Well, I figured it out myself, right after posting, which is the most embarassing way. :)

It seems every member of a StackPanel will simply fill its minimum requested size.

In the DockPanel, I had docked things in the wrong order. If the TextBox or ListBox is the only docked item without an alignment, or if they are the last added, they WILL fill the remaining space as wanted.

I would love to see a more elegant method of handling this, but it will do.

I think your problem is that String.split() treats its argument as a regex, and regexes treat newlines specially. You may need to explicitly create a regex object to pass to split() (there is another overload of it) and configure that regex to allow newlines by passing MULTILINE in the flags param of Pattern.compile(). Docs

If you are using JDK7 or 8, you can use try-catch with resources.This will automatically close the scanner.

Phil Haack has a nice article where he created a Custom File Download Action Result class. You only need to specify the virtual path of the file and the name to be saved as.

I recently found interesting case that produces FileNotFoundExeption when file is obviously exists on the disk. In my program I read file path from another text file and create File object:

The cause of the problem was that the path contained invisible \r\n characters at the end.

The fix in my case was:

File file = new File(path.trim()); 

To generalize a bit, the invisible / non-printing characters could have include space or tab characters, and possibly others, and they could have appeared at the beginning of the path, at the end, or embedded in the path. Trim will work in some cases but not all. There are a couple of things that you can help to spot this kind of problem:

1. Output the pathname with quote characters around it; e.g.

     System.out.println("Check me! '" + path + "'");
   

   and carefully check the output for spaces and line breaks where they shouldn't be.

2. Use a Java debugger to carefully examine the pathname string, character by character, looking for characters that shouldn't be there. (Also check for homoglyph characters!)

Beside accepted answer, you need to hold a reference of listener and remove when you don't need it. Otherwise you will get a null pointer exception for your ScrollView and memory leak (mentioned in comments of accepted answer).

This usually means that something is trying to access the @property "givenName".

If you were doing something with Interface Builder(IB), the usual cause is that you either:

1. deleted that property from the class, but haven't deleted the hookups in IB yet
2. OR: you have a File's Owner object set to the wrong class (check the properties - different depending which version of xcode you're using
   • to find the Class Name its set as. You probably copy/pasted a NIB file, and didn't change this field in the NIB), and you've hooked up an outlet for that class, but your actual File's Owner is something different

To go to the most recent commit:

git log --branches shows log of commits from all local branches
-1 limit to one commit → most recent commit
--pretty=format:"%H" format to only show commit hash
git checkout $(...) use output of subshell as argument for checkout

I just tried to run a test to compare a simple iteration, the optimization I introduced and the reverse do/while, where the elements in an array was tested in every loop.

And alas, no surprise, the three browsers I tested had very different results, though the optimized simple iteration was fastest in all !-)

They're closely related. A ClassNotFoundException is thrown when Java went looking for a particular class by name and could not successfully load it. A NoClassDefFoundError is thrown when Java went looking for a class that was linked into some existing code, but couldn't find it for one reason or another (e.g., wrong classpath, wrong version of Java, wrong version of a library) and is thoroughly fatal as it indicates that something has gone Badly Wrong.

If you've got a C background, a CNFE is like a failure to dlopen()/dlsym() and an NCDFE is a problem with the linker; in the second case, the class files concerned should never have been actually compiled in the configuration you're trying to use them.

Multiprocessing and pickling is broken and limited unless you jump outside the standard library.

If you use a fork of multiprocessing called pathos.multiprocesssing, you can directly use classes and class methods in multiprocessing's map functions. This is because dill is used instead of pickle or cPickle, and dill can serialize almost anything in python.

pathos.multiprocessing also provides an asynchronous map function… and it can map functions with multiple arguments (e.g. map(math.pow, [1,2,3], [4,5,6]))

As Trying as indicated, volatile deals only with visibility.

Consider this snippet in a concurrent environment:

The idea here is that some thread could change the value of isStopped from false to true in order to indicate to the subsequent loop that it is time to stop looping.

Intuitively, there is no problem. Logically if another thread makes isStopped equal to true, then the loop must terminate. The reality is that the loop will likely never terminate even if another thread makes isStopped equal to true.

The reason for this is not intuitive, but consider that modern processors have multiple cores and that each core has multiple registers and multiple levels of cache memory that are not accessible to other processors. In other words, values that are cached in one processor's local memory are not visisble to threads executing on a different processor. Herein lies one of the central problems with concurrency: visibility.

The Java Memory Model makes no guarantees whatsoever about when changes that are made to a variable in one thread may become visible to other threads. In order to guarantee that updates are visisble as soon as they are made, you must synchronize.

The volatile keyword is a weak form of synchronization. While it does nothing for mutual exclusion or atomicity, it does provide a guarantee that changes made to a variable in one thread will become visible to other threads as soon as it is made. Because individual reads and writes to variables that are not 8-bytes are atomic in Java, declaring variables volatile provides an easy mechanism for providing visibility in situations where there are no other atomicity or mutual exclusion requirements.

You just have to define that Animal implements Comparable<Animal> i.e. public class Animal implements Comparable<Animal>. And then you have to implement the compareTo(Animal other) method that way you like it.

The order-preserving aspect of this new implementation is considered an implementation detail and should not be relied upon

dict is not explicitly meant to be an ordered collection, so if you want to stay consistent and not rely on a side effect of the new implementation you should stick with OrderedDict.

Make your code future proof :)

This actually happens because the complex objects are what makes the resulting json object fails. And it fails because when the object is mapped it maps the children, which maps their parents, making a circular reference to occur. Json would take infinite time to serialize it, so it prevents the problem with the exception.

Entity Framework mapping also produces the same behavior, and the solution is to discard all unwanted properties.

Just expliciting the final answer, the whole code would be:

The problem is that they're all the same exact list in memory. When you use the [x]*n syntax, what you get is a list of n many x objects, but they're all references to the same object. They're not distinct instances, rather, just n references to the same instance.

As Peter and Amro illustrate, you have to convert numeric values to formatted strings first in order to display them or concatenate them with other character strings. You can do this using the functions FPRINTF, SPRINTF, NUM2STR, and INT2STR.

With respect to getting ans = 3 as an output, it is probably because you are not assigning the output from answer to a variable. If you want to get all of the output values, you will have to call answer in the following way:

[out1,out2,out3] = answer(1,2);

This will place the value d in out1, the value e in out2, and the value f in out3. When you do the following:

answer(1,2)

MATLAB will automatically assign the first output d (which has the value 3 in this case) to the default workspace variable ans.

With respect to suggesting a good resource for learning MATLAB, you shouldn't underestimate the value of the MATLAB documentation. I've learned most of what I know on my own using it. You can access it online, or within your copy of MATLAB using the functions DOC, HELP, or HELPWIN.

They can also provide a kind of naming collision protection for plugin data. For example, the new Change Data Capture feature in SQL Server 2008 puts the tables it uses in a separate cdc schema. This way, they don't have to worry about a naming conflict between a CDC table and a real table used in the database, and for that matter can deliberately shadow the names of the real tables.

Bash does not know about .environment. I suspect that's a file of your distribution, to set environment variables independent of the shell that you drive.

This post is now nearly 5 years old! Python-2.7 will stop receiving official updates from python.org in 2020. Also, Python-3.7 has been released. Check out Python-Future on how to make your Python-2 code compatible with Python-3. For updating conda, the documentation now recommends using conda update --all in each of your conda environments to update all packages and the Python executable for that version. Also, since they changed their name to Anaconda, I don't know if the Windows registry keys are still the same.

There have been no updates to Python(x,y) since June of 2015, so I think it's safe to assume it has been abandoned.

As @cxw comments below, these answers are for the same bit-versions, and by bit-version I mean 64-bit vs. 32-bit. For example, these answers would apply to updating from 64-bit Python-2.7.10 to 64-bit Python-2.7.11, ie: the same bit-version. While it is possible to install two different bit versions of Python together, it would require some hacking, so I'll save that exercise for the reader. If you don't want to hack, I suggest that if switching bit-versions, remove the other bit-version first.

• Anaconda and MiniConda can be used with an existing Python installation by disabling the options to alter the Windows PATH and Registry. After extraction, create a symlink to conda in your bin or install conda from PyPI. Then create another symlink called conda-activate to activate in the Anaconda/Miniconda root bin folder. Now Anaconda/Miniconda is just like Ruby RVM. Just use conda-activate root to enable Anaconda/Miniconda.
• Portable Python is no longer being developed or maintained.

TL;DR

• Using Anaconda or miniconda, then just execute conda update --all to keep each conda environment updated,
• same major version of official Python (e.g. 2.7.5), just install over old (e.g. 2.7.4),
• different major version of official Python (e.g. 3.3), install side-by-side with old, set paths/associations to point to dominant (e.g. 2.7), shortcut to other (e.g. in BASH $ ln /c/Python33/python.exe python3).

The answer depends:

1. If OP has 2.7.x and wants to install newer version of 2.7.x, then

   • if using MSI installer from the official Python website, just install over old version, installer will issue warning that it will remove and replace the older version; looking in "installed programs" in "control panel" before and after confirms that the old version has been replaced by the new version; newer versions of 2.7.x are backwards compatible so this is completely safe and therefore IMHO multiple versions of 2.7.x should never necessary.
   • if building from source, then you should probably build in a fresh, clean directory, and then point your path to the new build once it passes all tests and you are confident that it has been built successfully, but you may wish to keep the old build around because building from source may occasionally have issues. See my guide for building Python x64 on Windows 7 with SDK 7.0.
   • if installing from a distribution such as Python(x,y), see their website. Python(x,y) has been abandoned. I believe that updates can be handled from within Python(x,y) with their package manager, but updates are also included on their website. I could not find a specific reference so perhaps someone else can speak to this. Similar to ActiveState and probably Enthought, Python (x,y) clearly states it is incompatible with other installations of Python:

     It is recommended to uninstall any other Python distribution before installing Python(x,y)

   • Enthought Canopy uses an MSI and will install either into Program Files\Enthought or home\AppData\Local\Enthought\Canopy\App for all users or per user respectively. Newer installations are updated by using the built in update tool. See their documentation.
   • ActiveState also uses an MSI so newer installations can be installed on top of older ones. See their installation notes.

     Other Python 2.7 Installations On Windows, ActivePython 2.7 cannot coexist with other Python 2.7 installations (for example, a Python 2.7 build from python.org). Uninstall any other Python 2.7 installations before installing ActivePython 2.7.

   • Sage recommends that you install it into a virtual machine, and provides a Oracle VirtualBox image file that can be used for this purpose. Upgrades are handled internally by issuing the sage -upgrade command.

   • Anaconda can be updated by using the conda command:

     conda update --all
     

     Anaconda/Miniconda lets users create environments to manage multiple Python versions including Python-2.6, 2.7, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5. The root Anaconda/Miniconda installations are currently based on either Python-2.7 or Python-3.5.

     Anaconda will likely disrupt any other Python installations. Installation uses MSI installer. [UPDATE: 2016-05-16] Anaconda and Miniconda now use .exe installers and provide options to disable Windows PATH and Registry alterations.

     Therefore Anaconda/Miniconda can be installed without disrupting existing Python installations depending on how it was installed and the options that were selected during installation. If the .exe installer is used and the options to alter Windows PATH and Registry are not disabled, then any previous Python installations will be disabled, but simply uninstalling the Anaconda/Miniconda installation should restore the original Python installation, except maybe the Windows Registry Python\PythonCore keys.

     Anaconda/Miniconda makes the following registry edits regardless of the installation options: HKCU\Software\Python\ContinuumAnalytics\ with the following keys: Help, InstallPath, Modules and PythonPath - official Python registers these keys too, but under Python\PythonCore. Also uninstallation info is registered for Anaconda\Miniconda. Unless you select the "Register with Windows" option during installation, it doesn't create PythonCore, so integrations like Python Tools for Visual Studio do not automatically see Anaconda/Miniconda. If the option to register Anaconda/Miniconda is enabled, then I think your existing Python Windows Registry keys will be altered and uninstallation will probably not restore them.

   • WinPython updates, I think, can be handled through the WinPython Control Panel.
   • PortablePython is no longer being developed. It had no update method. Possibly updates could be unzipped into a fresh directory and then App\lib\site-packages and App\Scripts could be copied to the new installation, but if this didn't work then reinstalling all packages might have been necessary. Use pip list to see what packages were installed and their versions. Some were installed by PortablePython. Use easy_install pip to install pip if it wasn't installed.

2. If OP has 2.7.x and wants to install a different version, e.g. <=2.6.x or >=3.x.x, then installing different versions side-by-side is fine. You must choose which version of Python (if any) to associate with *.py files and which you want on your path, although you should be able to set up shells with different paths if you use BASH. AFAIK 2.7.x is backwards compatible with 2.6.x, so IMHO side-by-side installs is not necessary, however Python-3.x.x is not backwards compatible, so my recommendation would be to put Python-2.7 on your path and have Python-3 be an optional version by creating a shortcut to its executable called python3 (this is a common setup on Linux). The official Python default install path on Windows is

   • C:\Python33 for 3.3.x (latest 2013-07-29)
   • C:\Python32 for 3.2.x
   • &c.
   • C:\Python27 for 2.7.x (latest 2013-07-29)
   • C:\Python26 for 2.6.x
   • &c.

3. If OP is not updating Python, but merely updating packages, they may wish to look into virtualenv to keep the different versions of packages specific to their development projects separate. Pip is also a great tool to update packages. If packages use binary installers I usually uninstall the old package before installing the new one.

You can do this using blaze & odo efficiently

Odo will store the csv file to data.db (sqlite database) under the schema data

Or you use odo directly, without blaze. Either ways is fine. Read this documentation

Just add this section to Web.config, and all requests to the route/{*pathInfo} will be handled by the specified handler, even when there are dots in pathInfo. (taken from ServiceStack MVC Host Web.config example and this answer https://stackoverflow.com/a/12151501/801189)

This should work for both IIS 6 & 7. You could assign specific handlers to different paths after the 'route' by modifying path="*" in 'add' elements

I find this works easier. readonly the input field, then style it so the end user knows it's read only. inputs placed here (from AJAX for example) can still submit, without extra code.

Just as a heads up. I had the same problem and none of the above fixed it for me. Eventually I found out that respond.js doesn't parse CSS referenced via @import. I had the whole bootstrap.min.css imported via @import into my main.css.

So make sure you don't have any CSS that contains your media queries referenced via @import.

The getRow() method retrieves the current row number, not the number of rows. So before starting to iterate over the ResultSet, getRow() returns 0.

To get the actual number of rows returned after executing your query, there is no free method: you are supposed to iterate over it.

Yet, if you really need to retrieve the total number of rows before processing them, you can:

1. ResultSet.last()
2. ResultSet.getRow() to get the total number of rows
3. ResultSet.beforeFirst()
4. Process the ResultSet normally

Well my 2 cents when it comes to the topic word 2007 docx, word 97-2004 doc, pdf and all other types of MS Office wishing to be "converted from y to z but in real they don't wanna be". In my experience so far, conversion with LibreOffice or OpenOffice can't be relied on. Though .doc documents tend to be better supported than word 2007's .docx. In general it's very hard to convert the .docx to .doc without breaking anything.

.docx also tend to be extremely useful for templating where .doc is not for being binary.

The conversion from .doc to PDF was most of the time quite reliable. If you can still influence the design or content of the word document then this might be satisfying, but in my situation documents were supplied from foreign companies where even after generating the .docx templates, in some scenario's, the generated .docx had to be slightly modified with supplement text before it was generated to a PDF.

WINDOWS BASED!

All this hiccup made me come to the conclusion that the only true reliable conversion method I found was using the COM class in PHP and let the MS Word or Excel Application do all the work for you. I'll just give an example on converting .docx to .doc and/or PDF. If you do not have MS Office installed, you can download a trial version of 60 days which would give you enough room for testing purposes.

the COM.net extension is by default commented out in the php.ini, just search for the line php_com_dotnet.dll and uncomment it like so

Restart the web server (IIS is not a pre, Apache will work just as well).

You can't move a mouse but can lock it. Note: that you must call requestPointerLock in click event.

There are multiple easy ways.

1. Just touch web.xml of any webapp.

   touch /usr/share/tomcat/webapps/<WEBAPP-NAME>/WEB-INF/web.xml
   

You can also update a particular jar file in WEB-INF/lib and then touch web.xml, rather than building whole war file and deploying it again.

2. Delete webapps/YOUR_WEB_APP directory, Tomcat will start deploying war within 5 seconds (assuming your war file still exists in webapps folder).

3. Generally overwriting war file with new version gets redeployed by tomcat automatically. If not, you can touch web.xml as explained above.

4. Copy over an already exploded "directory" to your webapps folder

To summarize:

• vars() and __dict__ only return instance-local properties;
• dir() returns everything, but only as a list of string member names; dynamic properties are not called;
• inspect.getmembers() returns everything, as a list of tuples (name, value); it actually runs dynamic properties, and accepts an optional predicate argument that can filter out members by value.

So my common-sense approach is typically to use dir() on the command line, and getmembers() in programs, unless specific performance considerations apply.

Note that, to keep things cleaner, I did not include __slots__ - if present, it was explicitly put there to be queried, and should be used directly. I also did not cover metaclasses, which can get a bit hairy (most people will never use them anyway).

If you don't want to use jsonify for some reason, you can do what it does manually. Call flask.json.dumps to create JSON data, then return a response with the application/json content type.

• max is the highest value that the seek bar can go to. The default is 100. The minimum is 0. The xml min value is only available from API 26, but you can just programmatically convert the 0-100 range to whatever you need for earlier versions.

As eaon21 and monkey said, source map files basically turn minified code into its unminified version for debugging.

You can find the .map files here. Just add them into the same directory as the minified js files and it'll stop complaining. The reason they get fetched is the

at the end of angular.min.js. If you don't want to add the .map files you can remove those lines and it'll stop the fetch attempt, but if you plan on debugging it's always good to keep the source maps linked.

Everything was too difficult or badly documented so I solved this with a simple script swagger-yaml-to-html.py, which works like this

Change the content type to ms-excel in the html and browser shall open the html in the Excel as xls. If you want control over the transformation of HTML to excel use POI libraries to do so.

If your segue exists in the storyboard with a segue identifier between your two views, you can just call it programmatically using

I will recommend you for second approach using navigation controller.

Either one would work. It depends on your needs:
If your bean identifier contains special character(s) for example (/viewSummary.html), it wont be allowed as the bean id, because it's not a valid XML ID. In such cases you could skip defining the bean id and supply the bean name instead.
The name attribute also helps in defining aliases for your bean, since it allows specifying multiple identifiers for a given bean.

Although the identity of two queries seems obvious sometimes some strange things happens. I have come accros the query wich has different execution plans when moving join predicate from JOIN to WHERE in Oracle 10g (for WHERE plan is better), but I can't reproduce this issue in simplified tables and data. I think it depends on my data and statistics. Optimizer is quite complex module and sometimes it behaves magically.

I solved this problem by changing the data type. If you see the 'Energy Supply per Capita' is a numerical type while the 'Citable docs per Capita' is an object type. I think in the question and in some of the answers there is a bit of confusion about the meaning of this pseudocode in DOS: IF A IF B X ELSE Y. It does not mean IF(A and B) THEN X ELSE Y, but in fact means IF A( IF B THEN X ELSE Y). If the test of A fails, then he whole of the inner if-else will be ignored.

As one of the answers mentioned, in this case only one of the tests can succeed so the 'else' is not needed, but of course that only works in this example, it isn't a general solution for doing if-else.

Please note that, the repeatable in repeatable read regards to a tuple, but not to the entire table. In ANSC isolation levels, phantom read anomaly can occur, which means read a table with the same where clause twice may return different return different result sets. Literally, it's not repeatable.

After doing everything above, I still got errors. My problem ended up being that the Swift files I needed weren't added to the bundle resources for some reason.

Space characters may only be encoded as "+" in one context: application/x-www-form-urlencoded key-value pairs.

playSound is a static method meaning it exists when the program is loaded. audioSounds and minTime are SoundManager instance variable, meaning they will exist within an instance of SoundManager. You have not created an instance of SoundManager so audioSounds doesn't exist (or it does but you do not have a reference to a SoundManager object to see that).

To solve your problem you can either make audioSounds static:

It sounds like you want to control whether components published in your manifest are active, not dynamically register a receiver (via Context.registerReceiver()) while running.

git checkout has the --ours option to check out the version of the file that you had locally (as opposed to --theirs, which is the version that you pulled in). You can pass . to git checkout to tell it to check out everything in the tree. Then you need to mark the conflicts as resolved, which you can do with git add, and commit your work once done:

Note the . in the git checkout command. That's very important, and easy to miss. git checkout has two modes; one in which it switches branches, and one in which it checks files out of the index into the working copy (sometimes pulling them into the index from another revision first). The way it distinguishes is by whether you've passed a filename in; if you haven't passed in a filename, it tries switching branches (though if you don't pass in a branch either, it will just try checking out the current branch again), but it refuses to do so if there are modified files that that would effect. So, if you want a behavior that will overwrite existing files, you need to pass in . or a filename in order to get the second behavior from git checkout.

It's also a good habit to have, when passing in a filename, to offset it with --, such as git checkout --ours -- <filename>. If you don't do this, and the filename happens to match the name of a branch or tag, Git will think that you want to check that revision out, instead of checking that filename out, and so use the first form of the checkout command.

I'll expand a bit on how conflicts and merging work in Git. When you merge in someone else's code (which also happens during a pull; a pull is essentially a fetch followed by a merge), there are few possible situations.

The simplest is that you're on the same revision. In this case, you're "already up to date", and nothing happens.

Another possibility is that their revision is simply a descendent of yours, in which case you will by default have a "fast-forward merge", in which your HEAD is just updated to their commit, with no merging happening (this can be disabled if you really want to record a merge, using --no-ff).

Then you get into the situations in which you actually need to merge two revisions. In this case, there are two possible outcomes. One is that the merge happens cleanly; all of the changes are in different files, or are in the same files but far enough apart that both sets of changes can be applied without problems. By default, when a clean merge happens, it is automatically committed, though you can disable this with --no-commit if you need to edit it beforehand (for instance, if you rename function foo to bar, and someone else adds new code that calls foo, it will merge cleanly, but produce a broken tree, so you may want to clean that up as part of the merge commit in order to avoid having any broken commits).

The final possibility is that there's a real merge, and there are conflicts. In this case, Git will do as much of the merge as it can, and produce files with conflict markers (<<<<<<<, =======, and >>>>>>>) in your working copy. In the index (also known as the "staging area"; the place where files are stored by git add before committing them), you will have 3 versions of each file with conflicts; there is the original version of the file from the ancestor of the two branches you are merging, the version from HEAD (your side of the merge), and the version from the remote branch.

In order to resolve the conflict, you can either edit the file that is in your working copy, removing the conflict markers and fixing the code up so that it works. Or, you can check out the version from one or the other sides of the merge, using git checkout --ours or git checkout --theirs. Once you have put the file into the state you want it, you indicate that you are done merging the file and it is ready to commit using git add, and then you can commit the merge with git commit.

If you are not using ng-bind, instead something like this:

Note that this is code to use together with std::string, if you're using char*, replace s.size() with strlen(s).

Also note: I can understand you want something "as small as possible", but I'd suggest you to use this solution instead. As you see you can use a function to encapsulate the code for you so you won't have to write out the for loop everytime, but can just use count_underscores("my_string_") in the rest of your code. Using advanced C++ algorithms is certainly possible here, but I think it's overkill.

You were on the right track with response.getOutputStream(), but you're not using its output anywhere in your code. Essentially what you need to do is to stream the PDF file's bytes directly to the output stream and flush the response. In Spring you can do it like this:

Notes:

• use meaningful names for your methods: naming a method that writes a PDF document showHelp is not a good idea
• reading a file into a byte[]: example here
• I'd suggest adding a random string to the temporary PDF file name inside showHelp() to avoid overwriting the file if two users send a request at the same time
