This is your actual problem; you must have at least one immutable property, a id or something like that, to identify corresponding objects in both lists. If you do not have such a property you, cannot solve the problem without errors. You can just try to guess corresponding objects by searching for minimal or logical changes.

If you have such an property, the solution becomes really simple.

Now I am confused ... what is the problem with that? Why not just the following?

The Math.Min() call may even be left out if equal length is guaranted.

Noldorin's implementation is of course smarter because of the delegate and the use of enumerators instead of using ICollection.

Slight variation, main difference being to set the primary key field ("varname") to null, which produces a warning but works. By setting the primary key to null, the auto-increment works when inserting the record in the last statement.

This code also cleans up previous attempts, and can be run more than once without problems:

When you're using Data Type: int you can select the row which you want to get autoincremented and go to the column properties tag. There you can set the identity to 'yes'. The starting value for autoincrement can also be edited there. Hope I could help ;)

If you have previously installed MySQL Workbench the problem is that another MySQL instance is running at 3306 port.

So uninstall MySQL and XAMPP and after that, reinstall only XAMPP.

This worked for me.

Regarding the issue with 'size', size is not a function on a dataframe, it is rather a property. So instead of using size(), plain size should work

Apart from that, a method like this should work

Write a file

When saving a file to internal storage, you can acquire the appropriate directory as a File by calling one of two methods:

getFilesDir()

      Returns a File representing an internal directory for your app.

getCacheDir()

     Returns a File representing an internal directory for your 
     app's temporary cache files.
     Be sure to delete each file once it is no longer needed and implement a reasonable 
     size limit for the amount of memory you use at any given time, such as 1MB.

Caution: If the system runs low on storage, it may delete your cache files without warning.

Simplest solution that worked for me that I don't see mentioned in this thread:

I have multiple versions of Python installed but was trying to use Python3.7 -- so I had to use:

Go to your HTTP bindings in IIS (select your website, then on the right click on Bindings...). Delete your SSL and your HTTP binding. Re-Add them.

I'm writing this answer w.r.t. to python 3, as I've initially got the same problem.

I was supposed to get data from arduino using PySerial, and write them in a .csv file. Each reading in my case ended with '\r\n', so newline was always separating each line.

In my case, newline='' option didn't work. Because it showed some error like :

ValueError: illegal newline value: ''

So it seemed that they don't accept omission of newline here.

Seeing one of the answers here only, I mentioned line terminator in the writer object, like,

writer = csv.writer(csv_file, delimiter=' ',lineterminator='\r')

and that worked for me for skipping the extra newlines.

I had the same problem on a newly moved website on a shared server. Solved through the web host panel (DotNetPanel) setting true the "allow write permissions". So if you are in a shared server before reviewing all code worth taking a look at the server configuration and could save you a lot of time.

There isn't much else to add other than what the docs say. If you want to dump the JSON into a file/socket or whatever, then you should go with dump(). If you only need it as a string (for printing, parsing or whatever) then use dumps() (dump string)

As mentioned by Antti Haapala in this answer, there are some minor differences on the ensure_ascii behaviour. This is mostly due to how the underlying write() function works, being that it operates on chunks rather than the whole string. Check his answer for more details on that.

For future reference, in Visual Studio you can try placing the cursor in the method name (for example, WriteLine) and press F1 to pull up help on that context. Digging around should then find you String.Format() in this case, with lots of helpful information.

Note that highlighting a selection (for example, double-clicking or doing a drag-select) and hitting F1 only does a non-context string search (which tends to suck at finding anything helpful), so make sure you just position the cursor anywhere inside the word without highlighting it.

Strictly speaking, the concept of a callback function does not exist in Java, because in Java there are no functions, only methods, and you cannot pass a method around, you can only pass objects and interfaces. So, whoever has a reference to that object or interface may invoke any of its methods, not just one method that you might wish them to.

However, this is all fine and well, and we often speak of callback objects and callback interfaces, and when there is only one method in that object or interface, we may even speak of a callback method or even a callback function; we humans tend to thrive in inaccurate communication.

The part you are interested in is the communication between two containers. The easiest way, is to refer to the DB container by name from the webserver container.

Example:

you named the db container db1 and the webserver container web0. The containers should both be on the bridge network, which means the web container should be able to connect to the DB container by referring to it's name.

So if you have a web config file for your app, then for DB host you will use the name db1.

if you are using an older version of docker, then you should use --link.

this will name the network a generic name, I can't remember off the top of my head what that name is, unless you use the --name switch.

NOTE: if you use the --name switch, you will need to use it when ever calling docker compose, so docker-compose --name setup1 down this is so you can have more then one instance of webserver and db, and in this case, so docker compose knows what instance you want to run commands against; and also so you can have more then one running at once. Great for CI/CD, if you are running test in parallel on the same server.

Docker compose also has the same commands as docker so docker-compose --name setup1 exec webserver do_some_command

best part is, if you want to change db's or something like that for unit test you can include an additional .yml file to the up command and it will overwrite any items with similar names, I think of it as a key=>value replacement.

This will overwrite the db. with a different setup. When needing to connect to these services from each container, you use the name set under service, in this case, webserver and db.

I think this might actually be a more useful setup in your case. Since you can set all the variables you need in the yml files and just run the command for docker compose when you need them started. So a more start it and forget it setup.

NOTE: I did not use the --port command, since exposing the ports is not needed for container->container communication. It is needed only if you want the host to connect to the container, or application from outside of the host. If you expose the port, then the port is open to all communication that the host allows. So exposing web on port 80 is the same as starting a webserver on the physical host and will allow outside connections, if the host allows it. Also, if you are wanting to run more then one web app at once, for whatever reason, then exposing port 80 will prevent you from running additional webapps if you try exposing on that port as well. So, for CI/CD it is best to not expose ports at all, and if using docker compose with the --name switch, all containers will be on their own network so they wont collide. So you will pretty much have a container of containers.

UPDATE: After using features further and seeing how others have done it for CICD programs like Jenkins. Network is also a viable solution.

Of course, if you have proxy network settings you should still pass those into the containers using the "-e" or "--env-file" switch statements. So the container can communicate with the internet. Docker says the proxy settings should be absorbed by the container in the newer versions of docker; however, I still pass them in as an act of habit. This is the replacement for the "--link" switch which is going away. Once the containers are attached to the network you created you can still refer to those containers from other containers using the 'name' of the container. Per the example above that would be db1. You just have to make sure all containers are connected to the same network, and you are good to go.

Which is the script that is ran in Jenkins for a huge integration tests for Moodle, but the idea/example can be used anywhere. I hope this helps others.

In Python 3 the dict.values() method returns a dictionary view object, not a list like it does in Python 2. Dictionary views have a length, can be iterated, and support membership testing, but don't support indexing.

To make your code work in both versions, you could use either of these:

{names[i]:value for i,value in enumerate(d.values())}

    or

values = list(d.values())
{name:values[i] for i,name in enumerate(names)}

By far the simplest, fastest way to do the same thing in either version would be:

dict(zip(names, d.values()))

Note however, that all of these methods will give you results that will vary depending on the actual contents of d. To overcome that, you may be able use an OrderedDict instead, which remembers the order that keys were first inserted into it, so you can count on the order of what is returned by the values() method.

Facebook provides two ways to login and logout from an account. One is to use LoginButton and the other is to use LoginManager. I ran across this problem, in a solution with a WebAPI/MVC5 web project and a Feature Test project, that both drew off of the same data access (or, 'Core') project. I, like so many others here, am using a copy downloaded via NuGet in Visual Studio 2013.

What I did, was in Visual Studio added a x86 and x64 solution folder to the Feature Test and Web Projects. I then did a Right Click | Add Existing Item..., and added the appropriate SQLite.interop.dll library from ..\SolutionFolder\packages\System.Data.SQLite.Core.1.0.94.0\build\net451\[appropriate architecture] for each of those folders. I then did a Right Click | Properties, and set Copy to Output Directory to Always Copy. The next time I needed to run my feature tests, the tests ran successfully.

If you know what element you want to retrieve, then you already have the element. The only question for a Set to answer, given an element, is whether it contains() it or not.

If you want to iterator over the elements, just use a Set.iterator().

It sounds like what you're trying to do is designate a canonical element for an equivalence class of elements. You can use a Map<MyObject,MyObject> to do this. See this SO question or this one for a discussion.

If you are really determined to find an element that .equals() your original element with the constraint that you MUST use the HashSet, I think you're stuck with iterating over it and checking equals() yourself. The API doesn't let you grab something by its hash code. So you could do:

It also backs up the contents before testing, then restores them.

How it works: It doubles the size until the limit is reached or the test fails. It then stores half the distance between low and high and subtracts/adds a half of the half each time (subtract on failure and add on success); honing into the proper value.

upperLimit is 1GB by default, and just limits how far upwards to scan exponentially before starting the binary search. I doubt this will even need to be changed, but I'm always thinking ahead. ;)

For the many people that asked me: the 2 tools produce different file formats:

• htdigest stores the password in plain text.
• htpasswd stores the password hashed (various hashing algos are available)

Despite this difference in format basic_ncsa_auth will still be able to parse a password file generated with htdigest. Hence you can alternatively use:

sudo htdigest -c /etc/squid3/passwords realm_you_like username_you_like

Beware that this approach is empirical, undocumented and may not be supported by future versions of Squid.

Was having the same case today, super easy in vim or nvim, you can use gJ to join lines. For your use case, just do

99gJ

this will join all your 99 lines. You can adjust the number 99 as need according to how many lines to join. If just join 1 line, then only gJ is good enough.

@pst gave a great answer, but I'd like to mention that in Ruby the ternary operator is written on one line to be syntactically correct, unlike Perl and C where we can write it on multiple lines:

(true) ? 1 : 0

Normally Ruby will raise an error if you attempt to split it across multiple lines, but you can use the \ line-continuation symbol at the end of a line and Ruby will be happy:

(true)   \
  ? 1    \
  : 0

This is a simple example, but it can be very useful when dealing with longer lines as it keeps the code nicely laid out.

It's also possible to use the ternary without the line-continuation characters by putting the operators last on the line, but I don't like or recommend it:

(true) ?
  1 :
  0

I think that leads to really hard to read code as the conditional test and/or results get longer.

I've read comments saying not to use the ternary operator because it's confusing, but that is a bad reason to not use something. By the same logic we shouldn't use regular expressions, range operators ('..' and the seemingly unknown "flip-flop" variation). They're powerful when used correctly, so we should learn to use them correctly.

Why have you put brackets around true?

Consider the OP's example:

Wrapping the conditional test helps make it more readable because it visually separates the test:

New Feature of Java Standard Edition (JSE 7)

1. Decorate Components with the JLayer Class:

   The JLayer class is a flexible and powerful decorator for Swing components. The JLayer class in Java SE 7 is similar in spirit to the JxLayer project project at java.net. The JLayer class was initially based on the JXLayer project, but its API evolved separately.

I'm developing a scientific calculator that sports an Int button. I've found the following is a simple, reliable solution:

Math.Round sometimes produces unexpected or undesirable results, and explicit conversion to integer (via cast or Convert.ToInt...) often produces wrong values for higher-precision numbers. The above method seems to always work.

break; is what you need to break out of any looping statement like for, while or do-while.

In your case, its going to be like this:-

I came here hoping to find a way to get the sum across all columns in a data table and run into issues implementing the above solutions. A way to add a column with the sum across all columns uses the cbind function:

cbind(data, total = rowSums(data))

This method adds a total column to the data and avoids the alignment issue yielded when trying to sum across ALL columns using the above solutions (see the post below for a discussion of this issue).

Adding a new column to matrix error

Try to nest two setTimeout functions within each other and they will behave multithreaded (ie; the outer timer won't wait for the inner one to complete before executing its function).

If you need to add multiple then you can do it like this:

You have a sequence of raw unicode that was saved into a str variable:

You need to be able to get the byte literal of that unicode (for struct.unpack(), etc.)

If all those kill process commands don't work for you, my suggestion is to check if you were using any other packages to run your node process.

I had the similar issue, and it was due to I was running my node process using PM2(a NPM package). The kill [processID] command disables the process but keeps the port occupied. Hence I had to go into PM2 and dump all node process to free up the port again.

It literally means "Not a Number." I suspect something is wrong with your conversion process.

Writing this answer for windows users. As suggested in all other answers, you can use the statements as:

But, there are some modules which don't print their version even after using the method above. So, what you can simply do is:

1. Open the command prompt.
2. Navigate to the file address/directory by using cd [file address] where you've kept your python and all supporting modules installed. If you have only one python on your system, the PYPI packages are normally visible in the directory/folder:- Python > Lib > site-packages.
3. use the command "pip install [module name]" and hit enter.

While it is possible to combine the results, I would advise against doing so.

You have two fundamentally different types of queries that return a different number of rows, a different number of columns and different types of data. It would be best to leave it as it is - two separate queries.

To do it in PHP: You have a couple of parameters to view your page, lets say action and view-all. You will (probably) access these already with $action = $_GET['action'] or whatever, maybe setting a default value.

Then you decide depending on that if you want to swich a variable like $viewAll = $viewAll == 'Yes' ? 'No' : 'Yes'.

And in the end you just build the url with these values again like

A gotcha I ran into: The following two commands are equivalent. Note the first cannot use quotes. Somewhat counterintuitively, quoting the string when using %env VAR ... will result in the quotes being included as part of the variable's value, which is probably not what you want.

I think there is an error in the trigger code. As you want to delete all rows with the deleted patron ID, you have to use old.id (Otherwise it would delete other IDs)

My two cents…

Not long ago I needed reading large files using VBA and noticed this question. I tested the three approaches to read data from a file to compare its speed and reliability for a wide range of file sizes and line lengths. The approaches are:

1. Line Input VBA statement
2. Using the File System Object (FSO)
3. Using Get VBA statement for the whole file and then parsing the string read as described in posts here

Each test case consists of three steps:

1. Test case setup that writes a text file containing given number of lines of the same given length filled by the known character pattern.
2. Integrity test. Read each file line and verify its length and contents.
3. File read speed test. Read each line of the file repeated 10 times.

As you can notice, Step #3 verifies the true file read speed (as asked in the question) while Step #2 verifies the file read integrity and therefore simulates real conditions when string parsing is needed.

The following chart shows the test results for the File read speed test. The file size is 64M bytes for all tests, and the tests differ in line length that varies from 2 bytes (not including CRLF) to 8M bytes.

CONCLUSION:

1. All the three methods are reliable for large files with normal and abnormal line lengths (please compare to Graeme Howard’s answer)
2. All the three methods produce almost equivalent file reading speed for normal line lengths
3. “Superfast way” (Method #3) works fine for extremely long lines while the other two don’t.
4. All this is applicable to different Offices, different PCs, for VBA and VB6

Regardless of whether I define this in the main CMakeLists.txt or in the individual ones, it still assumes I want all the libs and bins off the main path, which is the least useful assumption of all.

It's been a little while since I coded with selenium, but your code looks ok to me. One thing to note is that if the element is not found, but the timeout is passed, I think the code will continue to execute. So you can do something like this:

What does the above boolean return? And are you sure selenium actually navigates to the expected page? (That may sound like a silly question but are you actually watching the pages change... selenium can be run remotely you know...)

Matrix multiplication works between these 4x4 matrices of course, so to perform a rotation followed by a translation, you make the appropriate rotation matrix and multiply it by the translation matrix.

This can give you a bit more freedom to get it just right, and will also make it pretty much completely impossible for anyone to understand what it's doing, including you in five minutes.

But, you know, it works.

Edit: I just realized that I missed mentioning probably the most important and practical use of this, which is to incrementally create complex 3D transformations via JavaScript, where things will make a bit more sense.

The main point of the differences as pointed out @BizApps is that Load event happens right after the ViewState is populated while PreRender event happens later, right before Rendering phase, and after all individual children controls' action event handlers are already executing. Therefore, any modifications done by the controls' actions event handler should be updated in the control hierarchy during PreRender as it happens after.

TLDR;

• TCP - stream-oriented, requires a connection, reliable, slow
• UDP - message-oriented, connectionless, unreliable, fast

Before we start, remember that all disadvantages of something are a continuation of its advantages. There only a right tool for a job, no panacea. TCP/UDP coexist for decades, and for a reason.

TCP

It was designed to be extremely reliable and it does its job very well. It's so complex because it accomplishes a hard task: providing a reliable transport over the unreliable IP protocol.

Since all TCP's complex logic is encapsulated into the network stack, you are free from doing lots of laborious, error-prone low-level stuff in the application layer.

When you send data over TCP, you write a stream of bytes to the socket at the sender side where it gets broken into packets, passed down the stack and sent over the wire. On the receiver side packets get reassembled again into a continous stream of bytes.

Maintaining this nice abstraction has a cost in terms of complexity and performance. If the 1st packet from the byte stream is lost, the receiver will delay processing of subsequent packets even those have already arrived (the so-called "head of line blocking").

In addition, in order to be reliable, TCP implements this:

• TCP requires an established connection, which requires 3 round-trips ("infamous" 3-way handshake)
• TCP has a feature called "slow start" when it gradually ramps up the transmission rate after establishing a connection to allow a receiver to keep up with data rate
• Every sent packet has to be acknowledged or else a sender will stop sending more data
• And on and on and on...

All this is exacerbated in slow unreliable wireless networks because TCP was designed for wired networks where delays are predictable and packet loss is not so common. In addition, like many people already mentioned, for some things TCP just doesn't work at all (DHCP). However, where relevant, TCP still does its work exceptionally well.

Using a mail analogy a TCP session is similar to telling a story to your secretary who breaks it into mails and sends over a crappy mail service to a publisher. On the other side another secretary assembles mails into a single piece of text. Some mails get lost, some get corrupted, so a very complex procedure is required for reliable delivery and your 10-page story can take a long time to reach your publisher.

UDP

UDP, on the other hand, is message-oriented, so a receiver writes a message (packet) to the socket and then it gets transmitted to a receiver as-is, without any splitting/assembling in the transport layer.

Compared to TCP, its specification is very straightforward. Essentially, all it does for you is adding a checksum to the packet so a receiver can detect its corruption. Everything else must be implemented by you, a software developer. Now read the voluminous TCP spec and try thinking of re-implementing even a small subset of it.

Some people went this way and got very decent results, to the point that HTTP/3 uses QUIC - a protocol based on UDP. However, this is more of an exception. Common applications of UDP are audio/video streaming and conferencing applications like Skype, Zoom or Google Hangout where loosing packets is not so important compared to a delay introduced by TCP.

I think keySet() may be well to find the keys mapping to the value, and have a better coding style than entrySet().

Ex:

Suppose you have a HashMap map, ArrayList res, a value you want to find all the key mapping to , then store keys to the res.

You can write code below:

The MOST IMPORTANT THING I didn't understand for quite awhile is that the request MUST contain "callback=JSON_CALLBACK", because AngularJS modifies the request url, substituting a unique identifier for "JSON_CALLBACK". Git 1.8.2 features a new option ,--remote, that will enable exactly this behavior. Running

git submodule update --rebase --remote

will fetch the latest changes from upstream in each submodule, rebase them, and check out the latest revision of the submodule. As the documentation puts it:

--remote

This option is only valid for the update command. Instead of using the superproject’s recorded SHA-1 to update the submodule, use the status of the submodule’s remote-tracking branch.

Consider this code,

When this program gets compiled, the compiler may optimize this code, if it finds that the program never ever makes any attempt to change the value of some_int, so it may be tempted to optimize the while loop by changing it from while(some_int == 100) to something which is equivalent to while(true) so that the execution could be fast (since the condition in while loop appears to be true always). (if the compiler doesn't optimize it, then it has to fetch the value of some_int and compare it with 100, in each iteration which obviously is a little bit slow.)

However, sometimes, optimization (of some parts of your program) may be undesirable, because it may be that someone else is changing the value of some_int from outside the program which compiler is not aware of, since it can't see it; but it's how you've designed it. In that case, compiler's optimization would not produce the desired result!

So, to ensure the desired result, you need to somehow stop the compiler from optimizing the while loop. That is where the volatile keyword plays its role. All you need to do is this,

volatile int some_int = 100; //note the 'volatile' qualifier now!

In other words, I would explain this as follows:

volatile tells the compiler that,

"Hey compiler, I'm volatile and, you know, I can be changed by some XYZ that you're not even aware of. That XYZ could be anything. Maybe some alien outside this planet called program. Maybe some lightning, some form of interrupt, volcanoes, etc can mutate me. Maybe. You never know who is going to change me! So O you ignorant, stop playing an all-knowing god, and don't dare touch the code where I'm present. Okay?"

Well, that is how volatile prevents the compiler from optimizing code. Now search the web to see some sample examples.

Quoting from the C++ Standard ($7.1.5.1/8)

[..] volatile is a hint to the implementation to avoid aggressive optimization involving the object because the value of the object might be changed by means undetectable by an implementation.[...]

This is much simple way to do it.

Have a private int selectedPos = RecyclerView.NO_POSITION; in the RecyclerView Adapter class, and under onBindViewHolder method try:

Regular expression is the most effective way of checking for a domain validation. If you're dead set on not using a Regular Expression (which IMO is stupid), then you could split each part of a domain:

• www. / sub-domain
• domain name
• .extension

You would then have to check each character in some sort of a loop to see that it matches a valid domain.

Like I said, it's much more effective to use a regular expression.

I work with the guys that created Anaconda Python. You can install multiple versions of python and numpy without corrupting your system python. It's free and open source (OSX, linux, Windows). The paid packages are enhancements on top of the free version. Pandas is included.

Setting your PATH sets up where to find python and ipython. The environments (np17py27) can be named whatever you would like.

Spring Boot auto-configuration tries to configure beans automatically based on the dependencies added to the classpath. And because we have a JPA dependency (spring-data-starter-jpa) on our classpath, it tries to configure it.

The problem: Spring boot doesn't have the all the info needed to configure the JPA data source i.e. the JDBC connection properties. Solutions:

1. provide the JDBC connection properties (best)
2. postpone supplying connection properties by excluding some AutoConfig classes (temporary - should be removed eventually)

The above link excludes the DataSourceAutoConfiguration.class with

@SpringBootApplication(exclude={DataSourceAutoConfiguration.class})

But this didn't work for me. I instead, had to exclude 2 AutoConfig classes:

This is sort of an indirect answer, but this question got me thinking about the logic behind it, and I thought this might be worth sharing.

As everyone else has said, you use a do ... while loop when you want to execute the body at least once. But under what circumstances would you want to do that?

Well, the most obvious class of situations I can think of would be when the initial ("unprimed") value of the check condition is the same as when you want to exit. This means that you need to execute the loop body once to prime the condition to a non-exiting value, and then perform the actual repetition based on that condition. What with programmers being so lazy, someone decided to wrap this up in a control structure.

So for example, reading characters from a serial port with a timeout might take the form (in Python):

response_buffer = []
char_read = port.read(1)

while char_read:
    response_buffer.append(char_read)
    char_read = port.read(1)

# When there's nothing to read after 1s, there is no more data

response = ''.join(response_buffer)

Note the duplication of code: char_read = port.read(1). If Python had a do ... while loop, I might have used:

    response_buffer.append(char_read)
while char_read

The added benefit for languages that create a new scope for loops: char_read does not pollute the function namespace. But note also that there is a better way to do this, and that is by using Python's None value:

response_buffer = []
char_read = None

while char_read != '':
    char_read = port.read(1)
    response_buffer.append(char_read)

response = ''.join(response_buffer)

So here's the crux of my point: in languages with nullable types, the situation initial_value == exit_value arises far less frequently, and that may be why you do not encounter it. I'm not saying it never happens, because there are still times when a function will return None to signify a valid condition. But in my hurried and briefly-considered opinion, this would happen a lot more if the languages you used did not allow for a value that signifies: this variable has not been initialised yet.

This is not perfect reasoning: in reality, now that null-values are common, they simply form one more element of the set of valid values a variable can take. But practically, programmers have a way to distinguish between a variable being in sensible state, which may include the loop exit state, and it being in an uninitialised state.
