ISNULL always tries to return a result that has the same data type as the type of its first argument. So, if you want the result to be a string (varchar), you'd best make sure that's the type of the first argument.


COALESCE is usually a better function to use than ISNULL, since it considers all argument data types and applies appropriate precedence rules to determine the final resulting data type. Unfortunately, in this case, uniqueidentifier has higher precedence than varchar, so that doesn't help.

(It's also generally preferred because it extends to more than two arguments)

Firstly, you need to install pip for the Python 3 installation that you want. Then you run that pip to install packages for that Python version.

Since you have both pip and python 3 in /usr/bin, I assume they are both installed with a package manager of some sort. That package manager should also have a Python 3 pip. That's the one you should install.

Felix' recommendation of virtualenv is a good one. If you are only testing, or you are doing development, then you shouldn't install the package in the system python. Using virtualenv, or even building your own Pythons for development, is better in those cases.

But if you actually do want to install this package in the system python, installing pip for Python 3 is the way to go.

Removing the password from a VBA project

Another way to remove VBA project password is;

  • Open xls file with a hex editor. (ie. Hex Edit http://www.hexedit.com/)
  • Search for DPB
  • Replace DPB to DPx
  • Save file.
  • Open file in Excel.
  • Click "Yes" if you get any message box.
  • Set new password from VBA Project Properties.
  • Close and open again file, then type your new password to unprotect.

UPDATE: For Excel 2010 (Works for MS Office Pro Plus 2010 [14.0.6023.1000 64bit]),

  • Open the XLSX file with 7zip

If workbook is protected:

  • Browse the folder xl
  • If the workbook is protected, right click workbook.xml and select Edit

  • Remove XXXX part. (ie. <workbookProtection workbookPassword="" lockStructure="1"/>)
  • Save the file.
  • When 7zip asks you to update the archive, say Yes.
  • Close 7zip and re-open your XLSX.
  • Click Protect Workbook on Review tab.
  • Optional: Save your file.

If worksheets are protected:

On my server this takes ~10 ms as opposed to the ~16-20 ms when selecting from sys.objects. It also has the added benefit of not being dependent on how many objects are in sys.objects. While it's pretty safe, it's technically a dependency and the other one goes faster anyway. I think the speed boost is down to using BITs if you change:

DECLARE @BIT AS BIT = 0

to:

DECLARE @BIT AS BIGINT = 0

It adds ~8-10 ms to the total time on my server. That said, when you scale up to 1,000,000 records BIT vs BIGINT doesn't appreciably affect my query anymore, but it still runs around ~680ms vs ~730ms from sys.objects.

Why both no-cache and no-store should be used in HTTP response?

Under certain circumstances, IE6 will still cache files even when Cache-Control: no-cache is in the response headers.

The W3C states of no-cache:

If the no-cache directive does not specify a field-name, then a cache MUST NOT use the response to satisfy a subsequent request without successful revalidation with the origin server.

In my application, if you visited a page with the no-cache header, then logged out and then hit back in your browser, IE6 would still grab the page from the cache (without a new/validating request to the server). Adding in the no-store header stopped it doing so. But if you take the W3C at their word, there's actually no way to control this behavior:

History buffers MAY store such responses as part of their normal operation.

General differences between browser history and the normal HTTP caching are described in a specific sub-section of the spec.

This is using Hibernate 4.1.4.Final, though I suspect anything after 3.6 will work.

Using Environment Variables with Vue.js

If you use vue cli with the Webpack template (default config), you can create and add your environment variables to a .env file.

The variables will automatically be accessible under process.env.variableName in your project. Loaded variables are also available to all vue-cli-service commands, plugins and dependencies.

You have a few options, this is from the Environment Variables and Modes documentation:

If you are using an <img> tag for the SVG, then you cannot manipulate its contents (as far as I know).

Doesn't make much sense, your connection shouldn't be named $result but that is a naming issue not a coding one.

What is a coding issue is if($result), your saying if you can connect to the database regardless of the insert query failing or succeeding you will output "Image saved into database".

Rsync's syntax is definitely non-intuitive, but it is worth understanding.

  1. First, use -vvv to see the debug info for rsync.

The key concept here is that rsync applies the include/exclude patterns for each directory recursively. As soon as the first include/exclude is matched, the processing stops.

The first directory it evaluates is /Storage/uploads. Storage/uploads has 1280000000/, 1260000000/, 1270000000/ dirs/files. None of them match file_11*.jpg to include. All of them match * to exclude. So they are excluded, and rsync ends.

If no other process is using the port 8080, Eventhough eclipse shows the port 8080 is used while starting the server in eclipse, first you have to stop the server by hitting the stop button in "Configure Tomcat"(which you can find in your start menu under tomcat folder), then try to start the server in eclipse then it will be started.

If any other process is using the port 8080 and as well as you no need to disturb it. then you can change the port.

JNI and Gradle in Android Studio

In my case, I'm on Windows and following the answer by Cameron above only works if you use the full name of the ndk-build which is ndk-build.cmd. I have to clean and rebuild the project, then restart the emulator before getting the app to work (Actually I imported the sample HelloJni from NDK, into Android Studio). The export default {...} construction is just a shortcut for something like this:

There is no way to recursively search through the classpath. You need to know the Full pathname of a resource to be able to retrieve it in this way. The resource may be in a directory in the file system or in a jar file so it is not as simple as performing a directory listing of "the classpath". Upgrading from Kepler to Luna worked for me.

I had just added some components for Java 1.8 support. It seems that they where not as compatible as I would like or that I mixed the wrong ones. It really caused a lot of problems. Trying to update the system reported errors as they couldn't fulfill some dependencies. Maven upgrades didn't work. Tried a lot of things.

So, if there is no reason to avoid the upgrade just add the luna repository to avalilable software sites (Luna http://download.eclipse.org/releases/luna/ ) and "check for updates". It is better to have all the components with the same version and there are some nice new features.

Android SDK Manager Not Installing Components

I was getting a similar permission issue and SDK Manager could not download and install new components. Error message was (I'm running Android Studio (I/O Preview) 0.2.9)

"Unable to create C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-studio\sdk\temp"

Although solution was infact what @william-tate's answer says, I could not run the 'SDK Manager' directly. It fails with message:

Failed to execute tools\android.bat The system cannot find the file specified.

Instead I ran the 'tools\android.bat' as Administrator, which in turn launched SDK Manager with same permissions which fixed the issue.

Hope this helps for someone who faces the issue I faced.

You can use the filter_input() function with FILTER_VALIDATE_INT and FILTER_NULL_ON_FAILURE to filter only integer values out of the $_GET variable. Works pretty accurately! :)

However you can also get some the same + additional information from

I usually use SYSCAT.COLUMNS to find the related tables in the database where I already know the column name :)

Another good way if you want to get the DDL of a particular table or the whole database is to use the db2look

# db2look -d *dbname* -t *tablename* > tablestructure.out

This will generate the ".out" file for you which will contain the particular table's DDL script.

# db2look -d *dbname* -e > dbstructure.out

This will generate the entire database's DDL as a single script file, this is usually used to replicate the database, "-e" is to indicate that one wants to export DDL suitable recreate exact same setup in a new database.

Server configuration is missing in Eclipse

As Yoni already mentioned, you probably deleted the project named "Servers" from your Project Explorer. If config files for the server still present on a file system, the quickest way to restore it will be Right Click in Project Explorer->Import->General->Existing Projects into Workspace, then select the root dir where Servers dir located, set checkbox near "Servers" and finally click Finish. If everything works as expected, you should see the 'Servers' project added to the Project Explorer view and your old config files will be there. Finally, save the tomcat configuration which you had open. You can startup your Tomcat server without errors now.

Custom style to jquery ui dialogs

The solution only solves part of the problem, it may let you style the container and contents but doesn't let you change the titlebar. I developed a workaround of sorts but adding an id to the dialog div, then using jQuery .prev to change the style of the div which is the previous sibling of the dialog's div. This works because when jQueryUI creates the dialog, your original div becomes a sibling of the new container, but the title div is a the immediately previous sibling to your original div but neither the container not the title div has an id to simplify selecting the div.

Some Common Mistakes.

1.findViewById() of non existing view

Like when you use findViewById(R.id.button) when button id does not exist in layout XML.

2. Wrong cast.

If you wrong cast some class, then you get this error. Like you cast RelativeLayout to LinearLayout or EditText to TextView.

3. Activity not registered in manifest.xml

If you did not register Activity in manifest.xml then this error comes.

4. findViewById() with declaration at top level

Below code is incorrect. This will create error. Because you should do findViewById() after calling setContentView(). Because an View can be there after it is created.

I use RStudio or Emacs and always use the editor shortcuts available to comment regions. If this is not a possibility then you could use Paul's answer but this only works if your code is syntactically correct.

Here is another dirty way I came up with, wrap it in scan() and remove the result. It does store the comment in memory for a short while so it will probably not work with very large comments. Best still is to just put # signs in front of every line (possibly with editor shortcuts).

It is likely that you're using a pager such as less or most since the output of ps aux is longer than a screenful. If so, the following options will cause (or force) long lines to wrap instead of being truncated.

ps aux | less -+S

If you use either of the following commands, lines won't be wrapped but you can use your arrow keys or other movement keys to scroll left and right.

This thread is a bit older, but thought I'd post what I currently do (work in progress).

Though I'm still hitting situations where the system is under heavy load and when I click a submit button (e.g., login.jsp), all three conditions (see below) return true but the next page (e.g., home.jsp) hasn't started loading yet.

This is a generic wait method that takes a list of ExpectedConditions.

This will let Git authenticate on HTTPS using .netrc:
