How to install latest version of git on CentOS 7.x/6.x

This may be irrelevant. It is for people don't want build the latest git on the host meanwhile they still can get the latest git.

I think most people don't like building the latest git on CentOS because the dependencies will contaminate the host and you have to run lots of commands. Therefore, I have an idea which is building git inside the Docker container and then install the executable via the docker volume mount. After that, you can delete the image and container.

Yes, the downside is you have to install docker. But the least dependencies are introduced to the host and you don't have to install other yum repo.

Here is my repository. https://github.com/wood1986/docker-library/tree/master/git

Two approaches:

  • When you login: you can to create a copy_my_files.bat file into your All Programs > Startup folder with this content (its a plain text document):

    • xcopy c:\folder\*.* d:\another_folder\.

    Use xcopy c:\folder\*.* d:\another_folder\. /Y to overwrite the file without any prompt.

  • Everytime a folder changes: if you can to use C#, you can to create a program using FileSystemWatcher

What is PECS (Producer Extends Consumer Super)?

tl;dr: "PECS" is from the collection's point of view. If you are only pulling items from a generic collection, it is a producer and you should use extends; if you are only stuffing items in, it is a consumer and you should use super. If you do both with the same collection, you shouldn't use either extends or super.

Suppose you have a method that takes as its parameter a collection of things, but you want it to be more flexible than just accepting a Collection<Thing>.

Case 1: You want to go through the collection and do things with each item.
Then the list is a producer, so you should use a Collection<? extends Thing>.

The reasoning is that a Collection<? extends Thing> could hold any subtype of Thing, and thus each element will behave as a Thing when you perform your operation. (You actually cannot add anything (except null) to a Collection<? extends Thing>, because you cannot know at runtime which specific subtype of Thing the collection holds.)

Case 2: You want to add things to the collection.
Then the list is a consumer, so you should use a Collection<? super Thing>.

The reasoning here is that unlike Collection<? extends Thing>, Collection<? super Thing> can always hold a Thing no matter what the actual parameterized type is. Here you don't care what is already in the list as long as it will allow a Thing to be added; this is what ? super Thing guarantees.

How to get the dimensions of a tensor (in TensorFlow) at graph construction time?

I see most people confused about tf.shape(tensor) and tensor.get_shape() Let's make it clear:

  1. tf.shape

tf.shape is used for dynamic shape. If your tensor's shape is changable, use it. An example: a input is an image with changable width and height, we want resize it to half of its size, then we can write something like:
new_height = tf.shape(image)[0] / 2

  1. tensor.get_shape

tensor.get_shape is used for fixed shapes, which means the tensor's shape can be deduced in the graph.

Conclusion: tf.shape can be used almost anywhere, but t.get_shape only for shapes can be deduced from graph.

Read all contacts' phone numbers in android

Here's how to use ContentsContract API to fetch your contacts in your Phone Book. You'll need to add these permissions in your AndroidManifest.xml

<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_CONTACTS" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.READ_CONTACTS" />

Then, you can run this method to loop through all your contacts.

Here's an example to query fields like Name and Phone Number, you can configure yourself to use CommonDataKinds, it query other fields in your Contact.

https://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds

private fun readContactsOnDevice() {
    val context = requireContext()
    if (ContextCompat.checkSelfPermission(
            context, Manifest.permission.WRITE_CONTACTS
        ) != PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED &&
        ContextCompat.checkSelfPermission(
            context, Manifest.permission.READ_CONTACTS
        ) != PackageManager.PERMISSION_GRANTED
    ) {
        requestPermissions(
            arrayOf(Manifest.permission.READ_CONTACTS, Manifest.permission.WRITE_CONTACTS), 1
        )
        return
    }

    val contentResolver = context.contentResolver
    val contacts = contentResolver.query(
        ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.CONTENT_URI,
        null, null, null, null
    )

    while (contacts?.moveToNext() == true) {
        val name = contacts.getString(
            contacts.getColumnIndex(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.DISPLAY_NAME)
        )
        val phoneNumber = contacts.getString(
            contacts.getColumnIndex(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.NUMBER)
        )
        Timber.i("Name: $name, Phone Number: $phoneNumber")
    }
}

Using G++ to compile multiple .cpp and .h files

If you want to use #include <myheader.hpp> inside your cpp files you can use:

g++ *.cpp -I. -o out

vertical divider between two columns in bootstrap

If your code looks like this:

<div class="row">
  <div class="span6">
  </div>
  <div class="span6">
  </div>
</div>

Then I'd assume you're using additional DIVS within the "span6" DIVS for holding/styling your content? So...

<div class="row">
  <div class="span6">
    <div class="mycontent-left">
    </div>
  </div>
  <div class="span6">
    <div class="mycontent-right">
    </div>
  </div>
</div>

So you could simply add some CSS to the "mycontent-left" class to create your divider.

.mycontent-left {
  border-right: 1px dashed #333;
}

Cross-Origin Request Headers(CORS) with PHP headers

I got the same error, and fixed it with the following PHP in my back-end script:

header('Access-Control-Allow-Methods: GET, POST');

header("Access-Control-Allow-Headers: X-Requested-With");

Convert NSDate to String in iOS Swift

You can use this extension:

extension Date {

    func toString(withFormat format: String) -> String {
        let formatter = DateFormatter()
        formatter.dateFormat = format
        let myString = formatter.string(from: self)
        let yourDate = formatter.date(from: myString)
        formatter.dateFormat = format

        return formatter.string(from: yourDate!)
    }
}

And use it in your view controller like this (replace <"yyyy"> with your format):

yourString = yourDate.toString(withFormat: "yyyy")

CORS: Cannot use wildcard in Access-Control-Allow-Origin when credentials flag is true

This works for me in development but I can't advise that in production, it's just a different way of getting the job done that hasn't been mentioned yet but probably not the best. Anyway here goes:

You can get the origin from the request, then use that in the response header. Here's how it looks in express:

app.use(function(req, res, next) {
  res.header('Access-Control-Allow-Origin', req.header('origin') );
  next();
});

I don't know what that would look like with your python setup but that should be easy to translate.

How to break out of a loop from inside a switch?

Even if you don't like goto, do not use an exception to exit a loop. The following sample shows how ugly it could be:

try {
  while ( ... ) {
    switch( ... ) {
      case ...:
        throw 777; // I'm afraid of goto
     }
  }
}
catch ( int )
{
}

I would use goto as in this answer. In this case goto will make code more clear then any other option. I hope that this question will be helpful.

But I think that using goto is the only option here because of the string while(true). You should consider refactoring of your loop. I'd suppose the following solution:

bool end_loop = false;
while ( !end_loop ) {
    switch( msg->state ) {
    case MSGTYPE: // ...
        break;
    // ... more stuff ...
    case DONE:
        end_loop = true; break;
    }
}

Or even the following:

while ( msg->state != DONE ) {
    switch( msg->state ) {
    case MSGTYPE: // ...
        break;
    // ... more stuff ...
}

Use Ant for running program with command line arguments

If you do not want to handle separate properties for each possible argument, I suggest you'd use:

<arg line="${args}"/>

You can check if the property is not set using a specific target with an unless attribute and inside do:

<input message="Type the desired command line arguments:" addProperty="args"/>

Putting it all together gives:

<target name="run" depends="compile, input-runargs" description="run the project">
  <!-- You can use exec here, depending on your needs -->
  <java classname="Main">
    <arg line="${args}"/>
  </java>
</target>
<target name="input-runargs" unless="args" description="prompts for command line arguments if necessary">
  <input addProperty="args" message="Type the desired command line arguments:"/>
</target>

You can use it as follows:

ant
ant run
ant run -Dargs='--help'

The first two commands will prompt for the command-line arguments, whereas the latter won't.

How can I have grep not print out 'No such file or directory' errors?

Have you tried the -0 option in xargs? Something like this:

Global variables in AngularJS

You can also use the environment variable $window so that a global variable declare outside a controller can be checked inside a $watch

var initWatch = function($scope,$window){
    $scope.$watch(function(scope) { return $window.globalVar },
        function(newValue) {
            $scope.updateDisplayedVar(newValue);
    });
}

Becareful, the digest cycle is longer with these global values, so it is not always real-timed updated. I need to investigate on that digest time with this configuration.

SQL Server returns error "Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'." in Windows application

A similar case solved:

In our case, we wanted to set up linked servers using cnames and with the logins current security context.

All in order we checked that the service account running SQL Server had its' proper spns set and that the AD-object was trusted for delegation. But, while we were able to connect to the cname directly, we still had issues calling a linked server on its' cname: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.

It took us far too long to realize that the cnames we used was for A-record, [A], that was set on a higher dns level, and not in its' own domain AD-level. Originally, we had the cname directing to [A].example.com and not (where it should) to: [A].domain.ad.example.com

Ofcourse we had these errors about anonymous logon.

How do I find out which computer is the domain controller in Windows programmatically?

To retrieve the information when the DomainController exists in a Domain in which your machine doesn't belong, you need something more.

  DirectoryContext domainContext =  new DirectoryContext(DirectoryContextType.Domain, "targetDomainName", "validUserInDomain", "validUserPassword");

  var domain = System.DirectoryServices.ActiveDirectory.Domain.GetDomain(domainContext);
  var controller = domain.FindDomainController();

How to set the max value and min value of <input> in html5 by javascript or jquery?

Try this:

<input type="number" max="???" min="???" step="0.5" id="myInput"/>

$("#myInput").attr({
   "max" : 10,
   "min" : 2
});

Note:This will set max and min value only to single input

how to replace an entire column on Pandas.DataFrame

For those that struggle with the "SettingWithCopy" warning, here's a workaround which may not be so efficient, but still gets the job done.

Suppose you with to overwrite column_1 and column_3, but retain column_2 and column_4

columns_to_overwrite = ["column_1", "column_3"]

First delete the columns that you intend to replace...

original_df.drop(labels=columns_to_overwrite, axis="columns", inplace=True)

... then re-insert the columns, but using the values that you intended to overwrite

original_df[columns_to_overwrite] = other_data_frame[columns_to_overwrite]

How to use if statements in underscore.js templates?

You can try _.isUndefined

<% if (!_.isUndefined(date)) { %><span class="date"><%= date %></span><% } %>

how to add a day to a date using jquery datepicker

The datepicker('setDate') sets the date in the datepicket not in the input.

You should add the date and set it in the input.

var date2 = $('.pickupDate').datepicker('getDate');
var nextDayDate = new Date();
nextDayDate.setDate(date2.getDate() + 1);
$('input').val(nextDayDate);

How do I get a computer's name and IP address using VB.NET?

Dim ipAddress As IPAddress
Dim ipHostInfo As IPHostEntry = Dns.Resolve(Dns.GetHostName())
ipAddress = ipHostInfo.AddressList(0)

Why use prefixes on member variables in C++ classes

You should never need such a prefix. If such a prefix offers you any advantage, your coding style in general needs fixing, and it's not the prefix that's keeping your code from being clear. Typical bad variable names include "other" or "2". You do not fix that with requiring it to be mOther, you fix it by getting the developer to think about what that variable is doing there in the context of that function. Perhaps he meant remoteSide, or newValue, or secondTestListener or something in that scope.

It's an effective anachronism that's still propagated too far. Stop prefixing your variables and give them proper names whose clarity reflects how long they're used. Up to 5 lines you could call it "i" without confusion; beyond 50 lines you need a pretty long name.

Active Menu Highlight CSS

Let's say we have a menu like this:

<div class="menu">
  <a href="link1.html">Link 1</a>
  <a href="link2.html">Link 2</a>
  <a href="link3.html">Link 3</a>
  <a href="link4.html">Link 4</a>
</div>

Let our current url be https://demosite.com/link1.html

With the following function we can add the active class to which menu's href is in our url.

let currentURL = window.location.href;

document.querySelectorAll(".menu a").forEach(p => {
  if(currentURL.indexOf(p.getAttribute("href")) !== -1){
    p.classList.add("active");
  }
})

How does the JPA @SequenceGenerator annotation work

Open source face recognition for Android

Here are some links that I found on face recognition libraries.

In my case it happen because RouterModule was missed in the import.

Specifying maxlength for multiline textbox

Roll your own:

function Count(text)
{
    //asp.net textarea maxlength doesnt work; do it by hand
    var maxlength = 2000; //set your value here (or add a parm and pass it in)
    var object = document.getElementById(text.id)  //get your object
    if (object.value.length > maxlength)
    {
        object.focus(); //set focus to prevent jumping
        object.value = text.value.substring(0, maxlength); //truncate the value
        object.scrollTop = object.scrollHeight; //scroll to the end to prevent jumping
        return false;
    }
    return true;
}

Call like this:

<asp:TextBox ID="foo" runat="server" Rows="3" TextMode="MultiLine" onKeyUp="javascript:Count(this);" onChange="javascript:Count(this);" ></asp:TextBox>

How can I delete one element from an array by value

I improved Niels's solution

class Array
  def except(*values)
    self - values
  end
end

Now you can use

[1, 2, 3, 4].except(3, 4) # return [1, 2]
[1, 2, 3, 4].except(4)    # return [1, 2, 3]

php function mail() isn't working

I think you are not configured properly,

if you are using XAMPP then you can easily send mail from localhost.

for example you can configure C:\xampp\php\php.ini and c:\xampp\sendmail\sendmail.ini for gmail to send mail.

in C:\xampp\php\php.ini find extension=php_openssl.dll and remove the semicolon from the beginning of that line to make SSL working for gmail for localhost.

in php.ini file find [mail function] and change

SMTP=smtp.gmail.com
smtp_port=587
sendmail_from = [email protected]
sendmail_path = "C:\xampp\sendmail\sendmail.exe -t"

(use the above send mail path only and it will work)

Now Open C:\xampp\sendmail\sendmail.ini. Replace all the existing code in sendmail.ini with following code

[sendmail]

smtp_server=smtp.gmail.com
smtp_port=587
error_logfile=error.log
debug_logfile=debug.log
[email protected]
auth_password=my-gmail-password
[email protected]

Now you have done!! create php file with mail function and send mail from localhost.

Update

First, make sure you PHP installation has SSL support (look for an "openssl" section in the output from phpinfo()).

You can set the following settings in your PHP.ini:

ini_set("SMTP","ssl://smtp.gmail.com");
ini_set("smtp_port","465");

Pushing to Git returning Error Code 403 fatal: HTTP request failed

None of the above answers worked for my enterprise GitHub account. Follow these steps for pushing via ssh key generation way.

Create a repo by visiting your git account.

Generate ssh key:

ssh-keygen -t rsa -C "[email protected]"

Copy the contents of the file ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub to your SSH keys in your GitHub account settings. Test SSH key:

ssh -T [email protected]
clone the repo:
git clone git://github.com/username/your-repository

Now cd to your git clone folder and do:

git remote set-url origin [email protected]:username/your-repository.git

Now try editing a file (try the README) and then do:

git add -A
git commit -am "my update msg"
git push -u origin master

Update: new git version seems to recommend not to have any file while new repo is created. Hence make aa blank repo.

Object Required Error in excel VBA

In order to set the value of integer variable we simply assign the value to it. eg g1val = 0 where as set keyword is used to assign value to object.

Sub test()

Dim g1val, g2val As Integer

  g1val = 0
  g2val = 0

    For i = 3 To 18

     If g1val > Cells(33, i).Value Then
        g1val = g1val
    Else
       g1val = Cells(33, i).Value
     End If

    Next i

    For j = 32 To 57
        If g2val > Cells(31, j).Value Then
           g2val = g2val
        Else
          g2val = Cells(31, j).Value
        End If
    Next j

End Sub

Access Form - Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression

I had this on a form where the Recordsource is dynamic.

The Sql was fine, answer is to trap the error!

Private Sub Form_Error(DataErr As Integer, Response As Integer)
'    Debug.Print DataErr

    If DataErr = 3075 Then
        Response = acDataErrContinue
    End If

End Sub

How Can I Bypass the X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN HTTP Header?

As for second question - you can use Fiddler filters to set response X-Frame-Options header manually to something like ALLOW-FROM *. But, of course, this trick will work only for you - other users still won't be able to see iframe content(if they not do the same).

JSON date to Java date?

Note that SimpleDateFormat format pattern Z is for RFC 822 time zone and pattern X is for ISO 8601 (this standard supports single letter time zone names like Z for Zulu).

So new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ss.SSSX") produces a format that can parse both "2013-03-11T01:38:18.309Z" and "2013-03-11T01:38:18.309+0000" and will give you the same result.

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, you can't get this format to generate the Z for Zulu version, which is annoying.

I actually have more trouble on the JavaScript side to deal with both formats.

python pandas dataframe to dictionary

This is my solution:

import pandas as pd
df = pd.read_excel('dic.xlsx')
df_T = df.set_index('id').T
dic = df_T.to_dict('records')
print(dic)

What is the difference between logical data model and conceptual data model?

Conceptual Schema - covers entities and relationships. Should be created first. Contrary to some of the other answers; tables are not defined here. For example a 'many to many' table is not included in a conceptual data model but is defined as a 'many to many' relationship between entities.

Logical Schema - Covers tables, attributes, keys, mandatory role constraints, and referential integrity with no regards to the physical implementation. Things like indexes are not defined, attribute types should be kept logical, e.g. text instead of varchar2. Should be created based on the conceptual schema.

PostgreSQL: days/months/years between two dates

I spent some time looking for the best answer, and I think I have it.

This sql will give you the number of days between two dates as integer:

SELECT
    (EXTRACT(epoch from age('2017-6-15', now())) / 86400)::int

..which, when run today (2017-3-28), provides me with:

?column?
------------
77

The misconception about the accepted answer:

select age('2010-04-01', '2012-03-05'),
   date_part('year',age('2010-04-01', '2012-03-05')),
   date_part('month',age('2010-04-01', '2012-03-05')),
   date_part('day',age('2010-04-01', '2012-03-05'));

..is that you will get the literal difference between the parts of the date strings, not the amount of time between the two dates.

I.E:

Age(interval)=-1 years -11 mons -4 days;

Years(double precision)=-1;

Months(double precision)=-11;

Days(double precision)=-4;

WCF service maxReceivedMessageSize basicHttpBinding issue

Removing the name from your binding will make it apply to all endpoints, and should produce the desired results. As so:

<services>
  <service name="Service.IService">
    <clear />
    <endpoint binding="basicHttpBinding" contract="Service.IService" />
  </service>
</services>
<bindings>
  <basicHttpBinding>
    <binding maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647">
      <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="2147483647"
        maxArrayLength="16348" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" />
    </binding>
  </basicHttpBinding>
  <webHttpBinding>
    <binding maxBufferSize="2147483647" maxReceivedMessageSize="2147483647" />
  </webHttpBinding>
</bindings>

Also note that I removed the bindingConfiguration attribute from the endpoint node. Otherwise you would get an exception.

CSS show div background image on top of other contained elements

How about making the <div id="mainWrapperDivWithBGImage"> as three divs, where the two outside divs hold the rounded corners images, and the middle div simply has a background-color to match the rounded corner images. Then you could simply place the other elements inside the middle div, or:

#outside_left{width:10px; float:left;}
#outside_right{width:10px; float:right;}
#middle{background-color:#color of rnd_crnrs_foo.gif; float:left;}

Then

HTML:

<div id="mainWrapperDivWithBGImage">
  <div id="outside_left><img src="rnd_crnrs_left.gif" /></div>
  <div id="middle">
    <div id="another_div"><img src="foo.gif" /></div>
  <div id="outside_right><img src="rnd_crnrs_right.gif" /></div>
</div>

You may have to do position:relative; and such.

Try os.system("pause") — I used it and it worked for me.

Make sure to include import os at the top of your script.

Selenium WebDriver: I want to overwrite value in field instead of appending to it with sendKeys using Java

Use this one, it is trusted solution and works well for all browsers:

protected void clearInput(WebElement webElement) {
    // isIE() - just checks is it IE or not - use your own implementation
    if (isIE() && "file".equals(webElement.getAttribute("type"))) {
        // workaround
        // if IE and input's type is file - do not try to clear it.
        // If you send:
        // - empty string - it will find file by empty path
        // - backspace char - it will process like a non-visible char
        // In both cases it will throw a bug.
        //
        // Just replace it with new value when it is need to.
    } else {
        // if you have no StringUtils in project, check value still empty yet
        while (!StringUtils.isEmpty(webElement.getAttribute("value"))) {
            // "\u0008" - is backspace char
            webElement.sendKeys("\u0008");
        }
    }
}

If input has type="file" - do not clear it for IE. It will try to find file by empty path and will throw a bug.

How to change date format (MM/DD/YY) to (YYYY-MM-DD) in date picker

You need something like this during the initialization of your datepicker:

$("#your_elements_id").datepicker({ dateFormat: 'yyyy-mm-dd' });

Can't find AVD or SDK manager in Eclipse

Chances are that you may be running your eclipse using Java 1.5.

Latest Plugin requires that the JRE be 1.6 or higher.

You will have to use Eclipse that runs on JRE 1.6

Edit: I had run into same problems. If it is not JRE problem then you can debug this. Follow below procedure:

  1. Window -> show View -> other -> Plugin Development -> Plugin Registry
  2. In the plugin registry search for com.android.ide.eclipse.adt or any other plugin related to android (depending on your installation there maybe 7-8)
  3. Select , Right Click -> Diagnose. This will show the problem why the plugin was not loaded

check the null terminating character in char*

You have used '/0' instead of '\0'. This is incorrect: the '\0' is a null character, while '/0' is a multicharacter literal.

Moreover, in C it is OK to skip a zero in your condition:

while (*(forward++)) {
    ...
}

is a valid way to check character, integer, pointer, etc. for being zero.

selecting an entire row based on a variable excel vba

I just tested the code at the bottom and it prints 16384 twice (I'm on Excel 2010) and the first row gets selected. Your problem seems to be somewhere else.

Have you tried to get rid of the selects:

Sheets("BOM").Rows(copyFromRow).Copy
With Sheets("Proposal")
    .Paste Destination:=.Rows(copyToRow)
    copyToRow = copyToRow + 1
    Application.CutCopyMode = False
    .Rows(copyToRow).Insert Shift:=xlDown, CopyOrigin:=xlFormatFromLeftOrAbove
End With

Test code to get convinced that the problem does not seem to be what you think it is.

Sub test()

  Dim r
  Dim i As Long

  i = 1

  r = Rows(i & ":" & i)
  Debug.Print UBound(r, 2)
  r = Rows(i)
  Debug.Print UBound(r, 2)
  Rows(i).Select

End Sub

Deactivate or remove the scrollbar on HTML

Meder Omuraliev suggested to use an event handler and set scrollTo(0,0). This is an example for Wassim-azirar. Bringing it all together, I assume this is the final solution.

We have 3 problems: the scrollbar, scrolling with mouse, and keyboard. This hides the scrollbar:

       html, body{overflow:hidden;}

Unfortunally, you can still scroll with the keyboard: To prevent this, we can:

    function keydownHandler(e) {
var evt = e ? e:event;
  var keyCode = evt.keyCode;

  if (keyCode==38 || keyCode==39 || keyCode==40 || keyCode==37){ //arrow keys
e.preventDefault()
scrollTo(0,0);
}
}

document.onkeydown=keydownHandler;

The scrolling with the mouse just naturally doesn't work after this code, so we have prevented the scrolling.

How to use environment variables in docker compose

Since 1.25.4, docker-compose supports the option --env-file that enables you to specify a file containing variables.

Yours should look like this:

hostname=my-host-name

And the command:

docker-compose --env-file /path/to/my-env-file config

public static const in TypeScript

You can do it using namespaces, like this:

export namespace Library {
    export const BOOK_SHELF_NONE: string = 'NONE';
}

Then you can import it from anywhere else:

import {Library} from './Library';
console.log(Library.BOOK_SHELF_NONE);

If you need a class there as well include it inside the namespace: export class Book {...}

How can I install the Beautiful Soup module on the Mac?

On advice from http://for-ref-only.blogspot.de/2012/08/installing-beautifulsoup-for-python-3.html, I used the Windows command prompt with:

C:\Python\Scripts\easy_install c:\Python\BeautifulSoup\beautifulsoup4-4.3.1

where BeautifulSoup\beautifulsoup4-4.3.1 is the downloaded and extracted beautifulsoup4-4.3.1.tar file. It works.

How to force composer to reinstall a library?

For some reason no one suggested the obvious and the most straight forward way to force re-install:

> composer remove vendor-name/package-name && composer vendor-name/package-name

How to convert JSON string to array

If you are getting the JSON string from the form using $_REQUEST, $_GET, or $_POST the you will need to use the function html_entity_decode(). I didn't realize this until I did a var_dump of what was in the request vs. what I copied into and echo statement and noticed the request string was much larger.

Correct Way:

$jsonText = $_REQUEST['myJSON'];
$decodedText = html_entity_decode($jsonText);
$myArray = json_decode($decodedText, true);

With Errors:

$jsonText = $_REQUEST['myJSON'];
$myArray = json_decode($jsonText, true);
echo json_last_error(); //Returns 4 - Syntax error;

How to call a method in MainActivity from another class?

You have to pass instance of MainActivity into another class, then you can call everything public (in MainActivity) from everywhere.

MainActivity.java

public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity {

    // Instance of AnotherClass for future use
    private AnotherClass anotherClass;

    @Override
    protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        // Create new instance of AnotherClass and
        // pass instance of MainActivity by "this"
        anotherClass = new AnotherClass(this);
    }

    // Method you want to call from another class
    public void startChronometer(){
        ...
    }
}

AnotherClass.java

public class AnotherClass {

    // Main class instance
    private MainActivity mainActivity;

    // Constructor
    public AnotherClass(MainActivity activity) {

        // Save instance of main class for future use
        mainActivity = activity;

        // Call method in MainActivity
        mainActivity.startChronometer();
    }
}

Convert Promise to Observable

You can add a wrapper around promise functionality to return an Observable to observer.

  • Creating a Lazy Observable using defer() operator which allows you to create the Observable only when the Observer subscribes.
import { of, Observable, defer } from 'rxjs';
import { map } from 'rxjs/operators';

function getTodos$(): Observable<any> {
  return defer(()=>{
    return fetch('https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/todos/1')
      .then(response => response.json())
      .then(json => {
        return json;
      })
  });
}

getTodos$().
 subscribe(
   (next)=>{
     console.log('Data is:', next);
   }
)

What had caused this error on my side was the following line

include_once dirname(__FILE__) . './Config.php';

I managed to realize it was the culprit when i added the lines:

//error_reporting(E_ALL | E_DEPRECATED | E_STRICT);
//ini_set('display_errors', 1);

to all my php files.

To solve the path issue i canged the offending line to:

include_once dirname(__FILE__) . '/Config.php';

How to Create simple drag and Drop in angularjs

I just posted this to my brand spanking new blog: http://jasonturim.wordpress.com/2013/09/01/angularjs-drag-and-drop/

Code here: https://github.com/logicbomb/lvlDragDrop

Demo here: http://logicbomb.github.io/ng-directives/drag-drop.html

Here are the directives these rely on a UUID service which I've included below:

var module = angular.module("lvl.directives.dragdrop", ['lvl.services']);

module.directive('lvlDraggable', ['$rootScope', 'uuid', function($rootScope, uuid) {
        return {
            restrict: 'A',
            link: function(scope, el, attrs, controller) {
                console.log("linking draggable element");

Environment Specific application.properties file in Spring Boot application

My Point , IN this arent way asking developer to create all environment related in single go, resulting in risk of exposing Production Configuration to end developer

as per 12-Factor, shouldnt be enviornment specific reside in Enviornment only .

How do we do for CI CD

  • Build Spring one time and promote to aother environment, in that case, if we have spring jar has all environment, it iwll security risk, having all environment variable in GIT

Rails: Why "sudo" command is not recognized?

sudo is used for Linux. It looks like you are running this in Windows.

Set focus and cursor to end of text input field / string w. Jquery

You can do this using Input.setSelectionRange, part of the Range API for interacting with text selections and the text cursor:

var searchInput = $('#Search');

// Multiply by 2 to ensure the cursor always ends up at the end;
// Opera sometimes sees a carriage return as 2 characters.
var strLength = searchInput.val().length * 2;

searchInput.focus();
searchInput[0].setSelectionRange(strLength, strLength);

Print Currency Number Format in PHP

sprintf() is the PHP function for all sorts of string formatting http://php.net/manual/en/function.sprintf.php

I use this function:

function formatDollars($dollars){
  return '$ '.sprintf('%0.2f', $dollars);
}

How to return a string from a C++ function?

string str1, str2, str3;

cout << "These are the strings: " << endl;
cout << "str1: \"the dog jumped over the fence\"" << endl;
cout << "str2: \"the\"" << endl;
cout << "str3: \"that\"" << endl << endl;

From this, I see that you have not initialized str1, str2, or str3 to contain the values that you are printing. I might suggest doing so first:

string str1 = "the dog jumped over the fence",
       str2 = "the",
       str3 = "that";

cout << "These are the strings: " << endl;
cout << "str1: \"" << str1 << "\"" << endl;
cout << "str2: \"" << str2 << "\"" << endl;
cout << "str3: \"" << str3 << "\"" << endl << endl;

How to Serialize a list in java?

As pointed out already, most standard implementations of List are serializable. However you have to ensure that the objects referenced/contained within the list are also serializable.

How are cookies passed in the HTTP protocol?

create example script as resp :

#!/bin/bash

http_code=200
mime=text/html

echo -e "HTTP/1.1 $http_code OK\r"

echo "Set-Cookie: name=F"

then make executable and execute like this.

./resp | nc -l -p 12346

open browser and browse URL: http://localhost:1236 you will see Cookie value which is sent by Browser

Importing a GitHub project into Eclipse

Using the command line is an option, and would remove the need for an Eclipse Plugin. First, create a directory to hold the project.

mkdir myGitRepo
cd myGitRepo

Clone the desired repository in the directory you just created.

git clone https://github.com/JonasHelming/gitTutorial.git

Then open Eclipse and select the directory you created (myGitRepo) as the Eclipse Workspace.

Don't worry that the Project Explorer is empty, Eclipse can't recognize the source files yet.

Lastly, create a new Java project with the exact same name as the project you pulled. In this case, it was 'gitTutorial'.

File -> New -> Java Project

At this point, the project's sub directories should contain the files pulled from Github. Take a look at the following post in my blog for a more detailed explanation.

http://brianredd.com/application/pull-java-project-from-github

Angular is automatically adding 'ng-invalid' class on 'required' fields

the accepted answer is correct.. for mobile you can also use this (ng-touched rather ng-dirty)

input.ng-invalid.ng-touched{

}

Most efficient way to find mode in numpy array

A neat solution that only uses numpy (not scipy nor the Counter class):

A = np.array([[1,3,4,2,2,7], [5,2,2,1,4,1], [3,3,2,2,1,1]])

np.apply_along_axis(lambda x: np.bincount(x).argmax(), axis=0, arr=A)

array([1, 3, 2, 2, 1, 1])

public override fun onActivityResult(requestCode: Int, resultCode: Int, data: Intent?) {}

Difference between staticmethod and classmethod

staticmethod has no access to attibutes of the object, of the class, or of parent classes in the inheritance hierarchy. It can be called at the class directly (without creating an object).

classmethod has no access to attributes of the object. It however can access attributes of the class and of parent classes in the inheritance hierarchy. It can be called at the class directly (without creating an object). If called at the object then it is the same as normal method which doesn't access self.<attribute(s)> and accesses self.__class__.<attribute(s)> only.

Think we have a class with b=2, we will create an object and re-set this to b=4 in it. Staticmethod cannot access nothing from previous. Classmethod can access .b==2 only, via cls.b. Normal method can access both: .b==4 via self.b and .b==2 via self.__class__.b.

We could follow the KISS style (keep it simple, stupid): Don't use staticmethods and classmethods, don't use classes without instantiating them, access only the object's attributes self.attribute(s). There are languages where the OOP is implemented that way and I think it is not bad idea. :)

Get column index from column name in python pandas

how about this:

df = DataFrame({"pear": [1,2,3], "apple": [2,3,4], "orange": [3,4,5]})
out = np.argwhere(df.columns.isin(['apple', 'orange'])).ravel()
print(out)
[1 2]

Spring Data: "delete by" is supported?

Derivation of delete queries using given method name is supported starting with version 1.6.0.RC1 of Spring Data JPA. The keywords remove and delete are supported. As return value one can choose between the number or a list of removed entities.

Long removeByLastname(String lastname);

List<User> deleteByLastname(String lastname);

How do I remove objects from a JavaScript associative array?

For "Arrays":

If you know the index:

array.splice(index, 1);

If you know the value:

function removeItem(array, value) {
    var index = array.indexOf(value);
    if (index > -1) {
        array.splice(index, 1);
    }
    return array;
}

The most upvoted answer for delete works well in case of objects but not for the real arrays. If I use delete it removes elements from loops but keeps the element as empty and length of array wont change. This may be a problem in some scenarios.

For example, if I do myArray.toString() on myArray after removal via delete, it creates an empty entry, i.e. ,,.

C# Regex for Guid

For C# .Net to find and replace any guid looking string from the given text,

Use this RegEx:

[({]?[a-fA-F0-9]{8}[-]?([a-fA-F0-9]{4}[-]?){3}[a-fA-F0-9]{12}[})]?

Example C# code:

var result = Regex.Replace(
      source,
      @"[({]?[a-fA-F0-9]{8}[-]?([a-fA-F0-9]{4}[-]?){3}[a-fA-F0-9]{12}[})]?",
      @"${ __UUID}",
      RegexOptions.IgnoreCase
);

Surely works! And it matches & replaces the following styles, which are all equivalent and acceptable formats for a GUID.

"aa761232bd4211cfaacd00aa0057b243"
"AA761232-BD42-11CF-AACD-00AA0057B243"
"{AA761232-BD42-11CF-AACD-00AA0057B243}"
"(AA761232-BD42-11CF-AACD-00AA0057B243)"

Creating multiline strings in JavaScript

I like this syntax and indendation:

string = 'my long string...\n'
       + 'continue here\n'
       + 'and here.';

(but actually can't be considered as multiline string)

What is the meaning of single and double underscore before an object name?

Single leading underscores is a convention. there is no difference from the interpreter's point of view if whether names starts with a single underscore or not.

Double leading and trailing underscores are used for built-in methods, such as __init__, __bool__, etc.

Double leading underscores w/o trailing counterparts are a convention too, however, the class methods will be mangled by the interpreter. For variables or basic function names no difference exists.

SQL Server: Error converting data type nvarchar to numeric

I was running into this error while converting from nvarchar to float.
What I had to do was to use the LEFT function on the nvarchar field.

Example: Left(Field,4)

Basically, the query will look like:

Select convert(float,left(Field,4)) from TABLE

Just ridiculous that SQL would complicate it to this extent, while with C# it's a breeze!
Hope it helps someone out there.

Issue with background color in JavaFX 8

Try this one in your css document,

-fx-background-color : #ffaadd;

or

-fx-base : #ffaadd;

Also, you can set background color on your object with this code directly.

yourPane.setBackground(new Background(new BackgroundFill(Color.DARKGREEN, CornerRadii.EMPTY, Insets.EMPTY)));

Log4j: How to configure simplest possible file logging?

Here's a simple one that I often use:

# Set up logging to include a file record of the output
# Note: the file is always created, even if there is
# no actual output.
log4j.rootLogger=error, stdout, R

# Log format to standard out
log4j.appender.stdout=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender
log4j.appender.stdout.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.stdout.layout.ConversionPattern=   %5p\t[%d] [%t] (%F:%L)\n     \t%m%n\n

# File based log output
log4j.appender.R=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender
log4j.appender.R.File=owls_conditions.log
log4j.appender.R.MaxFileSize=10000KB
# Keep one backup file
log4j.appender.R.MaxBackupIndex=1
log4j.appender.R.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.R.layout.ConversionPattern=   %5p\t[%d] [%t] (%F:%L)\n     \t%m%n\n

The format of the log is as follows:

ERROR   [2009-09-13 09:56:01,760] [main] (RDFDefaultErrorHandler.java:44)
        http://www.xfront.com/owl/ontologies/camera/#(line 1 column 1): Content is not allowed in prolog.

Such a format is defined by the string %5p\t[%d] [%t] (%F:%L)\n \t%m%n\n. You can read the meaning of conversion characters in log4j javadoc for PatternLayout.

Included comments should help in understanding what it does. Further notes:

  • it logs both to console and to file; in this case the file is named owls_conditions.log: change it according to your needs;
  • files are rotated when they reach 10000KB, and one back-up file is kept

Could not calculate build plan: Plugin org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-jar-plugin:2.3.2 or one of its dependencies could not be resolved

Excellent i got solution:
Just clearing (.m2) complete folder and starting a new maven project problem solved for me.

Note:: .m2 folder located in os installed disk only.
If you want the exact location, check in Eclipse:
Eclipse-->window-->preferences-->maven-->user settings
There local repository path is for .m2
Delete entire .m2 folder and restart your eclipse.

How to set background image of a view?

Besides all of the other responses here, I really don't think that using backgroundColor in this way is the proper way to do things. Personally, I would create a UIImageView and insert it into your view hierarchy. You can either insert it into your top view and push it all the way to the back with sendSubviewToBack: or you can make the UIImageView the parent view.

I wouldn't worry about things like how efficient each implementation is at this point because unless you actually see an issue, it really doesn't matter. Your first priority for now should be writing code that you can understand and can easily be changed. Creating a UIColor to use as your background image isn't the clearest method of doing this.

How to view AndroidManifest.xml from APK file?

Aapt2, included in the Android SDK build tools can do this - no third party tools needed.

$(ANDROID_SDK)/build-tools/28.0.3/aapt2 d --file AndroidManifest.xml app-foo-release.apk

Starting with build-tools v29 you have to add the command xmltree:

$(ANDROID_SDK)/build-tools/29.0.3/aapt2 d xmltree --file AndroidManifest.xml app-foo-release.apk

How to check if a python module exists without importing it

Python 3 >= 3.6: ModuleNotFoundError

The ModuleNotFoundError has been introduced in python 3.6 and can be used for this purpose

try:
    import eggs
except ModuleNotFoundError:
    # Error handling
    pass

The error is raised when a module or one of its parents cannot be found. So

try:
    import eggs.sub
except ModuleNotFoundError as err:
    # Error handling
    print(err)

would print a message that looks like No module named 'eggs' if the eggs module cannot be found; but would print something like No module named 'eggs.sub' if only the sub module couldn't be found but the eggs package could be found.

See the documentation of the import system for more info on the ModuleNotFoundError

change values in array when doing foreach

Here's a similar answer using using a => style function:

var data = [1,2,3,4];
data.forEach( (item, i, self) => self[i] = item + 10 );

gives the result:

[11,12,13,14]

The self parameter isn't strictly necessary with the arrow style function, so

data.forEach( (item,i) => data[i] = item + 10);

also works.

Does overflow:hidden applied to <body> work on iPhone Safari?

I've worked with <body>and <div class="wrapper">

When popup opens ...

<body> gets a height of 100% and an overflow:hidden

<div class="wrapper"> gets position:relative;overflow:hidden;height:100%;

I use JS/jQuery to get the actual scrollposition of the page and store the value as data-attribut to body

Then i scroll to the scrollposition in the .wrapper DIV (not in window)

Here is my solution:

JS/jQuery:

// when popup opens

$('body').attr( 'data-pos', $(window).scrollTop()); // get actual scrollpos
$('body').addClass('locked'); // add class to body
$('.wrapper').scrollTop( $('body').attr( 'data-pos' ) ); // let wrapper scroll to scrollpos

// when popup close

$("body").removeClass('locked');
$( window ).scrollTop( $('body').attr( 'data-pos' ));

CSS:

body.locked {position:relative;overflow:hidden;height:100%;}
body.locked .wrapper {position:relative;overflow:hidden;height:100%;}

It works well on both sides ... desktop & mobile (iOS).

Tipps and improvements are welcome :)

Cheers!

iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPodTouch) view real-time console log terminal

EDIT: Please use @cbowns solution - deviceconsole is compatible with iOS9 and much easier to use.

This is a open-source program that displays the iDevice's system log in Terminal (in a manner similar to tail -F). No jailbreak is required, and the output is fully grep'able so you can filter to see output from your program only. What's particularly good about this solution is you can view the log whether or not the app was launched in debug mode from XCode.

Up pops a real-time display of the device's system log.

With it being a console app, you can filter the log using unix commands, such as grep

For instance, see all log messages from a particular app:

idevicesyslog | grep myappname

Difference between Return and Break statements

Break will only stop the loop while return inside a loop will stop the loop and return from the function.

How to make a div 100% height of the browser window

Stupidly easy solution which supports cross-domain and also supports browser re-size.

<div style="height: 100vh;">
   <iframe src="..." width="100%" height="80%"></iframe>
</div>

Adjust the iframe height property as required (leave the div height property at 100vh).

Why 80%? In my real-world scenario I have a header inside the div, before the iframe, which consumes some vertical space - so I set the iframe to use 80% instead of 100% (otherwise it would be the height of the containing div, but start after the header, and overflow out the bottom of the div).

How to close existing connections to a DB

You can use Cursor like that:

USE master
GO

DECLARE @SQL AS VARCHAR(255)
DECLARE @SPID AS SMALLINT
DECLARE @Database AS VARCHAR(500)
SET @Database = 'AdventureWorks2016CTP3'

DECLARE Murderer CURSOR FOR
SELECT spid FROM sys.sysprocesses WHERE DB_NAME(dbid) = @Database

OPEN Murderer

FETCH NEXT FROM Murderer INTO @SPID
WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0

    BEGIN
    SET @SQL = 'Kill ' + CAST(@SPID AS VARCHAR(10)) + ';'
    EXEC (@SQL)
    PRINT  ' Process ' + CAST(@SPID AS VARCHAR(10)) +' has been killed'
    FETCH NEXT FROM Murderer INTO @SPID
    END

CLOSE Murderer
DEALLOCATE Murderer

I wrote about that in my blog here: http://www.pigeonsql.com/single-post/2016/12/13/Kill-all-connections-on-DB-by-Cursor

Get all rows from SQLite

public List<String> getAllData(String email)
{

    db = this.getReadableDatabase();
    String[] projection={email};

    List<String> list=new ArrayList<>();

    Cursor cursor = db.query(TABLE_USER, //Table to query
            null,    //columns to return
            "user_email=?", //columns for the WHERE clause
            projection, //The values for the WHERE clause
            null,       //group the rows
            null,       //filter by row groups
            null);
    //  cursor.moveToFirst();

    if (cursor.moveToFirst()) {
        do {

            list.add(cursor.getString(cursor.getColumnIndex("user_id")));
            list.add(cursor.getString(cursor.getColumnIndex("user_name")));
            list.add(cursor.getString(cursor.getColumnIndex("user_email")));
            list.add(cursor.getString(cursor.getColumnIndex("user_password")));
            // cursor.moveToNext();

        } while (cursor.moveToNext());
    }
    return list;
}

With CSS, use "..." for overflowed block of multi-lines

There are also several jquery plugins that deal with this issue, but many do not handle multiple lines of text. Following works:

There also some preformance tests.

How do I execute external program within C code in linux with arguments?

For a simple way, use system():

#include <stdlib.h>
...
int status = system("./foo 1 2 3");

system() will wait for foo to complete execution, then return a status variable which you can use to check e.g. exitcode (the command's exitcode gets multiplied by 256, so divide system()'s return value by that to get the actual exitcode: int exitcode = status / 256).

The manpage for wait() (in section 2, man 2 wait on your Linux system) lists the various macros you can use to examine the status, the most interesting ones would be WIFEXITED and WEXITSTATUS.

Alternatively, if you need to read foo's standard output, use popen(3), which returns a file pointer (FILE *); interacting with the command's standard input/output is then the same as reading from or writing to a file.

How to add a new row to datagridview programmatically

I have found this useful more than once when the DataGrid is bound to a table.

        DataTable dt = (DataTable)dgvData.DataSource;
        DataRow row = dt.NewRow();
        foreach (var something in something)
        {
           row["ColumnName"] = something ;
        }
        dt.Rows.Add(row);
        dgvData.DataSource = dt;

When you set maven scope as provided, it means that when the plugin runs, the actual dependencies version used will depend on the version of Apache Maven you have installed.

React ignores 'for' attribute of the label element

Yes, for react,

for becomes htmlFor

class becomes className

etc.

Undefined symbols for architecture i386

At the risk of sounding obvious, always check the spelling of your forward class files. Sometimes XCode (at least XCode 4.3.2) will turn a declaration green that's actually camel cased incorrectly. Like in this example:

"_OBJC_CLASS_$_RadioKit", referenced from:
  objc-class-ref in RadioPlayerViewController.o

If RadioKit was a class file and you make it a property of another file, in the interface declaration, you might see that

Radiokit *rk;

has "Radiokit" in green when the actual decalaration should be:

RadioKit *rk;

This error will also throw this type of error. Another example (in my case), is when you have _iPhone and _iphone extensions on your class names for universal apps. Once I changed the appropriate file from _iphone to the correct _iPhone, the errors went away.

How to allow download of .json file with ASP.NET

When adding support for mimetype (as suggested by @ProVega) then it is also best practice to remove the type before adding it - this is to prevent unexpected errors when deploying to servers where support for the type already exists, for example:

<staticContent>
    <remove fileExtension=".json" />
    <mimeMap fileExtension=".json" mimeType="application/json" />
</staticContent>

How to execute a Ruby script in Terminal?

To call ruby file use : ruby your_program.rb

To execute your ruby file as script:

  1. start your program with #!/usr/bin/env ruby

  2. run that script using ./your_program.rb param

  3. If you are not able to execute this script check permissions for file.

HTML checkbox onclick called in Javascript

Label without an onclick will behave as you would expect. It changes the input. What you relly want is to execute selectAll() when you click on a label, right? Then only add select all to the label onclick. Or wrap the input into the the label and assign onclick only for the label

<label for="check_all_1" onclick="selectAll(document.wizard_form, this);">
  <input type="checkbox" id="check_all_1" name="check_all_1" title="Select All">
  Select All
</label>

Split string with PowerShell and do something with each token

To complement Justus Thane's helpful answer:

  • As Joey notes in a comment, PowerShell has a powerful, regex-based -split operator.

    • In its unary form (-split '...'), -split behaves like awk's default field splitting, which means that:
      • Leading and trailing whitespace is ignored.
      • Any run of whitespace (e.g., multiple adjacent spaces) is treated as a single separator.
  • In PowerShell v4+ an expression-based - and therefore faster - alternative to the ForEach-Object cmdlet became available: the .ForEach() array (collection) method, as described in this blog post (alongside the .Where() method, a more powerful, expression-based alternative to Where-Object).

Here's a solution based on these features:

PS> (-split '   One      for the money   ').ForEach({ "token: [$_]" })
token: [One]
token: [for]
token: [the]
token: [money]

Note that the leading and trailing whitespace was ignored, and that the multiple spaces between One and for were treated as a single separator.

Using openssl to get the certificate from a server

With SNI

If the remote server is using SNI (that is, sharing multiple SSL hosts on a single IP address) you will need to send the correct hostname in order to get the right certificate.

openssl s_client -showcerts -servername www.example.com -connect www.example.com:443 </dev/null

Without SNI

If the remote server is not using SNI, then you can skip -servername parameter:

openssl s_client -showcerts -connect www.example.com:443 </dev/null

To view the full details of a site's cert you can use this chain of commands as well:

$ echo | \
    openssl s_client -servername www.example.com -connect www.example.com:443 2>/dev/null | \
    openssl x509 -text

Select all DIV text with single mouse click

There is pure CSS4 solution:

.selectable{
    -webkit-touch-callout: all; /* iOS Safari */
    -webkit-user-select: all; /* Safari */
    -khtml-user-select: all; /* Konqueror HTML */
    -moz-user-select: all; /* Firefox */
    -ms-user-select: all; /* Internet Explorer/Edge */
    user-select: all; /* Chrome and Opera */

}

user-select is a CSS Module Level 4 specification, that is currently a draft and non-standard CSS property, but browsers support it well — see #search=user-select.

Arrays.asList() of an array

This works from Java 5 to 7:

public int getTheNumber(Integer... factors) {
    ArrayList<Integer> f = new ArrayList<Integer>(Arrays.asList(factors));
    Collections.sort(f);
    return f.get(0)*f.get(f.size()-1);
}

In Java 4 there is no vararg... :-)

Adding files to java classpath at runtime

Yes I believe it's possible but you might have to implement your own classloader. I have never done it but that is the path I would probably look at.

Force git stash to overwrite added files

To force git stash pop run this command

git stash show -p | git apply && git stash drop

The program can't start because cygwin1.dll is missing... in Eclipse CDT

You can compile with either Cygwin's g++ or MinGW (via stand-alone or using Cygwin package). However, in order to run it, you need to add the Cygwin1.dll (and others) PATH to the system Windows PATH, before any cygwin style paths.

Thus add: ;C:\cygwin64\bin to the end of your Windows system PATH variable.

Also, to compile for use in CMD or PowerShell, you may need to use:

x86_64-w64-mingw32-g++.exe -static -std=c++11 prog_name.cc -o prog_name.exe

(This invokes the cross-compiler, if installed.)

matplotlib colorbar in each subplot

Try to use the func below to add colorbar:

def add_colorbar(mappable):
    from mpl_toolkits.axes_grid1 import make_axes_locatable
    import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
    last_axes = plt.gca()
    ax = mappable.axes
    fig = ax.figure
    divider = make_axes_locatable(ax)
    cax = divider.append_axes("right", size="5%", pad=0.05)
    cbar = fig.colorbar(mappable, cax=cax)
    plt.sca(last_axes)
    return cbar

Then you codes need to be modified as:

fig , ( (ax1,ax2) , (ax3,ax4)) = plt.subplots(2, 2,sharex = True,sharey=True)
z1_plot = ax1.scatter(x,y,c = z1,vmin=0.0,vmax=0.4)
add_colorbar(z1_plot)

How do you share code between projects/solutions in Visual Studio?

visual studio 2010. Now declare your function as public in first_dll.h file and
write the code in first_dll.cpp file as shown below.

Header File code

// first_dll.h

using namespace System;

namespace first_dll
{

public ref class Class1
{
public:
    static double sum(int ,int );
    // TODO: Add your methods for this class here.
};
}

Cpp File

//first_dll.cpp
#include "stdafx.h"

#include "first_dll.h"

namespace first_dll
{

    double Class1:: sum(int x,int y)
    {
        return x+y;
    }

 }

Check This

**Project-> Properties -> Configuration/General -> Configuration Type**

this option should be Dynamic Library(.dll) and build the solution/project now.

first_dll.dll file is created in Debug folder

2- Linking it in C# project

Open C# project

Rightclick on project name in solution explorer -> Add -> References -> Browse to path
where first_dll.dll is created and add the file.

Add this line at top in C# project

Using first_dll;

Now function from dll can be accessed using below statement in some function

double var = Class1.sum(4,5);

I created dll in c++ project in VS2010 and used it in VS2013 C# project.It works well.

String field value length in mongoDB

I had a similar kind of scenario, but in my case string is not a 1st level attribute. It is inside an object. In here I couldn't find a suitable answer for it. So I thought to share my solution with you all(Hope this will help anyone with a similar kind of problem).

Parent Collection

{
"Child":
{
"name":"Random Name",
"Age:"09"
}
}

Ex: If we need to get only collections that having child's name's length is higher than 10 characters.

 db.getCollection('Parent').find({$where: function() {
for (var field in this.Child.name) {
    if (this.Child.name.length > 10)
        return true;

}
}})

Get timezone from DateTime

DateTime does not know its timezone offset. There is no built-in method to return the offset or the timezone name (e.g. EAT, CEST, EST etc).

Like suggested by others, you can convert your date to UTC:

DateTime localtime = new DateTime.Now;
var utctime = localtime.ToUniversalTime();

and then only calculate the difference:

TimeSpan difference = localtime - utctime;

Also you may convert one time to another by using the DateTimeOffset:

DateTimeOffset targetTime = DateTimeOffset.Now.ToOffset(new TimeSpan(5, 30, 0));

But this is sort of lossy compression - the offset alone cannot tell you which time zone it is as two different countries may be in different time zones and have the same time only for part of the year (eg. South Africa and Europe). Also, be aware that summer daylight saving time may be introduced at different dates (EST vs CET - a 3-week difference).

You can get the name of your local system time zone using TimeZoneInfo class:

TimeZoneInfo localZone = TimeZoneInfo.Local;
localZone.IsDaylightSavingTime(localtime) ? localZone.DaylightName : localZone.StandardName

I agree with Gerrie Schenck, please read the article he suggested.

Check if element at position [x] exists in the list

Get UserDetails object from Security Context in Spring MVC controller

That's another solution (Spring Security 3):

public String getLoggedUser() throws Exception {
    String name = SecurityContextHolder.getContext().getAuthentication().getName();
    return (!name.equals("anonymousUser")) ? name : null;
}

What's the proper way to install pip, virtualenv, and distribute for Python?

I've had various problems (see below) installing upgraded SSL modules, even inside a virtualenv, on top of older OS-provided Python versions, so I now use pyenv.

pyenv makes it very easy to install new Python versions and supports virtualenvs. Getting started is much easier than the recipes for virtualenv listed in other answers:

  • On Mac, type brew install pyenv and on Linux, use pyenv-installer
  • this gets you built-in virtualenv support as well as Python version switching (if required)
  • works well with Python 2 or 3, can have many versions installed at once

This works very well to insulate the "new Python" version and virtualenv from system Python. Because you can easily use a more recent Python (post 2.7.9), the SSL modules are already upgraded, and of course like any modern virtualenv setup you are insulated from the system Python modules.

A couple of nice tutorials:

The pyenv-virtualenv plugin is now built in - type pyenv commands | grep virtualenv to check. I wouldn't use the pyenv-virtualenvwrapper plugin to start with - see how you get on with pyenv-virtualenv which is more integrated into pyenv, as this covers most of what virtualenvwrapper does.

pyenv is modelled on rbenv (a good tool for Ruby version switching) and its only dependency is bash.

  • pyenv is unrelated to the very similarly named pyvenv - that is a virtualenv equivalent that's part of recent Python 3 versions, and doesn't handle Python version switching

Caveats

Two warnings about pyenv:

  1. It only works from a bash or similar shell - or more specifically, the pyenv-virtualenv plugin doesn't like dash, which is /bin/sh on Ubuntu or Debian.
  2. It must be run from an interactive login shell (e.g. bash --login using a terminal), which is not always easy to achieve with automation tools such as Ansible.

Hence pyenv is best for interactive use, and less good for scripting servers.

Older distributions - SSL module problems

One reason to use pyenv was that there were often problems with upgrading Python SSL modules when using older system-provided Python versions. This may be less of a problem now that current Linux distributions support Python 3.x.

CSS Child vs Descendant selectors

Yes, you are correct. div p will match the following example, but div > p will not.

<div><table><tr><td><p> <!...

The first one is called descendant selector and the second one is called child selector.

"git pull" or "git merge" between master and development branches

Be careful with rebase. If you're sharing your develop branch with anybody, rebase can make a mess of things. Rebase is good only for your own local branches.

Rule of thumb, if you've pushed the branch to origin, don't use rebase. Instead, use merge.

Return current date plus 7 days

If it's 7 days from now that you're looking for, just put:

$date = strtotime("+7 day", time());
echo date('M d, Y', $date);

ReactJS map through Object

You get this error because your variable subjects is an Object not Array, you can use map() only for Array.

In case of mapping object you can do this:

{
    Object.keys(subjects).map((item, i) => (
        <li className="travelcompany-input" key={i}>
            <span className="input-label">{ subjects[item].name }</span>
        </li>
    ))
}

Select distinct values from a table field

Say your model is 'Shop'

class Shop(models.Model):
    street = models.CharField(max_length=150)
    city = models.CharField(max_length=150)

    # some of your models may have explicit ordering
    class Meta:
        ordering = ('city')

Since you may have the Meta class ordering attribute set, you can use order_by() without parameters to clear any ordering when using distinct(). See the documentation under order_by()

If you don’t want any ordering to be applied to a query, not even the default ordering, call order_by() with no parameters.

and distinct() in the note where it discusses issues with using distinct() with ordering.

To query your DB, you just have to call:

models.Shop.objects.order_by().values('city').distinct()

It returns a dictionnary

or

models.Shop.objects.order_by().values_list('city').distinct()

This one returns a ValuesListQuerySet which you can cast to a list. You can also add flat=True to values_list to flatten the results.

How do you get a list of the names of all files present in a directory in Node.js?

As of Node v10.10.0, it is possible to use the new withFileTypes option for fs.readdir and fs.readdirSync in combination with the dirent.isDirectory() function to filter for filenames in a directory. That looks like this:

fs.readdirSync('./dirpath', {withFileTypes: true})
.filter(item => !item.isDirectory())
.map(item => item.name)

The returned array is in the form:

['file1.txt', 'file2.txt', 'file3.txt']

Entity framework linq query Include() multiple children entities

EF 4.1 to EF 6

There is a strongly typed .Include which allows the required depth of eager loading to be specified by providing Select expressions to the appropriate depth:

using System.Data.Entity; // NB!

var company = context.Companies
                     .Include(co => co.Employees.Select(emp => emp.Employee_Car))
                     .Include(co => co.Employees.Select(emp => emp.Employee_Country))
                     .FirstOrDefault(co => co.companyID == companyID);

The Sql generated is by no means intuitive, but seems performant enough. I've put a small example on GitHub here

EF Core

EF Core has a new extension method, .ThenInclude(), although the syntax is slightly different:

var company = context.Companies
                     .Include(co => co.Employees)
                           .ThenInclude(emp => emp.Employee_Car)
                     .Include(co => co.Employees)
                           .ThenInclude(emp => emp.Employee_Country)

With some notes

  • As per above (Employees.Employee_Car and Employees.Employee_Country), if you need to include 2 or more child properties of an intermediate child collection, you'll need to repeat the .Include navigation for the collection for each child of the collection.
  • As per the docs, I would keep the extra 'indent' in the .ThenInclude to preserve your sanity.

How to destroy a DOM element with jQuery?

Not sure if it's just me, but using .remove() doesn't seem to work if you are selecting by an id.

Ex: $("#my-element").remove();

I had to use the element's class instead, or nothing happened.

Ex: $(".my-element").remove();

Twitter-Bootstrap-2 logo image on top of navbar

You have to also add the "navbar-brand" class to your image a container, also you have to include it inside the .navbar-inner container, like so:

 <div class="navbar navbar-fixed-top">
   <div class="navbar-inner">
     <div class="container">
        <a class="navbar-brand" href="index.html"> <img src="images/57x57x300.jpg"></a>
     </div>
   </div>
 </div>

How to get the instance id from within an ec2 instance?

Use the /dynamic/instance-identity/document URL if you also need to query more than just your instance ID.

wget -q -O - http://169.254.169.254/latest/dynamic/instance-identity/document

This will get you JSON data such as this - with only a single request.

How to use makefiles in Visual Studio?

Makefiles and build files are about automating your build. If you use a script like MSBuild or NAnt, you can build your project or solution directly from command line. This in turn makes it possible to automate the build, have it run by a build server.

Besides building your solution it is typical that a build script includes task to run unit tests, report code coverage and complexity and more.

Navigate to another page with a button in angular 2

You can use routerLink in the following manner,

<input type="button" value="Add Bulk Enquiry" [routerLink]="['../addBulkEnquiry']" class="btn">

or use <button [routerLink]="['./url']"> in your case, for more info you could read the entire stacktrace on github https://github.com/angular/angular/issues/9471

the other methods are also correct but they create a dependency on the component file.

Hope your concern is resolved.

Mapping list in Yaml to list of objects in Spring Boot

I had much issues with this one too. I finally found out what's the final deal.

Referring to @Gokhan Oner answer, once you've got your Service class and the POJO representing your object, your YAML config file nice and lean, if you use the annotation @ConfigurationProperties, you have to explicitly get the object for being able to use it. Like :

@ConfigurationProperties(prefix = "available-payment-channels-list")
//@Configuration <- you don't specificly need this, instead you're doing something else
public class AvailableChannelsConfiguration {

    private String xyz;
    //initialize arraylist
    private List<ChannelConfiguration> channelConfigurations = new ArrayList<>();

    public AvailableChannelsConfiguration() {
        for(ChannelConfiguration current : this.getChannelConfigurations()) {
            System.out.println(current.getName()); //TADAAA
        }
    }

    public List<ChannelConfiguration> getChannelConfigurations() {
        return this.channelConfigurations;
    }

    public static class ChannelConfiguration {
        private String name;
        private String companyBankAccount;
    }

}

And then here you go. It's simple as hell, but we have to know that we must call the object getter. I was waiting at initialization, wishing the object was being built with the value but no. Hope it helps :)

Get client IP address via third party web service

    $.ajax({
        url: '//freegeoip.net/json/',

        }
    });

This will work https too

Open popup and refresh parent page on close popup

window.open will return a reference to the newly created window, provided the URL opened complies with Same Origin Policy.

This should work:

}

var foo = window.open("foo.html","windowName", "width=200,height=200,scrollbars=no");
foo.onbeforeunload= windowClose;?

Launch custom android application from android browser

Felix's approach to handling deep links is the typical approach to handling deep links. I would also suggest checking out this library to handle the routing and parsing of your deep links:

https://github.com/airbnb/DeepLinkDispatch

You can use annotations to register your Activity for a particular deep link URI, and it will extract out the parameters for you without having to do the usual rigmarole of getting the path segments, matching it, etc. You could simply annotate and activity like this:

@DeepLink("somePath/{someParameter1}/{someParameter2}")
public class MainActivity extends Activity {
   ...
}

SQL Server: What is the difference between CROSS JOIN and FULL OUTER JOIN?

I'd like to add one important aspect to other answers, which actually explained this topic to me in the best way:

If 2 joined tables contain M and N rows, then cross join will always produce (M x N) rows, but full outer join will produce from MAX(M,N) to (M + N) rows (depending on how many rows actually match "on" predicate).

EDIT:

From logical query processing perspective, CROSS JOIN does indeed always produce M x N rows. What happens with FULL OUTER JOIN is that both left and right tables are "preserved", as if both LEFT and RIGHT join happened. So rows, not satisfying ON predicate, from both left and right tables are added to the result set.

MySQL DROP all tables, ignoring foreign keys

I use the following with a MSSQL server:

if (DB_NAME() = 'YOUR_DATABASE')
begin
    while(exists(select 1 from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLE_CONSTRAINTS where CONSTRAINT_TYPE='FOREIGN KEY'))
    begin
         declare @sql nvarchar(2000)
         SELECT TOP 1 @sql=('ALTER TABLE ' + TABLE_SCHEMA + '.[' + TABLE_NAME + '] DROP CONSTRAINT [' + CONSTRAINT_NAME + ']')
         FROM information_schema.table_constraints
         WHERE CONSTRAINT_TYPE = 'FOREIGN KEY'
         exec (@sql)
         PRINT @sql
    end

    while(exists(select 1 from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES))
    begin
         declare @sql2 nvarchar(2000)
         SELECT TOP 1 @sql2=('DROP TABLE ' + TABLE_SCHEMA + '.[' + TABLE_NAME + ']')
         FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES
        exec (@sql2)
        PRINT @sql2
    end
end
else
    print('Only run this script on the development server!!!!')

Replace YOUR_DATABASE with the name of your database or remove the entire IF statement (I like the added safety).

Use space as a delimiter with cut command

I have an answer (I admit somewhat confusing answer) that involvessed, regular expressions and capture groups:

  • \S* - first word
  • \s* - delimiter
  • (\S*) - second word - captured
  • .* - rest of the line

As a sed expression, the capture group needs to be escaped, i.e. \( and \).

The \1 returns a copy of the captured group, i.e. the second word.

$ echo "alpha beta gamma delta" | sed 's/\S*\s*\(\S*\).*/\1/'
beta

When you look at this answer, its somewhat confusing, and, you may think, why bother? Well, I'm hoping that some, may go "Aha!" and will use this pattern to solve some complex text extraction problems with a single sed expression.

C++ cast to derived class

dynamic_cast should be what you are looking for.

EDIT:

DerivedType m_derivedType = m_baseType; // gives same error

The above appears to be trying to invoke the assignment operator, which is probably not defined on type DerivedType and accepting a type of BaseType.

DerivedType * m_derivedType = (DerivedType*) & m_baseType; // gives same error

You are on the right path here but the usage of the dynamic_cast will attempt to safely cast to the supplied type and if it fails, a NULL will be returned.

Going on memory here, try this (but note the cast will return NULL as you are casting from a base type to a derived type):

DerivedType * m_derivedType = dynamic_cast<DerivedType*>(&m_baseType);

If m_baseType was a pointer and actually pointed to a type of DerivedType, then the dynamic_cast should work.

Hope this helps!

How to convert int to string on Arduino?

Here below is a self composed myitoa() which is by far smaller in code, and reserves a FIXED array of 7 (including terminating 0) in char *mystring, which is often desirable. It is obvious that one can build the code with character-shift instead, if one need a variable-length output-string.

void myitoa(int number, char *mystring) {
  boolean negative = number>0;

  mystring[0] = number<0? '-' : '+';
  number = number<0 ? -number : number;

     if(number > 0) mystring[n] = number%10 + 48;
     number /= 10;
  }

Determine direct shared object dependencies of a Linux binary?

The objdump tool can tell you this information. If you invoke objdump with the -x option, to get it to output all headers then you'll find the shared object dependencies right at the start in the "Dynamic Section".

For example running objdump -x /usr/lib/libXpm.so.4 on my system gives the following information in the "Dynamic Section":

Dynamic Section:
  NEEDED               libX11.so.6
  NEEDED               libc.so.6
  SONAME               libXpm.so.4
  INIT                 0x0000000000002450
  FINI                 0x000000000000e0e8
  GNU_HASH             0x00000000000001f0
  STRTAB               0x00000000000011a8
  SYMTAB               0x0000000000000470
  STRSZ                0x0000000000000813

  PLTGOT               0x000000000020ffe8
  PLTRELSZ             0x00000000000005e8
  PLTREL               0x0000000000000007
  JMPREL               0x0000000000001e68
  RELA                 0x0000000000001b38
  RELASZ               0x0000000000000330
  RELAENT              0x0000000000000018
  VERNEED              0x0000000000001ad8
  VERNEEDNUM           0x0000000000000001

  RELACOUNT            0x000000000000001b

The direct shared object dependencies are listing as 'NEEDED' values. So in the example above, libXpm.so.4 on my system just needs libX11.so.6 and libc.so.6.

It's important to note that this doesn't mean that all the symbols needed by the binary being passed to objdump will be present in the libraries, but it does at least show what libraries the loader will try to load when loading the binary.

Simulate a button click in Jest

You may use something like this to call the handler written on click:

import { shallow } from 'enzyme'; // Mount is not required

page = <MyCoolPage />;
pageMounted = shallow(page);

// The below line will execute your click function
pageMounted.instance().yourOnClickFunction();

Subset a dataframe by multiple factor levels

You can use %in%

  data[data$Code %in% selected,]
  Code Value
1    A     1
2    B     2
7    A     3
8    A     4

How to choose the id generation strategy when using JPA and Hibernate

The API Doc are very clear on this.

All generators implement the interface org.hibernate.id.IdentifierGenerator. This is a very simple interface. Some applications can choose to provide their own specialized implementations, however, Hibernate provides a range of built-in implementations. The shortcut names for the built-in generators are as follows:

increment

generates identifiers of type long, short or int that are unique only when no other process is inserting data into the same table. Do not use in a cluster.

identity

supports identity columns in DB2, MySQL, MS SQL Server, Sybase and HypersonicSQL. The returned identifier is of type long, short or int.

sequence

uses a sequence in DB2, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SAP DB, McKoi or a generator in Interbase. The returned identifier is of type long, short or int

hilo

uses a hi/lo algorithm to efficiently generate identifiers of type long, short or int, given a table and column (by default hibernate_unique_key and next_hi respectively) as a source of hi values. The hi/lo algorithm generates identifiers that are unique only for a particular database.

seqhilo

uses a hi/lo algorithm to efficiently generate identifiers of type long, short or int, given a named database sequence.

uuid

uses a 128-bit UUID algorithm to generate identifiers of type string that are unique within a network (the IP address is used). The UUID is encoded as a string of 32 hexadecimal digits in length.

guid

uses a database-generated GUID string on MS SQL Server and MySQL.

native

selects identity, sequence or hilo depending upon the capabilities of the underlying database.

assigned

lets the application assign an identifier to the object before save() is called. This is the default strategy if no element is specified.

select

retrieves a primary key, assigned by a database trigger, by selecting the row by some unique key and retrieving the primary key value.

foreign

uses the identifier of another associated object. It is usually used in conjunction with a primary key association.

sequence-identity

a specialized sequence generation strategy that utilizes a database sequence for the actual value generation, but combines this with JDBC3 getGeneratedKeys to return the generated identifier value as part of the insert statement execution. This strategy is only supported on Oracle 10g drivers targeted for JDK 1.4. Comments on these insert statements are disabled due to a bug in the Oracle drivers.

If you are building a simple application with not much concurrent users, you can go for increment, identity, hilo etc.. These are simple to configure and did not need much coding inside the db.

You should choose sequence or guid depending on your database. These are safe and better because the id generation will happen inside the database.

Update: Recently we had an an issue with idendity where primitive type (int) this was fixed by using warapper type (Integer) instead.

How do I turn off the mysql password validation?

Further to the answer from ktbos:

I modified the mysqld.cnf file and mysql failed to start. It turned out that I was modifying the wrong file!

So be sure the file you modify contains segment tags like [mysqld_safe] and [mysqld]. Under the latter I did as suggested and added the line:

validate_password_policy=LOW

This worked perfectly to resolve my issue of not requiring special characters within the password.
