            parentResponder = parentResponder?.next
            if let viewController = parentResponder as? UIViewController {
                return viewController
            }
        }
        return nil
    }
}

Swift 2 extension:

extension UIView {
    var parentViewController: UIViewController? {
        var parentResponder: UIResponder? = self
        while parentResponder != nil {
            parentResponder = parentResponder!.nextResponder()
            if let viewController = parentResponder as? UIViewController {
                return viewController
            }
        }
        return nil
    }
}

Objective-C category:

@interface UIView (mxcl)
- (UIViewController *)parentViewController;
@end

@implementation UIView (mxcl)
- (UIViewController *)parentViewController {
    UIResponder *responder = self;
    while ([responder isKindOfClass:[UIView class]])
        responder = [responder nextResponder];
    return (UIViewController *)responder;
}
@end

This macro avoids category pollution:

#define UIViewParentController(__view) ({ \
    UIResponder *__responder = __view; \
    while ([__responder isKindOfClass:[UIView class]]) \
        __responder = [__responder nextResponder]; \
    (UIViewController *)__responder; \
})

How do I write a custom init for a UIView subclass in Swift?

Here is how I do it on iOS 9 in Swift -

import UIKit

class CustomView : UIView {

    init() {
        super.init(frame: UIScreen.mainScreen().bounds);

        //for debug validation
        self.backgroundColor = UIColor.blueColor();
        print("My Custom Init");

        return;
    }

    required init?(coder aDecoder: NSCoder) { fatalError("init(coder:) has not been implemented"); }
}

Installed Java 7 on Mac OS X but Terminal is still using version 6

In case if you have several Java versions on your machine and you want to choose it dynamically at runtime, i.e, in my case, I have two versions:

ls -la /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines
drwxr-xr-x  3 root  wheel    96B Nov 16  2014 jdk1.7.0_71.jdk/
drwxr-xr-x  3 root  wheel    96B Mar  1  2015 jdk1.8.0_31.jdk/

You can change them by modifying the /etc/profile content. Just add (or modify) the following two lines at the end of the file:

export JAVA_HOME=YOUR_JAVA_PATH/Contents/Home
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH

In my case, it should be like the following if I want to use:

Java 7:

export JAVA_HOME=/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.7.0_71.jdk/Contents/Home
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH

Java 8:

export JAVA_HOME=/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_31.jdk/Contents/Home
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH

After saving the file, please run source /etc/profile and it should work. Here are results when I use the first and second option accordingly:

Java 7:

java -version
java version "1.7.0_71"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_71-b14)

Java 8:

java -version
java version "1.8.0_31"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_31-b13)

The process is similar if your java folder is located in different locations.

Create a basic matrix in C (input by user !)

How about the following?

First ask the user for the number of rows and columns, store that in say, nrows and ncols (i.e. scanf("%d", &nrows);) and then allocate memory for a 2D array of size nrows x ncols. Thus you can have a matrix of a size specified by the user, and not fixed at some dimension you've hardcoded!

Then store the elements with for(i = 0;i < nrows; ++i) ... and display the elements in the same way except you throw in newlines after every row, i.e.

for(i = 0; i < nrows; ++i)
{
   for(j = 0; j < ncols ; ++j)
   {
      printf("%d\t",mat[i][j]);
   }
printf("\n");
}

Mercurial — revert back to old version and continue from there

I'd install Tortoise Hg (a free GUI for Mercurial) and use that. You can then just right-click on a revision you might want to return to - with all the commit messages there in front of your eyes - and 'Revert all files'. Makes it intuitive and easy to roll backwards and forwards between versions of a fileset, which can be really useful if you are looking to establish when a problem first appeared.

What does it mean when Statement.executeUpdate() returns -1?

For executeUpdate statements against a DB2 for z/OS server, the value that is returned depends on the type of SQL statement that is being executed:

For an SQL statement that can have an update count, such as an INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE statement, the returned value is the number of affected rows. It can be:

A positive number, if a positive number of rows are affected by the operation, and the operation is not a mass delete on a segmented table space.

0, if no rows are affected by the operation.

-1, if the operation is a mass delete on a segmented table space.

For a DB2 CALL statement, a value of -1 is returned, because the DB2 database server cannot determine the number of affected rows. Calls to getUpdateCount or getMoreResults for a CALL statement also return -1. For any other SQL statement, a value of -1 is returned.

There are No resources that can be added or removed from the server

remove item from stored array in angular 2

Sometimes, splice is not enough especially if your array is involved in a FILTER logic. So, first of all you could check if your element does exist to be absolute sure to remove that exact element:

if (array.find(x => x == element)) {
   array.splice(array.findIndex(x => x == element), 1);
}

Get the Query Executed in Laravel 3/4

Laravel 4+

In Laravel 4 and later, you have to call DB::getQueryLog() to get all ran queries.

$queries = DB::getQueryLog();
$last_query = end($queries);

Or you can download a profiler package. I'd recommend barryvdh/laravel-debugbar, which is pretty neat. You can read for instructions on how to install in their repository.

Note for Laravel 5 users: You'll need to call DB::enableQueryLog() before executing the query. Either just above the line that runs the query or inside a middleware.

Laravel 3

In Laravel 3, you can get the last executed query from an Eloquent model calling the static method last_query on the DB class.

DB::last_query();

This, however, requires that you enable the profiler option in application/config/database.php. Alternatively you could, as @dualed mentioned, enable the profiler option, in application/config/application.php or call DB::profile() to get all queries ran in the current request and their execution time.

Removing the password from a VBA project

This has a simple method using SendKeys to unprotect the VBA project. This would get you into the project, so you'd have to continue on using SendKeys to figure out a way to remove the password protection: http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-989191.php

And here's one that uses a more advanced, somewhat more reliable method for unprotecting. Again, it will only unlock the VB project for you. http://www.ozgrid.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13006&page=2

I haven't tried either method, but this may save you some time if it's what you need to do...

$userSID = $userLogin.Translate([System.Security.Principal.SecurityIdentifier])

<# We will open HKEY_USERS and with accurate user’s SID from remoteComputer #>
$remoteRegistry = [Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey]::OpenRemoteBaseKey(‘Users’,”remoteComputer“)

<# We will then retrieve LocalName value from Control Panel / International subkeys #>

$key = $userSID.value+”\Control Panel\International”
$openKey = $remoteRegistry.OpenSubKey($key)

<# We can now retrieve any values #>

$localName = $openKey.GetValue(‘LocaleName’)

Just subclass UITextField like this (Swift version):

import UIKit

class CustomTextField: UITextField {

    override func textRectForBounds(bounds: CGRect) -> CGRect {
       return CGRectInset(bounds, 25.0, 0)
    }

    override func editingRectForBounds(bounds: CGRect) -> CGRect {

    }

}

This adds horizontal padding of 25.0 points either side.

How to Determine the Screen Height and Width in Flutter

Getting width is easy but height can be tricky, following are the ways to deal with height

// Full screen width and height
double width = MediaQuery.of(context).size.width;
double height = MediaQuery.of(context).size.height;

// Height (without SafeArea)
var padding = MediaQuery.of(context).padding;
double height1 = height - padding.top - padding.bottom;

// Height (without status bar)
double height2 = height - padding.top;

// Height (without status and toolbar)
double height3 = height - padding.top - kToolbarHeight;

How to copy files from host to Docker container?

The solution is given below,

From the Docker shell,

root@123abc:/root# <-- get the container ID

From the host

cp thefile.txt /var/lib/docker/devicemapper/mnt/123abc<bunch-o-hex>/rootfs/root

The file shall be directly copied to the location where the container sits on the filesystem.

Sort a Map<Key, Value> by values

Using Guava library:

public static <K,V extends Comparable<V>>SortedMap<K,V> sortByValue(Map<K,V> original){
    var comparator = Ordering.natural()
            .reverse() // highest first
            .nullsLast()
            .onResultOf(Functions.forMap(original, null))
            .compound(Ordering.usingToString());
    return ImmutableSortedMap.copyOf(original, comparator);
}

HTML5 iFrame Seamless Attribute

Still at 2014 seamless iframe is not fully supported by all of the major browsers, so you should look for an alternative solution.

By January 2014 seamless iframe is still not supported for Firefox neither IE 11, and it's supported by Chrome, Safari and Opera (the webkit version)

If you wanna check this and more supported options in detail, the HTML5 test site would be a good option:

http://html5test.com/results/desktop.html

You can check different platforms, at the score section you can click every browser and see what's supported and what's not.
