getting a checkbox array value from POST

Question

i am posting an array of checkboxes  and i cant get it to work  i didnt include the proper syntax in the foreach loop to keep it simple  but it is working  i tested in by trying to do the same thing with a text field instead of a checkbox and it worked with the textfield    lt form method  post  gt   lt  php  foreach  echo   lt input id     userid    value     userid     name  invite    type  checkbox  gt   lt input type  submit  gt        gt   lt  form gt    here is the part that is not working  it is echoing  invite  instead of array     lt  php     if isset   POST  invite       invite     POST  invite    echo  invite

I just used the following code    lt form method  post  gt       lt input id  user1  value  user1   name  invite    type  checkbox  gt       lt input id  user2  value  user2   name  invite    type  checkbox  gt       lt input type  submit  gt   lt  form gt    lt  php     if isset   POST  invite               invite     POST  invite            print r  invite           gt    When I checked both boxes  the output was   Array    0    gt  user1  1    gt  user2     I know this doesn t directly answer your question  but it gives you a working example to reference and hopefully helps you solve the problem

if you do the input like this  lt input id     userid    value     userid     name  invite    userid     type  checkbox  gt      you can access the value directly like this   invite     POST  invite    userid

Check out the implode   function as an alternative  This will convert the array into a list  The first param is how you want the items separated  Here I have used a comma with a space after it    invite   implode         POST  invite     echo  invite

Because your  lt form gt  element is inside the foreach loop  you are generating multiple forms   I assume you want multiple checkboxes in one form   Try this      lt form method  post  gt  foreach   lt  php echo   lt input id     userid    value     userid     name  invite    type  checkbox  gt   lt input type  submit  gt      gt     lt  form gt

Your   POST array contains the invite array  so reading it out as   lt  php if isset   POST  invite         invite     POST  invite      echo  invite      gt    won t work since it s an array  You have to loop through the array to get all of the values    lt  php if isset   POST  invite        if  is array   POST  invite           foreach   POST  invite   as  value         echo  value            else        value     POST  invite        echo  value          gt
