I m using this code  profile   webdriver FirefoxProfile   profile set preference  quot network proxy type quot   1  profile set preference  quot network proxy http quot    quot proxy server address quot   profile set preference  quot network proxy http port quot    quot port number quot   profile update preferences   driver   webdriver Firefox firefox profile profile   to set proxy for FF in python webdriver  This works for FF  How to set proxy like this in Chrome  I found this exmaple but is not very helpful  When I run the script nothing happens  Chrome browser is not started

For people out there asking how to setup proxy server in chrome which needs authentication should follow these steps    Create a proxy py file in  your project  use this code and call proxy chrome from proxy py everytime you need it  You need to pass parameters like proxy server  port and username password for authentication

I had an issue with the same thing   ChromeOptions is very weird because it s not integrated with the desiredcapabilities like you would think   I forget the exact details  but basically ChromeOptions will reset to default certain values based on whether you did or did not pass a desired capabilities dict   I did the following monkey-patch that allows me to specify my own dict without worrying about the complications of ChromeOptions  change the following code in  selenium webdriver chrome webdriver py   def   init   self  executable path  chromedriver   port 0               chrome options None  service args None               desired capabilities None  service log path None  skip capabilities update False               Creates a new instance of the chrome driver       Starts the service and then creates new instance of chrome driver        Args       - executable path - path to the executable  If the default is used it assumes the executable is in the  PATH      - port - port you would like the service to run  if left as 0  a free port will be found       - desired capabilities  Dictionary object with non-browser specific        capabilities only  such as  proxy  or  loggingPref        - chrome options  this takes an instance of ChromeOptions             if chrome options is None          options   Options       else          options   chrome options      if skip capabilities update          pass     elif desired capabilities is not None          desired capabilities update options to capabilities        else          desired capabilities   options to capabilities        self service   Service executable path  port port          service args service args  log path service log path      self service start        try          RemoteWebDriver   init   self              command executor self service service url              desired capabilities desired capabilities      except          self quit           raise      self  is remote   False   all that changed was the  skip capabilities update  kwarg  Now I just do this to set my own dict   capabilities   dict  DesiredCapabilities CHROME    if not  chromeOptions  in capabilities      capabilities  chromeOptions                args                 binary                 extensions                 prefs              capabilities  proxy            httpProxy      s  i    proxy address  proxy port        ftpProxy      s  i    proxy address  proxy port        sslProxy      s  i    proxy address  proxy port        noProxy    None       proxyType     MANUAL        class     org openqa selenium Proxy        autodetect    False    driver   webdriver Chrome  executable path  path to chrome   desired capabilities capabilities  skip capabilities update True
