if you didnot set your activity style it shows you black background .if you want to make changes such as white background, black text of listview then it is difficult process.

Simple solution which worked for me.

1. Install Vim editor for windows.
2. Open VS 2012 project solution using Vim editor and modify the version targetting Visual studio solution 10.

Obligatory - none of the previous answers worked for me. I inherited a strange combination of IP address-based virtual hosts and * vhosts (not assigned/catch all IP addresses) based virtual hosts in this Apache configuration messed up by ISPConfig.

I wanted Apache to serve not configured hosts with the same page.

I had: not configured hosts went to the first vhost after 000-default.conf. No matter I had *:80 catch all defined as the first vhost, instead of default Apache would load first defined site:

The error string is quite simply exactly what libcurl sees: since it is receiving a chunked encoding stream it knows when there is data left in a chunk to receive. When the connection is closed, libcurl knows that the last received chunk was incomplete. Then you get this error code.

Summarizing other answers

Looking through the answers, we have seen a lot of back and forth, whether or not list comprehension or filter may be faster or if it is even important or pythonic to care about such an issue. In the end, the answer is as most times: it depends.

I just stumbled across this question while optimizing code where this exact question (albeit combined with an in expression, not ==) is very relevant - the filter + lambda expression is taking up a third of my computation time (of multiple minutes).

My case

In my case, the list comprehension is much faster (twice the speed). But I suspect that this varies strongly based on the filter expression as well as the Python interpreter used.

Test it for yourself

Here is a simple code snippet that should be easy to adapt. If you profile it (most IDEs can do that easily), you will be able to easily decide for your specific case which is the better option:

Your "other thing" is a closure, and the value is status != null, neither of which would seem to be what you want. If status is null, Elvis says true. If it's not, you get an extra layer of closure.

I've developed a tool called Doxygraph which can parse the XML generated by Doxygen and turn it into an interactive UML class diagram which you can view in a web browser or import into any software that can read Graphviz "dot" files.

Google Chrome still renders a gradient on top of the background image in the color that you pass to rgba(r,g,b,0.1) but choosing a color that compliments your image and making the alpha 0.1 reduces the effect of this.

This why you need ref if you want changes to exist outside of the scope of the function making them, you aren't passing a reference otherwise.

#include <file.h> tells the compiler to search for the header in its "includes" directory, e.g. for MinGW the compiler would search for file.h in C:\MinGW\include\ or wherever your compiler is installed.

#include "file" tells the compiler to search the current directory (i.e. the directory in which the source file resides) for file.

You can use the -I flag for GCC to tell it that, when it encounters an include with angled brackets, it should also search for headers in the directory after -I. GCC will treat the directory after the flag as if it were the includes directory.

For instance, if you have a file called myheader.h in your own directory, you could say #include <myheader.h> if you called GCC with the flag -I . (indicating that it should search for includes in the current directory.)

Without the -I flag, you will have to use #include "myheader.h" to include the file, or move myheader.h to the include directory of your compiler.

You should use PATCH for partial updates - either using json-patch documents (see http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-appsawg-json-patch-08 or http://www.mnot.net/blog/2012/09/05/patch) or the XML patch framework (see http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5261). In my opinion though, json-patch is the best fit for your kind of business data.

PATCH with JSON/XML patch documents has very strait forward semantics for partial updates. If you start using POST, with modified copies of the original document, for partial updates you soon run into problems where you want missing values (or, rather, null values) to represent either "ignore this property" or "set this property to the empty value" - and that leads down a rabbit hole of hacked solutions that in the end will result in your own kind of patch format.

all the changes from the branch you’re trying to merge have already been merged to the branch you’re currently on.
More specifically it means that the branch you’re trying to merge is a parent of your current branch

if you're ahead of the remote repo by one commit, it's the remote repo that's out of date, not you.

But in your case, if git pull works, that just means you are not on the right branch.

It's fast. The bigger the data, the better.

The answer is in the error message. In the past you or a process did a sudo pip and that caused some of the directories under /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/... to have permissions that make it unaccessable to your current user.

Then you did a pip install whatever which relies on the other thing.

So to fix it, visit the /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/... and find the directory with the root or not-your-user permissions and either remove then reinstall those packages, or just force ownership to the user to whom ought to have access.

An Objective-C delegate is an object that has been assigned to the delegate property another object. To create one, you define a class that implements the delegate methods you're interested in, and mark that class as implementing the delegate protocol.

For example, suppose you have a UIWebView. If you'd like to implement its delegate's webViewDidStartLoad: method, you could create a class like this:

Making Delegates for Your Classes

To define your own delegates, you'll have to declare their methods somewhere, as discussed in the Apple Docs on protocols. You usually declare a formal protocol. The declaration, paraphrased from UIWebView.h, would look like this:

Naming

Delegate methods are typically named starting with the delegating class name, and take the delegating object as the first parameter. They also often use a will-, should-, or did- form. So, webViewDidStartLoad: (first parameter is the web view) rather than loadStarted (taking no parameters) for example.

Speed Optimizations

Instead of checking whether a delegate responds to a selector every time we want to message it, you can cache that information when delegates are set. One very clean way to do this is to use a bitfield, as follows:

Then, in the body, we can check that our delegate handles messages by accessing our delegateRespondsTo struct, rather than by sending -respondsToSelector: over and over again.

Informal Delegates

Before protocols existed, it was common to use a category on NSObject to declare the methods a delegate could implement. For example, CALayer still does this:

This tells the compiler that any object might implement displayLayer:.

You would then use the same -respondsToSelector: approach as described above to call this method. Delegates implement this method and assign the delegate property, and that's it (there's no declaring you conform to a protocol). This method is common in Apple's libraries, but new code should use the more modern protocol approach above, since this approach pollutes NSObject (which makes autocomplete less useful) and makes it hard for the compiler to warn you about typos and similar errors.

Setting the underlying socket ReceiveTimeout property did the trick. You can access it like this: yourTcpClient.Client.ReceiveTimeout. You can read the docs for more information.

Now the code will only "sleep" as long as needed for some data to arrive in the socket, or it will raise an exception if no data arrives, at the beginning of a read operation, for more than 20ms. I can tweak this timeout if needed. Now I'm not paying the 20ms price in every iteration, I'm only paying it at the last read operation. Since I have the content-length of the message in the first bytes read from the server I can use it to tweak it even more and not try to read if all expected data has been already received.

I find using ReceiveTimeout much easier than implementing asynchronous read... Here is the working code:

After creating your QVBoxLayout in Qt Designer, right-click on the background of your widget/dialog/window (not the QVBoxLayout, but the parent widget) and select Lay Out -> Lay Out in a Grid from the bottom of the context-menu. Mockito matchers are static methods and calls to those methods, which stand in for arguments during calls to when and verify.

Hamcrest matchers (archived version) (or Hamcrest-style matchers) are stateless, general-purpose object instances that implement Matcher<T> and expose a method matches(T) that returns true if the object matches the Matcher's criteria. They are intended to be free of side effects, and are generally used in assertions such as the one below.

Mockito matchers exist, separate from Hamcrest-style matchers, so that descriptions of matching expressions fit directly into method invocations: Mockito matchers return T where Hamcrest matcher methods return Matcher objects (of type Matcher<T>).

Mockito matchers are invoked through static methods such as eq, any, gt, and startsWith on org.mockito.Matchers and org.mockito.AdditionalMatchers. There are also adapters, which have changed across Mockito versions:

• For Mockito 1.x, Matchers featured some calls (such as intThat or argThat) are Mockito matchers that directly accept Hamcrest matchers as parameters. ArgumentMatcher<T> extended org.hamcrest.Matcher<T>, which was used in the internal Hamcrest representation and was a Hamcrest matcher base class instead of any sort of Mockito matcher.
• For Mockito 2.0+, Mockito no longer has a direct dependency on Hamcrest. Matchers calls phrased as intThat or argThat wrap ArgumentMatcher<T> objects that no longer implement org.hamcrest.Matcher<T> but are used in similar ways. Hamcrest adapters such as argThat and intThat are still available, but have moved to MockitoHamcrest instead.

Regardless of whether the matchers are Hamcrest or simply Hamcrest-style, they can be adapted like so:

In the above statement: foo.setPowerLevel is a method that accepts an int. is(greaterThan(9000)) returns a Matcher<Integer>, which wouldn't work as a setPowerLevel argument. The Mockito matcher intThat wraps that Hamcrest-style Matcher and returns an int so it can appear as an argument; Mockito matchers like gt(9000) would wrap that entire expression into a single call, as in the first line of example code.

What matchers do/return

When not using argument matchers, Mockito records your argument values and compares them with their equals methods.

When you call a matcher like any or gt (greater than), Mockito stores a matcher object that causes Mockito to skip that equality check and apply your match of choice. In the case of argumentCaptor.capture() it stores a matcher that saves its argument instead for later inspection.

Matchers return dummy values such as zero, empty collections, or null. Mockito tries to return a safe, appropriate dummy value, like 0 for anyInt() or any(Integer.class) or an empty List<String> for anyListOf(String.class). Because of type erasure, though, Mockito lacks type information to return any value but null for any() or argThat(...), which can cause a NullPointerException if trying to "auto-unbox" a null primitive value.

Matchers like eq and gt take parameter values; ideally, these values should be computed before the stubbing/verification starts. Calling a mock in the middle of mocking another call can interfere with stubbing.

Matcher methods can't be used as return values; there is no way to phrase thenReturn(anyInt()) or thenReturn(any(Foo.class)) in Mockito, for instance. Mockito needs to know exactly which instance to return in stubbing calls, and will not choose an arbitrary return value for you.

Implementation details

Matchers are stored (as Hamcrest-style object matchers) in a stack contained in a class called ArgumentMatcherStorage. MockitoCore and Matchers each own a ThreadSafeMockingProgress instance, which statically contains a ThreadLocal holding MockingProgress instances. It's this MockingProgressImpl that holds a concrete ArgumentMatcherStorageImpl. Consequently, mock and matcher state is static but thread-scoped consistently between the Mockito and Matchers classes.

Most matcher calls only add to this stack, with an exception for matchers like and, or, and not. This perfectly corresponds to (and relies on) the evaluation order of Java, which evaluates arguments left-to-right before invoking a method:

This will:

1. Add anyInt() to the stack.
2. Add gt(10) to the stack.
3. Add lt(20) to the stack.
4. Remove gt(10) and lt(20) and add and(gt(10), lt(20)).
5. Call foo.quux(0, 0), which (unless otherwise stubbed) returns the default value false. Internally Mockito marks quux(int, int) as the most recent call.
6. Call when(false), which discards its argument and prepares to stub method quux(int, int) identified in 5. The only two valid states are with stack length 0 (equality) or 2 (matchers), and there are two matchers on the stack (steps 1 and 4), so Mockito stubs the method with an any() matcher for its first argument and and(gt(10), lt(20)) for its second argument and clears the stack.

This demonstrates a few rules:

• Mockito can't tell the difference between quux(anyInt(), 0) and quux(0, anyInt()). They both look like a call to quux(0, 0) with one int matcher on the stack. Consequently, if you use one matcher, you have to match all arguments.

• Call order isn't just important, it's what makes this all work. Extracting matchers to variables generally doesn't work, because it usually changes the call order. Extracting matchers to methods, however, works great.

• The stack changes often enough that Mockito can't police it very carefully. It can only check the stack when you interact with Mockito or a mock, and has to accept matchers without knowing whether they're used immediately or abandoned accidentally. In theory, the stack should always be empty outside of a call to when or verify, but Mockito can't check that automatically. You can check manually with Mockito.validateMockitoUsage().

• In a call to when, Mockito actually calls the method in question, which will throw an exception if you've stubbed the method to throw an exception (or require non-zero or non-null values). doReturn and doAnswer (etc) do not invoke the actual method and are often a useful alternative.

• If you had called a mock method in the middle of stubbing (e.g. to calculate an answer for an eq matcher), Mockito would check the stack length against that call instead, and likely fail.

• If you try to do something bad, like stubbing/verifying a final method, Mockito will call the real method and also leave extra matchers on the stack. The final method call may not throw an exception, but you may get an InvalidUseOfMatchersException from the stray matchers when you next interact with a mock.

Common problems

• InvalidUseOfMatchersException:

  • Check that every single argument has exactly one matcher call, if you use matchers at all, and that you haven't used a matcher outside of a when or verify call. Matchers should never be used as stubbed return values or fields/variables.

  • Check that you're not calling a mock as a part of providing a matcher argument.

  • Check that you're not trying to stub/verify a final method with a matcher. It's a great way to leave a matcher on the stack, and unless your final method throws an exception, this might be the only time you realize the method you're mocking is final.

• NullPointerException with primitive arguments: (Integer) any() returns null while any(Integer.class) returns 0; this can cause a NullPointerException if you're expecting an int instead of an Integer. In any case, prefer anyInt(), which will return zero and also skip the auto-boxing step.

• NullPointerException or other exceptions: Calls to when(foo.bar(any())).thenReturn(baz) will actually call foo.bar(null), which you might have stubbed to throw an exception when receiving a null argument. Switching to doReturn(baz).when(foo).bar(any()) skips the stubbed behavior.

General troubleshooting

• Use MockitoJUnitRunner, or explicitly call validateMockitoUsage in your tearDown or @After method (which the runner would do for you automatically). This will help determine whether you've misused matchers.

• For debugging purposes, add calls to validateMockitoUsage in your code directly. This will throw if you have anything on the stack, which is a good warning of a bad symptom.

(Assuming C, C++, Java, JavaScript)

| and & are bitwise operators while || and && are logical operators. Usually you'd want to use || and && for if statements and loops and such (i.e. for your examples above). The bitwise operators are for setting and checking bits within bitmasks.

You get this error when you wrongly add shared service to "declaration" in your appmodules instead of adding it to "provider".

Deny takes precedence over Allow. Local rules take precedence over inherited rules. I have seen many solutions (including some answers shown here), but none of them takes into account whether rules are inherited or not. Therefore I suggest the following approach that considers rule inheritance (neatly wrapped into a class):

However, I made the experience that this does not always work on remote computers as you will not always have the right to query the file access rights there. The solution in that case is to try; possibly even by just trying to create a temporary file, if you need to know the access right before working with the "real" files.

There is no implicit conversion between floating-point types and the decimal type, so division between them is not allowed. You have to explicitly cast and decide which one you want (Decimal has more precision and a smaller range compared to floating-point types).

Spring MockMvc now has direct support for JSON. So you just say:

I was having a similar problem, however my program would crash when I tried to set the text. I was attempting to set the text value from within a class that extends AsyncTask, and that was what was causing the problem.

I've got a similar error when installing FCL that needs CCD lib(libccd) like this:

I find that there is two different files named "libccd.a" :

1. /usr/local/lib/libccd.a
2. /usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libccd.a

I solved the problem by removing the first file.

Another useful property of the cross product is that its magnitude is related to the sine of the angle between the two vectors:

So, in implementation 1 above, if a and b are known in advance to be unit vectors then the result of that function is exactly that sine() value.

Many of these projects mentioned above are dead or dying, lacking activity and interest from author side. Interesting to follow how this area develops.

For the record, in era of plugin based implementations, KDE camp had an attempt to solve this with plugin and non-language specific way and created the Kross https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kross_(software) - in my understanding it never took off even inside the community itself.

When calling just git tag <TAGNAME> without any additional parameters, Git will create a new tag from your current HEAD (i.e. the HEAD of your current branch). When adding additional commits into this branch, the branch HEAD will keep up with those new commits, while the tag always refers to the same commit.

This depends on the language being used. You wrote 'language-agnostic', so I'll give some examples.

In Java, C, and Python, recursion is fairly expensive compared to iteration (in general) because it requires the allocation of a new stack frame. In some C compilers, one can use a compiler flag to eliminate this overhead, which transforms certain types of recursion (actually, certain types of tail calls) into jumps instead of function calls.

In functional programming language implementations, sometimes, iteration can be very expensive and recursion can be very cheap. In many, recursion is transformed into a simple jump, but changing the loop variable (which is mutable) sometimes requires some relatively heavy operations, especially on implementations which support multiple threads of execution. Mutation is expensive in some of these environments because of the interaction between the mutator and the garbage collector, if both might be running at the same time.

I know that in some Scheme implementations, recursion will generally be faster than looping.

In short, the answer depends on the code and the implementation. Use whatever style you prefer. If you're using a functional language, recursion might be faster. If you're using an imperative language, iteration is probably faster. In some environments, both methods will result in the same assembly being generated (put that in your pipe and smoke it).

Addendum: In some environments, the best alternative is neither recursion nor iteration but instead higher order functions. These include "map", "filter", and "reduce" (which is also called "fold"). Not only are these the preferred style, not only are they often cleaner, but in some environments these functions are the first (or only) to get a boost from automatic parallelization — so they can be significantly faster than either iteration or recursion. Data Parallel Haskell is an example of such an environment.

I think your particular problem isn't how to use Glyphicons but understanding how Bootstrap files work together.

Bootstrap requires a specific file structure to work. I see from your code you have this:

Your Bootstrap.css is being loaded from the same location as your page, this would create a problem if you didn't adjust your file structure.

But first, let me recommend you setup your folder structure like so:

If you notice, this is also how Bootstrap structures its files in its download ZIP.

You then include your Bootstrap file like so:

The first and second are relative to your file's current directory. The second one is just more explicit by saying "here" (./) first then css folder (/css).

The third is good if you're running a web server, and you can just use relative to root notation as the leading "/" will be always start at the root folder.

So, why do this?

Bootstrap.css has this specific line for Glyphfonts:

What you can see is that that Glyphfonts are loaded by going up one directory ../ and then looking for a folder called /fonts and THEN loading the font file.

The URL address is relative to the location of the CSS file. So, if your CSS file is at the same location like this:

/fonts
Bootstrap.css
index.html

The CSS file is going one level deeper than looking for a /fonts folder.

So, let's say the actual location of these files are:

C:\www\fonts
C:\www\Boostrap.css
C:\www\index.html

The CSS file would technically be looking for a folder at:

C:\fonts

but your folder is actually in:

C:\www\fonts

So see if that helps. You don't have to do anything 'special' to load Bootstrap Glyphicons, except make sure your folder structure is set up appropriately.

When you get that fixed, your HTML should simply be:

Note, you need both classes. The first class glyphicon sets up the basic styles while glyphicon-comment sets the specific image.

You (still) can not choose the position of the column using ALTER TABLE: it can only be added to the end of the table. You can obviously select the columns in any order you want, so unless you are using SELECT * FROM column order shouldn't be a big deal.

If you really must have them in a particular order and you can't drop and recreate the table, then you might be able to drop and recreate columns instead:-

First copy the table

CREATE TABLE my_tab_temp AS SELECT * FROM my_tab;

Then drop columns that you want to be after the column you will insert

ALTER TABLE my_tab DROP COLUMN three;

Now add the new column (two in this example) and the ones you removed.

Lastly add back the data for the re-created columns

UPDATE my_tab SET my_tab.three = (SELECT my_tab_temp.three FROM my_tab_temp WHERE my_tab.one = my_tab_temp.one);

Obviously your update will most likely be more complex and you'll have to handle indexes and constraints and won't be able to use this in some cases (LOB columns etc). Plus this is a pretty hideous way to do this - but the table will always exist and you'll end up with the columns in a order you want. But does column order really matter that much?

Adding context to hopefully help provide a bit of additional clarity on this subject. To a BaSH newbie, it's sense of true/false statements is rather odd. Take the following simple examples and their results.

This statement will return "true":

foo=" "; if [ "$foo" ]; then echo "true"; else echo "false"; fi

But this will return "false":

foo=" "; if [ $foo ]; then echo "true"; else echo "false"; fi

Do you see why? The first example has a quoted "" string. This causes BaSH to treat it literally. So, in a literal sense, a space is not null. While in a non-literal sense (the 2nd example above), a space is viewed by BaSH (as a value in $foo) as 'nothing' and therefore it equates to null (interpreted here as 'false').

These statements will all return a text string of "false":

Likewise, defining it as an undeclared variable ensures it will always return false:

Making matters more confusing, these variations on the IF/THEN conditional both work, but return opposite results.

However, these will return a result of true:

The parameters are a little confusing so here is a little extra explanation.

beforeTextChanged

beforeTextChanged(CharSequence charSequence, int start, int count, int after)

• charSequence: This is the text content before the pending change is made. You should not try to change it.
• start: This is the index of where the new text will be inserted. If a range is selected, then it is the beginning index of the range.
• count: This is the length of selected text that is going to be replaced. If nothing is selected then count will be 0.
• after: this is the length of the text to be inserted.

onTextChanged

onTextChanged(CharSequence charSequence, int start, int before, int count)

• charSequence: This is the text content after the change was made. You should not try to modify this value here. Modify the editable in afterTextChanged if you need to.
• start: This is the index of the start of where the new text was inserted.
• before: This is the old value. It is the length of previously selected text that was replaced. This is the same value as count in beforeTextChanged.
• count: This is the length of text that was inserted. This is the same value as after in beforeTextChanged.

afterTextChanged

afterTextChanged(Editable editable)

Like onTextChanged, this is called after the change has already been made. However, now the text may be modified.

• editable: This is the editable text of the EditText. If you change it, though, you have to be careful not to get into an infinite loop. See the documentation for more details.

But don't use it before understanding the following advantages, disadvantages, and limitations:

• If the calling-code is to handle the checked exception you MUST add it to the throws clause of the method that contains the stream. The compiler will not force you to add it anymore, so it's easier to forget it.

• If the calling-code already handles the checked exception, the compiler WILL remind you to add the throws clause to the method declaration that contains the stream (if you don't it will say: Exception is never thrown in body of corresponding try statement).

• In any case, you won't be able to surround the stream itself to catch the checked exception INSIDE the method that contains the stream (if you try, the compiler will say: Exception is never thrown in body of corresponding try statement).

• If you are calling a method which literally can never throw the exception that it declares, then you should not include the throws clause. For example: new String(byteArr, "UTF-8") throws UnsupportedEncodingException, but UTF-8 is guaranteed by the Java spec to always be present. Here, the throws declaration is a nuisance and any solution to silence it with minimal boilerplate is welcome.

• If you hate checked exceptions and feel they should never be added to the Java language to begin with (a growing number of people think this way, and I am NOT one of them), then just don't add the checked exception to the throws clause of the method that contains the stream. The checked exception will, then, behave just like an UNchecked exception.

• If you are implementing a strict interface where you don't have the option for adding a throws declaration, and yet throwing an exception is entirely appropriate, then wrapping an exception just to gain the privilege of throwing it results in a stacktrace with spurious exceptions which contribute no information about what actually went wrong. A good example is Runnable.run(), which does not throw any checked exceptions. In this case, you may decide not to add the checked exception to the throws clause of the method that contains the stream.

• In any case, if you decide NOT to add (or forget to add) the checked exception to the throws clause of the method that contains the stream, be aware of these 2 consequences of throwing CHECKED exceptions:

1) The calling-code won't be able to catch it by name (if you try, the compiler will say: Exception is never thrown in body of corresponding try statement). It will bubble and probably be catched in the main program loop by some "catch Exception" or "catch Throwable", which may be what you want anyway.

2) It violates the principle of least surprise: it will no longer be enough to catch RuntimeException to be able to guarantee catching all possible exceptions. For this reason, I believe this should not be done in framework code, but only in business code that you completely control.

In conclusion: I believe the limitations here are not serious, and the UtilException class may be used without fear. However, it's up to you!

Server.MapPath specifies the relative or virtual path to map to a physical directory.

Do however note that eval is a dangerous function, therefore use it only if you really, really need to find out if a number is negative.

you have to rename the column to an other name because TABLE is reserved by Oracle.

You can see all reserved words of Oracle in the oracle view V$RESERVED_WORDS.

You can run the MySQL command SHOW FULL PROCESSLIST; to see what queries are being processed at any given time, but that probably won't achieve what you're hoping for.

The best method to get a history without having to modify every application using the server is probably through triggers. You could set up triggers so that every query run results in the query being inserted into some sort of history table, and then create a separate page to access this information.

Do be aware that this will probably considerably slow down everything on the server though, with adding an extra INSERT on top of every single query.

Edit: another alternative is the General Query Log, but having it written to a flat file would remove a lot of possibilities for flexibility of displaying, especially in real-time. If you just want a simple, easy-to-implement way to see what's going on though, enabling the GQL and then using running tail -f on the logfile would do the trick.

Sometimes you also want to insert Hardcoded details else there may be Unique constraint fail etc. So use following in such situation where you override some values of the columns.

cgi.escape is fine. It escapes:

• < to <
• > to >
• & to &

That is enough for all HTML.

EDIT: If you have non-ascii chars you also want to escape, for inclusion in another encoded document that uses a different encoding, like Craig says, just use:

data.encode('ascii', 'xmlcharrefreplace')

Don't forget to decode data to unicode first, using whatever encoding it was encoded.

However in my experience that kind of encoding is useless if you just work with unicode all the time from start. Just encode at the end to the encoding specified in the document header (utf-8 for maximum compatibility).

That program would need to have a specific API that you can use from the command line.

Alternatively, you can also use ActionBarSherlock (see edit) so you can have the ActionBar on all versions. You will have to do some changes such as making your Activities extend SherlockActivity and calling getSupportActionBar(), however, it is a very good global solution.

Nowadays, Google's appcompat-v7 library provides the same functionality but is supported (and actively updated) by Google. Activities wanting to implement an ActionBar must:

• extend AppCompatActivity
• use a Theme.AppCompat derivative

To get an ActionBar instance using this library, the aptly-named getSupportActionBar() method is used.

I found this question because I have a use-case where I wanted to turn off the :hover state for elements individually. Since there is no way to do this in the DOM, another good way to do it is to define a class in CSS that overrides the hover state.

For instance, the css:

Since the callback request is issued by the browser, as a HTTP redirect response, you can set up your .hosts file or equivalent to point a domain that is not localhost to 127.0.0.1.

Say for example you register the following callback with Twitter: http://www.publicdomain.com/callback/. Make sure that www.publicdomain.com points to 127.0.0.1 in your hosts file, AND that twitter can do a successful DNS lookup on www.publicdomain.com, i.e the domain needs to exist and the specific callback should probably return a 200 status message if requested.

Note that this does not guarantee that the amount of time the thread sleeps will be anywhere close to the sleep period, it only guarantees that the amount of time before the thread continues execution will be at least the desired amount. You can't do this reliably with the keyup event. If you want to know something about the character that was typed, you have to use the keypress event instead.

There's also a little trap you might fall into, if your SP is a function, your return value parameter must be first in the parameters collection

Without a bit of information about what files are in your repository (pure source code, images, executables, ...), it's a bit hard to answer the question :)

Beside this, I'll consider that you're willing to default to LF as line endings in your working directory because you're willing to make sure that text files have LF line endings in your .git repository wether you work on Windows or Linux. Indeed better safe than sorry....

However, there's a better alternative: Benefit from LF line endings in your Linux workdir, CRLF line endings in your Windows workdir AND LF line endings in your repository.

As you're partially working on Linux and Windows, make sure core.eol is set to native and core.autocrlf is set to true.

Then, replace the content of your .gitattributes file with the following

* text=auto

This will let Git handle the automagic line endings conversion for you, on commits and checkouts. Binary files won't be altered, files detected as being text files will see the line endings converted on the fly.

However, as you know the content of your repository, you may give Git a hand and help him detect text files from binary files.

Provided you work on a C based image processing project, replace the content of your .gitattributes file with the following

This will make sure files which extension is c, h, or txt will be stored with LF line endings in your repo and will have native line endings in the working directory. Jpeg files won't be touched. All of the others will be benefit from the same automagic filtering as seen above.

Makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. In this specific context, the .gitattributes file by itself won't be enough.

Run the following commands against your repository

$ git config core.eol lf
$ git config core.autocrlf input

As your repository is shared between your Linux and Windows environment, this will update the local config file for both environment. core.eol will make sure text files bear LF line endings on checkouts. core.autocrlf will ensure potential CRLF in text files (resulting from a copy/paste operation for instance) will be converted to LF in your repository.

Optionally, you can help Git distinguish what is a text file by creating a .gitattributes file containing something similar to the following:
