You get this error because a class which has no constructor has a default constructor, which is argument-less and is equivalent to the following code:

public ACSubClass() {
    super();
}

However since your BaseClass declares a constructor (and therefore doesn't have the default, no-arg constructor that the compiler would otherwise provide) this is illegal - a class that extends BaseClass can't call super(); because there is not a no-argument constructor in BaseClass.

This is probably a little counter-intuitive because you might think that a subclass automatically has any constructor that the base class has.

The simplest way around this is for the base class to not declare a constructor (and thus have the default, no-arg constructor) or have a declared no-arg constructor (either by itself or alongside any other constructors). But often this approach can't be applied - because you need whatever arguments are being passed into the constructor to construct a legit instance of the class.

In practical terms, boilerplate code is the stuff you cut-n-paste all over the place. Often it'll be things like a module header, plus some standard/required declarations (every module must declare a logger, every module must declare variables for its name and revision, etc.) On my current project, we're writing message handlers and they all have the same structure (read a message, validate it, process it) and to eliminate dependencies among the handlers we didn't want to have them all inherit from a base class, so we came up with a boilerplate skeleton. It declared all the routine variables, the standard methods, exception handling framework — all a developer had to do was add the code specific to the message being handled. It would have been quick & easy to use, but then we found out we were getting our message definitions in a spreadsheet (which used a boilerplate format), so we wound up just writing a code generator to emit 90% of the code (including the unit tests).

Just a supplement here.

The following question is that what if I want more subplots in the figure?

As mentioned in the Doc, we can use fig = plt.subplots(nrows=2, ncols=2) to set a group of subplots with grid(2,2) in one figure object.

Then as we know, the fig, ax = plt.subplots() returns a tuple, let's try fig, ax1, ax2, ax3, ax4 = plt.subplots(nrows=2, ncols=2) firstly.

ValueError: not enough values to unpack (expected 4, got 2)

It raises a error, but no worry, because we now see that plt.subplots() actually returns a tuple with two elements. The 1st one must be a figure object, and the other one should be a group of subplots objects.

So let's try this again:

and check the type:

So just remember to keep the construction of the list as the same as the subplots grid we set in the figure.

If you want to check syntax error for any nginx files, you can use the -c option.

If you feed .c to a c++ compiler it will compile as cpp, .cc/.cxx is just an alternative to .cpp used by some compilers.

.hpp is an attempt to distinguish header files where there are significant c and c++ differences. A common usage is for the .hpp to have the necessary cpp wrappers or namespace and then include the .h in order to expose a c library to both c and c++.

This answer does not address the Debug button (you'd have to design a form and use the buttons on that to do something like the method in your next question). But it does address this part:

First, I'll assume you don't want this in production code - you want it either for debugging or for code you personally will be using. I use a compiler flag to indicate debugging; then if I'm troubleshooting a program, I can easily find the line that's causing the problem.

Note: the exception to Resume is if the error occurs in a sub-procedure without an error handling routine, then Resume will take you to the line in this proc that called the sub-procedure with the error. But you can still step into and through the sub-procedure, using F8 until it errors out again. If the sub-procedure's too long to make even that tedious, then your sub-procedure should probably have its own error handling routine.

There are multiple ways to do this. Sometimes for smaller programs where I know I'm gonna be stepping through it anyway when troubleshooting, I just put these lines right after the MsgBox statement:

The line

when(someObject.doSomething(argumentCaptor.capture())).thenReturn(true);

would do the same as

when(someObject.doSomething(Matchers.any())).thenReturn(true);

So, using argumentCaptor.capture() when stubbing has no added value. Using Matchers.any() shows better what really happens and therefor is better for readability. With argumentCaptor.capture(), you can't read what arguments are really matched. And instead of using any(), you can use more specific matchers when you have more information (class of the expected argument), to improve your test.

And another problem: If using argumentCaptor.capture() when stubbing it becomes unclear how many values you should expect to be captured after verification. We want to capture a value during verification, not during stubbing because at that point there is no value to capture yet. So what does the argument captors capture method capture during stubbing? It capture anything because there is nothing to be captured yet. I consider it to be undefined behavior and I don't want to use undefined behavior.

For those times when you need to use jquery to set !important properties, here is a plugin I build that will allow you to do so.

I ran into the same error, when I just forgot to declare my custom component in my NgModule - check there, if the others solutions won't work for you.

Just for completeness, you can get a list of kernels with jupyter kernelspec list, but I ran into a case where one of the kernels did not show up in this list. You can find all kernel names by opening a Jupyter notebook and selecting Kernel -> Change kernel. If you do not see everything in this list when you run jupyter kernelspec list, try looking in common Jupyter folders:

• You are mixing up dm$Day and dm$day. Probably not the same thing
• Your column headings are Date and Visits. So you would access them (I'm guessing) as dm$Date and dm$Visits
• In the date field you have %Y-%m-%d this should be %m/%d/%Y

If you really want to check for all those special characters, it's easier to use a regular expression:

You can use sum() with a generator expression here. The generator expression will be [1, 1, ...] up to the length of the file. Then we call sum() to add them all together, to get the total count.

Python eggs are a way of bundling additional information with a Python project, that allows the project's dependencies to be checked and satisfied at runtime, as well as allowing projects to provide plugins for other projects. There are several binary formats that embody eggs, but the most common is '.egg' zipfile format, because it's a convenient one for distributing projects. All of the formats support including package-specific data, project-wide metadata, C extensions, and Python code.

The easiest way to install and use Python eggs is to use the "Easy Install" Python package manager, which will find, download, build, and install eggs for you; all you do is tell it the name (and optionally, version) of the Python project(s) you want to use.

Why?

Technically, a Span is an inline element, however it can have width, you just need to set their display property to block first. However, in this context, a div is probably more appropriate, as I'm guessing you want to fill these divs with content.

One thing you definitely don't want to do is have clear:both set on the divs. Setting it like that will mean that the browser will not allow any elements to sit on the same line as them. The result, your elements will stack up.

Note, the use of display:inline. This deals with the ie6 margin-doubling bug. You could tackle this in other ways if necessary, for example conditional stylesheets.

I've added a wrapper (#whatever) as I'm guessing these won't be the only elements on page, so you'll almost certainly need to segregate them from the other page elements.

• copies the directories (not recursively, only one level)
• preserves permissions

To add to the other answers, by implementating java.io.Serializable, you get "automatic" serialization capability for objects of your class. No need to implement any other logic, it'll just work. The Java runtime will use reflection to figure out how to marshal and unmarshal your objects.

In earlier version of Java, reflection was very slow, and so serializaing large object graphs (e.g. in client-server RMI applications) was a bit of a performance problem. To handle this situation, the java.io.Externalizable interface was provided, which is like java.io.Serializable but with custom-written mechanisms to perform the marshalling and unmarshalling functions (you need to implement readExternal and writeExternal methods on your class). This gives you the means to get around the reflection performance bottleneck.

In recent versions of Java (1.3 onwards, certainly) the performance of reflection is vastly better than it used to be, and so this is much less of a problem. I suspect you'd be hard-pressed to get a meaningful benefit from Externalizable with a modern JVM.

Also, the built-in Java serialization mechanism isn't the only one, you can get third-party replacements, such as JBoss Serialization, which is considerably quicker, and is a drop-in replacement for the default.

A big downside of Externalizable is that you have to maintain this logic yourself - if you add, remove or change a field in your class, you have to change your writeExternal/readExternal methods to account for it.

In summary, Externalizable is a relic of the Java 1.1 days. There's really no need for it any more.

I have to join the chorus recommending log4net, in my case coming from a platform flexibility (desktop .Net/Compact Framework, 32/64-bit) point of view.

However, wrapping it in a private-label API is a major anti-pattern. log4net.ILogger is the .Net counterpart of the Commons Logging wrapper API already, so coupling is already minimized for you, and since it is also an Apache library, that's usually not even a concern because you're not giving up any control: fork it if you must.

Most house wrapper libraries I've seen also commit one or more of a litany of faults:

42. Using a global singleton logger (or equivalently a static entry point) which loses the fine resolution of the recommended logger-per-class pattern for no other selectivity gain.
43. Failing to expose the optional Exception argument, leading to multiple problems:
    • It makes an exception logging policy even more difficult to maintain, so nothing is done consistently with exceptions.
    • Even with a consistent policy, formatting the exception away into a string loses data prematurely. I've written a custom ILayout decorator that performs detailed drill-down on an exception to determine the chain of events.
44. Failing to expose the IsLevelEnabled properties, which discards the ability to skip formatting code when areas or levels of logging are turned off.

At least Chrome still has a string that contains "Chrome" with the exact version number. But, for IE you must extrapolate from the things it supports to actually figure it out (who else would boast that they support .NET or Media Center :P), and then match it against the rv: at the very end to get the version number. Of course, even such sophisticated heuristics might very likely fail as soon as IE 12 (or whatever they want to call it) comes out.

The -match operator tests a regex, combine it with the magic variable $matches to get your result

Late answer, but currently the accepted one is at least suboptimal.

Using quotes is ALWAYS better than using any other characters to enclose %1.
Because when %1 contains spaces or special characters like &, the IF [%1] == simply stops with a syntax error.

But for the case that %1 contains quotes, like in myBatch.bat "my file.txt", a simple IF "%1" == "" would fail.

But as you can't know if quotes are used or not, there is the syntax %~1, this removes enclosing quotes when necessary.

Therefore, the code should look like

For many numbers it will not overflow.

If it will overflow - for one of those unlucky initial seeds, the overflown number will very likely converge toward 1 without another overflow.

Still this poses interesting question, is there some overflow-cyclic seed number?

Any simple final converging series starts with power of two value (obvious enough?).

2^64 will overflow to zero, which is undefined infinite loop according to algorithm (ends only with 1), but the most optimal solution in answer will finish due to shr rax producing ZF=1.

Can we produce 2^64? If the starting number is 0x5555555555555555, it's odd number, next number is then 3n+1, which is 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF + 1 = 0. Theoretically in undefined state of algorithm, but the optimized answer of johnfound will recover by exiting on ZF=1. The cmp rax,1 of Peter Cordes will end in infinite loop (QED variant 1, "cheapo" through undefined 0 number).

How about some more complex number, which will create cycle without 0? Frankly, I'm not sure, my Math theory is too hazy to get any serious idea, how to deal with it in serious way. But intuitively I would say the series will converge to 1 for every number : 0 < number, as the 3n+1 formula will slowly turn every non-2 prime factor of original number (or intermediate) into some power of 2, sooner or later. So we don't need to worry about infinite loop for original series, only overflow can hamper us.

So I just put few numbers into sheet and took a look on 8 bit truncated numbers.

There are three values overflowing to 0: 227, 170 and 85 (85 going directly to 0, other two progressing toward 85).

But there's no value creating cyclic overflow seed.

Funnily enough I did a check, which is the first number to suffer from 8 bit truncation, and already 27 is affected! It does reach value 9232 in proper non-truncated series (first truncated value is 322 in 12th step), and the maximum value reached for any of the 2-255 input numbers in non-truncated way is 13120 (for the 255 itself), maximum number of steps to converge to 1 is about 128 (+-2, not sure if "1" is to count, etc...).

Interestingly enough (for me) the number 9232 is maximum for many other source numbers, what's so special about it? :-O 9232 = 0x2410 ... hmmm.. no idea.

Unfortunately I can't get any deep grasp of this series, why does it converge and what are the implications of truncating them to k bits, but with cmp number,1 terminating condition it's certainly possible to put the algorithm into infinite loop with particular input value ending as 0 after truncation.

But the value 27 overflowing for 8 bit case is sort of alerting, this looks like if you count the number of steps to reach value 1, you will get wrong result for majority of numbers from the total k-bit set of integers. For the 8 bit integers the 146 numbers out of 256 have affected series by truncation (some of them may still hit the correct number of steps by accident maybe, I'm too lazy to check).

anUnicode.encode('encoding') results in a string object and can be called on a unicode object

aString.decode('encoding') results in an unicode object and can be called on a string, encoded in given encoding.

Some more explanations:

You can create some unicode object, which doesn't have any encoding set. The way it is stored by Python in memory is none of your concern. You can search it, split it and call any string manipulating function you like.

But there comes a time, when you'd like to print your unicode object to console or into some text file. So you have to encode it (for example - in UTF-8), you call encode('utf-8') and you get a string with '\u<someNumber>' inside, which is perfectly printable.

Then, again - you'd like to do the opposite - read string encoded in UTF-8 and treat it as an Unicode, so the \u360 would be one character, not 5. Then you decode a string (with selected encoding) and get brand new object of the unicode type.

Just as a side note - you can select some pervert encoding, like 'zip', 'base64', 'rot' and some of them will convert from string to string, but I believe the most common case is one that involves UTF-8/UTF-16 and string.

I found this solution online, and it addressed this pretty well. My only concern is looping through all the pivots and queries might become time consuming if there's a lot of them:

Try this if the above solution aren't working, worked for me

Cut the whole contents in the worksheet using "Ctrl + A" followed by "Ctrl + X" and paste it to a new sheet. Your reference to formulas will remain intact when you cut paste.

Heads up, you might need to restart LAMP, Apache or whatever your using to make this take affect. Racked our brains for a while on this one, seemed to make no affect until services were restarted, presumably because the website was caching.

It's ridiculous how bad Mysql and MariaDB are optimized when it comes to inserts. I tested mysql 5.7 and mariadb 10.3, no real difference on those.

I've tested this on a server with NVME disks, 70,000 IOPS, 1.1 GB/sec seq throughput and that's possible full duplex (read and write).
The server is a high performance server as well.
Gave it 20 GB of ram.
The database completely empty.

The speed I receive was 5000 inserts per second when doing multi row inserts (tried it with 1MB up to 10MB chunks of data)

Now the clue:
If I add another thread and insert into the SAME tables I suddenly have 2x5000 /sec. One more thread and I have 15000 total /sec

Consider this: When doing ONE thread inserts it means you can sequentially write to the disk (with exceptions to indexes). When using threads you actually degrade the possible performance because it now needs to do a lot more random accesses. But reality check shows mysql is so badly optimized that threads help a lot.

The real performance possible with such a server is probably millions per second, the CPU is idle the disk is idle.
The reason is quite clearly that mariadb just as mysql has internal delays.

Potatoswatter's answer is all right, but I prefer to use find or lower_bound instead. lower_bound is especially useful because the iterator returned can subsequently be used for a hinted insertion, should you wish to insert something with the same key.

The proper way to organize your code is to use separate directories in place of namespaces. Each class will be in it's own file, in it's respective namespace folder. index.ts will only re-export each file; no actual code should be in the index.ts file. Organizing your code like this makes it far easier to navigate, and is self-documenting based on directory structure.

The -n will print the line number and the > will redirect grep-results to the output-file.
If you want to "clean" the results you can filter them using pipe | for example:

This one worked, double quotes when $user and $password are outside single quotes. Single quotes when inside a single quote statement.

At its simplest, the difference is one of plurality:

• Backout backs out of a single changelist (whether the most recent or not). i.e. it undoes a single changelist.
• Rollback rolls back changes as much as it needs to in order to get to a previous changelist. i.e. it undoes multiple changelists.

I used to forget which one is which and end up having to look it up many times. To fix this problem, imagine rolling back as several rotations then hopefully the fact that rollback is plural will help you (and me!) remember which one is which. Backout sounds 'less plural' than rollback to me. Imagine backing out of a single parking space.

So, the mnemonic is:

• Rollback → multiple rotations
• Backout → back out of a single car parking space

I was trying to do this but having problems with Kjetil Watnedal's solution because I don't use the inline linq syntax - I prefer method-style syntax. My specific problem was in trying to do dynamic sorting using a custom IComparer.

It's a little difficult to tell what you're trying to achieve, but assuming you're trying to get a Base64 string that when decoded is abcdef==, the following should work:

From ?read.table: The number of data columns is determined by looking at the first five lines of input (or the whole file if it has less than five lines), or from the length of col.names if it is specified and is longer. This could conceivably be wrong if fill or blank.lines.skip are true, so specify col.names if necessary.

So, perhaps your data file isn't clean. Being more specific will help the data import:

One more thing that prevents the mysqld windows service from running is if you have mysqld.exe already running (but not as a service) and occupying port 3306. When the service tries to start and sees that port 3306 is already taken, it fails.

Just open up the windows task manager and look for "mysqld.exe" under the Processes tab. If you see it, kill it and then try to start the service again.

Virtualenv is a tool to create isolated Python environments.

Let's say you're working in 2 different projects, A and B. Project A is a web project and the team is using the following packages:

• Python 2.8.x
• Django 1.6.x

The project B is also a web project but your team is using:

• Python 2.7.x
• Django 1.4.x

The machine that you're working doesn't have any version of django, what should you do? Install django 1.4? django 1.6? If you install django 1.4 globally would be easy to point to django 1.6 to work in project A?

Virtualenv is your solution! You can create 2 different virtualenv's, one for project A and another for project B. Now, when you need to work in project A, just activate the virtualenv for project A, and vice-versa.

A better tip when using virtualenv is to install virtualenvwrapper to manage all the virtualenv's that you have, easily. It's a wrapper for creating, working, removing virtualenv's.

I think a better way is using the static method fromString to avoid those regular expressions.

I think you want \b\w{1,10}\b. The \b matches a word boundary.

Of course, you could also replace the \b and do ^\w{1,10}$. This will match a word of at most 10 characters as long as its the only contents of the string. I think this is what you were doing before.

Since it's Java, you'll actually have to escape the backslashes: "\\b\\w{1,10}\\b". You probably knew this already, but it's gotten me before.

Summary (a.k.a. tl;dr)

Bootstrap dropdowns stopped dropping down due to upgrade from django-bootstrap3 version 6.2.2 to 11.0.0.

Background

We encountered a similar issue in a legacy django site which relies heavily on bootstrap through django-bootstrap3. The site had always worked fine, and continued to do so in production, but not on our local test system. There were no obvious related changes in the code, so a dependency issue was most likely.

Symptoms

When visiting the site on the local django test server, it looked perfectly O.K. at first glance: style/layout using bootstrap as expected, including the navbar. However, all dropdown menus failed to drop down.

No errors in the browser console. All static js and css files were loaded successfully, and functionality from other packages relying on jquery was working as expected.

Solution

It turned out that the django-bootstrap3 package in our local python environment had been upgraded to the latest version, 11.0.0, whereas the site was built using 6.2.2.

Rolling back to django-bootstrap3==6.2.2 solved the issue for us, although I have no idea what exactly caused it.

Use the lag function:

Sequences used for Ids can skip values, so Id-1 does not always work.

user2689410's code was exactly what I needed. Providing my version (credits to user2689410), which is faster due to calculating mean at once for whole rows in the DataFrame.

I don't think that can be done RELIABLY with built in methods on the native Date object. The toLocaleString method gets close, but if I am remembering correctly, it won't work correctly in IE < 10. If you are able to use a library for this task, MomentJS is a really amazing library; and it makes working with dates and times easy. Otherwise, I think you will have to write a basic function to give you the format that you are after.

The first maximum you would hit is the length of a String which is 2³¹-1 digits. It's much smaller than the maximum of a BigInteger but IMHO it loses much of its value if it can't be printed.

Okay, I think I know what you're looking for. It appears that GGT is a pretty good solution, as Reed Copsey suggested.

Personally, we rolled our own little library, because we deal with rational points a lot - lots of rational NURBS and Beziers.

It turns out that most 3D graphics libraries do computations with projective points that have no basis in projective math, because that's what gets you the answer you want. We ended up using Grassmann points, which have a solid theoretical underpinning and decreased the number of point types. Grassmann points are basically the same computations people are using now, with the benefit of a robust theory. Most importantly, it makes things clearer in our minds, so we have fewer bugs. Ron Goldman wrote a paper on Grassmann points in computer graphics called "On the Algebraic and Geometric Foundations of Computer Graphics".

Sample will give you a percent of your actual table, if you really wanted a 1000 rows you would need to adjust that number. More often I just need an arbitrary number of rows anyway so I don't limit my results. On my database with 2 million rows I get 2 seconds vs 60 seconds.

document.location is deprecated in favor of window.location, which can be accessed by just location, since it's a global object.

The location object has multiple properties and methods. If you try to use it as a string then it acts like location.href.

I did 2 things to solve this problem.

1. I touched the crontab file, described in this link coderwall.com/p/ry9jwg (Thanks @Andy).
2. Used Emacs instead of my default vim: EDITOR=emacs crontab -e (I have no idea why vim does not work)

crontab -lnow prints the cronjobs. Now I only need to figure out why the cronjobs are still not running ;-)

It seems that the compiler is better in optimizing a switch-statement than an if-statement.

The compiler doesn't know if the order of evaluating the if-statements is important to you, and can't perform any optimizations there. You could be calling methods in the if-statements, influencing variables. With the switch-statement it knows that all clauses can be evaluated at the same time and can put them in whatever order is most efficient.

No, you can't cast Integer to Long, even though you can convert from int to long. For an individual value which is known to be a number and you want to get the long value, you could use:

This loops through column A of sheet1 and creates a formula in sheet2 for every cell. To find the last cell in Sheet1, I start at the bottom (shSource.Rows.Count) and .End(xlUp) to get the last cell in the column that's not blank.

To create the elements of the formula, I use the Address property of the cell on Sheet. I'm using three of the arguments to Address. The first two are RowAbsolute and ColumnAbsolute, both set to false. I don't care about the third argument, but I set the fourth argument (External) to True so that it includes the sheet name.

I prefer to go from Source to Destination rather than the other way. But that's just a personal preference. If you want to work from the destination,

Firstly, the below method doesn't compile as it is missing the return type and it should be Long.MAX_VALUE in place of Long.Max_value.

The above method can never return true as you are comparing a long value with Long.MAX_VALUE , see the method signature you can pass only long there.Any long can be as big as the Long.MAX_VALUE, it can't be bigger than that.

You can try something like this with BigInteger class :

Next to the performance issues, there is another one very important which I'd call code maintainability and extendibility.

If a T is POD and you start preferring initialization list, then if one time T will change to a non-POD type, you won't need to change anything around initialization to avoid unnecessary constructor calls because it is already optimised.

If type T does have default constructor and one or more user-defined constructors and one time you decide to remove or hide the default one, then if initialization list was used, you don't need to update code if your user-defined constructors because they are already correctly implemented.

Same with const members or reference members, let's say initially T is defined as follows:

Next, you decide to qualify a as const, if you would use initialization list from the beginning, then this was a single line change, but having the T defined as above, it also requires to dig the constructor definition to remove assignment:

It's not a secret that maintenance is far easier and less error-prone if code was written not by a "code monkey" but by an engineer who makes decisions based on deeper consideration about what he is doing.

The topic of abstract classes vs interfaces is mostly about semantics.

Abstract classes act in different programming languages often as a superset of interfaces, except one thing and that is, that you can implement multiple interfaces, but inherit only one class.

An interface defines what something must be able to do; like a contract, but does not provide an implementation of it.

An abstract class defines what something is and it commonly hosts shared code between the subclasses.

For example a Formatter should be able to format() something. The common semantics to describe something like that would be to create an interface IFormatter with a declaration of format() that acts like a contract. But IFormatter does not describe what something is, but just what it should be able to to. The common semantics to describe what something actually is, is to create a class. In this case we create an abstract class... So we create an abstract class Formatter which implements the interface. That is a very descriptive code, because we now know we have a Formatter and we now know what every Formatter must be able to do.

Also one very important topic is documentation (at least for some people...). In your documentation you probably want to explain within your subclasses what a Formatter actually is. It is very convenient to have an abstract class Formatter to which documentation you can link to within your subclasses. That is very convenient and generic. On the other hand if you do not have an abstract class Formatter and only an interface IFormatter you would have to explain in each of your subclasses what a Formatter actucally is, because an interface is a contract and you would not describe what a Formatter actually is within the documentation of an interface — at least it would be not something common to do and you would break the semantics that most developers consider to be correct.

Note: It is a very common pattern to make an abstract class implement an interface.

I benchmarked the answers of Anthony Damico, Brian Diggs and data_steve on a small sample tbl_df and got the following results.

You can use QString.arg like this

This method is preferred over sprintf because:

Changing the position of the string without having to change the ordering of substitution, e.g.

Or, changing the type of the arguments doesn't require changing the format string, e.g.

As you can see, the change is minimal. Of course, you generally do not need to care about the type that is passed into QString::arg() since most types are correctly overloaded.

One drawback though: QString::arg() doesn't handle std::string. You will need to call: QString::fromStdString() on your std::string to make it into a QString before passing it to QString::arg(). Try to separate the classes that use QString from the classes that use std::string. Or if you can, switch to QString altogether.
