First of all I'd like to say that I 100% agree with John Saunders that you must avoid loops in SQL in most cases especially in production.

But occasionally as a one time thing to populate a table with a hundred records for testing purposes IMHO it's just OK to indulge yourself to use a loop.

For example in your case to populate your table with records with hospital ids between 16 and 100 and make emails and descriptions distinct you could've used

The is operator in Python probably doesn't do what you expect. Instead of this:

    if numpy.array_equal(tmp,universe_array) is True:
        break

I would write it like this:

    if numpy.array_equal(tmp,universe_array):
        break

The is operator tests object identity, which is something quite different from equality.

I know this is old question but...

As Raymond Hettinger said, it should be called while/no_break instead of while/else.
I find it easy to understeand if you look at this snippet.

Now instead of checking condition after while loop we can swap it with else and get rid of that check.

n = 5

I always read it as while/no_break to understand the code and that syntax makes much more sense to me.

Now, I just started programing about a week ago, so nothing fancy, but I had this as a problem and came up with this, which may be easier for people who are just getting into programing to understand. It uses Euclid's method like in previous examples.

the following code works for me. It requires openCV (import cv2).

The code is composed of an infinite loop that is continuously looking for a key pressed. In this case, when the 'q' key is pressed, the program ends. Other keys can be pressed (in this example 'b' or 'k') to perform different actions such as change a variable value or execute a function.

And now we know that for-loop is faster than while-loop. You cannot ignore warnings during timing.

It's wrong because (in the absence of a read error) it enters the loop one more time than the author expects. If there is a read error, the loop never terminates.

Consider the following code:

This program will consistently print one greater than the number of characters in the input stream (assuming no read errors). Consider the case where the input stream is empty:

$ ./a.out < /dev/null
Number of characters read: 1

In this case, feof() is called before any data has been read, so it returns false. The loop is entered, fgetc() is called (and returns EOF), and count is incremented. Then feof() is called and returns true, causing the loop to abort.

This happens in all such cases. feof() does not return true until after a read on the stream encounters the end of file. The purpose of feof() is NOT to check if the next read will reach the end of file. The purpose of feof() is to determine the status of a previous read function and distinguish between an error condition and the end of the data stream. If fread() returns 0, you must use feof/ferror to decide whether an error occurred or if all of the data was consumed. Similarly if fgetc returns EOF. feof() is only useful after fread has returned zero or fgetc has returned EOF. Before that happens, feof() will always return 0.

It is always necessary to check the return value of a read (either an fread(), or an fscanf(), or an fgetc()) before calling feof().

Even worse, consider the case where a read error occurs. In that case, fgetc() returns EOF, feof() returns false, and the loop never terminates. In all cases where while(!feof(p)) is used, there must be at least a check inside the loop for ferror(), or at the very least the while condition should be replaced with while(!feof(p) && !ferror(p)) or there is a very real possibility of an infinite loop, probably spewing all sorts of garbage as invalid data is being processed.

So, in summary, although I cannot state with certainty that there is never a situation in which it may be semantically correct to write "while(!feof(f))" (although there must be another check inside the loop with a break to avoid a infinite loop on a read error), it is the case that it is almost certainly always wrong. And even if a case ever arose where it would be correct, it is so idiomatically wrong that it would not be the right way to write the code. Anyone seeing that code should immediately hesitate and say, "that's a bug". And possibly slap the author (unless the author is your boss in which case discretion is advised.)

Auto-incrementing the index in a loop:

myArr[(len(myArr)+1)]={"key":"val"}

In very simple words

"i-- and i++. Actually, they're both takes the same time".

but in this case when you have incremental operation.. processor evaluate the .length every time variable is incremented by 1 and in case of decrement.. particularly in this case, it will evaluate .length only once till we get 0.

The expression ('AND' and 'OR' and 'NOT') evaluates to 'NOT', so you are testing whether the list has NOT or not.

Your condition is wrong. myChar != 'n' || myChar != 'N' will always be true.

Use myChar != 'n' && myChar != 'N' instead

I ran into this page while (no pun) looking for something else. Here is what I use:

It's not that different in bash.

: is the no-op command; its exit status is always 0, so the loop runs until workdone is given a non-zero value.

There are many ways you could set and test the value of workdone in order to exit the loop; the one I show above should work in any POSIX-compatible shell.

Try

Here's a very simple way to emulate a do-while loop:

condition = True
while condition:
    # loop body here
    condition = test_loop_condition()
# end of loop

The key features of a do-while loop are that the loop body always executes at least once, and that the condition is evaluated at the bottom of the loop body. The control structure show here accomplishes both of these with no need for exceptions or break statements. It does introduce one extra Boolean variable.

PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small

is due to the fact that you declare a string to be of a fixed length (say 20), and at some point in your code you assign it a value whose length exceeds what you declared.

for example:

will fire such an error

I seem to recall reading this article more than once, and the answer is only close to what I need.

Usually when I think I'm going to need a DO WHILE in T-SQL it's because I'm iterating a cursor, and I'm looking largely for optimal clarity (vs. optimal speed). In T-SQL that seems to fit a WHILE TRUE / IF BREAK.

If that's the scenario that brought you here, this snippet may save you a moment. Otherwise, welcome back, me. Now I can be certain I've been here more than once. :)

Unfortunately, T-SQL doesn't seem to offer a cleaner way to singly-define the loop operation, than this infinite loop.

First, please do not use extract(), it can be a security problem because it is easy to manipulate POST parameters

In addition, you don't have to use variable variable names (that sounds odd), instead:

(The latter makes more sense ... I guess). Either way, it is obvious that you can rewrite the loop so that the "else test" is not repeated inside the loop ... as I have just done.

FWIW, this is most likely a case of premature optimization. That is, you are probably wasting your time optimizing code that doesn't need to be optimized:

• For all you know, the JIT compiler's optimizer may have already moved the code around so that the "else" part is no longer in the loop.

• Even if it hasn't, the chances are that the particular thing you are trying to optimize is not a significant bottleneck ... even if it might be executed 600,000 times.

My advice is to forget this problem for now. Get the program working. When it is working, decide if it runs fast enough. If it doesn't then profile it, and use the profiler output to decide where it is worth spending your time optimizing.

Though this is an old question and asked several times, here's what I'm doing after hours fidgeting with here strings, and the only option that worked for me is to store the value in a file during while loop sub-shells and then retrieve it. Simple.

Use echo statement to store and cat statement to retrieve. And the bash user must chown the directory or have read-write chmod access.

For those using asyncio, an easy way is to use asyncio.wait_for():

Python allows you to use a string as an iterator:

for character in 'string':
    print(character)

I'm guessing it's your job to figure out how to turn that into a while loop.

The code is valid (i.e, will compile and execute) in both cases.

One of my lecturers at Uni told us that it is not desirable to have continue, return statements in any loop - for or while. The reason for this is that when examining the code, it is not not immediately clear whether the full length of the loop will be executed or the return or continue will take effect.

See Why is continue inside a loop a bad idea? for an example.

The key point to keep in mind is that for simple scenarios like this it doesn't (IMO) matter but when you have complex logic determining the return value, the code is 'generally' more readable if you have a single return statement instead of several.

With regards to the Garbage Collection - I have no idea why this would be an issue.

You cannot use WHILE like that; see: mysql DECLARE WHILE outside stored procedure how?

You have to put your code in a stored procedure. Example:

Alternatively, generate a list of INSERT statements using any programming language you like; for a one-time creation, it should be fine. As an example, here's a Bash one-liner:

By the way, you made a typo in your numbers; 2376921001 has 10 digits, 237692200 only 9.

This is lighter weight than xrange (and the while loop) since it doesn't even need to create the int objects. It also works equally well in Python2 and Python3

It's as simple as that:

precondition vs postcondition

• while (cond) {...} - precondition, it executes the code only after checking.
• do {...} while (cond) - postcondition, code is executed at least once.

Now that you know the secret .. use them wisely :)

I like to use the semicolons only for the WHILE statement, and the && operator to make the loop do more than one thing...

So I always do it like this

A While/Wend loop can only be exited prematurely with a GOTO or by exiting from an outer block (Exit sub/function or another exitable loop)

Change to a Do loop instead:

That is the loop if you need to access your index (cx). If you just wanna to something 0-3=4 times but you do not need the index, this would be easier:

        loop loop1  ; loop instruction decrements cx and jumps to label if not 0

If you just want to perform a very simple instruction a constant amount of times, you could also use an assembler-directive which will just hardcore that instruction

Do-while-loops

Do-while-loop in C:

The same loop in assembler:

For the for-loops you should take the cx-register because it is pretty much standard. For the other loop conditions you can take a register of your liking. Of course replace the no-operation instruction with all the instructions you wanna perform in the loop.

You have a risk of NullPointerException if your calculateStr() method returns null and then you try to call a method on str.

More generally, avoid having variables with a null value. It stronger for class attributes, by the way.

Walrus operator (assignment expressions added to python 3.8) and while-loop-else-clause can do it more pythonic:

myScore = 0
while ans := input("Roll...").lower() == "r":

The extra [ ] on the outside of your second syntax are unnecessary, and possibly confusing. You may use them, but if you must you need to have whitespace between them.

Alternatively:

while [ $stats -gt 300 ] || [ $stats -eq 0 ]

When you want to check the condition at the beginning of the loop, simply negate the condition on a standard while loop:

while(!cond) { ... }

If you need it at the end, use a do ... while loop and negate the condition:

do { ... } while(!cond);

It's bad in the sense that structured programming constructs are preferred to (the somewhat unstructured) break and continue statements. They are, by comparison, preferred to "goto" according to this principle.

I'd always recommend making your code as structured as possible... although, as Jon Skeet points out, don't make it more structured than that!

As for infinite loops for(;;) loop is better than while(1) since while evaluates every time the condition but again it depends on the compiler.

If you want to check if any item in the list violates a condition use all:

if all([x[2] == 0 for x in lista]):
    # Will run if all elements in the list has x[2] = 0 (use not to invert if necessary)

To remove all elements not matching, use filter

# Will remove all elements where x[2] is 0
listb = filter(lambda x: x[2] != 0, listb)

Modify the while loop as below. Declare s1 as String s1; one time outside the loop. To end the loop, simply use ctrl+z.

An "if" is not a loop. Just use the break inside the "if" and it will break out of the "while".

If you ever need to use genuine nested loops, Java has the concept of a labeled break. You can put a label before a loop, and then use the name of the label is the argument to break. It will break outside of the labeled loop.

WHILE is more flexible. FOR is more concise in those instances in which it applies.

FOR is great for loops which have a counter of some kind, like

for (int n=0; n<max; ++n)

You can accomplish the same thing with a WHILE, of course, as others have pointed out, but now the initialization, test, and increment are broken across three lines. Possibly three widely-separated lines if the body of the loop is large. This makes it harder for the reader to see what you're doing. After all, while "++n" is a very common third piece of the FOR, it's certainly not the only possibility. I've written many loops where I write "n+=increment" or some more complex expression.

FOR can also work nicely with things other than a counter, of course. Like

for (int n=getFirstElementFromList(); listHasMoreElements(); n=getNextElementFromList())

Etc.

But FOR breaks down when the "next time through the loop" logic gets more complicated. Consider:

initializeList();
while (listHasMoreElements())
{
  n=getCurrentElement();
  int status=processElement(n);
  if (status>0)
  {
    skipElements(status);
    advanceElementPointer();
  }
  else
  {
    n=-status;
    findElement(n);
  }
}

That is, if the process of advancing may be different depending on conditions encountered while processing, a FOR statement is impractical. Yes, sometimes you could make it work with a complicated enough expressions, use of the ternary ?: operator, etc, but that usually makes the code less readable rather than more readable.

In practice, most of my loops are either stepping through an array or structure of some kind, in which case I use a FOR loop; or are reading a file or a result set from a database, in which case I use a WHILE loop ("while (!eof())" or something of that sort).

For this to work... you'll have to fix your constructor...

Assuming your Customer class has variables called name and sale, your constructor should look like this:

You don't need to use echo or grep. You could do this:

ping -oc 100000 8.8.8.8 > /dev/null && say "up" || say "down"

You must first check whether response[0] is undefined, and only if it's not, check for the rest. That means that in your case, response[0] is undefined.

if you want to 'add to the id' rather than replace it

capture the current id first, then append your new id. especially useful for twitter bootstrap which uses input states on their forms.

    new_id = '{{old_id}} inputSuccess';
    old_id = that.attr('id');

if you do not - you will lose any properties you previous set.

Where is the value kind = "var" that M2E does not recognize and therefore throws the error.

Now type this. mvn eclipse: clean

As it is, you've got Thing as an inner class, which (by definition) is associated with a particular instance of Hello (even if it never uses or refers to it), which means it's an error to say new Thing(); without having a particular Hello instance in scope.

If you declare it as a static class instead, then it's a "nested" class, which doesn't need a particular Hello instance.

If you append json data to query string, and parse it later in web api side. you can parse complex object. It's useful rather than post json object style. This is my solution.

Explanation: When you're searching for the last occurrence, really you're searching for the first occurrence in the reversed string. Knowing this, I did s[::-1] (which returns a reversed string), and then indexed the target from there. Then I did len(s) - 1 - the index found because we want the index in the unreversed (i.e. original) string.

Watch out, though! If target is more than one character, you probably won't find it in the reversed string. To fix this, use last_pos = len(s) - 1 - s[::-1].index(target[::-1]), which searches for a reversed version of target.

I was having this issue and none of these answers were able to help me with the issue. For anyone else who happens to have the same problem, here is a possible solution that worked for me. Simply reformat the code to be the following:

The difference in the code is that this code has an error handler. You can choose to handle the error however you wish but it is best practice to have the error handler in case of an exception. Also, the formatting of the success and error functions within the ajax function are different. This is the only format for success/error that would work for me. Hope it helps!

What is actually the most robust and elegant automated solution for deserializing JSON to TypeScript runtime class instances?

Using property decorators with ReflectDecorators to record runtime-accessible type information that can be used during a deserialization process provides a surprisingly clean and widely adaptable approach, that also fits into existing code beautifully. It is also fully automatable, and works for nested objects as well.

An implementation of this idea is TypedJSON, which I created precisely for this task:

The @ symbol is the error control operator (aka the "silence" or "shut-up" operator). It makes PHP suppress any error messages (notice, warning, fatal, etc) generated by the associated expression. It works just like a unary operator, for example, it has a precedence and associativity. Below are some examples:

What exactly happens if you use a custom error handler instead of the standard PHP error handler:

If you have set a custom error handler function with set_error_handler() then it will still get called, but this custom error handler can (and should) call error_reporting() which will return 0 when the call that triggered the error was preceded by an @.

This is illustrated in the following code example:

You now access calls to MyClass through a private implementation of MyClassImpl. This approach can be advantageous if you were developing a portable application; you could simply swap out the implementation of MyClass with one specific to the other platform ... but honestly, whether this is a better implementation is more a matter of taste and needs.

When you use trusted connections, username and password are IGNORED, because SQL Server using windows authentication.

If your merge was not too complicated another option would be to:

1. Move all the changes including the merge changes back to stash using "git stash"
2. Run the merge again and commit your changes (without the changes from the dropped stash)

In Simple words, tabindex is used to focus on elements. Syntax: tabindex="numeric_value" This numeric_value is the weight of element. Lower value will be accessed first.

You need to call replace on z and not on str, since you want to replace characters located in the string variable z

White space? Couldn't you just use padding? That is an idea. That is how you can add some "blank area" around your element. So you can use the following CSS tags:

As the error message clearly states, you're writing a conditional in which one half is an IHtmlString and the other half is a string.
That doesn't make sense, since the compiler doesn't know what type the entire expression should be.

There is never a reason to call Html.Raw(...).ToString().
Html.Raw returns an HtmlString instance that wraps the original string.
The Razor page output knows not to escape HtmlString instances.

Yes, it is a hash mapping or hash table. You can read a description of python's dict implementation, as written by Tim Peters, here.

I have a slightly different perspective on the difference between a DATETIME and a TIMESTAMP. A DATETIME stores a literal value of a date and time with no reference to any particular timezone. So, I can set a DATETIME column to a value such as '2019-01-16 12:15:00' to indicate precisely when my last birthday occurred. Was this Eastern Standard Time? Pacific Standard Time? Who knows? Where the current session time zone of the server comes into play occurs when you set a DATETIME column to some value such as NOW(). The value stored will be the current date and time using the current session time zone in effect. But once a DATETIME column has been set, it will display the same regardless of what the current session time zone is.

A TIMESTAMP column on the other hand takes the '2019-01-16 12:15:00' value you are setting into it and interprets it in the current session time zone to compute an internal representation relative to 1/1/1970 00:00:00 UTC. When the column is displayed, it will be converted back for display based on whatever the current session time zone is. It's a useful fiction to think of a TIMESTAMP as taking the value you are setting and converting it from the current session time zone to UTC for storing and then converting it back to the current session time zone for displaying.

If my server is in San Francisco but I am running an event in New York that starts on 9/1/1029 at 20:00, I would use a TIMESTAMP column for holding the start time, set the session time zone to 'America/New York' and set the start time to '2009-09-01 20:00:00'. If I want to know whether the event has occurred or not, regardless of the current session time zone setting I can compare the start time with NOW(). Of course, for displaying in a meaningful way to a perspective customer, I would need to set the correct session time zone. If I did not need to do time comparisons, then I would probably be better off just using a DATETIME column, which will display correctly (with an implied EST time zone) regardless of what the current session time zone is.

TIMESTAMP LIMITATION

The TIMESTAMP type has a range of '1970-01-01 00:00:01' UTC to '2038-01-19 03:14:07' UTC and so it may not usable for your particular application. In that case you will have to use a DATETIME type. You will, of course, always have to be concerned that the current session time zone is set properly whenever you are using this type with date functions such as NOW().

I have found that you have to comment out the namespace wrapping the the class at time when moving between version of Visual Studio:

'Namespace FormsAuth

'End Namespace

and at other times, I have to uncomment the namespace.

This happened to me several times when other developers edited the same solution using a different version of VS and/or I moved (copied) the solution to another location

There are many examples of FOO__in=... style filters in the many-to-many and many-to-one tests. Here is syntax for your specific problem:

The double underscore (__) syntax is used all over the place when working with querysets.

I recently discovered that using strtolower() can cause issues where the data is truncated after a special character.

The solution was to use

mb_strtolower($string, 'UTF-8');

mb_ uses MultiByte. It supports more characters but in general is a little slower.

It might be because of a few reasons:

1. Problems in your web host.
2. Theme related errors(You can change it by renaming theme folder).
3. Plugin related errors(You can change it by renaming plugin folder).
4. An Empty line in your wp-config file.

5. Code errors that can be seen by enabling Debug mode.

Let will always say the same think of "let" as let this work for once and always as for "var" variable's can always change hence them being called variable's

Hope below query will give the desired output:

This works fine:

os.path.join(dir_name, base_filename + "." + filename_suffix)

Keep in mind that os.path.join() exists only because different operating systems use different path separator characters. It smooths over that difference so cross-platform code doesn't have to be cluttered with special cases for each OS. There is no need to do this for file name "extensions" (see footnote) because they are always connected to the rest of the name with a dot character, on every OS.

If using a function anyway makes you feel better (and you like needlessly complicating your code), you can do this:

os.path.join(dir_name, '.'.join((base_filename, filename_suffix)))

If you prefer to keep your code clean, simply include the dot in the suffix:

suffix = '.pdf'

Footnote: Outside of Micorsoft operating systems, there is no such thing as a file name "extension". Its presence on Windows comes from MS-DOS and FAT, which borrowed it from CP/M, which has been dead for decades. That dot-plus-three-letters that many of us are accustomed to seeing is just part of the file name on every other modern OS, where it has no built-in meaning.

If you don't know that you want to insert it at position #3, but you know the key that you want to insert it after, I cooked up this little function after seeing this question.

If you are fortunate enough to be running Python 3.4+, you can use pathlib:

In Python, you simply cannot kill a Thread directly.

If you do NOT really need to have a Thread (!), what you can do, instead of using the threading package , is to use the multiprocessing package . Here, to kill a process, you can simply call the method:

Python will kill your process (on Unix through the SIGTERM signal, while on Windows through the TerminateProcess() call). Pay attention to use it while using a Queue or a Pipe! (it may corrupt the data in the Queue/Pipe)

Note that the multiprocessing.Event and the multiprocessing.Semaphore work exactly in the same way of the threading.Event and the threading.Semaphore respectively. In fact, the first ones are clones of the latters.

If you REALLY need to use a Thread, there is no way to kill it directly. What you can do, however, is to use a "daemon thread". In fact, in Python, a Thread can be flagged as daemon:

The main program will exit when no alive non-daemon threads are left. In other words, when your main thread (which is, of course, a non-daemon thread) will finish its operations, the program will exit even if there are still some daemon threads working.

Of course you can, and should, use daemon even with multiprocessing. Here, when the main process exits, it attempts to terminate all of its daemonic child processes.

Finally, please, note that sys.exit() and os.kill() are not choices.

Use LinkedList<> when

1. You don't know how many objects are coming through the flood gate. For example, Token Stream.
2. When you ONLY wanted to delete\insert at the ends.

For everything else, it is better to use List<>.

One additional information I just one to add is that a PATCH request use less bandwidth compared to a PUT request since just a part of the data is sent not the whole entity. With the example class you posted it doesn't seem to make much sense to test getFuel() and getSpeed() since they can only return 0 (there are no setters).

However, assuming that this was just a simplified example for illustrative purposes, and that you have legitimate reasons to test methods in the abstract base class (others have already pointed out the implications), you could setup your test code so that it creates an anonymous subclass of the base class that just provides dummy (no-op) implementations for the abstract methods.

For example, in your TestCase you could do this:

As a general rule, converting a Web Forms or MVC5 application to ASP.NET Core will require a significant amount of refactoring.

HttpContext.Current was removed in ASP.NET Core. Accessing the current HTTP context from a separate class library is the type of messy architecture that ASP.NET Core tries to avoid. There are a few ways to re-architect this in ASP.NET Core.

HttpContext property

You can access the current HTTP context via the HttpContext property on any controller. The closest thing to your original code sample would be to pass HttpContext into the method you are calling:

Very similar to some answers here, but in my case I had images that sometimes were taller, sometimes larger.

This style worked like a charm to make sure that all images use all available space, keep the ratio and not cuts:

This is an interesting topic. My take on it is that python classmethod operates like a singleton rather than a factory (which returns a produced an instance of a class). The reason it is a singleton is that there is a common object that is produced (the dictionary) but only once for the class but shared by all instances.

To illustrate this here is an example. Note that all instances have a reference to the single dictionary. This is not Factory pattern as I understand it. This is probably very unique to python.

To apply an ORDER BY or LIMIT clause to an individual SELECT, parenthesize the SELECT and place the clause inside the parentheses:

One way to look at the & (reference) operator in c++ is that is merely a syntactic sugar to a pointer. For example, the following are roughly equivalent:

If a class is declared as static then the variables and methods need to be declared as static.

A class can be declared static, indicating that it contains only static members. It is not possible to create instances of a static class using the new keyword. Static classes are loaded automatically by the .NET Framework common language runtime (CLR) when the program or namespace containing the class is loaded.

Use a static class to contain methods that are not associated with a particular object. For example, it is a common requirement to create a set of methods that do not act on instance data and are not associated to a specific object in your code. You could use a static class to hold those methods.

Dozer is a Java Bean to Java Bean mapper that recursively copies data from one object to another. Typically, these Java Beans will be of different complex types.

Especially as a beginner, you should ask your compiler to print every warning about bad code that it can generate. Modern compilers know lots of different warnings which help you to program better. For example, when you compile this program with the GNU C Compiler:

rand.c:6: warning: implicit declaration of function `printf'

You get two warnings here. The first one says that the rand function only takes zero arguments, not one as you tried. To get a random number between 0 and n, you can use the expression rand() % n, which is not perfect but ok for small n. The resulting random numbers are normally not evenly distributed; smaller values are returned more often.

The second warning tells you that you are calling a function that the compiler doesn't know at that point. You have to tell the compiler by saying #include <stdio.h>. Which include files are needed for which functions is not always simple, but asking the Open Group specification for portable operating systems works in many cases: http://www.google.com/search?q=opengroup+rand.

These two warnings tell you much about the history of the C programming language. 40 years back, the definition of a function didn't include the number of parameters or the types of the parameters. It was also ok to call an unknown function, which in most cases worked. If you want to write code today, you should not rely on these old features but instead enable your compiler's warnings, understand the warnings and then fix them properly.

You can use LIMIT 2,1 instead of WHERE row_number() = 3.

normally stream skips white space characters like space or new line, tab and all other control characters. But noskipws makes all the characters transferred. So this will not only copy a text file but also a binary file. And stream uses buffer internally, I assume the speed won't be slow.

You should likely change the .container to .container-fluid, which will cause your container to stretch the entire screen. This will allow any div's inside of it to naturally stretch as wide as they need.

You should pull that div outside of the container. You're asking a div to stretch wider than its parent, which is generally not recommended practice.

If you cannot pull it out of the div for some reason, you should change the position style with this css:

Instead of configuring Tomcat to redirect requests, use Apache as a frontend with the Apache Tomcat connector so that Apache is only serving static content, while asking tomcat for dynamic content.

Using the JKmount directive (or others) you could specify exactly which requests are sent to Tomcat.

Requests for static content, such as images, would be served directly by Apache, using a standard virtual host configuration, while other requests, defined in the JKMount directive will be sent to Tomcat workers.

I think this implementation would give you the most flexibility and control on the overall application.

You can change which python you're using with your IDE, if you've already downloaded python 3.x it shouldn't be too hard to switch. But your script works fine on python 3.x, I would just change

to

Because with the comma it prints with a whitespace in between your name is and whatever the user inputted. AND: if you're using 2.7 just use raw_input instead of input.

I hate to point out the obvious, but System.IO.FileNotFoundException means the program did not find the file you specified. So what you need to do is check what file your code is looking for in production.

To see what file your program is looking for in production (look at the FileName property of the exception), try these techniques:

• write to a debug log,
• use Visual Studio Attach to Process, or
• use Visual Studio Remote Debugging

Then look at the file system on the machine and see if the file exists. Most likely the case is that it doesn't exist.

As far as installing a custom plugin there is a good walkthrough on GitHub for the rest2mobile library that could be used for any plugin.

I just stumbled on a situation where I needed to run a bunch of lines of bash code (not separated with semicolons) from within python. In this scenario the proposed solutions do not help. One approach would be to save a file and then run it with Popen, but it wasn't possible in my situation.

What I ended up doing is something like:

You need read access, in addition to execute access, to list a directory. If you only have execute access, then you can find out the names of entries in the directory, but no other information (not even types, so you don't know which of the entries are subdirectories). This works for me:

If you have the milliseconds since the Epoch and want to convert them to a local date using the current local timezone, you can use

I would solve this like that. First, I'd create an instance of your given datetime object. Then, I'd create another datetime object which is 7 days later than the initial one. And finally, I'd format it the way you like.

With meringue library, this is quite intuitive and elegant. Here's the code:

As described in a comment by qungu, OS X maintains an autosaved version history of files, even if you're not using time machine.

So, if you've blown away your unstaged local changes with a careless git checkout ., here's how you can probably recover all your work.

If somebody finds this thread having destroyed some work in XCode, there is a way to get the AutoSave history. XCode itself does not have a menu entry to see the AutoSave history, but it does store it. If you open the files in question in TextEdit, you can revert and look through the AutoSave history under File > Revert.

Which is awesome, and recovered about a day of work for me, yesterday.

You might ask, "Why doesn't the git command-line UI, the premier VCS used for software engineering in 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020, at least back up files before just blowing them away? Like, you know, well written software tools for about the last three decades."

Or perhaps you ask, "Why is this insanely awesome file history feature accessible in TextEdit but not Xcode where I actually need it?"

… and both of those, I think, will tell you quite a lot about our industry. Or maybe you'll go and fix those tools. Which would be super.

Check your antivirus and firewall settings.

From one day to the other, git did not work anymore. With what is described above, I found that Kaspersky puts a self-signed Anti-virus personal root certificate in the middle. I did not manage to let Git accept that certificate following the instructions above. I gave up on that. What works for me is to disable the feature to Scan encrypted connections.

1. Open Kaspersky
2. Settings > Additional > Network > Do not scan encrypted connections

After this, git works again with sslVerify enabled.

Note. This is still not satisfying for me, because I would like to have that feature of my Anti-Virus active. In the advanced settings, Kaspersky shows a list of websites that will not work with that feature. Github is not listed as one of them. I will check it at the Kaspersky forum. The three constants have similar functions nowadays, but different historical origins, and very occasionally you may be required to use one or the other.

You need to think back to the days of old manual typewriters to get the origins of this. There are two distinct actions needed to start a new line of text:

1. move the typing head back to the left. In practice in a typewriter this is done by moving the roll which carries the paper (the "carriage") all the way back to the right -- the typing head is fixed. This is a carriage return.
2. move the paper up by the width of one line. This is a line feed.

In computers, these two actions are represented by two different characters - carriage return is CR, ASCII character 13, vbCr; line feed is LF, ASCII character 10, vbLf. In the old days of teletypes and line printers, the printer needed to be sent these two characters -- traditionally in the sequence CRLF -- to start a new line, and so the CRLF combination -- vbCrLf -- became a traditional line ending sequence, in some computing environments.

The problem was, of course, that it made just as much sense to only use one character to mark the line ending, and have the terminal or printer perform both the carriage return and line feed actions automatically. And so before you knew it, we had 3 different valid line endings: LF alone (used in Unix and Macintoshes), CR alone (apparently used in older Mac OSes) and the CRLF combination (used in DOS, and hence in Windows). This in turn led to the complications of DOS / Windows programs having the option of opening files in text mode, where any CRLF pair read from the file was converted to a single CR (and vice versa when writing).

So - to cut a (much too) long story short - there are historical reasons for the existence of the three separate line separators, which are now often irrelevant: and perhaps the best course of action in .NET is to use Environment.NewLine which means someone else has decided for you which to use, and future portability issues should be reduced.
