The solution is to set the cell style through this function:

$sheet->getStyle('A1')->getAlignment()->applyFromArray(
    array('horizontal' => PHPExcel_Style_Alignment::HORIZONTAL_CENTER,)
);

We can also set the vertical alignment with using this way   style cell   array      alignment    gt  array          horizontal    gt  PHPExcel Style Alignment  HORIZONTAL CENTER          vertical    gt  PHPExcel Style Alignment  VERTICAL CENTER              with this cell set the vertically aligned into the middle

When using merged columns  I got it centered by using PHPExcel Style Alignment  HORIZONTAL CENTER CONTINUOUS instead of PHPExcel Style Alignment  HORIZONTAL CENTER

if you want to align only this cells  you can do something like this        style   array           alignment    gt  array               horizontal    gt  PHPExcel Style Alignment  HORIZONTAL CENTER                         sheet- gt getStyle  A1 B1  - gt applyFromArray  style     But  if you want to apply this style to all cells  try this        style   array           alignment    gt  array               horizontal    gt  PHPExcel Style Alignment  HORIZONTAL CENTER                         sheet- gt getDefaultStyle  - gt applyFromArray  style
