Issue tracking refers to managing of tasks and problems in (software) project.

How can I reference a commit in an issue comment on GitHub?

If you are trying to reference a commit in another repo than the issue is in, you can prefix the commit short hash with reponame@.

Suppose your commit is in the repo named dev, and the GitLab issue is in the repo named test. You can leave a comment on the issue and reference the commit by dev@e9c11f0a (where e9c11f0a is the first 8 letters of the sha hash of the commit you want to link to) if that makes sense.

Convert double to float in Java

The problem is, your value cannot be stored accurately in single precision floating point type. Proof:

Another thing is: you don't get "2.3423424666767E13", it's just the visual representation of the number stored in memory. "How you print out" and "what is in memory" are two distinct things. Example above shows you how to print the number as float, which avoids scientific notation you were getting.

AttributeError: 'datetime' module has no attribute 'strptime'

Use the correct call: strptime is a classmethod of the datetime.datetime class, it's not a function in the datetime module.

As mentioned by Jon Clements in the comments, some people do from datetime import datetime, which would bind the datetime name to the datetime class, and make your initial code work.

To identify which case you're facing (in the future), look at your import statements

  • import datetime: that's the module (that's what you have right now).
  • from datetime import datetime: that's the class.

How do I deserialize a JSON string into an NSDictionary? (For iOS 5+)

With Swift 3 and Swift 4, String has a method called data(using:allowLossyConversion:). data(using:allowLossyConversion:) has the following declaration:

func data(using encoding: String.Encoding, allowLossyConversion: Bool = default) -> Data?

Returns a Data containing a representation of the String encoded using a given encoding.

With Swift 4, String's data(using:allowLossyConversion:) can be used in conjunction with JSONDecoder's decode(_:from:) in order to deserialize a JSON string into a dictionary.

Furthermore, with Swift 3 and Swift 4, String's data(using:allowLossyConversion:) can also be used in conjunction with JSONSerialization's json?Object(with:?options:?) in order to deserialize a JSON string into a dictionary.

With Swift 4, JSONDecoder has a method called decode(_:from:). decode(_:from:) has the following declaration:

Decodes a top-level value of the given type from the given JSON representation.

Howto? Parameters and LIKE statement SQL

Sometimes the symbol used as a placeholder % is not the same if you execute a query from VB as when you execute it from MS SQL / Access. Try changing your placeholder symbol from % to *. That might work.
However, if you debug and want to copy your SQL string directly in MS SQL or Access to test it, you may have to change the symbol back to % in MS SQL or Access in order to actually return values.

GetElementByID - Multiple IDs

As stated by jfriend00,

document.getElementById() only supports one name at a time and only returns a single node not an array of nodes.

Composer: The requested PHP extension ext-intl * is missing from your system

PHP uses a different php.ini for command line php than for the web/apache php. So you see the intl extension in phpinfo() in the browser, but if you run php -m in the command line you might see that the list of extensions there does not include intl.

You can check using php -i on top of the output it should tell you where the ini file is loaded from. Make sure you enable the intl extension in that ini file and you should be good to go.

For php.ini 5.6 version (check version using php -v)

Just a guess what does the variable json contain after

If it is a valid json object like {'foo':'foovalue', 'bar':'barvalue'} then jQuery might not send it as json data but instead serialize it to foor=foovalue&bar=barvalue thus you get the error "Invalid JSON primitive: foo"

Try instead setting the data as string

This way jQuery should leave the data alone and send the string as is to the server which should allow ASP.NET to parse the json server side.

The error means that your are trying to look up JNDI name, that is not attached to any EJB component - the component with that name does not exist.

As far as dir structure is concerned: you have to create a JAR file with EJB components. As I understand you want to play with EJB 2.X components (at least the linked example suggests that) so the structure of the JAR file should be:

/com/mypackage/MyEJB.class /com/mypackage/MyEJBInterface.class /com/mypackage/etc... etc... java classes /META-INF/ejb-jar.xml /META-INF/jboss.xml

The JAR file is more or less ZIP file with file extension changed from ZIP to JAR.

BTW. If you use JBoss 5, you can work with EJB 3.0, which are much more easier to configure. The simplest component is

You could use the re module's regular expression replacement. Using the ^ expression allows you to pick exactly what you want from your string.

It looks like you are trying to read an object from JSON that actually describes an array. Java objects are mapped to JSON objects with curly braces {} but your JSON actually starts with square brackets [] designating an array.

What you actually have is a List<product> To describe generic types, due to Java's type erasure, you must use a TypeReference. Your deserialization could read: myProduct = objectMapper.readValue(productJson, new TypeReference<List<product>>() {});

A couple of other notes: your classes should always be PascalCased. Your main method can just be public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception which saves you all the useless catch blocks.

In batch, the > is a redirection sign used to output data into a text file. The compare op's available (And recommended) for cmd are below (quoted from the if /? help):

where compare-op may be one of:

    EQU - equal
    NEQ - not equal
    LSS - less than

    GEQ - greater than or equal

That should explain what you want. The only other compare-op is == which can be switched with the if not parameter. Other then that rely on these three letter ones.

Escape double quote in grep

The problem is that you aren't correctly escaping the input string, try:

echo "\"member\":\"time\"" | grep -e "member\""

Alternatively, you can use unescaped double quotes within single quotes:

echo '"member":"time"' | grep -e 'member"'

It's a matter of preference which you find clearer, although the second approach prevents you from nesting your command within another set of single quotes (e.g. ssh 'cmd').

Many folks don't realize that your dependencies chain can become nested, and it quickly becomes unwieldy to wire them up manually. Even with factories, the duplication of your code is just not worth it.

IoC containers can be complex, yes. But for this simple case I've shown it's incredibly easy.


Okay, let's justify this even more. Let's say you have some entities or model objects that you want to bind to a smart UI. This smart UI (we'll call it Shindows Morms) wants you to implement INotifyPropertyChanged so that it can do change tracking & update the UI accordingly.

"OK, that doesn't sound so hard" so you start writing.

You start with this:

That's disgusting plumbing code, and I maintain that if you're writing code like that by hand you're stealing from your client. There are better, smarter way of working.

Ever hear that term, work smarter, not harder?

Well imagine some smart guy on your team came up and said: "Here's an easier way"

If you make your properties virtual (calm down, it's not that big of a deal) then we can weave in that property behavior automatically. (This is called AOP, but don't worry about the name, focus on what it's going to do for you)

Depending on which IoC tool you're using, you could do something that looks like this:

Poof! All of that manual INotifyPropertyChanged BS is now automatically generated for you, on every virtual property setter of the object in question.

Is this magic? YES! If you can trust the fact that this code does its job, then you can safely skip all of that property wrapping mumbo-jumbo. You've got business problems to solve.

  • Declarative & nested database transactions
  • Declarative & nested Unit of work
  • Logging
  • Pre/Post conditions (Design by Contract)

What is 'PermSize' in Java?

A quick definition of the "permanent generation":

"The permanent generation is used to hold reflective data of the VM itself such as class objects and method objects. These reflective objects are allocated directly into the permanent generation, and it is sized independently from the other generations." [ref]

In other words, this is where class definitions go (and this explains why you may get the message OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space if an application loads a large number of classes and/or on redeployment).

Note that PermSize is additional to the -Xmx value set by the user on the JVM options. But MaxPermSize allows for the JVM to be able to grow the PermSize to the amount specified. Initially when the VM is loaded, the MaxPermSize will still be the default value (32mb for -client and 64mb for -server) but will not actually take up that amount until it is needed. On the other hand, if you were to set BOTH PermSize and MaxPermSize to 256mb, you would notice that the overall heap has increased by 256mb additional to the -Xmx setting.

Origin null is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin

You can load a local Javascript file (in the tree below your file:/ source page) using the source tag:

Rotate and translate

The reason is because you are using the transform property twice. Due to CSS rules with the cascade, the last declaration wins if they have the same specificity. As both transform declarations are in the same rule set, this is the case.

What it is doing is this:

  1. rotate the text 90 degrees. Ok.
  2. translate 50% by 50%. Ok, this is same property as step one, so do this step and ignore step 1.

To do this you use a space separated list of transforms:

matches(); does not buffer, but find() buffers. find() searches to the end of the string first, indexes the result, and return the boolean value and corresponding index.

That is why when you have a code like

1:Pattern.compile("[a-z]");

4:while(matcher.find()){

5:count++: }

At 4: The regex engine using the pattern structure will read through the whole of your code (index to index as specified by the regex[single character] to find at least one match. If such match is found, it will be indexed then the loop will execute based on the indexed result else if it didn't do ahead calculation like which matches(); does not. The while statement would never execute since the first character of the matched string is not an alphabet.

If you are not using jQuery then I would simply write a validation method that you can be fired when the form is submitted. The method can validate the text fields to make sure that they are not empty or the default value. The method will return a bool value and if it is false you can fire off your alert and assign classes to highlight the fields that did not pass validation.

The validateForm method assigns the elements you want to validate and then in this case calls the isNotEmpty method to validate if the field is empty or has not been changed from the default value. it continuously calls the inNotEmpty method until it returns a value of true or if the conditional fails for that field it will return false.

Give this a shot and let me know if it helps or if you have any questions. of course you can write additional custom methods to validate numbers only, email address, valid URL, etc.

Late one but gives more details that might be useful…

Here is a list of things you can do with advantages and disadvantages

Generate scripts using SSMS

  • Pros: extremely easy to use and supported by default
  • Cons: scripts might not be in the correct execution order and you might get errors if stored procedure already exists on secondary database. Make sure you review the script before executing.

Third party tools

  • Pros: tools such as ApexSQL Diff (this is what I use but there are many others like tools from Red Gate or Dev Art) will compare two databases in one click and generate script that you can execute immediately
  • Cons: these are not free (most vendors have a fully functional trial though)

System Views

  • Pros: You can easily see which stored procedures exist on secondary server and only generate those you don’t have.
  • Cons: Requires a bit more SQL knowledge

Here is how to get a list of all procedures in some database that don’t exist in another database

PHP has a serialize function provided for this specific purpose. Pass it an array, and it will give you a string representation of it. When you want to convert it back to an array, you just use the unserialize function.

This is often used by lazy coders to save data to a database. Not recommended, but works as a quick/dirty solution.

Addendum

I was under the impression that you were looking for a way to send the data reliably, not "securely". No matter how you pass the data, if it is going through the users system, you cannot trust it at all. Generally, you should store it somewhere on the server & use a credential (cookie, session, password, etc) to look it up.

BULK INSERT with identity (auto-increment) column

Another option, if you're using temporary tables instead of staging tables, could be to create the temporary table as your import expects, then add the identity column after the import.

So your sql does something like this:

  1. If temp table exists, drop
  2. Create temp table
  3. Bulk Import to temp table
  4. Alter temp table add identity
  5. < whatever you want to do with the data >
  6. Drop temp table

Still not very clean, but it's another option... might have to get locks to be safe, too.

Tested on Ubuntu 14.04 with Oracle JDK 1.8.0_45.

So it is clear that it allows you to:

  • call a compiled dynamically loaded library (here written in C) with arbitrary assembly code from Java
  • and get results back into Java

This could be used to:

  • write faster code on a critical section with better CPU assembly instructions (not CPU portable)
  • make direct system calls (not OS portable)

with the tradeoff of lower portability.

Creating executable files in Linux

No need to hack your editor, or switch editors.

Instead we can come up with a script to watch your development directories and chmod files as they're created. This is what I've done in the attached bash script. You probably want to read through the comments and edit the 'config' section as fits your needs, then I would suggest putting it in your $HOME/bin/ directory and adding its execution to your $HOME/.login or similar file. Or you can just run it from the terminal.

Can't comment the last answer but the fix is relatively easy. Just set the background color of your opaque canvas:

Modifying a subset of rows in a pandas dataframe

Use .loc for label based indexing:

df.loc[df.A==0, 'B'] = np.nan

The df.A==0 expression creates a boolean series that indexes the rows, 'B' selects the column. You can also use this to transform a subset of a column, e.g.:

df.loc[df.A==0, 'B'] = df.loc[df.A==0, 'B'] / 2

I don't know enough about pandas internals to know exactly why that works, but the basic issue is that sometimes indexing into a DataFrame returns a copy of the result, and sometimes it returns a view on the original object. According to documentation here, this behavior depends on the underlying numpy behavior. I've found that accessing everything in one operation (rather than [one][two]) is more likely to work for setting.

I say it's the "best answer" because:

  1. It doesn't require complicating your code with UNION's, PIVOT's, UNPIVOT's, UDF's, and crazy-long CASE statments.
  2. It isn't plagued with the problem of handling nulls, it handles them just fine.
  3. It's easy to swap out the "MAX" with "MIN", "AVG", or "SUM". You can use any aggregate function to find the aggregate over many different columns.
  4. You're not limited to the names I used (i.e. "AllPrices" and "Price"). You can pick your own names to make it easier to read and understand for the next guy.
  5. You can find multiple aggregates using SQL Server 2008's derived_tables like so:

Moving Git repository content to another repository preserving history

This worked to move my local repo (including history) to my remote github.com repo. After creating the new empty repo at GitHub.com I use the URL in step three below and it works great.

This is buried in the comments of other answers, but I almost missed it, so it seems like it deserves its own answer.

To review: in order for IE to accept 3rd party cookies, you need serve your files with an http header called p3p in the format:

CP="my compact p3p policy"

BUT, p3p is pretty much dead as a standard at this point and you can easily get IE to work without investing the time and legal resources in creating a real p3p policy. This is because if your compact p3p policy header is invalid, IE actually treats it as a good policy and accepts 3rd party cookies. So you can use a p3p header such as this

CP="This site does not have a p3p policy."

You can optionally include a link to a page that explains why you don't have a p3p policy, as Google and Facebook do (they point here: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/151657 and here: https://www.facebook.com/help/327993273962160/).

Finally, it's important to note that all files served from the 3rd party site need to have the p3p header, not just the one that sets the cookie, so you may not be able to just do this in your PHP, asp.net, etc code. You are probably better off setting in up on the web server level (i.e. in IIS or Apache).

Simply because you don't have c++ compiler installed there in your machine, check the following

  • Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 from this page. That is a generally useful page anyway, so you should probably bookmark it. For Python 3.3+ use MS Visual C++ 2010. Install it.

  • Open Windows explorer (the file browser) and search for the location of ‘vcvarsall.bat’ and cut it to your clipboard.

  • run regedit from the Windows start key. You will need admin privilges.

  • Add a registry entry to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\Setup\VC\ProductDir (64 bit Windows) or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\Setup\VC\ProductDir (32 bit) as described here.

What does a just-in-time (JIT) compiler do?

In the beginning, a compiler was responsible for turning a high-level language (defined as higher level than assembler) into object code (machine instructions), which would then be linked (by a linker) into an executable.

At one point in the evolution of languages, compilers would compile a high-level language into pseudo-code, which would then be interpreted (by an interpreter) to run your program. This eliminated the object code and executables, and allowed these languages to be portable to multiple operating systems and hardware platforms. Pascal (which compiled to P-Code) was one of the first; Java and C# are more recent examples. Eventually the term P-Code was replaced with bytecode, since most of the pseudo-operations are a byte long.

A Just-In-Time (JIT) compiler is a feature of the run-time interpreter, that instead of interpreting bytecode every time a method is invoked, will compile the bytecode into the machine code instructions of the running machine, and then invoke this object code instead. Ideally the efficiency of running object code will overcome the inefficiency of recompiling the program every time it runs.

Handling optional parameters in javascript

I know this is a pretty old question, but I dealt with this recently. Let me know what you think of this solution.

I created a utility that lets me strongly type arguments and let them be optional. You basically wrap your function in a proxy. If you skip an argument, it's undefined. It may get quirky if you have multiple optional arguments with the same type right next to each other. (There are options to pass functions instead of types to do custom argument checks, as well as specifying default values for each parameter.)

This is what the implementation looks like:

Mac OS X - EnvironmentError: mysql_config not found

I am running Python 3.6 on MacOS Catalina. My issue was that I tried to install mysqlclient==1.4.2.post1 and it keeps throwing mysql_config not found error.

This is the steps I took to solve the issue.

  1. Install mysql-connector-c using brew (if you have mysql already install unlink first brew unlink mysql) - brew install mysql-connector-c
  2. Open mysql_config and edit the file around line 112

Using parameter binding is definitely the way to go here. Not only is it very quick to write (just add [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)] above your mandatory parameters), but it's also the only option that you won't hate yourself for later.

[Console]::ReadLine is explicitly forbidden by the FxCop rules for PowerShell. Why? Because it only works in PowerShell.exe, not PowerShell ISE, PowerGUI, etc.

Read-Host is, quite simply, bad form. Read-Host uncontrollably stops the script to prompt the user, which means that you can never have another script that includes the script that uses Read-Host.

You're trying to ask for parameters.

You should use the [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)] attribute, and correct typing, to ask for the parameters.

If you use this on a [SecureString], it will prompt for a password field. If you use this on a Credential type, ([Management.Automation.PSCredential]), the credentials dialog will pop up, if the parameter isn't there. A string will just become a plain old text box. If you add a HelpMessage to the parameter attribute (that is, [Parameter(Mandatory = $true, HelpMessage = 'New User Credentials')]) then it will become help text for the prompt.

Git submodule head 'reference is not a tree' error

In my case, none of answer above solve the problem even thoungh they are good answers. So I post my solution (in my case there are two git clients, client A and B):

  1. go to submodule's dir:

    cd sub
    
  2. checkout to master:

    git checkout master
    
  3. rebase to a commit code which both client can see

  4. go back to the parent's dir:

  5. commit to master

  6. change to the other client, do rebase again.

  7. finally it works fine now! Maybe lose a couple of commits but it works.

  8. FYI, don't try to remove your submodule, it will remain .git/modules there and cannot readd this submodule again, unless reactive local one.

To find the current address of any user, we search for UserData with revision DESC and LIMIT 1

To get the address of a user between a certain period of time we can use created_on bewteen (date1 , date 2)

It's javascript, but it's automatically bound using an html-attribute instead of manually binding it within <script> tags - maybe it does what you want.

Just use HTML anchor tag <a> and start the attribute href with tel:. I suggest starting the phone number with the country code. pay attention to the following example:

This is probably the longest process to make a singleton in typescript, but in larger applications is the one that has worked better for me.

The nice thing about doing singletons this way is that you still use all the beauty of typescript classes, it gives you nice intellisense, the singleton logic keeps someway separated and it's easy to remove if needed.

How to deal with a slow SecureRandom generator?

My experience has been only with slow initialization of the PRNG, not with generation of random data after that. Try a more eager initialization strategy. Since they're expensive to create, treat it like a singleton and reuse the same instance. If there's too much thread contention for one instance, pool them or make them thread-local.

Don't compromise on random number generation. A weakness there compromises all of your security.

I don't see a lot of COTS atomic-decay–based generators, but there are several plans out there for them, if you really need a lot of random data. One site that always has interesting things to look at, including HotBits, is John Walker's Fourmilab.

How can I update window.location.hash without jumping the document?

This solution worked for me.

The problem with setting location.hash is that the page will jump to that id if it's found on the page.

The problem with window.history.pushState is that it adds an entry to the history for each tab the user clicks. Then when the user clicks the back button, they go to the previous tab. (this may or may not be what you want. it was not what I wanted).

For me, replaceState was the better option in that it only replaces the current history, so when the user clicks the back button, they go to the previous page.

  • start tunneling: ssh -N -D 12345 login@proxy_server
  • Setting the proxy in the firefox settings as localhost:12345
    • and ticking "use this proxy for all protocols"

but this resulted in the error "Insecure connection" whenever I tried to connect to an https website.

The solution was to

  • "untick" the "use this proxy for all protocols"
  • set the proxy "localhost:12345" only as a SOCKS proxy
  • and leave the HTTP proxy, SSL proxy, FTP proxy blank

How to change package name in android studio?

In projects that use the Gradle build system, what you want to change is the applicationId in the build.gradle file. The build system uses this value to override anything specified by hand in the manifest file when it does the manifest merge and build.

For example, your module's build.gradle file looks something like this:

One host can be known under many different hostnames. Usually you'll be looking for the hostname your host has in a specific context.

For example, in a web application, you might be looking for the hostname used by whoever issued the request you're currently handling. How to best find that one depends on which framework you're using for your web application.

In some kind of other internet-facing service, you'll want the hostname your service is available through from the 'outside'. Due to proxies, firewalls etc this might not even be a hostname on the machine your service is installed on - you might try to come up with a reasonable default, but you should definitely make this configurable for whoever installs this.

The CPU speed varies due to power saving. I originally noticed this because VMware gave me a helpful tip on my laptop, but this page mentions the same thing:

Does something along these lines exist?

No. With the stl map class, you use ::find() to search the map, and compare the returned iterator to std::map::end()

so

Obviously you can write your own getValue() routine if you want (also in C++, there is no reason to use out), but I would suspect that once you get the hang of using std::map::find() you won't want to waste your time.

Also your code is slightly wrong:

m.find('2'); will search the map for a keyvalue that is '2'. IIRC the C++ compiler will implicitly convert '2' to an int, which results in the numeric value for the ASCII code for '2' which is not what you want.

Since your keytype in this example is int you want to search like this: m.find(2);

How to parse a JSON and turn its values into an Array?

In my test suite, I group my test cases into classes. For the setup and teardown I need for all the test cases in that class, I use the setup_class(cls) and teardown_class(cls) classmethods.

And for the setup and teardown I need for each of the test case, I use the setup_method(method) and teardown_method(methods)

How to mock static methods in c# using MOQ framework?

Moq cannot mock a static member of a class.

When designing code for testability it's important to avoid static members (and singletons). A design pattern that can help you refactoring your code for testability is Dependency Injection.

This means changing this:

This allows you to use a mock from your unit tests. In production you use a Dependency Injection tool like Ninject or Unity wich can wire everything together.

If the image size is variable or the design is responsive, in addition to wrapping the text, you can set a min width for the paragraph to avoid it to become too narrow.
Give an invisible CSS pseudo-element with the desired minimum paragraph width. If there isn't enough space to fit this pseudo-element, then it will be pushed down underneath the image, taking the paragraph with it.

Choose Database | Set Datasource Location... Select the database node (yellow-ish cylinder) of the current connection, then select the database node of the desired connection (you may need to authenticate), then click Update.

You will need to do this for the 'Subreports' nodes as well.

Reading NFC Tags with iPhone 6 / iOS 8

The iPhone6/6s/6+ are NOT designed to read passive NFC tags (aka Discovery Mode). There's a lot of misinformation on this topic, so I thought to provide some tangible info for developers to consider. The lack of NFC tag read support is not because of software but because of hardware. To understand why, you need to understand how NFC works. NFC works by way of Load Modulation. That means that the interrogator (PCD) emits a carrier magnetic field that energizes the passive target (PICC). With the potential generated by this carrier field, the target then is able to demodulate data coming from the interrogator and respond by modulating data over top of this very same field. The key here is that the target never creates a field of its own.

If you look at the iPhone6 teardown and parts list you will see the presence of a very small NFC loop antenna as well as the use of the AS3923 booster IC. This design was intended for custom microSD or SIM cards to enable mobile phones of old to do payments. This is the type of application where the mobile phone presents a Card Emulated credential to a high power contactless POS terminal. The POS terminal acts as the reader, energizing the iPhone6 with help from the AS3923 chip. The AS3923 block diagram clearly shows how the RX and TX modulation is boosted from a signal presented by a reader device. In other words the iPhone6 is not meant to provide a field, only to react to one. That's why it's design is only meant for NFC Card Emulation and perhaps Peer-2-Peer, but definitely not tag Discovery.

There are some alternatives to achieving tag Discovery with an iPhone6 using HW accessories. I talk about these integrations and how developers can architect solutions in this blog post. Our low power reader designs open interesting opportunities for mobile engagement that few developers are thinking about.

How can I stop python.exe from closing immediately after I get an output?

You can't - globally, i.e. for every python program. And this is a good thing - Python is great for scripting (automating stuff), and scripts should be able to run without any user interaction at all.

However, you can always ask for input at the end of your program, effectively keeping the program alive until you press return. Use input("prompt: ") in Python 3 (or raw_input("promt: ") in Python 2). Or get used to running your programs from the command line (i.e. python mine.py), the program will exit but its output remains visible.

force Maven to copy dependencies into target/lib

A simple and elegant solution for the case where one needs to copy the dependencies to a target directory without using any other phases of maven (I found this very useful when working with Vaadin).

This is how I've been doing subqueries in LINQ, I think this should get what you want. You can replace the explicit CompanyRoleId == 2... with another subquery for the different roles you want or join it as well.

ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading authorization packet', system error: 0

I got both errors: mostly reading initial communication packet and reading authorization packet one time. It seems random, but sometimes I was able to establish a connection after reboots, but after some time the error creeped back.

Avoiding the 5GHz WiFi in the client seems to have fixed the issue. That's what worked for me (server was always connected to 2.4GHz).

I tried everything from server versions, odbc connector versions, firewall settings, installing some windows update (and then uninstalling them), some of the answers posted here, etc... lost my entire sleep time for today. Super tired day awaits me.

Classpath including JAR within a JAR

If you're trying to create a single jar that contains your application and its required libraries, there are two ways (that I know of) to do that. The first is One-Jar, which uses a special classloader to allow the nesting of jars. The second is UberJar, (or Shade), which explodes the included libraries and puts all the classes in the top-level jar.

I should also mention that UberJar and Shade are plugins for Maven1 and Maven2 respectively. As mentioned below, you can also use the assembly plugin (which in reality is much more powerful, but much harder to properly configure).

How can I hide the Adobe Reader toolbar when displaying a PDF in the .NET WebBrowser control?

It appears the default setting for Adobe Reader X is for the toolbars not to be shown by default unless they are explicitly turned on by the user. And even when I turn them back on during a session, they don't show up automatically next time. As such, I suspect you have a preference set contrary to the default.

The state you desire, with the top and left toolbars not shown, is called "Read Mode". If you right-click on the document itself, and then click "Page Display Preferences" in the context menu that is shown, you'll be presented with the Adobe Reader Preferences dialog. (This is the same dialog you can access by opening the Adobe Reader application, and selecting "Preferences" from the "Edit" menu.) In the list shown in the left-hand column of the Preferences dialog, select "Internet". Finally, on the right, ensure that you have the "Display in Read Mode by default" box checked:

You can also turn off the toolbars temporarily by clicking the button at the right of the top toolbar that depicts arrows pointing to opposing corners:

Finally, if you have "Display in Read Mode by default" turned off, but want to instruct the page you're loading not to display the toolbars (i.e., override the user's current preferences), you can append the following to the URL:

#toolbar=0&navpanes=0

So, for example, the following code will disable both the top toolbar (called "toolbar") and the left-hand toolbar (called "navpane"). However, if the user knows the keyboard combination (F8, and perhaps other methods as well), they will still be able to turn them back on.

angular 2 ngIf and CSS transition/animation

In my case I declared the animation on the wrong component by mistake.

The animation needs to be declared on the component where the element is used in (appComponent.ts). I was declaring the animation on OrderDetailsComponent.ts instead.

How to compile a plugin - For making VST plugins in C++Builder, first you need the VST sdk by Steinberg. It's available from the Yvan Grabit's site (the link is at the top of the page).

The next thing you need to do is create a .def file (for example : myplugin.def). This needs to contain at least the following lines:

EXPORTS main=_main

Borland compilers add an underscore to function names, and this exports the main() function the way a VST host expects it. For more information about .def files, see the C++Builder help files.

This is not enough, though. If you're going to use any VCL element (anything to do with forms or components), you have to take care your plugin doesn't crash Cubase (or another VST host, for that matter). Here's how:

  1. Include float.h.
  2. In the constructor of your effect class, write

    _control87(PC_64|MCW_EM,MCW_PC|MCW_EM);
    

That should do the trick.
