Consider having multiple matlab sessions. Keep the main session window (the pretty one with all the colours, file manager, command history, workspace, editor etc.) for running stuff that you know will terminate.
Stuff that you are experimenting with, say you are messing with ode suite and you get lots of warnings: matrix singular, because you altered some parameter and didn't predict what would happen, run in a separate session:

I was struggling with a similar problem yesterday. I already had a "working" solution using jQuery UI's draggable together with jQuery Touch Punch, which are mentioned in other answers. However, using this method was causing weird bugs in some Android devices for me, and therefore I decided to write a small jQuery plugin that can make HTML elements draggable by using touch events instead of using a method that emulates fake mouse events.
The result of this is jQuery Draggable Touch which is a simple jQuery plugin for making elements draggable, that has touch devices as it's main target by using touch events (like touchstart, touchmove, touchend, etc.). It still has a fallback that uses mouse events if the browser/device doesn't support touch events.

EDIT 2 As always, the GC does a better job than I do at managing memory; any previous attempts at doing it myself were doomed to failure.
Since SHA-1 maps several byte sequences to one, you can't "decrypt" a hash, but in theory you can find collisions: strings that have the same hash.
It seems that breaking a single hash would cost about 2.7 million dollars worth of computer time currently, so your efforts are probably better spent somewhere else.

I was having the same issue and wanted to Mavenise entire eclipse workspace containing around 60 Eclipse projects. Doing so manually required a lot of time and alternate options were not that viable. To solve the issue I finally created a project called eclipse-to-maven on github. As eclipse doesn't have all necessary information about the dependencies, it does the following:

As Eclipse projects having names with spaces are difficult to deal on Linux/Unix environment, it renames them as well with names without spaces.
Resultant pom.xml files contain the dependencies and basic pom structure. You have to add required Maven plugins manually.
If you are doing a loading screen, just set the parameter to not keep it in activity stack. In your manifest.xml, where you define your activity do:

And in your code there is no need to call .finish() anymore. Just do startActivity(i);

They work equally well. Performance is about the same given a modern compiler.
I prefer if statements over case statements because they are more readable, and more flexible -- you can add other conditions not based on numeric equality, like " || max < min ". But for the simple case you posted here, it doesn't really matter, just do what's most readable to you.

There's a solution for multi-line text with pure css. It's called line-clamp
, but it only works in webkit browsers. There is however a way to mimic this in all modern browsers (everything more recent than IE8.) Also, it will only work on solid backgrounds because you need a background-image to hide the last words of the last line. Here's how it goes:

Other than explicitly copying, another approach is to make the object immutable (no set
or other mutator methods). In this way the question never arises. Immutability becomes more difficult with larger objects, but that other side of that is that it pushes you in the direction of splitting into coherent small objects and composites.

In my case, the .gitignore

Well, the JVM memory model works something like this: values are stored on one pile of memory stack and objects are stored on another pile of memory called the heap. The garbage collector looks for garbage by looking at a list of objects you've made and seeing which ones aren't pointed at by anything. This is where setting an object to null
comes in; all nonprimitive (think of classes) variables are really references that point to the object on the stack, so by setting the reference you have to null
the garbage collector can see that there's nothing else pointing at the object and it can decide to garbage collect it. All Java objects are stored on the heap so they can be seen and collected by the garbage collector.
Nonprimitive (int
s, char
s, double
s, those sort of things) values, however, aren't stored on the heap. They're created and stored temporarily as they're needed and there's not much you can do there, but thankfully the compilers nowadays are really efficient and will avoid needed to store them on the JVM stack unless they absolutely need to.
On a bytecode level, that's basically how it works. The JVM is based on a stack-based machine, with a couple instructions to create allocate objects on the heap as well, and a ton of instructions to manipulate, push and pop values, off the stack. Local variables are stored on the stack, allocated variables on the heap.* These are the heap and the stack I'm referring to above. Here's a pretty good starting point if you want to get into the nitty gritty details.
In the resulting compiled code, there's a bit of leeway in terms of implementing the heap and stack. Allocation's implemented as allocation, there's really not a way around doing so. Thus the virtual machine heap becomes an actual heap, and allocations in the bytecode are allocations in actual memory. But you can get around using a stack to some extent, since instead of storing the values on a stack (and accessing a ton of memory), you can stored them on registers on the CPU which can be up to a hundred times (maybe even a thousand) faster than storing it on memory. But there's cases where this isn't possible (look up register spilling for one example of when this may happen), and using a stack to implement a stack kind of makes a lot of sense.
And quite frankly in your case a few integers probably won't matter. The compiler will probably optimize them out by itself in this case anyways. Optimization should always happen after you get it running and notice it's a tad slower than you'd prefer it to be. Worry about making simple, elegant, working code first then later make it fast (and hopefully) simple, elegant, working code.
Java's actually very nicely made so that you shouldn't have to worry about null
ing variables very often. Whenever you stop needing to use something, it will usually incidentally be disappearing from the scope of your program (and thus becoming eligible for garbage collection). So I guess the real lesson here is to use local variables as often as you can.
*There's also a constant pool, a local variable pool, and a couple other things in memory but you have close to no control over the size of those things and I want to keep this fairly simple.
What does it mean?
That means that each iterator you obtain from a ConcurrentHashMap
is designed to be used by a single thread and should not be passed around. This includes the syntactic sugar that the for-each loop provides.
What happens if I try to iterate the map with two threads at the same time?
It will work as expected if each of the threads uses it's own iterator.
What happens if I put or remove a value from the map while iterating it?
It is guaranteed that things will not break if you do this (that's part of what the "concurrent" in ConcurrentHashMap
means). However, there is no guarantee that one thread will see the changes to the map that the other thread performs (without obtaining a new iterator from the map). The iterator is guaranteed to reflect the state of the map at the time of it's creation. Futher changes may be reflected in the iterator, but they do not have to be.
In conclusion, a statement like
for (Object o : someConcurrentHashMap.entrySet()) {

will be fine (or at least safe) almost every time you see it.
I personally prefer to see switch statements over too many nested if-elses because they can be much easier to read. Switches are also better in readability terms for showing a state.

Sometimes something strange happens and using Visual Studio to automatically restore doesn't work. In that case you can use the NuGet Package Manager Console. That is opened within Visual Studio from Tools -> NuGet Package Manager -> Package Manager Console. The commands within the console are simple. And to get context help while typing a command just press the button and it will give you all options that start with the letters you're typing. files are empty more often than not. In particular, I never have a from blah import *
as part of __init__.py
-- if "importing the package" means getting all sort of classes, functions etc defined directly as part of the package, then I would lexically copy the contents of blah.py

The issue is how you're attempting to get the value. Things like...

won't work. You need to find the element you want to get the value of first. It's not quite like a server side language where you can type in an object's reference name and a period to get or assign values.

I was getting this same error, in our case it was caused by a load balancer. We hade to make sure that the persistance was set to Source IP. While there's no explicit binary search algorithm in Python, there is a module - bisect
- designed to find the insertion point for an element in a sorted list using a binary search. This can be "tricked" into performing a binary search. The biggest advantage of this is the same advantage most library code has - it's high-performing, well-tested and just works (binary searches in particular can be quite difficult to implement successfully - particularly if edge cases aren't carefully considered).
For basic types like Strings or ints it's pretty easy - all you need is the bisect
module and a sorted list:

Bit of a late response but I noticed that this information can be hard to find and haven't found the answer on SO, so here it is.
Try a differnt parameter #view=FitH to force it to fit in the horzontal space and also you need to start the querystring off with a # rather than an & making it:

What I've noticed it is that this will work if adobe reader is embedded in the browser but chrome will use it's own version of the reader and won't respond in the same way. In my own case, the chrome browser zoomed to fit width by default, so no problem , but Internet Explorer needed the above parameters to ensure the link always opened the pdf page with the correct view setting.

Because I wanted more than the count provided by reset_index(), I wrote a manual method for converting the image above into a dataframe. I understand this is not the most pythonic/pandas way of doing this as it is quite verbose and explicit, but it was all I needed. Basically, use the reset_index() method explained above to start a "scaffolding" dataframe, then loop through the group pairings in the grouped dataframe, retrieve the indices, perform your calculations against the ungrouped dataframe, and set the value in your new aggregated dataframe.

By looking into SQL SERVER log file in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL13.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log\ERRORLOG", it says "Login failed for user 'XXXXX'. Reason: An attempt to login using SQL authentication failed. Server is configured for Windows authentication only. [CLIENT: ]"
The fixing method is to open "Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio" -> Right click the SQL server and then select "Properties" -> Security -> Change the authentication to mixed mode. -> Restart SQL server.

This is a bit old but I ran into the requirement so here is the solution I came up with.
The Problem:
Our development team maintains many .NET web application products we are migrating to AngularJS/Bootstrap. VS2010 does not lend itself easily to custom build processes and my developers are routinely working on multiple releases of our products. Our VCS is Subversion (I know, I know. I'm trying to move to Git but my pesky marketing staff is so demanding) and a single VS solution will include several separate projects. I needed my staff to have a common method for initializing their development environment without having to install the same Node packages (gulp, bower, etc.) several times on the same machine.
TL;DR:
Need "npm install" to install the global Node/Bower development environment as well as all locally required packages for a .NET product.
Global packages should be installed only if not already installed.
Local links to global packages must be created automatically.
The Solution:
We already have a common development framework shared by all developers and all products so I created a NodeJS script to install the global packages when needed and create the local links. The script resides in "....\SharedFiles" relative to the product base folder:

Now if I want to update a global tool for our developers, I update the "packages" object and check in the new script. My developers check it out and either run it with "node npm-setup.js" or by "npm install" from any of the products under development to update the global environment. The whole thing takes 5 minutes.
In addition, to configure the environment for the a new developer, they must first only install NodeJS and GIT for Windows, reboot their computer, check out the "Shared Files" folder and any products under development, and start working.
The "package.json" for the .NET product calls this script prior to install:

Note the script reference requires forward slashes even in a Windows environment.
"npm ls" will give "npm ERR! extraneous:" messages for all packages locally linked because they are not listed in the "package.json" "dependencies".

The updated npm-setup.js
script above has been modified as follows:
Package "version" in var packages
is now the "package" value passed to npm install
on the command line. This was changed to allow for installing packages from somewhere other than the registered repository.
If the package is already installed but is not the one requested, the existing package is removed and the correct one installed.
For reasons unknown, npm will periodically throw an EBUSY error (-4082) when performing an install or link. This error is trapped and the command re-executed. The error rarely happens a second time and seems to always clear up.

In my case, I had to copy over a job from one jenkins instance to another.
So first I looked under the directory structure of the old Jenkins (the job/directory name; also noted the config.xml) and then under the directory structure of the new jenkins where I then created a directory with same name/job and copied over the config.xml under this newly created dir.
Then under, "Manage Jenkins", I hit "Reload Configuration from Disk". Thats it.

You should not add to your list using c
inside the loop, because that can result in very very slow code. Basically when you do c(l, new_element)
, the whole contents of the list are copied. Instead of that, you need to access the elements of the list by index. If you know how long your list is going to be, it's best to initialise it to this size using l <- vector("list", N)
. If you don't you can initialise it to have length equal to some large number (e.g if you have an upper bound on the number of iterations) and then just pick the non-NULL elements after the loop has finished. Anyway, the basic point is that you should have an index to keep track of the list element and add using that eg

In case none of the answers work perhaps the following clarifications will help. I followed the top answer and tried to load the program with ADB from the command line to reduce the possible complications and this did not work.
Once enabling PTP mode the ADB devices command would find my Nexus 4, but I could not push to it. I had to use Eclipse and in order for the dialog to display to accept the RSA key described below.
Note: When you connect a device running Android 4.2.2 or higher to your computer, the system shows a dialog asking whether to accept an RSA key.

The URL structure you're referring to is called the REST endpoint, as opposed to the Web Site Endpoint.
Note: Since this answer was originally written, S3 has rolled out dualstack support on REST endpoints, using new hostnames, while leaving the existing hostnames in place. This is now integrated into the information provided, below.
If your bucket is really in the us-east-1 region of AWS -- which the S3 documentation formerly referred to as the "US Standard" region, but was subsequently officially renamed to the "U.S. East (N. Virginia) Region" -- then http://s3-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/bucket/
is not the correct form for that endpoint, even though it looks like it should be. The correct format for that region is either http://s3.amazonaws.com/bucket/
or http://s3-external-1.amazonaws.com/bucket/

The format you're using is applicable to all the other S3 regions, but not US Standard US East (N. Virginia) [us-east-1].
S3 now also has dual-stack endpoint hostnames for the REST endpoints, and unlike the original endpoint hostnames, the names of these have a consistent format across regions, for example s3.dualstack.us-east-1.amazonaws.com
. These endpoints support both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity and DNS resolution, but are otherwise functionally equivalent to the existing REST endpoints.
If your permissions and configuration are set up such that the web site endpoint works, then the REST endpoint should work, too.
However... the two endpoints do not offer the same functionality.
Roughly speaking, the REST endpoint is better-suited for machine access and the web site endpoint is better suited for human access, since the web site endpoint offers friendly error messages, index documents, and redirects, while the REST endpoint doesn't. On the other hand, the REST endpoint offers HTTPS and support for signed URLs, while the web site endpoint doesn't.
Choose the correct type of endpoint (REST or web site) for your application:

There are 2 jQuery functions that you'll want to use here.

FYI: I know this is a bit late but for anyone who is interested. Depends on how RESTful you want to be, you will have to implement your own filtering strategies as the HTTP spec is not very clear on this. I'd like to suggest url-encoding all the filter parameters e.g.
GET api/users?filter=param1%3Dvalue1%26param2%3Dvalue2
I know it's ugly but I think it's the most RESTful way to do it and should be easy to parse on the server side :)
