What's the best way to share data between activities?

What you can use:

  1. passing data between activities (like Cristian said)
  2. using a class with a lot of static variables (so you can call them without an instance of the class and without using getter/setter)
  3. Using a database
  4. Shared Preferences

What you choose depends on your needs. Probably you will use more than one way when you have "a lot of"

Updating GUI (WPF) using a different thread

You need to use Dispatcher.BeginInvoke. I did not test it but you can check this link(this is the same link provided by Julio G) to have better understanding on how to update the UI controls from different thread. I have modified your ReadData() code

Facebook no longer supports custom parameters in sharer.php

The sharer will no longer accept custom parameters and facebook will pull the information that is being displayed in the preview the same way that it would appear on facebook as a post from the url OG meta tags.

if you want to use String operation then you can use the function lastIndexOf( ) which Searches for the last occurrence of a character or substring. Java has numerous string functions.

then you can use this CircularArrayList for Java in this way (for example):

Could not load type 'XXX.Global'

There are a few things you can try with this, seems to happen alot and the solution varies for everyone it seems.

  • If you are still using the IIS virtual directory make sure its pointed to the correct directory and also check the ASP.NET version it is set to, make sure it is set to ASP.NET 2.0.

  • Clear out your bin/debug/obj all of them. Do a Clean solution and then a Build Solution.

  • Check your project file in a text editor and make sure where its looking for the global file is correct, sometimes it doesnt change the directory.

  • Remove the global from the solution and add it back after saving and closing. make sure all the script tags in the ASPX file point to the correct one after.

  • You can try running the Convert to Web Application tool, that redoes all of the code and project files.

  • IIS Express is using the wrong root directory (see answer in VS 2012 launching app based on wrong path)

Make sure you close VS after you try them.

Those are some things I know to try. Hope one of them works for you.

If this is output from a Dockerfile then you don't want / need to commit it.

However you will want to tag the base image and any other contributing images / applications.

  • Go to your WinSCP profile (Session > Sites > Site Manager)

  • Click on Edit > Advanced... > Environment > SFTP

  • Insert sudo su -c /usr/lib/sftp-server in "SFTP Server" (note this path might be different in your system)

File path for project files?

I was facing a similar issue, I had a file on my project, and wanted to test a class which had to deal with loading files from the FS and process them some way. What I did was:

  • added the file test.txt to my test project
  • on the solution explorer hit alt-enter (file properties)
  • there I set BuildAction to Content and Copy to Output Directory to Copy if newer, I guess Copy always would have done it as well

then on my tests I just had to Path.Combine(Environment.CurrentDirectory, "test.txt") and that's it. Whenever the project is compiled it will copy the file (and all it's parent path, in case it was in, say, a folder) to the bin\Debug (or whatever configuration you are using) folder.

I suppose you have imported math.h with #include <math.h>

So the only other reason I can see is a missing linking information. You must link your code with the -lm option.

If you're simply trying to compile one file with gcc, just add -lm to your command line, otherwise, give some informations about your building process.

concatenate char array in C

in rare cases when you can't use strncat, strcat or strcpy. And you don't have access to <string.h> so you can't use strlen. Also you maybe don't even know the size of the char arrays and you still want to concatenate because you got only pointers. Well, you can do old school malloc and count characters yourself like..

The way you declare the date property as an input looks incorrect but its hard to say if it's the only problem without seeing all your code. Rather than using @Input('date') declare the date property like so: private _date: string;. Also, make sure you are instantiating the model with the new keyword. Why can a function modify some arguments as perceived by the caller, but not others?

n is an int (immutable), and a copy is passed to the function, so in the function you are changing the copy.

X is a list (mutable), and a copy of the pointer is passed o the function so x.append(4) changes the contents of the list. However, you you said x = [0,1,2,3,4] in your function, you would not change the contents of x in main().

To prevent spoofing - Gmail/Outlook.com won't let you send from an arbitrary user account name.

If you have a limited number of senders you can follow these instructions and then set the From field to this address: Sending mail from a different address

If you are wanting to send from an arbitrary email address (such as a feedback form on website where the user enters their email and you don't want them emailing you directly) about the best you can do is this :

        msg.ReplyToList.Add(new System.Net.Mail.MailAddress(email, friendlyName));

This would let you just hit 'reply' in your email account to reply to the fan of your band on a feedback page, but they wouldn't get your actual email which would likely lead to a tonne of spam.

If you're in a controlled environment this works great, but please note that I've seen some email clients send to the from address even when reply-to is specified (I don't know which).

How to pass ArrayList of Objects from one to another activity using Intent in android?

I do one of two things in this scenario

  1. Implement a serialize/deserialize system for my objects and pass them as Strings (in JSON format usually, but you can serialize them any way you'd like)

  2. Implement a container that lives outside of the activities so that all my activities can read and write to this container. You can make this container static or use some kind of dependency injection to retrieve the same instance in each activity.

Parcelable works just fine, but I always found it to be an ugly looking pattern and doesn't really add any value that isn't there if you write your own serialization code outside of the model.

How can I remove a pytz timezone from a datetime object?

To remove a timezone (tzinfo) from a datetime object:

If you are using a library like arrow, then you can remove timezone by simply converting an arrow object to to a datetime object, then doing the same thing as the example above.

Why would you do this? One example is that mysql does not support timezones with its DATETIME type. So using ORM's like sqlalchemy will simply remove the timezone when you give it a datetime.datetime object to insert into the database. The solution is to convert your datetime.datetime object to UTC (so everything in your database is UTC since it can't specify timezone) then either insert it into the database (where the timezone is removed anyway) or remove it yourself. Also note that you cannot compare datetime.datetime objects where one is timezone aware and another is timezone naive.

Is there a good reason I see VARCHAR(255) used so often (as opposed to another length)?

In many applications, like MsOffice (until version 2000 or 2002), the maximum number of characters per cell was 255. Moving data from programs able of handling more than 255 characters per field to/from those applications was a nightmare. Currently, the limit is less and less hindering.

Updating your Git configuration file directly (if you do not want to memorize fancy commands):

Open your .git/config file in your favorite text editor. It will be in the folder that you cloned or in the repository that you performed git init in. Go into that repository. .git is a hidden folder, and pressing Ctrl + H should show the hidden folder, (ls -a in terminal).

Since you added a new property to the model, you must first delete the database. Then manage.py migrations then manage.py migrate.

The underscore is simply a convention; nothing more. As such, its use is always somewhat different to each person. Here's how I understand them for the two languages in question:

In C++, an underscore usually indicates a private member variable.

In C#, I usually see it used only when defining the underlying private member variable for a public property. Other private member variables would not have an underscore. This usage has largely gone to the wayside with the advent of automatic properties though.

ctypes - Beginner

Firstly: The >>> code you see in python examples is a way to indicate that it is Python code. It's used to separate Python code from output. Like this:

>>> 4+5
9

Here we see that the line that starts with >>> is the Python code, and 9 is what it results in. This is exactly how it looks if you start a Python interpreter, which is why it's done like that.

You never enter the >>> part into a .py file.

That takes care of your syntax error.

Secondly, ctypes is just one of several ways of wrapping Python libraries. Other ways are SWIG, which will look at your Python library and generate a Python C extension module that exposes the C API. Another way is to use Cython.

They all have benefits and drawbacks.

SWIG will only expose your C API to Python. That means you don't get any objects or anything, you'll have to make a separate Python file doing that. It is however common to have a module called say "wowza" and a SWIG module called "_wowza" that is the wrapper around the C API. This is a nice and easy way of doing things.

Cython generates a C-Extension file. It has the benefit that all of the Python code you write is made into C, so the objects you write are also in C, which can be a performance improvement. But you'll have to learn how it interfaces with C so it's a little bit extra work to learn how to use it.

ctypes have the benefit that there is no C-code to compile, so it's very nice to use for wrapping standard libraries written by someone else, and already exists in binary versions for Windows and OS X.

The only way you can see if an event listener is attached is by attaching event listeners like this:

A hack the I've used on Solaris 9 and Linux and which works fine for both of them:

ps -o user= -p $$ | awk '{print $1}'

This snippet prints the name of the user with the current EUID.

NOTE: you need Bash as the interpreter here.

On Solaris you have problems with methods, described above:

  • id does not accept the -u and -n parameters (so you will have to parse the output)
  • whoami does not exist (by default)
  • who am I prints owner of current terminal (ignores EUID)

Automatic date update in a cell when another cell's value changes (as calculated by a formula)

You could fill the dependend cell (D2) by a User Defined Function (VBA Macro Function) that takes the value of the C2-Cell as input parameter, returning the current date as ouput.

Having C2 as input parameter for the UDF in D2 tells Excel that it needs to reevaluate D2 everytime C2 changes (that is if auto-calculation of formulas is turned on for the workbook).

EDIT:

Here is some code:

For the UDF:

As Formula in D2:

=UDF_Date(C2)

You will have to give the D2-Cell a Date-Time Format, or it will show a numeric representation of the date-value.

And you can expand the formula over the desired range by draging it if you keep the C2 reference in the D2-formula relative.

Note: This still might not be the ideal solution because every time Excel recalculates the workbook the date in D2 will be reset to the current value. To make D2 only reflect the last time C2 was changed there would have to be some kind of tracking of the past value(s) of C2. This could for example be implemented in the UDF by providing also the address alonside the value of the input parameter, storing the input parameters in a hidden sheet, and comparing them with the previous values everytime the UDF gets called.

Addendum:

Here is a sample implementation of an UDF that tracks the changes of the cell values and returns the date-time when the last changes was detected. When using it, please be aware that:

  • The usage of the UDF is the same as described above.

  • The UDF works only for single cell input ranges.

  • The cell values are tracked by storing the last value of cell and the date-time when the change was detected in the document properties of the workbook. If the formula is used over large datasets the size of the file might increase considerably as for every cell that is tracked by the formula the storage requirements increase (last value of cell + date of last change.) Also, maybe Excel is not capable of handling very large amounts of document properties and the code might brake at a certain point.

  • If the name of a worksheet is changed all the tracking information of the therein contained cells is lost.

  • The code might brake for cell-values for which conversion to string is non-deterministic.

  • The code below is not tested and should be regarded only as proof of concept. Use it at your own risk.

Make the insertion of the date conditional upon the range.

This has an advantage of not changing the dates unless the content of the cell is changed, and it is in the range C2:C2, even if the sheet is closed and saved, it doesn't recalculate unless the adjacent cell changes.

Just in case someone stumbles upon this like I did and doesn't realise, the two variations above are for different use cases.

The following:

is for when you want to add styles to elements that have either the blue-border or background class, for example:

would all get a blue border and white background applied to them.

The only way to truly test if a variable is undefined is to do the following. Remember, undefined is an object in JavaScript.

When you do the second one, you're making a new arraylist, you're not trying to pretend the other list is an arraylist.

I mean, what if the original list is implemented as a linkedlist, or some custom list? You won't know. The second approach is preferred if you really need to make an arraylist from the result. But you can just leave it as a list, that's one of the best advantages of using Interfaces!

How do I read a specified line in a text file?

While you can't seek an N'th line directly in a non-symmetrical file without reading data in the file (because you need to count how many lines you have progressed into the file) you can count line breaks until you get to the line you want which takes the least amount of memory and probably has the best performance.

This is going to be more memory efficient than reading everything to an array, since it will only read into the file until it hits the end of the file or the line number (whichever comes first). It is far from perfect, but will probably suit your needs:

The first parameter is the directive, the second is the sources to be white-listed. I've added Google analytics and an adserver, which you might have. Furthermore, I found that if you have aliases, e.g, www.example.com and example.com configured in Apache 2 you should add them to the white-list as well.

Inline code is considered harmful, and you should avoid it. Copy all the JavaScript code and CSS to separate files and add them to the white-list.

You can set the caret position using TextBox.CaretIndex. If the only thing you need is to set the cursor at the end, you can simply pass the string's length, eg:

Many times as API's are updated. We forgot to update SDK Managers. For accessing recent API's one should always have highest API Level updated if possible should also have other regularly used lower level APIs to accommodate backward compatibility.
Go to build.gradle (module.app) file change compileSdkVersion buildToolsVersion targetSdkVersion, all should have the highest level of API.

Try adding the line c = cv.WaitKey(10) at the bottom of your repeat() method.

This waits for 10 ms for the user to enter a key. Even if you're not using the key at all, put this in. I think there just needed to be some delay, so time.sleep(10) may also work.

In regards to the camera index, you could do something like this:

This will find the index of the first "working" capture device, at least for indices from 0-2. It's possible there are multiple devices in your computer recognized as a proper capture device. SSRS 2008 R2 - SSRS 2012 - ReportViewer: Reports are blank in Safari and Chrome

This is a known issue. The problem is that a div tag has the style "overflow: auto" which apparently is not implemented well with WebKit which is used by Safari and Chrome (see Emanuele Greco's answer). I did not know how to take advantage of Emanuele's suggestion to use the RS:ReportViewerHost element, but I solved it using JavaScript.

Solution

Since "overflow: auto" is specified in the style attribute of the div element with id "ctl31_ctl10", we can't override it in a stylesheet file so I resorted to JavaScript. For whatever reason it took me hours to realize that, and even though Harry's answer is very thorough I couldn't extract that information from "The last-child selector is used to select the last child element of a parent."

Suppose this is my selector: a:last-child {}

How do I select which GPU to run a job on?

Set the following two environment variables:

NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES=$gpu_id
CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES=0

where gpu_id is the ID of your selected GPU, as seen in the host system's nvidia-smi (a 0-based integer) that will be made available to the guest system (e.g. to the Docker container environment).

You can verify that a different card is selected for each value of gpu_id by inspecting Bus-Id parameter in nvidia-smi run in a terminal in the guest system).

This method based on NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES exposes only a single card to the system (with local ID zero), hence we also hard-code the other variable, CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES to 0 (mainly to prevent it from defaulting to an empty string that would indicate no GPU).

Note that the environmental variable should be set before the guest system is started (so no chances of doing it in your Jupyter Notebook's terminal), for instance using docker run -e NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES=0 or env in Kubernetes or Openshift.

If you want GPU load-balancing, make gpu_id random at each guest system start.

If setting this with python, make sure you are using strings for all environment variables, including numerical ones.

You can verify that a different card is selected for each value of gpu_id by inspecting nvidia-smi's Bus-Id parameter (in a terminal run in the guest system).

The accepted solution based on CUDA_VISIBLE_DEVICES alone does not hide other cards (different from the pinned one), and thus causes access errors if you try to use them in your GPU-enabled python packages. With this solution, other cards are not visible to the guest system, but other users still can access them and share their computing power on an equal basis, just like with CPU's (verified).

This is also preferable to solutions using Kubernetes / Openshift controlers (resources.limits.nvidia.com/gpu), that would impose a lock on the allocated card, removing it from the pool of available resources (so the number of containers with GPU access could not exceed the number of physical cards).

This has been tested under CUDA 8.0, 9.0 and 10.1 in docker containers running Ubuntu 18.04 orchestrated by Openshift 3.11.

How to access environment variable values?

There's also a number of great libraries. Envs for example will allow you to parse objects out of your environment variables, which is rad. For example:

i ended up splitting all my custom css into two files i don't use bootstrap navigation but my own so that is majority of my custom styles, so it will not resolve your entire problem but it works for me

the non-responsive.css is the one that has overrides for bootstrap my concern is layout so there is not much in there, given that i handle the navigation in my own way so css for it and the other bits is in my other css files

1- please note that this method only work for browser that support date type.

2- the first function in JS code is for browser that don't support date type and set the look to a normal text input.

3- if you will use this code for multiple date inputs in your page please change the ID "xTime" of the text input in both function call and the input itself to something else and of course use the name of the input you want for the form submit.

4-on the second function you can use any format you want instead of day+" / "+month+" / "+year for example year+" / "+month+" / "+day and in the text input use a placeholder or value as yyyy / mm / dd for the user when the page load.

Ken has the right solution, but you don't want to add the picturebox.Image.Load() member method.

If you do it with a Load and the ImageLocation is not set, it will fail with a "Image Location must be set" exception. If you use the picturebox.Refresh() member method, it works without the exception.

This phrase is not restricted to overflow of the upper bound of the type, and applies equally to values too low to be represented.

@jonrsharpe has an excellent explanation of what's going on. I thought I'd just show the difference in time when running each of the 3 options 10,000,000 times (enough for a slight difference to show).

So we can see that there is a very minute difference of ~0.7% between if not x == 'val': and if x != 'val':. Of these, if x != 'val': is the fastest.

However, most surprisingly, we can see that

is in fact the fastest, and beats if x != 'val': by ~0.3%. This isn't very readable, but I guess if you wanted a negligible performance improvement, one could go down this route.

How to test multiple variables against a value?

You misunderstand how boolean expressions work; they don't work like an English sentence and guess that you are talking about the same comparison for all names here. You are looking for:

if x == 1 or y == 1 or z == 1:

x and y are otherwise evaluated on their own (False if 0, True otherwise).

You can shorten that using a containment test against a tuple:

if 1 in (x, y, z):

or better still:

if 1 in {x, y, z}:

using a set to take advantage of the constant-cost membership test (in takes a fixed amount of time whatever the left-hand operand is).

When you use or, python sees each side of the operator as separate expressions. The expression x or y == 1 is treated as first a boolean test for x, then if that is False, the expression y == 1 is tested.

This is due to operator precedence. The or operator has a lower precedence than the == test, so the latter is evaluated first.

However, even if this were not the case, and the expression x or y or z == 1 was actually interpreted as (x or y or z) == 1 instead, this would still not do what you expect it to do.

x or y or z would evaluate to the first argument that is 'truthy', e.g. not False, numeric 0 or empty (see boolean expressions for details on what Python considers false in a boolean context).

So for the values x = 2; y = 1; z = 0, x or y or z would resolve to 2, because that is the first true-like value in the arguments. Then 2 == 1 would be False, even though y == 1 would be True.

The same would apply to the inverse; testing multiple values against a single variable; x == 1 or 2 or 3 would fail for the same reasons. Use x == 1 or x == 2 or x == 3 or x in {1, 2, 3}.

Now keep in mind there may be scope for improved efficiency if, for example, your data items are sorted (that could be inferred from the sample data but you don't explicitly state it). You could, for example, use a binary search to find the closest item.

You should also keep in mind that, unless you need to do it many times per second, the efficiency improvements will be mostly unnoticable unless your data sets get much larger.

If you do want to try it that way (and can guarantee the array is sorted in ascending order), this is a good starting point:

I had a similar issue where port 443 was blocked by PID 4. After breaking my head for several hours I found the command netsh show urlacl which gave me an idea of the system process blocking the port.

To run command run cmd or windows shell in administrator mode.

With this information I followed the microsoft link to change the listening port for SSTP based vpn. https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/947032

This resolved my port issue.

As the other answers state, you need to select an active scheme to something that is not a simulator, i.e. a device that's connected to your mac.

If you have no device connected to the mac then selecting "Generic IOS Device" works also.

Why not keep it simple?!

GB=DF.groupby([(DF.index.year),(DF.index.month)]).sum()

giving you,

print(GB)
        abc  xyz

and then you can plot like asked using,

GB.plot('abc','xyz',kind='scatter')

"SDK Platform Tools component is missing!"

I have been faced with a similar problem with SDK 24.0.2, and ADT 23.0, on windows 7 and Eclipse Luna (4.4.0). The android SDK Manager comes with default Proxy IP of 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and port 8081. So as you try to run the SDK Managers as advised by earlier solutions, it will try to connect through the default proxy settings, which keep on failing(...at least on my system). Therefore, if you do not need proxy settings, simply clear default proxy settings (i.e. remove proxy server IP and Port, leaving the fields empty). Otherwise set them as necessary. To access these settings in eclipse, go Window-> Android SDK Manager->Tools->Options.
