Using the constraints features UniqueConstraint is preferred over unique_together.

I recommend PyInstaller, a simple python script can be converted to an exe with the following commands:

utils/Makespec.py [--onefile] oldlogs.py

which creates a yourprogram.spec file which is a configuration for building the final exe. Next command builds the exe from the configuration file:

To create an option that needs no value, set the action ^[docs] of it to 'store_const', 'store_true' or 'store_false'.

There is a common pattern for doing a really heavy computation in Node that may be applicable to you...

Node is single-threaded (as a deliberate design choice, see What is Node.js?); this means that it can only utilize a single core. Modern boxes have 8, 16, or even more cores, so this could leave 90+% of the machine idle. The common pattern for a REST service is to fire up one node process per core, and put these behind a local load balancer like http://nginx.org/.

Forking a child - For what you are trying to do, there is another common pattern, forking off a child process to do the heavy lifting. The upside is that the child process can do heavy computation in the background while your parent process is responsive to other events. The catch is that you can't / shouldn't share memory with this child process (not without a LOT of contortions and some native code); you have to pass messages. This will work beautifully if the size of your input and output data is small compared to the computation that must be performed. You can even fire up a child node.js process and use the same code you were using previously.

A "C-program" is not supposed to be run. It is meant to be compiled into an "executable" program which then can be run from your terminal. You need a compiler for that.

Oh, and the answer to your last question ("Why?") is that the file you are trying to execute doesn't have the executable rights set (which a compiler usually does automatically with the binary, which let's infer that you were trying to run the source code as a script, hence the hint at compiling.)

The term "JPEG" is an acronym for the Joint Photographic Experts Group, which created the standard. .jpeg and .jpg files are identical. JPEG images are identified with 6 different standard file name extensions:

You want the :checkbox:checked selector and map to create an array of the values:

A static block executes once in the life cycle of any program, another property of static block is that it executes before the main method.

Another reason could be because the filepath is empty where you are trying to write which is why it can't find it. just another reason why this error occurs.

git branch --set-upstream <remote-branch>

sets the default remote branch for the current local branch.

Any future git pull command (with the current local branch checked-out),
will attempt to bring in commits from the <remote-branch> into the current local branch.

If you want the length of the character array use sizeof(array)/sizeof(array[0]), if you want the length of the string use strlen(array).

It is matter of performance and memory usage, compile and keep the complied pattern if you need to use it a lot. A typical usage of regex is to validated user input (format), and also format output data for users, in these classes, saving the complied pattern, seems quite logical as they usually called a lot.

As mentioned by @Alan Moore, if you have reusable regex in your code, (before a loop for example), you must compile and save pattern for reuse.

During these peak CPU times, what is the user load like? You say this is a web based application, so the culprits that come to mind is memory utilization issues. If you store a lot of stuff in the session, for instance, and the session count gets high enough, the app server will start thrashing about. This is also a case where the GC might make matters worse depending on the scheme you are using. More information about the app and the server configuration would be helpful in pointing towards more debugging ideas.

There's a nice article with code on this topic on MSDN. I'm assuming that setting the Style property to ProgressBarStyle.Marquee is not appropriate (or is that what you are trying to control?? -- I don't think it is possible to stop/start this animation although you can control the speed as @Paul indicates).

As ping works, but telnetto port 80 does not, the HTTP port 80 is closed on your machine. I assume that your browser's HTTP connection goes through a proxy (as browsing works, how else would you read stackoverflow?). You need to add some code to your python program, that handles the proxy, like described here:

You pass the form name as an array and then you can access all checked boxes using the var itself which would then be an array.

vw and vh stand for viewport width and viewport height respectively.

The difference between using width: 100vw instead of width: 100% is that while 100% will make the element fit all the space available, the viewport width has a specific measure, in this case the width of the available screen, including the document margin.

If you set the style body { margin: 0 }, 100vw should behave the same as 100%.

Additional notes

Using vw as unit for everything in your website, including font sizes and heights, will make it so that the site is always displayed proportionally to the device's screen width regardless of it's resolution. This makes it super easy to ensure your website is displayed properly in both workstation and mobile.

You can set font-size: 1vw (or whatever size suits your project) in your body CSS and everything specified in rem units will automatically scale according to the device screen, so it's easy to port existing projects and even frameworks (such as Bootstrap) to this concept.

Such debugging is part of the development process and should not be the issue at runtime.

Methods don't trust other methods. They all trust you. That is the process of developing. Fix all bugs. Then methods don't have to "trust". There should be no doubt.

After reading this and after I did some research about the possibilities, I came up with a slightly different approach to restrict data usage by unauthorised users:

I save my users in my DB too (and save the profile data in there). So i just set the db rules like this:

For those I have seen the algorithms are quite simple, just find the core element and then repeat it over and over. I do it with recursive functions, but can be done differently.

To copy dirs, it seems you can use adb pull <remote> <local> if you want to copy file/dir from device, and adb push <local> <remote> to copy file/dir to device. Alternatively, just to copy a file, you can use a simple trick: cat source_file > dest_file. Note that this does not work for user-inaccessible paths.

To edit files, I have not found a simple solution, just some possible workarounds. Try this, it seems you can (after the setup) use it to edit files like busybox vi <filename>. Nano seems to be possible to use too.

Reviewing the basic terminology

It's usually good enough - unless you're programming assembly - to envisage a pointer containing a numeric memory address, with 1 referring to the second byte in the process's memory, 2 the third, 3 the fourth and so on....

• What happened to 0 and the first byte? Well, we'll get to that later - see null pointers below.
• For a more accurate definition of what pointers store, and how memory and addresses relate, see "More about memory addresses, and why you probably don't need to know" at the end of this answer.

When you want to access the data/value in the memory that the pointer points to - the contents of the address with that numerical index - then you dereference the pointer.

Different computer languages have different notations to tell the compiler or interpreter that you're now interested in the pointed-to object's (current) value - I focus below on C and C++.

A pointer scenario

Consider in C, given a pointer such as p below...

const char* p = "abc";

...four bytes with the numerical values used to encode the letters 'a', 'b', 'c', and a 0 byte to denote the end of the textual data, are stored somewhere in memory and the numerical address of that data is stored in p. This way C encodes text in memory is known as ASCIIZ.

For example, if the string literal happened to be at address 0x1000 and p a 32-bit pointer at 0x2000, the memory content would be:

Note that there is no variable name/identifier for address 0x1000, but we can indirectly refer to the string literal using a pointer storing its address: p.

Dereferencing the pointer

To refer to the characters p points to, we dereference p using one of these notations (again, for C):

You can also move pointers through the pointed-to data, dereferencing them as you go:

If you have some data that can be written to, then you can do things like this:

Above, you must have known at compile time that you would need a variable called x, and the code asks the compiler to arrange where it should be stored, ensuring the address will be available via &x.

Dereferencing and accessing a structure data member

In C, if you have a variable that is a pointer to a structure with data members, you can access those members using the -> dereferencing operator:

Multi-byte data types

To use a pointer, a computer program also needs some insight into the type of data that is being pointed at - if that data type needs more than one byte to represent, then the pointer normally points to the lowest-numbered byte in the data.

So, looking at a slightly more complex example:

Pointers to dynamically allocated memory

Sometimes you don't know how much memory you'll need until your program is running and sees what data is thrown at it... then you can dynamically allocate memory using malloc. It is common practice to store the address in a pointer...

Losing and leaking addresses

Often a pointer may be the only indication of where some data or buffer exists in memory. If ongoing use of that data/buffer is needed, or the ability to call free() or delete to avoid leaking the memory, then the programmer must operate on a copy of the pointer...

In C++, it's best practice to use smart pointer objects to store and manage the pointers, automatically deallocating them when the smart pointers' destructors run. Since C++11 the Standard Library provides two, unique_ptr for when there's a single owner for an allocated object...

Null pointers

In C, NULL and 0 - and additionally in C++ nullptr - can be used to indicate that a pointer doesn't currently hold the memory address of a variable, and shouldn't be dereferenced or used in pointer arithmetic. For example:

In C and C++, just as inbuilt numeric types don't necessarily default to 0, nor bools to false, pointers are not always set to NULL. All these are set to 0/false/NULL when they're static variables or (C++ only) direct or indirect member variables of static objects or their bases, or undergo zero initialisation (e.g. new T(); and new T(x, y, z); perform zero-initialisation on T's members including pointers, whereas new T; does not).

Further, when you assign 0, NULL and nullptr to a pointer the bits in the pointer are not necessarily all reset: the pointer may not contain "0" at the hardware level, or refer to address 0 in your virtual address space. The compiler is allowed to store something else there if it has reason to, but whatever it does - if you come along and compare the pointer to 0, NULL, nullptr or another pointer that was assigned any of those, the comparison must work as expected. So, below the source code at the compiler level, "NULL" is potentially a bit "magical" in the C and C++ languages...

More about memory addresses, and why you probably don't need to know

More strictly, initialised pointers store a bit-pattern identifying either NULL or a (often virtual) memory address.

The simple case is where this is a numeric offset into the process's entire virtual address space; in more complex cases the pointer may be relative to some specific memory area, which the CPU may select based on CPU "segment" registers or some manner of segment id encoded in the bit-pattern, and/or looking in different places depending on the machine code instructions using the address.

For example, an int* properly initialised to point to an int variable might - after casting to a float* - access memory in "GPU" memory quite distinct from the memory where the int variable is, then once cast to and used as a function pointer it might point into further distinct memory holding machine opcodes for the program (with the numeric value of the int* effectively a random, invalid pointer within these other memory regions).

3GL programming languages like C and C++ tend to hide this complexity, such that:

• If the compiler gives you a pointer to a variable or function, you can dereference it freely (as long as the variable's not destructed/deallocated meanwhile) and it's the compiler's problem whether e.g. a particular CPU segment register needs to be restored beforehand, or a distinct machine code instruction used

• If you get a pointer to an element in an array, you can use pointer arithmetic to move anywhere else in the array, or even to form an address one-past-the-end of the array that's legal to compare with other pointers to elements in the array (or that have similarly been moved by pointer arithmetic to the same one-past-the-end value); again in C and C++, it's up to the compiler to ensure this "just works"

• Specific OS functions, e.g. shared memory mapping, may give you pointers, and they'll "just work" within the range of addresses that makes sense for them

• Attempts to move legal pointers beyond these boundaries, or to cast arbitrary numbers to pointers, or use pointers cast to unrelated types, typically have undefined behaviour, so should be avoided in higher level libraries and applications, but code for OSes, device drivers, etc. may need to rely on behaviour left undefined by the C or C++ Standard, that is nevertheless well defined by their specific implementation or hardware.

This can also be caused if you forget (as I did) to move config.inc.php into its proper place after completing the setup script.

After making the config folder and doing chmod o+rw config and going to localhost/phpmyadmin/setup and following those steps, you need to go back to the command line and finish things off:

Be careful of linear search algorithms (the above are linear) in multiple dimensional arrays as they have compounded complexity as its depth increases the number of iterations required to traverse the entire array. Eg:

array(
    [0] => array ([0] => something, [1] => something_else))
    ...
    [100] => array ([0] => something100, [1] => something_else100))
)

would take at the most 200 iterations to find what you are looking for (if the needle were at [100][1]), with a suitable algorithm.

Linear algorithms in this case perform at O(n) (order total number of elements in entire array), this is poor, a million entries (eg a 1000x100x10 array) would take on average 500,000 iterations to find the needle. Also what would happen if you decided to change the structure of your multidimensional array? And PHP would kick out a recursive algorithm if your depth was more than 100. Computer science can do better:

Where possible, always use objects instead of multiple dimensional arrays:

You can use uasort() to utilize a custom comparator, if you're feeling adventurous you should implement your own collections for your objects that can sort and manage them (I always extend ArrayObject to include a search function at the very least).

Once they are sorted (uasort is O(n log n), which is as good as it gets over arbitrary data), binary search can do the operation in O(log n) time, ie a million entries only takes ~20 iterations to search. As far as I am aware custom comparator binary search is not implemented in PHP (array_search() uses natural ordering which works on object references not their properties), you would have to implement this your self like I do.

This approach is more efficient (there is no longer a depth) and more importantly universal (assuming you enforce comparability using interfaces) since objects define how they are sorted, so you can recycle the code infinitely. Much better =)

**Rails 4.X +**

As of Rails 4 you can't generate a migration to add a column to a table with a default value, The following steps add a new column to an existing table with default value true or false.

1. Run the migration from command line to add the new column

$ rails generate migration add_columnname_to_tablename columnname:boolean

Note: As WTP mentioned, if it is absolutely necessary to have an int that is "infinite" you would have to write a wrapper class for an int and overload the comparison operators, though this is probably not necessary for most projects.

std::vector always makes a copy of whatever is being stored in the vector.

If you are keeping a vector of pointers, then it will make a copy of the pointer, but not the instance being to which the pointer is pointing. If you are dealing with large objects, you can (and probably should) always use a vector of pointers. Often, using a vector of smart pointers of an appropriate type is good for safety purposes, since handling object lifetime and memory management can be tricky otherwise.

Kyle's solution worked perfectly fine for me so I made my research in order to avoid any Js and CSS, but just sticking with HTML. Adding a value of selected to the item we want to appear as a header forces it to show in the first place as a placeholder. Something like:

The complete markup should be along these lines:

I was using a playbook like this to test my roles locally:

To explain it step by step:

First is the initialization of the button to be used in playing the sound. We use the Activity's findViewById, passing the Id we assigned to it (in this example's case: R.id.button1), to get the button that we need. We cast it as a Button so that it is easy to assign it to the variable one that we are initializing. Explaining more of how this works is out of scope for this answer. This gives a brief insight on how it works.

This is how to initialize a MediaPlayer. The MediaPlayer follows the Static Factory Method Design Pattern. To get an instance, we call its create() method and pass it the context and the resource Id of the sound we want to play, in this case R.raw.soho. We declare it as final. Jon Skeet provided a great explanation on why we do so here.

one.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener(){

Bonus part:

As noted in the comment below^{Thanks Langusten Gustel!}, and as recommended in the Android Developer Reference, it is important to call the release() method to free up resources that will no longer be used. Usually, this is done once the sound to be played has completed playing. To do so, we add an OnCompletionListener to our mp like so:

To keep the scope of this answer small, I wrote it just to illustrate how to play a sound on button click in Android.

First. You should put your statements inside a block, and in this case the onCreate method.

Second. You initialized the button as variable one, then you used a variable zero and set its onClickListener to an incomplete onClickListener. Use the variable one for the setOnClickListener.

SilverSkin and Anders are both correct. You can use parentheses to execute multiple commands. However, you have to make sure that the commands themselves (and their parameters) do not contain parentheses. cmd greedily searches for the first closing parenthesis, instead of handling nested sets of parentheses gracefully. This may cause the rest of the command line to fail to parse, or it may cause some of the parentheses to get passed to the commands (e.g. DEL myfile.txt)).

A workaround for this is to split the body of the loop into a separate function. Note that you probably need to jump around the function body to avoid "falling through" into it.

Indeed. The thing is that the 2008 R2 version is very tricky. The JTDs driver seems to work on some cases. In a certain server, the jTDS worked fine for an 2008 R2 instance. In another server, though, I had to use Microsoft's JBDC driver sqljdbc4.jar. But then, it would only work after setting the JRE environment to 1.6(or higher).

I used 1.5 for the other server, so I waisted a lot of time on this.

Tricky issue.

I like the cardinality package for this, it is very lightweight and tries to use the fastest possible implementation available depending on the iterable.

^ is not the operator you want. You are looking for the pow function of java.lang.Math.

You can use Math.pow(value, power).

Example:

For me it was a load balancer/url issue. A web service behind a load balancer called another service behind the same load balancer using the full url like: loadbalancer.mycompany.com. I changed it to bypass the load balancer when calling the second service by using localhost.mycompany.com instead.

I think there was some kind of circular reference issue going on with the load balancer.

Oracle's locking concept is quite different from that of the other systems.

When a row in Oracle gets locked, the record itself is updated with the new value (if any) and, in addition, a lock (which is essentially a pointer to transaction lock that resides in the rollback segment) is placed right into the record.

This means that locking a record in Oracle means updating the record's metadata and issuing a logical page write. For instance, you cannot do SELECT FOR UPDATE on a read only tablespace.

More than that, the records themselves are not updated after commit: instead, the rollback segment is updated.

This means that each record holds some information about the transaction that last updated it, even if the transaction itself has long since died. To find out if the transaction is alive or not (and, hence, if the record is alive or not), it is required to visit the rollback segment.

Oracle does not have a traditional lock manager, and this means that obtaining a list of all locks requires scanning all records in all objects. This would take too long.

You can obtain some special locks, like locked metadata objects (using v$locked_object), lock waits (using v$session) etc, but not the list of all locks on all objects in the database.

When you make a call to using namespace <some_namespace>; all symbols in that namespace will become visible without adding the namespace prefix. A symbol may be for instance a function, class or a variable.

7. Copy Paste xpath to the script.

I had drawn a splash screen (32bpp BGRA) with "transparent" background color in VS2013 and put a pictureBox in a form for display. For me a combination of above answers worked:

This happens when you have 1 name for the Java class on hard disk and another name of Java class in the code!!

For example, I renamed my MainActivity class to MainnActivity only (!) in the code. I got this error immediately.

There is also a visual indicator in the Project tab of Android Studio - a class inside a class, like you have nested classed, but with an error indicator.

The solution is to simply rename class name in the Project tab (SHIFT + F6) to match the name in the Java code.

serialVersionUID facilitates versioning of serialized data. Its value is stored with the data when serializing. When de-serializing, the same version is checked to see how the serialized data matches the current code.

If you want to version your data, you normally start with a serialVersionUID of 0, and bump it with every structural change to your class which alters the serialized data (adding or removing non-transient fields).

The built-in de-serialization mechanism (in.defaultReadObject()) will refuse to de-serialize from old versions of the data. But if you want to you can define your own readObject()-function which can read back old data. This custom code can then check the serialVersionUID in order to know which version the data is in and decide how to de-serialize it. This versioning technique is useful if you store serialized data which survives several versions of your code.

But storing serialized data for such a long time span is not very common. It is far more common to use the serialization mechanism to temporarily write data to for instance a cache or send it over the network to another program with the same version of the relevant parts of the codebase.

In this case you are not interested in maintaining backwards compatibility. You are only concerned with making sure that the code bases which are communicating indeed have the same versions of relevant classes. In order to facilitate such a check, you must maintain the serialVersionUID just like before and not forget to update it when making changes to your classes.

If you do forget to update the field, you might end up with two different versions of a class with different structure but with the same serialVersionUID. If this happens, the default mechanism (in.defaultReadObject()) will not detect any difference, and try to de-serialize incompatible data. Now you might end up with a cryptic runtime error or silent failure (null fields). These types of errors might be hard to find.

So to help this usecase, the Java platform offers you a choice of not setting the serialVersionUID manually. Instead, a hash of the class structure will be generated at compile-time and used as id. This mechanism will make sure that you never have different class structures with the same id, and so you will not get these hard-to-trace runtime serialization failures mentioned above.

But there is a backside to the auto-generated id strategy. Namely that the generated ids for the same class might differ between compilers (as mentioned by Jon Skeet above). So if you communicate serialized data between code compiled with different compilers, it is recommended to maintain the ids manually anyway.

And if you are backwards-compatible with your data like in the first use case mentioned, you also probably want to maintain the id yourself. This in order to get readable ids and have greater control over when and how they change.

I never understand the concept of Unit Test but now I know what it's the objective.

A Unit Test is not a complete test. So, it's not a replacement for QA and manual test. The concept of TDD in this aspect is wrong since you can't test everything, including private methods but also, methods that use resources (especially resources that we don't have control). TDD is basing all its quality is something that it could not be achieved.

A Unit test is more a pivot test You mark some arbitrary pivot and the result of pivot should stay the same.

I was getting the following errors:

Failed to decode downloaded font: [...]/fonts/glyphicons-halflings-regular.woff2
OTS parsing error: invalid version tag

which was fixed after downloading the raw file directly from:
https://github.com/twbs/bootstrap/blob/master/fonts/glyphicons-halflings-regular.woff2

The problem was that there was a proxy error when downloading the file (it contained the HTML error message).

Have you tried:

As the physical interface is 10 and the virtual aspect is after the colon :.

Implicit definition would be to just add the methods / properties, etc. demanded by the interface directly to the class as public methods.

Explicit definition forces the members to be exposed only when you are working with the interface directly, and not the underlying implementation. This is preferred in most cases.

1. By working directly with the interface, you are not acknowledging, and coupling your code to the underlying implementation.
2. In the event that you already have, say, a public property Name in your code and you want to implement an interface that also has a Name property, doing it explicitly will keep the two separate. Even if they were doing the same thing I'd still delegate the explicit call to the Name property. You never know, you may want to change how Name works for the normal class and how Name, the interface property works later on.
3. If you implement an interface implicitly then your class now exposes new behaviours that might only be relevant to a client of the interface and it means you aren't keeping your classes succinct enough (my opinion).

Header files can contain any valid C code, since they are injected into the compilation unit by the pre-processor prior to compilation.

If a header file contains a function, and is included by multiple .c files, each .c file will get a copy of that function and create a symbol for it. The linker will complain about the duplicate symbols.

It is technically possible to create static functions in a header file for inclusion in multiple .c files. Though this is generally not done because it breaks from the convention that code is found in .c files and declarations are found in .h files.

Parse that string into a Date object:

In most of the cases, StringUtils.isBlank(str) from apache commons library would solve it. But if there is case, where input string being checked has null value within quotes, it fails to check such cases.

Take an example where I have an input object which was converted into string using String.valueOf(obj) API. In case obj reference is null, String.valueOf returns "null" instead of null.

When you attempt to use, StringUtils.isBlank("null"), API fails miserably, you may have to check for such use cases as well to make sure your validation is proper.
