How to create a JSON object

I am trying to create an JSON object out of a PHP array  The array looks like this    post data   array  item type id    gt   item type       string key    gt   string key       string value    gt   string value       string extra    gt   string extra       is public    gt   public       is public for contacts    gt   public contacts     The code to encode the JSON look like this    post data   json encode  post data     The JSON file is supposed to look like this in the end          item              is public for contacts   false           string extra    100000583627394            string value    value            string key    key            is public   true           item type id   4           numeric extra   0            How can I encapsulate the created JSON code in the  item     JSON CODE HERE

You could json encode a generic object    post data   new stdClass     post data- gt item   new stdClass     post data- gt item- gt item type id    item type   post data- gt item- gt string key    string key   post data- gt item- gt string value    string value   post data- gt item- gt string extra    string extra   post data- gt item- gt is public    public   post data- gt item- gt is public for contacts    public contacts  echo json encode  post data

Usually  you would do something like this    post data   json encode array  item    gt   post data      But  as it seems you want the output to be with       you better make sure to force json encode   to encode as object  by passing the JSON FORCE OBJECT constant    post data   json encode array  item    gt   post data   JSON FORCE OBJECT          brackets specify an object and      are used for arrays according to JSON specification
