An Apple fetched results controller is used to efficiently manage the results returned from a Core Data fetch request to provide data usually for a UITableView or UICollectionView object. It is available in iOS 3.0 and later.

Performance differences between ArrayList and LinkedList

In a LinkedList the elements have a reference to the element before and after it. In an ArrayList the data structure is just an array.

  1. A LinkedList needs to iterate over N elements to get the Nth element. An ArrayList only needs to return element N of the backing array.

  2. The backing array needs to either be reallocated for the new size and the array copied over or every element after the deleted element needs to be moved up to fill the empty space. A LinkedList just needs to set the previous reference on the element after the removed to the one before the removed and the next reference on the element before the removed element to the element after the removed element. Longer to explain, but faster to do.

  3. Same reason as deletion here.

CSS Vertical align does not work with float

Vertical alignment doesn't work with floated elements, indeed. That's because float lifts the element from the normal flow of the document. You might want to use other vertical aligning techniques, like the ones based on transform, display: table, absolute positioning, line-height, js (last resort maybe) or even the plain old html table (maybe the first choice if the content is actually tabular). You'll find that there's a heated debate on this issue.

There are a couple of things that you can do:

Use Internet Explorer 11
You will find that in Windows 10 you will already have Internet Explorer 11 installed. IE 11 continues to support NPAPI (incl Java Applets). IE11 is squirrelled away (c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe). Just pin this exe to your task bar for easy access.

Use FireFox
You can also install and use a Firefox 32-bit Extended Support Release in Win10. Firefox have disabled NPAPI by default, but this can be overridden. This will only be supported until early 2018.

You should note that this is not necessarily the best design pattern. From the looks of it, you are essentially using your App Delegate to store what amounts to a global variable.

Matt Gallagher covered the issue of globals well in his Cocoa with Love article at http://cocoawithlove.com/2008/11/singletons-appdelegates-and-top-level.html. In all likelyhood, your ClassA should be a singleton rather than a global in the AppDelegate, although its possible you intent ClassA to be more general purpose and not simply a singleton. In that case, you'd probably be better off with either a class method to return a pre-configured instance of Class A, something like:

If you want to set environment variables permanently in Git-Bash, you have two options:

  1. Set a regular Windows environment variable. Git-bash gets all existing Windows environment variables at startupp.

  2. Set up env variables in .bash_profile file.

.bash_profile is by default located in a user home folder, like C:\users\userName\git-home\.bash_profile. You can change the path to the bash home folder by setting HOME Windows environment variable.

UPDATE: While reading Mark Rotteveel's answer, I tend to agree with him, assuming that -1 is the JDBC-compliant value for "unknown update counts". In this very case, it could be said that an IF .. INSERT .. statement will have an "unknown update count", as this statement isn't SQL-standard compliant anyway.

Explanation:

  1. The first log outputs super.name, this refers to the prototype chain of the object tom, not the object tom self. Because we have added a name property on the Animal.prototype, horseee will be outputted.
  2. The second log outputs this.name, the this keyword refers to the the tom object itself.
  3. The third log is logged using the move method of the Animal base class. This method is called from Horse class move method with the syntax super.move(45);. Using the super keyword in this context will look for a move method on the prototype chain which is found on the Animal prototype.

Remember TS still uses prototypes under the hood and the class and extends keywords are just syntactic sugar over prototypical inheritance.

grep for special characters in Unix

Try vi with the -b option, this will show special end of line characters (I typically use it to see windows line endings in a txt file on a unix OS)

But if you want a scripted solution obviously vi wont work so you can try the -f or -e options with grep and pipe the result into sed or awk. From grep man page:

If you really need to go this way, then this is what you can do. There are probably better ways of doing it, but this is all that I have at the moment. I did no database calls, I just used dummy data. Please modify the code to fit in with your scenario. I used jQuery to populate the HTML table.

In my controller I have the an action method called GetEmployees that returns a JSON result with all the employees. This is where you would call your repository to return the users from a database:

Simulate a specific CURL in PostMan

I tried the approach mentioned by Onkaar Singh,

  1. Open POSTMAN
  2. Click on "import" tab on the upper left side.
  3. Select the Raw Text option and paste your cURL command.
  4. Hit import and you will have the command in your Postman builder!

But the problem is it didn't work for the Apis which requires authorisation.

This was my curl request:

After importing the body got imported correctly, the headers and the Url also got imported. Only the api key 9f4d7f5445e7 which is

The way I solved it is, -u is basically used for Authorization. So while using it in Postman, you have to take the API key (which is 9f4d7f5445e7 in this case) and do Base64 Encode. Once encoded it will return the value OWY0ZDdmNTQ0NWU3. Then add a new header, the key name would be Authorization and key value would be Basic OWY0ZDdmNTQ0NWU3. After making that changes, the request worked for me.

There are online Base64 Encoders available, the one I used is http://www.url-encode-decode.com/base64-encode-decode/

How to completely hide the navigation bar in iPhone / HTML5

Remy Sharp has a good description of the process in his article "Doing it right: skipping the iPhone url bar":

Making the iPhone hide the url bar is fairly simple, you need run the following JavaScript:

window.scrollTo(0, 1); 

However there's the question of when? You have to do this once the height is correct so that the iPhone can scroll to the first pixel of the document, otherwise it will try, then the height will load forcing the url bar back in to view.

You could wait until the images have loaded and the window.onload event fires, but this doesn't always work, if everything is cached, the event fires too early and the scrollTo never has a chance to jump. Here's an example using window.onload: http://jsbin.com/edifu4/4/

I personally use a timer for 1 second - which is enough time on a mobile device while you wait to render, but long enough that it doesn't fire too early:

Seems like a connection issue. You can use the Data link properties to find if the connection is fine. Do the following:

  1. Create a blank notepad and rename it to "X.UDL"
  2. Double click to open it
  3. Under connections tab choose the server name/enter the name use the correct credentials and DB
  4. Click OK to save it.

Now open the file in Notepad and compare the connection string properties.

Why don't self-closing script elements work?

The people above have already pretty much explained the issue, but one thing that might make things clear is that, though people use <br/> and such all the time in HTML documents, any / in such a position is basically ignored, and only used when trying to make something both parseable as XML and HTML. Try <p/>foo</p>, for example, and you get a regular paragraph.

Using static defaultProps is correct. You should also be using interfaces, not classes, for the props and state.

Update 2018/12/1: TypeScript has improved the type-checking related to defaultProps over time. Read on for latest and greatest usage down to older usages and issues.

For TypeScript 3.0 and up

TypeScript specifically added support for defaultProps to make type-checking work how you'd expect. Example:

Think of it similar to how you can mark a function parameter optional, or with a default value, but not both, yet both mean the call doesn't need to specify a value. TypeScript 3.0+ treats defaultProps in a similar way, which is really cool for React users!
  • The defaultProps has no explicit type annotation. Its type is inferred and used by the compiler to determine which JSX attributes are required. You could use defaultProps: Pick<PageProps, "foo"> to ensure defaultProps matches a sub-set of PageProps. More on this caveat is explained here.
  • This requires @types/react version 16.4.11 to work properly.

For TypeScript 2.1 until 3.0

Before TypeScript 3.0 implemented compiler support for defaultProps you could still make use of it, and it worked 100% with React at runtime, but since TypeScript only considered props when checking for JSX attributes you'd have to mark props that have defaults as optional with ?. Example:

  • When using strictNullChecks the value of this.props.foo will be possibly undefined and require a non-null assertion (ie this.props.foo!) or type-guard (ie if (this.props.foo) ...) to remove undefined. This is annoying since the default prop value means it actually will never be undefined, but TS didn't understand this flow. That's one of the main reasons TS 3.0 added explicit support for defaultProps.

Before TypeScript 2.1

This works the same but you don't have Partial types, so just omit Partial<> and either supply default values for all required props (even though those defaults will never be used) or omit the explicit type annotation completely.

Default props with Functional Components

You can use defaultProps on function components as well, but you have to type your function to the FunctionComponent (StatelessComponent in @types/react before version 16.7.2) interface so that TypeScript knows about defaultProps on the function:

Java Try Catch Finally blocks without Catch

The finally block is always run after the try block ends, whether try ends normally or abnormally due to an exception, er, throwable.

If an exception is thrown by any of the code within the try block, then the current method simply re-throws (or continues to throw) the same exception (after running the finally block).

If the finally block throws an exception / error / throwable, and there is already a pending throwable, it gets ugly. Quite frankly, I forget exactly what happens (so much for my certification years ago). I think both throwables get linked together, but there is some special voodoo you have to do (i.e. - a method call I would have to look up) to get the original problem before the "finally" barfed, er, threw up.

Incidentally, try/finally is a pretty common thing to do for resource management, since java has no destructors.

E.g. -

"Finally", one more tip: if you do bother to put in a catch, either catch specific (expected) throwable subclasses, or just catch "Throwable", not "Exception", for a general catch-all error trap. catch ( Exception e) ...  // doesn't really catch *all*, eh?

Facebook Graph API v2.0+ - /me/friends returns empty, or only friends who also use my application

Although Simon Cross's answer is accepted and correct, I thought I would beef it up a bit with an example (Android) of what needs to be done. I'll keep it as general as I can and focus on just the question. Personally I wound up storing things in a database so the loading was smooth, but that requires a CursorAdapter and ContentProvider which is a bit out of scope here.

I came here myself and then thought, now what?!

The Issue

Just like user3594351, I was noticing the friend data was blank. I found this out by using the FriendPickerFragment. What worked three months ago, no longer works. Even Facebook's examples broke. So my issue was 'How Do I create FriendPickerFragment by hand?

What Did Not Work

Option #1 from Simon Cross was not strong enough to invite friends to the app. Simon Cross also recommended the Requests Dialog, but that would only allow five requests at a time. The requests dialog also showed the same friends during any given Facebook logged in session. Not useful.

What Worked (Summary)

Option #2 with some hard work. You must make sure you fulfill Facebook's new rules: 1.) You're a game 2.) You have a Canvas app (Web Presence) 3.) Your app is registered with Facebook. It is all done on the Facebook developer website under Settings.

To emulate the friend picker by hand inside my app I did the following:

  1. Create a tab activity that shows two fragments. Each fragment shows a list. One fragment for available friend (/me/friends) and another for invitable friends (/me/invitable_friends). Use the same fragment code to render both tabs.
  2. Create an AsyncTask that will get the friend data from Facebook. Once that data is loaded, toss it to the adapter which will render the values to the screen.

I am working on an angular js app, andhavecome across a similar issue. What i did was display the image from the db, then created a button to remove or keep the current image. If the user decided to keep the current image, i changed the ng-submit attribute to another function whihc doesnt require image validation, and updated the record in the db without touching the original image path name. The remove image function also changed the ng-submit attribute value back to a function that submits the form and includes image validation and upload. Also a bit of javascript to slide the into view to upload a new image.

and input them directly into the SQL query as this makes prone to SQL inject via the search bar. You will have to escape the characters first in case they try something funny like: "--; DROP TABLE name;

In python, for loops iterate over iterables, instead of incrementing a counter, so you have a couple choices. Using a skip flag like Artsiom recommended is one way to do it. Another option is to make a generator from your range and manually advance it by discarding an element using next().

But this isn't quite complete because next() might throw a StopIteration if it reaches the end of the range, so you have to add some logic to detect that and break out of the outer loop if that happens.

When I were trying install librosa package with pip (pip install librosa), this error were appeared:

ERROR: Cannot uninstall 'llvmlite'. It is a distutils installed project and thus we cannot accurately determine which files belong to it which would lead to only a partial uninstall.

I tried to remove llvmlite, but pip uninstall could not remove it. So, I used capability of ignore of pip by this code:

Let's pretend you want to live in the immutable world and do NOT want to modify the original but want to create a new dict that is the result of adding a new key to the original.

In Python 3.5+ you can do:

params = {'a': 1, 'b': 2}
new_params = {**params, **{'c': 3}}

The Python 2 equivalent is:

params = {'a': 1, 'b': 2}
new_params = dict(params, **{'c': 3})

After either of these:

params is still equal to {'a': 1, 'b': 2}

and

new_params is equal to {'a': 1, 'b': 2, 'c': 3}

There will be times when you don't want to modify the original (you only want the result of adding to the original). I find this a refreshing alternative to the following:

GOOGLEFINANCE can have a 20 minutes delay, so refreshing every minute would not really help.

Instead of GOOGLEFINANCE you can use different source. I'm using this RealTime stock prices(I tried a couple but this is the easiest by-far to implement. They have API that retuen JSON { Name: CurrentPrice }

Explanation:

  • It is much more practical to explicitly define the return type than simply declaring it as record. This way you don't have to provide a column definition list with every function call. RETURNS TABLE is one way to do that. There are others. Data types of OUT parameters have to match exactly what is returned by the query.

  • Choose names for OUT parameters carefully. They are visible in the function body almost anywhere. Table-qualify columns of the same name to avoid conflicts or unexpected results. I did that for all columns in my example.

    But note the potential naming conflict between the OUT parameter cnt and the column alias of the same name. In this particular case (RETURN QUERY SELECT ...) Postgres uses the column alias over the OUT parameter either way. This can be ambiguous in other contexts, though. There are various ways to avoid any confusion:

    1. Use the ordinal position of the item in the SELECT list: ORDER BY 2 DESC. Example:
    2. Repeat the expression ORDER BY count(*).
    3. (Not applicable here.) Set the configuration parameter plpgsql.variable_conflict or use the special command #variable_conflict error | use_variable | use_column in the function. See:
  • Don't use "text" or "count" as column names. Both are legal to use in Postgres, but "count" is a reserved word in standard SQL and a basic function name and "text" is a basic data type. Can lead to confusing errors. I use txt and cnt in my examples.

  • Added a missing ; and corrected a syntax error in the header. (_max_tokens int), not (int maxTokens) - type after name.

  • While working with integer division, it's better to multiply first and divide later, to minimize the rounding error. Even better: work with numeric (or a floating point type). See below.

The expression sum(t.cnt) OVER () is a window function. You could use a CTE instead of the subquery - pretty, but a subquery is typically cheaper in simple cases like this one.

A final explicit RETURN statement is not required (but allowed) when working with OUT parameters or RETURNS TABLE (which makes implicit use of OUT parameters).

round() with two parameters only works for numeric types. count() in the subquery produces a bigint result and a sum() over this bigint produces a numeric result, thus we deal with a numeric number automatically and everything just falls into place.
