Convert file path to a file URI?

VB.NET:

Dim URI As New Uri("D:\Development\~AppFolder\Att\1.gif")

Different outputs:

URI.AbsolutePath   ->  D:/Development/~AppFolder/Att/1.gif
URI.AbsoluteUri    ->  file:///D:/Development/~AppFolder/Att/1.gif
URI.OriginalString ->  D:\Development\~AppFolder\Att\1.gif
URI.ToString       ->  file:///D:/Development/~AppFolder/Att/1.gif
URI.LocalPath      ->  D:\Development\~AppFolder\Att\1.gif

One liner:

New Uri("D:\Development\~AppFolder\Att\1.gif").AbsoluteUri

Output: file:///D:/Development/~AppFolder/Att/1.gif

How to access cookies in AngularJS?

AngularJS provides ngCookies module and $cookieStore service to use Browser Cookies.

We need to add angular-cookies.min.js file to use cookie feature.

Here is some method of AngularJS Cookie.

  • get(key); // This method returns the value of given cookie key.

  • getObject(key); //This method returns the deserialized value of given cookie key.

  • getAll(); //This method returns a key value object with all the cookies.

  • put(key, value, [options]); //This method sets a value for given cookie key.

  • remove(key, [options]); //This method remove given cookie.

Example

Html

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html ng-app="myApp">
<head>
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.3.0-beta.1/angular.min.js"></script>
<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.3.0-beta.1/angular-cookies.min.js"></script>
</head>
<body ng-controller="MyController">
{{cookiesUserName}} loves {{cookietechnology}}.
</body>
</html>

JavaScript

var myApp = angular.module('myApp', ['ngCookies']);
myApp.controller('MyController', ['$scope', '$cookies', '$cookieStore', '$window', function($scope, $cookies, $cookieStore, $window) {
$cookies.userName = 'Max Joe';
$scope.cookiesUserName = $cookies.userName;
$cookieStore.put('technology', 'Web');
$scope.cookietechnology = $cookieStore.get('technology'); }]);

I have Taken reference from http://www.tutsway.com/simple-example-of-cookie-in-angular-js.php.

close fxml window by code, javafx

If you have a window which extends javafx.application.Application; you can use the following method. (This will close the whole application, not just the window. I misinterpreted the OP, thanks to the commenters for pointing it out).

Platform.exit();

Example:

public class MainGUI extends Application {
.........

Button exitButton = new Button("Exit");
exitButton.setOnAction(new ExitButtonListener());
.........

public class ExitButtonListener implements EventHandler<ActionEvent> {

  @Override
  public void handle(ActionEvent arg0) {
    Platform.exit();
  }
}

Edit for the beauty of Java 8:

 public class MainGUI extends Application {
    .........

    Button exitButton = new Button("Exit");
    exitButton.setOnAction(actionEvent -> Platform.exit());
 }

nvm keeps "forgetting" node in new terminal session

I'm using ZSH so I had to modify ~/.zshrc with the lines concerning NVM in that order:

[ -s "$NVM_DIR/nvm.sh" ] && . "$NVM_DIR/nvm.sh" # This loads nvm
source ~/.nvm/nvm.sh

Best practice to return errors in ASP.NET Web API

For those errors where modelstate.isvalid is false, I generally send the error as it is thrown by the code. Its easy to understand for the developer who is consuming my service. I generally send the result using below code.

     if(!ModelState.IsValid) {
                List<string> errorlist=new List<string>();
                foreach (var value in ModelState.Values)
                {
                    foreach(var error in value.Errors)
                    errorlist.Add( error.Exception.ToString());
                    //errorlist.Add(value.Errors);
                }
                HttpResponseMessage response = Request.CreateResponse(HttpStatusCode.BadRequest,errorlist);}

This sends the error to the client in below format which is basically a list of errors:

    [
    "Newtonsoft.Json.JsonReaderException: **Could not convert string to integer: abc. Path 'Country',** line 6, position 16.\r\n

Deleting a pointer in C++

There is a rule in C++, for every new there is a delete.

  1. Why won't the first case work? Seems the most straightforward use to use and delete a pointer? The error says the memory wasn't allocated but 'cout' returned an address.

new is never called. So the address that cout prints is the address of the memory location of myVar, or the value assigned to myPointer in this case. By writing:

myPointer = &myVar;

you say:

myPointer = The address of where the data in myVar is stored

  1. On the second example the error is not being triggered but doing a cout of the value of myPointer still returns a memory address?

It returns an address that points to a memory location that has been deleted. Because first you create the pointer and assign its value to myPointer, second you delete it, third you print it. So unless you assign another value to myPointer, the deleted address will remain.

  1. Does #3 really work? Seems to work to me, the pointer is no longer storing an address, is this the proper way to delete a pointer?

NULL equals 0, you delete 0, so you delete nothing. And it's logic that it prints 0 because you did:

myPointer = NULL;

which equals:

myPointer = 0;

C# how to convert File.ReadLines into string array?

File.ReadLines() returns an object of type System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<String>
File.ReadAllLines() returns an array of strings.

If you want to use an array of strings you need to call the correct function.

You could use Jim solution, just use ReadAllLines() or you could change your return type.

This would also work:

System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable<String> lines = File.ReadLines("c:\\file.txt");

You can use any generic collection which implements IEnumerable. IList for an example.

Python: 'break' outside loop

This is an old question, but if you wanted to break out of an if statement, you could do:

while 1:
    if blah:
        break

How to change line-ending settings

The normal way to control this is with git config

For example

git config --global core.autocrlf true

For details, scroll down in this link to Pro Git to the section named "core.autocrlf"

If you want to know what file this is saved in, you can run the command:

git config --global --edit

and the git global config file should open in a text editor, and you can see where that file was loaded from.

How to find the Vagrant IP?

I've developed a small vagrant-address plugin for that. It's simple, cross-platform, cross-provider, and does not require scripting.

Access Database opens as read only

While the OP is the original author of the database, and likely created a simple data model, I had experienced a similar behavior on a more complicated system. In my scenario the main .mdb file was on a network share location with read/write access by the user. The .mdb file referenced tables in another .mdb file in a different network location - where the user did not have proper access.

For others viewing this post to solve similar problems, verify the linked tables path and access.

To verify linked tables...(assuming Access 2010)

  1. Open database
  2. Click ribbon toolbar tab 'External Data'
  3. Click ribbon toolbar button 'Linked Table Manager'
  4. Identify paths to linked tables
  5. Verify proper security clearance to paths identified in linked table manager - if accessing ODBC (i.e., Oracle, DB2, MySql, PostGRES, etc.) sources, verify database credentials and drivers

How should I deal with "package 'xxx' is not available (for R version x.y.z)" warning?

1. You can't spell

The first thing to test is have you spelled the name of the package correctly? Package names are case sensitive in R.

2. You didn't look in the right repository

Next, you should check to see if the package is available. Type

setRepositories()

See also ?setRepositories.

To see which repositories R will look in for your package, and optionally select some additional ones. At the very least, you will usually want CRAN to be selected, and CRAN (extras) if you use Windows, and the Bioc* repositories if you do any [gen/prote/metabol/transcript]omics biological analyses.

To permanently change this, add a line like setRepositories(ind = c(1:6, 8)) to your Rprofile.site file.

3. The package is not in the repositories you selected

Return all the available packages using

ap <- available.packages()

See also Names of R's available packages, ?available.packages.

Since this is a large matrix, you may wish to use the data viewer to examine it. Alternatively, you can quickly check to see if the package is available by testing against the row names.

View(ap)
"foobarbaz" %in% rownames(ap)

Alternatively, the list of available packages can be seen in a browser for CRAN, CRAN (extras), Bioconductor, R-forge, RForge, and github.

Another possible warnings message you may get when interacting with CRAN mirrors is:

Warning: unable to access index for repository

Which may indicate the selected CRAN repository is currently be unavailable. You can select a different mirror with chooseCRANmirror() and try the installation again.

There are several reasons why a package may not be available.

4. You don't want a package

Perhaps you don't really want a package. It is common to be confused about the difference between a package and a library, or a package and a dataset.

A package is a standardized collection of material extending R, e.g. providing code, data, or documentation. A library is a place (directory) where R knows to find packages it can use

To see available datasets, type

data()

5. R or Bioconductor is out of date

It may have a dependency on a more recent version of R (or one of the packages that it imports/depends upon does). Look at

ap["foobarbaz", "Depends"]

and consider updating your R installation to the current version. On Windows, this is most easily done via the installr package.

library(installr)
updateR()

(Of course, you may need to install.packages("installr") first.)

Equivalently for Bioconductor packages, you may need to update your Bioconductor installation.

source("http://bioconductor.org/biocLite.R")
biocLite("BiocUpgrade")

6. The package is out of date

It may have been archived (if it is no longer maintained and no longer passes R CMD check tests).

In this case, you can load an old version of the package using install_version()

library(remotes)
install_version("foobarbaz", "0.1.2")

An alternative is to install from the github CRAN mirror.

library(remotes)
install_github("cran/foobarbaz")

7. There is no Windows/OS X/Linux binary

It may not have a Windows binary due to requiring additional software that CRAN does not have. Additionally, some packages are available only via the sources for some or all platforms. In this case, there may be a version in the CRAN (extras) repository (see setRepositories above).

If the package requires compiling code (e.g. C, C++, FORTRAN) then on Windows install Rtools or on OS X install the developer tools accompanying XCode, and install the source version of the package via:

install.packages("foobarbaz", type = "source")

# Or equivalently, for Bioconductor packages:
source("http://bioconductor.org/biocLite.R")
biocLite("foobarbaz", type = "source")

On CRAN, you can tell if you'll need special tools to build the package from source by looking at the NeedsCompilation flag in the description.

8. The package is on github/Bitbucket/Gitorious

It may have a repository on Github/Bitbucket/Gitorious. These packages require the remotes package to install.

library(remotes)
install_github("packageauthor/foobarbaz")
install_bitbucket("packageauthor/foobarbaz")
install_gitorious("packageauthor/foobarbaz")

(As with installr, you may need to install.packages("remotes") first.)

9. There is no source version of the package

Although the binary version of your package is available, the source version is not. You can turn off this check by setting

options(install.packages.check.source = "no")

as described in this SO answer by imanuelc and the Details section of ?install.packages.

10. The package is in a non-standard repository

Your package is in a non-standard repository (e.g. Rbbg). Assuming that it is reasonably compliant with CRAN standards, you can still download it using install.packages; you just have to specify the repository URL.

install.packages("Rbbg", repos = "http://r.findata.org")

RHIPE on the other hand isn't in a CRAN-like repository and has its own installation instructions.

Mixing C# & VB In The Same Project

As others have said, you can't put both in one project. However, if you just have a small piece of C# or VB code that you want to include in a project in the other language, there are automatic conversion tools. They're not perfect, but they do most things pretty well. Also, SharpDevelop has a conversion utility built in.

Absolute vs relative URLs

 |    \_______________________________/ \_____________|____|____________/
scheme                |                               | |  |
 |                authority                           |path|
 |                                                    |    |
 |            path                       interpretable as filename
 |   ___________|____________                              |
/ \ /                        \                             |
urn:example:animal:ferret:nose               interpretable as extension

An absolute URL includes the parts before the "path" part - in other words, it includes the scheme (the http in http://foo/bar/baz) and the hostname (the foo in http://foo/bar/baz) (and optionally port, userinfo and port).

Relative URLs start with a path.

Absolute URLs are, well, absolute: the location of the resource can be resolved looking only at the URL itself. A relative URL is in a sense incomplete: to resolve it, you need the scheme and hostname, and these are typically taken from the current context. For example, in a web page at

http://myhost/mypath/myresource1.html

you could put a link like so

<a href="pages/page1">click me</a>

In the href attribute of the link, a relative URLs used, and if it is clicked, it has to be resolved in order to follow it. In this case, the current context is

http://myhost/mypath/myresource1.html

so the schema, hostname, and leading path of these are taken and prepended to pages/page1, yielding

http://myhost/mypath/pages/page1

If the link would have been:

<a href="/pages/page1">click me</a>

(note the / appearing at the start of the URL) then it would have been resolved as

http://myhost/pages/page1

because the leading / indicates the root of the host.

In a webapplication, I would advise to use relative URLs for all resources that belong to your app. That way, if you change the location of the pages, everything will continue to work. Any external resources (could be pages completely outside your application, but also static content that you deliver through a content delivery network) should always be pointed to using absolute URLs: if you don't there simply is no way to locate them, because they reside on a different server.

Can I install the "app store" in an IOS simulator?

This is NOT possible

The Simulator does not run ARM code, ONLY x86 code. Unless you have the raw source code from Apple, you won't see the App Store on the Simulator.

The app you write you will be able to test in the Simulator by running it directly from Xcode even if you don't have a developer account. To test your app on an actual device, you will need to be apart of the Apple Developer program.

PivotTable's Report Filter using "greater than"

Maybe in your data source add a column which does a sumif over all rows. Not sure what your data looks like but something like =(sumif([column holding pivot row heads),[current row head value in row], probability column)>.2). This will give you a True when the pivot table will show >20%.
Then add a filter on your pivot table on this column for TRUE values

How to force browser to download file?

Set content-type and other headers before you write the file out. For small files the content is buffered, and the browser gets the headers first. For big ones the data come first.

It's not jQuery; it's pure JavaScript.

How to diff a commit with its parent?

As @mipadi points out, you can use git show $COMMIT, but this also shows some headers and the commit message. If you want a straight diff, use git show --pretty=format:%b $COMMIT.

This is, obviously not a very short hand, so I'm keeping this alias in my .gitconfig

    [alias]
      sd = show --pretty=format:%b

This enables me to use git sd $COMMITto show diff.

Can I have a video with transparent background using HTML5 video tag?

Mp4 files can be playable with transparent background using seeThrou Js library. All you need to combine actual video and alpha channel in the single video. Also make sure to keep video height dimension below 1400 px as some of the old iphone devices wont play videos with dimension more than 2000. This is pretty useful in safari desktop and mobile devices which doesnt support webm at this time.

more details can be found in the below link https://github.com/m90/seeThru

Can you set a border opacity in CSS?

It's easy, use a solid shadow with 0 offset:

#foo {
  border-radius: 1px;
  box-shadow: 0px 0px 0px 8px rgba(0,0,0,0.3);
}

Also, if you set a border-radius to the element, it gives you pretty rounded borders

Preventing an image from being draggable or selectable without using JS

Depending on the situation, it is often helpful to make the image a background image of a div with CSS.

<div id='my-image'></div>

Then in CSS:

#my-image {
    background-image: url('/img/foo.png');
    width: ???px;
    height: ???px;
}

See this JSFiddle for a live example with a button and a different sizing option.

Provide static IP to docker containers via docker-compose

Note that I don't recommend a fixed IP for containers in Docker unless you're doing something that allows routing from outside to the inside of your container network (e.g. macvlan). DNS is already there for service discovery inside of the container network and supports container scaling. And outside the container network, you should use exposed ports on the host. With that disclaimer, here's the compose file you want:

version: '2'

Getting unique items from a list

Use a HashSet<T>. For example:

var items = "A B A D A C".Split(' ');
var unique_items = new HashSet<string>(items);
foreach (string s in unique_items)
    Console.WriteLine(s);

prints

A
B
D
C

Object does not support item assignment error

Another way would be adding __getitem__, __setitem__ function

def __getitem__(self, key):
    return getattr(self, key)

You can use self[key] to access now.

Difference between style = "position:absolute" and style = "position:relative"

position: absolute can be placed anywhere and remain there such as 0,0.

position: relative is placed with offset from the location it is originally placed in the browser.

How to generate Class Diagram (UML) on Android Studio (IntelliJ Idea)

I have managed to to do it in a way. Perform all the steps as referenced by Michal Rowicki above.

  1. Open Visual Paradigm software.
  2. Create a new Project
  3. There would be an option on the Tools bar above that states Code and select Instant Reverse... from the drop down menu with Java language(or other)
  4. Select your application folder where your project is located and add it to the project(i have selected the complete folder application)
  5. The application should now appear on the left pane in Class Repository
  6. Then all you do is right click the project that you have added and select Reverse to new class diagram
  7. Select either you wish to have the packages included in the class diagram or just the class diagram of the project

Then it should appear on your screen and customize it as you wish

However i do not know if the plugin in Android Studio was necessary nevertheless it has worked in a way for me.

Shortcut to create properties in Visual Studio?

ReSharper offers property generation in its extensive feature set. (It's not cheap though, unless you're working on an open-source project.)

Difference between web reference and service reference?

Another point to take in consideration is that the new UI for Service Interface will give you much more flexibility on how you want to create your proxy class. For example, it will allow you to map data contracts to existing dlls, if they match (actually this is the default behaviour).

Capitalize first letter. MySQL

If there are more than 1 word in the column, then this will not work as shown below. The UDF mentioned above may help in such case.

mysql> select * from names;
+--------------+
| name         |
+--------------+
| john abraham |
+--------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

mysql> SELECT CONCAT(UCASE(MID(name,1,1)),MID(name,2)) AS name FROM names;
+--------------+
| name         |
+--------------+
| John abraham |
+--------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

How to Read and Write from the Serial Port

I spent a lot of time to use SerialPort class and has concluded to use SerialPort.BaseStream class instead. You can see source code: SerialPort-source and SerialPort.BaseStream-source for deep understanding. I created and use code that shown below.

  • The core function public int Recv(byte[] buffer, int maxLen) has name and works like "well known" socket's recv().

  • It means that

    • in one hand it has timeout for no any data and throws TimeoutException.
    • In other hand, when any data has received,
      • it receives data either until maxLen bytes
      • or short timeout (theoretical 6 ms) in UART data flow

.

public class Uart : SerialPort

    {
        private int _receiveTimeout;

        public int ReceiveTimeout { get => _receiveTimeout; set => _receiveTimeout = value; }

        static private string ComPortName = "";

        /// <summary>
        /// It builds PortName using ComPortNum parameter and opens SerialPort.
        /// </summary>
        /// <param name="ComPortNum"></param>
        public Uart(int ComPortNum) : base()
        {
            base.BaudRate = 115200; // default value
            _receiveTimeout = 2000;
            ComPortName = "COM" + ComPortNum;

            try
            {
                base.PortName = ComPortName;
                base.Open();
            }
            catch (UnauthorizedAccessException ex)
            {

How to run python script with elevated privilege on windows

I found a very easy solution to this problem.

  1. Create a shortcut for python.exe
  2. Change the shortcut target into something like C:\xxx\...\python.exe your_script.py
  3. Click "advance..." in the property panel of the shortcut, and click the option "run as administrator"

I'm not sure whether the spells of these options are right, since I'm using Chinese version of Windows.

Mythical man month 10 lines per developer day - how close on large projects?

On one of my current projects, in some modules, I am proud to have contributed a negative line count to the code base. Identifying which areas of code have grown unnecessary complexity and can be simplified with a cleaner and clearer design is a useful skill.

Of course some problems are inherently complex and required complex solutions, but on most large projects areas which have had poorly defined or changing requirements tend to have overly complex solutions with a higher number of issues per line.

Given a problem to solve I much prefer the solution that reduces the line count. Of course, at the start of small project I can generate many more than ten lines of code per day, but I tend not to think of the amount of code that I've written, only what it does and how well it does it. I certainly wouldn't aim to beat ten lines per day or consider it an achievement to do so.

Floating Div Over An Image

Change your positioning a bit:

.container {
    border: 1px solid #DDDDDD;
    width: 200px;
    height: 200px;
    position:relative;
}
.tag {
    float: left;
    position: absolute;
    left: 0px;
    top: 0px;
    background-color: green;
}

jsFiddle example

You need to set relative positioning on the container and then absolute on the inner tag div. The inner tag's absolute positioning will be with respect to the outer relatively positioned div. You don't even need the z-index rule on the tag div.

Fastest method of screen capturing on Windows

EDIT: I can see that this is listed under your first edit link as "the GDI way". This is still a decent way to go even with the performance advisory on that site, you can get to 30fps easily I would think.

From this comment (I have no experience doing this, I'm just referencing someone who does):

HDC hdc = GetDC(NULL); // get the desktop device context
HDC hDest = CreateCompatibleDC(hdc); // create a device context to use yourself

// get the height and width of the screen
int height = GetSystemMetrics(SM_CYVIRTUALSCREEN);
int width = GetSystemMetrics(SM_CXVIRTUALSCREEN);

// create a bitmap
HBITMAP hbDesktop = CreateCompatibleBitmap( hdc, width, height);

// use the previously created device context with the bitmap
SelectObject(hDest, hbDesktop);

// copy from the desktop device context to the bitmap device context
// call this once per 'frame'
BitBlt(hDest, 0,0, width, height, hdc, 0, 0, SRCCOPY);

// after the recording is done, release the desktop context you got..
ReleaseDC(NULL, hdc);

// ..delete the bitmap you were using to capture frames..
DeleteObject(hbDesktop);

// ..and delete the context you created
DeleteDC(hDest);

I'm not saying this is the fastest, but the BitBlt operation is generally very fast if you're copying between compatible device contexts.

For reference, Open Broadcaster Software implements something like this as part of their "dc_capture" method, although rather than creating the destination context hDest using CreateCompatibleDC they use an IDXGISurface1, which works with DirectX 10+. If there is no support for this they fall back to CreateCompatibleDC.

To change it to use a specific application, you need to change the first line to GetDC(game) where game is the handle of the game's window, and then set the right height and width of the game's window too.

Once you have the pixels in hDest/hbDesktop, you still need to save it to a file, but if you're doing screen capture then I would think you would want to buffer a certain number of them in memory and save to the video file in chunks, so I will not point to code for saving a static image to disk.

sql select with column name like

Here is a nice way to display the information that you want:

SELECT B.table_catalog as 'Database_Name',
         B.table_name as 'Table_Name',
        stuff((select ', ' + A.column_name
              from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS A
              where A.Table_name = B.Table_Name
              FOR XML PATH(''),TYPE).value('(./text())[1]','NVARCHAR(MAX)')
              , 1, 2, '') as 'Columns'
  FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS B
  WHERE B.TABLE_NAME like '%%'
        AND B.COLUMN_NAME like '%%'
  GROUP BY B.Table_Catalog, B.Table_Name
  Order by 1 asc

Add anything between either '%%' in the main select to narrow down what tables and/or column names you want.

How to use protractor to check if an element is visible?

I had a similar issue, in that I only wanted return elements that were visible in a page object. I found that I'm able to use the css :not. In the case of this issue, this should do you...

expect($('i.icon-spinner:not(.ng-hide)').isDisplayed()).toBeTruthy();

In the context of a page object, you can get ONLY those elements that are visible in this way as well. Eg. given a page with multiple items, where only some are visible, you can use:

this.visibileIcons = $$('i.icon:not(.ng-hide)');

This will return you all visible i.icons

How to run Pip commands from CMD

Firstly make sure that you have installed python 2.7 or higher

Open Command Prompt as administrator and change directory to python and then change directory to Scripts by typing cd Scripts then type pip.exe and now you can install modules Step by Step:

  • Open Cmd

  • type in "cd \" and then enter

  • type in "cd python2.7" and then enter

Note that my python version is 2.7 so my directory is that so use your python folder here...

  • type in "cd Scripts" and enter

  • Now enter this "pip.exe"

  • Now it prompts you to install modules

How do I list one filename per output line in Linux?

Use the -1 option (note this is a "one" digit, not a lowercase letter "L"), like this:

ls -1a

First, though, make sure your ls supports -1. GNU coreutils (installed on standard Linux systems) and Solaris do; but if in doubt, use man ls or ls --help or check the documentation. E.g.:

$ man ls
...
       -1 list one file per line. Avoid '\n' with -q or -b

MySQL: Insert record if not exists in table

This query can be used in PHP code.

I have an ID column in this table, so I need check for duplication for all columns except this ID column:

#need to change values
SET @goodsType = 1, @sybType=5, @deviceId = asdf12345SDFasdf2345;

INSERT INTO `devices` (`goodsTypeId`, `goodsId`, `deviceId`) #need to change tablename and columnsnames
SELECT * FROM (SELECT @goodsType, @sybType, @deviceId) AS tmp
WHERE NOT EXISTS (
    SELECT 'goodsTypeId' FROM `devices` #need to change tablename and columns names
    WHERE `goodsTypeId` = @goodsType
        AND `goodsId` = @sybType
        AND `deviceId` = @deviceId
) LIMIT 1;

and now new item will be added only in case of there is not exist row with values configured in SET string

Uploading file using POST request in Node.js

An undocumented feature of the formData field that request implements is the ability to pass options to the form-data module it uses:

request({
  url: 'http://example.com',
  method: 'POST',
  formData: {
    'regularField': 'someValue',
    'regularFile': someFileStream,
    'customBufferFile': {
      value: fileBufferData,
      options: {
        filename: 'myfile.bin'
      }
    }
  }
}, handleResponse);

This is useful if you need to avoid calling requestObj.form() but need to upload a buffer as a file. The form-data module also accepts contentType (the MIME type) and knownLength options.

This change was added in October 2014 (so 2 months after this question was asked), so it should be safe to use now (in 2017+). This equates to version v2.46.0 or above of request.

How to increase an array's length

How do function pointers in C work?

Starting from scratch function has Some Memory Address From Where They start executing. In Assembly Language They Are called as (call "function's memory address").Now come back to C If function has a memory address then they can be manipulated by Pointers in C.So By the rules of C

1.First you need to declare a pointer to function 2.Pass the Address of the Desired function

****Note->the functions should be of same type****

This Simple Programme will Illustrate Every Thing.

#include<stdio.h>
void (*print)() ;//Declare a Function Pointers
void sayhello();//Declare The Function Whose Address is to be passed
                //The Functions should Be of Same Type
int main()
{
 print=sayhello;//Addressof sayhello is assigned to print
 print();//print Does A call To The Function
 return 0;
}

void sayhello()
{
 printf("\n Hello World");
}

enter image description hereAfter That lets See How machine Understands Them.Glimpse of machine instruction of the above programme in 32 bit architecture.

The red mark area is showing how the address is being exchanged and storing in eax. Then their is a call instruction on eax. eax contains the desired address of the function.

Recursively list all files in a directory including files in symlink directories

find /dir -type f -follow -print

-type f means it will display real files (not symlinks)

-follow means it will follow your directory symlinks

-print will cause it to display the filenames.

If you want a ls type display, you can do the following

find /dir -type f -follow -print|xargs ls -l

How do I get the value of text input field using JavaScript?

There are various methods to get an input textbox value directly (without wrapping the input element inside a form element):

Method 1:

document.getElementById('textbox_id').value to get the value of desired box

For example, document.getElementById("searchTxt").value;

Note: Method 2,3,4 and 6 returns a collection of elements, so use [whole_number] to get the desired occurrence. For the first element, use [0], for the second one use 1, and so on...

Method 2:

Use document.getElementsByClassName('class_name')[whole_number].value which returns a Live HTMLCollection

For example, document.getElementsByClassName("searchField")[0].value; if this is the first textbox in your page.

Method 3:

Use document.getElementsByTagName('tag_name')[whole_number].value which also returns a live HTMLCollection

For example, document.getElementsByTagName("input")[0].value;, if this is the first textbox in your page.

Method 4:

document.getElementsByName('name')[whole_number].value which also >returns a live NodeList

For example, document.getElementsByName("searchTxt")[0].value; if this is the first textbox with name 'searchtext' in your page.

Method 5:

Use the powerful document.querySelector('selector').value which uses a CSS selector to select the element

For example, document.querySelector('#searchTxt').value; selected by id
document.querySelector('.searchField').value; selected by class
document.querySelector('input').value; selected by tagname
document.querySelector('[name="searchTxt"]').value; selected by name

Method 6:

document.querySelectorAll('selector')[whole_number].value which also uses a CSS selector to select elements, but it returns all elements with that selector as a static Nodelist.

For example, document.querySelectorAll('#searchTxt')[0].value; selected by id
document.querySelectorAll('.searchField')[0].value; selected by class
document.querySelectorAll('input')[0].value; selected by tagname
document.querySelectorAll('[name="searchTxt"]')[0].value; selected by name

Assuming bash:

So, ${#ARRAY[*]} expands to the length of the array ARRAY.

When to use an interface instead of an abstract class and vice versa?

This can be a very difficult call to make...

One pointer I can give: An object can implement many interfaces, whilst an object can only inherit one base class( in a modern OO language like c#, I know C++ has multiple inheritance - but isn't that frowned upon?)

Is the buildSessionFactory() Configuration method deprecated in Hibernate

Code verified to work in Hibernate 4.3.0. Notice you can remove the XML filename parameter, or else provide your own path there. This is similar to (but typos corrected) other posts here, but this one is correct.

import org.hibernate.SessionFactory;
import org.hibernate.boot.registry.StandardServiceRegistryBuilder;
import org.hibernate.cfg.Configuration;
import org.hibernate.service.ServiceRegistry;

Configuration configuration = new Configuration();
configuration.configure("/com/rtw/test/hiber/hibernate.cfg.xml");
ServiceRegistry  serviceRegistry = new StandardServiceRegistryBuilder().applySettings(configuration.getProperties()).build();
    sessionFactory = configuration.buildSessionFactory(serviceRegistry);

How to animate the change of image in an UIImageView?

What is the difference between 'classic' and 'integrated' pipeline mode in IIS7?

In classic mode IIS works h ISAPI extensions and ISAPI filters directly. And uses two pipe lines , one for native code and other for managed code. You can simply say that in Classic mode IIS 7.x works just as IIS 6 and you dont get extra benefits out of IIS 7.x features.

In integrated mode IIS and ASP.Net are tightly coupled rather then depending on just two DLLs on Asp.net as in case of classic mode.

Passing multiple variables in @RequestBody to a Spring MVC controller using Ajax

While it's true that @RequestBody must map to a single object, that object can be a Map, so this gets you a good way to what you are attempting to achieve (no need to write a one off backing object):

@RequestMapping(value = "/Test", method = RequestMethod.POST)
@ResponseBody
public boolean getTest(@RequestBody Map<String, String> json) {
   //json.get("str1") == "test one"
}

You can also bind to Jackson's ObjectNode if you want a full JSON tree:

public boolean getTest(@RequestBody ObjectNode json) {
   //json.get("str1").asText() == "test one"

Is it possible to program iPhone in C++

Having some experience of this, you can indeed use C++ code for your "core" code, but you have to use objective-C for anything iPhone specific.

Don't try to force Objective-C to act like C++. At first it will seem to you this is possible, but the resulting code really won't work well with Cocoa, and you will get very confused as to what is going on. Take the time to learn properly, without any C++ around, how to build GUIs and iPhone applications, then link in your C++ base.

Java equivalent to C# extension methods

Java 8 now supports default methods, which are similar to C#'s extension methods.

Tkinter understanding mainloop

while 1:
    root.update()

... is (very!) roughly similar to:

root.mainloop()

The difference is, mainloop is the correct way to code and the infinite loop is subtly incorrect. I suspect, though, that the vast majority of the time, either will work. It's just that mainloop is a much cleaner solution. After all, calling mainloop is essentially this under the covers:

while the_window_has_not_been_destroyed():
    wait_until_the_event_queue_is_not_empty()
    event = event_queue.pop()
    event.handle()

... which, as you can see, isn't much different than your own while loop. So, why create your own infinite loop when tkinter already has one you can use?

Put in the simplest terms possible: always call mainloop as the last logical line of code in your program. That's how Tkinter was designed to be used.

Adding image inside table cell in HTML

You have a TH floating at the top of your table which isn't within a TR. Fix that.

With regards to your image problem you;re referencing the image absolutely from your computer's hard drive. Don't do that.

You also have a closing tag which shouldn't be there.

It should be:

<img src="h.gif" alt="" border="3" height="100" width="100" />

Also this:

<table border = 5 bordercolor = red align = center>

Your colspans are also messed up. You only seem to have three columns but have colspans of 14 and 4 in your code.

Should be:

<table border="5" bordercolor="red" align="center">

Also you have no DOCTYPE declared. You should at least add:

<!DOCTYPE html>

Compare two Lists for differences

.... but how do we find the equivalent class in the second List to pass to the method below;

This is your actual problem; you must have at least one immutable property, a id or something like that, to identify corresponding objects in both lists. If you do not have such a property you, cannot solve the problem without errors. You can just try to guess corresponding objects by searching for minimal or logical changes.

If you have such an property, the solution becomes really simple.

Enumerable.Join(
   listA, listB,
   a => a.Id, b => b.Id,
   (a, b) => CompareTwoClass_ReturnDifferences(a, b))

thanks to you both danbruc and Noldorin for your feedback. both Lists will be the same length and in the same order. so the method above is close, but can you modify this method to pass the enum.Current to the method i posted above?

Now I am confused ... what is the problem with that? Why not just the following?

for (Int32 i = 0; i < Math.Min(listA.Count, listB.Count); i++)
{
    yield return CompareTwoClass_ReturnDifferences(listA[i], listB[i]);
}

The Math.Min() call may even be left out if equal length is guaranted.

Noldorin's implementation is of course smarter because of the delegate and the use of enumerators instead of using ICollection.

Delete cookie by name?

I'm not really sure if that was the situation with Roundcube version from May '12, but for current one the answer is that you can't delete roundcube_sessauth cookie from JavaScript, as it is marked as HttpOnly. And this means it's not accessible from JS client side code and can be removed only by server side script or by direct user action (via some browser mechanics like integrated debugger or some plugin).

How do I force Internet Explorer to render in Standards Mode and NOT in Quirks?

I know this question was asked over 2 years ago but no one has mentioned this yet.

The best method is to use a http header

Adding the meta tag to the head doesn't always work because IE might have determined the mode before it's read. The best way to make sure IE always uses standards mode is to use a custom http header.

Header:

name: X-UA-Compatible
value: IE=edge

For example in a .NET application you could put this in the web.config file.

<system.webServer>
    <httpProtocol>
      <customHeaders>
        <add name="X-UA-Compatible" value="IE=edge" />
      </customHeaders>
    </httpProtocol>
</system.webServer>

How to get text from each cell of an HTML table?

I have not used Selenium 2. Selenium 1.x has selenium.getTable("tablename".columnNumber.rowNumber) to reach the required cell. May be you can use webdriverbackedselenium and do this.

int numOfCols=selenium.getXpathCount("//table[@id='tableid']//tr//td")

JVM property -Dfile.encoding=UTF8 or UTF-8?

This is not a direct answer, but very useful if you don't have access to how java starts: you can set the environment variable JAVA_TOOLS_OPTIONS to -Dfile.encoding="UTF-8" and every time the jvm starts it will pick up that option.

Visual Studio popup: "the operation could not be completed"

Solution: I was getting this dialogue when trying to build/rebuild/clean my .sln. To fix it I needed to stop the IIS site bound to the application and restart visual studio. (Then start your site again).

How I discovered the cause: Seems this is a pretty generic message for a wide range of issues, I ended up tracking down my particular issue to a few locked files by IIS with the event logs.

The solutions for deleting all sites are kind of a "Nuke it from orbit" approach which should be used as a last resort.

Remove gutter space for a specific div only

To add to Skelly's Bootstrap 3 no-gutter answer above (https://stackoverflow.com/a/21282059/662883)

Add the following to prevent gutters on a row containing only one column (useful when using column-wrapping: http://getbootstrap.com/css/#grid-example-wrapping):

.row.no-gutter [class*='col-']:only-child,
.row.no-gutter [class*='col-']:only-child
{
    padding-right: 0;

What are the most common font-sizes for H1-H6 tags

It would depend on the browser's default stylesheet. You can view an (unofficial) table of CSS2.1 User Agent stylesheet defaults here.

Based on the page listed above, the default sizes look something like this:

    IE7     IE8     FF2         FF3         Opera   Safari 3.1
H1  24pt    2em     32px        32px        32px    32px
H2  18pt    1.5em   24px        24px        24px    24px
H3  13.55pt 1.17em  18.7333px   18.7167px   18px    19px
H4  n/a     n/a     n/a         n/a         n/a     n/a
H5  10pt    0.83em  13.2667px   13.2833px   13px    13px
H6  7.55pt  0.67em  10.7333px   10.7167px   10px    11px

Also worth taking a look at is the default stylesheet for HTML 4. The W3C recommends using these styles as the default. An abridged excerpt:

h1 { font-size: 2em; }
h2 { font-size: 1.5em; }
h3 { font-size: 1.17em; }
h4 { font-size: 1.12em; }
h5 { font-size: .83em; }
h6 { font-size: .75em; }

Hope this information is helpful.

Log.INFO vs. Log.DEBUG

Debug: fine-grained statements concerning program state, typically used for debugging;

Info: informational statements concerning program state, representing program events or behavior tracking;

Warn: statements that describe potentially harmful events or states in the program;

Error: statements that describe non-fatal errors in the application; this level is used quite often for logging handled exceptions;

Fatal: statements representing the most severe of error conditions, assumedly resulting in program termination.

What does the "+" (plus sign) CSS selector mean?

The + sign means select an "adjacent sibling"

For example, this style will apply from the second <p>:

_x000D_
_x000D_
p + p {
   font-weight: bold;
}
_x000D_
<div>
   <p>Paragraph 1</p>
   <p>Paragraph 2</p>
</div>
_x000D_
_x000D_
_x000D_

Example

See this JSFiddle and you will understand it: http://jsfiddle.net/7c05m7tv/ (Another JSFiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/7c05m7tv/70/)

Browser Support

Adjacent sibling selectors are supported in all modern browsers.

Break or return from Java 8 stream forEach?

   if(isMatch) {

});

It will do only operation where it find match, and after find match it stop it's iteration.

MIT vs GPL license

Can I include GPL licensed code in a MIT licensed product?

You can. GPL is free software as well as MIT is, both licenses do not restrict you to bring together the code where as "include" is always two-way.

In copyright for a combined work (that is two or more works form together a work), it does not make much of a difference if the one work is "larger" than the other or not.

So if you include GPL licensed code in a MIT licensed product you will at the same time include a MIT licensed product in GPL licensed code as well.

As a second opinion, the OSI listed the following criteria (in more detail) for both licenses (MIT and GPL):

  1. Free Redistribution
  2. Source Code
  3. Derived Works
  4. Integrity of The Author's Source Code
  5. No Discrimination Against Persons or Groups
  6. No Discrimination Against Fields of Endeavor
  7. Distribution of License
  8. License Must Not Be Specific to a Product
  9. License Must Not Restrict Other Software
  10. License Must Be Technology-Neutral

Both allow the creation of combined works, which is what you've been asking for.

If combining the two works is considered being a derivate, then this is not restricted as well by both licenses.

And both licenses do not restrict to distribute the software.

It seems to me that the chief difference between the MIT license and GPL is that the MIT doesn't require modifications be open sourced whereas the GPL does.

The GPL doesn't require you to release your modifications only because you made them. That's not precise.

You might mix this with distribiution of software under GPL which is not what you've asked about directly.

Is that correct - is the GPL is more restrictive than the MIT license?

This is how I understand it:

As far as distribution counts, you need to put the whole package under GPL. MIT code inside of the package will still be available under MIT whereas the GPL applies to the package as a whole if not limited by higher rights.

"Restrictive" or "more restrictive" / "less restrictive" depends a lot on the point of view. For a software-user the MIT might result in software that is more restricted than the one available under GPL even some call the GPL more restrictive nowadays. That user in specific will call the MIT more restrictive. It's just subjective to say so and different people will give you different answers to that.

As it's just subjective to talk about restrictions of different licenses, you should think about what you would like to achieve instead:

  • If you want to restrict the use of your modifications, then MIT is able to be more restrictive than the GPL for distribution and that might be what you're looking for.
  • In case you want to ensure that the freedom of your software does not get restricted that much by the users you distribute it to, then you might want to release under GPL instead of MIT.

As long as you're the author it's you who can decide.

So the most restrictive person ever is the author, regardless of which license anybody is opting for ;)

How do I format a date in VBA with an abbreviated month?

I'm using

Sheet1.Range("E2", "E3000").NumberFormat = "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss"

to format a column

So I guess

Sheet1.Range("E2", "E3000").NumberFormat = "MMM dd yyyy"

would do the trick for you.

Note this exhibits a bit of auto sizing to keep it pretty based on how much text you ask it display. I also know it's lacking the bells and whistles but it's a solid step forward for those facing this same dilemma.

How do I get the type of a variable?

If you have a variable

int k;

You can get its type using

cout << typeid(k).name() << endl;

See the following thread on SO: Similar question

Using Mockito to stub and execute methods for testing

You are confusing a Mock with a Spy.

In a mock all methods are stubbed and return "smart return types". This means that calling any method on a mocked class will do nothing unless you specify behaviour.

In a spy the original functionality of the class is still there but you can validate method invocations in a spy and also override method behaviour.

What you want is

MyProcessingAgent mockMyAgent = Mockito.spy(MyProcessingAgent.class);

A quick example:

static class TestClass {

    public String getThing() {
        return "Thing";
    }

    public String getOtherThing() {
        return getThing();
    }
}

public static void main(String[] args) {
    final TestClass testClass = Mockito.spy(new TestClass());
    Mockito.when(testClass.getThing()).thenReturn("Some Other thing");
    System.out.println(testClass.getOtherThing());
}

Output is:

Some Other thing

NB: You should really try to mock the dependencies for the class being tested not the class itself.

How to store Configuration file and read it using React

With webpack you can put env-specific config into the externals field in webpack.config.js

externals: {
  'Config': JSON.stringify(process.env.NODE_ENV === 'production' ? {
    serverUrl: "https://myserver.com"
  } : {
    serverUrl: "http://localhost:8090"
  })
}

If you want to store the configs in a separate JSON file, that's possible too, you can require that file and assign to Config:

externals: {
  'Config': JSON.stringify(process.env.NODE_ENV === 'production' ? require('./config.prod.json') : require('./config.dev.json'))
}

Then in your modules, you can use the config:

var Config = require('Config')
fetchData(Config.serverUrl + '/Enterprises/...')

For React:

import Config from 'Config';
axios.get(this.app_url, {
        'headers': Config.headers
        }).then(...);

Not sure if it covers your use case but it's been working pretty well for us.

How to use S_ISREG() and S_ISDIR() POSIX Macros?

You're using S_ISREG() and S_ISDIR() correctly, you're just using them on the wrong thing.

In your while((dit = readdir(dip)) != NULL) loop in main, you're calling stat on currentPath over and over again without changing currentPath:

if(stat(currentPath, &statbuf) == -1) {
    perror("stat");
    return errno;
}

Shouldn't you be appending a slash and dit->d_name to currentPath to get the full path to the file that you want to stat? Methinks that similar changes to your other stat calls are also needed.

React Native: Getting the position of an element

React Native provides a .measure(...) method which takes a callback and calls it with the offsets and width/height of a component:

myComponent.measure( (fx, fy, width, height, px, py) => {

    console.log('Component width is: ' + width)
    console.log('Component height is: ' + height)
    console.log('X offset to frame: ' + fx)
    console.log('Y offset to frame: ' + fy)
    console.log('X offset to page: ' + px)
    console.log('Y offset to page: ' + py)
})

Example...

The following calculates the layout of a custom component after it is rendered:

class MyComponent extends React.Component {
    render() {
        return <View ref={view => { this.myComponent = view; }} />
    }
    componentDidMount() {
        // Print component dimensions to console
        this.myComponent.measure( (fx, fy, width, height, px, py) => {
            console.log('Component width is: ' + width)
            console.log('Component height is: ' + height)
            console.log('X offset to frame: ' + fx)
            console.log('Y offset to frame: ' + fy)
            console.log('X offset to page: ' + px)
            console.log('Y offset to page: ' + py)
        })
    }
}

Bug notes

  • Note that sometimes the component does not finish rendering before componentDidMount() is called. If you are getting zeros as a result from measure(...), then wrapping it in a setTimeout should solve the problem, i.e.:

    setTimeout( myComponent.measure(...), 0 )

The label is an inline element, meaning it is only as big as it needs to be.

Set the display property to either inline-block or block in order for the width property to take effect.

Calling JMX MBean method from a shell script

You might want also to have a look at jmx4perl. It provides java-less access to a remote Java EE Server's MBeans. However, a small agent servlet needs to be installed on the target platform, which provides a restful JMX Access via HTTP with a JSON payload. (Version 0.50 will add an agentless mode by implementing a JSR-160 proxy).

Advantages are quick startup times compared to launching a local java JVM and ease of use. jmx4perl comes with a full set of Perl modules which can be easily used in your own scripts:

use JMX::Jmx4Perl;
use JMX::Jmx4Perl::Alias; # Import certains aliases for MBeans

print "Memory Used: ",
      JMX::Jmx4Perl
          ->new(url => "http://localhost:8080/j4p")
          ->get_attribute(MEMORY_HEAP_USED);

You can also use alias for common MBean/Attribute/Operation combos (e.g. for most MXBeans). For additional features (Nagios-Plugin, XPath-like access to complex attribute types, ...), please refer to the documentation of jmx4perl.

git-diff to ignore ^M

Is there an option like "treat ^M as newline when diffing" ?

There will be one with Git 2.16 (Q1 2018), as the "diff" family of commands learned to ignore differences in carriage return at the end of line.

See commit e9282f0 (26 Oct 2017) by Junio C Hamano (gitster).
Helped-by: Johannes Schindelin (dscho).
(Merged by Junio C Hamano -- gitster -- in commit 10f65c2, 27 Nov 2017)

diff: --ignore-cr-at-eol

A new option --ignore-cr-at-eol tells the diff machinery to treat a carriage-return at the end of a (complete) line as if it does not exist.

Just like other "--ignore-*" options to ignore various kinds of whitespace differences, this will help reviewing the real changes you made without getting distracted by spurious CRLF<->LF conversion made by your editor program.

How can you represent inheritance in a database?

I lean towards method #1 (a unified Section table), for the sake of efficiently retrieving entire policies with all their sections (which I assume your system will be doing a lot).

Further, I don't know what version of SQL Server you're using, but in 2008+ Sparse Columns help optimize performance in situations where many of the values in a column will be NULL.

Ultimately, you'll have to decide just how "similar" the policy sections are. Unless they differ substantially, I think a more-normalized solution might be more trouble than it's worth... but only you can make that call. :)

Xcode 5 and iOS 7: Architecture and Valid architectures

None of the answers worked and then I was forgetting to set minimum deployment target which can be found in Project -> General -> Deployment Info -> Deployment Target -> 8.0

You can try the following. It's working...

#include <iostream>
#include <fstream>
#include <string>
#include <sstream>
using namespace std;

template <class T>
string to_string(T t, ios_base & (*f)(ios_base&))
{
  ostringstream oss;
  oss << f << t;
  return oss.str();
}

int main ()
{
  cout<<to_string<long>(123456, hex)<<endl;
  system("PAUSE");
  return 0;
}

C++ Singleton design pattern

Your code is correct, except that you didn't declare the instance pointer outside the class. The inside class declarations of static variables are not considered declarations in C++, however this is allowed in other languages like C# or Java etc.

class Singleton
{
   public:

Disabling the long-running-script message in Internet Explorer

I can't comment on the previous answers since I haven't tried them. However I know the following strategy works for me. It is a bit less elegant but gets the job done. It also doesn't require breaking code into chunks like some other approaches seem to do. In my case, that was not an option, because my code had recursive calls to the logic that was being looped; i.e., there was no practical way to just hop out of the loop, then be able to resume in some way by using global vars to preserve current state since those globals could be changed by references to them in a subsequent recursed call. So I needed a straight-forward way that would not offer a chance for the code to compromise the data state integrity.

Assuming the "stop script?" dialog is coming up during a for() loop executuion after a number of iterations (in my case, about 8-10), and messing with the registry is no option, here was the fix (for me, anyway):

var anarray = [];
var array_member = null;
var counter = 0; // Could also be initialized to the max desired value you want, if
                 // planning on counting downward.

function func_a()
{
 // some code
 // optionally, set 'counter' to some desired value.
 ...
 anarray = { populate array with objects to be processed that would have been
             processed by a for() }
 // 'anarry' is going to be reduced in size iteratively. Therefore, if you need
 // to maintain an orig. copy of it, create one, something like 'anarraycopy'.
 // If you need only a shallow copy, use 'anarraycopy = anarray.slice(0);'
 // A deep copy, depending on what kind of objects you have in the array, may be
 // necessary. The strategy for a deep copy will vary and is not discussed here.
 // If you need merely to record the array's orig. size, set a local or
 // global var equal to 'anarray.length;', depending on your needs.
 // - or -
 // plan to use 'counter' as if it was 'i' in a for(), as in
 // for(i=0; i < x; i++ {...}

   ...

   // Using 50 for example only. Could be 100, etc. Good practice is to pick something
   // other than 0 due to Javascript engine processing; a 0 value is all but useless
   // since it takes time for Javascript to do anything. 50 seems to be good value to
   // use. It could be though that what value to use does depend on how much time it
   // takes the code in func_c() to execute, so some profiling and knowing what the
   // most likely deployed user base is going to be using might help. At the same
   // time, this may make no difference. Not entirely sure myself. Also,
   // using "'func_b()'" instead of just "func_b()" is critical. I've found that the
   // callback will not occur unless you have the function in single-quotes.

   setTimeout('func_b()', 50);

  // No more code after this. function func_a() is now done. It's important not to
  // put any more code in after this point since setTimeout() does not act like
  // Thread.sleep() in Java. Processing just continues, and that is the problem
  // you're trying to get around.

} // func_a()

function func_b()
{
 if( anarray.length == 0 )
 {
   // possibly do something here, relevant to your purposes
   return;
 }
//  -or-
if( counter == x ) // 'x' is some value you want to go to. It'll likely either
                   // be 0 (when counting down) or the max desired value you
                   // have for x if counting upward.
{
  // possibly do something here, relevant to your purposes
  return;
}

array_member = anarray[0];
anarray.splice(0,1); // Reduces 'anarray' by one member, the one at anarray[0].
                     // The one that was at anarray[1] is now at
                     // anarray[0] so will be used at the next iteration of func_b().

func_c();

setTimeout('func_b()', 50);

} // func_b()

function func_c()
{
  counter++; // If not using 'anarray'. Possibly you would use
             // 'counter--' if you set 'counter' to the highest value
             // desired and are working your way backwards.

  // Here is where you have the code that would have been executed
  // in the for() loop. Breaking out of it or doing a 'continue'
  // equivalent can be done with using 'return;' or canceling
  // processing entirely can be done by setting a global var
  // to indicate the process is cancelled, then doing a 'return;', as in
  // 'bCancelOut = true; return;'. Then in func_b() you would be evaluating
  // bCancelOut at the top to see if it was true. If so, you'd just exit from
  // func_b() with a 'return;'

} // func_c()

SQL to generate a list of numbers from 1 to 100

I created an Oracle function that returns a table of numbers

CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION [schema].FN_TABLE_NUMBERS(
    NUMINI INTEGER,
    NUMFIN INTEGER,
    EXPONENCIAL INTEGER DEFAULT 0
) RETURN TBL_NUMBERS
IS

    FOR I IN (
        WITH TABLA AS (SELECT NUMINI, NUMFIN FROM DUAL)
        SELECT NUMINI NUM FROM TABLA UNION ALL
        SELECT

SQL Server: combining multiple rows into one row

There are several methods.

If you want just the consolidated string value returned, this is a good quick and easy approach

DECLARE @combinedString VARCHAR(MAX)
SELECT @combinedString = COALESCE(@combinedString + ', ', '') + stringvalue
FROM jira.customfieldValue
WHERE customfield = 12534
    AND ISSUE = 19602

SELECT @combinedString as StringValue

Which will return your combined string.

You can also try one of the XML methods e.g.

SELECT DISTINCT Issue, Customfield, StringValues
FROM Jira.customfieldvalue v1
CROSS APPLY ( SELECT StringValues + ','
              FROM jira.customfieldvalue v2
              WHERE v2.Customfield = v1.Customfield
                  AND v2.Issue = v1.issue
              ORDER BY ID
                  FOR XML PATH('') )  D ( StringValues )
WHERE customfield = 12534
    AND ISSUE = 19602

Check if one list contains element from the other

Loius answer is correct, I just want to add an example:

listOne.add("A");
listOne.add("B");

listTwo.add("F");

boolean noElementsInCommon = Collections.disjoint(listOne, listTwo); // true

How to implement infinity in Java?

double supports Infinity

double inf = Double.POSITIVE_INFINITY;
System.out.println(inf + 5);
System.out.println(inf - inf); // same as Double.NaN
System.out.println(inf * -1); // same as Double.NEGATIVE_INFINITY

prints

Infinity
NaN
-Infinity

note: Infinity - Infinity is Not A Number.

What is the point of "final class" in Java?

Object Orientation is not about inheritance, it is about encapsulation. And inheritance breaks encapsulation.

Declaring a class final makes perfect sense in a lot of cases. Any object representing a “value” like a color or an amount of money could be final. They stand on their own.

If you are writing libraries, make your classes final unless you explicitly indent them to be derived. Otherwise, people may derive your classes and override methods, breaking your assumptions / invariants. This may have security implications as well.

Joshua Bloch in “Effective Java” recommends designing explicitly for inheritance or prohibiting it and he notes that designing for inheritance is not that easy.

How to get the current time as datetime

With Swift 5, Foundation offers many ways to get the hour value from a Date object. According to your needs, you may choose one of the four following Playground code snippets.

#1. Using Calendar dateComponents(_:from:) method

Calendar has a method called dateComponents(_:from:). dateComponents(_:from:) has the following declaration:

func dateComponents(_ components: Set<Calendar.Component>, from date: Date) -> DateComponents

Returns all the date components of a date, using the calendar time zone.

Usage:

import Foundation

let date = Date()
let dateComponents = Calendar.current.dateComponents([.hour], from: date)
let hour = dateComponents.hour
print(String(describing: hour)) // may print: Optional(13)

#2. Using Calendar component(_:from:) method

Calendar has a method called component(_:from:). component(_:from:) has the following declaration:

Returns the value for one component of a date.

func component(_ component: Calendar.Component, from date: Date) -> Int

Usage:

import Foundation

let date = Date()
let hour = Calendar.current.component(.hour, from: date)
print(hour) // may print: 13

#3. Using DateFormatter dateFormat property

DateFormatter has a property called dateFormat. dateFormat has the following declaration:

var dateFormat: String! { get set }

The date format string used by the receiver.

Usage:

import Foundation

let date = Date()
let dateFormatter = DateFormatter()
dateFormatter.dateFormat = "HH"
let hour = dateFormatter.string(from: date)
print(hour) // may print: 13

#4. Using Dateformatter setLocalizedDateFormatFromTemplate(_:) method

Dateformatter has a method called setLocalizedDateFormatFromTemplate(_:). setLocalizedDateFormatFromTemplate(_:) has the following declaration:

func setLocalizedDateFormatFromTemplate(_ dateFormatTemplate: String)

Sets the date format from a template using the specified locale for the receiver.

Usage:

import Foundation

let date = Date()
let dateFormatter = DateFormatter()
dateFormatter.setLocalizedDateFormatFromTemplate("HH")
let hour = dateFormatter.string(from: date)
print(hour) // may print: 13

Swift extract regex matches

Even if the matchesInString() method takes a String as the first argument, it works internally with NSString, and the range parameter must be given using the NSString length and not as the Swift string length. Otherwise it will fail for "extended grapheme clusters" such as "flags".

As of Swift 4 (Xcode 9), the Swift standard library provides functions to convert between Range<String.Index> and NSRange.

func matches(for regex: String, in text: String) -> [String] {

    do {
        let regex = try NSRegularExpression(pattern: regex)
        let results = regex.matches(in: text,
                                    range: NSRange(text.startIndex..., in: text))
        return results.map {
            String(text[Range($0.range, in: text)!])
        }
    } catch let error {
        print("invalid regex: \(error.localizedDescription)")
        return []
    }
}

Example:

let string = "€4€9"
let matched = matches(for: "[0-9]", in: string)
print(matched)
// ["4", "9"]

Note: The forced unwrap Range($0.range, in: text)! is safe because the NSRange refers to a substring of the given string text. However, if you want to avoid it then use

        return results.flatMap {
            Range($0.range, in: text).map { String(text[$0]) }
        }

instead.

(Older answer for Swift 3 and earlier:)

So you should convert the given Swift string to an NSString and then extract the ranges. The result will be converted to a Swift string array automatically.

(The code for Swift 1.2 can be found in the edit history.)

Swift 2 (Xcode 7.3.1) :

func matchesForRegexInText(regex: String, text: String) -> [String] {

    do {
        let regex = try NSRegularExpression(pattern: regex, options: [])
        let nsString = text as NSString
        let results = regex.matchesInString(text,
                                            options: [], range: NSMakeRange(0, nsString.length))
        return results.map { nsString.substringWithRange($0.range)}
    } catch let error as NSError {
        print("invalid regex: \(error.localizedDescription)")
        return []
    }
}

Example:

let string = "€4€9"
let matches = matchesForRegexInText("[0-9]", text: string)
print(matches)
// ["4", "9"]

Swift 3 (Xcode 8)

func matches(for regex: String, in text: String) -> [String] {

    do {
        let regex = try NSRegularExpression(pattern: regex)
        let nsString = text as NSString
        let results = regex.matches(in: text, range: NSRange(location: 0, length: nsString.length))
        return results.map { nsString.substring(with: $0.range)}
    } catch let error {
        print("invalid regex: \(error.localizedDescription)")
        return []
    }
}

Example:

let string = "€4€9"
let matched = matches(for: "[0-9]", in: string)
print(matched)
// ["4", "9"]

How to fast-forward a branch to head?

Move your branch pointer to the HEAD:

git branch -f master

Your branch master already exists, so git will not allow you to overwrite it, unless you use... -f (this argument stands for --force)

Or you can use rebase:

git rebase HEAD master

Do it on your own risk ;)

Including a css file in a blade template?

in your main layout put this in the head at the bottom of everything

@stack('styles')

and in your view put this

@endpush

basically a placeholder so the links will appear on your main layout, and you can see custom css files on different pages

SQL LEFT JOIN Subquery Alias

You didn't select post_id in the subquery. You have to select it in the subquery like this:

LEFT JOIN
    (
        SELECT meta_value As Prenom, post_id  -- <----- this

WHERE  wp_woocommerce_order_items.order_id =2198

Convert DateTime in C# to yyyy-MM-dd format and Store it to MySql DateTime Field

Have you tried?

var isoDateTimeFormat = CultureInfo.InvariantCulture.DateTimeFormat;

// "2013-10-10T22:10:00"
 dateValue.ToString(isoDateTimeFormat.SortableDateTimePattern);

// "2013-10-10 22:10:00Z"
dateValue.ToString(isoDateTimeFormat.UniversalSortableDateTimePattern)

Also try using parameters when you store the c# datetime value in the mySql database, this might help.

Mac SQLite editor

Sqliteman is my current preference: It uses QT, so it's cross-platform. Since I develop on Windows, Linux and OS X, it helps to have the same tools available on each.

I also tried SQLite Admin (Windows, so irrelevant to the question anyway) for a while, but it seems unmaintained these days, and has the most annoying hotkeys of any application I've ever used - Ctrl-S clears the current query, with no hope of undo.

Django template how to look up a dictionary value with a variable

Fetch both the key and the value from the dictionary in the loop:

{% for key, value in mydict.items %}
    {{ value }}
{% endfor %}

I find this easier to read and it avoids the need for special coding. I usually need the key and the value inside the loop anyway.

How to use goto statement correctly

As already pointed out by all the answers goto - a reserved word in Java and is not used in the language.

restart: is called an identifier followed by a colon.

Here are a few things you need to take care of if you wish to achieve similar behavior -

outer: // Should be placed exactly before the loop
loopingConstructOne { // We can have statements before the outer but not inbetween the label and the loop
    inner:
    loopingConstructTwo {
        continue; // This goes to the top of loopingConstructTwo and continue.
        break; // This breaks out of loopingConstructTwo.
        continue outer; // This goes to the outer label and reenters loopingConstructOne.
        break outer; // This breaks out of the loopingConstructOne.
        continue inner; // This will behave similar to continue.
        break inner; // This will behave similar to break.
    }
}

I'm not sure of whether should I say similar as I already have.

How to get current route in Symfony 2?

With Symfony 4.2.7, I'm able to implement the following in my twig template, which displays the custom route name I defined in my controller(s).

In index.html.twig

<div class="col">
    {% set current_path =  app.request.get('_route') %}
    {{ current_path }}
</div>

In my controller

    ...

    class ArticleController extends AbstractController {
        /**
         * @Route("/", name="article_list")
         * @Method({"GET"})
         */
        public function index() {
        ...
        }

        ...
     }

The result prints out "article_list" to the desired page in my browser.

What is the definition of "interface" in object oriented programming

I don't think "blueprint" is a good word to use. A blueprint tells you how to build something. An interface specifically avoids telling you how to build something.

An interface defines how you can interact with a class, i.e. what methods it supports.

How do I interpret precision and scale of a number in a database?

Precision, Scale, and Length in the SQL Server 2000 documentation reads:

Precision is the number of digits in a number. Scale is the number of digits to the right of the decimal point in a number. For example, the number 123.45 has a precision of 5 and a scale of 2.

Android Studio build fails with "Task '' not found in root project 'MyProject'."

Download system image(of targeted android level of your project) from sdk manager for the project you have imported.

This error comes when you do not have target sdk of your android project installed in sdk folder

for eg. Your imported project's target sdk level may be android-19 and on sdk folder->system-images you may have android-21 installed. so you have to download android-19 system image and other files from sdk manager or you can copy paste it if you have the system image.

You need to use the MFMessageComposeViewController if you want to show creating and sending the message in your own app.

Otherwise, you can use the sharedApplication method.

Get protocol, domain, and port from URL

None of these answers seem to completely address the question, which calls for an arbitrary url, not specifically the url of the current page.

Method 1: Use the URL API (caveat: no IE11 support)

You can use the URL API (not supported by IE11, but available everywhere else).

This also makes it easy to access search params. Another bonus: it can be used in a Web Worker since it doesn't depend on the DOM.

const url = new URL('http://example.com:12345/blog/foo/bar?startIndex=1&pageSize=10');

Method 2 (old way): Use the browser's built-in parser in the DOM

Use this if you need this to work on older browsers as well.

// Create an anchor element (note: no need to append this element to the document)
const url = document.createElement('a');
// Set href to any path
url.setAttribute('href', 'http://example.com:12345/blog/foo/bar?startIndex=1&pageSize=10');

That's it!

The browser's built-in parser has already done its job. Now you can just grab the parts you need (note that this works for both methods above):

// Get any piece of the url you're interested in
url.hostname;  //  'example.com'
url.port;      //  12345
url.search;    //  '?startIndex=1&pageSize=10'
url.pathname;  //  '/blog/foo/bar'
url.protocol;  //  'http:'

Bonus: Search params

Chances are you'll probably want to break apart the search url params as well, since '?startIndex=1&pageSize=10' isn't too useable on its own.

If you used Method 1 (URL API) above, you simply use the searchParams getters:

url.searchParams.get('startIndex');  // '1'

Or to get all parameters:

function searchParamsToObj(searchParams) {
  const paramsMap = Array
    .from(url.searchParams)
    .reduce((params, [key, val]) => params.set(key, val), new Map());
  return Object.fromEntries(paramsMap);
}
searchParamsToObj(url.searchParams);
// -> { startIndex: '1', pageSize: '10' }

If you used Method 2 (the old way), you can use something like this:

// Simple object output (note: does NOT preserve duplicate keys).
var params = url.search.substr(1); // remove '?' prefix
params
    .split('&')
    .reduce((accum, keyval) => {
        const [key, val] = keyval.split('=');
        accum[key] = val;
        return accum;
    }, {});

The following works. I may be mistaken but adding a String value doesn't seem compatible to a DataGridView cell (I hadn't experimented or tried any hacks though).

DataGridViewName.Rows[0].Cells[0].Value = 1;

multiple packages in context:component-scan, spring config

You can add multiple base packages (see axtavt's answer), but you can also filter what's scanned inside the base package:

<context:component-scan base-package="x.y.z">
   <context:include-filter type="regex" expression="(service|controller)\..*"/>
</context:component-scan>

How to transition to a new view controller with code only using Swift

For anyone doing this on iOS8, this is what I had to do:

I have a swift class file titled SettingsView.swift and a .xib file named SettingsView.xib. I run this in MasterViewController.swift (or any view controller really to open a second view controller)

@IBAction func openSettings(sender: AnyObject) {
        var mySettings: SettingsView = SettingsView(nibName: "SettingsView", bundle: nil) /<--- Notice this "nibName"
        var modalStyle: UIModalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyle.CoverVertical
        mySettings.modalTransitionStyle = modalStyle
        self.presentViewController(mySettings, animated: true, completion: nil)

    }

How can I show/hide a specific alert with twitter bootstrap?

You can simply use id(#)selector like this.

 $('#passwordsNoMatchRegister').show();
 $('#passwordsNoMatchRegister').hide();

Using multiple parameters in URL in express

app.get('/fruit/:fruitName/:fruitColor', function(req, res) {
    var data = {
        "fruit": {
            "apple": req.params.fruitName,
            "color": req.params.fruitColor
        }
    };

    send.json(data);
});

If that doesn't work, try using console.log(req.params) to see what it is giving you.

find a minimum value in an array of floats

You need to iterate the 2d array in order to get the min value of each row, then you have to push any gotten min value to another array and finally you need to get the min value of the array where each min row value was pushed

def get_min_value(self, table):
    min_values = []
    for i in range(0, len(table)):
        min_value = min(table[i])
        min_values.append(min_value)

    return min(min_values)

How to set the allowed url length for a nginx request (error code: 414, uri too large)

From: http://nginx.org/r/large_client_header_buffers

Syntax: large_client_header_buffers number size ;
Default: large_client_header_buffers 4 8k;
Context: http, server

Sets the maximum number and size of buffers used for reading large client request header. A request line cannot exceed the size of one buffer, or the 414 (Request-URI Too Large) error is returned to the client. A request header field cannot exceed the size of one buffer as well, or the 400 (Bad Request) error is returned to the client. Buffers are allocated only on demand. By default, the buffer size is equal to 8K bytes. If after the end of request processing a connection is transitioned into the keep-alive state, these buffers are released.

so you need to change the size parameter at the end of that line to something bigger for your needs.

"OverflowError: Python int too large to convert to C long" on windows but not mac

Could anyone help explain why

In Python 2 a python "int" was equivalent to a C long. In Python 3 an "int" is an arbitrary precision type but numpy still uses "int" it to represent the C type "long" when creating arrays.

The size of a C long is platform dependent. On windows it is always 32-bit. On unix-like systems it is normally 32 bit on 32 bit systems and 64 bit on 64 bit systems.

or give a solution for the code on windows? Thanks so much!

Choose a data type whose size is not platform dependent. You can find the list at https://docs.scipy.org/doc/numpy/reference/arrays.scalars.html#arrays-scalars-built-in the most sensible choice would probably be np.int64

Your compound PRIMARY KEY specification already does what you want. Omit the line that's giving you a syntax error, and omit the redundant CONSTRAINT (already implied), too:

How do I get the directory that a program is running from?

Works with starting from C++11, using experimental filesystem, and C++14-C++17 as well using official filesystem.

application.h:

#pragma once

//
// https://en.cppreference.com/w/User:D41D8CD98F/feature_testing_macros
//
#ifdef __cpp_lib_filesystem
#include <filesystem>
#else
#include <experimental/filesystem>

namespace std {
    namespace filesystem = experimental::filesystem;
}
#endif

std::filesystem::path getexepath();

application.cpp:

#include "application.h"
#ifdef _WIN32
#include <windows.h>    //GetModuleFileNameW
#else
#include <limits.h>
#include <unistd.h>     //readlink
#endif

std::filesystem::path getexepath()
{
#ifdef _WIN32
    wchar_t path[MAX_PATH] = { 0 };
    GetModuleFileNameW(NULL, path, MAX_PATH);
    return path;
#else
    char result[PATH_MAX];
    ssize_t count = readlink("/proc/self/exe", result, PATH_MAX);
    return std::string(result, (count > 0) ? count : 0);
#endif
}

When is it practical to use Depth-First Search (DFS) vs Breadth-First Search (BFS)?

Because Depth-First Searches use a stack as the nodes are processed, backtracking is provided with DFS. Because Breadth-First Searches use a queue, not a stack, to keep track of what nodes are processed, backtracking is not provided with BFS.

How to generate a random String in Java

Generating a random string of characters is easy - just use java.util.Random and a string containing all the characters you want to be available, e.g.

public static String generateString(Random rng, String characters, int length)
{
    char[] text = new char[length];
    for (int i = 0; i < length; i++)
    {
        text[i] = characters.charAt(rng.nextInt(characters.length()));
    }
    return new String(text);
}

Now, for uniqueness you'll need to store the generated strings somewhere. How you do that will really depend on the rest of your application.

Gradle: Execution failed for task ':processDebugManifest'

I met the problem in another reason.

I was building app in Android Studio, and I had a app module and another module. App module depended on the other module.

But part of build.gradle of app module is :

<application
    android:allowBackup="false"
    android:label="@string/app_name"
    android:supportsRtl="true">

    ...

</application>

while the other module's build.gradle part is:

<application
    android:allowBackup="true"
    android:label="Android Lua"
    android:supportsRtl="true">

</application>

So, I change the module's build.gradle part to:

<application
    android:allowBackup="false"
    android:label="@string/app_name"
    android:supportsRtl="true">

</application>

Problem solved.

Java: JSON -> Protobuf & back conversion

For protobuf 2.5, use the dependency:

"com.googlecode.protobuf-java-format" % "protobuf-java-format" % "1.2"

Then use the code:

com.googlecode.protobuf.format.JsonFormat.merge(json, builder)
com.googlecode.protobuf.format.JsonFormat.printToString(proto)

restrict edittext to single line

Now android:singleLine attribute is deprecated. Please add these attributes to your EditText for an EditText to be single line.

android:inputType="text"
android:imeOptions="actionNext"
android:maxLines="1"

Defining static const integer members in class definition

As of C++11 you can use:

static constexpr int N = 10;

This theoretically still requires you to define the constant in a .cpp file, but as long as you don't take the address of N it is very unlikely that any compiler implementation will produce an error ;).

MySql Proccesslist filled with "Sleep" Entries leading to "Too many Connections"?

Increasing number of max-connections will not solve the problem.

We were experiencing the same situation on our servers. This is what happens

User open a page/view, that connect to the database, query the database, still query(queries) were not finished and user leave the page or move to some other page. So the connection that was open, will remains open, and keep increasing number of connections, if there are more users connecting with the db and doing something similar.

You can set interactive_timeout MySQL, bydefault it is 28800 (8hours) to 1 hour

SET interactive_timeout=3600

Big-O summary for Java Collections Framework implementations?

The guy above gave comparison for HashMap / HashSet vs. TreeMap / TreeSet.

I will talk about ArrayList vs. LinkedList:

ArrayList:

  • O(1) get()
  • amortized O(1) add()
  • if you insert or delete an element in the middle using ListIterator.add() or Iterator.remove(), it will be O(n) to shift all the following elements

LinkedList:

  • O(n) get()
  • O(1) add()
  • if you insert or delete an element in the middle using ListIterator.add() or Iterator.remove(), it will be O(1)

Can I inject a service into a directive in AngularJS?

You can do injection on Directives, and it looks just like it does everywhere else.

app.directive('changeIt', ['myData', function(myData){
    return {
        restrict: 'C',
        link: function (scope, element, attrs) {
            scope.name = myData.name;
        }
    }
 }]);

How to get the data-id attribute?

This piece of code will return the value of the data attributes eg: data-id, data-time, data-name etc.., I have shown for the id

<a href="#" id="click-demo" data-id="a1">Click</a>

js:

$(this).data("id");

// get the value of the data-id -> a1

$(this).data("id", "a2");

// this will change the data-id -> a2

$(this).data("id");

// get the value of the data-id -> a2

Excel: Search for a list of strings within a particular string using array formulas?

  1. Arange your word list with delimiter which never occures in the words, f.e. |
  2. swap arguments in find call - we want search if cell value is matching one of the words in pattern string {=FIND("cell I want to search","list of words I want to search for")}
  3. if the patterns are similar, there is a risk of getting more results than wanted, we restrict just correct results via adding &"|" to the cell value tested (works well with array formulas) cell G3 could contain: {=SUM(FIND($A$1:$A$100&"|";A3))} this ensures spreadsheet will compare strings like "cellvlaue|" againts "pattern1|", "pattern2|" etc. which sorts out conflicts like pattern1="newly added", pattern2="added" (sum of all cells matching "added" would be too high, including the target values for cells matching "newly added", which would be a logical error)

How do I escape special characters in MySQL?

You can use mysql_real_escape_string. mysql_real_escape_string() does not escape % and _, so you should escape MySQL wildcards (% and _) separately.

Make Iframe to fit 100% of container's remaining height

or you can go old-school and use a frameset perhaps:

<frameset rows="30,*">
  <frame src="banner.swf"/>
  <frame src="inner.html" />
</frameset>

Function is not defined - uncaught referenceerror

How about removing the onclick attribute and adding an ID:

<input type="image" src="btn.png" alt="" id="img-clck" />

And your script:

$(document).ready(function(){
    function codeAddress() {
        var address = document.getElementById("formatedAddress").value;
        geocoder.geocode( { 'address': address}, function(results, status) {
            if (status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) {
                map.setCenter(results[0].geometry.location);
            }
        });
    }
    $("#img-clck").click(codeAddress);
});

This way if you need to change the function name or whatever no need to touch the html.

Display an image into windows forms

I display images in windows forms when I put it in Load event like this:

    private void Form1_Load( object sender , EventArgs e )
    {
        pictureBox1.ImageLocation = "./image.png"; //path to image
        pictureBox1.SizeMode = PictureBoxSizeMode.AutoSize;
    }

How to hide underbar in EditText

I have something like this which is very very useful:

generalEditText.getBackground().mutate().setColorFilter(getResources().getColor(R.color.white), PorterDuff.Mode.SRC_ATOP);

where generalEditText is my EditText and color white is:

<color name="white">#ffffff</color>

This will not remove padding and your EditText will stay as is. Only the line at the bottom will be removed. Sometimes it is more useful to do it like this.

If you use android:background="@null" as many suggested you lose the padding and EditText becomes smaller. At least, it was my case.

A little side note is if you set background null and try the java code I provided above, your app will crash right after executing it. (because it gets the background but it is null.) It may be obvious but I think pointing it out is important.

AngularJS: ng-show / ng-hide not working with `{{ }}` interpolation

remove {{}} braces around foo.bar because angular expressions cannot be used in angular directives.

For More: https://docs.angularjs.org/api/ng/directive/ngShow

example

  <body ng-app="changeExample">
    <div ng-controller="ExampleController">
    <p ng-show="foo.bar">I could be shown, or I could be hidden</p>
    <p ng-hide="foo.bar">I could be shown, or I could be hidden</p>
    </div>
    </body>

<script>
     angular.module('changeExample', [])
        .controller('ExampleController', ['$scope', function($scope) {
          $scope.foo ={};
          $scope.foo.bar = true;
        }]);
</script>

How to POST the data from a modal form of Bootstrap?
