I had the same problem and apparently is solved now, despite this and some other gdi+ exceptions are very misleading, I found that actually the problem was that the parameter being sent to a Bitmap constructor was not valid. I have this code:

The following line was causing an error:

Bitmap bitmap = (Bitmap)Image.FromStream(fs, true, false)

The file stream was built from the file downloaded from the Map Server. My app was sending the request incorrectly to get the image, and the server was returning something with the jpg extension, but was actually a html telling me that an error ocurred. So I was taking that image and trying to build a Bitmap with it. The fix was to control/ validate the image for a valid jpeg image.

My understanding is that this is actually very simple:

  • Javascript is always pass by value, but when a variable refers to an object (including arrays), the "value" is a reference to the object.
  • Changing the value of a variable never changes the underlying primitive or object, it just points the variable to a new primitive or object.
  • However, changing a property of an object referenced by a variable does change the underlying object.

So, to work through some of your examples:

It's possible that the HTML5 Doctype is causing you problems with those older browsers. It could also be down to something funky related to the HTML5 shiv.

You could try switching to one of the XHTML doctypes and changing your markup accordingly, at least temporarily. This might allow you to narrow the problem down.

Is your design breaking when those IEs switch to quirks mode? If it's your CSS causing things to display strangely, it might be worth working on the CSS so the site looks the same even when the browsers switch modes.

I would suggest separating your code based on the functionality and purpose specific to each sheet or module. In this manner, you would only put code relative to a sheet's UI inside the sheet's module and only put code related to modules in respective modules. Also, use separate modules to encapsulate code that is shared or reused among several different sheets.

For example, let's say you multiple sheets that are responsible for displaying data from a database in a special way. What kinds of functionality do we have in this situation? We have functionality related to each specific sheet, tasks related to getting data from the database, and tasks related to populating a sheet with data. In this case, I might start with a module for the data access, a module for populating a sheet with data, and within each sheet I'd have code for accessing code in those modules.

To create these constraints through the GUI you need the "indexes and keys" dialogue not the check constraints one.

But in your case you just need to run the piece of code you already have. It doesn't need to be entered into the expression dialogue at all.

LPCSTR, LPCTSTR and LPTSTR

The short answer to 2nd part of the question is simply that CString class doesn't provide a direct typecast conversion by design and what you are doing is kind of cheat.

A longer answer is the following:

The reason you can typcast CString to LPCTSTR is because CString provides this facility by overriding operator=. By design it provides conversion to only LPCTSTR pointer so the string value can't be modified with this pointer.

In other words, it simply doesn't provide an overload operator= to convert the CString into LPSTR for the same reason as above. They don't want to allow altering the string value this way.

So essentially, the trick is to use the operator CString provide and get this:

LPTSTR lptstr = (LPCTSTR) string; // CString provide this operator overload

Now LPTSTR can be further type casted to LPSTR :)

The correct way to get LPTSTR from 'CString' is this though (complete example):

If you want it to work in browsers that don't support history.pushState and history.popState yet, the "old" way is to set the fragment identifier, which won't cause a page reload.

The basic idea is to set the window.location.hash property to a value that contains whatever state information you need, then either use the window.onhashchange event, or for older browsers that don't support onhashchange (IE < 8, Firefox < 3.6), periodically check to see if the hash has changed (using setInterval for example) and update the page. You will also need to check the hash value on page load to set up the initial content.

If you're using jQuery there's a hashchange plugin that will use whichever method the browser supports. I'm sure there are plugins for other libraries as well.

One thing to be careful of is colliding with ids on the page, because the browser will scroll to any element with a matching id.

The common approach would be to check it with a regular expression like it's also suggested inside the Double.valueOf(String) documentation.

fork() and wait() with two child processes

It looks to me as though the basic problem is that you have one wait() call rather than a loop that waits until there are no more children. You also only wait if the last fork() is successful rather than if at least one fork() is successful.

You should only use _exit() if you don't want normal cleanup operations - such as flushing open file streams including stdout. There are occasions to use _exit(); this is not one of them. (In this example, you could also, of course, simply have the children return instead of calling exit() directly because returning from main() is equivalent to exiting with the returned status. However, most often you would be doing the forking and so on in a function other than main(), and then exit() is often appropriate.)

I just solved this exact problem for myself.

The problem was that somebody else had created the file so even though I have admin rights on the computer I was unable to make changes to the file or files. You need to go into the properties of the file or folder and change the ownership or add ownership. This web page explains it well step by step what you need to do.

Once I did the above, I found the file in file explorer and manually extracted it. I don't think it's needed in the android studio project if it was trying to delete it anyway.

The simple name of an array is the simple name of the component type with "[]" appended. In particular the simple name of an array whose component type is anonymous is "[]".

It is actually stripping the package information from the name, but this is hidden from you.

According to the Python 2.7.2 documentation:

An object is hashable if it has a hash value which never changes during its lifetime (it needs a hash() method), and can be compared to other objects (it needs an eq() or cmp() method). Hashable objects which compare equal must have the same hash value.

Hashability makes an object usable as a dictionary key and a set member, because these data structures use the hash value internally.

All of Python’s immutable built-in objects are hashable, while no mutable containers (such as lists or dictionaries) are. Objects which are instances of user-defined classes are hashable by default; they all compare unequal, and their hash value is their id().

A tuple is immutable in the sense that you cannot add, remove or replace its elements, but the elements themselves may be mutable. List's hash value depends on the hash values of its elements, and so it changes when you change the elements.

Using id's for list hashes would imply that all lists compare differently, which would be surprising and inconvenient.

I use the following formula that extends previous answers:

Adding external resources (CSS/JavaScript/images etc) in JSP

The reason that you get the 404 File Not Found error, is that your path to CSS given as a value to the href attribute is missing context path.

An HTTP request URL contains the following parts:

http://[host]:[port][request-path]?[query-string]

The request path is further composed of the following elements:

  • Context path: A concatenation of a forward slash (/) with the context root of the servlet's web application. Example: http://host[:port]/context-root[/url-pattern]

  • Servlet path: The path section that corresponds to the component alias that activated this request. This path starts with a forward slash (/).

  • Path info: The part of the request path that is not part of the context path or the servlet path.

Solutions

There are several solutions to your problem, here are some of them:

1) Using <c:url> tag from JSTL

In my Java web applications I usually used <c:url> tag from JSTL when defining the path to CSS/JavaScript/image and other static resources. By doing so you can be sure that those resources are referenced always relative to the application context (context path).

If you say, that your CSS is located inside WebContent folder, then this should work:

The reason why it works is explained in the "JavaServer Pages™ Standard Tag Library" version 1.2 specification chapter 7.5 (emphasis mine):

The URL must be either an absolute URL starting with a scheme (e.g. "http:// server/context/page.jsp") or a relative URL as defined by JSP 1.2 in JSP.2.2.1 "Relative URL Specification". As a consequence, an implementation must prepend the context path to a URL that starts with a slash (e.g. "/page2.jsp") so that such URLs can be properly interpreted by a client browser.

NOTE
Don't forget to use Taglib directive in your JSP to be able to reference JSTL tags. Also see an example JSP page here.


2) Using JSP Expression Language and implicit objects

An alternative solution is using Expression Language (EL) to add application context:

3) Using <c:set> tag from JSTL

DISCLAIMER

To make accessing the context path more compact than in the solution ?2, you can first use the JSTL <c:set> tag, that sets the value of an EL variable or the property of an EL variable in any of the JSP scopes (page, request, session, or application) for later access.

IMPORTANT NOTE
By default, in order to set the variable in such manner, the JSP that contains this set tag must be accessed at least once (including in case of setting the value in the application scope using scope attribute, like <c:set var="foo" value="bar" scope="application" />), before using this new variable. For instance, you can have several JSP files where you need this variable. So you must ether a) both set the new variable holding context path in the application scope AND access this JSP first, before using this variable in other JSP files, or b) set this context path holding variable in EVERY JSP file, where you need to access to it.


4) Using ServletContextListener

The more effective way to make accessing the context path more compact is to set a variable that will hold the context path and store it in the application scope using a Listener. This solution is similar to solution ?3, but the benefit is that now the variable holding context path is set right at the start of the web application and is available application wide, no need for additional steps.

We need a class that implements ServletContextListener interface. Here is an example of such class:

Conclusion

I personally prefer either the first solution (used it in my previous projects most of the time) or the second, as they are most clear, intuitive and unambiguous (IMHO). But you choose whatever suits you most.


Other thoughts

You can deploy your web app as the default application (i.e. in the default root context), so it can be accessed without specifying context path. For more info read the "Update" section here.

Case-insensitive string comparison in C++

If you are on a POSIX system, you can use strcasecmp. This function is not part of standard C, though, nor is it available on Windows. This will perform a case-insensitive comparison on 8-bit chars, so long as the locale is POSIX. If the locale is not POSIX, the results are undefined (so it might do a localized compare, or it might not). A wide-character equivalent is not available.

Failing that, a large number of historic C library implementations have the functions stricmp() and strnicmp(). Visual C++ on Windows renamed all of these by prefixing them with an underscore because they aren’t part of the ANSI standard, so on that system they’re called _stricmp or _strnicmp. Some libraries may also have wide-character or multibyte equivalent functions (typically named e.g. wcsicmp, mbcsicmp and so on).

C and C++ are both largely ignorant of internationalization issues, so there's no good solution to this problem, except to use a third-party library. Check out IBM ICU (International Components for Unicode) if you need a robust library for C/C++. ICU is for both Windows and Unix systems.

The SQL engine should give an error because of that (though some such as mysql just pick a random-ish value out of the several, I believe sql-server is better than that).

So, for example, change the first line to SELECT id, MAX(time) or the like!

What would be handy would be to apply the Camera position to a new plot. So I plot, then move the plot around with the mouse changing the distance. Then try to replicate the view including the distance on another plot. I find that axx.ax.get_axes() gets me an object with the old .azim and .elev.

Closing a Userform with Unload Me doesn't work

As specified by the top answer, I used the following in the code behind the button control.

The "Me" keyword refers to the user form object even when called from a control on the user form. If you are getting errors with this technique, there are a couple of possible reasons.

  1. You could be entering the code in the wrong place (such as a separate module)

  2. You might be using an older version of Office. I'm using Office 2013. I've noticed that VBA changes over time.

From my experience, the use of the the DoCmd.... method is more specific to the macro features in MS Access, but not commonly used in Excel VBA.

How to debug heap corruption errors?

What type of allocation functions are you using? I recently hit a similar error using the Heap* style allocation functions.

It turned out that I was mistakenly creating the heap with the HEAP_NO_SERIALIZE option. This essentially makes the Heap functions run without thread safety. It's a performance improvement if used properly but shouldn't ever be used if you are using HeapAlloc in a multi-threaded program [1]. I only mention this because your post mentions you have a multi-threaded app. If you are using HEAP_NO_SERIALIZE anywhere, delete that and it will likely fix your problem.

[1] There are certain situations where this is legal, but it requires you to serialize calls to Heap* and is typically not the case for multi-threaded programs.

Nginx reverse proxy causing 504 Gateway Timeout

You can also face this situation if your upstream server uses a domain name, and its IP address changes (e.g.: your upstream points to an AWS Elastic Load Balancer)

The problem is that nginx will resolve the IP address once, and keep it cached for subsequent requests until the configuration is reloaded.

You can tell nginx to use a name server to re-resolve the domain once the cached entry expires:

  • Each database can have many Schema/User (Logical division).
  • Each database can have many tablespaces (Logical division).
  • A schema is the set of objects (tables, indexes, views, etc) that belong to a user.
  • In Oracle, a user can be considered the same as a schema.
  • A database is divided into logical storage units called tablespaces, which group related logical structures together. For example, tablespaces commonly group all of an application’s objects to simplify some administrative operations. You may have a tablespace for application data and an additional one for application indexes.

Therefore, your question, "to see all tablespaces and datafiles belong to SCOTT" is s bit wrong.

However, there are some DBA views encompass information about all database objects, regardless of the owner. Only users with DBA privileges can access these views: DBA_DATA_FILES, DBA_TABLESPACES, DBA_FREE_SPACE, DBA_SEGMENTS.

So, connect to your DB as sysdba and run query through these helpful views. For example this query can help you to find all tablespaces and their data files that objects of your user are located:

Django 1.7 - makemigrations not detecting changes

Added this answer because none of other available above worked for me.

In my case something even more weird was happening (Django 1.7 Version), In my models.py I had an "extra" line at the end of my file (it was a blank line) and when I executed the python manage.py makemigrations command the result was: "no changes detected".

To fix this I deleted this "blank line" that was at the end of my models.py file and I did run the command again, everything was fixed and all the changes made to models.py were detected!

Deserialize a json string to an object in python

Another way is to simply pass the json string as a dict to the constructor of your object. For example your object is:

Basically, we first create a generic json object from the json string. Then, we pass the generic json object as a dict to the constructor of the Payload class. The constructor of Payload class interprets the dict as keyword arguments and sets all the appropriate fields.

Trigger change() event when setting <select>'s value with val() function

The straight answer is already in a duplicate question: Why does the jquery change event not trigger when I set the value of a select using val()?

As you probably know setting the value of the select doesn't trigger the change() event, if you're looking for an event that is fired when an element's value has been changed through JS there isn't one.

If you really want to do this I guess the only way is to write a function that checks the DOM on an interval and tracks changed values, but definitely don't do this unless you must (not sure why you ever would need to)

Another possible solution would be to create your own .val() wrapper function and have it trigger a custom event after setting the value through .val(), then when you use your .val() wrapper to set the value of a <select> it will trigger your custom event which you can trap and handle.

The effect you want is to treat the NULL as the largest possible date then replace it with NULL again upon completion:

Trying to use fetch and pass in mode: no-cors

mode: 'no-cors' won’t magically make things work. In fact it makes things worse, because one effect it has is to tell browsers, “Block my frontend JavaScript code from looking at contents of the response body and headers under all circumstances.” Of course you almost never want that.

What happens with cross-origin requests from frontend JavaScript is that browsers by default block frontend code from accessing resources cross-origin. If Access-Control-Allow-Origin is in a response, then browsers will relax that blocking and allow your code to access the response.

But if a site sends no Access-Control-Allow-Origin in its responses, your frontend code can’t directly access responses from that site. In particular, you can’t fix it by specifying mode: 'no-cors' (in fact that’ll ensure your frontend code can’t access the response contents).

However, one thing that will work: if you send your request through a CORS proxy.

You can also easily deploy your own proxy to Heroku in literally just 2-3 minutes, with 5 commands:

After running those commands, you’ll end up with your own CORS Anywhere server running at, for example, https://cryptic-headland-94862.herokuapp.com/.

Prefix your request URL with your proxy URL; for example:

Adding the proxy URL as a prefix causes the request to get made through your proxy, which then:

  1. Forwards the request to https://example.com.
  2. Receives the response from https://example.com.
  3. Adds the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header to the response.
  4. Passes that response, with that added header, back to the requesting frontend code.

The browser then allows the frontend code to access the response, because that response with the Access-Control-Allow-Origin response header is what the browser sees.

This works even if the request is one that triggers browsers to do a CORS preflight OPTIONS request, because in that case, the proxy also sends back the Access-Control-Allow-Headers and Access-Control-Allow-Methods headers needed to make the preflight successful.

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Access_control_CORS explains why it is that even though you can access the response with Postman, browsers won’t let you access the response cross-origin from frontend JavaScript code running in a web app unless the response includes an Access-Control-Allow-Origin response header.

http://catfacts-api.appspot.com/api/facts?number=99 has no Access-Control-Allow-Origin response header, so there’s no way your frontend code can access the response cross-origin.

Your browser can get the response fine and you can see it in Postman and even in browser devtools—but that doesn’t mean browsers will expose it to your code. They won’t, because it has no Access-Control-Allow-Origin response header. So you must instead use a proxy to get it.

The proxy makes the request to that site, gets the response, adds the Access-Control-Allow-Origin response header and any other CORS headers needed, then passes that back to your requesting code. And that response with the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header added is what the browser sees, so the browser lets your frontend code actually access the response.


So I am trying to pass in an object, to my Fetch which will disable CORS

You don’t want to do that. To be clear, when you say you want to “disable CORS” it seems you actually mean you want to disable the same-origin policy. CORS itself is actually a way to do that — CORS is a way to loosen the same-origin policy, not a way to restrict it.

But anyway, it’s true you can — in just your local environment — do things like give your browser runtime flags to disable security and run insecurely, or you can install a browser extension locally to get around the same-origin policy, but all that does is change the situation just for you locally.

No matter what you change locally, anybody else trying to use your app is still going to run into the same-origin policy, and there’s no way you can disable that for other users of your app.

You most likely never want to use mode: 'no-cors' in practice except in a few limited cases, and even then only if you know exactly what you’re doing and what the effects are. That’s because what setting mode: 'no-cors' actually says to the browser is, “Block my frontend JavaScript code from looking into the contents of the response body and headers under all circumstances.” In most cases that’s obviously really not what you want.


As far as the cases when you would want to consider using mode: 'no-cors', see the answer at What limitations apply to opaque responses? for the details. The gist of it is that the cases are:

  • In the limited case when you’re using JavaScript to put content from another origin into a <script>, <link rel=stylesheet>, <img>, <video>, <audio>, <object>, <embed>, or <iframe> element (which works because embedding of resources cross-origin is allowed for those) — but for some reason you don’t want to or can’t do that just by having the markup of the document use the resource URL as the href or src attribute for the element.

  • When the only thing you want to do with a resource is to cache it. As alluded to in the answer What limitations apply to opaque responses?, in practice the scenario that applies to is when you’re using Service Workers, in which case the API that’s relevant is the Cache Storage API.

But even in those limited cases, there are some important gotchas to be aware of; see the answer at What limitations apply to opaque responses? for the details.

There is no mode: 'opaque' request mode — opaque is instead just a property of the response, and browsers set that opaque property on responses from requests sent with the no-cors mode.

But incidentally the word opaque is a pretty explicit signal about the nature of the response you end up with: “opaque” means you can’t see it.

On Debian we use the start-stop-daemon utility, which handles pid-files, changing the user, putting the daemon into background and much more.

I'm not familiar with RedHat, but the daemon utility that you are already using (which is defined in /etc/init.d/functions, btw.) is mentioned everywhere as the equivalent to start-stop-daemon, so either it can also change the uid of your program, or the way you do it is already the correct one.

@alvas's answer does the job but it can be done way faster. Assuming that you have documents: a list of strings.

P.S. in most of the cases you need to divide the text into words to perform some other classification tasks for which tf-idf is used. So most probably it would be better to use stemmer as well:

Simplest Understanding for default export is

Export is ES6's feature which is used to Export a module(file) and use it in some other module(file).

Default Export:

  1. default export is the convention if you want to export only one object(variable, function, class) from the file(module).

  3. When importing default exported object we can rename it as well.

These are all good ideas in theory, until you go deep. The problem is you can't throttle an RAF without de-synchronizing it, defeating it's very purpose for existing. So you let it run at full-speed, and update your data in a separate loop, or even a separate thread!

Yes, I said it. You can do multi-threaded JavaScript in the browser!

There are two methods I know that work extremely well without jank, using far less juice and creating less heat. Accurate human-scale timing and machine efficiency are the net result.

Apologies if this is a little wordy, but here goes...


Method 1: Update data via setInterval, and graphics via RAF.

Use a separate setInterval for updating translation and rotation values, physics, collisions, etc. Keep those values in an object for each animated element. Assign the transform string to a variable in the object each setInterval 'frame'. Keep these objects in an array. Set your interval to your desired fps in ms: ms=(1000/fps). This keeps a steady clock that allows the same fps on any device, regardless of RAF speed. Do not assign the transforms to the elements here!

In a requestAnimationFrame loop, iterate through your array with an old-school for loop-- do not use the newer forms here, they are slow!

In your rafUpdate function, get the transform string from your js object in the array, and its elements id. You should already have your 'sprite' elements attached to a variable or easily accessible through other means so you don't lose time 'get'-ing them in the RAF. Keeping them in an object named after their html id's works pretty good. Set that part up before it even goes into your SI or RAF.

Use the RAF to update your transforms only, use only 3D transforms (even for 2d), and set css "will-change: transform;" on elements that will change. This keeps your transforms synced to the native refresh rate as much as possible, kicks in the GPU, and tells the browser where to concentrate most.

This keeps your updates to the data objects and transform strings synced to desired 'frame' rate in the SI, and the actual transform assignments in the RAF synced to GPU refresh rate. So the actual graphics updates are only in the RAF, but the changes to the data, and building the transform string are in the SI, thus no jankies but 'time' flows at desired frame-rate.


Flow:

Method 2. Put the SI in a web-worker. This one is FAAAST and smooth!

Same as method 1, but put the SI in web-worker. It'll run on a totally separate thread then, leaving the page to deal only with the RAF and UI. Pass the sprite array back and forth as a 'transferable object'. This is buko fast. It does not take time to clone or serialize, but it's not like passing by reference in that the reference from the other side is destroyed, so you will need to have both sides pass to the other side, and only update them when present, sort of like passing a note back and forth with your girlfriend in high-school.

Only one can read and write at a time. This is fine so long as they check if it's not undefined to avoid an error. The RAF is FAST and will kick it back immediately, then go through a bunch of GPU frames just checking if it's been sent back yet. The SI in the web-worker will have the sprite array most of the time, and will update positional, movement and physics data, as well as creating the new transform string, then pass it back to the RAF in the page.

This is the fastest way I know to animate elements via script. The two functions will be running as two separate programs, on two separate threads, taking advantage of multi-core CPU's in a way that a single js script does not. Multi-threaded javascript animation.

And it will do so smoothly without jank, but at the actual specified frame-rate, with very little divergence.


Result:

Either of these two methods will ensure your script will run at the same speed on any PC, phone, tablet, etc (within the capabilities of the device and the browser, of course).

ORA-01036: illegal variable name/number when running query through C#

The root cause

In Oracle you have three kinds of SQL statements (and additionally there are PL/SQL blocks):

  • Statements in the Data Definiton Language (DDL). These statements modify the structure of the database. They begin usually with the verbs "ALTER" or "CREATE"
  • Statements in the Data Modification Langugage (DML). There statements modify the content inside of tables, leaving the structure of each table unmodified. These statements usually begin with "INSERT", "MERGE" or "DELETE".
  • Statements in what I call "query language" (there seems to be no canonical name for these). This statements start with the verb "SELECT".

Bind variables in Oracle are only allowed in some special places in DML and query statements. You are trying to use bind variables in a places where they are not allowed. Hence the error.

Solution

Build your statement without bind variables. Build the complete query string instead using string concatenation.

If you want to sanitize the input before concatenating the string, use the DBMS_ASSERT package.

Background

Bind variables can only be used when Oracle can build a query plan without knowing the value of the variable. For DDL statements, there is no query plan. Hence bind variables are not allowed.

In DML and query statements, bind variables are only allowed, when they are used inside a tuple (regarding the underlying set theory), i.e. when the value will be compared with the value in a table or when the value will be inserted in a table. They are not allowed to change the structure of the execution plan (e.g. to change the target table or to change the number of comparisons).

Should I use PATCH or PUT in my REST API?

Since you want to design an API using the REST architectural style you need to think about your use cases to decide which concepts are important enough to expose as resources. Should you decide to expose the status of a group as a sub-resource you could give it the following URI and implement support for both GET and PUT methods:

/groups/api/groups/{group id}/status

The downside of this approach over PATCH for modification is that you will not be able to make changes to more than one property of a group atomically and transactionally. If transactional changes are important then use PATCH.

If you do decide to expose the status as a sub-resource of a group it should be a link in the representation of the group. For example if the agent gets group 123 and accepts XML the response body could contain:

You need to use strcpy() to copy into the array.

That said, data s1 = {"Paolo", "Rossi", 19}; works fine, because this is not a direct assignment involving assignment operator. There we're using a brace-enclosed initializer list to provide the initial values of the object. That follows the law of initialization, as mentioned in chapter §6.7.9

Each brace-enclosed initializer list has an associated current object. When no designations are present, subobjects of the current object are initialized in order according to the type of the current object: array elements in increasing subscript order, structure members in declaration order, and the first named member of a union.[....]

Upgrading PHP in XAMPP for Windows?

download your desired version of php binary from http://windows.php.net/download/ website. download Thread Safe binary zip version. Unzip the downloaded version of the PHP in a separate folder. Please make sure that your new php folder name is not "PHP". May be you can use filder name as the version name. For example for php 5.4 you can use php54.

SQL Server 2008 R2 Express permissions -- cannot create database or modify users

I have 2 accounts on my windows machine and I was experiencing this problem with one of them. I did not want to use the sa account, I wanted to use Windows login. It was not immediately obvious to me that I needed to simply sign into the other account that I used to install SQL Server, and add the permissions for the new account from there

I came across this post and went back to an approach that I used some time ago which is similar to @MadAntrax's.

The main difference is that it uses a VBScript user-defined class to wrap all the logic for switching to CScript and outputting text to the console, so it makes the main script a bit cleaner.

This assumes that your objective is to stream output to the console, rather than having output go to message boxes.

The cCONSOLE class is below. To use it, include the complete class at the end of your script, and then instantiate it right at the beginning of the script. Here is an example:
