Say I have the following JavaScript in a HTML page   lt html gt   lt script gt      var simpleText    hello world       var finalSplitText   simpleText split           var splitText   finalSplitText 0    lt  script gt    lt body gt       lt a href   test html gt I need the value of  splitText  variable here lt  a gt   lt  body gt   lt  html gt    How do I get the value of the variable  splitText  outside the script tags   Thanks

The info inside the  lt script gt  tag is then processed inside it to access other parts  If you want to change the text inside another paragraph  then first give the paragraph an id  then set a variable to it using getElementById  id   to access it   id  means the id you gave the paragraph    Next  use the innerHTML built-in variable with whatever your variable was called and a      dot  to show that it is based on the paragraph  You can set it to whatever you want  but be aware that to set a paragraph to a tag   lt        then you have to still put it in speech marks   Example    x000D   x000D   lt  DOCTYPE html gt  x000D   lt html gt  x000D       lt body gt  x000D           lt  --   id here-- gt  x000D           lt p id  myText  gt  lt  p gt  x000D           lt p id  myTextTag  gt  lt  p gt  x000D           lt script gt  x000D               lt  --Here we retrieve the text and show what we want to write    x000D              var text   document getElementById  myText    x000D              var tag   document getElementById  myTextTag    x000D              var toWrite    Hello  x000D              var toWriteTag     lt a href  https   stackoverflow com  gt Stack Overflow lt  a gt   x000D               lt  --   and here we are actually affecting the text -- gt  x000D              text innerHTML   toWrite x000D              tag innerHTML   toWriteTag x000D           lt  script gt  x000D       lt body gt  x000D   lt html gt  x000D   x000D   x000D
