I assume you are meaning  internally  within your application   you can create your own  lt a gt  tag and insert a url in the href like this   lt a href   lt  php echo site url  controller function uri     gt   gt Link lt  a gt    OR you can use the URL helper this way to generate an  lt a gt  tag  anchor uri segments  text  attributes    So    to use it      lt  php echo anchor  controller function uri    Link    class  link-class      gt    and that will generate   lt a href  http   domain com index php controller function uri  class  link-class  gt Link lt  a gt    For the additional commented question  I would use my first example  so      lt a href   lt  php echo site url  controller function     gt   gt  lt img src   lt  php echo base url     gt img path file jpg    gt  lt  a gt    for images  and other assets  I wouldn t put the file path within the php  I would just echo the base url   and then add the path normally
