it s late for this answer but i think maybe still can help  i try the both methods above  using two where conditions and the method with the array  none of those work for me i did several test and the condition was never getting executed  so i did a workaround  here is my code   public function validateLogin  email   password            password   md5  password            this- gt db- gt select  userID email password             query    this- gt db- gt get where  users   array  email    gt   email             p    query- gt row array             if  query- gt num rows      1  amp  amp   password     p  password                   return  query- gt row
